Uh, let's do a pledge of >> allegiance. Stand up here to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Uh first on the agenda is the minutes. Is there a motion to approve the minutes? So move. >> Second. >> Okay. 002you please call the role? Yes. Eric Bod. >> Hi, Emily Ghart. >> Hi, >> Kevin Gusay. Hi, >> Katie Matney. >> Hi, >> Molly Wasmouth. >> Hi. >> Okay, recognitions. Would you like to take it from me? >> Yes. So, we're going to kick it off with a video tribute to Mr. Bodie. So, without further ado, Mr. Dice, take it away. >> Hi, Mr. Bod. I want to wish you well on this your last meeting as a Gran View Heights uh board of education member. It's um it's been my honor and privilege to sit beside you not just figuratively, literally for the past eight years. Um you and I came into this district and while it was a tall order, I think that you will have left this district with it in a better spot

003than how you found it. I will miss Mr. on time, on quality, on budget, himself, sitting beside me in finance meetings, in facility meetings and workshops and all the bazillion meetings you and I have sat beside each other in. Um, I wish you well in retirement. I wish you well with the grandbabies and everything, all the travels and the nice easy life that is looking forward for you and Andy to come join it. I do say 100% you have served this district well and it has been my honor to work with you. Hi Eric, congratulations on your retirement and thank you so much for your years of service and dedication to Grand View Heights Schools. I personally have learned so much from working with you and you truly have made us all better. So thank

004you, congratulations and best wishes on a happy, healthy and restful retirement. Hi, Eric. Congratulations on your eight years of service to the Grand View Heights schools in the Grand View and Marble Cliff communities. We may not have Paris, but we'll always have the Grand View Yard School comp renegotiation. Enjoy your newfound free time and all the best to Annie and the kids. Again, congrats, Eric. >> Hey, Ned. Great job on the school board. You have done a wonderful job. Congratulations on your retirement. I love you. Hey, Dad. It's me and Deli. Just wanted to say we're proud of you for all the things you've done at the school board and we wish you the best of luck moving forward. Eric, I've always appreciated your calm but calculated approach to being a board member. Um, we're

005going to miss you terribly. However, I know that you're going to find yourself a really nice plot of turf to enjoy your retirement. Here's to you. Cheers, >> Eric. With all the extra time you're going to have on your hands, please don't get in any trouble. We old folks, we we worry about you. >> Hi, Eric. Uh, we wanted to thank you for all your support over the years. Um, behind the scenes, we know you do a lot that that allow us to support kids and families. >> Your financial expertise over the years has been invaluable. We wish you all the best and have lots of fun in retirement. >> Bodie, thanks for your service on the school board. Enjoy these uh photos of some of your favorite places. Eric, it has been such a

006pleasure serving with you for the past four years. You have brought such thoughtfulness and intentionality to what we've worked on together and I really appreciated learning that from you. I wish you all the best in the next chapter. I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood. Congrats, Eric. I'm so grateful I had the chance to serve alongside you on school board. Your facilities, expertise, and experience were invaluable during such a critical time in our school's history. You may have a quiet personality, but you always reminded me of that old EF Hutton commercial, when Eric Bod talks, people listen. Thanks for your decade of service, and I wish you all the best in the future. >> Eric, I'd like to thank you for your service and recognize the key role you've played in the yard

007negotiations, the building construction, and also maintaining the high standards of our school district. I really enjoyed working with you and wish you all the best. You were a pleasure and you were a gift to this community. Take care of yourself. >> Eric, congratulations on eight years of service. As someone who had a front row seat to many schoolboard meetings, I've always been impressed with how professional and prepared you are. Thank you for being the man in the arena. Grand View is better because of you. Hey, Eric, we want to thank you so much for all you've given to this district. Um, you are a legend on the finance committee and your intelligence, your analytical mind, it can't be beat. I've so much appreciated working with you both here and at the Department of Education and

