Thank you. Thank you for being here with us tonight. Um, I move to approve the agenda. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Roll call or discussion? Any discussion on the agenda? >> Roll call. >> Craft. >> Yes. >> Fenukin, >> yes. >> Brown, >> yes. >> Lamb, >> yes. >> You're not? >> Yes. >> Motion carries. >> At this organizational meeting, uh we are calling for election of officers and a nomination u of officers. Uh first beginning with our board president. At this time, is there a nominee for president? >> I nominate uh Liz Pier not please. >> I hear Liz Pernot. Any
003other nominations for board president? Hearing none. Is there a motion to approve Liz Pierat as the board president? Great. >> We don't need a motion formally as we go through this. Okay. Just on these couple here. So, we have a nomination. So, if there's no other nominations, >> I can call roll on the first. >> Excellent. Thank you. Thanks. >> Is that okay? >> Yes. >> Um, and this is to elect Liz Pernot as the president of the board of education for calendar year 2026. Brown. >> Yes. >> Fenukin, >> yes. >> Craft, yes. >> Lamb, I piran. >> Yes. We will do a swearing in now for the new president. >> Where would we like to stand by the flag? >> Okay. >> Right. If you raise your right hand again and repeat after
004me. >> Okay. I, for Liz Proud, >> I, Liz Prun, >> do solemnly swear >> solemnly swear >> that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America >> that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America. >> The Constitution of the State of Ohio, >> constitution of the state of Ohio, >> and that I will faithfully and my duties >> that I will faithfully and intentionally start my duties >> as president of the school board >> in and for the said West City School District. in and forth, said West Lake City School District. >> West Lake, Ohio. >> Westlake, Ohio, >> to the best of my ability. >> Best of my ability >> and in accordance with the laws. >> In accordance with the laws >> now in effect
005and hereafter to be enacted >> now in effect and hereafter to be enacted. >> During my continuence and said office >> during my continuence and set office >> and until my successor is elected and qualified. >> until my successor is elected and qualified. >> Congratulations, Madam President. Congratulations, Madam President. >> Okay, moving on. Uh, we call for nominations for board vice president and I would like to nominate Brad Lance. >> And I would like to second that nomination for Brad L. >> I like the third. Are there Brad Lamp? When you are ready, Mr. Hopkins, both are ready for a vote. >> All right. So, this would be calling uh the role on the election of Brad Lamb as the board vice president for calendar year 2026. Brown, >> yes. >> Bonukin, >> yes. >>
006Rev, >> yes. >> Lamb, >> yes. >> Pier, >> yes. >> Mr. Lamb, you are elected vice president. We can do the swearing in. Right. Raise your right hand. Repeat after me. I, Brad, I, Brad Lamb, do solemnly swear do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America. that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, the Constitution of the State of Ohio, >> the constitution of the state of Ohio, >> and I will faithfully and impartially discharge my duties. >> I will faithfully and impartially discharge my duties as vice president of the school board >> as vice president of the school board in and for the Senate Westlake City School District in and for the said West Lake City School District. >> Westlake, Ohio, >>
007to the best of my ability. to the best of my ability. >> And in accordance with the laws. >> Now in effect, and hereafter to be enacted. >> Now in effect, and hereafter to be enacted. >> During my continuence in set office. >> And until my successor is elected and qualified. And until my successor is elected and qualified. All right. Fantastic. Now moving on to uh 2E which is going to be uh res the resolution for our treasurer to file form 904. Has everybody gotten a chance to verify their address and term expiration date? This is just filed with the uh uh county board of elections council. I just want to make sure they have the correct information. >> My address is actually incorrect. >> Your address is incorrect. >> It should be court, not
008boulevard. I missed that the first time around. I apologize. >> Hillyard Court. >> Yeah. >> Should be 30400 Hillyard Court. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> We will amend that. >> All right. >> And correct that when we send that in as well. >> Thank you. Is there a motion to approve as amended? >> So move. >> Second. >> Any other discussion? >> Roll call. >> Yes. >> Rome. >> Yes. >> Lamb. Yes. >> Da. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. >> Is there a motion to approve 3A the adoption of the calendar before 2026? >> So moved. Second. discussion. As noted, uh this is always something we can move dates as needed. We have only one meeting in November because of OSBA. Do we have the dates for OSBA yet? >> No. Uh typically speaking, it's always
