because we have had probably the most exciting few months at West Yog High School. I am telling you what, they have kept me on the edge of my seat um academically, athletically. Uh it has been really something special. And I'm looking at all these faces that I have had the joy of watching compete representing West Giaga and just the most great spirit um of this community. And I'm I'm just so proud of these kids. I'm so psyched for what you get to see today. So, with that, I will hand it over to Ryan Patty, principal. >> All right. Well, thank you all very much. Um, so since the high school is so incredible, um, we're going to we're going to take some of your time for the next two board meetings, this one and the

next one, we're going to spread out the love so you get us all over the place. Uh so to start off, we have tonight we have some student accomplishments, we have academic accomplishments, we have athletic accomplishments, and then we have a cool um program we're doing of blending classrooms at the high school to showcase some some innovative stuff that we're using with the technology. Um in due time, I'm going to start off with Brandon Stewart for athletics real quick. >> There you go. We're sweping switching up our order because some of our students have to go and be celebrated other places as well. [laughter] >> Are we just doing one or Okay, gotcha. All right, Ava and Casey, can you guys come on up here, please? All right, so we'll start out here with um

Ava Cavelli, one of our gymnasts. You can come on this side over here >> so everybody can see you. They have their banquet tonight, so they're on their way out of here and um headed off to to celebrate the rest of the season with the rest of their team tonight. So, uh Ava is a senior here at Westg. She represented uh WestG at the state gymnastics championship on March 8th. Uh that was down in Columbus. She qualified in two events, the uneven bars and in the all-around. She finished with a uh an 8.3 score in the bars that tied her for 25th in the state. And then the all-around her score was 35.45, 45, which tied her for 16th in the state. Uh some of her other season highlights this year included the winning the

high school challenge in session one against 16 schools and 112 different competitors. Uh that was down at Cleveland Public Hall uh back in January, which was a really cool venue for those of you who have never been there. Uh but um just a great setting uh that they do down there. Um and for those of you that don't know, we don't house gymnastics at the high school. actually compete in in Menor at all around where where Casey's at and she also coaches a couple other schools. So, not only are they competing and practicing multiple times per week, uh they're traveling over to Menor to do it as well as traveling to all these other tournaments. So, it's a a huge time commitment uh by them and and all around does a great job housing them

there along with the other schools um and and has done a great job for us the last the last couple years uh with with doing that as well. So, we just want to congratulate Ava on on her season and and representing WestG in the way that she did at the the state level. So, congratulations, AVA. [applause] >> And then Sarah will picture. Yeah. >> Yep. Perfect. Right here. [clears throat] I feel silly. Congratulations. [applause] >> Perfect. And next up, if Nora Joyce is Where is my Nora? >> Where is There's my twin and freckles. Nora Joyce um has earned her Eagle Scout um recognition. So, I just wanted to to recognize her hard work. Um but her service project actually was a project that gave back to WestG schools. And so, I I really wanted

the board to have an opportunity to recognize Nora and to thank her um for her project. And so, Nora, do you want to tell us about your project? >> Sure. Sorry, I lost my voice. >> [laughter] >> you just found it. >> Um, so for my Eagle project, I built two identical shelving units that um are in the band room at the middle school. Um, >> they're there for storage, right? For extra storage. So Nora identified the issue, um, developed the solution, developed the layout, was the project manager, Am I missing anything? >> No. >> And then built them alongside Is that your dad? >> My My dad and my sister and Caroline Jagger. >> Great. >> Can we hire you for the Well Project? [laughter] >> She'll probably be running the Well Project one

day. But um I just wanted to let you know that uh an Eagle Scout is the highest honor of scouts. She's earned 21 badges along the way. Um fulfilled a service project. um obviously has to hold a leadership position within the troop. And then uh Dr. Amy Davis and I were so pleased to represent West Giaga schools at her court of honor ceremony in January. So it was if you haven't been to one, it's it's very it's something. It's really amazing. So congratulations for our work. >> Quite an accomplishment. [applause] There you go. [clears throat] >> 193 novelty. Okay. >> Congratulations. All right. Now, we're going to jump back into athletics. There we go. >> All right. Swimmers and coaches that are here, come on up, please. All right. So, our swimmers this season, um,

we had 10 swimmers that represented, uh, WestG at the district swim meet that was held back in February, uh, down at Cleveland State. Um, also at the CBC tournament that was also held at Cleveland State. uh Vera Codell, she earned first place in the CBC's in the 500 freestyle um which was a huge accomplishment going into to that event and then also qualified her for districts as well going forward. Uh Mason Tawi, he broke and then rebroke the school record in the 500 freestyle. Uh, and maybe one of the most impressive stats of the entire season was that eight minutes and 56 seconds of dropped time by the by the team throughout the course of the the season. We also had the the girls 200 medley relay qualify along with the 200 free relay and

the 400 free. And on the boys side, the 200 medley relay and the 400 uh free relay qualified as well for districts that included in those those 10 swimmers um all participating in in multiple events. Uh and down at the end, our head coach Kyle Johnson. He coaches both the the boys and the girls. Uh he was voted uh by the other CVC coaches as the CBC Shagrin division girls coach of the year as well. Uh which was the first time that we've had that in in quite some time. And I'm not sure if you guys, you know, we said the high school is great and we we know that, but I'm not sure if you guys have noticed there's not a swimming pool at the high school yet. So, these guys and girls are

[laughter] um these guys and girls are going uh every night um over to Beachwood. Um they're not exactly getting the most ideal practice times. Usually, it's sometime in the evening starting 7 8:00 uh going till 9:00. Uh they're there every night uh practicing. It's not easy. It's not an easy schedule to to maintain at all. Um and the commitment that they show and the commitment that the coaches show uh along with Kyle and and Sandy Culp um this year have done an amazing job with that. Um I I always cringe a little bit when I see the messages come across and see the times that they're starting. And then then when I see the messages from Kyle that say like dry land practice when they're going to be in and out of the pool, uh

just seeing how hard they work and and again being able to put that commitment going forward is a huge accomplishment for them. And I think the program right now is at 33ish total kids coming into or after this year. Somewhere in that range. >> Somewhere in there. Yeah. So, [laughter] uh, it continues to grow and and and they've done a great job this season. So, just want to say congratulations to them. >> AWESOME. [applause] [applause] >> While they're taking pictures, wrestlers and coaches, you guys can make your way up here. coaches. Yeah, you guys can come too. >> Okay. Yeah, I think perfect. [clears throat] >> [clears throat] >> All right, so these guys are fresh off the state championships that just finished up literally less than 24 hours ago down in Columbus. Um, and

if you've never been down there before, it is one of the the coolest scenes at the Shot and Scene Center. There's 10 mats set up. Uh there's probably about anywhere between 15 and 20,000 people that are there watching high school wrestling over the course of of three days. Um and these four that you see plus Austin who's sick tonight u represented WestG unbelievably on a on the biggest stage uh that you could possibly have in in high school wrestling. Um and and not only their individual accomplishments, which we'll get into here in a second, but the the team this year uh they competed at the state dual tournament uh for the first time. Uh they finished sixth in the state. Uh they were the sectional champions for the th uh third consecutive year. They were

the district runnerup. They had the most state qualifiers uh in our district. Even as the district runner up, they sent five uh state qualifiers to to districts. And for the first time, we were the outright CBC champion. So we're divided up into divisions within the conference, but then there's the outright point total. We were the outright champion as well as our our division champion as well. Coach Jolton down at the end was was voted as the CBC coach of the year. Um, and that was a a a testament to his his work and then also to the entire coaching staff. Um, and I would be remiss not to say also to the the wrestling moms who [laughter] they can stand up here and coach and do all the wrestling stuff, but the the wrestling moms,

