004in touch with what's happening in the school district you can go to West Carolton schools.com our website Facebook at West Carolton City Schools X at WC City schools and Instagram at wcor City Schools watch for that information that's coming directly from your child school to you you'll get texts emails phone calls you'll also get a weekly District super news fall break there will be no school November 25th through November 29th students return on Monday December 2nd and some of our kindergarten students had a little bit of an early friendship Feast so we have a a little [Music] songs thank you bir [Music] so I think they did a pretty good job the cafeteria was full last night it was two classrooms that um Mrs G Brandt and Miss rigs that hosted and uh it looked

005like a fun event so the annual food drive is happening through Thursday December 5th and you can um contribute any un perishable food item at any school they will collect that for you so earlier in the year I've talked about what what it's like to be a freshman what it's what it was it like for Brad Toby going back and forth between buildings so tonight we have what does it feel like to be a kindergarten student in kindergarten yeah how do you like kindergarten I really like it who's your teacher this V were you a little scared coming to school for the first time earlier this year yeah just a little bit scared but it's all turned out okay right uhhuh so you love kindergarten what have you been learning um about been to to

006to trace them CU those like this video and we sometimes Trac on the carpet and on people what what feels really good okay so this is my new best friend here be safe be respectful be responsible be kind I always talk about be kind so what does it mean to be kind so I brought back Reagan and master her you do to be kind what does kindness mean um be nice to people being nice to people what else um don't yell at oh that's a good one anything else um um play people outside that's really good do you make new friends when you're playing outside um um probably I I don't think so but oh that's good that's good so you have a big brother here too right uhhuh but but he's in third grade

007now yeah he's in third grade and are you kind to him Y is he kind to you um sometimes all the time yeah yeah yeah yeah he sometimes me mean but but my mom T him last night oh that's good that's good so is there anything else you I was you lost a two oh my goodness okay so I think that's all we have to talk about so that's what it's like to be a kindergarten student I love her and and one thing she told me that I didn't film if you look at the picture closely she has one blue eye and one green eye oh yeah she's very unique I love her so what have you done to be kind to someone today the big question and one more thing um Dr Townson doesn't

008know this is coming it's a surprise that always kind of worries her when I do this um earlier in the year when we had convocation the first day for staff we played a video and we got special permission for a song to be used from the band um it's from the band ashes and arrows and they're based out of Asheville North Carolina the song is called The Pirate Song and we had some technical difficulties but we did get it to play and I'm going to play it for you tonight I want to thank them for letting us continue to use it I just received permission and it'll be going up on our Facebook page tonight so here we go well there it was there we [Music] go story me inside [Music] I'll [Music] when through

009the [Music] night the anchor [Music] and break the compass and BL [Music] try [Music] to Dre toing me to be or not [Music] to I'll [Music] be the an [Music] oh are [Music] [Applause] the story that was always [Music] my oh is the Anor and [Music] ra so I'm very excited to share that with you it always makes me smile if I'm having a bad day I just go play this video so um I want to again thank the band for allowing us to use it um one of the nice things right so we're always saying be nice and we appreciate their kindness and allowing us to use it and that's all I have this evening W thank you wow that's incredible well it's amazing because that's exactly why all of us are here right

010it's exactly for everything that's on the video and for the people here and I know it's the same for you guys in there as well I mean that's why we do this is exactly for what that video is so that means a lot I'm happy you played that again that's awesome um I think now we have a presentation and it's uh yeah Mr White all you good evening I'm Mr uh David White the high school principal I was asked tonight to bring uh some of the clubs that we have at the high school and have them share their experiences of what's going on uh so what I did is I asked my my club advisers two or three slides you get your little clicker up here um just to go through talk about it bring

011some kids let them talk to you guys about their experiences with it a lot of times Well it's not a lot of times 99% of the time I'm harping on every single one of my kids about their grades are they where they need to be when they're supposed to be there and the fun stuff I kind of leave to everyone else because I'm pushing achievement so this is a great opportunity for everyone who's watching and sitting here tonight that can see the different experiences the kids get so I'll get out of the way I have the Spanish club is up first Mr TR would you like to come up bring some of your students so you got slides there says uh so here we go um so uh the purpose for our club is like

012to experience some of the Hispanic culture so the objective for the students is to participate and actually live some of their traditions and um like um we were do you guys W to tell them what we were doing come on come on little shop so the camera shop um so so this isabeth I'm Elizabeth um and we do we just celebrate a lot of the traditions and right now we were actually making Pinas for Christmas and this one is um is it then that one those pictures oh um that was for the Day of the Dead and it was in offend so we U put it in the library so that um all the school can like see some the tradition so uh we live them we experience them but that way we can show

013off some um activities and it connects also to our Spanish class so that the students can see you know the some of the projects are actually projects that they have done in the past in Spanish okay so um so we celebrate like also their Heritage um and for our Hispanic students is a way to learn about like the cultures and in a fun way um and for non Hispanic kids you know they get to experience um other different things so right there we are um it's at the end of this the the school year and we make like some webbles uh like those eggs that are fill in and then we have an activity with break our patas that we make around this time and then ition to like uh pick up the eggs kind

014of like an egg hunt but then we crack him on each other's head and okay so some of the activities my name is Tera and some of the uh activities we do is we make a alar for um the high school and we also like learn some of the history um to help support also and we also celebrate the Mexican Independence Day in Christmas and we've watched a movie also about the Hispanic culture and we'll make crafts to help and celebrate the holidays so the one that you seeing right there is um yes that's our pinata that U we made for spongeb and then we crack him later as you saw the pictures so wow thank you very much so one of the things they downplayed is the amount of great authentic Mexican food that