009been that week after the uh uh general election. This year it was a week later. Um I'm not aware of it being posted yet for next year. >> Okay. >> November 15th to the 17th. >> 15th. Thank you. >> It's a still Okay. So it's not the right week after the election, it's two weeks after the election. Thank you. >> Thank you. Um and then one meeting in December and as always if we need to call an additional meeting we can cancel a meeting we can. So but it's good for marking of our calendars. Any other discussion about this? >> The only other question I had was the June meeting but it was answered by Mr. Hopkins. >> Yeah. End of the fiscal year. >> Correct. So, >> so because the uh agenda was uh
010or I'm sorry, the calendar was proposed, it was only available for the board here to see. >> Okay. >> So, just publicly as we talk about it, uh it is sticking with the second and fourth Monday of each of the months. Uh the exception of that uh is uh May because of Memorial Day being the fourth Monday. So, it's proposed on here to be May 18th instead uh the week before. So, it' be the third month Monday. And then uh June 30th as we uh discussed there is because the end of our fiscal year we do ask the board to meet on June 30th. Uh I did set it as a 9:00 a.m. Of course the board can change that either now or before that June meeting. Uh [clears throat] but that's what we have
011on there and then as uh Madame President discussed in November and December. >> Any other discussion? >> Roll call. Pretan, >> yes. >> Lamb, yes. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. >> Your motion to approve 3B, the establishment of the board's service fund. So move. >> Second. >> Any questions or discussion about the service fund? >> I'll just speak up uh briefly. I did increase this from last year. Uh as uh this does cover uh capital conference expenses for the board, uh travel expenses, uh hotel, things like that. Uh we also with a new board member on uh there's opportunities for professional development if you so choose to take advantage of that. Uh so I did increase it just slightly uh from last year. >> What was last year? >> I think I had 4,000 last
012year 6,000. >> Again, we're allowed to do up to $20,000. as well under uh uh the uh >> I might be in Louisville in Kentucky right before the national board and I know that organization has changed. They're doing their meeting in Kentucky in Louisville itself and if I can squeeze in a day I might pop in over there. Would that be covered by that? >> It would. Yes. >> National school board. >> Yes. >> Does OPA still affiliated with that though? It's not National School Board. It's COSSA. I think now they've changed the name. Okay. Of it mostly it's since I'm down there already for a work event. Sure. Like the F I'm speaking at a different conference that has nothing to do with the school work association. >> Yeah. If that's something you're interested
013in, we can uh uh get you registered and have you attend that. >> Mostly it's because it's Louisville to Lexington. Sure. Since I'm down there. So, okay. >> Any other discussion? Roll call. >> Venukan, >> yes. >> Craft, yes. Veron, >> yes. Lamb, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Okay. Resolution to appoint board members for OSBA delegate, legislative liaison, and student achievement liaison. Okay. So, OSBA delegate. Anybody want to step forward for that one, >> Alex? >> That one this year. >> All right. Uh for an alternate I'll be the alternate. >> Okay. >> Thanks for >> Thank you, Brad. >> To see >> um All right. For the legislative liaison, I have done this role for a couple years. I think you and I tag teamed it. Um is there any interest from anybody?
014>> I don't know at least one of them if there's more than one, but >> Okay. >> Be interested. >> Great. Um I will also be happy to work with you on that if you want. Sound move. Okay. >> So, I'd have Alex as the legislative liaison and then Liz as a alternate. >> Yeah. And then student achievement liaison. Anyone interested in this role? Mr. Craft, I know you've done this in the past. Would you like to speak a little bit more about what it is? >> Absolutely. um as um uh as liaison, I know that we get tuned into other boards from around the state and hear about student achievement from uh other districts. Sometimes we report on our own district. Um that allows for the opportunity to engage in conversation, say with Dr.
