I'm going to uh begin the meeting with a moment of silence. Um I'm asking for a moment of silence. Um so before we begin today's meeting, I want you to join with me this brief moment of silence. This is a remembrance for the lives lost forever changed by gun violence in our communities across the nation. Let us honor their memory. Stand in solidarity with those grieving and reflect on our shared responsibility to build safer space for all. >> Thank you. >> Mr. Stel, would you please call the role? Mrs. Farwig here. >> Mr. Vasquez here. Mr. Parker here. Mrs. Ger >> here. >> And next we'll have the pledge of allegiance uh said by elementary kindergarten. The Bur Elementary students will now follow up with the mission vision. Thank you. They do that better than

Dr. J. Uh next, uh I'd like to ask for a motion to adopt the agenda for tonight's meeting. >> So move. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Uh any discussion? If not, treasure, please call the role. >> Mrs. Farley, >> yes. >> Mr. Rasquez, >> yes. >> Mr. Parker, >> yes. Mrs. Ger, >> yes. >> Uh, next on the agenda are u the, uh, smarts wellness room opening presentation. >> Yes. Good evening. U, last month we hosted an opening event for the first smart wellness room. This room is shared by students at Toledo Technology Academy and the Premed and Health Science. Two videos were produced. One focuses on how students work to make student mental health a priority and the second highlights the partners who came together to help make the students dream

a reality. >> [music] >> A number of years ago, the uh school board and schoolboard members came to Dr. Durant to talk about having a group of we call student voice. We had heard about this across the country. We wanted to make sure that maybe we could do something like that. Dr. Durant was uh all over it. He wanted to do it. It was just making sure that we did it right. And I knew it right was allowing the students to speak with as little adult guidance as possible. So it was really their thoughts, their ideas. Smarts is the name that they chose from the group and so they have been very influential and today they're seeing the benefits and the fruits of their labor saying, "Hey, we need more health opportunities location. This is

their way to give the fruit of their labor." their leadership need to say this is an outcome and this is what we want every student to decompress to you know lift your feelings out if you're stressed out. It's just an environment to go into if like the classroom becomes too much and you just really need a break. Everyone goes through it and this is an opportunity to, you know, have the help and like resources to relax, take a breath, realize that it's okay if you're upset and everything's going to be okay. One of the things that people fail to realize that these kids carry their baggage with them to school. It is a huge barrier impacting their education, their focus uh as well as a lot of times their self-esteem and then moving into really

their confidence level. So one of the things that we have done really taken mental health a serious priority there was in this district. They wanted to make sure though that they weren't stigmatized talking about their own mental health and how how the school system and how school board would view that at first. We forget that they're just young people with ideas because we're system built from adult thinking and that's what we designed. So I'll tell you it's this kind of stuff that just makes TPS proud. I would like to just hear from our students and I feel like that's what our TTA smarts team does is we like to hear from our students about what they need help with, how we're able to do anything for them. And this movie is just one of the

ways we're able to do that. [music] My name is Army Johnson, TPS. >> Well, before we get on to the next thing, I just want to make a couple comments about that. And I want to give credit to uh uh Holly Taylor and and Chris Farwig. uh they came talked to us about uh they were one of the first ones that came to talk to us about a student voice group and I have to be honest with you I no and uh they said trust us and I'm glad I did because that was just a phenomenal group. So thank thank you uh to my fellow board members. Uh the next uh presentation um are retirees. Thank you. So our retirees tonight are Adrienne Homeburn from Largemont 26 years 6 months. Brenda Jones night custodian at