008I will really miss having you as a partner on this board, but I will always consider you a friend. Take care. >> Hi, Eric. Congratulations on finishing eight years of service on the school board. I just want to take a moment to thank you not only for everything you've done for the district and all the kids of the district, but thanks for putting up with me during our four years together on the board and thanks for being such a good friend. >> Hi hun, we just want to say how proud we are as a family for all the work that you did on the school board, the many hours that you put in preparing and really just everything that you've done for the community. But I also want everyone to know that you had a

009lot of fun doing it and really enjoyed the people that you did it with. >> Hello, Eric Bod. I just wanted to let you know that suffice it to say this is my third take. And the reason that it's my third take is because the previous two videos each have been about four minutes long. The reason being is there's so much to say about the wonderfully amazing things that you've accomplished as a board member. I'll just say this, one of the things I always ask myself is, is the organization better as a result or but for Eric Bod? And the answer is a definitive yes. So, thank you on behalf of the students, the staff, and the community for your service above self. As a board member of Grand View High Schools, I'll miss you.

010Thanks, Eric. Good evening. I'm going to be the first to speak and I have a resolution to honor Mr. Bod in his eight years of service. So indulge me as I read it aloud. Resolution honoring Eric Bod. Whereas Eric Bod has served the communities of Grand View Heights and Marble Cliff for eight years as a faithful member of the Grand View Heights Board of Education since taking his oath of office on January 10th, 2018. And whereas Eric has been a practical and loyal friend of education and has given unselfishly of his time and service to the board of education, the administration, staff and students of the Grand View Heights School District. And whereas he has demonstrated his leadership ability in serving as the president and vice president of the Grand View Heights Board of Education.

011And whereas he has also served on the board's facility core team and finance committee during tenure. And whereas he has served as a passionate and knowledgeable advocate for improving the facilities of the district from serving on the original facility task force to serving as the board of education facilities core team member through the design and construction of the new Larsson Middle School and renovation of Grand View Heights High School to continuing his service as the facilities core team member through the planning and design of the new Stevenson Elementary and athletic complex whose leadership in all ways case was valued and inseparable from our success. And whereas Eric has worked diligently for the passage of tax issues essential to the operations of this school district by supporting the passage of the district's combined 7.51 mil bond

012plus a 1 mil operating levy in November 2018 and the 6.95 95 mil bond levy in November 2024. as well as supporting the 2019 negotiations of the Grand View Heights School compensation agreement for the Grand View yard that resulted in significantly reducing our residents tax rate. And whereas he has demonstrated a commitment to the community and to student growth by helping develop and implement the district continuous improvement plans. And whereas Eric has served in a fair and judicious manner supporting the settlement agreements with Grand View Heights Education Association in the Grand View Heights Educational Support Staff Associations in years 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2025. Always balancing attention to fair salaries and working conditions of staff with economic considerations for the community. And whereas Eric always used sound and objective reasoning on the many critical issues

013brought before the board of education. Remember co now. Therefore, be it resolved by the board of education of the Grand View Heights City School District that recognition of the value of this leadership and service is extended to Eric Bod. And be it further resolved that this resolution be made part of the permanent records of the board of education and that a suitable copy thereof be presented to Mr. Eric Bod. On behalf of the board of education, our community, our students, our entire staff, Eric, I know I speak for all of them. Uh we are humbled by having the opportunity to work with you. Uh you know, I I said it in the video. I think one of the biggest compliments you can give a leader such as yourself is the organization better for your service

014and that is a definitive and resolute yes. So thank you for your outstanding service above self Mr. Bod. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. So, uh, Eric, you could at this time say a few words if you'd like, or we could have others who here who may want to also say a few words perhaps. >> I'd be happy to. Okay, >> um, well, thank you. Um, that was a lot more than I expected. Um, just to say I, you know, I' I've really enjoyed this eight years of service. Um, out of, you know, big time. I felt, you know, I really got into it initially because of the um uh thinking about the first school building >> and the middle school and the high school. I thought I had some expertise to lend there and so

