Where do you go? >> So, he's on the heat. Screws us. Yep. >> He can handle my gold leg. >> He came in strong. >> What you get with these really long legs there? I don't have a problem. I'm sliding right under. >> It's not the height. It's the It's the You got to make sure you don't >> Oh, I did I do catch it on my leg, too. >> You're going to get that. >> You got it on that forehead? >> No, it's the It's the legs are the the whatever bar that smash your knees bar. >> You want to see that? >> Since it's our first time in this space, I'm going to do this. Call the meeting to order at 6:00. >> Here. >> Will you stand for the Pledge of Allegiance?

>> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> There's a flag of the air too, so I'm pointing that way, but I don't think [snorts] you all mind if I do. >> That's the other flag. >> All right, thank you. It's great to be here for our first meeting in our beautiful new building. Long time coming. Thank you to Jim and Patrick and to our former treasurer Brett and our former former board and everybody that played a part in making this happen. It's It's great to be here. Uh You know, we refer to this building and its predecessor as the board office, but that's really a misnomer as we've talked about

before, cuz we only have to be here twice a month, right? And there are 20 people? >> Who's 20? >> 20 people come to work here every day, and used to come to work there every day. Uh and we're happy for them that they will be in a much more comfortable working environment. I mean, we can hardly believe it. >> After they renamed that place, I cannot say it. But >> I'm sure. >> We're very happy, very well over in awesome. >> I'm glad to be here and hope public comes up and enjoy this one. >> With that, we'll move into our administrative reports. Uh PTA council uh does not have a rep here, but uh PTA is awesome. They're doing great. Uh moving on to Polaris update. Uh last week was exciting at Polaris.

We had a um a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new ERA wing for Polaris, which stands for engineering, robotics, and automation. Um beautiful new wing of the building. Uh the Lieutenant Governor Husted was there. A number of uh local officials were there for that, so that was really cool. Exciting for the kids. Big news today. Uh Any questions? Moving on to our assistant superintendent, >> I have just a few updates for you today. One, I'll draw your attention to later in the agenda, where we have an addendum to the first reading of the network, so we can talk about it and have a session today. Um if if you would like, or I can talk about that now, but want to draw your attention to after our conversation with you, we added some discussed later.

I look forward to that later as well. >> Sure. >> Very good. Um secondly, um as you mentioned, Polaris Career Center, we had our final teacher induction um get-together with our cohorts. A reminder that the all new teachers including cohorts, and we have about seven times to provide orientation to the district. Everything from nuts symbol to HR, but also our instructional philosophy as we partner with the district. Um and talk about designing engaging work. But we also tour buildings um including Polaris Career Center. So our last session was last week where we started at the restaurant Bill Evans gives us a tour is our host and gives us a tour of the entire center. Um so had a chance to see the new engineering Um so that was a great experience for our teachers and

our intention is for them to then then be a course through our 360 vision. Seeing everything from the preschool classroom all the way up to Polaris. Um and also having time to um create fellowship with each other and have support as new teachers. Our mentors are also part of that process too. So we're really proud of how that second year went for our teachers. Um next year we'll have about a cohort of eight teachers or six and so and we are officially done um with that interview um process for next year. So. And then some of you were able to participate or visit yesterday. Thank you. We had a a culminating experience with our action research. So that means that our five buildings back in October committed to asking a question that's important to them

as it relates to student learning and teaching in their particular building. Um and it's interconnected with benefits-based accountability, PBIS programming, but also what is instruction within that framework. So yesterday each of the five buildings um took the floor in this room and were able to present um their action research. So that agenda's been shared throughout the district. It's been shared with you um including their presentations and I'm really proud of um the work. This room was packed and even though um it was packed it was exciting. We had a a another district in Independence also joining us. As you know, Colleen Cogan was with us for 11 years and was instrumental in the work that we've done in our district as well. So, she brought about 16 staff with her to showcase everything that's been