TTA 30 years 4 months. Elizabeth Harold grade five at DVU 31 years. Laura Hixon, grade three at Stewart, 31 years. Jacqueline Yolinski, male service at Woodward, 31 years, 3 months. Julie Ray, grade four at Arlington, 32 years. Donna Thomas, grade two at Whittier, 32 years. Jan Rowski, grade six at Elmherst, 38 years. and Clarence Price CPO 39 years 10 months for a total of 291 years and four months. Congratulations to our retirees. >> Thank you, Miss Brinkman. Uh section three, assist of uh community comments and I'm going to ask Mr. Sulty to recite the policy regarding community conferences. The board values the input of citizens and community members regarding all aspects of the district. Board understands that education is the center of all community issues and activities and that input is important because allows the

board to hear all views on all matters. In order to ensure our quality public comment portion during board meetings, all citizens and community members who are set to speak before the board shall abide by these general rules. One, each speaker has three minutes unless modified by the board president. Two, a time will be displayed for the speaker and the public to see. The treasur will announce when time has expired. Three, any questions that speakers would like responses to should be submitted in writing and for president will secure answers within a reasonable time frame, normally 7 to 10 days, depending on the amount of research required to provide the comprehensive response and the timesensitive nature of the question. Four, board members will not engage in policy dialogue speakers, but will use their established committee format to

have substantive dialogue. The public comment section is the opportunity for the board to listen to all citizens and all committee members may contact the speakers following the meeting for individual feedback and questions. The general guidelines are established as a way to provide the maximum opportunity for board members to listen to citizens and community members and provide an organized and structured procedure for feedback that will help our students and families. >> Thank you, Mr. Spe. We have one uh uh individual signed up to be a community speaker and that would be Miss Shayla Hill. Please come up for nervous but I have my little notes so I can kind of follow along. Um I just wanted to bring awareness to an issue that I I personally am facing with transportation because I do believe that there

are multiple students that are being affected as well just having conversations with my daughter. Um my daughter is enrolled in the advanced academics program which is the gifted program and um she's been enrolled for over a year now and her along with other bus riders are kind of being denied transportation. Um considering the children are already kind of advanced. It's kind of disheartening that instead of making transportation available for the families who are in need and do qualify for it, the only options are really being given is that we either have to find a way to self transport or we have to remove them from the program. Um, removal from the program can be a very major disruption for my daughter as well as other students because I'm certain she's not the only one. Last

year when I presented the issue, we were able to reach an agreement that my daughter had a working bus route within two days and she rode that bus all year. This year her route was changed without warning and the only solutions that I have been presented with as well as others is that we either have to figure it out or remove that from the program. I do believe that TPS does care about the education and success of all the students that you know they are dedicated to, you know, provide transportation to all the students. Um, but when it comes to gifted, it's like we're not being given any other option. It's like either you find a way to get them there or you just take them out. And I just don't feel like that's really

fair to the students who especially have already been in the program because they're already advanced. If we remove them, then that's taking them backwards and that can cause regression and boredom in school and cause behavioral issues that can be a bigger issue that we really don't want to have to deal with. Um, both of my children have been thriving in TPS and I've been TPS proud all the time. this and I just feel like transportation should never be a reason why they should not be allowed to attend a gifted or advanced education program. Um, and to some extent they are being excluded if we are not able to self transport and that is pretty much what it is. I just hope that we can find a better way to, you know, get that situated so

that we can kind of prioritize the education of the children as opposed to the inability of the family to be able to. >> That's all I say. >> Thank you. >> All right. Uh section four is organizational input and uh I'm going to start with uh our student uh representative analysis lesson. >> Hello. Um I'm Lisa Lewendowski. I'm from Wade High School. I'm currently a senior at weight. Um I'm involved in a lot of different activities. I'm multiport athlete. I'm class vice president. I'm in multiple clubs, so I have kind of like my idea of opinions from all over everyone's um Instagram body. Um I'm a proud representative of SMARS. Um I just joined recently actually and so far it's done nothing but benefit me and the student body as a whole. Um we're currently

working on our wellness room. Um we just had somebody come and give us the exact room that we're going to do it in. working on fundraising for that. We're going to do a collaboration with other schools um a fundraiser called culture night which is basically a performance and celebration of other cultures and it's going to help fundra for the decor and the training for that for the longest room. Sorry. Um, we also are using social media and a way to kind of boost student morale and get that out there. So, um, I feel like especially nowadays, social media is very powerful and the way that you use it is very important. So when we're using it like for school and for the student body to like put our ideas out there and take input from