015it got involved and um and then COVID was kind of an unexpected thing that took a lot of time, but then um then the second building project. So, it's been a very eventful eight years as we've gone through. um you know I've so I also have retired um from my day job um this year and so this is sort of my second phase of retirement um and uh you know thinking about all the jobs that I've had over over my career um and different work situations and things you know places that I really loved and places that I kind of regretted making that choice of like was that the right thing to do but I think you know the the two constants um to me is one do something that you believe in like that

016it's really important and I certainly have felt that um you know educating the next generation of of people in Grand View um who are to come and hopefully will be future uh um uh school uh school children um including my two grandsons here um that there's nothing more important um so I do believe in that. And then the second piece is um having people that you really work love working with. Um and you know I've been again in different situations where you kind of you know either get along or don't get along or what's going on with you know the the whole team but um uh this group has been amazing. I mean, uh, it's been as a board I've been really just felt like honored to be part of the board here and we

017don't always agree. Um, but we've always um respected each other and I know you all have listened to my please. Sometimes I've um had an an idea and it's been accepted and sometimes I've had an idea and it's been rejected, which is fine. Uh I think you know it's wise heads that come together but I just I've really have felt um both with current board members and past board members just an amazing group and uh and then of course with the the administration as well starting with Beth and Andy who have been just consumate professionals and we're really lucky to have the team that we have. So, um uh I I I don't regret anything about the last eight years and have enjoyed it thoroughly and uh thank you for um for putting up with

018me. as a small additional token. So, two two quick things. One, we we do have a uh very nice copy of the resolution I read. Um, I've signed it. Unfortunately, because of Beth's illness, she hasn't signed it. So, be patient. We will get it to you. Um, but it will have a nice resolution that I read for you to keep. And then secondly, as you know, we often give windchimes and I thought that this might be a nice token. I know it's, you know, it's a small gesture, but I know it will be something every time you hear it, you'll hopefully think of all of your wonderful service to Grand View Heights and the people that you've worked with. So, I was hoping for one. >> Do you want all of us? >> Looking forward

019to my wind charms. >> I know. >> Do I look taller than >> No, sorry. You want to do on your tip. >> And um would you like one with >> family? >> Can I get one with Batman? >> Yes. Oh, that'd be awesome. >> It's easier maybe if you go to them. >> They're all back there and then we'll get a family. Yes, he really did. He really did. >> But you started talking to that video and then you >> you guys all did a really nice job. >> I adhered to the 20 thing incredibly hard. >> I couldn't get >> Well, Chris is the one that bossed me down. >> I know. I seriously >> I could have did it under a minute. No, the first time I did it, it was >>

020so I was going on and on about this and about that and then he's like Andy >> I said it I sent it to Kayie and I'm like I'm over I'm like I'm over a minute and she's like Andy came screaming in too. I'm like we're good like I couldn't see >> I did I like had like just little dot points like >> and when I did it the first time it was definitely over a minute I guess cut off. >> He he literally like I did two I did one. Hi, Jess. >> I wish you knew to see Eric and she's not even >> I know she's sick. >> And you you know she's sick because >> she's she has a fever and she's like sick. Sick. Yeah. >> I mean she never misses.

021She's like the She's like hardcore. >> Yeah. >> You know so for her not to be here, you know she's sick. Good by the way. >> The team got a senior this year, right? >> Yeah. >> Experience. Sometimes you Wayne and I'm gonna miss this kid so much. >> It's so true. It's so true. >> It's so true. >> You gonna come to Are you gonna be able to come to Barrel in town? do some nice. >> It's because my >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's a rock star business. >> That's what I hear. >> I hear. >> Come on, mister. on time and on budget. >> I just want to say for for the record, Eric, we were directed to only do a 20 second video. I didn't I am such a rule follower. I

022did that and it was I mean I had to do like eight takes and cut out so much stuff, but like there's so much more I could have said about like the immense amount of respect I have for you and you know like having gotten to work with you >> prior to this like I would feel so I don't want to cry but I just feel so fortunate to have had twice over. >> Thank you. >> I'm really going to miss you on the >> Thank you. That's why I can't talk in public. >> I struggle with that, too. In case you guys didn't know, >> in case you were worried, Andy and I were over. >> You are. >> You're not a rule follower. >> Everybody knows who I am. >> All right. Regain