015ends up the tri and usually I make sure I Hall sweep that hallway myself and stay down as much as I can uh Mr grer you guys are up next with the mural Club IED um nobody likes to see old men out ofoc stuff so I brought my friends here to help me um so we practic this afternoon so I'm going to kind of back off and I brought mil hick and L here to speak on behalf and ask for M let [Music] do okay so my name is Milo um I'm a junior at the high school I've been a part of the miral club since my freshman year um and I'm L I'm a senior this year and I believe I've been a part of M Club since my sophomore year I think right

016um all right so our mission statement in the mural Club is to create student driven collaborative art that um showcases our Collective talent and reinforces our values and uplifts not only ourselves but um our community as well all right so there okay so in it's fifth year the West Carolton mural Club has created over 1, 156 36 square fet of student created mural Works um that have been donated all over the school district in the community you might find them like in I think we have definitely a lot in the high school um some in the other schools as well there's one in the library um they're all over there's been over 60 West skleton students that have went through the West skleton new program um and it's not just an art program it's definitely

017an active model to drive our social emotional learning Embrace diversity equity and inclusion um and build students and build students who have the tools to Build a Better Community so you know we do a lot of work in the community so that's definitely um a big part of the real Fus not just painting and draing all the time um so the students in the club um have reported having positive experience and working together actively in improving their environment and being encouraged by their peers to succeed um and 73% of West worlds and club members have have self-reported um the social connections as the most important aspect followed by the inclusiveness and emotional support so we do a lot of like group things together like our big Ms obviously can't just be one person so we

018all have to kind of collaborate and explain to each other like what our personal goals are not just like you know what Mr G wants us to do because it's not always about him he can go to so you know we definitely challenge him sometimes for sure but we it's about you know working together working as a community um to build these um and then academically the wests and newor club members have self-reported um the creative problem solving that they engage in in newor club um has benefited their language arts their social studies Science and Mathematics studies so it's very um helpful for not just like improving our art skills but it's very important for you know all aspects of our school you know I know personally um it's been very helpful like it's definitely

019a drive for me to come to school in the first place um because it's where I do a lot of like my learning and like my um social life kind of stuff and so this year um we have been commission not Commission don't get paid to do it um to make um a mural for the um dayt and brick shop and so we are creating a Lego themed mural um for their Community event room um this mural will um feature characters from the Lego worlds of Batman and Marvel Superheroes Harry Potter Star Wars Lego City and Lego Friends is um 8T tall and 32t long wide um and it'll be one of the largest murals that we have created um and it has 40 distinct characters and locations including Gotham City Hogwarts Castle and the

020Ghostbusters Firehouse um you click it one more time and that is um us actively painting the line work and actually painting on the mural um yeah I think that's where done there's our out so students from the M Club have attended the National Coalition for Community Justice the VA Team Summit AT right State University this year um and students have also volunteered to decorate our partner facility the Lal Nursing Home in West Carlton um for trick Traders so this is now I think one of the few times that we've worked with the nursing home it's been pretty good we're do pretty good for um and we've uh celebrated the Halloween costumes and pumpkin decorating I see up there um and students have also continued to work on the social justice neurals that will be auctioned

021off as a fundraiser fundraiser um at the artfest this year so um are tying into you know the social emotional aspect of it um and our community aspect is so we work on these social justice murals which kind of bring I guess um they bring awar like different issues surrounding our not just our community but our world So like um that one is of Frank Zaba who is a um he's an artist who's brought a lot of awareness to a lot of different things and then um that is another one that my friend Bri is working on um and so we've done a whole bunch of ones like this um and they help raise money at arest and so we have other um smaller projects at the same time such as these totem boards that

022we see we often start like a lot of um our newer members of the mural Club on these totem boards um which helps them so like kind of get an understanding for what they're doing what Mir is about um stuff like that okay and so our upcoming events we have um a holiday this one I'm actually really passion about this semester um is the holiday card drive that will give to we'll give um holiday cards to the residence and staff at The Laurels nursing home um and we'll also have a series of luns um with speakers from the Montgomery County prevention Council in preventative measures for teen suicide drug and alcohol abuse I know we'll be having two next month and then I think the following ones will be next year um and we will

023be participating in the NHS holiday event doing face painting and holiday ornament decorating and we are also planning um to plan a couple field trips to other world in the dayt and art institute and then along with this we are also going to be organizing 2025 artfest um and we'll plan this with other students staff parents and alumni and then um I believe the goal of this is um to provide a scholarship to a graduating senior um who is going to pursue the performing in Visual Arts in the future all we got I while you guys switch I just have to say you guys even have graphs that was impressive has any of you guys or have any of you guys been to other world before you guys have some of you haven't it's a

024really awesome experience you guys are absolutely going to love it that a really cool place keep going all right this is one of my favorites uh you know the nice thing about the M mural club that covers all four grades it's a lot of kids um there's a lot of movement in the building that requires them to be responsible and I think from last year to this year it's night and day of how they go there they're zeroed in we're focused in on the mural work and all the artwork that they do so it's it's been an asset to have in the building for sure this club coming up I Judy's the the one running it but it's as a former gardener this is close to my heart to see the kidss out there working

025so Judy can you and your team come up or your Club come up and talk about the G Club first of all I didn't know I was going to be speaking so um I'm not really good at this but the Garden Club is something I've wanted for many years you guys know that we started this Garden in 2015 2016 trying to save the greenhouse and um this year we have um had a lot of struggles with getting the Garden in um but instead of having a large Harvest this year I have a large harest behind me and it is about relationships with these kids showing them the food is grown and listening being able to listen to the kids and I'm going to let them introduce themselves and the grade they're in and one Ethan