they they truly run the show. And I' I've figured out really early that it's easier just to say they're right and go with whatever they say and stay out of the way. Um things just run smoother at that point. So um so looking at some of the individual accomplishments that they had this year. So Brian Denimman first. Uh Brian was a uh two-time state placer. He finished six last year, finished sixth again this year. a three-time state qualifier, a four-time sectional champion, a three-time CVC champion, a district champion, and the most career wins in West Giaga history. He finished up with 176 wins and 32 losses. Um, YEAH. [applause] [laughter] [gasps] UM, next up, Xander Jolton. Uh Xander is a two-time state qualifier. He placed sixth last year at the state championships. He's a fourtime

uh CBC champion, which is the first time in school history that that has happened. He was also the CBC wrestler of the year this year, a two-time sectional champion. Uh he had the second most wins in West Yaga history at 171 wins and 31 losses. And he tied the most wins in a single season here at Westg with 53. And if you want to see him continue to wrestle, you won't have to go very far. He'll be right up the road in Paynesville next year at Lake Erie College where he'll continue his wrestling and academic career at the collegiate level. Uh so congratulations to Andrew [applause] Gayen Khalil. He was a third place finisher yesterday u and had I think we should have you demonstrate the celebration that I saw on Twitter. We we won't

though. Um, but a a two-time state qualifier, a CBC champion, a two-time sectional champion, a district champion, uh, third on the all-time win list, 169 wins, 32 losses, and also tied the record for most wins in a single season with 53. [applause] Austin Wheatly, who's not here tonight, was a first time state qualifier this year, a sectional champion, and he finished with a 4 wins and 39 losses in his career. So, congratulations, Austin. Hope you're feeling better. [applause] And Blake Welker. Blake was a state qualifier this year, a sectional champion, a CBC champion, and his career record 117 wins and 34 losses. So, add those all together. That's a lot of wins and and not many losses between this group up here. So, congratulations, Blake. [applause] And you know the thing about wrestling is especially

for the underassman like their season doesn't ever technically end. Like they'll probably start practicing again if they didn't already today like tomorrow. I think Joe may have given them like a day off. But uh they will they'll start right back up again. There's a bright future for this program coming up and I have a feeling we'll have more uh standing up here next year around this time that we'll be representing as well. So congratulations guys. [applause] Should we invite the wrestling moms to drink, too? >> No. >> Stephanie, >> come on. Get up here. Get the picture. Come on. We're not getting any younger here now. >> Yeah. >> [applause] >> We're going to round out the high school now with a little academics. So, I'm going to have Sarah Salbury and Alan Duncan come

on up here. [clears throat] >> Come on up. Come on up. Come on, guys. [snorts] >> Um, it had stuff on it. That's fine. >> [laughter] >> I'll let you do the talking. >> All right. So, what we have up here is a collaboration between Alan Duncan STEM classes and Sarah Salter's classes. So, I'm going to let Alan talk a little bit and Sarah talk about the collaboration they've been doing this year with their two classes. >> So, Alan and I started collaborating a few years ago. Um he has a lot of really fantastic STEM equipment in his classroom and I have started using his classes for a lot of inclusion classes for my students. They love hands-on, they love science. Um so it's been a really positive experience. And then years ago, Alan was

like, "Well, why don't you just bring your whole class down for some fun things like all the time?" And so we just started doing random things together. And so throughout the years we started doing different activities. And so this year he approached me and said, "We're starting this virtual reality project. Do you want in?" And I basically every time he comes to me say, "Yeah, I want in whatever you guys are doing." So do you want to explain kind of how we started or? >> Yeah, sure. So, I'm really going to turn it over to the students because they're very proud of what they've done and and I don't want to rain on their parade too much, but the class is called technological design and it's year two of our STEM or our uh engineering

kind of course depending on how you want to look at it and we investigate technology and VR is one of such of those technologies. So, I'm going to pause there, turn it over to our students and and kind of let you explain and give you a demonstration as well. All right. So, I'm Christian and I'm one of the students in Duncan's engineering class. Um, so we made a or the entire project was to create kind of like childhood stories in VR. Uh, and you could experience them on the Oculus with the headset controllers. Um, we did Rapunzel, Spongebob, Little Red Riding Hood, and the Tours in the Air. Um, >> but to interrupt for one second too, you guys came to our room first, right? So, how did you come up with that idea? >>

So, uh, we all took a little class trip down to the other classroom and we all kind of like brainstormed fun little stories that we could use. Um we had a whole list of like 20 to 30 uh stories that we could have used and um yeah and then we just uh pick and choose what we wanted to use. Um >> yeah, so we have two demonstrations that I'd like to show you. Uh the first one is going to be our rendition of Rapunzel. So I'll let you guys >> uh hi I'm Park Wilson. So I was the one who uh designed this Rapunzel story. And one quick thing I'll share about. So the program we use is called Delightex. Um, and basically, you know, it's got all this 3D modeling software within it already,

but there's also a huge coding aspect in it, too. And I am in an AP computer science class, so I thought that, you know, the programming aspect of it wouldn't be too bad, but it actually is surprisingly, you know, there's so many like bits and pieces to use. There's a lot of like it's block coding, so there's so many different things you can use to make all the stuff. So you have to be very creative with how you move stuff around and like get certain objects to talk and get them to move around. So there's just a lot that went into it. Um so it's a lot of time and a lot of effort and even though you know it might look a little goofy, there's so much that time and effort and weeks and

weeks that went into it. So I think Jesse's going to play Rapunzel now. So >> and you guys can see what she's doing if you want to look at the screen. We had to cut the audio because the way it works it creates almost like a feedback loop. So there is music that some of you might be able to hear. And the great thing also is so they came down to my room and we brainstormed and that was really fun because they were like reminiscing about things they had read when they were younger and TV shows that they had watched together. And so that was really fun. And then throughout the month that they Mr. Duncan's class was working on it, the students and Mr. Dun were constantly asking like, "Is this too scary? Is

this too easy? Is this too hard?" So there was this element of like making sure it was accessible for all students and and all all people. So that was a really connecting aspect of it also is they wanted to make sure that it was something that they all students could play and have access to because they really wanted my group to be able to play it independently. So like you'll see that Jesse and anyone could pick this up and really be able to use it without anybody doing it for them which I thought was so important. So, this is the title screen that they created. What you may or may not have seen was Rapunzel. We learned that uh Rapunzel is a type of lettuce. And in the story, Rapunzel's mother uh wanted some lettuce.

Rapunzel and the wicked witch caught her and took the baby Rapunzel consequence. I can. >> So, Parker, did you have to remind yourself of Rapunzel story as you were creating it? >> Yeah, I had to look stuff up, but I did my best attempt ating it into a VR >> too long. >> Right. >> So, you guys created the whole world itself. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Right. So, that's a lot. That's >> going from nothing to creating a whole virtual reality world. And then we also wanted to show you uh a different one. So the next one that we're going to bring up is Spongebob Squarepants. Uh that was another fan favorite and we've um volunteer [laughter] to cover. >> [laughter] [snorts] >> Yeah. So, you're point >> So, my name is Tom. I'm

the designed the Spongebob program and the start interactive Spongebob episode taking inspiration from the first episode of the show where Spongebob gets employed as a crusty crab. So, the first thing I did was, you can see it there sometimes, but I brought like full intro video and it has like audio and stuff and such, but um eventually go to the next scene. Um, you start off house and the light you have like a set library you can choose from. There's like a generic set like a generic library of objects but there's nothing related built in. So I ended up sourcing a bunch of models from some old Sponge and I attempt some [laughter] What I ended up doing was I brought those models in Blender and I converted Blender. It's like a 3D modeling software

[cough and clears throat] that plays nicely with the lightex. So [laughter] >> on your left hand there's a walk around. And if you go to that door and click on it upstairs, you can grab his pants [laughter] and head back downstairs. [laughter] >> I was able to get the models into a format that worked with them. Um, sometimes the collision from the game models didn't play nicely. So I had to go in and use manually edit collision make sure and that was kind of gist of how I brought all this like stuff from the actual games and the show world behind you. SP continuous on the VR. No one's seen the VR. It's just the display keeps clicking off and on. >> Oh, you guys see the display? >> It it just it kind of

