to present Kenneth BR Meer with a superintendent award thank Youk you and his wife is here Mr and Reggie White are KY W Front Center Director of Transportation Transportation come on now all right Mr White get in there we're going to some the number one mechanic in the state of Indiana is that all right right here please one two congratulations conratulations congratulations [Applause] no yeah that's right that was outstanding that was that was wonderful we'll move on to our information items um Mr Smith the Blue Ribbon update please Madam president Dr Smith members of the ward we're still pushing hard uh the high school tile work at LC uh the the time has started for us to uh September 14th is when we will start filling that pool uh next slide interior work continues and

we're going to turn that over to the building next two weeks uh again the main entrance into the pool uh the LC multi-purpose room is nearing completion full floor and cleaning is underway and that'll be turned over in the next week or so to the building the hallway has been completed uh after I took this picture uh again that'll be opened up for the building to use as well Ln new addition uh front uh uh glass work is nearing completion there have also oo started on the inside with the glass partition and storefronts going in ceiling and tile work is going in and flooring going down so a lot of work being done again more interior work uh bellor Middle School the auditorium is nearing completion we are looking to turn that over to the

building uh September 2nd and the front uh entrance way continues on pul Creek Valley art rooms couple band rooms uh continue on as well as the auditorium site work outside softball tennis and baseball continue on here at LCC uh the sidewalk has been completed and in the next 3 or 4 days we'll start the completion of the asphalt and hopefully turn over over phase one to us uh by mid to third week in September tennis courts are finished new Lac a lot of work happening uh the main uh project going on right now still being set and going up as well as uh storm water going across the site any questions I had um two questions thank you Mr Smith a lot of great great construction going on um first question is are the tennis

courts here at lecc open for public use at this time uh they yes they are we're uh yet to put up some uh U wind screen that's going up and then some uh uh practice boards that goes on there but they're playable now okay thank you and then my second question was from a neighbor constituent um and I know know the answer but just for the public record they were um asking about the voting uh place at the Fieldhouse at Lawrence North they noticed all the construction on the North side and wanted to know if that would still be the pulling place we'll still have polling at Lawrence yes okay thank you yes Lawrence Mr Smith um we we've had a question from a member of the public and again just for the record because

I know we've um addressed the but uh at Fall Creek Valley we do have quite a big divot as you enter that is part of the construction not our construction but the city's construction um for the the pathway and uh that does cause some I drive it almost daily um some some difficulty getting in and out of Fall Creek Valley I'm wondering if you could just address some of those concerns um and when they might be remedied yeah that's an ongoing issue we've uh are in constant communication with the City of Lawrence uh every time there is an issue that's brought to my attention I go to the city and they address that with a contractor so hopefully here in the next hopefully four weeks uh most of that work will be complete thank you

great if there are no more questions for Mr Smith on this we'll move to the results of our elementary oven bids Mr Smith Madam president Dr Smith members of board uh we received bids on August 1st there were four bids submitted uh good competitive bids the low bid meeting all specification was Lancaster shirt equipment which is a veteran owned business for $584,500 to purchase ofs Mr Smith well is this for all of our elementary schools all 15 elementaries LC's and LC's and elementaries okay so this is 15 ovens we're talking about any questions board no questions there no questions we'll move on to the information the results of the RP for the CMC for Crest forestland and Mary Castle projects Mr Smith again sen president Dr Smith me members of the board interviews were conducted

August 16th with five CMC contractors very good presentations were presented the the evaluation team consisted of Dr Smith Matt miles Roger Smith Amy Norman Crystal Pucket or members uh Anna Marie barell and Jen Carroll which is from Schmidt and then Scott hunt and Sean damaya uh with ratio uh the team selected three separate contractors for these three projects uh Cory Garcia for Forest Glenn Davis and Associates for cresview and powers and Suns for Mary Castle our recommendation will be to prove these three CMC contractors for these three projects board members do you have questions for Dr Smith Miss D I do have a question I know that for the results of the elementary oven bids we have uh score sheet that is shared with the public is there something that is shared um along those

lines that we can add to board doc so the public can see how those were evaluated and why they were chosen yes we have a document of that and I can post that after the board meeting thank you question thank you Mr Smith um Mr Smith you're still up um RP for Energy savings contract Madam president Dr Smith members of the board uh we sent out three rfps for the guaranteed energy saving contractor uh this process is governed by the state statute Indiana code 36-1 d12.5 on how this process should work hbac controls Mechanical plumbing electrical and Roofing are all allowed in this process the process is much different and more involved uh than other Energy savings contracts that uh we looked at in the pass this process will be monitored and cost savings tracked

as a result of the improvements being made to hbac controls Roofing upgrades that are done the savings could be used to offset our day-to-day uh cost for utilities or it could go back into our day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of our equipment of the three rfps we received one we were pleased to have uh the one by Performance Services this company is a leading company uh to perform guaranteed Energy savings contracts uh for the process in the state of Indiana and 17 other states so they are a national known company Performance Services also did some work here in msdlt in our hbac work back in the early 2000s their expertise and current knowledge of this district will benefit msdlt this process will allow us to do both our from the Blue Ribbon Phase 2 plan Priority