done here and we were just notified by Dr. Musgrove that she's one of our select partners. She's with Independence today and had shared that the staff were just really inspired by what they saw yesterday and I know I was as well. So, action research topics, everything from how do we continue to design engaging work for our beginning Bulldog with our select playlist and adapting that for our youngest learners to how do we continue to appropriate climate making skills so students feel more connected to the school because that's really important to teaching them to be good Dr. Lloyd also was there. He was helping with the tech but also interacting >> It did get digitally recorded. So, we're trying to figure out how to access the digital recording. People can access that. Send it to the

staff. So, we can pull that down and share that with you. Presentations are 15-20 minutes. >> 15-20 minutes. >> Yeah, something like that. So, again, like Dr. Boss said, just absolutely inspiring. So proud just to see so where we started and where we've come it's been incredible. >> Well, in each of the presentations, the other four buildings listen and then we do a Padlet protocol. So, we take 5 minutes and allow them to identify. So, if ECC just presented, the other four buildings will identify an affirmation, a what if and a third ask. And then they engage with the early childhood center after the presentation and share out. So, it gives them something to think about and and feel proud of. And um so it is a culminating day and it's awesome because we have

the visual art preschool teacher here to a preschool special education teacher all in together. Um and so thank you Dr. Boyd for allowing us to have that time and space. Um and it was just an awesome day and I'm really proud of the work they've done. And then we're finally working on end of the year business. We're thinking about how do we get those last orders in for books that we need for next year but also planning for those special events that are still happening before and after the last year. So that's my update. Questions? Okay. >> Also thank you for >> It's all Oh. >> We thought we'd do I could just look at We thought we'd do that. >> [laughter] >> Yep, that's it. Good job. >> How many cells do we get

to the end of the year? But um now we're just wrapping up the We're wrapping up the fiscal year. We are starting first round of UK. We're listening to the UK so the number of UK but then we develop this We can have maybe 10 different things to do with one thing or we're making the payments funds. So if you need to lose the check to reissue the check We did that the last first check problem We sent it out. I don't know how it was presented. Seven months ago we started when our checks were compromised. Some of the things that we're going to now have to work on. It's a huge burden on our staff. Finances and staff. It's nice to talk to you today. State legislature. New public education. I think it's eye-opening

to something that you don't know what's going Maybe. It's not our fault for asking. Residents are fine all the time. I think it's a problem. So. That's why we do it. It's not a Perfect. Questions? That's what >> Sure. I have a couple things. Um Welcome to the new space. You can those that have not walked around yet, we can do more of that. Just kind of show you where you We ease into the space. Um it's been very easy to do. We're still finding kind of like our our way through it, but everybody's pitched in. It's been just awesome. I can say everything that's happened so far. Um I did just want to let you know I I added an executive session to talk about personnel. There's a personnel item that's been out there

for quite a while regarding I don't think it needs to be very long, but I give you my first sense, um, on the future. So, I did As Patrick said today, uh, was the second host, um, kind of event that we had. We had the, uh, the Chamber here, and so, just wanted to thank Kim for working with, uh, with them to set all of that up and kind of making sure all the logistics were there. Um, Julianne had a lot to do with that as well. Then, everybody in here who works in the central office helped to make that happen, uh, too. So, um, I thought that, uh, it was a good event. And I'll kind of defer to, uh, the board members that that were there. Thank you for being there. Those that

were not, um, I put a little folder that you have. We had a I don't know if you got a packet of stuff, but it was a folder with all of the things, um, in there to really sort of describe what it is that we did. But, you know, for me, we had we had not done a chain a, uh, state of the schools for a while. And Chamber asked for it, and I think, um, where we were in the school year, it was really adult led. Um, so, what we need to do, Kim and I and others have talked about this, is do one in the fall that really is going to be more student led. It's really, um, we're going to bring in kids. And when you bring in kids, and they do