[laughter] >> you [laughter] can see. [laughter] Awesome job, guys. girls. [applause] [applause] >> It seems like Al's trying to get people in his class for next year, too. I'm just saying. Perfect. Yacht squeeze everybody in a little bit more. birthday. [applause] >> Great job. >> That was fun. >> Great job. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to sign up for a class. All right. So, that was this one. The next one I got even more. So, you can be you can anticipate the fun. There may be a math presentation. There may be some art awards. Maybe a whole singing and dancing thing. I don't know. You'll wait. You'll see. [laughter] >> I think um so obviously the high school um [clears throat] there's lots to brag about and our kids are amazing kids. I think what

blows me away is to watch our kids in the classroom academically with what they're working on. I mean, again, I think it's hilarious Colin's talking and I'm like, I'm understand like every fourth word Colin is saying. I'm like, "Oh, yes. I see how you did that indeed." Um, so it's fun to see the academics alongside athletics and what a great uh winter season you have all given us and we are so proud of them. So, thank you very much and I'm glad that uh they can show their talents and their achievements to our board. Thanks. [applause] >> Okay, now I'll have public remarks. Huh? Yeah. The rest of you, if you don't want to stay, you don't have to. Now's a good time to transition. If you want, you're more than welcome to stay. It's

okay. You want to sign? She doesn't need to, right? I got it. Yeah. Citizenship in the community or something. >> Yeah. Yeah. I don't >> Did you want to make a public remark? I don't have you. What's your name? >> Mike and you say your address. >> Yeah, just say your name and address and you have three minutes. >> Three minutes. [laughter] >> Well, this is good news. It's nothing planned at all. Yeah, >> it probably doesn't happen much. Um, >> we have six minutes. >> I'm Mike Olsson, 11705 Legend Creek Drive in Chesterland. I'm a parent of two high schoolers, one of whom presented today. And since I was here, I thought I'd get a a twofer and might as well say something. So, a few years ago, I came to Mr. Duncan and

Mr. Patty and said that I had the opportunity um to start a robotics competition club at the high school and bring in thousands of dollars from the company that I work for, Rockwell Automation to start this. Um and we have the last two years we've competed at four different events uh throughout these two years and I have nothing but good things to say about Mr. Duncan. Um he's put in so much time, evenings, weekends, um hundreds of hours of volunteer time and unfortunately it's not yet supplemental for him. So this is all on his own free will. So I I will put it in a plug that I hope we can get that on the agenda for next year so that me and Mr. Spots who also donate a lot of time um can get

reward for it. But you have a gem and and him and that curriculum and we've done a great job with the club and I hope that we can continue that forward and be well supported um both with using the money that we brought in um and with our time. So thank you. >> Thank you. and Mike, we are certainly grateful for your contribution now that how grateful we are because we know you've worked hard for that for us and we appreciate it. We see Rockwell donations all the time. So, very nice. [laughter] >> Okay. Then then we have Michael Kilroy. >> You know Michael address 9465 Marsh said I shall return. So I was going through some stuff cuz yes we were part of Quantis or I am and we had the uh the power

outage. We have been talking generators since April 30th and in January of 2009. So I brought copies of those minutes for the board to at least have where highlighted the high school needs to have something done. At that time we were the safety zone for uh the Perry nuclear power but because the board did not approve of generators it went to to Notre Dame. There are estimates that are out there that from way back when but this this has been something that's should have been going on again since 2008. I'll give them to uh Karen. She can put them in minutes. Um we're not not suggesting a generator to redo the whole high school at any point. portable generator, probably some wiring because of old wiring to be able to support the kitchen so that

when we have another natural disaster, we had a power outage in 23. We at Kuana see a lot because in March, it seems to me there's an awful lot of volatile weather. The the winter is ending and the spring is starting all over the country. We had a summer tornado. This is where we're supposed or could go to in order to serve the community. Whether it's toilets to flush, we now have a generator that does that. We got that later on uh with a change in the board. We had some new generators come in. Um but this is something where the school can do something for the community instead of always asking for the community to do something for the board. It's time to do something for the community. And if you get a generator,

figure it out to do the kitchen. We can make coffees. We had people coming from uh Summit, from Garfield, from all over. Are you guys serving breakfast? We have no power. No. There's nothing we can do. We also learned that you're probably not as high up on the list as you think you are because when you look at the the CDI, the first energy uh chart, little blue dots. The school's blue dot was for 20 and under. >> I don't know if you know that. So, you're very late on the list of getting stuff done. I don't know who who who who's responsible for trying to update that, but they should get on on to it effective uh yesterday because that needs to change. You should be 20,000 because you would be serving meals for

people that don't have power. We could do a spaghetti dinner like that with the various groups that do things. But this has been out for a long, long time. I will give the uh proper correspondence to Karen and uh there's copies for the rest of the board. Again, it's not something that's new and and just recently thought about. It's been out there forever. Thank you for your time. >> All right. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Um uh Katie Davis. >> She didn't even have to sign in. She could. [laughter] >> We're flexible tonight. >> I know. Hi, Katie Davis. 9559 Winchester Valley. Um, thanks Mr. Killery. He gave an extremely large donation to the Lindsay Drama Club or PTO extension, whatever it's called, for the nursery crimes play that we just had. Um,

and I like what he just said about trying to get this school open as a warming center for when these storms hit us and we're out of power. Um, I think all residents fund these buildings. So, it would be nice to give give back to them. It could repair some of the community relations that in certain sectors that need to be repaired. Um, and inviting residents into the schools as much as possible would be great. along those lines, like if you could have open gym hours for um like the community to come in, shoot basketball, invite them to use the workout rooms, etc. I think that would go far. I know the gyms are usually busy, but there's got to be some times when they're not used, you know, could put something out. Um like

especially snow days, that would be great if we could bring the kids up if it's especially one for cold and let them in the gym. Um, okay. Anyways, I brought you program, a copy of the program from the nursery crimes play and a couple cast photos. Um, there were over over 75 students and that were in the play and then, oh my gosh, countless helpers behind the scenes and in the stage crew. Um, I think it was nice this year we were able to get the program printed at a local business in Newberry, which is um, new for us. And so I think that that anytime we can do that to reach out to Newberry and get them more aware of what's happening in the schools, uh that would repair some relationships there. Um it

was a great show and we had a lot of press coverage. I don't know if you saw I think it was in at least four papers that I saw. Um and I thought maybe because this was such a special play being written by u Mr. Rich and his wife that if you guys could get one of those framed and gift to him, maybe honor him at a board meeting like you do with these sports people, get a couple kids to come sing a song or something, it would be really cute. Um, okay. And then also, I was here to see if you guys were going to talk about the grant update for the performing arts center that I asked about at the last month. Um, because I didn't see it on the agenda, but I'll

see if you could talk about it. I can stay until 7:45. Thank you. Well, Katie, you stole a lot of my thunder in terms of talking about ner. Thank you so much. I'm so glad. Oh, I will talk about it like crazy. Um, >> in the superintendent report, I'll talk about it, but I don't know if you were able to go. I'm so glad to have the paper copy. I had to ask Katie to send me the PDF because I was so interested after seeing it. I was like, I wanted to see all the kids. I think we had over a hundred of our students participate um with the high school students and the elementary students combined. It was something else. I mean it was amazing. So so much so many of us had to

go Thursday as to not take a seat [laughter] from family and friends that wanted to see the production. But it was amazing and the talent of our kids and Dan and Deanna. I've thanked them and I think we might just convince them to give us a little a little uh taste of it next month is the hope. So, we're hoping to see them here, but I'll I'll pass this down so you guys can see it as we're talking. But, it was very very well done and I'm hoping that the board can have a little taste if they weren't able to see it in person. I know that some saw it in person. So, yeah. Great. >> It was fantastic. Thank you for all the work that you put in for it. I can't imagine the