023my composure. >> Goodbye. Is this You don't have to stay. >> Oh, yeah. Sure. Anyone doesn't want to stay, they don't have to. But >> um Okay. Is there anyone this recognition of guests and hearing of the public? Does anyone want to speak before the board this evening? No. Okay. Okay. Um, is there any discussion for the building and department reports that we had? >> No. Superintendent's report. >> So, I am going to um just uh announce the last thing on here. Enjoy Sounds of the Season. The holiday coral concert featuring the Grand View Heights singers and concert choir will be performing Thursday, December 11th and all these dates that are listed on this superintendent report. And uh while I haven't had a chance to see them, Angie saw them this morning and literally grabbed

024my arm and was like, Andy, they were unbelievable. So if you get a chance to catch them, I encourage you to do that. And then the last thing I wanted to mention is save the date. Uh the Grand Viewites Marble Cliff Education Foundation signature event, the grand event will be Saturday, February 21st, 2027 2026 at 7 p.m. at the Little Grand Market in Grand View Heights. >> Oh, good. That's nice. It's a great going back to the winter. >> Going back to the winner. >> See you in February, Bobby. >> Okay. Um any questions, discussion? Okay. Uh moving on to construction the core team committee report. Um I mean there have been meetings at this point we're getting down to you know detailed kind of stuff. Those meetings are it's I mean there was literally

02520 minutes talking about trash can placement um yesterday. So there's not a whole lot to report except that things are coming along well. Um and it's you know on budget and it's on time. Sure it'll be on quality. Um but yeah, so that it's down to, you know, outlets and trash cans and that kind of stuff. So it's exciting. You know, the modulars will be happen probably see things happening with that before long. Uh anything to add to that? Okay. Um under construction 8B, recommendations for approval, we have items one and two. Um, is there a motion to approve this? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Okay. Any discussion, questions? >> I just wanted to say the uh number one, right of entry agreement. I appreciate the Grand View Heights city's uh collaborative uh efforts

026in allowing us to have access to the south facing park. Um that is hugely helpful. And so just appreciate the continued partnership with Graham View City and them allowing um us to use that to um really bring in the modulars to set up. And so that's a huge win. So thank you. >> Okay. Um if there's no discussion, uh Mr. C, can you please call >> Eric Bod? >> Hi. >> Emily Gart. >> Hi. >> Kevin Gusay. >> Hi. >> Katie Matney. >> Hi. >> Molly Was Smith. >> Hi. >> All right. stated earlier, uh Beth is not here, unfortunately, so there is no treasures presentation. Um I'm sure she will catch us all up to speed in January. >> She's thorough. >> Um and I'm sure for what it's worth, she'll probably reach out

027to you, Eric. I'm sure that she is really devastated to be missing. She did. I mean, you are like a treasured member of the finance committee. So, >> you've been all eight years on the finance committee. >> I have. I've been on the I don't think I ever really varied from finance committee and 14. and honestly like an incredibly valuable member of that committee. So I know I know Beth is sad, you know, to have you leaving and sad >> be careful. >> Um okay and finance committee you said there was no finance meeting. So is there >> was a little holiday >> a little it was it was Thanksgiving. Um okay so under business and finance recommendations for approval we have items one through uh 11. Um, is there a motion to approve? >>

028So moved. >> Second. Any questions, discussion? Okay. Hearing none. Can you call the role? >> Eric Bod. >> Hi. >> Emily Gart. >> Hi. >> Kevin Gusay. >> Hi. >> Katie Matney. >> Hi. >> Molly Wasman. >> Hi. >> Okay. Uh, moving on to personnel. Under personnel 10 A1 through six. Is there a motion to approve? I'll second. Uh, any questions? >> Okay. Hearing none, can you call the role, please? >> Eric Bod. >> Hi. >> Emily Gart. >> Hi. >> Kevin Gusay. >> Hi. >> Katie Matney. >> Hi. >> Molly Wasmouth. >> Hi. >> Is there a policy committee report? >> No, we didn't meet. >> Okay. It's holiday months. Okay. So, there are a couple there are four items under first reading. Um, does anyone any discussion around the first reading items? Do