015Gagan about some of these strategies if we're not using them already. Um, but also an opportunity as well to tune into what our Westlake City School students doing, what are our teachers doing, and making certain that the board is aware of those achievements as well. >> Anyone interested in that role, >> I'll do it. >> Yep. >> Okay. So, that would be a delegate for OSBA, Alex, and the alternate is Brad. Uh for legislative liaison the would be Alex with myself as the alternate and for student achievement it would be Brad. Any other discussion? >> We have a I need a motion on those. >> Is there a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> First from Brad, second from John. Any other discussion? >> Roll call. >> Lamb. Yes. Len. >> Yes. Ron, >>
016yes. >> Craft, >> yes. Gordon, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Uh, for 3D, resolution to appoint board member as a Westlake business advisory liaison. >> I'll do that. >> John, is there a motion to approve John? So move. >> Joe for the first and Alex for the second. >> Any discussion? All >> yes. Rome, >> yes. Manukans, >> yes. >> Lamb, yes. Turn, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> 3E, resolution to appoint a board member to uh the district safety council liaison. And I think we had two on it last year. >> Yeah. Barbara and I. >> Yeah. I um I I nominate myself. >> Okay. Anyone else interested? Joe. >> Okay. And uh motion for Joe and Brad for the safety council. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any other discussion? Roll call.
017>> Penuki. >> Yes. >> Graf. Yes. Brown. Yes. Lamb. Yes. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. 3F for the appointment of the Westshore Career Tech District liaison. >> I nominate myself. >> Is there a motion for Joe to be the leazison for the West Crew Tech? >> Second. >> Any other discussion? Welcome. >> Ron, yes. Manukan, >> yes. Craft, yes. Lamb, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> 3G. A resolution to appoint the board member to the tax incentive review council. Is there anyone interested in this? >> I'll nominate myself. >> Okay. I know you've done it for a couple of years, John. >> Anyone else? Is there a motion for John to be the uh >> So, second. Any other discussion? Roll call. >> Ref. >> Yes. >> Lamb. >> Yes. >> Brown. >> Yes. >>
018You're not. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. >> Then 3G is resolution to designate official newspapers for the publications uh the plane plane dealer Cleveland.com and the Westlife. Is there a resol uh is there a motion to for these? >> So moved. Second. Any discussion? >> Roll call. >> Craft. >> Yes. >> Manukan, >> yes. >> Brown, >> yes. >> Lamb, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Before we move into four uh section four, just real quick reminder, we do have the uh different treasure and superintendent committees. the finance and scholarship committee under the treasurer and superintendent policy and curriculum committee. Um for scholarship, I was wondering if we could have uh John take the lead on that and have Alex help out >> for >> scholarship. >> Yeah, sure. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. >>
019And finance, I'm guessing John and Joe would like to continue serving on the finance committee. >> I would like to. >> Yeah, same. >> Okay. for policy committee. I have served on that with uh Barb in the past. I Mr. Lamb, are you interested in being on policy again? >> I am on this round and then same with curriculum. >> Sure. >> Okay. Awesome. Okay. Any other questions or discussion on that? >> Okay. All right. Moving on for a our organiza and under other organizational ma matters our resolution to authorize the CFO treasurer to secure advances from the auditor for funds lawfully due to the school district. I am going to let you discuss this >> of course. >> Hopkins. >> Um do you want to call for a motion second first? >> Sure. Uh
020is there a motion to approve this? So move >> second. Um, so this is allows the district to request advances of funds. So when you pay your taxes, um, what happens is, uh, people pay at different times. Some this time of year might have paid in December, January, February. Uh, some are maybe even be paying late, uh, um, as you get into, you know, February or March. We have, uh, the settlement will happen in March. So, we typically would not receive our money until March. This allows us to apply to the county and say, "Here, our board has requested that we receive advances of money they've already collected." So, while they collect it, instead of getting one lump sum payment later in in the uh uh uh first part of the year here, we'll get
