Seeing that it's up to 6:30, please stand for the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I almost sat down on the 7th of March cuz I'm sure you assumed that, but All right, seeing that there are no public comments, I'll turn it over to Dr. Kriplen. All right, thank you, Mr. Wright. Good evening, everybody, and welcome to our annual annual or usually monthly scheduled regular school board meeting. Tonight, we'll go ahead and start with the business at hand with the consent agenda. I'm recommending to the board this evening that they approve the consent agenda that consists of minutes, financial fiscal information, and extracurricular hirings. At this time, I would

make a formal recommendation to the board to approve the consent agenda as presented this evening. Hearing the recommendation. I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda. I'll second. Any discussion? Hearing none, Mr. Billips. Aye. Mr. Music. Aye. Mr. Tenario. Aye. And I vote aye. Moving on to items under personnel. I'm recommending to the board that they accept the resignations from the following staff members: Justin Bearther, director of buildings and grounds, Jennifer Pavlonack, our district nurse, Dawn Graves, our academic counselor here at Edison Junior Senior High School, and Vicki Hernandez-Beck, paraprofessional at Hamilton Elementary School. Hearing the recommendation. I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. Any discussion? Hearing none, Mr. Billips. Aye. Mr. Music. Aye. Mr. Tenario. Aye. And I vote aye. Item number two under personnel, I'm recommending to the board this evening

that they approve the hire Devon Boyland for the band and choir paraprofessional position here at Edison Junior Senior High School. Make a motion to approve. Second. Any discussion? Hearing none, Mr. Billips. Aye. Mr. Music. Aye. Mr. Tenario. Aye. And I vote aye. Moving on to facility requests, we have one facility request for the board to consider this evening, and it comes from City Elite AAU Basketball, who are interested in using the high school gym from March 24th through August 1st for practices three times a week. I would recommend approval of this request. Hearing the request. I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. Any discussion? Mr. Billips. Aye. Mr. Music. Aye. Mr. Tenario. Aye. And I vote aye. Mr. President, that is all the business I have to come before the board this evening, except

to remind everybody that our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 15th, and that meeting will be held at Hamilton Elementary School. Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you, Dr. Kriplen. Mr. Billips, any parting words? Uh thanks to the principals for coming out, people watching online. Uh to the ones leaving us, thank you for your service to the school, and to Devon, welcome aboard. Thank you. Mr. Music. Uh ditto. I appreciate seeing the principals here. Um uh just want to thank everyone that, you know, caught us online as well. I know it's a quick one tonight, but uh thank you for showing up. And uh I just want to say welcome to Devon as well. I know our band and choir uh band and choir has been a little bit of a difficult spot for us to

keep uh some momentum, and I think we've got some of that now, and I'm looking forward to it, so. Thank you, sir. Mr. Tenario. Pretty much the same thing. Uh welcome to Devon. Um gosh, this has got to be the shortest agenda I've ever seen. That was pretty quick for me to hold up. Right. But uh they were really coming. Uh welcome, Devon. Thank you. Thank you. Ditto of the ditto of the ditto. Welcome aboard, and uh to everybody leaving us, good luck to whatever your future is bringing you. Um and thanks for our admin for being here. I love seeing you guys coming to the meetings. Ms. Pippa. I just like to wish everyone a happy spring break. Please be safe, and we will see you back on Monday, March 30th. So, have a

great week next week. Thank you, Dr. Kriplen. Uh just a couple of announcements. First of all, yesterday, we had our career fair here at Edison Junior Senior High School. We had over 30 businesses and uh community organizations. Again, it was a very good event, very well-run event. Uh kudos to Mrs. Evaco, who put that together for us. She has done that the last 3 years and does an amazing job. Uh some of the uh vendors that we had yesterday, we had representatives from our local colleges and universities. We had the military here uh representing our armed forces. We had law enforcement, fire and EMS first responders that were here talking to our students about careers and possibilities of careers in those particular fields, and it was very well attended, and our students got a lot

out of it. And I appreciate Mrs. Evaco for putting that together for us this year. Uh our band and choir concert is scheduled for tomorrow evening. That was rescheduled to tomorrow night because we had some serious storms last week. So, please come out and support the band and choir concert. That'll be tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. That will be held in our auditorium. The last announcement I have is that Ms. Pippa and I had an opportunity to meet with representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Northwestern Indiana. And it was a very informative meeting. Uh we learned that Habitat for Humanity is building homes in Lake Station. They have three homes that are ready to be occupied by families. Typically, the home is 1,800 square feet with three bedrooms and one bathroom. Uh They work with

the families as far as uh financing, and the financing is 0% interest, which typically comes out to approximately a little over $1,000 a month in a mortgage payment. Uh so, we were very excited to hear that news. We have worked with them, and we are going to have an informational meeting for our Lake Station families only, and that's going to be held on Thursday, April the 9th, here at Edison Junior Senior High School between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. And that's an information meeting to share information about uh Habitat for Humanity. They would like to build additionally nine more homes in Lake Station. So, if you're interested to get information about that, please come out to our April 9th meeting at 6:00 here at Edison. We won't keep you to just an hour, and representatives from

uh Habitat for Humanity will be here to answer your questions. And that's all I have. Thank you. Thank you. Anybody else? Motion carried.