different things, and their parents come, and, you know, we would really think of like, um, how there's building presentations, but having all that on one night and a focus on each building where people can go and do different things. And so, um, we'll we'll talk about that of how we're going to set that up in the fall. This one, I thought was good though, provided or not, and just the topics that we talked about. For what I did first was just provide kind of a start to finish at least over the last decade plus a couple years, um, of organizational transformation from our previous vision statement and kind of like what it was to really the one that we have now, and and really what that did. I Because it it a Chamber group, We

really wanted to focus on the shift from a bureaucratic organization to a learning organization and then the different types of challenges associated within each one of those and really the adaptive challenges that we really had to address during that whole transformation and then ended on our benefits based accountability system before and then passed it over to Patrick who did a great job talking about the finances and I think the one chart that shows like right when Durov was there they were paying like 45-ish percent and then here it is in 2026 and they're paying like 20% of whatever I think I forget what it Yeah, you know, and it's like it's going down and that's the reason and then I said and I knew the answer I was like, "So Patrick, who pays that extra

money?" And they all were like, "You do." Right? I mean and and so yeah, we go to them and we ask for additional resources. That's how the system works, but it's being done to them and it's not being done by us. It's being done by others and they I think know that. So I think we need to do that as much as possible. You all saw kind of how the levy cycles went for the different districts that were on there. I mean Lorraine did a Hail Mary and scored a touchdown. The others did not so much. I mean it was not a not a good thing. So I thought that the finance part was really really cool. He got up and talked about the state of the schools and really the physical plant and facilities

plan and did a great job there and then Shannon talked a little bit about um teaching and learning environment and the different things we're doing with design and all the portrait of a graduate work and then Jules finished with her community connections and really had a focus on how the chamber can to help us connect with kids and I It was It was great. We also believe that, too. 6 terabytes of memory and They would have had plenty of space. Um it's kind of cool. So, um I think that's really really it. Um last night as I was out to dinner with, you know, my wife and Anissa, I get this call like about the creepy van person and you know, I was glad and thank I didn't get a chance to thank you today,

Kim, for like going So, I was like, "Yeah, I'm I'm driving in my car right now and like, you know, everybody's And they're like, "Should we send this just to the people who were impacted by that or everybody?" I'm like, "Okay, if we have like strangeness going on, people will be in So, that's why um it went It was like more is better than less." And that's why I decided I'm not really sure. I'm not really sure about that. That is uh Is that the graduation coming up? We have um the board and admin dinner that evening. We may not get the board. Um we asked for it. We'll be there. So, we'll have that. I'm trying to think if there's anything else that's major that I can share. Do you guys have any questions

for for me? What is the uh What is the I don't know. Yeah, that's a good question. So, um it's a combination of different things as it relates to taking the utilities offline. And there've been some snafus, issues with communicating with the utility companies to turn those off. I don't have that date in my head, but there are a number of other things that need to happen. And I believe the electrical might be the very, very last one. We have to make certain that all the paper products or whatever might any made out of paper today because they're going to you know, do the culture guys and bring it down and then like carry it pick it and carry it away. So they can do the whole I I think um my my guess is

they will be on site um through July. To do the parking to do that to do the underground water storage, parking lot and then to do the paving and all the way around. You look in the back part over here about where the rebar and things are. That that's where they're going to put um pads for the dumpster and everything else. And what we've done I mean it's wacky. For the 25 years that we were over in the shack, um you know the one who does garbage day, there's a blue can. That's like our garbage can, you know, for for our professional offices and that lot. We operate with a dumpster. I don't It's the little things in life, guys, that make the difference. [laughter] the dumpster and it's really kind of nice to be

able to have uh to have that. I think you know, we've coordinated our own like, "Hey, pitch in and like, you know, just being having the the space in the the break room to be able to meet with the staff." One of things I was concerned about is we're on top of each other in there. Now we're spread apart, but get your steps in in the morning and throughout the day. You We gather and just People are really happy to come to work. >> That's great. >> So, that's a long story for I'm not really sure when >> But then it would be the goal. The school starts in the fall. >> Oh, this should be cleared out and the mess that's around all here will be cleaned up. There will be grass planted and

