we like think of a teacher as an administrator um and we do our PDS and we put out initiatives and you know when we're walking around we're hoping that we're able to like pop in and see the things that we're um asking our teachers to do and every single time you walk by his room and he is doing it we're we do lpds he has those vocabulary strategies put in place he's working with students oneon-one every minute that he has free in his classroom you can pop in and he's got somebody that he's with working even at the fourth grade level um putting in the work he is not a showbo teacher he does his thing he um is part of the team he got pied in the face was voted to be pied in

the face and did that graciously in front of the whole school um but also you know the kids love him he is he's got structure in his classroom um and he is a marathon runner if none of you knew that but he um has run the biggest marathons in our country and um so we're so very proud of him on that front and for being an excellent teacher and Mentor teacher to our new um staff at Colombia so and I'm pretty sure the sty of your comfort zone H yeah congratulations and thank you the third grade teacher when I was at yeah right all right moving on next is the public comment section this is the first opportunity for someone in the public that wants to make a comment or state and it's about things

on the agenda no takers all right moving on to consent agenda items on the cons consent agenda include minutes of the February 10th 2025 executive session minutes of the February 10th 2025 regular school board meeting Personnel recommendations donation requests the treasures report for January of 2025 and claims do I have a motion to accept these as presented I'll make a motion second second all right any further comments or questions all those that favor signify by sign of I I all those opposed same sign motion passes next is time for Columbia Elementary presentation we just saw these folks we had we've been taking tours with the with the new Schoolboard members and uh they were our last on the list and here they are here today so you're you're fresh in our mind we were excited

we were excited to welcome you into our building and now we are excited to um update you um last school year at this time we did a presentation where we presented a lot about our students and our data and um wanted to give an update on how um our students are doing what our teachers are doing um we've got a couple of new board members so we're excited to be able to share so thank you for this opportunity what we would like to cover today um are to kind of look at the old and uh new legislation for especially for our IAD our students just finished up that assessment um last week and then we have some makeups going on this week the the window for that closes on Friday um a little bit about

our students this year's projections what we are doing to close our reading Gap and how are we supporting our teachers so I read legislation um the 23 24 school year um there was no mandatory retention policy it was always um a possibility if you didn't pass I that you could be retained in third grade but it was not um mandatory this year um for 2425 third graders will be retained if they do not pass I read after the spring and summer attempts um there um in 2324 there you could receive a good cause exemption from having to retake the test um if you had an IEP or an LP individual language uh plan this year um you can only receive the good cause exemption if you have been in an Indiana school for two years

or less or you have a cognitive disability and it is a case conference decision so that really limits the number of kids that can receive that good cause exemption moving forward 23 24 second grade students um were not required to go to summer school this year summer school um must be offered to all at risk second graders and all non-passing third graders for 23 24 students who did not pass could retake but it was not mandatory this year all non-passing students must retake I until they pass or enter seventh grade even if they receive the good cause exemption so if we give them a good cause exemption this year that is just for the retention piece not for the having to retake the test we in the past if they received that they didn't have

to take the test moving forward um and then in 23 24 um they had one spring attempt and one summer attempt this year third grade only can have one spring attempt and two summer attempts so we can test them again in May and then test them again at the end of summer school if they didn't pass which is good so we are a part of the Indiana literacy Cadre um and so their goals have tweaked and shifted um just a little bit from last year so you can see up here what the state's goals are um that at least 91% of Indiana students are passing 69.9% of English Learners are passing and 61.2% of special education students are passing so on the right you'll see what that what those numbers would look like for Colombia

students um with those percentages so that would be 70 of our 76 third graders would need to pass to hit that goal 30 of our 43 English language Learners in third grade would need to pass and seven of our 12 special education students would need to pass um right now of those kids 20 of them passed last year in second grade so that's a good bonus for us that we have 20 that are already um on their way so right now a little bit about our students um we are sitting currently at 430 students um in our building our first little box there is our free and reduced lunch students 87% of Columbia's kids are free or reduced lunch 18 students are considered homeless which is a decrease from our students last year we did