work and that's gone on over the years, but but for this original production, um it was really it was really fantastic. So many people about >> Yeah. include so many kids like you didn't just have a couple superstars, >> you know, there's like roles for everybody. I thought that was fantastic for an elementary age. They do a great job >> that everybody got to do something who wanted to do something. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. Thanks, Kitty. >> Uh we'll get back to you on that performing arts center. We have had we did some research right >> into that and I don't know if at later during the board updates if you want to or now if you want to >> I know she only has till 7:45. >> Yeah. No, I think one of

the things that we looked at it's a bianium budget. It's in the capital budget. That's and they do that now. So the state determines that in March and April now. So we were kind of too late to do that. One of the other things that we wanted to do was work with the board and the strategic planning is to determine kind of what they would want in a performing arts center and how it would fit in with the overall facility planning. and that's coming up uh in April that you are having some of those discussions. So the uh capital that they work on these grants they set it up when they did like the um Brown stadium that was part of one of the things that they set up was this funding and that's going

to be every two years that they do the capital budget. So it's kind of off the operating budget. So that's unfortunately right now. So I think that'll give us time to look at that going forward. >> Right. I think plus there were some requirements that we didn't meet. um >> we had to fill down a third of the cost. >> We had to have it >> when we went to them. >> Yeah. >> We couldn't u be raising it or we had to have it in hand. So it's something to definitely watch. >> Yeah. I think get ahead of and you know what I mean like in terms of timing by like six months probably >> at least. >> Yeah. Um >> because you have to have plans in place and they you have to

submit the plans architectural plans as well >> um and how you're going to fund it. So those are things that we in the just because of the time you can't do that this time. >> Yeah. >> Worth looking into. >> Perfect. Thanks. >> Okay. >> I guess is me. >> No me. >> Yes. All right. Resolution 75 to approve routine matters of the Westiaga Local Board of Education. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? Call the role, please. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Levworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Bears, >> yes. >> Resolution 76 to approve warrants for February 2026. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> I did have one question about the payment to uh Osborne. Is that part

of our >> That's the contract. Mhm. >> That's part of the contract, the overall contract that we have. So, there'll be a little bit left as we look at the operating um >> representative, the owners rep, then that'll still be in there. So, we paid for a good portion of that. >> All right. Thanks. Call the role, please. >> Miss Leworth? >> Yes. >> Miss Naylor? >> Yes. >> Mr. Vidmar? >> Yes. >> Dr. Beers? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Clay? >> Yes. Resolution 77 to approve the fund to fund transfer for fiscal year 2026 from the general fund to the athletic fund. >> Could I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Yeah. Karen, so can you tell me uh tell I know we talked a little bit about this

in the finance committee. Can you tell me a little bit about this? >> As we're looking at the uh athletic fund, there's a number of expenditures that have come through in the athletic fund that we have not um raised our pay to participate fees. We've had those since I don't know how long we've had those, but since I've been here, so 11 12 years. Um, but the we've added some expenditures. One of the biggest one is the cost of the referees and umpires has increased substantially. Um, they had a new contract which allowed them a pay raise because they hadn't had one in so many years. In addition to it, we do purchase facilities for the gymnastics. We do purchase facilities for the swimming pool. So, those are two additional costs that we had. And

then this year we had an additional cost of u reconditioning of some of our helmets along with our shoulder pads and all that. So that was $11,000. So some of these are just getting us through that. Um and and we've changed locations for our um football games. They're not as local. So we don't get as big a gates as before. We used to play Kinston and Shardan and Shroom. They were all local. So we had much bigger gates. So we're seeing a decline in those gate sales as well. So, it's kind of put a stress on the athletic fund. So, the only thing coming out of the athletic fund are really officials, the um workers that are at the gate and then supplies and there's a number of increases in dues and me, you know,

that we have to pay or participating in tournaments and things like that. So, all of the um coaches salaries and supplementals are paid out of the general fund already. So, we're seeing a shift. We're just not able to cover those costs anymore. So, we're going to be uh looking at how we can manage some of those costs and then a transfer from the general fund. >> Thank you. >> Any other discussion? >> Call the RO, please. >> Miss Taylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Levworth, >> yes. >> Resolution 78 to accept donations from Rockwell Automation and WGF. >> Second. >> Any discussion? Call the role, please. >> Mr. Bedmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clay, >> yes.

>> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Resolution 79 to accept the increases in the 2026 appropriations for the following list. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the RO, please. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Levart, >> yes. Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Resolution 80 to approve amendments to the student activity statement of purpose and budget for the 2025 2026 school year. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Um I I just was um wondering the that this is just like a transaction, but are are all these organizations doing well otherwise? because you just have that one that one snapshot of an in and out, >> right? So these are amendments. So they at the

beginning of the year they put in a full budget >> and then talk about what what activities they're going to be doing, fundraising activities and what they're going to be spending their money on. So at this for these three they're just have additional wish list. So they had just a couple of items that they wanted to um participate in. One was a nursing home visit that they wanted to do for Interact Club. So it's a kind of an add-on. So, it's the sales and the [clears throat] the purchases, but they they're not necessarily connected. >> Well, usually there's a fundraiser of some type and then how they will spend that money then sometimes, you know, there's I think they made like $40 or something like was left over. So, most of those like the interact

club, >> they're bringing in that money and spending it right then as well. >> So, if one is over or whatever, they still have >> they have some money left over. Yeah. So the 200s, these are student activity funds and they usually they have to be self- sustaining. >> So they're not like a 300 you like us athletics, but these the 200s have to be self- sustaining. >> Yeah. And I see they're already signed off by the advisor and the principal and you. So I >> as soon as they come over on a fundraiser, then Dr. Benasa has to approve the fundraisers so we get those taken care of. >> Thank you. Any other discussion? I >> I was just wondering if we had that many uh budding doctors in the administration because I couldn't

read hardly any of her signatures. >> Well, you know, you can't read mine. [laughter] >> She broke her leg. She can't sign well anymore. >> Mr. Patty, I won't speak for. >> I I mean, I did four years pretty bad. I thought about it, but I decided to go the route of public servant in the high school administration realm. So, you're welcome. >> So, you had the signature done. [laughter] >> Jeez. >> Look on your handwriting. [laughter] >> A product of our district. So, >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. Exactly. >> Exactly. >> We finally get them to fill it out with a fillable form, you know, to not no longer have it written out. >> Get some of them to fill it out. >> Yeah. >> So, >> any other discussion? >> Just that it's

a cafe 306. I think that's a really neat thing that we do, right? Like is this this is expanding it to sell some shirts and stuff like that? >> This is the first. So after >> like got two seconds on that or this is my first year here. It it shut down. It was something different before. >> Um >> so you know I talked to Rich and Nancy and Amy and I Karen about the ideas I wanted to have. We toured a couple of their schools that did it. I was trying to make it more of a quick stop shop within the building, but also the school could generate some fundraising revenue back into the district and back into the kids themselves. Um, so you know, it's right now this is the first year of

after my fifth year back here, so >> it took us four years to get it going. It's operational. It's selling. The kids are in there every day. Um, so we're just gonna keep roll. This is our soft launch year. >> It's all good. Yeah, it's great. >> Love it. >> Any other discussion? Call the roll, please. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Levworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Resolution 81 to approve revised course fees. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? Nancy or Karen, maybe you could explain what >> Yeah. Well, we had originally on the sheet. It's we had two things competing with one another. In the top of the sheet, we had the technology fees for elementary were

not there and then at the bottom they were there. So, we did not charge for those because we haven't figured out exactly what we want to do with the those because some of the kids, most of the K2 don't take home a computer. And then three, four, five, I think the fifth graders were taking home one. They weren't going to take home one. So, there was a decision in time to do the school fees. So, we decided not to do those at this point and then we'll look at that going into next year. The middle school and high school still charge a $25 fee because they take those computers home and they keep them for four years until they reach, you know, I think they get them fifth grade and then they take them uh

