monthly work session. At this time, we will move to our blue ribbon facilities updates 2.0 with Dr. Nesbbit. >> Good evening, uh, President Lord, board members, Dr. Smith. Let's take our blue ribbon phase two. Uh, our overview, McKenzie, that project continues to move very well. Our target is August of uh, 27 and we may be done here in December of 26. So, we're we're cruising there. Uh, excuse me, Craig Academy, that I'm talking about Craig Academy. uh McKenzie center that work does continue and that is just uh our uh architectural work and uh work with our CMC on how that project's going to look and then our classroom additions uh Crest View Forest Glenn and Mary Castle all moving along very well. We'll look at some pictures of those soon. Our guaranteed energy savings uh

those chillers are going in on those those ones labeled in green there. So we're excited to have those in place before the weather starts to turn here at spring break or so. uh Crest View. There's a look at the outside of Crest View. And then there's a look at the uh a gang bathroom with no fixtures or walls. And then inside Cresview, there's a hallway. And there's one of the four classrooms. And that's a pretty standard classroom how they look. One of the rooms is a little bigger. It's a music room. And then we look at Forest Glenn. There's a look at the outside of that. We have the sheathing up now. And then inside you can see that's a six classroom. And you can kind of that right picture see the large uh high

ceiling there, the canopy. And then Mary Castle. Mary Castle, we're looking to be done at the end of the month. Uh sidewalk is in. The doors are now in since I took those pictures. And then I think we'll take a look inside. Yeah, you can see inside a classroom. Uh they're they're getting pretty close. Uh there's still some uh above those cubbies there, the the cabinetry goes in and uh the carpeting is going in. And so we're we're real close on Mary Castle. Uh Craig County, they're in there wrapping up the painting. and they didn't quite get done before we started having games in there. So, they're doing that during the weekdays. And then uh there's a look at the old PD room. So, the hole you're seeing there, the where the vacant wall, that's

where the stage was. Uh so, the stage is now gone. That holes there, that's going to be a stairwell. And then the stairwell look down into the gymnasium. So, and then on the right there, that's some of the steel beams that are bigger than they might show in the picture there, but some big work there. And that takes you through blue ribbon phase two. >> Very good. Thank you, Dr. Nesbet board. Any questions or comments? >> I just have one comment. Thank you for showing us what's in the those windows there above the gym because we were curious and >> and it really looks so nice. Um I know the gym is still um in the process of completing the painting, but to be honest with you, >> you almost can't tell because it's just

so breathtakingly beautiful. >> Um I didn't even notice until my husband pointed out like, "Oh, they're finishing that part." So, >> yeah, take a look at those. See, like the the black on the the the standards that lower the goals and stuff, you know, that that was painted and then the the rafters are painted blue. Like there's really some pretty cool detail that again, most people won't even notice, but if you get it pointed out like, "Oh, wow. That that, you know, they really freshened that that space up to where it looks, you know, practically brand new." >> Thank you. Thank you. Any other questions or comments? I did have one question, just a point of clarification. It's awesome that they're ahead of schedule on some of the elementary schools. >> Even if they finish

completely, though, the the students will not move in until the next school. >> Yeah, Principal Ble and I talked about that this week because I said, "Hey, I'd like to get those portables out of here so we can start working on the playground uh maybe a little bit early, but we we always try to in construction projects not move a teacher more than one time because that that's tough, especially elementary, they have a lot of stuff on the walls, etc. So, no, we will not occupy that space until the fall, but we'll as soon as school's out, we'll start moving furniture and and getting it ready. >> Okay. So, the move will get to happen quicker than over the summer. >> Yep. >> Okay. Thank you for that. Any other questions or comments, board? >>