have a few more last year um 228 or 53% of our students have an El level between 1 0 and 4.9 we've got um 13 different languages spoken in our school um and 25 students that are in the migrant program meaning that their families can um qualify because they move often for work so this slide right here we showed this last year and it was very kind of telling at at Colombia right now we have 25 kids that don't have um kind of a barrier whether it's their um economics um free and reduced lunch their language or special education um identification so only 25 of our students are have none of those things and only five of those are third graders so they have a lot of things coming in a lot of barriers that

they're already overcoming when we're asking them um to learn the materials that we're putting in front of them so for um our third graders um a reminder that 28 of them um possess language barriers or special needs um we have a total of 78 76 of them are required to take I we have two that are on Alternate testing so they take a different form of test and don't have to take I um this year we have 20 that are passing if we look at our dat we possibly have a seven that could qualify for the good cause exemption at this time um and we will need 49 of them um still need to pass I so they've taken it um we are as scores kind of start to trickle in we start to see

data um um we're we're pleased with where where they are we're making some progress um not where we would like to be um but we are we are working there so we've been working hard with our teachers and our um staff on what we can do to put into place to continue to make sure we're making progress and to get the majority of our kids to pass so moving forward um and bridging that Gap it is a all handson deck approach so that is every one of our teachers every one of our instructional assistants our specials teachers are involved um they have reading goals placed into their classrooms what can we do for each grade level that can kind of give the students a little bit of a boost while they're in their room for

that 45 minutes a day um explicit tier one instruction by all the teachers in all of the grade levels so that's starting from K all the way to four um strategic tier 2 and tier three groups with not only our title and El teachers but with the classroom teachers providing interventions so we've um started skill groups it used to be like small groups but with the skill groups they're really honed in on the exact skill that the students are missing so we look at a lot of data for that and we assess those skills and change those skills a lot as the students are moving and the teachers meet with those kids um at least four times a week um for a few minutes every day either oneon-one or with a very small group targeted

on those those very specific skills and then we um assess and change them up move them to the next one then when they're ready keeping them going keeping them moving okay and that's part of what teaching belel is for us like using every single moment that we have with the kids effectively so things we're doing now um as you can see through each of the grade levels because this isn't just a third grade problem um by the time they get to third grade it's like hey if you don't know your phics well we don't have a whole lot of time in third grade before you take the test in March to get you where you need to be so we've got to start down at our lowest levels um making sure that we're intentional about

all of our instruction so kindergarten are doing skill groups they're diving into Data creating new ways um to gather data on what their kids need so getting very specific on that first grade um are also doing skill groups they have their impact groups that are also um skill-based based reading um achievement assessments to kind of start getting them used to being able to read and answer questions and um looking at text and going from question back to the text to find answers um and then push in for intervention and targeted skills second grade um a lot of the same things but they did have an IAD boot camp because they are I testers at second grade now um so we started in January and they did some really intentional grouping of their kids getting them

ready for this assessment and in each of those classes um we had our um instructional coach and our um title teachers in with the the second grade teachers and with the third grade teachers to do their boot camp so they had two very talented educated um professionals to break those groups up get them very small and work with them um and then for our third and fourth grade we provided an extra reading block where we ability grouped the kids and we had five OG and OG is our Orton Gillingham phonics um five groups that went from kindergarten to third grade because we still had third and fourth graders that are at the kindergarten first grade second grade levels of um phonics so we um they had a 40 minute um time in the morning that

they did that and then our kids that were um not needing that group anymore we had two classes of um writing and reading comprehension for them and then we had one class of Finish Line which is our El program that is for our level uh kids that are very close to um testing out of the weda you taking the W waa assessment and testing out of needing the English language proficiency um support so um we're excited to get those results back because those kids worked really hard and we were seeing some really good growth with our e um progress monitoring but those don't come back till the end of April so we've still got a little waste before we can um look at those but our El students this year um also all of them

