Hi, Emily. Let's >> call the meeting to order. >> When we have a small crowd, everybody gets like their own personal shout outs. Like, we just say hello. >> Wait, is that >> okay? Beth, can you please call the roll? Can I get some order in my board? >> That's Haley. I wouldn't poke at that. >> Turner had her baby. >> What? >> 10 pounds. >> Okay. I actually have one. >> I I brought mine, too. So, >> this is the one time I didn't bring my computer. I actually have >> Is it I We We can I have it, too. Is it >> Sorry, I didn't. >> Is it Is it just one-sided? >> Oh, we're missing half. >> We're just going to do half the business. It's fine. >> It's fine. >> Wait,

she hasn't called us to order. I did. >> No one seconded it. >> No. Well, >> no one thirded it. >> We haven't voted. >> We don't actually do that on the call to order. We just take the role. But >> I was trying for Hay. I can I can I can even print it right now to the copier upstairs. >> Okay. >> Oh, yeah. >> There's probably one Haley, can you can you do the um Can you just go in the middle school office and do you could probably just do it right in right in there? >> I'll be right back. >> No problem. Okay. So, put a >> put a hold on the meeting for a minute. >> We're not going to get to page two until >> that's true. I mean, yeah,

that's true. We might as well just go ahead with page one until we get >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, yeah. Beth, please call the role. >> Yeah. >> Mrs. G, >> Mr. Busay >> here, >> Mrs. >> here. >> Mr. Oliger >> here, >> and Miss Wasman >> present. I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Um, is there a motion to approve the board minutes from our last regular meeting? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Okay. Any um discussion or comments? >> Right. Beth, can you call the role? >> Mrs. Gart, >> I. >> Mr. Guay. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Matnik, >> I abain. >> Okay. Mr. Olinger.

>> Hi. >> And Miss Westman. >> I. Is there anyone um who would like to speak before the board today? >> Okay, none of that. >> Sure. So, as part of our commitment to authentic and meaningful learning experiences, eighth graders will be writing letters to US veterans traveling to Washington DC through the Honorflight program that emphasizes gratitude and recognition for veteran service while strengthening written communication skills and civic understanding. and I happen to just be somewhat familiar with this program and I just think that it is a wonderful thing that uh we are doing. I also wanted to give a shout out to uh we're excited to continue our attributes for success students recognition program for the month of March. Each month one student per grade, grades 4 through 12 is selected via staff nomination

for demonstrating one or more of the following attributes: intentional communicator, curious innovator, resilient, and integrity. These of course I think you'll recognize from the work that we were inseparably part of as part of our strategic plan. Um and if you'll notice there is uh Ellie Guousay is pictured there. >> She's one of our recipients and some of you may know her. >> Very cool. >> Some better than others. >> Uh so that's pretty cool and exciting as well. Wanted to give kudos uh to the cast and crew of Disney's Little Mermaid. what a phenomenal production uh that they had again this year. What it's always uh mindblowing uh to see what a school district our size is able to do when so many people come together. I know Emily, thank you for all of the

hours and hours and hours of extra work and your role in making that production such an amazing event for our students and our community. Uh wanted to give a shout out to our boys varsity basketball team. So tomorrow uh they play Berlin Highland Thursday night at 6 PM in Athens, Ohio at the combo at OU. Uh just uh will say I think in the MAC there was one undefeated 31-0 basketball team. It wasn't OU. It was Miami Redhawks in case anybody is keeping track. >> Yes, it was. But >> I am. >> Uh, thank you. Thank you, Emily. I appreciate that. That's good to hear. I'm glad I have one fan. You know, interestingly, about 25 years ago, I was coaching eighth grade boys basketball at New Albany. And as part of that, you had