029you have anything to say, Kevin? >> No, there was some back and forth with um the lawyer, but I think everybody was tied in on that. >> Okay. And we do have items to approve, though. Um, so under 11 C1, is there a motion? So, move a second. Second. Katie's got it. >> Um, any discussion on those items? Okay, hearing none. Can you call the role, please? >> Eric Bod. Hi. >> Emily Gart. Hi. >> Kevin Gusay. Hi. >> Katie Matney. >> Hi. >> Molly Wasmith. >> Hi. >> Was there a teaching and learning committee? >> No, we didn't. >> Okay. Nobody met. No one did. >> As apparently it's November of the year Thanksgiving. >> It's fine. It's a 2026 problem. >> Yeah. >> Okay. that we do have items to approve under co-curricular

030activities and extracurricular activities 13 A1 through three. Is there a motion? >> So move. >> Second. Okay. Any discussion there? Hearing none. Could you please call the role? >> Eric Bod. >> Hi. >> Emily Gart. >> Hi. >> Kevin Gusay. >> Hi. >> Katie Matney. >> Hi. >> Molly Wasmouth. >> Hi. >> Okay. Now we do have some other items. We need um to set a president proemper for the um organizational meeting in January that precedes our first official meeting. So is there a motion for a nomination for president prom? >> I move to nominate Emily Gupper. >> Thank you. Is there a second? >> It's a weird voice. Leave me alone. Second. >> Thank you. Um okay. Can you call the role or actually I should say if anyone want to discuss you can

031>> now we're gonna get Eric out. >> Eric Bod. Hi Emily Gart. >> Hi >> Kevin Gusay. >> Hi >> Katie Matney. >> Hi >> Molly Wasman. >> Yeah. Okay. So for the organizational meeting in January um I know we have to hold that before a certain date. I assume we would follow our >> Yeah. I think it's the 14th. >> Yeah, that's what I thought it was. >> 15. Is it 15th? >> We have to have it by the 15th, but our normal meeting date would be the 14th. Yeah, the 14th is the Wednesday before that requirement. Is that okay or do we It's just literally one day before. >> Well, I I think my I looked at the calendar now. It's been like a week, but I think the Wednesday is like the

03230th or 31st. So, it's the It's like the second Wednesday and I believe it's the 14th. >> That's what we just told you. >> Oh, is that what you just said? I'm sorry. I was dialed. I was somewhere else. >> You have to take the minutes and be superintendent. I know. >> Okay. So, I mean, I guess I think the 14th is the call. I I assume we'll stay with Wednesdays because that's what we're used to. So we'll keep it the 14th at um >> 6:45. >> Well, the tax budget hearing come does that precede the organizational meeting? Yes. So we would do the tax budget hearing at 6:45 and the organizational meeting at seven. Correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. So um >> Did you get all that, Mr. Olier? >> You better

033be here. >> We'll send invites. Um now so we did one separately voted so I think we do that again too just se just we'll just vote on each three of these completely separately so is there a motion to approve that setting of the organizational meeting >> so moved >> second >> thank you um ro >> Eric Bodi >> Emily Gharti >> Kevin Gusay hi >> Katie Matney >> hi >> Molly Wasmith >> I Okay so the final item here is the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding um this resolution ution before we have any discussion. Is there a motion for that item? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Okay. Um do you want to discuss Eric? Would you like to talk about it at all? >> Yeah. Just um thanks everyone

034for listening to me about this. Um I think um it was uh prompted by uh some information at the capital conference about the um the state of uh really what's going on with vouchers. Um and uh I was not aware that what our status was as as a school district. Were we a member of that? Were we supportive or not? And so um thank you all for the discussions, the individual conversations around that. And I think um I bring this forward to a vote as um recognition. I think as something that um does not maybe directly affect us so much um uh financially in a in a direct way and yet um you know we are all about education and you know it's not only for Grand View kids but um everyone in Ohio and

035um I feel personally that uh you know there are some things that um could be better with the state of education in Ohio and some of the decisions that have been made. Um, and I would like to have our district on record of being on the right side of what I think um, kind of a direction that we're heading. So, um, uh, you know, a lot of it has to do with uh, vouchers, which has grown to a billion dollars a year of support by the general assembly, which is dollars that are not going to public education um, to traditional public schools. um and there's the lawsuit against that. So anyway, I um would um support this resolution. It's fairly small dollar-wise. It's something like $2,300 a year um which uh is not that much.

