Thank you again. >> Like Mrs. Crawford said, I want to congratulate all of our fall sports participants, bands, cheerleaders. We I mean, we were well represented in regional competition, so it was really awesome. Sam and Giana and Marissa ran down in Columbus. I was fortunate to go down there and see them run. So, we really did. Our kids were outstanding this fall. So, >> I think placed number 12 out of 215. >> Wow. Yeah, that was >> and Giana was 65 and I mean Giana was 75th and Marissa was 65th out of that big. >> So, our kids really did a great job of performing this year. Thank you. This fall both in
and out of the classroom. Um, and congratulations to our our orchestra and band students from Twinsburg High School for their outstanding performance in the Northeast Regional Orchestra at Balin Wallace. The Northeast Regional is composed of the top high school musicians in Northeast Ohio and Kaden and Nicholas will move on and perform for the All State orchestra and Armen will perform with the All State band. So, kids are just doing an outstanding job performing again both in and out of the classroom. Um, just a couple other things. I'd like to again let our families know that January 1st we have a new personal communication device policy. You know, there's a new law now that says basically cell phones are not to be used during the instructional day and that that policy takes effect January 1st. still
working on some of the logistics, you know, in terms of where we're putting them and things of that nature, but you know, the law is the law and the intent of the law is to try to have our students focus on their school and academics. So, um, again, that's January 1st of 2026, that cell phone policy does take effect. Um, as Mrs. Crawford said, Finding Leaders is conducting the superintendent search. There's a couple focus group meetings on the 12th. And if you have any questions, that information is on our website or don't hesitate to call me. And um last but certainly not least, we have on the agenda tonight, we have two retirements, Mrs. Robbins, who is a school psychologist, and Mrs. Turner, who is a principal of Wilcox. Um, I know I've been I
apologize for not recognizing those that have maybe retired earlier in the year, but they have uh donated and dedicated a lot of time and effort to our school district, and I just want to commend them and and wish them the best of luck on their retirement. So, >> that completes my report. >> Thank you. >> Any committee reports? >> Um, all right. I'll turn it back over to you. >> Thanks. I'd like to uh bring to the board a proposal to approve a two-year calendar. Typically, we've done one-year calendars. I think um you know, talking to some of our staff and and people in our district, we'd like to propose a a two-year calendar. Kind of gives parents an opportunity to plan in the future. Um so, I'm going to pull those up, but tonight
I'd like to highlight just a few of the important items on these calendars. I'll start with 2627. As you see, students will begin and this information is on our website and we we want to encourage parents to provide feedback. There's a link there you can provide feedback. We did have uh conversations with our labor management TA labor management. So, we talked about the calendar. You know, there are only so many days in the year, right? So, we're trying to to um do what's best for kids and offer, you know, families opportunities to, you know, go on vacations and things of that nature. So up there on the screen first is we're going to talk about a 2 26 27 calendar. As you will see, our students are starting on Monday the uh August 17th. And
this proposal has soft opening days like we've had in in the past. We're talking a little bit about those because some people don't think we need all three. So we might, you know, Wilcox, as just an example, might have two days of soft soft opening and Dodge might have three days, but we're still working on those. But Monday the 17th is our is our first soft opening day. And this proposal here 2627 includes a uh fall break over Thanksgiving that is a week long. This year we didn't have that. Last year I believe we did but this this calendar here in 2627 and actually 2728 has a week long fall break over Thanksgiving. Also 2627, we do have a two-eek winter break. And in addition, there will be a week-long spring break during the last
full week of March with students ending on school May 27th, which is before Memorial Day. And you can see that there. You can see the the holiday breaks. And again, our students will end on the 27th before the Memorial Day holiday. And again, this information is on our website. We welcome feedback. We actually sent out uh two options for 2627 to our staff and two op options for 2728. And overwhelmingly, these two options were selected by our staff. And we had comments as well. The 2728 calendar, thank you, Mrs. Farthing, is very similar to 2627 with the students beginning on Monday, August 16th. You could see that in yellow there. the teachers will be the the two days before that. And then there is also a week-long break over the Thanksgiving holiday and then a
two week full break at winter break. And again, this proposal also includes spring break, which is the last full week of March. This year it's the not it's not the last full week of March, but last year I believe it was, but a lot of districts choose that last full week of March, and I know Kent State and Akran typically choose that as well. So, we're trying to be consistent. Might not be consistent with all the districts around, but we're trying to be consistent in terms of >> because we got feedback >> with that from other >> teachers and parents who um are consistent with >> the last full week in March. >> Yes. >> Yeah. And I heard that too. >> So, this the both of these calendars do have that. It makes for
a long April and May. Um but but we think this is best for our kids, our students. questions on any of that. Again, the students are out before Memorial Day, but the staff comes back one day after, but they are out before the end of May. >> It's nice. >> Yeah, very nice. >> That's good. >> Yep. >> I like it. Like it >> this calendar will be on our website for the next 30 days and then the hope would be to bring it to the December 10th board of education meeting for approval. >> Okay. Other questions on that? >> Thank you very much. We appreciate two um two years >> two years for planning purposes families. So >> I would recommend even though next year we kind of go out the second year then
so people can plan. >> Very nice. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Thank the teams for um working with you to do that too. That's that's nice. Very good. >> I work with them. >> They work they didn't [laughter] No, but thank you. I don't mean anything yet. >> We try to work with teams. >> Yes, I will do that. >> Then that concludes my report. >> Thank you. >> Do we have any questions? >> All right. I have the mic. All right.