in ninth grade. I don't know if they take them home in fifth grade yet. No, they're still here, but they get assigned to them. So, >> so it pays for repairs, it pays for, you know, our internet and things like that that we're looking on those. It's just making that fee schedule match what we did. >> We didn't at the top of I just took off the last page because I didn't want it to be confusing >> to the auditors. >> Okay. >> So, >> and those have been something that the parents have been able to afford and >> yeah, we really have uh Dr. Ben & Kasa and I have really worked on the last couple of years. We kind of tackled the elementarymentaries two or three years ago and said, you know, we

want to get those down to a reasonable amount. So they're sitting at what $39 uh last year and then um last year >> for the year. >> Yeah, for the year. So it's really paying for all of your supplies. You know that supply list you used to get? No longer get that. You just go in, pay my $39 and it's you don't have to do that. >> Um then at the middle school, we really took a crack at that last year to get that down. And it really depends on what grade you're in. like sixth grade is a little higher because you get the PE uniform, you get the lock, and then when you get to seventh and eighth grade, it's much lower because once you get to the high school, you're really um a

number of fees are associated with those AP courses. You've got pay to participate for the sports. So, I mean, we really are trying to get everyone where they're have reasonable fees K through eight before they get to those um more expensive years in the high school years. >> Thanks. So, >> any other discussion? Call the RO, please. >> Miss Leworth. Yes, >> Mrs. Naylor. >> Yes, >> Mr. Bidmar. >> Yes, >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Clay. >> Yes. >> Resolution 82 to approve then and now certificates. So, >> second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the RO, please. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clay, >> yes. >> Miss Levvenworth, >> yes. >> Dr. Benosa. 061>> yes. >> Resolution 86 is a resolution to accept certified staff retirements. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> I'd just like to say >> I was going to say, >> Yeah. So Chris Frasier and S Pacifumi are um longstanding members of our staff. Um, they are extremely well thought of. I have to tell you, when their resignations came across my desk, I thought, "Wow, they must have started teaching when they were like eight years old because I couldn't believe that they could be ready for retirement." Um, but I think they're excited about the next chapter. It's certainly a loss to our students and our families and and to us who have have enjoyed working alongside them. They are um great educators and great people um and we wish them well. >> You're

here. >> Any other discussion? Call the role, please. >> Miss Lworth. >> Sadly, yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Scrapel, >> yes. >> Resolution 87 is a resolution to approve classified staff appointments for the 2526 school year. So move >> second. >> Any discussion? >> Yeah. Could I just We We always have a lot of these to just kind of to go through and we're trusting that they're filling a need and that sort of thing, but how how does how do some of these positions work out with what like are are they replacements? Are they >> Yes, at this point they are replacements. And um Kathy is Some of these are familiar faces coming back to help us. Um, so obviously Clark has

been a member of our staff and he is returning. Um, and Kathy of course has been a bus driver for us for many, many years. The proctor position in particular is one that is very difficult to fill because it's only four hours. it's in the middle of the day and um we're finding that I think what was maybe once traditionally um in a beatable position for moms if they're staying home, it's harder to find people to fill that position um today. And so we it really is difficult when you find somebody willing to proctor for a few hours for those lunch recess periods. Um it's like yay. So Kathy's helping us. Um she's a wonderful person and always is willing to help us out and I think so. Yes. Is there a need? Certainly there

is. And in some cases this is like a public service. [laughter] >> Yeah. So we're grateful. >> That would kind of apply to to all of them. >> Yes. Well, these various >> Yes. >> appointments. Okay. Thank you. >> Yes. >> Any other discussion? >> Call the role, please. Miss Naylor. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Resolution 88 is a resolution to approve classified long-term substitute assignment. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the RO, please. >> Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. Resolution 89 is a resolution to approve classified stipen for work outside the 2526

contractual year. >> So move >> second. >> Any [clears throat] discussion? >> Call the role please. >> Just generally what is what is the summer school sign? What is the assignment? >> So summer school statement. So the way that we run much of our summer school is through online courses. And so we have some staffing that helps um maintain um student access points, make sure their their various um administrative tasks in the way that we are able to get as many kids as many courses as they need in summer school. And so um this is a way that we help them to do that. >> Thank you. >> Call the role, please. Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Leenworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Mr. Bidmar.

>> Yes. >> Resolution 90 is a resolution to accept classified staff resignations. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the role, please. Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Miss Zaylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Resolution 91 is a resolution to accept classified staff retirements. >> So move second. >> Any discussion? This is another one that is difficult to believe, but I saw her uh in the office not too long after. Uh we got her retirement notification and she seemed very pleased and very happy, much to our chagrin, all over the place. So, Dorothy has been a staff member here obviously for 24 years. Um she is a much respected um bus driver for us and uh she takes great care of our kids

and we're going to miss her. >> Any further discussion? Call the role, please. >> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clay, >> yes. >> Resolution 92 is a resolution to approve unpaid days. So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? just I I I don't want to add any more time to this one because I like is this something I can go in consent uh consent. I feel like we like this is like the weirdest thing that we approve like someone saying I'm not going to get paid to work today. >> Sure. You're approving um basically upon my recommendation due to a myriad of reasons. >> Sure. um a person's ability to go outside of the con the specifications of their

contract and allow for an unpaid days for personal reasons basically. >> And so we need to approve this because it's of the the the contract. Okay. >> Sure. The one thing about working in education um that a lot of teachers and educators and support staff say is education is a great vocation unless something happens to you between the months of September to May and then it is a very hard vocation to be in if you have things that are happening um that you need to take care of your family. >> I just can't think of a reason I would ever vote no here and right you know what I'm saying like >> well I hope you won't vote no Mr. Vler but yes sure >> that's why I don't understand why. Yes, it's >> there's

other reasons for not putting all kinds of things together in a consent agenda because if something happens in one, you have to go back and you open when you open. >> That means that you open it up for everything. So, >> gotcha. >> So, it's better to to do things >> often times separately >> piece by piece. >> Okay. >> Thanks. Learned from experience. I can tell. >> Oh, [laughter] no. >> Yeah. Any further discussion? Call the role, please. >> Miss Naylor. >> Yes. >> Mr. Bidmar. Yes, >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Clayel. >> Yes, >> Miss Leborn. >> Yes. >> Resolution 93 is a resolution to approve supplemental contracts for the 2526 school year. >> So move second. >> Any discussion? >> So the addition of two here and two in the

next resolution is a dream come true. It's a dream we've dreamed um for our High School Musical. We're going to have a pit for the first time in a long time, maybe since the very beginning of my stint here. Um, so we are going to have a pit and an orchestra to support the musical that's live and Taylor and Jason are going to help commandeer that. Um, and the two in the next resolution will help by playing and being a part of that ensemble. So, we are very excited. Um it's certainly um gives more children the opportunity to participate in our high school musical and I'm hearing it's going to be fabulous. So I'm just really thrilled that we have um the staff willing to put the time in to make this opportunity available for

our kids. So that's the reason for the addition. >> That's great. >> Yep. Any other discussion? >> Call the role, please. >> Mr. Bidmar. >> Yes. >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Clayool. >> Yes. Miss Levworth. >> Yes. >> Miss Naylor. >> Yes. >> Resolution 94 is a resolution to authorize the award of service contracts for the 2526 school year. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> So the previous one are employees. >> Yes. >> And this one is for non-emp employees. >> Correct. >> Sort of the same thing except what their status is. >> Exactly. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. Any further discussion? Call the RO, please. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Leverworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >>

yes. >> Resolution 95 is a resolution to approve a school psychologist observation assignment for the 2526 school year. >> So move second. >> Any discussion? >> Can you tell us a little bit what that is? >> Sure. This is student teaching. Basically the same premise. um for a school psychologist. So along the same way as you would do a field assignment to be licensed to be a school psychologist, um Leah Kirkpatrick is certainly um exemplary. Uh she's also a BCBA just as an aside. So she's a has a behavioral um additional piece of her puzzle that would be really interesting. So um to Anna Wardrup who will be fulfilling this assignment with Leah, she's um selected a great one to shadow, so we're happy for her. But that's basically student teaching for a psychologist. >>