other students um it definitely helps. Um, right now we have um banner wars, which it kind of sounds silly, but it's basically every sport and club is going to make a banner and then at the end of the year we're going to vote on banner and the best one gets a pizza party. Um, and those are some movies we're going to see student. And then we have a lot of plans for 2026, but I'd like to thank TPS and the board as a whole for um really just all the support, the funding, um all of that. And throughout this entire year, the support because at one time was a thing and our student body really didn't have a voice. So now that it's an official club and it's official, um, like we're we feel heard

and I think that's really important and that makes me feel really good and I that makes my classmates feel really good. Um, so thank you all for the tremendous support and thank you for continuing to support us. >> Thank you. And nothing sounds so speak on it. Uh, next by representatives is uh from the P uh PTO growth PTO. Um, and I will let her introduce her. I can't even see. Patrick, introduce yourself. >> Good evening. I'm Janessa Bugatti. Um, I have four children who are in TPS. Three of them actually at Ro Patterson and one is a senior at Woodbury. Um I'm on the uh PTO for Ro Patterson as a parent rep and also um a member of the district parent leadership uh team with Miss Linda. We have been focusing on students

attendance and how this correlates with their academic achievement. Uh Dr. Baker spoke about attendance efforts in a supportive manner and the family's needs um to connection to resources. Uh we also discussed how as parent leaders we can share information um not just with our schools but also within our communities. And then also we discussed how families needs will change come November. So we're sharing ideas on resources for food banks and other organizations uh that are here to help. Um thank you very much for the opportunities of hearing with you all. I'm very proud of TPS and you all support. Thank you so much. Um before I get to the other organizations, I want to thank Miss Brman for uh making sure that we have representation up here of students and parents. Um uh next I

want to recognize uh Mr. Alio Merittz from T. >> No comments today. >> What? >> I think some people know why. >> Thank you. >> All right. Uh I don't see anybody from TFT and I don't see anybody from FS. So that will take us to the next section which are comments by the board and um I will start with uh Bishop Park. Thank you Mr. President. Again we want to thank girls elementary guard class and students for our pledge of allegiance and mission and vision to um our retirees. Congratulations to them. It's always uh an honor to hear the great things that the Sparks Group is doing in different areas, different avenues of their voice, not just being heard, they're action being seen. And so, uh, I encourage our president, thank you, Miss Bar

and Skirkin, for really putting that piece together for our district and getting that ball rolling. And our students love it and they appreciate it. Case in point, our student representative, uh, thank you so much for being with us tonight. and our prayer representative and just the consistency of having these seats filled is always needed and appreciated. So, thank you for the time and the effort of being here with us tonight. I had the privilege uh earlier this month to go a couple of days to the next steps program that took place and was absolutely phenomenal just saying how proud I was of the work that's being done by our district connecting our students who showed up ready to learn our staff our community partners and um it was just amazing just to see how it

was really a reminder that our future is really filled promised really excited to see um our students was working and doing things. I was able to take a dent out of a car uh truck. That was pretty sweet. Like I I felt like I was, you know, I was the man. So, I was happy about that. Being able to learn different skills and things that were available. We also had the opportunity to walk through phase one at Scott Park campus with a fellow my fellow board members. um probably did a little bit sooner, but someone had struggled with the art and uh who named Nathan to my right. But nevertheless, it it was just phenomenal to see the vision that's being carried out by our superintendent and uh the administration and the programs that are

designed for that space is not just preparing our students for the workforce of tomorrow, but also really positions our district as being the leader of innovation, collaboration, and opportunity. So thank you Dr. Durant for that vision and seeing it become a reality is amazing. So uh finally as proud as I am of the progress that we're making I don't want us to evoke the fact that we have challenges that stand before us. So of course at all costs protecting education is our responsibility um and it takes the full strength of a village. I mean the parents, educators, partners, our community as a whole and I guess sometimes um it's kind of disheartening because I know we do a live stream but the question is is anybody even watching this you know and we as board