021several advances and then the settlement. It allows us to get the money quicker. It puts it under our offers allowing us uh to help with cash flow but also to uh invest that money uh and hopefully gain some returns. >> Any other discussion? Roll call. >> Craft. Yes. Limukin, [clears throat] >> yes. >> Ga, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Uh resolution to authorize transfer of funds 4B. Is there a motion to approve? >> Second. >> This This allows us to uh allows me to transfer funds uh among our different funds. Our general fund is O1, but we have a number of other funds that we operate. I'm allowed to uh move funds within uh our uh books uh but uh brings it to the board of education at our next regular board meeting for
022approval. Of course, if the board would not choose not to approve it, it would then be reverted back. Any other discussion? Roll call. >> Ron, >> yes. >> Lamb, >> yes. Venukan, >> yes. >> Craft, >> yes. Pure, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Motion to approve forc resolution to approve standing authorizations. >> Anyone like to make a motion? >> So move. >> Second. >> It's a long list of items. Um and we can go through them if you want. These are our typical ones. Um under the structure in the state of Ohio for schools, school districts and board of educations, authority for most all things is given to uh the board of education. Okay. The board of education then delegates that authority to run the district uh on a day-to-day basis and typically you
023will uh delegate that authority to your superintendent treasur. So, there are items on here that um again, if you don't want me to pay bills, okay, and you would rather review every invoice and pay every uh uh and approve every bill at a board meeting, >> that's your right to do so. But typically, you would delegate that authority to do that. Um it allows the superintendent uh and myself to accept resignations or retirements as uh people leave. it gets it in writing and then we bring it to the um it doesn't need that board approval and it's accepted uh as soon as the superintendent or treasurer accepts it. Um it has a number of items on here allows us to uh sign some contracts uh pay uh for certain items or reimbursement for our transportation
024employees with a negotiated agreement. So, these are just delegating authority uh from the board to the superintendent and treasurer on a number of items and you'll see that through the next several resolutions that we go through. I'm happy to answer any specific questions uh on any of the items that you're uh delegating this authority. This is your authority and and we appreciate you uh delegating it to us so that we can operate the district. >> I have a question. It's just why this is something we're passing in January. Why wouldn't we want to pass it like for the like a put on a school year calendar and not a calendar calendar? You know what I mean? >> Because the board even though we operate on school years and our fiscal year is July 1st, June
02530th, uh the board is elected on a uh January 1st. >> Okay. >> Uh date so to align with your elections. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> Call. Yes. Venukan, >> yes. >> Brown, yes. Lamb, >> yes. >> Piran, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Or D, resolution to attend seminars and conferences. >> Is there a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Again, this is one um this is not necessarily binding in any way. This is just the board saying that we as a as a group, the board as a whole encourages the superintendent, treasurer and board members to attend uh uh local state conferences and seminars. Uh we want to make sure that our uh leadership here uh uh has the professional development that they need to uh
026do their jobs and for the board to lead us. Um, so even as you had your question before, Miss Kernat about attending that national uh one in Kentucky, this is again the board as a whole saying we want to encourage our board members, our superintendent and treasurer to attend these conferences. >> Any other discussion? Roll call. >> Lamb, >> yes. [snorts] >> Yes. >> Ron, yes. >> Craft, >> yes. >> Motion carries. Resolution to approve uh 4 E resolution to approve uh school attorneys. Is there a motion to approve this? >> So moved. Second. >> Any discussion? >> I'll briefly go over um Brena McNair Seed does our property cases for us. Squares Patent Bonds is our bond council. Uh Riley Law Firm is construction council. Weston Herd is our general counsel. Chess Sumpter um
027is the uh council for suburban health consortium. So if we have something that we would need to retain him for our health uh uh insurance program, I have him listed there. And then Publin Wagner, we have not used uh but the district has in the past uh and it would allow us to use them if need be, but we've not had the need for. And especially because we have a new board member, can you give us all an idea of just uh general general numbers as we reach out to these folks? For example, I I don't foresee us um requiring say squire, patent, and bogs because today we we don't have a bond issue that we may want to >> I respectfully disagree with you. >> Go for it. Go for uh Square Patent Bonds