Um it's usually semester, but it's five hours per day for 10 days. So this is the initial observation. >> Um and then we'll we'll see as we go on. >> Have we done this before? >> I'm so sorry. >> Is this the first time we've done this with high school? >> Um we do it anytime. Um we h this has happened in the past over the years. I don't know this school year if we've had one doing with Leah, but we have in the past with Leah for sure. >> Is this driven by that the student comes to us? >> Oh, okay. For like a shadowing experience. Yeah. Cool. >> So, this student is currently employed at Chagrin Falls. >> Um, no, she's coming from Shikaran Falls and she's going to shadow with Leah. Correct,

Amy? >> Part of their senior project. >> She's a student, I assume, right? >> Yes. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. I thought this was someone who's getting certified. >> It can be, but in this case, it's a senior project. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Do any of our seniors go do that at school? >> Yeah. Yeah. One of the seniors helped my son out in the middle school. >> We have most of our seniors participate probably would you say 90%. >> Yeah. >> Close to Well, do a senior project in May. >> Okay. Any other discussion? Call the role, please. Mrs. Clay. >> Yes. Miss Levvenlord, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Resolution 96 is a resolution to approve chaperons for the West Giaga marching

band trip to Ireland. So move >> second. >> Any discussion? >> I think my name is missing from the list [laughter] back. >> Yeah, [laughter] >> pending. Yes. >> Waiting to grade it. >> Call the role, please. >> Miss Leworth. >> Yes. >> Miss Naylor. >> Yes. >> Mr. Vidmar. >> Yes. >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Scapel? >> Yes. >> Resolution 97 is a resolution to approve the first reading of new policies 2431.06, 6 6109 6425 6465 and revised policies 3440 4440 5112 5517 5223 6152 6320 6325 6423 6424 6460 and to rescend policy 5220. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the role please. Just real quick just to confirm this is again our first reading. We'll discuss around so between now and the next meeting please reach out

if you have questions out >> and you could pass to >> call the ro please. Miss >> yes >> Mr. [snorts] Jmar. >> Yes. >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes. Mrs. Clay. >> Yes. More. >> Yes. Resolution 98 is a resolution to approve the Little Wolverine preschool parent handbook. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Well, just a second of discussion that this was all this was already approved before. This is just >> with small updates. >> Yeah, we're adding the full day uh program. >> Okay. with um for preschool and so we had to add or Amy had to add and Megan they were changing and fixing anything that they had and then they had to add the full day tuition and what all the rules are for the >> for our second phase of the

preschool I heard there's a third phase but phase two >> oh that's great I'm just new and sometimes I >> so let's face it >> any further discussion call the role Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Levworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Resolution 99 is a resolution to approve the Cold Harbor agreement for the design, build, and construction of a new maintenance facility and water treatment plant. >> I'll move. >> Second. >> Who was first? I'm sorry. >> Okay. And second. >> Thank you. >> Any further discussion? I know I have a couple questions. Yeah. So just if we can briefly like so we're we're approving the agreement to say go forth and design and quote and right >> right and [clears

throat] and so that's the activity. One of the things that uh I was looking at is like you know there's like no max price or anything like stipulated in that agreement. Is that something that comes later or is that I don't know if we want to talk about it. >> Scott is the price it is in here. It is a guaranteed max price allowances. >> That's what I was gonna ask. We already those as I talked to Dale that is a guaranteed max price on the specs that we gave them to build that. Okay. >> Gotcha. And then any ch like any ch type of change orders or anything like that that come through would be we have to address on a one-off basis. Right. >> And they would come all change orders would come

back to the board. >> Okay. >> There's a provisions in the contract for the change orders. >> Okay. I had a No, go ahead. No, you go ahead. All right, I'll fight you. Um, harmless. [laughter] Um, we might have the same question. There was a place in here for insurance for us and it had all these items and it said if checked, that was the insurance, but none of them were checked. >> Which type of insurance? There's a lot of different >> I know page three of the amendment of the 141 amendment. I don't know. There's so much here. I might have missed it. It was a little confusing. Is there a way like that you can get a final document that has all the changes in it >> or is it always going to

be like this document and then an amendment and then an amendment? >> Well, this this would be the final document. Now, if we're looking at lists or other things for insurance, I know that carries an extensive amount of insurance to protect not only us. Um, as well as working with insurance to make sure everything is travel. Yeah, I I saw their I mean million two million here but but we have to have property insurance and so that's they also have one uh insurance policy while they're building and then we'll also have to work with love insurance as we're building this because we could get 50% there and we're at $2.5 million or there's something that happens. So we would want to have complete coverage as we're building this process. So it's a it's a builder's

risk policy. Finland are the underwriter. >> Yeah. So they have a policy and contractor Gale Harbor has sent an extensive email describing that they have all of that covered when it comes to the design, you know, nut and bolt that they put in there. They are covered not only for them but for us. But I can get that policy. It's a policy that is written upon when we make that first, >> right? >> Yeah. I'd just be curious as to the cost and is it included or it's nothing's included in this. >> It's included. >> No, I know they have it, but >> they just kept saying the owner. The owner, which would be us. >> Yeah, we have to. >> I was That's what that was what my question is. Is there going to

be an, you know, an insurance bill for us on top? Because there are quite a few places where it says the owner should the owner should the owner has to >> I must have made it up. [laughter] >> No, no, there's there is a there's a lot of places where we'll have that. So, we'll work with love insurance to make sure we're covered. So, that would be an additional policy outside the current policy that we have for property insurance. >> Would it be temporary or >> until the building's completed? >> It's going to be give us an idea. You >> know, we've got a it's not, you know, unusual. It's this unusual because it's an 18month process. Right. >> So, they have builder's risk policy that'll cover most of it and then we'll work with

love insurance and make sure we're fully covered is what um as Scott's worked with Kathy and and Jim. So, and then so you said the stipulated fee is the max I saw it was called stipulated fee the five which >> the 5 million. >> Yeah. The five 5177 or it >> and then the and then the allowance of the 145,000. Correct. So when you add those two together, right, >> that's where we're at. Even though we might not use all of the 145, >> right? And where in in you know, I read through it, but we've talked about possibly wanting to make some adjustments to the building, the design, allowing for some out exterior restrooms for the baseball fields back there. And is that we can do all that in here? I mean, it looked

like we could, but >> we started phase We will discuss all of those things and we brought it up at our last meeting to talk about either on the maintenance or setting it up for to be built, you know, closer to the baseball field. That's already in discussion of how we could potentially do that when we finalize the design. >> Yeah. >> Because of course, we don't want to spend any more money. >> N >> we don't. in fact are hoping to spend less but >> right that's another um >> so the other thing I'm sorry uh when I was reading through so who's our who's who's our throat to choke here right who's our who's like so Osborne is our our consultant like kind of driving the process right cold is executing the design

build but then as I read through it I I and I'm I don't purport to be a legal expert either but like I it seems like our rel are are the the work and the pay is related to the specific contractors if I read that correctly. So our who do we call and yell at when it's not done in in September of 27, right? >> Cold Harbor. >> And but and then if it's Bob's excavator company, right, that's the contractor that we're actually going to pay. >> We have no onetoone relationship outside of payment. Is that is that what I understand? So we so Cold Harbor is going to provide a superintendent on site and I think that was one of the things that was appealing to the board. Um so we would be working

through the superintendent. Um Scott obviously and Osborne would be helping us um with the management of that relationship, but my understanding is and correct me if I'm wrong that Cold Harbor and their superintendent on site is going to be our direct link to that work. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And I think it's if I read this right too that Cold Harbor is responsible for letting >> for proving to us that they are taking the money from us and paying it to the to the people doing the work. So that there's leans down the way or whatever and get assurances that >> we just paid you, you know, I don't know, $200,000 and it goes to the people doing the work. Okay. >> And they have a certain time period that they have to turn that

money over to their subcontractor. >> Yeah, exactly. Go ahead. >> I I would you kind of already addressed the question. I had and that was uh the design aspect of this. This looked like it's a go get started on things. Here's how everything's getting covered legally, but we haven't seen like a final design yet. Is that correct? >> Correct. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Right. >> That's why we hire a design build company. >> Yeah. And we'll definitely have plenty of opportunity for board input >> on modifying the design. >> Absolutely. >> I mean, we we've talked about a dollar amount, but yet we want to make it clear that we're not trying to build something that is exorbitant like a maintenance garage that has marble floors. >> We'll cancel that then. >> Yes. Absolutely. And