receive 30 minutes of service 4 days per week so that is something new that we haven't been able to do before um because we were allowed graciously by you to um pick up a couple of more teachers we have one more full-time and then one part-time e teacher at Columbia so um really able to hone in with those students um so we have our bi-weekly data meetings um and I meant to put a picture in here but we we had our data meetings today and got a picture of it but it was a crazy day talking about data data all the way up until the end of the day so it didn't get put in there but um we meet with them every other Monday um and we have our administrators our instructional coaches our

title and El interventionist special education teachers and then our grade level team so they do meet during their prep time for this to look at data and to plan for the week on what those intervention groups are going to need um we look at their M Class beginning middle and end of the year data which is um what we look look on for the their beginning level reading skills um so we look at their progress monitoring because they are working on that every um two weeks their progress monitoring on the one skill that they're working on and focusing on um the quick phonic screener and Maze We look at that data I learn checkpoints our third and fourth graders take I learn checkpoints they're about to take their third I learn checkpoint before they take

the actual iearn test um when we return from spring break so we look at that data um for El they have a beginning middle and end of the year um assessment that they do as well as progress monitoring on those and then our ACH reading achievement assessment data so we have a lot of um information about our kids um and we've been very intentional this year making sure that our teachers are diving into that and we are diving into it and actually looking at it we don't want to just assess our kids just for the heck of it we want to be actually be using it um to inform our instruction so how we help our teachers um we have professional development each Wednesday in our building is um for professional development in the morning

during our um 7:30 time so these are our elel team they are in charge of our professional development um they put it together on the skills and um teach our teachers and they have really been very receptive to learning from their peers versus learning from us not I think that when they have um their their colleagues up and they're showing them things that are working in their room then they're like yes I'm going to go try that and they're more um willing to ask questions and to engage um and so our we've done some whole group and we've we've also done to where they split up because there are three of them they split the the grade levels up and take them into smaller groups and what works for our kids also works for our

teachers the teachers feel more comfortable and we get um more out of that professional development time um we also have literacy PD so our um instructional coach Kelly minks and our teachers they um provide that you'll see there we have Kelly on one of our PD our very first PD day up here she's giving showing how to do a read aloud and like going through all the components so we actually like acted it out and had the kid had the teachers come up and we did a read aloud um going through all the different um things that make a great lesson one thing that is um we have begun doing um started kind of dabbling in it a year or two ago um but have been U more focused this year is our conscious discipline

Journey um these are from a couple of trainings that we went to and then um up in the corner is one of the slides from one of our fourth grade teachers who H does conscious discipline in his classroom um there with their commitment of the day um but we've we've did our PD here with our um whole staff which we were very excited about we've been doing them um monthly throughout the this whole school year because we're asking a lot of our teachers um and one of the good things about conscious discipline is it's a like look at yourself first like where are you as the adult before you are teaching and instructing and helping your kids like you have to make sure especially if we're looking at Behavior or stressful situations where am I

let's get myself regulated before can help you like I can't help you not be nervous for this test if I'm nervous for this test for you like I have to make sure that I'm good and so we're really pouring into our staff into getting them in a good place so that they can get the kids in a good place um and that directly affects our discipline data like we have um here um our data from the last um two years and then this year so you can kind of see the pink is like the kindergarten cohort um and then the blue is that first grade um cohort and then um the green are now like our fourth graders as they started um as second graders then um and and we're seeing a slow decrease there

um and even in when we looked at this year's data as Mrs starky mentioned at our last um board meeting those like kindergarten first grade and second grade those are major referrals that have been put in this year so 31 55 and 68 um but a significant number in each of those grade levels have come from one or two students that we've been working really hard with like Behavior plans and um parents excuse me and and putting things in place for them so um we were at a total of 461 a couple years ago then 420 and right now with just a couple months of school we left we're at 204 so like what's I think that that is showing like making the teachers are making those connections with the kids too um and so

