We're going to be going against Purdue Polytenic, which is in Anglewood, if you didn't know. Whoever wins tonight goes up against Hobart at the state finals hosted by the arena by the by the arena at Innovation Mile located in Hamilton County which is just 30 minutes away of North Indianapolis. So, the rule set for this particular round is a 4v4 crew battle, which is when players from opposing teams take turns fighting in one v one matches. When the winner of a match carrying the remaining stocks, which are their lives, to face the next member of the opposing team, coaches must disclose with one another in private the fighter for the first player on each team in the set. And after a
005player has lost the game, they will be eliminated from that set. So, they >> So, it's like an elimination battle. Definitely. You could play every person on Purdue's team if you stay alive the whole time. >> That is true. But only >> How rare would that be? >> Oh, it depends on the other team you're playing against. depends on the other team. >> Purdue is a tough team as we know. And after a player has won a game, they must continue with the same fighter until they lose within that set. And any stocks that a player has lost must be relinquished at

So if they lost the stock in the first game, they have to jump off because you you can only keep the stocks you kept, you know, by the end of the round. >> Yes. >> Yeah. And this can get very intense when both characters don't have a recovery and they're falling towards towards the blast zone which makes you lose a stock. >> But what are the odds we see that tonight, Jordan? >> Uh probably not that high, unfortunately. If you're focusing on other stuff, you're going to be making wrong decisions. So, as you can see, Deacon over there is playing as the Ice Climbers, and the opponents have chosen Falco. Fun fact, Falco is a bird who cannot fly. Now, is it fair that Deacon gets two players and the other player only has one? >> It actually is fair because a that that control that character is really hard to control and takes a lot of practice to do the stuff that Deacon is doing. Um, and also the fact that if Falco manages to kill the one in the green poncho, which is the main character of the two, then both characters
012die. But if he kills the one in the yellow coat, if he kills the one in the yellow coat, then he then he just dies. So Deacon, it's in Deacon's best interest to keep both of them alive. So he's going to go get his >> So Deacon has actually picked up two two wins so far. Um, so Deacon has this insanely cool move where he can basically grab you and turn it into a stalk loss based on how much damage he does. Oh,

And even better, he didn't even lose a stock. >> An incredible performance. Again, I think if you break it down, the fact that he has two characters seems to be an a decided advantage. >> Maybe I I don't see it that way personally because because like I said earlier, the Ice Climbers are pretty hard to play. But since Deacon is so good at keeping both of them alive, he can use he can use each other's he can use both of his characters mallets to really rack up the damage. >> Now, does does Deacon's damage he took in round one? Does that damage carry over into >> That does not
014carry over. Only the stocks lost carry over. So, you could be at over 200%, but if you do not lose that stock, you start the next round at 0%. So that's just another incentive to uh >> to keep your stocks in check. All right. So it appears I don't really know why they're changing the stage. The stage doesn't change until like they uh until they actually win the round, you know, take out their four, you know. All right. So it looks like the other team has brought out Cloud, who is a very popular character in this game, actually. >> And and Cloud would be from what game? >> Cloud is from Final Fantasy 7, which I'm pretty sure released on the PlayStation. Cloud has this ability called his limit. So when he presses down and
015the B button, he charges up his limit ability, which when it's activateated, you can see the bar at the bottom. When that's fully activated, it gives an access to a really powerful special move. There are a lot of special moves he could choose from. That one be that projectile being one of them. So it is in Claude's best interest to keep the distance and keep that limit gauge up. >> Now Jordan, I also noticed that he is at 119%. That's a lot more than 100%. >> That is definitely a lot more. >> So, we're trying to get to 200%. >> No, we're trying we're trying to get them off of the stage, but higher percentages allows you to do that. See, the way damage works in this game is the more damage you do, the
016more the percentage goes up. And the higher the percentage is, the higher the knock back your character does. Okay? So, you could use basically the same attack, but if your opponent is at a higher percentage, it'll send them farther. So Deacon's main goal is to get them off of the stage like I said. So he's got >> So would a good strategy be to just stay in the middle of the stage and never move like not moving the back pieces when you play checkers? >> Uh not really cuz then your opponent would come and fight you like he would come and hit you, you know? So Cloud's got to keep his distance and use his projectiles and choose his moves very wisely because the wrong move Yeah. can lead to stuff like that like them
017getting hit. All right. So, so Cloud managed to make it right back on the stage. He's choosing his moves carefully. He doesn't want to get punished for any of his moves. All right. So, Deacon's on the edge. He's trying He's using projectiles. >> All right. So, one thing I don't think we mentioned. Oh, there's Deacon's first >> thrown against the uh the camera there. >> Thrown right against the camera. That happens when your when your opponent knocks when your opponent like hits you to the top of the blast zone really quickly. That has a chance of happening. It doesn't really do anything other than look. >> It looks like street cool. Yeah, >> it almost was 3D. Yeah, they >> felt like they were coming at her. >> Mhm. Almost came in like they threw
018like his opponent threw Deacon at us. That would be That's actually really crazy. I wonder how that would work if you were wearing 3D glasses. Uh, one thing I don't think we have talked about is the score at the top of the screen where it says 8 to 11. All right, so the score at the top counts down from 12, which is the amount of stocks remaining. So our opponent team has eight now seven stocks remaining while our team still has 11. >> So you would say Bluffin is in a favorable position at this point in the match. >> Definitely. And there's that there's that zero to death in on a roll. You would say >> that is six stocks taken while only losing one. If he keeps that up, he can take out the
019entire team by himself. >> And we've said that very rarely happens. >> That very rarely happens. We could be witnessing history at this current moment. >> Absolute history. Absolutely amazing as well. Oh my gosh. So, the opponents are probably they're probably scratching their heads right now thinking, "How are we going to deal with this Ice Climbers?" Because the thing about Ice Climbers, I don't think a lot of people actually play this character. So, they probably don't have a lot of uh >> what if they they picked a opponent or a player that had some heat. >> A character that had some heat. That would not >> fire. that would not really affect the Ice Climbers as much as it would affect other opponents, unfortunately. I don't I don't think the Ice Climbers would be like