everything else. That's what I would say they Yeah, it bothers me when I even when I walk up and down and I see the garbage that's out there. You know Um just so you know, too, if you may see some of the windows boarded up out here. So, our neighbor Gail, couple doors down, whenever we she heard that we were we were kind of stopped up and said, "Is it okay if, you know, if I come and like we have some things." And so, they took the doors and they donated them to Habitat for Humanity. >> That's cool. >> Right? And they wanted And I think our um uh ADA like ramp and things, we donated that to I think I Tim Wolf's church or something like that, I think ended up And they also

took some windows and stuff because she I think has her own uh Somebody does, I think. >> Down the road, kind of Sunday we just experienced. >> But >> They came and they got they got the windows and they boarded them up. >> Cool. >> Yeah. >> Really nice. >> What will the parking situation be because I know right here in front there's handful. Are there like is this area over here going to be paved? >> This area in front of us, there will be an there will be like 30 parkings. >> I see here. >> Something in the front here. Yeah, we're >> So, once the house goes down >> Yeah, once that goes down, they'll put the um underground water uh retention and kind of like stuff in there and then I don't

have the exact number, but it's it's about 30. Um is what it will be. That over there will be taken away and there will be grass and trees over on that side. Um there will be parking and then in front of the parking toward the road and sidewalk car, that's where uh they'll be We're very specific with the township about that. Uh there will be trees, there will be landscaped and >> What about parking lot? >> I don't know what the zoning process is. >> Okay. >> I found a Oh, that's all before you joined our meeting. It's it's a nice AI picture. It'll show you like what it was like. Sending it right now. >> Perfect. >> I have to send it to all you all you newbies. >> Thank you. >> When we

made the pitch to uh the township, that was one of the things we were able to do because we had some people show up and we don't want big lights in in for them. I mean, we're all good neighbors. So, we were really cognizant of that. So, so I got Any other questions? >> Thank you. Uh moving on to the hearing of the public. I don't see any public. I think there's one regular, he couldn't make it, so. Uh moving on to uh the consent agenda, public treasurers consent. Consent agenda four, superintendents recommendations, consent agenda five. Uh We'll accept the motion on these and we can discuss or accept a motion to accept items in consent agenda one and five. Okay. So, no one else has any specific discussion on any of these items. >>

Yes, so the promissory note that you see here is provided by a really good I think for some loan books. And we have to both sign this to get that rating secured. Small businesses have fees to to go through with that. But we thought it was the best solution to go I think we would save a lot of interest. I'm not qualified by the bank to So, I think that's That's going to be the only way. Uh this company And then the [clears throat] 12 K 12 business consultants really good contract for the forecasts. I was really good >> And then I want to maybe can I pause you on that? You want to maybe I don't know if you but can I pause you before we explain what K 12 is and then maybe

for us to get >> Sure. So, um there are really two Well, there're a few executive search firms. Um, OSBA is one. My experience with that one, and we did that one time here at Triad, that was not very high-quality experience. The other one is Finding Leaders, you may have heard of. That's Paul Poulton and his group, and it's been led by another group. Um, they have done things mostly north of Mansfield is kind of like their area. K-12, um, is Chris Moore's company, and Chris Moore is former treasurer, um, of Dublin. And uh, I've known him for for a little while. He came on whenever Brett came on. Um, the board at that particular point in time hired K-12 to do treasurer search. They got Brett, and then had success with that, and now

we see the board hired K-12 again to do treasurer search, and that's why we we got the contract. And so, um, they also offer services for other different kinds of things as well. >> I just wanted to comment. You said when you found Brett successful, and then said we also found Patrick. >> It's very successful. >> [laughter] >> I'm worried that you left that part out, but that's >> Well, you know, I love Brett and everything. I will say like with Patrick is um, and now you you like you called me out again at least say something. really good. But just say in the matter, and there are things on this agenda, quite honestly, that um, he's going to put different things in place that's really going to um, up our game for a number