026wants to speak a little bit about what we're doing my name is Tristan I'm more of a newer person I'll be honest but I've tried my own things one of the problems that I've came in with with gardening club is growing corn I tried going that yeah it was not great you ever heard of the corn smut that's a thing that is an actual thing yeah that's an actual thing corm it's like this weird cancerous thing that goes on corn like mold I didn't know that so I started growing it and started happening so I got to actually experience that and learn that with Miss Judy I would have never ever experienced that in my life without M JY what grade are you in I'm a senior senior and she's honestly been there with not

027just gardening with all of us she's been there for helping us through life she's helped me with my omj forms with trying to find a a trade school she felt help me find Hobart to go on the trip and everything like that where I'll be going Hobart paying good money and thanks to her that's my future prob antio hi I am Reese I a ninth grader at sklon high school this is my first year in gardening club it's been a really nice lovely experience that I've had mostly because I really like making people really like growing plants and I feel like this is a very good way to bring a bunch of people together over something we can collectively all share and the fact that we can all collectively come together and just help grow

028food and connect with each other socially is something I really like Hello uh I'm Jacob Webster I'm a new student here at West Carlton High School I recently came down from Cincinnati from akan high school which also has a nice agricultural program there they have goats and they have plants but coming here to see their uh what skeleton's agriculture group it's much more social than aens was you know I got to uh new friends here you know and I've heard nothing but good about Miss Judy here and even today we had a nice time before we came here you know um agriculture group here I I I am interested in seeing how I can grow my I'm sorry gardening skills I guess there's another word for that I apologize but I I find it need

029that they have a group here and I can just learn to garden and make new stuff you know if learn how to be delicate with plants you know see what goes with what uh but overall most important thing about this for me personally has been the social aspect meeting new friends and people and getting out there and doing new things thank you um hello my name is Conor papis I'm a freshman here uh and I've actually been active in the Garden Club for about 3 to four years cuz my brother Ethan he introduced me to it I'd say gardening club is to be honest mostly about community and um sorry because we've been donating a lot of our crops to mum food pantry um and honestly it's just been an honor to be able to

030meet Miss Judy and all these wonderful people behind me um uh was it Hydroponics yeah we started working on hydroponics recently um trying to learn how you know you can grow food within like water and stuff and it's just really awesome to be able to learn all this new stuff about gardening hi my name is Noel roer um the reason why I join gardening club is was because it helped me me less stressed from school also I really like gardening club because it helped me with my uh social anxiety that I have for ging for for people at least so I got to he with my friends all all these people and they help and they help me like they introduced me how to growing tomatoes and crops and stuff it also it was really

031good because my little sister uh try she really wanted to be in Club so in like growing plants and stuff so I I was like why not why not just go there for my little sister I did so that was that a good experience also I love Miss Julie so she's a great she's a really good director for gardening club I think she should still be there more hello my name is it's my first year I Garden Club when I was here and I'm in ninth grade Garden Club was like a good like I met a lot of awesome people and I GRE we like grew a we grew some tomatoes and like plants and all that great good evening everybody my name is Ethan papis and first of all I'd like to shout out

032all these people um back here behind me because I was the only who knew they were going to speak today and they made that all up on the spot just appuse it's very surprising how they're able to just come up here and speak to you guys today um and they did it because they just wanted to make something interesting for you guys um what I have here is just basically like a committee reports sort of what we did this year other year it's very boring um I also kind of to talk about myself but it's not that good anyways um I'm a senior at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center uh but West Carolton is my home school I went there my I did classes there my so sophomore and freshman years and my Junior

033and senior years I spent in the natural resource program at um mvcdc um I've been helping Judy and the school's community garden for four years before our club was found along with my brother um and for this year's Harvest uh we've been dealing with high temperatures in ground toogs which are not ideal for gardening um not at all we also have some rats sneak into the greenhouse um but we still managed to grow 475 pounds of fresh produce to donate this year um furthermore we've raised 6,135 lbs since 2017 is close to about 1,000 pounds per year and I'm glad to be a part of this accomplishment working with Judy has allowed me to help my community while while learning to be responsible and hardworking it also has influenced my decision to be a student

034at Miami Valley Career Technology Center so I can pursue a further career in working outdoors and with wild life [Applause] I didn't we have anybody from the game club that game tonight okay so what I I want to do something because I know you guys I told you 6:30 and you could leave um if Mr groer Judy uh M TR can you guys stand up you three no one has any idea how much time sacrifice energy patience just just the stick and stay of working a full day and then doing this so can we give these three round of can I ask a quick question of of you guys um how many kids are in your clubs I know a lot of you are represented here mural club I'm assuming from the three we just

035saw is the biggest so the mural Club has currently 33 sophomores um and 35ish Junior and seniors so we average about 60 to 80 students per semester um and they tend to stay in it for that so yeah and that's kind of been the kind of that number has been about the same I split it up into two days to sophomores and two days to Juniors just to turn down the volume on the clown show a little [Music] bit Garden Club how big are you guys we have about 20 but eight that come regularly and there's a difference between Garden Club and Mr R's Club my club meets after school so 3 to 430 3 to 4:15 something like that a lot of times I with during the school day um I'm all the time

036my door is like a re door and these kids find me wherever I am in the building kind of not something that I can't hide um I will tell you one student that isn't here well actually too I have a student that was homeschooled with me last year she's now at right State and then another student that um actually took leaks potatoes uh ches from the garden and made soup and Tristan which is back there in the back corner and those two found me in the hi and P room just to give me that soup in the morning and I'm like supposed to be Mr White's going to get you to so it's it's something that I have kids every lunch period in my room or with me somewhere but mine meets after school wow

037Club um we typically have about like 10 kids in previous years um this year our attendance is a little like lower than that um but we meet like once or twice a month and we do different activities depending what the students want to do um you know like in the past that helped some of the students um to with like the college applications and things like that um but we try to to what activities they might want to experience um so that they can have um some you know sometimes when when kids are here um it's difficult to experience like a um more authentic um activities cultural activities so yeah so this year we're a little lower in numbers you know sometimes you have a lot of uh seniors that graduate that bring a lot