members share our hearts but we need an evidence Dr. brand of something where our community can really hear uh really the challenges that we're facing as our district and as we're facing with public education outside of a snippet of something. They need to know that uh they're a part of a village that really needs to fight and advocate for public education. So, uh it's my desire that we continue to fight with all we have and use every resource, every connection and yes, use our vote as our voice. That is very important as well. uh because we don't just defend public education in schools but we define for every child who walks through these doors of the future wherever TV is proud. >> Thank you for your partner. I'd like to recognize this public. >> Thank

you. I'm glad you mentioned um the challenges that that we are going to be facing as a district. Um couple few of us are on the ballot to be reelected to this body and while we're unopposed we appreciate that I've had a bit of a switch up when I community um when rather than uh asking for votes because we're unopposed and I'm you know that that's kind of not an issue. I'm asking for the trust of the community as we go forward and face these challenges. Um we we've got a lot ahead of us and we have to figure this out. As a board, I think it's fair to say that we are um we are expecting um to rise to the rise to the challenge and we're expecting the superintendent and his staff to

come up with um a plan that doesn't quite think for our community and maybe um we will come out better on the other side. But we do have uh a lot ahead of us that I that just I guess remains to be fully fleshed out and need to stand by for that those challenges. Um there's another topic I want to bring up. I tend to avoid topics or concerns that I happen to feel like I'm alone on or don't have a lot of support for because I'm just one board member and I'm not here representing my own personal uh concerns. Uh but today I feel like I need to go out on a limb and share that a little bit. Um, if you remember back in 2021, maybe 2022, when our district um first had

an EDI department or DEI department, uh, one of the challenges we went through was taking a look at our school mascots and the appropriateness of them. We went through a very painful process to um to eliminate an offensive mascot in South Toledo. Wasn't easy, but we got through it. At that time, our brand new department head actually researched uh the matter thoroughly and um confirmed that so many communities has already recognized that using indigenous imagery and identity as a mascot is harmful, offensive and outdated. But despite those findings, the district and many alumni opposed even considering the change. uh and as a compromise I think we started just sort of deemphasizing that imagery just didn't push it didn't push for any changes in such imagery. So we were meanwhile at the same time state and

federal governments have been working to pull out all all favor in anything related to DEI [clears throat] and we have been here month after month lamenting those limitations on our ability to be uh inclusive and respectful. It feels a little bit like a contradiction to me that today we're celebrating a famous artist repainting an offensive image on the side of one of our stadiums. I know that there is not much support for position that I am uh that I'm going on the record with today and especially with um with the history and sometimes tradition and history clouds our clouds our vision when it comes to being respectful of the imagery of indigenous people. So, I don't want it to sound like I'm trying to erase history or disrespecting tradition, but I think it's about living

up to our stated values. Uh, and it it is something that I am not um particularly TPS proud of at this moment and I felt the need to go on the record with that. So, I appreciate you hearing my comments on that topic tonight. Thank you. >> Thank you. Next, recognize Chris Bar. >> Thank you, President Vesquez. Um, you know, it's difficult to go after um Pastor uh Randall Parker down there or Bishop Randall Parker because he is so great with words and he says everything that's in my brain. Um, but I I do want to ditto a little bit about Burles Elementary. Um, I'm telling you, kindergarters get right to the heart, right? Like, I mean, how can you not love um seeing and them participating in our board meeting? So, I certainly thank

them for that. Um, and then our retirees, again, I always say this, but we could not do what we do without the hard work and dedication of our staff in the district. And so, thank them for um, you know, sticking around here for as long as they did. 291 years is a lot of years. Um I certainly want to um you know thank our student down here from SMARTS and uh from weight particularly. So Analytic thank you for being here. Thank you for talking about how great SMARTS is and how excited you are about uh what you guys are doing over there. Uh, I would just say from a mama's heart, it warms my heart that um you are um being able to put your voice out there. Uh that's what's most important. And so