we're seeing uh less of those major behaviors that are needing administrator um intervention for and then so here are some of our conscious discipline trainings with our staff it's a lot of up and moving and um interacting with each other here and as much as they're kind of like when we come in and we're getting ready to do it and they're all like then once we get up and going then there's smiles and laughter and connection and they're loving it and by the time we leave I'm like hey you got to go you got to go the kids are coming in you got to go to your room got to stop now um but they they are are really liking it and then here are some of our conscious discipline with students um so we

have a convocation each month that is focused around um a commitment and skill that we are teaching the kids um along with activity that connects and unites them so they have buddy classrooms um young classes with older classes and they buddy up to do these challenges as well I am enough just to leave you with this students STA and students at colia elementary I like the sun I'm here to shine I like the voice I'm here to sing like the bird I'm here to fly and soore high over everything like the trees I'm here to grow like the mountains here to stand like time I'm here to be and be everything I can like to jump I'm here to fight than my heart I here love love I'm here to climb and like the air

to Rise Like the Wind I am here to like the here the rain I'm here to pour and Dr and fall into like the moon I'm here to like the student here to learn like the fire here here to swell like a fire here to burn like the winner I here to win and if I don't get up again I know that I may sometimes cry but even then I here to try I'm not meant to be like you you're not meant to be like me sometimes we will get along and sometimes we will disagree I know that we don't look the same our skin our eyes our hair our frame but that does not dictate our worth we both have places here on Earth and in the end we're right here to live a

life of love not fear to help each other when it's tough to say together I am enough I am I am enough I'm enough I'm I I am I am enough I am [Music] enough I am enough I am enough I am I am I am I am enough I am enough I am enough I am enough I am [Music] enough I am enough I am enough I am enough am I am enough I am more than enough [Music] comments great his last year I mean good data whoever puts the slides together does a good job not sure who that is there good job you one I appreciate the data especially at the beginning it kind of sets the you know know what we're looking at that's good thank you always good to see the

data because with three elementaries and while we have curriculum that's very similar each school is very different in its makeup extremely different and so it all everybody has different needs and I I just wanted to comment on the the conscious discipline goal that Kell that's one of Kelly's five goals that she has with me and it it was mind mindblowing to me when I went over to meet with her and we've gone we've looked at that data and like where they are at this time of the school year it's like great because you know just a couple years ago they're they're both like we are overwhelmed in dealing with student discipline how can we be instructional leaders to our teachers when all we're doing is putting out kid fires and so it's amazing so thank

you Tammy if you didn't know like LED that and kind of like led us on our conscious discipline like Journey starting out with like Kelly the first year right when I first started um with assistant principal and then um then brought me along and then did some things just like as our administrative team within so like our teachers didn't realize we were doing some conscious because like we said it started with us first so um as an admin team we kind of did the journey on our own first and then started like sneaking things in that they didn't really know were there um and then this year Jam's kind of um brought on board and did monthly um PDS with with the staff and then the whole group and then plans to kind of take

it a little bit more even in depth as we move into next year but wanted to kind of get them like a little bit of a taste and I think it shows um that they're really trying and that before it was like just hand over the student like you deal with it I don't want any part but um I handle like and deal with the majority of the discipline not all like thank goodness I have support on the backup days that I just can't but um they are no longer like wanting me to just do all of it but like how can they be in that rebuilding of the connection piece and they're asking like what can I do better what can what missing skill that the student have like how can I better support

them in my room so that we don't have this again not a here you go like you fix it right they're wanting to take ownership and I think that's pretty big they have to because it sends a great message to the to kids because the minute you as a teacher send a kid to the office that's showing that kid you are not in control like I'm going to send you to the people that are in charge so it's it's good stuff so good work I have to say the um as I mentioned we we just toured Columbia we toured all the schools and on behalf of the board I was very impressed we we stepped into a lot of classrooms and just the caliber of our teachers that I mean just the just variations of

using the various Technologies when we were in there uh kids very attentive to what was being done I would it just touched my heart that that that we have that kind of people that are taking care of our kids and that's you know we're put on this board to make sure that we represent the parents and um I was very proud of of all the administrators all the staff all the uh AIDS and volunteers and cafeteria people whoever else that we ran into um just very proud of our school corporation all right uh moving on to action items first one's recommendation to approve the following policy changes policy 1230 policy 322.0261 reading so this is the we'll vote on these is there a motion to accept the changes to the policies I'll make a motion