of different things that safety protocols for like different groups that are associated with us to make certain that they are following um, the rules that they provide um, in order to have their uh, you know, their status that they have. But um, anyway, K-12 and Chris Moore's group is somebody that we talk to and consult with Patrick um, about forecasting and other things. It is service that I about eight years ago was begging the board of like getting involved in because he's just a genius who knows and he can keep them honest with us. I'm really happy >> Uh I think we use Kedu all that stuff in the office. >> Chris is great. He's been in the industry for 30 plus years. Any time I had a question about something that's going on or

where I need to receive this he's always there to help me. Questions help me to get answers to that. Chris is the best. And then Givebacks, which I talked about a couple times. Make sure that everybody in house, a lot of our student organizations, as well as some external organizations like the PTA. Like boosters, looking at just making sure Make sure everyone's being compliant. And any time there might be some turnover in house in the organization. So, it's not kind of being paid. I thought boosters I didn't know that. creation Yeah, I didn't know that. All that is nice housing for them. So, some student organizations are compliant and some of the dollars and the dollars as well. Also, it's fundraising for the clubs as well. So, it's really nice housing a lot of the

funds and find something We don't use that. What is the What do we use? >> Givebacks is the name of the org. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um so, we have some processes that we can use for the funds. Google Forms for some of the information. Fundraising Fundraising is the approval process. Um but they're not all housed in the organization. Okay. First payments are here. Approvals are here. First payments are here. All in house. It's easier and >> Our PTA has been using good practice since 2021. PTA has their own site. Um that's all been collected and we have three points. But Ohio PTA funds their site. So hopefully we'll be able to discuss this. >> There are certain groups that may come to you and express their whatever because they have not had anything. Maybe

it's just You've asked for things and uh um have not gotten those. And and it's been a point of contention to be quite honest with you. And I was I was glad like everybody's on the same system. This is what we're going to do to kind of get us on here with uh And all those other money >> Yeah, and just like tracking This is just a small piece of what we can do. I was talking clients piece of it on their organization. Credit card sales or anything like that. And what our members said through licenses. >> I call Pro Dads maybe. >> marketing group, yeah. >> Pro Dads will be there. >> football or one of the other. >> Yeah, that'll be another one, right? >> I mean this >> That's great. >> Anything

else for you? Any questions? Joker. After the superintendent's meeting there. I got I got you. Want to discuss some of the Sure. >> Item Item I I If you look at that, you're going to see the five grant handbook that also five proposed addendums that would be added to the addendum. So, we're always sensitive to families having students in multiple buildings and really having symmetry with the having communication tool. Um we had a great discussion at our last board meeting about some of the buildings had an assessment section and some did not and we have you know greater clarity on that. So, I worked with the buildings um since our last board meeting and we have placed into the agenda proposed additions for an assessment section. Um and it really covers three types of assessments.

Your state-wide assessments and when those are given and which grades and which content area. But then district-wide assessments. Um and those are going to vary depending on the grade and the building but those are defined. And then finally um curriculum-based assessments. So, that might be um for example our foundations program in K-1 2. Um there are assessments built into that program that those teachers will be using. Um so, we captured that in there as well. Um I think this is a great addition. Um I feel really good about it and with your approval we would then place it into the network and we would update the future mission. Um and then we would consider those funds. So, I'm happy to answer any questions for you um for those additions. And if you click, you'll see

they're just very brief. We tried to keep them brief so it's just one bullet section. >> That that's very helpful. And you know, we can place this here. >> So, this is this is Early Childhood Center's entire handbook. Um and then Patrick, if you which you've all had a chance to view it, you can go back to the agenda and go down to ECC assessment section. Um this would then be placed into the handbook. This one looks longer because it's preschool and they're and their assessments are different. Whereas Falls Lenox is probably the third of this context. >> First reading about that. Do you have anything else that >> Yeah, just a couple different things that are first reading of the AI framework. We have a responsible get something any board policy about that according