I know um back when um you know our my colleague um Skarkin and I were talking about student voice and we did trips and to go check out other areas and other districts that were doing student voice. We knew the impact that it could be but I think it's far exceeded that for me. Um so I'm just so grateful that you're a part of it and that you want to be a part of it. That's exciting to hear. Um, Janessa, thank you for being here. I love seeing parents here. You know, I sat in that seat for many years, um, prior to becoming a board member. So, plant the seed. Just plant the seed. Um, so, thank you. And I know the hard work that it takes for parents when you're involved with PTO's, uh,

what you're doing day in and day out. You know, you don't get paid for that stuff, right? That's a labor of love. So, thank you for being here. Um, so I also want to um thank [clears throat] our parent from the audience. Thank you for being here today. It's not easy. I was one of those parents that sat in this audience and was petrified to come up here and talk and now look where I am. So just again plant the seed. Um, I was able to uh attend trunk or tree. Uh there's quite a few going on uh right now in our district and the kids. I mean, my goodness, how can we not just love all those little uh goblins and so forth. Uh might leave my grandchildren over to Squa today. We're all

smiles. They got some sugared up candy. So, um I will not be watching them tonight. Uh I also was able to go to Riverside and judging yours. I mean, these are the things that I I live for. like I love this stuff. So I I love going to see what the kids put on their doors and what their thought process and creative juices are going. So that's that's exciting stuff to me. I it may seem mundane, but I I love it and so I'm so appreciative that I get invited to those things. Um just to mention that my voice matters. Uh if you can pay attention to social media and the articles in the blade and things like that, these this has been a push for quite some time. Um, I sit on Kids Voting

Ohio as the chair and so it's a really big deal for me to get civic education out there and really focus on that. Part of that is um, you know, the my my voice matters here in the district and every school is doing something a little different and that's great because we're just bringing the idea of voting, right? And the importance of that and how it impacts our schools. So, I'm excited to hear that. Um and certainly want to see some more stories on social media. Uh and then as just as a final note, um this is more of a Debbie Downer, but again, our state legislature government overreach 170 plus bills toward public education. Please pay attention to those. It will impact all of our districts uh across the state. That's it. >> Thank

you. Uh my comments are that uh it it just seems uh that right now we're in the period of challenges that were uh pointed out and uh to be honest with you, I find them somewhat overwhelming and u seem consumed uh by these challenges. But at the same time, I want to be positive and talk about all the great things that we're doing uh in our district. and I really am proud of what we're doing uh with all of our different programs. I think one of the things I'm also most proud of is uh the respectful dialogue that we've had here tonight. And I think that adults can uh from all over can can learn a lot. I look around our room and I see a lot of people and I see a lot of

challenges and uh some of us agree and some of us disagree but we're able to talk about and have a dialogue that is respectful and uh one of the things that I found especially noticeable was with our smart students and always having dialogue with them and just how respectful ful how solutionoriented our students are uh just what a what a great uh group of people that we have. Uh it you're you're a good example for some adults and I'm not talking about anybody in this room talking about what I heard before I came today in one way or another especially in media and so on. It just doesn't seem like adults can have this kind of dialogue anymore and a very respectful dialogue to get their thoughts across and did it very well. Um, so,

uh, I just I just want to say I appreciate all that. Um, I guess that's that's all I have. Thank you. Oh, wait. I do have one more thing. I do have one more thing and that is to talk to uh directly to our delegate and remind him that he is the delegate to the house association. Okay. And we have two important uh things that come up and it's in our packet. The one is a legislative platform that we submitted. By we I mean the district submitted to um the house footboard association for their consideration. And then there's another one where we've been doing some research on. At first we're a little bit concerned about it. We're not quite as concerned about it, but it's something Mr. Parker or Bishop Parker is our representative that

we'd like for you to pay particular attention to, but we're really counting on you to do that. So, if you need anything from either one of us because uh uh M I'm sure Miss Girkin has looked at it and uh Miss Vicking and myself have talked to people at OSBA. So if there's anything we can help you with and I believe there's something coming up. Come on. Okay. So we can do that. Yeah. Okay. >> Can I ask a question? >> Sure. So I I have the um the markup version of for the legislative platform here. Are you saying there's something that this board sent for consideration to the legislative platform? >> Remind me because I know I remember when we did it, but remind >> Yeah, we voted on it. Um and that was