right it's your second second all right any further discussion yeah how did we uh how did our superintendent go from about six pages of responsibilities down to one did you have anything to do with that I could fill probably 12 or 15 maybe the lines were a little longer on the uh and I got another meeting with Ryan next month so there'll be more policies coming all right all those in favor signify by sign of I I all those oppose same sign the motion passes next is the consideration and recommendation to approve the memorandum of understanding regarding the reunification site the logosport junior high school to the begin New Beginnings Church not much to speak here this is where this is our location or if there's an emergency or a situation where we TR move

our our kids to uh and and we thank New Beginnings for offering to house us and that's such a need is there a motion to accept this so move is there a second I'll second any further discussion you draft these bro um I have in the past I think that's a variation of one to n that's what we do now we just insert cut money we've been saving some money we cut Pace don't miss that pH I saw a we ass iig you that was his that's not our lingo all right all those in favor SE to 5 by sign of I I all those oppos same sign the motion passes next is recommendation consideration to approve the resolution 031 02025 authorizing the submission of the 13 flexibility waiver yeah and that is just getting

permission from um the board to go ahead to apply to the state of Indiana to get the waiver so that uh we exceed the number of um instructional minutes during the school year and so this allows us then to allows me to apply for two professional development days where we don't have to have um synchronous learning for our students so can be fully uh focused on teacher professional development all right all right um make a motion uh do I have a motion interest of synchronicity so mov is for a second who made it mil second I'll second than you all right any further discussion all those in favor signifi by a sign of I I all those oppos same sign motion passes next we move on to First readings you will not take action on

this but we will the next meeting uh that's the consideration and recommendation to approve the Logan sport Community School Corporation classified handbook for the year 2025 2026 that is available uh at the office if anybody wants to read that all right moving on next we're moving on to the first preliminary determination hearing this a public hearing and I will apologize ahead of time I need to write a read a bunch of scripted material so it may not make any sense because there may not be anybody here that cares about it all right next time on the agenda is for the board to hold a preliminary hearing on the proposed project if you're interested in speaking at the hearing please make sure that you have signed the sign-in sheet in uh which you can include your

name and your address which if you have if you need to it's over here with no a all right um after the presentation by the administration and the advisers there'll be an opportunity for the public to make comments about the project at the hearing we will ask that each person limit their comments to 3 minutes and that topic be limited to the proposed project under consideration uh the notice of the plary determination hearing was published as legally required at this time I ask that Mr Brad Rosie explain the purpose of the hearing Mr Rosie pursue to Indiana code 6-11-20 d3.5 the school corporation must hold two public hearings and adopt a resolution to preliminarily determine to issue bonds or enter a lease for a project which has a total project cost and excess of certain

thresholds these public hearings and future consideration of resolutions are the very beginning of the legal process we note that no board action is legally required at this hearing rather this hearing is solely to hear public comment regarding the project thank you we'll now hear from Mr Greg correct about the process of inter termining and communicating the project to the community and the need for the project Mr correct yeah we simply uh are at a point again with our capital projects fund uh where our campus has aging buildings we have equipment that readily needs needs replaced from time to time and this is a way for us to secure funding for those Capital Improvements for our campus um this is the first hearing and then as we move forward the next couple of months we'll have

additional meetings to further uh go through this process and identify things such as um what we might use project funds for um which will include some improvements at the localport high school as well as other needs campus wide okay we now hear from Mr GRE again about how the proest project meets the needs as just described Mr GRE yeah again our facilities are are uh rather Aging in many in many ways uh we have one new building but all the rest of them are 30 years older or better uh and and these funds will help us again achieve and replace funds that we've lost through the circuit breaker process over the years and uh this is our tool for for managing the uh ongoing improvements to facilities okay thank you we now hear from Baker

