You guys did an amazing job. >> Next, we have a presentation from our athletic update from I bring her athletic dress. >> All right. Thank you for having me up here. Um Janine took a lot of my thunder here. Um ways to contact us. Um you find information about the athletic department. Um any way you want to you can find us. Uh all social media westcarpirates.com. There's an app. Um before we get started with the winter update, I wanted to do some alumni. Um Alan Latimore um scored his thousandth point this season. Um he's at Fiser College now. Um NIA doing great things. Um so I wanted

to kind of give him a shout out here. Um we have Lisa Cali Ward inducted into the athletic hall of fame. Um so that that happened during the Troy game um this past winter. So, um, winter recap. Uh, we're going to start with academics. Um, this is the honor roll. Um, this was from first semester grades. Um, so with grades finalizing last night, we've um were able to see where everyone finished. Um, so we'll get that up um as soon as we get time to uh make a graphic for everything. Um, keep an eye on the kids year round. Um, winter honor roll. This is the 3.0 list. Um, Funny stat is with the first semester grades, uh, 50% of our student athletes in the winter were over a 3.0 GPA. >> That's incredible. >>

Um, bowling. Um, Bobby, uh, plays, you know, year- round athlete here. Um, won the strike off strikeout champion, um, at the Southwest shoot off this, uh, this winter. Um that is where you start with uh everybody bowls a ball and then um if you don't get a strike you sit down pretty much. So um he won that. Um Lily Kley went to uh the districts um and represented West Carolton there as an individual. Um did a great job representing us. Um we had a lot of compliments um on our team spirit and our um just general enthusiasm to be there. um cheering for both teams. Um and then we actually had Lily um was with Anderson, was bowling with Anderson and they did a cheer for the Pirates. Um they invited her to, you know,

do their cheer as well. So great to see that. Um starting with girls basketball, um Aria, who also is a year-round athlete for us, um honorable mention all league as a freshman. Um Sydney was first team all league as a senior. Um, and our eighth grade girls played in the MBL championship game. Um, finished runners up, but um, you know, a lot of these girls are going to come up and contribute to the varsity team next year as freshman. So, very exciting for them. Boys basketball division champions. Um, Joe's first team, Barney's honorable mention, and Saltan was second team. Coach Parker hit 100 wins um during the season. Great accomplishment. Uh third coach in school history to do that. Um NBL coach of the year and then district awards. Sydney was uh all district 15.

Uh got to play in the All-Star game. Um that's where Joe's at, right? >> Yeah. So the girls played last night. Joe plays tonight. Um averaged 14 and 13. Um led the league in blocks. shot 57% from from the field. It's great. Sultan um did it all. Led the league in steals. Um offense and defense, he's really taken that next step. Um Coach Parker, uh division three Southwest District, uh coach of the year. >> And then school records. Um Joe's not here for this, but um >> this is with the last two games not not in there. So this will go up a little bit. um broke Kylin Ingram's record from his sophomore year with 70 blocks in a season. >> Um and then Sid as well, uh 26 rebounds in a game. Uh incredible,

just relentless effort. And that's all I have for tonight. >> We can give you if you want to go out and have your photo. I think waiting for you for your photo. >> Great job. >> Congratulations. >> Great job here. Hey guys, congratulations. >> I got it for you. >> I want a sweatuit like that though, Parker. >> Can we get a sweatuit? >> Sure. >> I'll see you guys. Congrats. >> Take care. Thanks again. >> Okay. The treasur recommends that the board approve the following items 9A and 9B. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Mr. Mr. Robinson Thompson. >> Yes. >> Mr. Sh. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Gibson. >> Yes. Um, the next item I ask that the board adopt the resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission

and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the Montgomery County auditor as presented. >> So moved. >> Second. >> This we we do this every year. It's just a document prepared by the county auditor and we approve it every March. >> Mr. Bundy. >> Yes. Mrs. Robinson Thompson. >> Yes. >> Mr. Shocker. >> Yes. >> Mr. Gibson. >> Yes. >> The superintendent recommends that the board approve the following personnel items 11 A through 11 I. >> So move. >> Second. >> Yeah. I don't know >> if I'm able to add. I do want to if it passes of course I do want to congratulate G and Paige on their promotions and I know we talked about a little bit earlier but it is sad to see the situation that has and that is

very hard for me but um for the best that's all >> I do wish all the best Any other comments or go home? >> Mrs. Robinson Thompson. >> Yes. >> Mr. Sher. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Gibson. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mundy. >> Yes. 11. >> Good evening. >> The superintendent recommends that the board approve the following personnel items 11 A through 11 I. >> Second. >> You just Oh, >> you guys did it though. >> Well, I've got everybody messed up. It's my fault, guys. >> Well, I did want to comment on that. >> I know it already passed, but uh go ahead. >> If you notice, we did make uh our first three hires this year. We will not um need to replace many because we will be uh obviously cutting through attrition. the