All right, that's great news. >> 2.02, um, request for RFP for mental health services. Miss Neee. >> Yes. Good evening, everyone. Good evening, Madame President, Dr. Smith, and members of the board. Tonight I'm bringing information to you regarding school-based mental health services. For the past 20 years, we have had a partnership with Community Health Network, specifically Galahue, and we've been very grateful for that partnership, but Community Health Network has made the decision to end this service. Um, this the contract end date as of right now is June 30th, 2026. Due to this decision, we do need to move forward and secure another vendor for this service. And this is critical. Um, one of the main reasons is we know this is an effective and efficient way to service students especially during vulnerable times. But it

also state law in Senate enroll 246. It does state that we enter into a memorandum of understanding with a community health center provider and that was in effect as of July 1st, 2020. Um, at this point in time I welcome any questions. >> Thank you Miss Neyer board. Any questions or comments on the RFP for mental health services? M >> I just want to comment that certainly I'm very disappointed that community has decided to um to not continue these services as I think that they have been an outstanding partner. Our family knows firsthand the wonderful care um that is provided. So, it's um very unfortunate um but I'm confident that the district will find another provider that hopefully will um match the wonderful care that community has done. >> Thank you, Miss Dunn. Any other

questions? Yeah, Miss Lawrence. >> So, in the and this is my ignorance here, so I just appreciate some clarification. In the law, you you mentioned that it requires a community health partner. So does that then restrict it to health systems like in IU Health, Community Health, St. Vincent or >> they do need to be able to meet those requirements. So it there it is an element of restriction, but as we you know open that up to vendors. Um it's it's also looking at what other options there could be that do meet the letter of the law. >> Okay. Thank you. I do I actually I have one more question. Do we um knowing that there to Marta's point um there are a handful of providers in the city of Indianapolis do we believe that um

that those providers have we had any preliminary conversations to determine if those providers have the capacity to take on more schools? >> Yes, we have had we've been very fortunate to have multiple um conversations and people have asked um we've met with them. We've discussed what our needs are um and we um we're very much sought after. So it is great to know that um there are other people who'd like to partner with us as well. >> Not surprising. >> Yes, Miss Lawrence and I are just going back and forth tonight on these on these questions, but she prompted another question in my in my mind. Um so when we think about um providing these services, is it uh a co it's a cost issue for the the district? Do we pay them or are

they just on standby and they're a preferred vendor? The way that it does work is that we do provide, as I like to say, um, soft materials, office space, you know, a private area for them to meet with their clients, phone, that type of thing, access to to a computer. But in terms of billing, that's all done through insurance, whether that's private insurance or Medicaid billing. So, that is the um revenue um stream that is utilized to pay for these services. And the vendor does all of that billing. That billing is not done by the school district. >> Okay. So, the the district incurs soft costs but not hard cost >> as a result. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Any other questions or comments for Dr. Mhallen? >> I'm sorry if you already mentioned this.

Um what's the timeline for being able to um see the you know the possible partner? >> Um Community Health Network, their contract ends June 30th, 2026. So our hope is is that um we would be interviewing and know who the new vendor would be in a March time frame. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you for that question. I think we all agree the importance of mental health services for our students and adults. So thank you Miss Neee. >> Moving on to 2.03 request for RFP for student devices. Mr. Harsha. >> Good evening Madam President, Dr. Smith and members of the board. Uh this evening I bring to you a request to submit an RFP for our Chromebook devices. In MSDLT we order uh Chromebooks every spring for grades 2, six, and nine. Sometimes we

do have shortfalls in a few of our other grades and we need to um supplement that, but mostly um that's part of our refresh cycle, those three grade levels. Um, so we would like to uh put out an RFP and um get some uh bids some from some vendors and I hope to have a um recommendation back to you at the March meeting. >> Thank you Mr. Harsha. >> Any questions board regarding the RFP on the devices? >> Okay, thank you Mr. Harsha. Moving into action items 3.01 01 approval of the request for RFP for the mental health service. Miss Miss Newire. >> Yes, I'm back. Um good evening. Um I at this point in time would like to request an RFP in order for us to post for um a you know potential and

hopefully have a vendor for our school-based mental health services. >> All right. I'll entertain a motion for the approval of requests for the mental health service RF. >> Second. >> Who wants it? Second. All right. Properly moved, Miss Lawrence, and seconded, Miss Dunn. Um, any other final questions or comments before we move to vote. All right. All in favor of the approval for the request for RFP for mental health services, say I. >> I. Any opposed? The eyes have it for the approval of the RFP for mental health services. Thank you, Miss Neee. 3.02 approval of the request for the RFP for student devices. Mr. Harsha. >> Good evening, Madam President, Dr. Smith, and members of the board. Uh, I would like to request approval to put out an RFP for Chromebook devices as submitted.