021Now, why would why would he do that? Why would he jump? It seemed like he did that on his own. He did do that on his own actually because he lost his stock previously. He lost his stock previously and he and he can't get stocks back. Yep. So that's that's basically how we know we just how we know uh where they're at cuz it doesn't really make sense that Cloud took a stock in the previous round and then Deacon automatically gets >> Oh, we just hit him with his own fire hydra. >> Oh my gosh. >> That's got to be illegal. >> It is not illegal actually. 023right. Does the side be shields on the on the platform? >> Jordan, I did not know what color shoes Pac-Man You never seen him have footwear? >> Oh, yeah. He definitely has footwear, especially in later uh Namco games like Pac-Man World 2. I played that one all the time on the Gamecube. He had shoes, he had gloves, even had a nose, which was awesome. All right. Hidden hidden Pac-Man all all sorts of ways. >> So, when they hang on the ledge there, Jordan, why not just smash his fingers? >> Why not smash his fingers? Because >> make him fall off. Yeah, cuz when someone first grabs the ledge, they have a bit of invincibility, a bit of intangibility, if you will. They can't be hit for like a few frames. >> So that so that

So they're trying to make sure not to do that. So, so, uh, Izzy is currently playing as Mithra, but anytime she wants to, she can press down B and turn into Pyra. So, the two
034have really two have kind of different moves. Like Mithra is more floaty and has bigger hitboxes, but Pyra is less floaty and has uh tinier hit boxes, but she does a crapload of damage. So Izzy's got to pick and choose what kind of stuff she wants to do. But that just means her mixup game is really good cuz she's got two characters to work with and she's got a lot of moves in those characters as well. Look at that. All right. >> Seems very fast, Jordan. >> It is very fast. That's a that's definitely a good thing to uh for a Cyber Tiger. You got to keep up with the match. You know, the game's moving and you got to be moving with it. You don't want to get run over. >> Do you want
035to have a character that's faster or a character that's stronger and more more powerful to deliver that high level of damage? >> It all depends on the character you're playing against. If you're playing against a character that's fast, you would probably want a fast character to keep up with them. But if there's someone really strong, then you'll want to then you're going to want a strong character to hit him. >> A big win there. >> A big win for Izzy. Terry >> Purdue. Basically, uh when Terry's at over 100% or at 100%, he gets his go moves, which are basically super powerful moves. He's just got to be on the ground to use them. So, Ezy's got to Oh, there's one of them. That's >> like a great response. >> Yep. She's got one. She's got one in the reserves and she can't pocket anything else while she has that fire hydrant. Oh, sending it over. Oh, almost hitting Pac-Man with it, but his but his shield was a little too big for it. So, it just did some shield damage, which keep in mind is still good. It just didn't do any damage. Kind of like that. And Jayen can follow you and hit you with an up air, hitting you even higher. Pretty crazy. But yeah, Jaden's pretty much just keeping all those landmines down. He wants Isabelle to come over and hit him. But Isabelle can pocket his uh pocket his
050projectiles if he does feel the need to use them. So, Cloud's probably going to need to get close to use his uh limit, at least safely anyways. But, he just ended up using it for recovery. And keep in mind, when he does have a limit, his recovery is really good. Really good. It seems to me like that fishing rod is much like the Mortal Kombat move that Scorpion would use. >> Oh, yeah. 052stage. Isabelle's recovery is also really good cuz not only does he have the amazing fishing rod, but those balloons, those balloons are really good. So, shielding that move and punishing it with a forward air and a neutral air, but Cloud kind of just got knocked over. Um, and he kind of laid there for a little bit. Oh, he shielded the first blow, but but actually missed it on the initial recoil. He ran in too fast. Oh, does a neutral air and Cloud's recovery doesn't really go horizontal.