038of energy and then you know it just fluctuates EXC thank you guys so much I didn't want to leave out our game club um this group meets a couple times a month um matter of fact it's on Fridays U last time they had it I came through I was clearing out the building and I was getting I thought why are they hiding in the library I was coming in and when I tell you the laughter and the and the games that they were playing the conversations they were having it was real similar to what everyone just talked about tonight and it's another different group of kids that have a club uh this is one of my favorite pictures they sent me they were they were playing Dungeons and Dragons and that's Mr cornette so he

039jumped in and played and they were so loud and laughing so hard I kept coming back in I'm like there's no way this is the same game but they played for like three hours so even the game club it's a smaller group but they meet and they have a good time and and it's all fun um we also have some support clubs we have the gay straight Alliance Club um that works a lot about U inclusive things Mr Reynolds runs that and then we have the FCA The Fellowship of Christian athletes Club um they meet there's Donuts they do those types of of you know camaraderie things or where they come together for some fellowship the nice thing is and that's it is I I try to explain to people when as you all know

040traveled a lot of spots so I always had people say you know what's West Carolton like and I I said I need you all to listen because my group of kids are the next set of leaders when their Generations it's their turn to take over we're in really good hands like there's days where I wonder what my parents' generation what my generation are doing what they're saying and how they're acting but if anybody came and saw what you got guys just experienced in the last 30 minutes we're an Eclectic group of people who love each other and like spending time with each other and they're learning right we all have A's grades are du tomorrow right I'm check checking grades tomorrow but that's but that's where as a principal I can focus in on that

041where all of the staff members are doing their part and giving them these extra experiences so I I I'm so happy everybody came tonight and I know I'm past that time but it it just I hope everybody sees how good our kids are and how good our staff is and how good the schools is running right now yes I knocked on that so thank you oh the robotics team I asked for nobody s we do have a we do we have two two I'm sorry robotics come up I'm sorry thank you I said it too you know what I work on the communication right I sent it we'll on it all right come on Van I just sent you a slideshow like an hour ago pull that up years hi everybody we're from the robotics

042team um obviously some people didn't know supposed to be here but we all are so all right hi guys I'm Cohen I am a junior and I've been doing robotics my freshman year I am currently the teams League programmer and electronic technician and I'm Kristen and I've only been on the robotics team for this season but I do marketing stuff so yep and yeah we get the slides show up we will show everything that we have to offer but basically robotics is um our school's robotics team has run to the uh uh first robotics competition which is a international organization which pushes stem into schools in different areas of the world so America Israel um like Korea all these places is where we can have stem and yeah Sor yeah we do that oh yes

043awesome what yikes whatever the images aren't loading because servers are not good yeah but basically first organization that promotes them by commending the EXC the sport with the rigor of science and technology so um I have a video that will show you what I'm talking about but robotics goes beyond robots most of the time it's about building a community of people that are likeminded and so to join you don't have to have any experience in the mentors there are we'll teach you everything you need to know our mentors are like at the best of the field senior engineers in the military Civic engineers and all these other people it also allows teams from all around the world to come together and share their information it may not look like it but FRC actually has The

044Cutting Edge of Technology after their disposal and it's just a miniaturized version of a real so uh every single season or year we a different theme or for our competition and we have the ability robot from scratch to complete some sort of goal whether placing an object shooting an object into a goal um and usually the robot has to be built to for Speed or whatever it strategy is um so yeah we use very very sophisticated technology like that that we used in like actual military civics or whatever it is we just use a miniaturized kind of simplified version of it um and it's pretty much as close to real Engineers you're going to the same programs mathematics computer science ideas everything is the same just on a different scale um each team comes together

045makes this brand and promotes itself to try and get to uh the World Championships national championships and really just prove that no matter where you are in life you can do stem tell what you did last year uh last year we made a robot that shoots had to shoot a ring into a u goal and our robot used something called AI Vision AI vision used that in a bunch of mathematics to get the computer to drive itself so the computer drove the robot itself we had um a bunch of different things inl so that the robot could know where it was on the field and what it was doing we use very very sophisticated controllers and all this other stuff to build our robots and that's what we do every single year and as technology

046improves we have to adapt to that new tech to be able to compete with other teams um so why should you join the robotics team um you explore your technical passion and you can also explore other things um for instance I join because of marketing and I do um I I just generally like marketing um I well but I do like marketing I love marketing actually um and I love being able to make creative things see how many likes things get and then see like okay what what works best to um to engage students in our club um you can honestly you can just join the club and see what there is for you you can do what he does which is that's like that's like the robotics robotics right and then I do I

047do the marketing stuff which is you don't have to know anything about that to to do that you can learn from a YouTube video right you can learn how to do any of this from any of the mentors they are so good at teaching um just that's why they're mentors they're really good at teaching um and are I can't even but and not only will students learn more about evolving technology they will be prepared for the workforce learning the value of teamwork perseverance and gracious professionalism so yeah so I mean and it's it's a great place to make friends um and also making friends that have different um interests like me and him like he he is interested in math and like robots and I have no idea but like we would never think that

048you know like we would connect but we did right but that's you know you don't think about that but we do so I think it's a really great place to go if you you know don't have anywhere else to be or if you just want to join a club just to just to join a club oh it worked okay do you want to talk about that yeah so that's a video I don't know if we can get to play with this remote well I don't know how to do that I don't know let's see oh no so that's not how you make play yeah I don't we try this this will show you everything that we just talked about in like kind of like 30 seconds uh this is our video from our 2023 bot