>> Second. >> All right. Properly moved, Miss Lawrence, and seconded, Dr. Mhalland, for the approval of requests for the RFP on the student devices. Any final questions or comments? All right, we will move to vote. All in favor, say I. >> I. I. Any opposed? All right. The approval has passed for the request of RFP for student devices. Final action item 3.03, approval of the personnel report. Miss Carla Johnson. >> Good evening, Madame President, Dr. Smith, and members of the board. Approval is sought for the personnel reports. >> All right. I'll entertain a motion for the approval of the personnel report. We have a >> Oh, okay. Do we have a second? All right. Properly moved, Miss Lawrence and seconded, Miss Dunn. Any final questions or comments on the personnel report? All right. All in

favor of the approval of the personnel report say I. >> I. Any oppose? The eyes have it. The personnel report has been approved. Moving into administrator and board comments. We'll start down here. Dr. Mahaland. [snorts] Okay, Miss Pucket. >> Not a lot. It's It was a pleasure going to Capitol Hill to advocate for our funding for part B. Um, hence what we are talking about today is being able to meet with those that represent us. And so, um, prayerfully we continue to, um, yeah, be in prayer and make sure that we get the funding that we need. So, thank you to all. >> Thank you. All right, Miss Lawrence. >> Okay, Miss Dunn, >> I um just wanted to u express the gratitude um for being able to attend the um Indiana Latino Institute legislative

breakfast with many of those um members of cabinet. Um and just in case you didn't know, Raphael Sanchez also gave a huge shout out to Lawrence Township Schools for the wonderful work that we do with dual language instruction. So, it was um quite an honor to represent Lawrence Township um at that event and to hear from our um state legislators. So, thank you for that. >> Thank you, Miss Dunn. And I'd like to thank the township as well for uh the advocacy institute opportunity. It was hit the ground running. Um it was an honor to be able to advocate with our colleagues in Marian County on their school boards. It went really well and there were great conversations about why the need for IDEIDA funding is needed uh with our senators and congressmen on both

sides of the aisle just sharing the personal stories of the work that our staff and our district do for all of our kids. Dr. Smith, >> you love this time of the year, Madame President and board. It is basketball season in Indiana. We still love basketball and you are the defending state champions and so [clears throat] we do have the other team that's in the title. Matt March Grant Nesb let the board know what we have coming up. >> Sure. That's right. Lawrence Central Bears uh won the sectional Saturday night over North Central at North Central which means next up for him is Pike. They'll play the Red Devils this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Greencastle High School out west uh in the Depal area. Uh, so that's up next for him. Pike beat him

earlier this year. I think Pike is uh they may have one loss in there. I think they're 24-1 and the Bears are 20 and4, but it should be a pretty good game. Uh, should be a good matchup. So, that's 7 o'clock this Saturday at Green Castle High School. >> Thank you, Dr. Nesb. Put your GPS on. It's going to be a different road for us. It doesn't matter where we play. We're still out to win, aren't we? All right. That's all I have, Madam President. >> All right. Thank you. We'll make sure we show up and show out for the Bears. All right. Our next monthly board of education meeting will be here Monday, February 23rd. We will begin at 6:30 with student recognitions. A point of clarification, we will also be recognizing those who

were to be recognized at our January monthly meeting. So, they will be there as well. So, double celebration. At this time, I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn. properly moved Miss Pucket and seconded Miss Lawrence. Thank you everyone. President.