the first three that we are extremely excited about are difficult to fill positions um those teachers will be in self-contained units. One of them that um is inhabited by one of our teachers that has been here for 34 years. So her student teacher um will be replacing her. So, Sandy is very happy and uh we're going to welcome Andy Childs into that position who's a cheerleader for the University of Dayton. >> And Tessa Lane is going into another unit. Um again, very hard to fill positions. She's actually at at Right State, which is really high. And then um a speech pathologist is extremely difficult to find but we have all three of our most difficult to find positions here. >> She's also in March and she's interning here. So all of them wanted to be

here the LG student teaching here and we kind of got the opportunity to interview them for a semester. >> That's exciting. >> Thank you. All right. 12. >> Okay. The superintendent recommends that the board approve following personnel items 12 A through 12 B. >> So move. >> Any comments? >> No. No comments on. >> Yes. >> Mr. Gibson. >> Yes. >> Mr. M. >> Yes. Mrs. Robinson. >> Yes. I guess I have number 13. I'd like to recommend that the West Carolton Board of Education grant an administrative contract to the following administrator for the period of time indicated. >> So moved >> second. >> So I would like to um welcome is our curriculum supervisor for I'm so excited um beginning August 1st of 2026. So, welcome. >> Angie's been with us and this is

my fifth year. So, I am a lifelong pirate. For those of you who don't know me, I went to school here K through 12. taught here for 27 years the middle school and then have been in the curriculum department as a coach for secondary ELA for five years and I'm really looking forward to continuing my career in capacity. >> Thank you. >> We need a vote >> Mrs. Gibson. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. Mr. Robson. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. comments and reports. Student representatives. Um, I don't have a whole lot today. Um, closet going well. Not a whole lot new there. Um, we've got a lot going on this week. I'll let talk about a little bit of it. But Friday we do have the staff student basketball game and that's put

on by student council and then all the money raised goes to say cancer societ American cancer society. >> Yeah. Um and we actually do have a student currently battling cancer cancer. So it'll be in honor of her and >> sorry when is the game >> Friday. What time is it? It's during the day. >> Wait, second period. >> No, it's after. >> Oh, at >> yes. After ice cream. Thank you. >> Wait, that's next Friday. Ice cream is next Friday. >> It all got mixed around. >> You're the one that makes ice cream with basketball. >> Anyways, um also mentioned this, but we did have the today and I had my own booth and it went really well. That was super exciting. And I would also like to say that super cool just like a

full circle moment. And some of those um pictures that both Janine and um Evan showed were mine that I had taken. It's kind of really cool to see. And then talk show is next week on Friday. That's next week. >> What time is that? Well, that's in the morning. First, second period, which is 8:30. >> Probably like 9:30. >> Oh, okay. >> They keep changing things on us. It's changed like three times. >> Yeah. Um, first I want to talk about the Puerto Rico trip that happened a few weeks ago. That was very fun and exciting being able to like explore Puerto Rico, see their culture, hear their music and see their dances and stuff. That was really cool. Even though we got stuck there for a couple extra days. >> I was coming home.

>> We were We were more excited to be stuck there, >> honestly. Stuck somewhere. >> I know. But the flights were kind of crazy on the way back because we got like over boats, so we had to be on like three separate flights. It was a mess. But other than that, it was a really good trip and everyone like enjoyed themselves and bonded really close. And then as um Haley said, we had the culture club assembly both Monday and Tuesday. Monday was the parent performance and then Tuesday was the school assembly. So that was fun. I was in the Bollywood dance and then Danny who's in here was in the Latin American dance. So, but it went really good and the videos on YouTube. >> Are you going to show us some Bollywood dancing now?

>> Um just watched the video. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, but that's pretty much all I have. Does anyone have any committee reports? >> Oh, um well um so yeah, I I went to CTC last Wednesday. Um there really wasn't a whole lot um that had to do with West Carolton. of course, always have a lot going on, just not a whole lot with West Carolton this time. Um, and the one paper that I didn't want to talk about does not appear to be in my um bag currently. Um, let me check one more place. There it is. Okay, got it. Nope, that's not it. Um, just something that I thought was um done very well. um is that they do a um a survey where they survey all of the kids before the end

of the break, before the holiday break. So, because I guess there are some kids that don't come back after that. So, they they uh surveyed a total of 1,711 students. Um, and 86% of the students reported that attending CTC was either the best decision I have ever made or that they are satisfied and want to remain enrolled. >> So, I thought that was a pretty good um pretty good, you know, for that. Um, 90 over 96% of students report that CTC is meeting their expectations. Um, and then I know at the beginning of the year you and I kind of had a conversation where the the CTC kids kind of feel disconnected from our apartment school and stuff like that. Um, and so I actually brought it up to everyone on the board saying, "Okay,