036Um but I think as much as the dollars uh to support the organization, um there's also just uh again being one of the districts that is now in the majority. I mean, my understanding is 380 of the 600 some school districts now have are in support of the the coalition and the voucher fight and um and I think if we vote on this um affirmatively then we would be on that side. >> It very well said. Yeah, I appreciate I agree. It's making a stand to say this is what we believe in and you know I think it now's the time for people to speak their mind on these kind of things. I I was working at well you were there too at OBM whenever the Cleveland scholarship it was called Cleveland scholarship program was

037the very first voucher program in Ohio and it was so incredibly limited. It was limited to Cleveland, I mean to the Cleveland district and it was limited by um income and then and then we started ed choice and unfortunately I'll say I had a hand in that and it wasn't my choice. I was working for the governor so what can you do? But but ed choice and even ed choice was initially so limited. You had to be in a failing school district. you had to have income eligibility on the families and to watch how uh over what feels like a short bit of time. It has just snowballed into what it is now here a billion dollars is crazy >> and nothing to say that it won't continue. Yeah. >> I mean the guard rails

038such as they exist now could continue to change as well. So, um, yeah, I think in my mind time to plant a flag and say, you know, you're in support of, um, uh, I mean, really the the overall effort is to, uh, have a the court fight to show the, uh, um, that vouchers voucher program in Ohio is unconstitutional. And, um, actually, I meant to reforward it to everybody, but the Mike Curtain >> who's, you know, a fantastic an amazing resident that we have who's so supportive of our school and the levies that we've had and just a great thinker. Uh and he did an excellent article um that was published uh on some of the history behind that and why um you know based on history vouchers should be declared unconstitutional. Um and I

039had actually reached out to him just to let him know that you know we're considering this vote tonight. >> I don't know where I'm at on this one. >> Yeah, I'm excited. Any any other commentary? Okay. Well, then if you could call the vote, please. >> Eric Bod. >> Hi. >> Emily Gart. >> Hi. >> Kevin Gusay. >> Hi. >> Katie Matney. >> Hi. >> Molly Wasmith. >> Hi. >> Great. Uh, any other business to bring before the board tonight? >> No more. >> No executive session. >> Move on. No executive session tonight. >> I think every board meeting should be half of that dedicated. >> One one thing. Can we set the date for the businesses or our organizational not our organization our um board retreat >> retreat? >> I feel like we did

040that in January before like at the when once John is officially at the table. >> I think we've done it before at this meeting but that's when nobody knew when was coming on. It makes more sense. >> Yeah, we have done it before but it's also been us for the last six years. >> Yeah, I think it makes sense. >> Welcome new friend. >> Yeah, that's where we do it. >> It's in a way it's a retreat. Well, we've done it in Miami. We've done it. You want to go to Vegas? >> I'm joking. I'm joking. We do it in a conference room in here. >> Yeah. >> Think work session. >> If you're lucky, you might get a free bagel. >> You might You might get some coffee. >> Get some coffee >> and

041some ice breakers. >> Oh gosh. Oh dear. >> Andy likes a norm. Andy likes an icebreaker. >> I'm not wrong. Why don't you Why don't you come for funsies? >> Yeah, >> it is open to the public. >> It is open. Come >> to the public before >> we we'll even have you at the table. Um Okay. Well, there's no more official business. Get a motion to adjurnn. Wow. >> So moved. Second. >> Okay. >> Eric Bod. Hi. Emily Gibart. Hi. >> Kevin Gus. Hi. Katie Matney. Hi. Molly Wasmith. Okay. >> Took my glasses.