049this bot had to balance on a teer totter and place cubes and Cones on uh stands and different level poles the video that we are going to show you is of the robot balancing itself and placing an object maybe no maybe not okay we don't need it you explained it right yeah that's okay okay it's all right I'll just I'll just do the SL okay so the importance of Robotics stem is the future and it's up to this generation to invest themselves it's a pathway to Greatness and the lessons students take away from these kinds of programs are something that can't be taught in classroom do you want to talk about that because you do more St than I do yeah so basically um for our students I know that Mr why has been pushing

050stem our school with the introduction of our physics classes and this is a really great addition to those classes so what students are going to be learning in this classes are very very applicable I know I would I PE my head in there they're talking about electricity and friction and all these different things and all those things are very very applicable to what we're doing like exactly the same I'm in I'm currently in calculus and what we're doing in math class I'm doing the exact same thing almost verbatim like in this robotics so it's it's very interchangeable so that those classes will help you robotics robotics mentors and students will deepen your understanding and then that actually is reflected in your grades especially in those science and math classes and that can even these problem

051solving skills will carry over to pretty much every subject no matter what it is and like I said these values are something that cannot be taught in a classroom and that can only come from this kind of this type of community work and that's why think them is so important not only because it is the future but it is the best way in my opinion for students to connect Lear about the workforce and work ethic and all these other great things that they're going to need for later in their life that's it that's it okay three SL who are your advisers right now uh So currently we do not have any Miss mcgu is our uh faculty adviser all our other ones are from the military or a cic and Miss Miss Reynolds Miss Reynolds

052is also our faculty yes shees your head huh you stick your head and B yeah well that's incredible well we appreciate all of you guys coming really it means the RO to us is there anyone that has any comments or anything I will say the robotics team influenced my son when he he was there the year rookie year you had the club and um because of which surprised us because he was always more of an athlete he didn't participate in in some of the other clubs he joined and now he works on aircrafts in the military so that club inspired him Mr mcneel that year and um I inspired him to go into that so it can affect future sure can so I have never heard of corn smut however I didn't try my hand

053at growing corn about 3 years ago I got one stalk with one ear that was about that big and we all enjoyed two and a half kernels so I learned something new tonight sounds like you needed to join gardening club and J does do an amazing job I've seen it first she's done that for years a rock for sure and the amazing m I just I love them they pretty incredible toar the the one in the library are we going to I know it's been there for a little bit are we going to I was just at the library so uh we play D play uh we play other games but we mostly focus on D oh okay yeah Oh you mean for the game club oh really yeah isn't that a really cool Club

054most most of the time people really want to burn their houses burn down the village they always seem like they're having so much fun should be turn yeah I I I play I play D&D one time and that's exactly what I did so I know our club number is Ellie so I alwaysa we like online on D we just me and her are friends so we always just like play D it was like wow well that's incredible well we'll give you guys a few minutes if you want to get out of here because now it's going to get really boring so if you guys want to you go stay dry it sounds to our advisors really thank you guys so much amazing you have a top oh must all all right well everyone shuffles out

055here we we'll get moving on to uh number nine which is for you Ryan thank you ask the board approve items 9 a and 9B as presented I need Motion in a second second um is there anything I see we have a little thing here that's the next item that's the next item uh just regarding the financial reports um on the cover page like these are the reports through the end of October so I all all I've been doing the first four months is just comparing the first four months of this year the first four months of last year um moving forward um the format of the cover page will change um because I'll start on a monthly BAS is comparing um what actually happened during the month to to the monthly estimate and the

056monthly estimate ties into to the 5year forast basically just to see we'll track month by month how we end up um at the end of June compared to to the forecast so just want to point that out all right I think we're ready for a roll call Mr well yes Mr Money yes Mr sh yes Mrs Gibson yes all right moving on to item 10 again it's urine now it now it deals with the this little thing right ask at the board approve the fiveyear financial forecast as presented oh yeah motion second sove second all right so what do we have here uh seven pages of graphs and information I'll try to get through real quick um so the first page is the it's our general fund um so the 5year forecast is done by

057all districts across the state and has to be done by the end of November and the end of May um so it involves only our general fund so the cover page just kind of big picture shows our general fund balances the the Top Line um is our general fund balance at the end of June for all years starting back in June of 2000 then the projections out through FY 29 which is June 2029 right now we are in fy2 which is highlighted in yellow over on the right side um so we're in the 24 25 school year so that's saying that we're projected to end June with um about the $24 million budget and then looking straight down there's a five and what the five means is that is that that $24 million would cover

058about five months of the next year's expenses um and as you can see this fy2 it's the it's the ninth straight year um where our cash balances have gone up we're we're spending less than our Revenue so that has been a good thing obviously um our last Levy was back in 2016 and so we've been off the ballot for eight plus years and trying to keep that number growing as long as we can um page page two is just a little bit of information pi up from the Ohio School Board conference that we went to recently um the main things I highlighted at the top you know our forecast is very dependent on on state funding and the point that the guy was making with um with this SE with this graph is that come

059springtime when the state legislature is talking about the new two-year state budget that starts July 1 um you the state the state is likely to be saying that you know they're not they're not in terrible shape but but they're not sitting on a ton of cash and they're not going to be it's going to be a tight budget is kind of the message that we're thinking that the state's going to be um saying next spring as they set the budget um that will start July 1 sorry the third page um what the third page is doing is just summarizing um all of our other major funds that help pay for personnel cost um state and federal grants and and the point is that in fy2 24 we were about 5.5 million this year we're at

0602.8 so there's a decrease of about 2.7 million and 2.35 five of that 2.7 is is because the Esser Esser funds expired and I mean we've known that um you the SR funds basically had to be spent by uh the end of this September so um the point is is that our federal and state grants as a whole are have decreased a lot from the previous year so that 2.7 the $2.7 million of costs that were being funded by these grants now gets has to get added to our general fund budget so um it's a big reason why our estimated spending for this year is higher than it's was in previous years um page four in the top section under number one state funding and enrollment um you our forecast is as I mentioned it's