One both hpac and roofs in one effort we would recommend the performance Service as our guaranteed energy savings contract um Mr Smith my question is as a guaranteed savings what is our guaranteed savings on this is there a a number is there is there a dollar in figure uh there will be uh what we do is this is similar to our CMC where we bring them in we work with Engineers Architects we build a project the scope of within our budget then that gives us a guaranteed maximum price and the same process will do with guaranteed Energy savings uh we can't do all the buildings in one year so we will prioritize and we got priority uh buildings that we would see first second third and fourth along with roofs we would package that information

go through uh thorough uh evaluation of the building uh with Performance Services engineers and we'll conduct a uh spec and plans that will be bid for the project within that scope they will determine based off what we're upgrading we will have a savings amount as a result of that are we looking for a savings amount on our um energy expenditure are we looking for a savings on the cost of roofing where are we looking for these savings we could any savings we could we get we could could use for um lowering our year-to-year cost of energy uh we could also offset our maintenance budget by ongoing repairs that we will have over the years um so there's different ways that we can do that using those dollars putting it back into uh operations Andor education

sure I'm just not sure how we track those dollars that we're saving well they have a guarantee so they will have to work with this for an ongoing period to track all of that savings so every year we will have uh a report of what savings we have performed as a result of doing those projects will they determine how much we save or will we be able to determine how much we save that'll be both of us working together I request again also on this one that we could see the Energy savings contract for this as well please great we will move on to the financial update our um CFO is not here this evening so we will ask Dr Smith to give us our financial update I am honored to step in for Mr

miles as we meet every day uh to update our financial report Sheila can you start off with our general fund monitoring as you you can see we are in solid shape Mr miles is reporting that we are well on our way and actually our budget looks a little bit ahead of where we'd like for it to be but we will certainly continue to monitor that and uh keep us on track where we need to be at the end of the year the transportation fund is in a very good spot as he's indicated uh it's decreased back into projected both total revenue and expenses are above as projected so we're heading in the right direction in both of those accounts board questions uh we will move on at this point to committee board chair reports uh

do we have a report for the foundation well well I was attending the foundation meeting although remotely um and it was impossible to hear so I will defer to miss Norman to give an update on the foundation but feel free to tag team with me um so the basically on the foundation update we do have a big fundraiser coming up the bridge Fund Golf Outing it's the 12th annual on Friday September 27th at Pebblebrook Golf Club um with a special guest by former Colts um Adam veter all right and registration is still open on the msdlt f.org website the following day is um Dia Latina de Lawrence at the arts for Lawrence cultural campus here in Lawrence from 10:00 a. to 2 PM it's a Vibrant Community event that our district will be very active

and participating with um and then let's see I believe that is no that's not it I'm sorry I have one last point tonight um the Grant application deadline for the Creative Impact grants is this Friday August 30th for our staff that's all great uh parks and W Miss Pucket yes well what I was going to report on de la Lawrence um so yes that thank you for that um and then we had this past Saturday Community safety day which I saw pictures it was a success I was um dropping off the boy to school so I was unable to attend but it looked like was very successful that is all that I have to report for now thank you very much it's done policy thank you to Dr harshberger for continuing to support in this

a little math in my head so congratulations to all the reading uh challenge winners um the two of them had over 11,000 hours for this or minutes I'm sorry yeah whoa um they wouldn't sleep no um and they'd be like 45 yes that's true um I calculated with a 10 week school break that that would be around 18 and 1 half hours a week of reading and I'm like okay that's great they're not on their devices they're reading you know or whatnot but that I mean kudos to that and I just wanted to share with my fellow board members we're going to have our own reading challenges um with the budget and a lot of um you know future policy coming up so let's get at it and thank you thank you any further comments

well I don't plan to spend 11,000 minutes pouring over the budget however if it so requires but I I think we can probably get through it in quicker than 11,000 minutes no I I just wanted to uh give a shout out to all of our um our fall sport athletes who um have been have been working very hard since uh the summer to prepare for this season and it is not very pleasant out there right now um and I think I it's just top of mine for me because I'm about to leave and go to the Ln women's soccer game I mean I'm just going to maybe grab another water out of the refrigerator cuz it's going to be hot it's going to be hot but thank you to all the athletes and all the

coaches who go out of their way and uh to make sure that our students have those opportunities to participate in athletics and um which form the foundation for things much greater than Sports so that's all for me I would Echo that but don't forget the Fine Arts or the band or the band or the band Mar my son would kill me spent a lot of time I'm sweating out on the pavement I I I want to make sure to help out um I would just say you know I'm glad that our um kiddos have had a great start to the year our staff um this has been um a relatively seamless beginning of the new year I thank all administrators staff and parents for all the support uh we give our children every day excited