to scout five games, you know, and I'm like 24 years old. And my first scouting game, I got assigned uh Berlin Highland >> and I knew nothing about Berlin Highland. And so >> country. So, I show up to this Friday night Berlin Highland basketball game. >> It's pronounced Berlin, by the way. Not Berlin. Berlin. >> Berlin. And it was like a Hooers movie a little bit is the way I would describe it. I'll never forget as long as I live. Anyway, total aside. >> I'm from that area. >> Um, just a a quick update. As you know and can see, modular classrooms are in full swing. Uh, really coming together. Uh, at the May at at this board meeting. Um, oh, I'm sorry. At the May 13th board of education meeting, Lisa Sullivan, Matt Wyan,

and Jim Buffer will present the logistics plan for the 2627 school year when Stevenson Elementary will be relocated to the 412 campus in the modulars. This presentation will include, but not be limited to, start and end times for both Stevenson and Larson Middle School, drop off and pickup, traffic flow patterns, lunch times, recess, lunch locations, and of course, safety and security. Um, so please, in particular, for those parents of Stevenson, if if you're interested, either attend or watch uh that board meeting postcript. Uh, the board votes tonight to transfer $7.2 2 million or consider uh transferring $7.2 million from the general fund to the construction of the south side of the K12 athletic complex that will include concessions uh uh new west third grand entry gathering plaza and restrooms. Subcontractor bids uh have been in

um for both projects. Early indications are that that we are on budget. Thus, we are cautiously optimistic. you know, right now it's been projections. Um, but this will ratify the budget more uh substantially. We have two upcoming city of Grand View Heights Planning Commission meetings to get approval for the southside of the K12 athletic complex design as well, and I think that's next Wednesday, actually. actually I think it's a week from today. Uh as well as the implementation of the mono pole to consolidate all cell ground uh and tower equipment to one pole. Uh we'll really clean up the entire space significantly. So that isn't happening a week from Wednesday. That'll be down the road. But that is just a preview of some things to come. Um, paths and passion, real stories, real careers will

feature Jenny Britain, founder of Jenny Splendid Ice Cream and Flora and Company CEO and Carmen Rouso, Jr., co-founder and design practice leader of Realm Collaborative and a student-ledd conversation. That's tomorrow, March 12th, at 7 p.m. in the Grand View Heights High School auditorium. Britain and Rouso will share their real journeys behind their meaningful careers. This event is in collaboration with the Grand View Heights Public Library and is open to students, families, and community members. Free Jenny's ice cream to the first 400 attendees. Uh some save the dates. Uh Monday, April 6th, districtwide late start. Friday, April 10th, the Bobcat Bash. Always a a big fun community event. Friday, April 17th, coffee and conversation with myself. Saturday, May 16th, we have scheduled a groundbreaking event as well as an open house for Stevenson. The groundbreaking event

will start at 10:00. The open house will immediately follow till uh 12:30. >> And that concludes my update. >> Any questions? >> Oh, wanted to Oh, I'm sorry. No, you're good. >> One more thing. Wanted just to mention and give Haley Head uh huge props for the Tribe Village magazine. We had not only uh cover story of our new AD Logan Dunn but like a five-page story on him as well as in here a historical story on Stevenson Elementary that was wonderful as well. So if you haven't seen that, please do take a look. >> Great. Any uh questions for Andy? >> Okay. Uh then we'll move on to construction for the core team. I there was a signage meeting yesterday. I wasn't able to attend. Uh do you have a update? >> Yeah, it

first of all it's exciting. Uh I think it looks great. Um I think we landed the plane on you know general ideas of uh matching the um entryway signage to signage on the uh press box uh signage on the uh north end building. So I think it looks fantastic. >> You did a great job. Any other I think >> any other major updates really right now? >> Not that I haven't covered. >> Why would it ever? >> We'll figure that's what happens with printers. Every time you want to use it, there's no paper in my Right. >> Thank you, Haley. >> Looks like our meeting just got longer. >> No, it did. It did not. >> Um Okay. Well, so though under construction, we do have recommendations for approval. Um, this is, you know, that