028as bond council as part of our bonds that we issued and we still have in play for the next roughly 30 years or so. Uh we are required to uh annual file annual information uh filings and they help us with that >> and they handle that. They keep us in compliance with our bonds uh as we move forward each and every year. >> Thank you. So from a usage point of view um can you give us an idea of how much we use each of these? >> Weston Herd is our uh goto their general counsel for us. They would be your primary counsel. We've uh typically worked with Eric Johnson or now Peter, I'm gonna butcher his name. Zolski. >> Zawatsky. >> Zawatski. Um and um uh they're general counsel for us. So if there's
029an issue that doesn't fall under one of those ones that I was talking about, property, bond, construction, or uh health insurance, we would use Weston Herd. They're our main one. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? Roll call. >> Craft. Yes. Manukan, >> yes. >> Grown, yes. Lamb, >> yes. Pier, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Is there a motion to approve or F resolution to approve board of education memberships? >> Some moved. >> Second. >> Discussion. This is a normal OSBA, the legal fund, the Cleveland, Greater Cleveland Superintendent Association, the Alliance for High Quality Education. That was the lunchon that we all went to at um OSBA and the Westshore Chamber of Commerce. >> I will say I appreciate the board's involvement in these organizations uh both participating in it and uh and being
030represented in these organizations. um especially over the past several years as funding uh has significantly changed for schools and uh they're continue there seems to be a continuation into this new year of some changes with or ideas for changes within Columbus. So uh they are advocates for us. Uh the alliance has been fantastic in helping advocate for our district and districts like us over the past several years. Uh and I hope the board will cons uh consider uh keeping their memberships in each of these organizations. I've been very impressed with how the alliance has been doing with the particularly the advocacy portion. >> Any other discussion? >> Ron, >> yes. >> Benukan, >> yes. >> Craft, >> yes. Lamb, >> yes. Po, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Moving on to 4G. A motion to
031approve resolution to appoint purchasing agent/ authority. Is there a motion to approve it? >> So moved. second. >> So, this is uh again, we're now getting into that part I spoke about earlier uh with those standing authorizations. This is delegating that authority from the board. Um and you're going to see a lot of these uh next few so I don't have to talk about each one individually. Um are going to delegate authority for a number of uh things that we do in the district or under board policy requires a delegate a delegate. uh you're being asked to delegate your authority to Dr. Gagan. Uh he is able to delegate that authority to someone else. So um in this particular case, our purchasing agents are uh Dr. Gagan and uh Adam House, our business manager. So
032uh those are the only two people in the district who are able to sign u off on requisitions um in order for it to be converted to a purchase order. Without their signature, it would have to come to the board of education uh for approval. So this allows us to uh move forward with purchases that we do every day within the uh appropriations that the board sets. Um so this is your purchasing authority, but you'll see other pieces over the next several of them that will be everything from asbesus management, records retention, safety, title n uh hearing officers. So if you have any questions, please uh speak up and we can answer those. But this again starts this uh portion or continues the portion of delegating a forward. >> Yeah. I just had a quick
033question under this [clears throat] one. It says uh the recommended action was uh resolved that the Westlake City School Board or Westlake City Schools Board of Education appoints uh Scott Gagan or his designate. Does that have to be design or does that need to have Mr. House's name in there? >> Um >> and I apologize where you're looking at here. I think for Spanish. >> Um, >> yes. I would say that remove the uh designate and we would say uh Scott Oen uh or Adam House if that would be okay if we amend it to that. Yeah, I just was curious because we've just done the legal council and [laughter] >> thank you. >> Do we need a full motion on the uh >> so in this case we would need a motion to amend.