061very dependent on what happens with State funding and and state funding obviously is affected by um the financial situation of the state and it's also affected by our enrollment um so right now we're we're in fy2 kind of right in the middle of there and you can see at FY 24 um we did get a nice 10 10% bump in our state funding and then this year we got about a 7% bump because all of our students are uh because of the the C because of all the the free and reduced lunch districtwide so now you we're able to code all of our kids as 100% economically disadvantage but but that also um gave us a a nice boost in our general fund State funding so that contributed to the 7% increase uh this year

062and then moving forward um you know it's kind of anybody's guess but in so in the forecast I have um about a 3.6% increase next year and then the following year staying flat so um that's that's just the estimate that that's in place now um item number two is just just a reminder about the Esser funds uh we moved $2 million uh from Esser into the general fund in FY 24 and then um about 2.3 million had to be added back into the general fund budget here this year um item number three is just big picture to showing our projected spending um so shows the 23 actual 24 actual and then the budget this year at about 51.3 million and then increasing about 54.4 million next year and then down at the bottom um item

063number four is just pointing out that uh Pace increases for negotiations are not in the forecast um we we will have discussions with the unions in the spring for for contract negotiations just for one year that starts July 1 and um and then just to point about this is a nice straight year that our revenues have exceeded our expenses page five is so this is just a big just big picture summary um of the numbers that are in our forecast um as I mentioned right now we're in fy2 and you can see fy2 is pretty close to break even and the blue line is the projected revenues and um you know our our real estate taxes basically stay flat until voters approve a levy and and with the uncertainty of school funding that's kind of

064why the our projected revenues are pretty flat um but with all schools as you you know with inflation and and cost of living and so forth um you your your expenses are going to increase each and every year just just due just due to that and then that U that leads to projected deficit spending and basically every forecast across the state of Ohio and then um the bottom half is just shows the projected deficits that we would be looking at if this forecast played out um this way and Page Six is the same information but the top half just has the projected balances um out through FY 29 and the bottom half is is is those numbers expressed in the months of cash so um so like this year we're looking at um ending the

065year with um a little bit more than five months um and then as a general rule um governments across the United States you know they they like to always maintain at least a minimum of two or three months you know there's there's no you know there's not a text answer but um but you know the point is just you know we'll we'll be deficit spending in the future just the goal is just to minimize it and um and and not not let it get as large as what the forecast is showing and final page is the actual forecast itself um the forecast has three years of historical information on the left side this current year is in the middle f 25 and then and then it goes out to FY 29 which is June of

0662029 um so we'll we'll update this forecast in in May and um and that's it's a six-month process and um so it's just the forecast that exist now we um we board approval for it and then we submit it to the state and then we um monitor it and update in Spring and that's about it wow thank you for that affirmation um I think we're ready for a roll call Mr Mundy yes Mrs shley yes Mrs Gibson yes Mr lell yes all right moving on to item 11 we have uh Personnel items de good evening superintendent recommends that the board approve the listed Personnel items 11a through 11 I it doesn't work fine all right can I get a motion in a second please a second all right anything to add or is it just

067typical I would say pretty typical um except item 11 e uh we're welcoming um a past pair professional back as she is going through uh her student teaching so we're hoping that we can keep her after she successfully completes her student teaching as a special school education teacher in her middle school that's actually where she was a pair of professional in the same I see we have a few 11 I always like to call out to the other one I coming coming back that's MF so that's always good to see always good to see any other discussion Mr mending yes Mrs shy yes Mrs Gibson yes Mr dwell yes all right back to you de for more Personnel items the superintendent recommends that the board approve the listed Personnel items 12a through 12d all right

068can I get a motion second second anything to add for this one all right we'll move on to a roll call then Mrs shley yes Mrs Gibson yes Mr yes Mr Money yes all right moving on to item number 13 with a service agreement with the escy good evening superintendent recommends that the board approve as presented the 2425 service agreement with the Green County Education Service Center for the academic Academy program sorry all right can I get a motion a second second anything to add with uh GRE County similar to Warren County Montgomery County provide extension of our um L for students who need more support fantastic all right roll call please Mrs Gibson yes Mr yes Mr Money yes Mr sh yes all right and that get back to you for service agreement sure

069the superintendent recommends that the board approv has presented the service agreement with I am boundless Incorporated with respect to the education program for student for the period beginning November 1st through May 29 2025 all right Motion in a second please moov second have we done this before no this is new okay um so we'll see how it goes it's just another option and the nice thing is it's right in our community so student nice all right any other discussion all right we ready for a roll call Mr L yes Mr Money yes Mr sh yes Mrs Gibson yes all right item number 15 it's a transportation contract for Jack yeah the superintendent recommends the board approv as presented the transportation contract with senior assistance to transport a student to and from Green county educ ational

070Center um at in belbrook Ohio for the 2425 school year all right motion a second all right just we've done this quite a bit this year y all right easy enough I think we're ready for a roll call then Mr Mundy yes Mr sh yes Mrs Gibson yes mrw yes all right item number 16 with nutrition regulations yeah basically we're asking that the board approve a resolution that the West Caron school district is compliant with the state of Ohio nutrition regulation as presented right second second this is another typical yep yep say that we're complying with the free to reduce lunch program that we will only serve those F that are approved fantastic all right ready for the roll call Mr Mundy yes Mr sh yes Mrs Gibson yes Mr Wellman yes and then we