we had the first reading last week to talk about um the money to be spent for the South End piece. So, it's B1 through there's more here than I remembered. Um, six one through six. >> So moved. >> Okay. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Uh, just a couple things if if I may. Number two and three are contract addendums for Perkins and Will Concord Addis the uh specific to the southside and Oakland parking lot extension. As all of you probably know, that was not part of the original scope. Therefore, there was a need to do a contract addendum. Um the sidewalk easement, this standard basic stuff. I did investigate that. That's number five. And then the termination of telecommunication leases, that is specific and directly tied to the monopole and

consolidating all of that. So that's on here. That's number six. I just wanted to mention that to all of you. Great. >> Okay. Beth, can you please call the role? >> Mrs. Gart. Hi. >> Mr. Guousay. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Matney. >> Hi. >> Mr. Olinger. >> Hi. >> And Miss Wasmith. >> I. >> All right. Beth, you're up. >> Treasurer's presentation. >> Okay. So, I just have a quick um recap with some financial highlights to share. Our general fund. Um overall we are right where we expect to be. The property tax settlement is a little bit behind um I mentioned last month a little bit behind schedule where we normally are at this point in the year. The the um we as of the end of February we had a little under a million

dollars of advances. We've gotten quite a bit more the last couple weeks um uh in March. So >> is this supposed to be on the screens? >> Oh, I am so sorry. >> No, it's okay. I just What? Yep. >> It's probably not 100% necessary if we just listen to you, but it's helpful. >> I do like the state. >> Okay. >> Um so uh so anyway, we are uh receiving more advances and that that settlement will be coming in it. Our cash balance got um probably the lowest it's been just because of that that time of year between tax advances um is the lowest point. and then with that tax settlement delayed um but we made it through and um we've got a couple big advances since then. So um we'll look to see

where that tax settlement uh finalizes um in terms of our budget, our state funding um right where we expect it to be for this point in the year. Our interest revenue 727,000. So that's um just under 80% of our budget. So we're a little ahead ahead of our projections on that which is good news. Um our expenditures uh for the general fund are about two percentage points under our budget right now. So that's really good news. Um we do have a couple expenditures um in particular some um student equipment that we typically buy um in the next couple months late in the year for the following year. And so um so that's not entirely unexpected, but I think we are a little bit under um even with that taken into consideration. So, um, good news

to report there. The investments, um, not much has changed. Star Ohio ticked down a few, um, basis points since last month. Um, US bank account, um, rates remained pretty much unchanged. So, our permanent improvement fund, um, like our general fund, has gotten a couple tax advances. So, our balance is about 350,000. Um, we've got a couple ongoing projects I've mentioned. um uh last month uh too as well the the um interior design work and and the um softball field um sound system and and some additional signage. The construction fund our um interest for the month was um just over 125,000 project to date is just under 1.5 million. Um so that's good. Um it's again working with our investment advisors at Meter to to maximize that um those proceeds while we're not using them. Um

same thing that the interest rates the US bank account for the construction fund is just a little bit higher. You can see there at 3.94. Um same rate for Star Ohio though. So that is all I've got. >> Great. >> Any questions for Beth? Um, on the the general fund history, I noticed there was a big drop from fiscal year 2025 to 26, but I don't see like the line item. Is that is that related to the project? >> So, you know what I'm talking about. >> Yeah. So, you're looking at the bottom line kind of that bottom line cash balance. The the um probably the biggest thing there is in June of last year, we transferred 7.2 million out of the general fund. And so if you're looking at um February year-to date this

year versus February year to date last year, um that transfer had not occurred yet last year. Okay. Um so that's the biggest difference. Um our taxes, again, our tax collections right now, if you look at our taxes this year to last year, they're going to be considerably lower because that that um >> that settlement date got pushed back a little bit. >> I see that up the top there. Yeah. >> Yeah. So those would be the two um the two things that would be causing that. Yeah, good question, Kevin. >> Any other questions? Okay. Uh, finance committee report, excuse me, we met last week. The major the the biggest thing that we talked about was the um the food prices for adult meals, which let's look at. It's number eight under recommendations for approval. >>