for with the legislative platform. Currently, um all districts can send in a resolution to the legislative platform committee and then they vote on whether or not that goes forward to the delegate assembly or not. Um but there's also a provision in there for someone to just bring something to the board um without anyone right from the floor. Um I'm sorry. Yeah. to the floor and um no one has had eyes on it. So, we're putting our delegate in a position where not one of us on the board has seen what that is being brought forward. And so what we voted on uh in that resolution was to um change that and abolish any kind of resolution or something from the floor and let the OSBA um governance committee find an alternative to that. >> All

right. Good. Good conversation. Uh okay. Any other discussion from board members? Good. All right. Uh that takes us into the consent agenda and that's section six and 601 through 6.40. Uh our consent agenda items. and board members may request to pull an item from the consent and move to the discussion section of the agenda if they so wish. So with that item 6.01 through 6.04 is the human resources staff development training committee chair poly and co-chair Randall Park III. Items 6.05 05 through 6.13 are finance business operations committee chair Bob Vasquez co-chair Randall Parker the third item 6.14 uh is the workforce development partnership committee there was no meeting this month but the chair is Chris Rywick co-chair Bob Vasquez item 6.15 through 6.17 is the board curriculum instruction and academic IC excellence committee the

So >> second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Is there any discussion? Hearing no discussion, Mr. Steel, would you call the RO? >> Mrs. Bartwick? >> Yes. >> Mr. Vasquez? >> Yes. Mr. Parker? >> Yes. Mr. Spin? >> Yes. >> Thank you.

Section seven of the agenda consists of reports and minutes from this month's committee meetings and are here for information reference. No action required. So, we proceed section eight of the agenda. Section eight of the agenda is uh discussion items 8.01 the October 28 2025 instructional section. I would like to request a motion to approve the October 28 2025 instructional section. So move second. >> It's been moved and second. Any discussion? Hearing none. Treasure please call the role. Mrs. Marley >> abstain. >> Mr. Vasquez, >> yes. >> Mr. Parker, >> yes. >> Mrs. Ger, >> yes. >> Uh 8.02 are the October 28, 2025 non-certified section. I would like to request a motion to approve the October 28, 2025 non-certified section. So move. It's been moved and second. >> Okay. >> All right. I just want

to make sure you didn't have an issue. >> All right. Uh been moved. Second. Is there any discussion other than what we just had hearing? None. Mr. Steulty, will you please uh call the >> Mrs. Bartwick? >> Abs. >> Mr. Vasquez. >> Yes. >> Mr. Parker? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Griffith? >> Yes. Thank you. Section nine consists of a walk-ins. 042council bylaws. >> So move. >> Second. It's >> been moved and seconded. Any discussion? Hearing none. Mr. Steel, will you please call the vote? Mrs. Bartley? >> Yes. >> Mr. Mr. Parker? >> Yes. Section 11 of the agenda consists of early childhood education reports and minutes from this month's committee meetings and are provided for your information and reference. No actions required so we can proceed section 12 the ECE walk-ins. Uh are there any early childhood education walkins? There are none. All right. Thank you. Having none, that takes section 13, which are uh the comments and we'll start with superintendent comments. >> Again, appreciate you uh support the next event. A few other things went on. Uh if you were able to take part in the fall festival over at natural science campus along with the

Hawkins STEM Academy, uh really had a great display on the partnership between the two locations. Uh as well as some of the things that are doing it differently. Uh so it was a great event to be at. Uh also Hawkins was recognized by the state uh as being the leaders in a STEM steam model. So they had uh I think it was about 10 different school districts come to understand the best practices uh yesterday morning over at Hawkins STEM at our steam academy and uh congratulations to all our fall graduates. uh was very proud to see one of our students regret high school across the stage and uh we're personally with him throughout the summer cuz he was homeless. Uh but he never gave up and uh he ended up crossing that gate and uh