034>> Yep. >> So moved. Second. >> So to accept the amendment of changing it to where we have the superintendent listed, it would be the superintendent or business manager. >> Okay. >> Is that okay? >> That works. >> Would you like to call roll on the amended the the change? And this is solely voting on the amending this resolution. Uh where again where it says superintendent uh in the paragraph it would say superintendent or business manager. >> Venukan. >> Yes. >> Craft. >> Yes. >> Brown. >> Yes. >> Lamb. >> Yes. >> Pan. >> Yes. >> The motion to amend is approved. So now we would go back and is there any other discussion or would you like to call for more discussion on the original? Is >> there any more discussion on the Okay,
035roll call >> and this is calling roll on now the amended resolution. Fenukin, >> yes. >> Craft, >> yes. >> Brown, >> yes. >> Lamb, >> yes. >> Motion carries. Thank you for catching up. >> All right, moving on to 4H. Is there a motion to approve the uh uh appointing the prevailing wage coordinator, asbesus coordinator, ADA compliance safety officer, and records retention officer? >> So moved. >> Second, >> discussion roll call. >> Readan, >> yes. >> Ro, yes. Lynn, >> yes. Hear none. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. >> Moving on to 4 I. Resolution to appoint motion uh to appoint title N hearing officer, non-discrimination hearing officer, sexual harassment hearing officer, suspension hearing officer, and expulsion hearing officer. Is there a motion to approve? >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Roll
036call. Vukin, >> yes. >> Ran, >> yes. Craft, >> yes. Lamb, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Next is 4J, which is a resolution to reaffirm the vision statement and mission statement of Westlake City Schools. The vision statement is the Westlake City School District will be will provide a dynamic student centered learning environment. Our district will be characterized by high achievement, actively engaged learners, mutual respect, shared knowledge, pursuit of new skills and capabilities, collaborative learning, willing willingness to take action, a team commitment to datadriven continuous improvement through our strategic planning process and tangible results. Our mission statement is we educate for excellence, empowering all students to achieve their educational goals, to direct their lives, and to contribute to society. Is there a motion for 4J? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Discussion. >> Roll call.
037>> Ref. >> Yes. >> Benukan, >> yes. >> Rome, >> yes. >> Lynn, >> yes. >> Piran, >> yes. >> Motion. [clears throat] 4K is our resolution to reaffirm the board of education belief statements as in we've done in the past. We have kind of taken turns going through reading these. Do you want us to approve it first or do you want us to >> No, we I would need a motion second first. >> Uh motion to approve this. >> So moved. Second. >> Okay. Let's go ahead and start with Mr. Lamb. You want to start with number one and we'll kind of go down the line. Leadership in education is not about our district being number one. It is about striving to make our students number one. Uh we must develop their skills and
038must harness our resources uh from the outside as well as inside. We must employ the best and brightest and focus on taking care of students. The rest flows from that point forward. Leadership and education. Number two, we believe that Westlake City School Districts is a superior performing student focused district academic. >> Our primary responsibility is to ensure that every student is challenged to excel and to achieve at one's maximum potential academic. >> The support of the community is critical to our district's success and we will and it will be earned through effective, open, and honest communication and demonstrated results. Communication. We have an obligation to preserve the community's assets and provide a safe, well-maintained environment for learning. >> The administration, staff, and board are partners in the entire educational process for our students and are
039responsible for removing those barriers which could impact upon the achievement of our students. The administration, staff, and board have a responsibility to work collaboratively in a climate mutual respect focusing on student achievement. Extracurricular and co-curricular programs and activities are an integral part of the educational process and can significantly contribute positively to the character of our students while bringing significant recognition, pride, and support from the community. Any additional discussion? >> Roll call. >> Ron, >> yes. >> Lamb, >> yes. >> Manukan, >> yes. >> Craft, >> yes. >> You're not? >> Yes. >> Motion carries. >> Moving on to 4L, a resolution to reaffirm our framework for board operations. Is there a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> And let's continue reading this one. I'll just pick up from where we were. The board's first
040and foremost responsibility is to be a trustee for the education of our students within the financial parameters determined by our taxpayers. >> This board delegates the responsibility of the daily management of the district to the superintendent and CFO treasurer in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code. >> This board, the superintendent and the CFO treasurer will work together as a team for the betterment of the students, district, and entire community. >> This board is a single unit with five contributing members. The strength of this board is in the diversity of its members. >> Members of this board vote individually but act as one as determined by the majority of the board, including providing support for the decisions made. The president of this board acts as a spokesperson for this board. >> Members of this board must