do you guys and that seems to be a just everyone. It's not just our kids." Um, what we are seeing what what most people are seeing is that the information is going to the CTC they're just not checking the email. >> So, because you because they have to um guard who can send what to it. So, they would have to check their West Carolton email >> to get the information for West Carolton. They can't combine it because they have to be careful who can has access to the kids. So, that seems to be the biggest problem. One of the classes or one of the teams did say that they now have a CTC rep that is in sits in with their um student council. >> Oh, okay. >> So, that might be a suggestion to

take back to them to see if anyone would be interested in kind of trying to bridge that gap. >> Okay. >> Um just a thought >> and remind them to check their West Carolton email because that makes a big difference. And that's all I have. >> Any other committee reports? Okay. Uh, comments from the superintendent? >> No, I don't have any tonight. We are >> Okay. Comments from the treasur. >> Nothing this evening. >> Okay. Comments from the West Carolton Education Association or the classified employees association. Comments from central office staff. >> Jack. >> Um, nothing today. Okay. >> So, I just wanted to make a few comments about the career fair today and recognize the folks that really put a lot of work into organizing it because it was so great. Um, first of

all, we had close to 60 partners that participated in it and we had, you know, 700 students that went through the career fair during their advisory and um, so I just want to recognize Teresa Allen, Britney Brown, Kelly Sanders, Kim Maghard, and Emily Melman. They just did a tremendous job organizing their career fair. They were very very thoughtful about how they set it up even um up to the way they had organized um recognizing our alumni partners and so students knew who the alumni partners were which was really powerful so they could connect with alumni partners. So, just wanted to recognize them for the work that they put into the career fair at the high school. Um, and then also just saying like the job shadow of the Dragons with the middle school kids. Oh

my gosh, they just had the best time. And um, that was it was just really great to be able to go with them too to see them experience that. And then I want to say um, congratulations to Angie. very well deserved. So, >> all right. Next, uh just reiterate Robinson and our basketball team >> and coach. >> Yeah. >> The same. All right. >> Anyone else have anything tonight? >> I think we'll quit. Okay. I won't be long. I promise. Um I will say I did attend the OSBA regional um um school board um regional spring conference and it was really great. It was really good to see other school boards represented throughout our region. Um and just seeing all the people getting all the really cool awards as individuals or as school boards. So,

I was really glad that was held at Centerville High School and that was really great. And then congratulations. We one we haven't called out is the science of reading. Um so happy for our ECC and them getting that governor's um uh recognition and designation. And then not just for our our varsity boys, but also to our eighth grade girls. Um want to make sure that they're amplified in the space as well for their work. And um lastly, uh point of pre privilege if you don't mind. I'm just saying I'm so excited about this basketball thing. We got Miami playing tonight in our region. So, we're pulling for the Red Hawks and I'm a Howard of Love and they won yesterday. So, we're going to we're doing two for two. And lastly, um not to confuse

you, um Ryan and Leslie in her absence. I know she gets confused with Dr. Townsen Townsen and Thompson. Um I'll be defending my dissertation on April the 1st. So, we'll have two doctors up here very soon by actually the next meeting. Yeah, the next meeting. So that's it. >> Okay. >> And then do you just want me to go real quick too while we're at it? >> Say your favorite quote. >> That's exactly it. I I do want to say uh congratulations to you, of course, this York. And congratulations to all of our sports folks. They did a great job. I also wanted to thank city council. They recognized that coach Parker had a team as well. >> So I wanted to uh thank city council for that. And then I want to say um

I'm praying for the Hatcher family and so and I hope everyone else does as well. They're great people. All of them are. And it's funny. I got a basketball quote >> from a Hall of Fame basketball coach Bob Knight. And it says any Bob Knight fans out here? Is this a real coach? >> It's a real coach. >> I don't know. I don't know anything about sports. So that could be totally wrong. You're asking person that's not and it says >> the key is not the will to win. Everyone has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. >> Thank you guys. >> Perfect way if we're in basketball season. >> Right. >> Exactly. >> And I also wanted to um wish offer our condolences to the Hatcher family. Doug Patrick

coached softball here at the the school for years and his father was the announcer for the softball team and Joe passed away last week. Um and uh in fact his his funeral is this evening. So uh we want to wish let them know they're all in our thoughts and prayers. Um the board will conduct no official business after executive session. >> Okay. So, so, so moved. Second, >> Mrs. Gibson. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. Mrs. Robinson. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. I did