Tilly Representatives on how the post project will be financed as well as information about the effect on the on the typical T property taxpayer good evening thank you for having me I'm Tyler buff holdz with Baker tiller Municipal advisers I'm here with my colleague Anna Medina and I'll be walking through the financial implications of the Propst project so first I'll start with I'm just showing your current outstanding that you have two outstanding bonds right now the 2021 bonds and the 2023 bonds and on the next page is a better visual for that um you can see that in 2025 and 2026 you have General obligation Bond payments from 2020 the 2023 bonds and then that's dropping um so what we're looking at doing with structuring these bonds is to uh just keep the payments level

where they currently are and um we have structured if you put forward a couple slides um just the maximum payment that will keep your payments at that current level over the 20 years um which would be1 18,8 55,000 um and now we're just setting a maximum you don't have to issue the entire amount you could split it up into multiple Bond issues over multiple years um this is just making it so that we don't have to go through and approve the go and go through this process again in the future um but if you were to issue the full uh Max um we would estimate that you would have about 17.27% we'd estimated about 15,6 78,000 U maximum annual payment we would set at 5 million just to give you flexibility I know that currently

your payments aren't that high but um just over the years um as you issue bonds um we would just give the flexibility to do that and then like I said we would not be anticipating increasing your payments so we anticipate no Debt Service tax rate impact um and as I said you don't have to issue this full amount you could issue smaller amounts that would just be paid back more quickly than the 20 years um but you can see the visual for this full amount on the next page um you can see that you would just fill in where the payment drop starting in 2026 and that shaded bar there is capitalized interest and that would be just because that's an interest only payment and we can't so we can't minimize that to just that

small sliver of the dark bar you see there so it be proceeds you'd set aside at closing to pay interest costs so we would keep your Levy the same at that um approximately $4.5 million and that amount is about 1.24 million now if you issue less than the 18 million that would be a much lower number that you would set aside and then you'd have payments of about a million do and or a million $774,000 through 2040 and then when your outstanding bonds are paid off um we'd have larger payments there towards the end um and like I said if you issued less than that we would just have them paid off over a shorter period of time uh but that's all I have don't have to answer any questions questions comments all right thank

you thank you well now open the public hearing remember if you'd like to speak please sign in on the sheet located with Mrs Bartlett um as I mentioned earlier we'll ask that you state your name and address limit your comment to the propos project and financing keep any comments to three minutes and avoid being repetitive if possible may I have the sign and she to you have there's no one on the sign in sheet I didn't see anybody uh and then we'll go through those names um anybody else that has not signed in like to say something all right uh thank you for all participated in this hearing we appreciate your time and interest in the project and the future of our community please know that just it's just the first step in the legal

process no board action is legally required at this hearing rather this hearing is solely to hear the public com in the board will continue to work with the administration and professionals to look for efficiencies to conserve tax dollars while meeting our educational needs the board will hold a second public Hearing in in this board room on April 14th 2025 at 5:00 p.m. that's it so we will end the public hearing and move on to our compartment stuffff Business Report Mr correct yeah just one additional item for your benefit tonight uh next meeting we would look to uh bring the PNC representative from the male trust uh before the board there a couple Capital Improvements we'd like you to consider and before we do that uh it' be time for an appropriate for an update on

the trust and uh a pending confirmation on that date with the rep we'll bring that that uh gentleman before you and then uh maybe consider a couple items one happens to be a safety item that we'd like to tackle uh and the other would be some equipment that is beyond its useful life or very near it and Mr veils would like to has to do with sound he'd like to continue to have good sound in that facility and would like to do some replacement all right questions comments no thank you next is the technology report Mr fall uh just one item the fiber project that we started to reconnect this building to the Intermediate School is complete they finished that last week and so that line is ready to go great all right questions or

comments no moving on the curriculum report Mrs Rosie and Dr deal so um as Mrs Pearson mentioned in her presentation she was talking about ie she said basically everything I wanted to say so so I really I don't have anything else to add no I'm kidding no um so I is wrapping up this week we just really have a handful of students left to test um that started last week and so now um for our students who did not pass um we'll start a boot camp like they had talked about where basically um we are drilling students on those skills where they are lacking um and this year for the first time and we really just learned about this in the last month our third graders who did not pass will have two opportunities in