041realize that we cannot be all things to all people. >> This board believes that all people should be treated with dignity and respect. >> Any other discussion? Roll call. >> Lamb, >> yes. >> Bookan, [clears throat] >> yes. >> Brown, >> yes. Craft, >> yes. Jan, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Moving on to 4M, a resolution to reaffirm the board, superintendent, CFO, treasurer guidelines. Is there a motion? >> So move. >> Second. >> Discussion. Do we want to read this one? I'm trying to remember if we've done this one in the past. your call. Well, >> let's just go for it. Um, I'll pick it up. Uh, the board of education, superintendent, the CFO, treasurer of the Westlake City Schools, the team have collaboratively developed these guidelines to facilitate their work because an academically
042excellent and fiscally responsible school district is important to the community of Westlake. We agreed that the team should be focused on supporting the community's interests as identified in the strategic plan in combination with being fiscally responsible uh to the community as a whole in support of its team members will work to all right I'll start with the first bullet interact together in good faith and share information in order to promote understanding and avoid surprise among the members of the team >> allow reasonable time for the other team members to review and discuss information and data before a decision is to be made encourage Enhance orderly and meaningful public discussion by reading premeating materials and asking questions prior to the meeting if items are not understood or if clarity is needed. >> Be prepared to discuss
043matters and make decisions in a timely manner when data and information have been provided. >> Demonstrate professionalism and civility at all times through respectful interactions with all team members. Keep an open mind and focus on resolving issues. Articulate how decisions or suggestions impact both academic excellence and fiscal responsibility. >> Encourage opportunities for questions and meaningful dialogue among the team members before final decisions are made are reached. >> Consider and discuss different points of view before a final decision is made. >> Set collective goals. Evaluate the team's performance and be open to ongoing learning about leading practices and governance and team-based leadership. Any other discussion? >> Okay. Um I carry a separate bond by both uh uh state law and uh our the board contract between me and the board. Uh but this would be uh for uh issues that uh generally
045uh within your uh scope of work but would not otherwise be covered by our insurance which is rare. In my career I've not had run across that. Second. >> I hear Bonut first. >> Discussion. >> This is our change drawers that we use for sale of tickets for your athletics uh athletic events for all of your cafeteria pieces. The high school. We also have a change drawer uh there as well. Uh the difference
047between a change drawer and petty cash is the petty cash money would go out and a receipt goes in in its place until we replenish that money. Change drawers always have the same amount of money in it. It's literally just to make change at cash events. That money is securely stored until the next event. And then uh like for athletics um we scale it back significantly after winter season because we have very little uh ticket sales in the spring. It's just for one sport. >> I know you brought this up uh earlier, easy um cash say for the turnpike. Do do we use easy pass for >> We don't we've looked at it in the past. Um >> uh and and we don't do a ton on the turnpike. >> Um and so we're not
048sure if it would be all that relevant, but we have looked at it in the past. >> But it would take cash out of, you know, out of the flow, right? >> It would take cash out of the flow. you have to tie it to like a credit card and we only have purchasing cards that have zero limits until we add money to it. >> Thank you. >> So, it's a little bit >> I'm with you. >> Would it be worth looking at again? Because I know they've just up the return pipe fees again >> and just it's significantly less if you'd go use an easy pass. >> I can talk to Mr. House and Mr. Banks uh and ask them to uh research if it would be uh feasible for us or not. Aren't
049they usually specific to a vehicle? >> No, you can tie them to your license plate. Uh, so you could have multiple license plate on the same transponder. >> Okay. So, we would have a lot >> because you never know which one. >> You don't know which bus is being used. So, you'd have to cover all of your buses, but you might only get five transponders or 10 transponders, whatever the most amount we would ever have, >> right, >> on the turn point at the same time. >> For whatever it's worth, I wave mine. So, it's like it's just this mobile thing that I wave as I'm going >> like on your phone. >> Uh, no. It's on the transponder. Um, I just don't like >> throw it on there. >> Yeah. Just just >> I
050think that's it. >> I just pay cash. >> It's a long time. >> As somebody who drives back and forth to Chicago enough, >> you just put it on and you just let it go >> or wait it.