Mhm. >> Um >> 525. >> Yeah. To move it from 450 to 525 for adult. So that's that's literally talking about, you know, staff members who are >> buying lunch here. And maybe Beth can help me here, but it has to do with there's a rule about the pricing for student lunches versus adult meals and that there has to be a ratio um that is, you know, governed that we were not in alignment with. So we had to do a change to be proper. >> Yeah. And it really it kind of boils down to the federal subsidy. The federal subsidy applies to student lunches but not staff lunches. Um and so Department of Education has a formula that that when we put in our student lunch prices and they take into consideration the subsidy, we've

got to make sure that our adult prices are um set at least that much. So yeah. >> Yes. So and then it does I mean as with everything that we typically talk about with finance, I don't think we're out of line if you compared us with anyone else. Um we did talk a little bit about the construction project and more so um Concordatis as our owner's rep uh some lessons learned through the last project and just exactly how we want them to display information coming to us that makes it u the most digestible and helpful. Um so that was just about you know they had put something before us and we were reacting to it and that's it but it's not final yet. I mean that that was really it. There was one other thing

about this new governmental program that you can join into that allows you to people to see so you would get a if you donate for the scholarship granting organization you can get was it tax write off and it's a full like one to one write off um in exchange for donating to a scholarship but it but it really doesn't pertain well to Graan View because it's for things like fees for all day kindergarten or for you you know, like if you had a textbook fee or activity fees, all of the things which we fortunately wave. >> Um, so anyway, we don't think it's something that's really advantageous to us at this point. But that was about it there that I can think of. And now under recommendations for approval 1 C1 through uh 10. Is

there a motion to approve those items? >> So moved. >> Do I hear a second? >> Second. Any um questions, comments? >> I have a question about the boys club volleyball. What that thousand dollars is because I thought club sports were not a um school funded piece. So, is that a donation from someone? >> It is. They've had a couple donations. um we have set up an activity fund for them even though they're a club sport because they have to pay their own officials and their own insurance and their own um some of uniforms and and some of those expenses because they are a club and so we um we basically are accounting for that money for them. Um >> does that mean that Logan pays for any of like the entries to games? >>

No. No, they pay for um so we so the Bobcat boosters um they've gotten a couple donations from to so basically we are just um holding an account for donation money that's coming in and then we're we're paying that out to cover their expenses. So they are on the hook to cover all their own expenses. >> Okay. >> Um >> but they would pay it out of that account. >> Yes. >> I see. >> When you say Logan, do you mean the athletic department? >> Correct. >> Okay. >> Yes. because that's where I was like Phillips or something. >> No, that's so their expenses are not coming out of the general athletic fund. Um >> Okay. >> So, yeah. So, we're treating it as a club sport. We're just kind of the fiscal agent for

them as >> they don't have a boosters. >> Correct. >> That would have an account. >> Yeah. Yep. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Any other questions? >> Okay. Can Beth, if you please call the RO. >> Mrs. Gart, hi. >> Mr. Guousay. Hi. >> Mrs. Matney. Hi. >> Mr. Oinger. >> Hi. >> And Miss Wasmith. Hi. >> Okay. Under personnel section 10, recommendations for approval 1 through 10. Is there a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Okay. Any um questions there? >> I jumped in front of John. Sorry. >> I just wanted to highlight two items. One, um we had a resignation. Carly Hill, third grade teacher at Stevenson. Want to just thank Carly for her service. Uh I believe her husband um got a job in South South Carolina and they're