to our bylaws. So, that is in there that first first reading will look a little bit different than some of the other policies. Um H is uh the early entrance policy that's a second reading for that. So, you approve that one. There was one I can't remember there was I just made an adjustment that you may have gotten an email about. Um there was a person that was listed that it should not have been in there, right? And it was Kelsey Bolger. And it was listed under early childhood center summer special education evaluations. I just wanted to make sure you didn't vote on To vote on something with a person that was I messed it up then. I did not mess it up. So, that's that's that. Um I think everything else is relatively straightforward.

You see some resignations, you see some people kind of being moved around a little bit. I will say finally I'm um if you go to to K, the classified, and you look and see that we have approved um a mechanic to help out Mr. Polcar finally. There was some things that were pending there that were weird with uh fingerprints and stuff, but Mark Vance um is an alumni and is going to come on uh this school year and then which is great. I mean, it's going to be it's going to be nice to have some help. Cuz he's just you know, it's been tough. So, um we're we've I put Debbie Tracy on there as well. We need somebody um to assist in the front sometimes for things. And so, whenever Kayla or somebody else

is out, um she is on there, but you know, I'm going to there's an update kind of about um about Brian. We're not going to talk in public really about that, but one of the things that we're working on is some of the the transition with Debbie's retirement and Nancy going into um that position along with some of the other hirings. And then, Brian not being able to be here to kind of help um train Nancy and get her to where she needs to be. We have some gaps. There's some things that gaps and processes that quite honestly Shannon and I um talked to the HR about and I've talked to Brian about as well that we're trying to identify even the things that we don't know that are the these like in the weeds

processes that are run underneath that we just don't know that he he knows. And so, we may need um some additional support with that in order to get us through. Don't really know about that yet, but it's the reason why I put 25 26 on there cuz there may be some things that now that after we're through hiring season and that went well, we're able to do all that. Now it's the onboarding season and that is pretty interesting and different. And so, that's something that we had our hands not on. So, we want to support the people doing that. So, they could potentially come on as soon as that. That's why um you know, to see I don't think that there's anything else that's like out of the ordinary It's under J, did you say?

>> Uh >> And it's not It's a resignation, right? >> and the same position has to double up on that. >> Um this >> Okay. I'm sending my email now. It's not a >> Oh, that may not Okay. Yeah, obviously, if there's not a contract to approve because the person is resigning, that was They removed the two spaces, but they weren't removed in three spaces. They should be removed. Um in three spaces. We're losing it another set of eyes that have been on these things. You've lost another set of eyes, I should say. >> So, you should >> Yes, well, no, I believe that that was um a mistake that should have been taken off. I think um I know for Yeah, that should not be there. So, I don't know um Patrick, is it

If somebody's listed there and they've already approved that If there's no contract, it's a You need to remove it. that position out. >> Yeah, okay. You can do that in time. Do that today. Okay. >> Thank you for that. I appreciate I totally do. Did not think of that. Yeah. >> This is a possible >> Is this being pulled out? >> I will abstain from voting on this. Just for >> Okay. >> Yep. Is your preference when we do this and remind me do you like pull it out and do it separately? That way you can vote on all of them. That way you don't have to like abstain from all of them. >> Got it. >> And I'm sorry about that. You reminded me of that last time and you did not If that

happens >> If that happens >> We'll see. >> We'll deal with it. Okay, any other questions or comments about anything on the central agenda for 45? Solano, you can call the >> Solano Same as last >> Yes. >> Same as >> Same. >> Solano >> Yes. Yes. >> Okay. Awesome. Thank you everybody. >> Um That's for next week. We talked about that. Looking forward to working with you beforehand. I think it's a great board and central office tradition. It'll be fun. It's the earliest any of you will eat dinner.