I think you know part of our initial meetings even have been can we talk about bathrooms and placement and things that we can do to you know fulfill more even more so in our campus structure. So that's been a piece of our conversation. >> I mean we're doing something that's big expensive and we want to make sure we take as much advantage of that and get what we can for our for our community as well as our students and >> absolutely >> right. So good >> and and one more thing. So, and like we're we're basically signing up for the 5.2 here. If we, you know, find some cost savings somewhere like I don't know >> whatever. Sure. >> Do we enjoy that benefit or is that listed with Okay, >> that might >> Yeah,

this is max. So, yeah. >> Yes, sure. >> There there are two allowances. There's one allowance in kind of that's already included that 5.177 and anything that we don't use in there and that was based on soil borings and things like that. So, and then we have the 145. So, anything in those allowances that we don't use, then we can that comes back to the district or it's used for something else within the project. >> Okay. >> So, >> I just want to make sure it wasn't a 5.2. We knock off 4 in of gravel in the driveway >> and we're still paying 5.2, right? Or whatever, right? >> Value engineering. And so, but there are, you know, instances where we may run into issues where there will be a change order. And if there's

a change order, change directive, we have we would come back to the board if there's anything in construction, I mean, over the 18 months that we would have there. >> And and speaking of generators, >> does does this does our whole project, the water well and everything include a generator for the well? So, we will have like the other generator. Okay. So, there are going to be some opportunities there to repurpose or re Okay, >> there are opportunities. And Mark um >> did he already leave? Oh, no. There he is. I was like, "Wow, he just went home." I guess uh Mark's been thinking about these opportunities and we've been talking about things to talk with the board about because I do think it affords us some >> campus upgrades and I think both both

of our >> citizens here >> made some good points. So >> Okay. >> Sure. Thank you. >> Any other discussion? >> Call the role, please. >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Clay? >> Yes. >> Miss Levworth? >> Yes. Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Resolution 100 is a resolution authorizing the agreement regarding the electricity purchase program of the Ohio Schools Council. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any discussion? Maybe you want to just explain to us, you know, cuz you and I we're saving like by doing >> Scott, did you want to explain this? >> I've got >> He doesn't know. >> I've got the numbers. He was saying goodbye to >> we're Karen. Go ahead. >> That's all right. >> Hang on. I got my piece of paper. >>

So general with the Ohio school council, we had a statement of how many savings. So under this program we saved $128,000 under this program. On the gasoline and diesel fuel, we saved 77,000. And then on natural gas, 20,000 and then we had some uh advantages with capital aluminum for our windows which was another 18. So those are kind of the top ones by using this group purchasing cooperative that we have available to us. >> We've been doing cooperatives for a long time. We do a cooperative with bus purchases and >> they do the bus purchases for us. >> Lower cost significantly >> in volume and we use it in particular for our insurance not Ohio school council but the Ohio school benefits council has been very advantageous for us over the years for our employee

benefits. Okay. Any further discussion? Call the RO, please. >> Mrs. Clay, >> yes. >> Miss Levvenworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Uh, discussion of new business and suggestions to be included on the future agenda. Do we have any? >> I don't know if this has any, but we never approved the February minutes. >> We put it in the consent agreement. >> Pardon me? >> In the consent agreement. It's >> Oh, it's in there. Okay. Sorry. >> Just want to make sure. We're watching. >> Okay. >> All right. Any uh board resolutions? >> Yes. Resolution 101 is a resolution to approve the West Yiaga High School choir noteworthy tours trip proposal to New York, New York for March 19 to 22nd. >> So

move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Did we see this before already? Um we did it for >> was this did we already prove it? I don't think did we >> we did this >> for last year we did last year. Yes they you've seen it >> in last year Samantha came and gave the proposal about the trip itinerary. >> Okay. Then I guess my comment would be it seems a little late to be approving it for this year if they're taking off in three days. Um, I don't know what to say to that, Dr. Beers, other than we can work to make sure it's earlier next year. >> That's fine. What would they do if [laughter] we turned it down? >> I don't know. But I don't want to find out since they've done

it in years past. >> Did we talk about this in like October or November? I think so. I think it was late. >> Yeah. So then >> Yeah. But we didn't approve it, right? I I >> I mean we we approved them. >> Yeah. >> We approved it. >> So I wasn't sure why we were seeing it again now. >> I don't know. I'll I'll double check that. I don't know why. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Well, it doesn't hurt to >> any We're going to approve it again. >> Well, we're going to do it again. Any >> They got three days. They better get you hopping. >> Yeah. Any other >> got that fundraiser going on, >> right? >> Okay. Call the RO, please. >> Miss Levvenworth. >> Yes. Miss Naylor, >> yes. >>

Mr. Vidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clay, >> yes. Resolution 102 is a resolution to appoint Westa Community Joint Recreation District Trustees Chris >> Deus and Chris Deacus. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the RO, please. >> Miss Naylor. >> Yes. >> Mr. Bidmar. >> Yes. >> Dr. Beers. >> Yes. >> Mrs. CL. >> Yes. >> Miss Loveworth. >> Yes. >> Resolution 103 is a resolution to authorize the filing of a complaint against the valuation of real property held by Horizon Investments pursuant to RC 5715.19. >> So move second. >> Any discussion? >> Is there any way to say a quick what that is? >> Yes. So when they passed h uh one of the laws, House Bill 96, they require the board now to approve any

counter claims. So, what the board has set aside over the years is that if there is a valuation between a property of what it's on the books for and then what they're requesting a new valuation for exceeded a half a million dollars and it was a commercial property, then we would counter claim that indicating that we question why is there the change before it goes to the board of revisions. And so now they're requesting that the board approve each one. Before it was just I, you know, I had the board's threshold and then I would just file the calendar claim. So now it's a each individual will will go before the >> sale or just a revaluation. >> Um, they had a sale on that property which um and the the valuation was still over

three. They're requesting still after the sale a a revision of over a half a million dollars. So the on the one for Horizon the sales price was 2.2 million and they're requesting 1 million. So but they did have a sale on that property. So that's one of the things that we look at is what if there has been a recent sale that we can go back to and look at >> and we don't typically dispute like residential. We don't dispute residential. Um unless there's a taking it from a residential to a tax exempt, then we might have something in place if there's a tax exempt um offering. We've seen that. And then if there's taking it to a business, uh sometimes we've seen that as well, such as a farm or horse farm or something.