they're relocating there. >> So uh best wishes to Carly and her family. Um and we do have that position posted as well. And then I did want to just mention uh number nine is the uh we we had a in my judgment a really thorough comprehensive hiring process led by Logan and Lyanna and Sam Belk. Uh, and this is a recommendation to the board to hire Sean Hinkle as their next varsity football coach. >> Okay. Um, Beth, can you please call the role? >> Yeah. Mrs. Gart, >> hi. >> Mr. Gusay, >> hi. >> Mrs. Matney, >> hi. >> Mr. Olinger, >> hi. >> And Miss Wman. >> Hi. >> Is there a policy committee report? >> No. We didn't meet. >> We haven't met yet, have we? >> Okay. Is there a teaching and

learning committee report? >> There is. So, um, Angie shared with us that, um, we currently have like an AI policy and guidance document which is ahead of other districts, but next year we're going to have an AI task force so that we can monitor students easing it, which is exciting. Um, I learned that next year OSU students will be AI fluid. I didn't even realize that was a term that was new to me. So, that's exciting. Um so we also there is proposed legislation for an adjustment in math and how we monitor kids who are score as advanced and accelerated um and what classes then they then get moved into. Am I remembering this correctly? Okay. um the if it passes then we would have um more kids that would be moving into advanced placement

which equals about 80% of our students. So we're not in support of this. Um and we've been the school's been writing to legislators to not pass it. Did you there you wanted to add >> you know so I would just if I may >> please do >> add I you know I I think it's another example of where local control >> is uh in in my judgment best and you know this is a microcosm of a larger conversation but yet another example of >> being legislated um uh decisions >> that uh I think we and I my sense is many other districts feel they already do a really nice job. you know, we know the students um and correspondingly think that we should be the ones that to place them in collaboration with their their

parents and the staff that serves them. Um so that's my two cents. >> Great. Thank you for adding to that. >> Um we have kids graduating from the UCIT program. Um those two have Oh, I'm sorry. We have kids graduating, two of whom have interviewed with Alfred for internships this summer, which is really exciting. And then we have another tech internship. um another tech internship to get to get for kids to get their Adobe credentials. Um and then those students would work for the school and they would get paid because it would be an internship about $17 an hour, which would be exciting. Um and I learned that we have 13 kids who are currently at the career center and 10 kids who are in a micro program, micro school for medical program, >> which

I thought was fascinating. >> Nailed it. So that's it. Any questions? >> You're like, don't don't >> I talk to us about the school supply list? >> No, school supply list. >> I have lots of questions on this. No, >> just kidding. Um, okay. So, now we're down to recommendations for approval one and two. Is there a motion? >> Second. >> Any questions on supplies? >> Is there any significant change from last year to this year? I ask it probably every year significant change >> significant supply >> to the supply list compared to prior years. >> I think it's almost identical. >> So the last eight years I approved it. It's probably okay to go this year. Okay. >> Yeah. >> I go to Staples. >> Do what? >> I go to Staples. >> Oh,

hurting muscle. Sorry. >> That's okay. >> I seconded. Can is it up for discussion? >> Are we discussing right now? Right. Yeah. >> Oh, they are >> that would us approving this have any relevance to the possible donation? >> Is it okay if we >> I think it's okay. Yeah, I think this is just a list of what um the students need and who pays for it. I think that comes later. So, um >> yeah. So, John filled me in on that and um I'll get with them and and we'll get that figured out. Yeah. >> Awesome. >> So, Education Foundation is going to pay for all supplies. >> Okay. Um, Beth, can you please call the role? >> Yeah. Mrs. Gart, >> hi. >> Mr. Guusay, >> hi. >> Mrs. Matney, >> hi. >>