so to see him graduate bring great pride east side pride. So congratulations to all our graduates now more proud. Thank you. >> Thank you. Um Mr. Sty, do you have any comments? Um just a couple uh we will send out a packet when it gets closer to the capital conference that'll have all the information and that you have that and I just want to assure you that we are watching the multiple bills that are going through various side issues. >> Thank you. Uh I'll start with comments with Bishop Hart. >> Uh no further comments. Thank you Mr. President. Miss Ger, >> Mr. President, no comments. Mr. Robert, of >> course. So, Mr. I do have a question around Head Start. Do we need to be mindful of dollars that are coming in from the federal

government around Head Start? >> Yes, we are special in terms. >> So, you'll keep the board in then. Yes, I I think that's kind of a big thing. >> Agreed. It just keeps changing quite often. We'll keep you up to date, >> right? Um and I don't want to end on a sour note. So, I was able to attend the start Woodward football game. Um and it well, it was heartbreaking for Woodward. It's just heartbreaking. Um they were so close on so many plays. Um but Stark was victorious. So, congratulations to Stark Spartans and I believe they made it else. >> Yeah. So, that's all. >> Thank you. Um, I'm going to end my comments with uh I was able to beat the fall credit program and it is one of my favorites uh consist

of our students who were persistent and stuck with it and u show their their character by by doing so. Also, I want to expand a little bit on what was already talked about as far as uh the uh legislative bills that are going forward. We are working with and have written a conversation with our lobbyist. We just happened this week about there's a number of bills and they keep changing amendments and so Mr. respect Schulty is spearheading the contact we have with our lobbyist. Um I also want to follow up with one other thing too and that is um was a good point brought my fellow board members about our federal money and not just uh the head start but but all federal money we do have from other sources. Um my followup is uh

Mr. Stulty and uh Dr. variant. Uh [clears throat] give me a little bit uh more substance on how how you keep the boards informed because it keeps changing. uh almost uh how how have you thought about that communication vehicle I'm going to have to to do that >> as it changes email you a call then we also have our established committees through the BP president >> okay um all right and I guess this talk want to be very mindful that it is very difficult uh for us between board meetings to have communications because we're mindful of the sunshine law. Um but those communications then require you to have almost oneonone with each board and to take the time to do that or to put it out in an email. So, I guess what I'm requesting

is update by email about anything even if it's just like um uh to bring our bring us to the attention to us of of a sentence or something that you think is significantly changed. And I think that what happens when we have that discussion, you're a little afraid. We're all a little afraid to say uh something about it because if you don't say the whole context, then you think that you're not doing justice to it. But I think that we're at a point where things are moving so fast, I would appreciate even just a small nuance, something changed, a number, percentage, something like that. then you would not be required to s to recite the whole um uh legislation or amendment but just give us you know things changed and just say in the email

this is what we're uh bringing your attention to >> Mr. On that topic, >> man, >> I I did want to mention that we have started to get some um >> summary emails from the lobbyists and I find that helpful and since we're paying them to keep minute-to- minute perhaps we the mechanism might be that they uh distill it and communicate it to us so that we're not necessarily expecting our staff to do daily updates. I'm sure they're on at every minute. I don't know how often they are communicating with you, but what if we just all were in the same communication loop and we wouldn't have to um ask you to do additional summaries. I don't know if that's helpful or not because I don't know how much you're getting from them. We really

do want it all or not. >> Yeah, we started off having weekly meetings with them and then now we're every two weeks. But, uh I think it's a good suggestion. Why don't we just have them send the email so whatever you get they send it to you for involves or they send it to us directly it doesn't matter we agree and we encourage the lobby as well as even the other lobby so in other words how we have some that we should add on just as much as our own internal lobby so you get to see the different degrees of how interpretations happen across the state from our own people as well as the point that we Thank you. >> Uh if there are no other comments then uh I would ask for a motion

to adjurnn. >> So move. >> Second. It's been moved and seconded. Any discussion? Hearing none. Mr. Steel, could you please call the role? >> Mrs. Farwood. >> Yes. >> Mr. Rescue. >> Yes. >> Mr. Parker. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Griff. >> Yes. Making a jerk.