071have our dendam which is the lfl with shook that would be you jack yep yep the superintendent recommends of the board approve as presented the resolution for GMP LFO 1.5 which sh construction company for the building and ground package for the LFO portion of the capital Improvement project that was a mouthful a all right can I get a motion in a second please second all right okay and this is I brought this up at the last meeting this is the building that sits out there at the corner of central Lane and Stadium uh the grounds building uh next to the new 24 elementary and in the building permit package the city said you need to upgrade that building and repaint it fix it up so it looks just as nice as the school next to

072it so this will pay for that um this Project's coming in just over $91,000 on this um to do it and it's new garage doors paint on the outside closing up all the windows and putting a new door in it um and new concrete around it and by doing that um the initial estimate we had was like 110,000 so we came in we negotiated down to get down about 91 so that's a pretty good deal real good deal wow all right any other comments all right I think we're ready for the roll call Mrs shley yes Mrs Gibson yes Mr lell yes Mr M yes all right I think we're moving right along to reports does St reps have any good reports yeah all right right on ahead okay so um the round table that

073all three of us attend uh we I talked about this last meeting um we were sending emails to Representatives um about House Bill 445 um I think that was not this Monday but last Monday that they were talking about that in the yeah so so what we sent yeah before Monday um so we sent them and we have so far got um a few respons responses from I mean a few of them were automatic responses but some of them some of them were um actual responses um supporting our stance um on the bill and um well on the change to the bill um and yeah so that's pretty exciting um and then with the carrying closet we did the uh the sock Drive type thing um where we gave students sock socks at lunch Free

074socks um two weeks ago two Fridays ago and that was really good we ran out of socks and at first people were really confused they kind of looked at it and they were like what is this table doing here there's a poster on it there's socks everywhere what's going on and then people would come back out and get socks CU they they'd say can I come back out when I put my stuff down and get a few and theyd come in and they'd be like hm which one should I get should I get the pink ones and then some people actually came up and we actually got um a few people who uh didn't know about the caring closet and ended up needing stuff and we ended up being able to tell them hey go

075down to you know what was it like 300's office and sign up um to get some stuff and they were like oh my gosh I really need that some people actually requested some um products so we're going to work on getting some of that um but it was it was successful and I think we're going to do it again this Friday um yeah it reached a lot of people and I would love to try to reach you know other like I feel like if we do it again then people will you know look forward to it and then they'll feel like they didn't just do this one time just for you know Giggles they did it they do it because they're they care you know so I think we're going to do it again we

076have a lot of toothbrushes so I feel like that would be a good thing we have um we have a lot of hair brushes as well so yeah I think we're going to do that and we're going to keep doing this um um and we will let the community know if we need anything for those but so far right now we are good because we've we've got a lot of support from people but yeah that's all I have to say do you guys have anything yeah okay um adding on to the caring closet we sent out a staff email a couple weeks ago um and we did get some responses back on that we got some more donations from things so the staff is aware that that's going on now so I think that's helping

077a lot for sure get some awareness out um and then um yeah just the food drive is going on right now in the district and um you can I think today was the last day but we have the dodgeball tournament at high school on Friday um so you could donate can goods to get into that and that will go to a charity so and then I think it's whoever seven period collects the most yeah we we went a pizza party and I definitely think maybe the people have period is going to win it just say whatever guess what we miss Morris she carried she brought a lot I'm telling you now like her entire Trump was full good to know good to know okay that's all we have I have a few questions enough um

078the items so you said people were requested some items what were some so we had one person actually request um she asked us um if we had any curly hair products and I think that's you know that's as somebody I have like wavy hair and I didn't know that my hair like even had that until I had the right product and so I think um so I think yeah we'll probably look into getting some I actually did buy some from a um um like in bulk I bought some from a a garage sale because somebody had I guess there those people who buy things in bulk and then resell them and you know bags and stuff yes and so they had this big bag of like you know curl you know Curl products curl styling

079Curl products so I bought that I still I have not brought it in yet and I'm going to try to contact her through email I do not remember what her name was but I'm going to I'm going to find her and give her her curly hair products but yeah um but yeah so somebody asked for that and I hope that the next time that we do that we we actually have people ask you know if if they need something specific because I would love to know what we you know didn't think of because what oh on the sock bags there it said you've been socked so and it gave the information on how to sign up for the how amazing you know I never even thought about products for different people because like when we

080did our first round I was just kind of thinking of my hair and what I need for my hair but there's so many different hair types and just how they work well you know my hair is just always so nice so you know like that's all I know about is that type of right I never even thought about that well you guys know as well don't forget we have the $1,500 Grand yes and I will be expecting my money back no I'm just [Laughter] so you I mean definitely you guys can take advantage of that gr and get what products you would think that people need or people request like the curly hair products to keep forgetting turn this mic on so all those listening I was just mentioning about curly hair products but early

081hair products yes but yeah no that is uh that's definitely really really interesting I never even thought about that I'm glad I found that bag though it had a lot in it and it was like $3 or something like that really I was like yeah definitely take advantage of that grand of possible and then have you guys thought about like putting a name on it or is it still just going to be the current coloss yeah I thought that was I guess it could be the I thought we were going to make it like you know I don't know like a pirate thing maybe you want to keep it what what did you just say yard it was a joke chill I was I was thinking like dve Jones Locker or something [Music] wow all

082right we'll move thank you thank you thanks um something like that yeah and then um do we have any committee reports anyone I have one you want to go sure all right so way back on November 13th um we had the um District leadership team thank you so much I put DLT like I was going to remember what that meant right um and so that is done is it quarterly five times a year five times a year um and so this particular one um it was looking at there is a most of you probably don't know this because I'm up here and I didn't know it um there's a program called Panorama um and that this thing collects data like none other um it tells you how many times a child sneezed while they were