>> Any further discussion? >> Call the role, please. >> Mr. Vidmar. >> Yes. >> Dr. Beers. Yes, >> Mrs. Clayel. >> Yes, >> Miss Levvenworth. >> Yes, >> Miss Naylor. >> Yes. >> Resolution 104 is a resolution to authorize the filing of a complaint against evaluation of real property held by Kinsman Holdings LLC pursuant to RC 571519. >> So, second. >> Any further discussion? Call the role, please. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clay, >> yes. >> Miss Leverworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. Resolution 105 is a resolution to revise the West Giaga High School, Middle School, and elementary school course fees for the 2526 school year. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Call the RO, please. Mrs. Clay, >> yes. >> Miss Levmore, >> yes. >>

Miss Taylor Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Superintendent report. >> Yes. So, I just wanted to make the board aware that um we had Lisa Deore um come March 12th. I know that some of the board members were able to see her speak. She was amazing and um I thought it was a great community event. A lot of feedback from parents and those that were guests of Westiaga folks um were thrilled and I thought her presentation was amazing. She basically gave, you know, her top 10 things that great parents do. So, we all took pictures of our phones and hopefully we're checking off list. Did we do this? Did I raise my kids well? But she was amazing. Gave us lots to think about raising kids in

today's day and age and she was just did a really fabulous job. So, we're grateful for her to come and and share um time with us. And then, as I said, uh Nursery Crimes was um fabulous. I thought um our kids were uber talented. I mean, sometimes I think elementary plays are based on a cute factor and maybe not so much a talent factor, but this was like not the case in any way. I was blown away. Um Amy and I walked in and a group of moms were like, "You're missing it." We like walked in 30 seconds into it. And I understand why they don't want you to miss a single second because it was so amazing. And I think between the costumes and the the sets and the just community atmosphere of everybody

doing something as a collective, it was really amazing. It made you so proud of West Giaga and um we certain certainly left feeling like wow that was something else. I mean something amazing. And I think the fact that our board supports a theater program beginning at the elementary level through high school is something special, especially for a district our size, and it makes me really proud. I'm just super proud of that. So, thank you for your support of that. It was wonderful. >> I was saying, just tagging on to that to Dr. beers that that um >> if we could do put that performance out for more people in the community to see, >> perhaps that would help them to understand why we need a >> venue in order to showcase >> the talent and

the skill that we have, not only in the uh what the teachers do, but the kids voices were fantastic. And yes, >> and the the enthusiasm of the parents of doing the design of the the u sets and the and the costumes. It's it's really incredible. Not only what they do, but the enthusiasm in the community. So, >> it was amazing. It was super fun. >> If we could put it on somewhere and get more of the community to come in, too. >> Right. Amy and I were laughing because there was um who I thought was a mom. That should that will let me explain later, but doing the dances, mirroring the dances with the kids and I thought, "Oh, here's this mom." Like, "Oh, yay." And it was the high school student who had

choreographed it and she was amazing. And between watching her and her enthusiasm for the show and our kids marrying it back, it was really um lots of chills watching that performance. It was really special. And I don't know how many Katie um how many middle school and high school kids were are there and giving all the time to help. >> Not only in the >> I think I was told it was around like 20 25 kids were there and and they stood at the on stage at the last for a song where they all danced together and I would say that seemed that number seemed about right to me when I was looking things over. So there was a huge group of kids and the sense and the um >> um >> the sound and

these are all kids that have performed in the past years and who just have got gotten so much enthusias of the shows at the high school. >> I'm sure. Yes, it was something. It was really special. So >> yeah, I thought that was also fantastic too because they were um they couldn't have been more excited about the the kids per performances. >> Absolutely. It was It was fun. It was very, very fun. It was very cool. And so, um, just some things to put on your radar. Speaking of musicals, the High School Musical weekend is April 10th through 12th. So, um, I wanted you to have that on your calendar because it'll be before the next board meeting. Um, we are having a high school career panel. Um, that will be filled with um, some

WestG parents and representing a a wide variety of VOCs um, for our kids to attend. And I know that Brandon Davis has been helpful with Jim, working with Jim to help organize that. And that's going to happen on well, April Fool's Day um at 5:30. Um so that might be something you might be interested in joining us for. And then this week we have the sports spring sports kickoff. >> Where is that going to be? >> Pardon me, at the high school in room 124. And then the um spring sports kickoff um just as we've done with the fall and the winter will be this week Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. We are attempting to have it outside. Question mark question mark. Question mark, but if not it'll be even the gym, I'm assuming, right?

>> You took a look at the weather and it's been moved inside. Okay, there you go. So that'll happen this week um on Thursday. So happy for you to join us when you can. But those are some of the things going on before and of course next week is um much to everyone's delight spring break. So we're going to take a week to regroup here and then we'll have give it our best till the end of the year. Thanks. >> That's it. That's it. >> Y are there any uh board report or um yeah board reports? I guess just one just from the finance committee affect good bill like uh so uh we talked about uh obviously the financials and stuff but I guess one of the topics that we discussed was uh you know

our financial presentation right how we can uh make it a little easier to uh to view for a non-financial person let's say uh and I'll pick on my wife to you know kind of like she doesn't she looks at a wall of numbers and just doesn't interpret it. So, uh, we're going to look to kind of like, uh, you know, make, uh, a cleaner version of, uh, some of our, uh, financial metrics. Uh, we'll start with and we'll kind of treat it as an evolution, right, Karen? And just, uh, kind of step into things like we'll start with cash and capital and get into, you know, you know, our monthly spend or what, whatever the next thing is. So, but I think that that was a a good activity that we're going to start off.

Yeah. >> Good. >> I don't I Do you want to correct the word cleaner version because I think cleaner cleaner to me that >> I think it's cleaned up. You mean simpler or simple in my mind that we're ticked and tied? Uh but we're but we're we're taking chunks of spreadsheets and putting them on a right. No. Yeah, I understand. Yeah. >> Your wife is >> usually more appealing. [laughter] >> Yeah. Yeah. But >> yeah, more more vis more more uh making it so that you can quickly look at a slide, something that you're accustomed to in business, like a dashboard, right? So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There. Yeah. No, no offense intended. >> She's picking on me. >> Yeah. So, I I think that's a good uh >> Well, I you know, I also noticed

in the finance I forget that we've got that extra uh bonus of income from the state because of our performance. >> 123,000. We're up to like what 100,000 >> 123 >> $123,000 because of our performance. >> Better. >> Yeah. Yeah. Whatever. We'll get there. >> Hey, we're proud of that performance. We'll take that 12 $23,000 better than a poke in the eye. >> That's right. Savings here. I mean, it's something we're going to talk about at our strategy session, but you know, >> savings there and little extra funds here and there helps. Um any other board reports? Okay. Um resolution 106 to adjourn to executive session. Whereas the West Yiaga Local School District Board of Education is committed to conducting its business in compliance with the Ohio Open Meetings Act as set forth in Ohio

Revised Code section 121.22. And whereas Ohio Revised Code section 121.22G1 22G1 permits a public body to enter into executive session to consider the employment and compensation of a public employee or official. And now therefore, be it resolved by the Westiaga Local School District Board of Education that it shall enter into executive session at >> 7:43 >> 3 to consider the employment and compensation of public employee as permitted under Ohio Revised Code sections 121.22G1. 22 G1. Be it further resolved that no formal actions, final votes or business will be conducted by the board of education following the conclude conclusion of this executive session. >> So move second. >> Call the role, please. >> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clay, >>

yes. We're going to be so fast. Dr. Briggers, I did check on your um choir. We did it in March last year, but we will have it before you months before. We will reach out to Samantha and make sure it's earlier, but we did it the same way last year. I think that's probably why she put it out in March. >> Uhhuh. Yeah. >> Last year you did it on the 19th. >> Yeah. Sorry. Okay. We're going to reconvene into regular session at 8:37. No, 8:27. [laughter] 8:27 p.m. Okay. >> You get older, you have to draw a clock. [laughter] >> It's part of the Medicare physical. [laughter] >> All right. Our next regular board meeting is on Monday, April 20th, 2026 at 6 p.m. in the board office community room, 8615 Cedar Road, Chesterland,

Ohio. Uh resolution 1067 to adjourn. Can I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Call the RO, please. >> Dr. Beers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Clayool, >> yes. >> Miss Leworth, >> yes. >> Miss Naylor, >> yes. >> Mr. Bidmar, >> yes.