the summer to retake the test so what we'll do is um the window opens in on May 12th so we'll give them the opportunity to take it again at that point um and then those who do not pass then will go to summer school and they'll take it at the end of summer school so it is nice that the state gave them two more opportunities to take the assessment since you know now we're looking at retention so um that's the score started coming in on Friday night about 9:15 and that's pretty much what I've been doing ever since then not to make myself look a certain way but that's what I was doing Friday night because yeah um that's all I have right de in terms of secondary land um I have a dissertation from

Michael Miller just to go over just to scroll um got the job quit sucking up it's okay but what I liked about Mrs Pearson's presentation is just the focus on data because as teachers we have standards that we need to meet and the most important element is that our students are suc successful and that they're prepared for whatever is past high school and so we are starting common content assessments um this nine weeks at the high school within our curricular teams so like Algebra 1 would have a common assessment world history would have a common assessment and the whole goal is to be able to see what our students are able to master and what we need to be able to retach it's just a best teaching practice and so we have a new tool

that we're going to be using some teachers will be um piloting that and so we'll have a one stop shop for all of our data so it'll be really nice and friendly to look at the other thing is that the speech team they concluded their season at um in terms of fifth place at the doublea rankings at the 2025 state tournament that was just held in fisers they competed against 21 ablea schools and 62 schools overall and so we had 17 students that participated in 24 events and the team Advanced eight quarterfinalists and two semi-finalists so fantastic accom lishment um the boys basketball sectional is also over and they put up a strong fight against maqua and the high school just wants to give a huge shout out to Mr strong the athletic department staff

all the workers volunteers to make that happen they're looking forward to holding the boys basketball Regional game uh this Saturday followed by the semi-state game on the 22nd and then last but not least for the high school prom is this Saturday if you guys aren't busy I think they're looking for chaperon so that'd be a great opportunity in terms of the junior high they've been working hard to fill some teaching positions and getting some really great qualified candidates they had great data from the stamp test so we had our dual language immersion students take a stamp test which is basically a language proficiency test and we have 19 students going on to the high school that will be earning between four to eight high school credits already as 13-year-olds and four students that qualified for

that certificate of multilingual proficiency which is very impressive um let's see local ma math placement data also suggests that we're going to need some more Algebra 1 classes in our 8th grade which is fantastic so we're showing growth within math um they have a third quarter incentive trip planned for Friday fr the 21st I'm sure they're also looking for chaperon for that and then um the eighth grade boys basketball team is competing in the state tournament next weekend and then last but not least from the career center the construction trades class is currently prefabricating walls for Habitat for Humanity which is fantastic that's it good was one that I didn't get to you until late but our Junior Barry Bots um got first place um that was Robert Justin here in Brooklyn Drummond but Mr

Hunt is their sponsor and they were very excited about about finishing first anything else I did understand too that Mrs starky volunteered to work the boy State basketball concession stand Rosie and I did our turn Saturday night done it's about time you start doing something for the school corporation I do my best never a moment left open uh all right so now on the superintendent's comments Mr starky I will say just a few things um Friday night's game with Peru was great and there was it was so nice to see the atmosphere in the very Bowl so many people it was great and it was nice for the kids to redeem themselves for the first game they had against Peru which wasn't very pretty and Saturday the Barry Bowl was full um I got sick

of hearing that ball kid's name from maqua for scoring I was happy to hear at the beginning because he quickly got three fouls and then he figured out uhoh because if they don't have him they're in trouble but anyway because Rosie and I were in the concession stand so we didn't see much of the game but we heard a lot but anyway was it was a great thing um so obviously the variable will be showcased again this weekend um I just have two people to meet with with for midyear goal meetings and then I'll start all over again on the on the on the end of the year goal meetings and um I have completed um my sitd Downs for the second semester at the preschool Century crew Center Logansport Junior High and I'll be