Mr. Olinger, >> hi. >> And Miss Wasmouth. >> Hi. >> John goes to one meeting. >> John, see making it making it happen. >> Tell you Field. Can we get that? >> If If only you were on a board that could approve it. >> Under co-curricular activities and extracurricular activities. Uh 13A. All we have to approve are volunteers. A1. Is there a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any comments on these volunteers? >> I don't know. >> No. >> All right. Beth, can you call the role, please? >> Mrs. Gart, hi. >> Mr. Gusay. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Matney. >> Hi. >> Mr. Olinger. >> Hi. >> And Miss Wasmouth. >> Hi. >> Is there any other business to bring before the board by any member? >> You want to go into

executive session for fun? So I I'll just mention uh we've been Beth and team have been and Angie uh I wasn't part of it but we're working on the 2829 school calendar. >> Oh >> and so uh Kevin >> Mhm. >> is all of you are going to preview it in advance of it coming to the board. But you seem uniquely gifted at your analysis of that. So we'll make sure to get it to you. >> I took a look at it. >> I don't think he had any changes last year. If you're >> Well, we've already seen it, right? Wasn't it like Okay. Have you you've looked at it? >> I haven't looked at it too close. >> I did look at it and I want a hybrid of the two, but I'm you

know, whatever. >> Anyway, I that's coming attraction just as an FYI. >> Oh, I did see it. >> It's out for staff vote right now. >> That's the email I saw cuz we get I get like the all staff emails and so I saw she sent it out and >> so I looked at it. >> Now I'm pulling it up. >> So the deadline's Friday. Um and the one that will bring one of them uh depending on the vote to the board for approval next um or for consideration next month. >> Yeah. >> When was it sent out? >> Um within the past week maybe. >> Yeah. >> I want to look at one of them has >> I think it Monday >> or winter break starting on like a Wednesday and one of them

it's like >> Yeah, it's staggered. It's stretched over three weeks. >> But we can't Oh, I got to get in emotional head space. One of them starts one day earlier than the other one. >> 29 is going to be the year I cry. Cry every day. Every every damn day. >> Sorry by the way in advance. I every day. >> No. The one thing the only comment that you hear over and over from community members without a doubt every single year. We start too early. >> We start too early. No, we don't. I start >> and uh it's just this way every year. I don't I mean >> and that and those two calendars differ by one day. >> So it's not >> Can you resend it? >> So part of Oh, I got it.

Never mind. I got it. Part of the challenge with that and why we start so early is because we try to keep the first semester and second semester in terms of number of student instructional days as close to equal as possible. >> Um and if you want that break to be at winter break, that semester break, >> then you have to that's what pushes our start date to to where it's at. >> As a teacher, that's huge. >> And and that is like common for central Ohio. Like you know, we are not alone. All central Ohio districts do that. If you go outside of central Ohio, >> that is much less common. >> No question. >> Um, you know, like my nieces and nephews are all like a solid, you know, two weeks after we

start and so they are >> appalled at our starting date. >> Now, I mean, they're getting out later obviously a little bit. Yeah, >> it's a shift. >> Yeah, it's quite I let the teachers vote. >> Um, okay. Trying to find the calendar, but no, >> we'll find it for you. >> March 9th. It was sent by Rachel. >> It was sent on March 9th from Rachel. >> The boomer here with the technology. >> Self self-described. >> Did you vote, Emily? >> I have not voted yet. >> I have to put >> You have till Friday. >> I have to put them next to each other. And in the past couple weeks, I've been a little bit busy. >> Anything exciting going on? any humble bridge. >> I do costumes for the musical. >> I

was like, "Come on." >> And she can sew, >> which were fantastic. >> Now alterations for the choir costumes. >> Oh, >> that's what got dropped off today. >> Really? >> Lady of Many Talents. Very cool. >> Wait, did you say that you show? >> No, I didn't. >> I did. >> In fact, Andy was the one who said that. I did not say that. >> I wish I could. >> Man, I was If I wasn't elbow deep in a password, I'd have been like I wish I could do that. >> I have some I have some belt loops. Should we adjourn before I really like get >> We should go ahead and do that. We're not going to have executive session tonight. >> I was just joking. >> So, could we have a motion

for adjournment? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Okay. Anyone want to dispute that? Um Beth, please call the RO. >> Mrs. Hart, >> I. >> Mr. Guay. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Matney. Hi. >> Mr. Olinger. >> Hi. >> And Miss With. >> I forgot my password. Yeah. I >> All right. Was Jesse's