at Landis bright and early with five dozen donuts tomorrow morning at 7:30 so um it is obviously a testing season and believe it or not this Friday ends the third grading period so we'll be down to 9 weeks of school left which is unbelievable um I um I'll go do this one then I'll end on a high note um you know I I know as I talk to our teachers I'm trying to calm the calm the nerves calm the nerves and keep the water uh steady you know there's a lot of legislation talk out there and we have absolutely no IDE I can't tell them what's going to happen they ask and I can't tell them I don't know but I I continue to tell them rest assured whatever happens we will continue to do

what's in the best interest of our kids here and we will figure it out like we always do right Greg that's what we always say we always figure it out and we will um and then today I attended um um panel I was a part of a panel at IU cooko talking to freshman education majors and so there were about 20 some of them in this meeting um and it was just nice to talk to them about you know what it what it's really like in school and talk about the good stories that we have about our kids and um just just share with them that information and answer their questions and I got to see uh a couple of our former LHS students so and the kids ask great questions anyway that's all I

have all right thank you questions or comments no all right moving on this is our second opportunity for public comments you'd like to step forward you can and give us your name and address Josh no okay I just came to see the choir kids okay you could have left earlier you should have snuck out when they snuck out that door all right now moving on to border comments Mrs bird well I just want to Echo what Mike said earlier um thank you to all the administrators and staff that we met with over the last few weeks um I know we took up a big chunk of your time and and I know that's important but uh the visits were great and I really learned a lot and enjoyed um talking to everyone thank you right

Mrs grth um same thing um I the the the tours were fantastic so so enlightening it it's great meeting everybody um as a high school teacher it was so neat to go back and the creativity in the elementary schools just blows me away and and the things that you do just fantastic and and and uh yeah the Intermediate School yeah the whole I mean all of it was just I really enjoyed it so game up though at the high school a little more visual even though they I think we have to take some of it down because C we'll measure 20% Mr Hess um my condolences and thoughts go out to Mrs wolf on the passing her mom a former secretary within the corporation longtime secretary she and my mom were were best friends they

were both secretaries in the corporation got to know each other very well so uh she lost her mom 100 years old 100 years old so but a former employee and again thanks to administrators and staff for opening up their buildings uh I'll publicly apologize to most of you in here that I didn't make your tours um just have a situation going on for a few weeks now that it's very uncomfortable standing for an extended period of time and um so I apologize for not I didn't want to slight anybody but uh which ones didn't shoot goats wheelchairs you can come I'll I'll get to that point I didn't want to be at that point yet so we have preschoolers they could push it they will push you nothing wrong with that yeah that sounds exciting

next tour Mr cuppy uh just a few donations to point out uh forc Health gave $1,080 to Lis to support their PBS reward initiative Moose Lodge of logal sport gave $500 to the academy um for their prom which is pretty cool and Vineyard Community Church gave $500 to Columbia Elementary to help pay off some student loan balances student lunch balances of some families that were having some hardship so that's really cool so we want to highlight that that's all right I'll make one more tour comment um I want to thank Mrs starky and other and all the administrators I was really impressed as we went through the school how many kids names the principles knew or Mrs starky knew um which really makes you feel he got boots on the ground these aren't as to

say in this day and age where where there's so much stuff that happens in the office where you got parents to deal with or whatever else um I was just very impressed as we were walking around and they would recognize kids and actually these kids recognize them too um so it just was I just thank you I know that's going above and beyond the normal Call of Duty what's expected um as I say I was also in to the teachers you know I guess they knew we were coming so that may have may have altered things because we are so powerful um but but but it was really neat to see I say you know I mean through the years I mean just in my 16 years to see us go from the kind of

whiteboards we had to now the kind of Technology that're on really TV screens they can just write with their finger and think this is pretty cool so we got to see a lot of different stuff and I say um very proud very I'm proud of all the administrators I say again I was really impressed as I saw the way they interacted with the kids and we were walking through the hallways that was really cool because that really I mean that is it's been special that's all I've got now it's time for signatures we are adjourned all