083in class um so that you can analyze that and look at that I'm joking about the sneezing thing but I mean it looks at everything and so uh we spent that Prim primarily that that uh time just looking at uh Trends and and how this connects with this and and what we need to see with this number how it connects to this number and and all that kind of stuff and just kind of look at that data going okay now we have this what do we do with it and how do we make this work for us so um it's it's it's extremely complicated um it's it's not just a simple our our teachers um are earning their bucks um and it was it was very enlightening to be able to see just how detailed

084this program was and everything that it could uh just just kind of put together anything you want to add to that Julie no it's it's very customizable so um we've been over the last couple years putting um more data in things that we want to see taking um recommendations from teachers and principles and so um it's it's an amazing company to work with because we we can feed it anything and they they make it work so um yeah it's been it's been great so it's we've been building it over the last few years um still more more to do but sneez thing yes I can start charting that yes okay it could be helpful nice um does anyone else I I have something small which is not really that small no all right so of

085course with the legisl update we're in lame duck session so that means there's a lot of things that they're going to try to get in at the end of their the term here so um one thing I was going to mention is the house and the Senate both have session scheduled uh the Senate has five sessions scheduled while the house only has three um so there's there'll be a lot going on with that here sooner than later um and something I found out was there's over 190 bills that impact public Ed pending right now in uh between the house and the Senate and all the Committees and blah blah blah so obviously it's a big Focus it's a big focus in our budget as well a lot of the budget money goes to public schools

086and it's just going to be an interesting thing to see how all these bills kind of come together at the end of the lame duck session um and see exactly what goes through a few of them to uh to definitely mention is um you know the house bill8 which is parent Bill of Rights um which gives parents the right for choices over a child um it it seems like it's really moving quick and those are usually the type of bills that you will see things get add on to it um you know kind of backpack it in so um that's something that we're kind of looking for is to see if they're going to add anything into that bill as it moves forward I know um House Bill 445 which you guys talked about and

087had opin is about as well um to go to religious instruction um you know it's one of those were I think I don't know if they attached it to another bill yet there's a second bill um 293 thank you that's okay because I'm like I'm pretty sure that they're adding that in somewhere else so 29 that's but that's the Senate right but that's in the Senate um now with the Senate um they have sended Bill 104 which uh does a little bit with the CCP program um but it added House Bill 183 which is the bathroom bill um you know you guys can look into that um so that's going to be interesting to see and that's the thing is when they start adding bills into other bills it it does it takes a little

088bit to track and to really stay on top of I know it's a hoot for me to try to stay on top of some of these and it's kind of like my commit something you I'm supposed to be doing so um CER Bill 295 um it's in the education committee um but it's going to be uh talking about requirements for uh poor performing schools for closure which is yeah I'm like I don't even know how that's gonna happen but I guess they're going to revive some oh really I never even I didn't even know that was an option but I guess they're revising it so they must be trying to make option that's going to be an interesting one I know um of course they had the special committee for school buses and safety and

089all that um and they did a lot of really amazing stuff with trying to actually come together and come out with like really decent Solutions um I think with everything and all the science and all that they came within that committee um I know they wanted to do the seat belts but now they're looking to fund schools with safety enhancements other than forcing everyone to do seat belts on buses CU that would be a lot for schools um to have that so I'm excited to see um how that fund is going to look for safety enhancements on school buses um I think that's a really good opportunity for us to find different ways to you know if it's like different cameras to catch Speeders or whatever people passing the buses to you know other ways

090to make buses is more safe for our kiddos um I'm excited to see how that goes and then they also added penalties um you know for people you know passing by school bus when uh kids are being dropped off which is something that I've been a big advocate for you know really up those penalties so people can very quickly learn that safety is number one especially for our kids um the last one I'll quickly talk about is uh cin Bill 29 I think a lot of people know about s Bill 29 just because after a pass it created a lot the issues when it comes to well it's already a law right just notification and stuff so they're coming back and they're trying to clarify things change some rules and uh take away some other

091um different rules and stuff that relates that bill so um we'll see exactly what they're going to try to change um they know that a lot of schools and systems are kind of unhappy with some of the processes that they kind of put in so um we're hoping to uh to see good uh good movement there um but other than that that's pretty much all I got for the legislative update and of course there's 190 like I said earlier that relate to this these are just the ones that are kind of Hot Topic right now um other than that I guess uh we'll move on to comments from the superintendent Miss um just a little bit more about sen Bill 129 it went into law October 24th um the original intent of the law was

092to protect children from having their information shared from third party vendors which we as Educators were fine with that you know we don't want act or sat or clever any of the programs we use selling our kids information somewhere along the lines um it encroached into schools last minute where we now have to notify parents every time we access your students information through grading through um any of our platforms School Technology which people that you might just be the computer but it's our software too so and it's not one notice a day or just one random notice that's every time we do it so if a teacher is grading your paper on a device they now need to no by the parent so I mean it's very time consuming um I've done I've done the

093notification the mass notification our teachers are aware we're following our legal advice of our attorneys um we are fingers crossed that this part of the legislation will be stopped and then the governor will sign off on it we'll have an emergency um termination of the school part of it because it's things that we're already doing anyhow so our teachers use technology our kids use technology um and for us to have to report it every single time is I don't I don't even have words for it it's and um so that being said I was hoping as I was getting all these text messages that that was what we were learning about but no we learned um who became in charge of everything for next year so um but the other things I have is the

094clubs I'd like to than the kids in Club advisers for coming in um Spanish club always has great food the mural Club did not tell you this but they have a $10,000 Grant from adamus so the drugs suicide and alcohol they're doing a mural on that which is very exciting um and they'll be working on that throughout the year so I'm glad the speakers are coming in and working with the kids um Judy with her gardening club I love that club she's been doing it for free for years so I finally got a little for it I'm very excited um a game club I love getting the photos of the kids and seeing them they play games at lunch as well um Dungeons and Dragons I'm going to have to learn a little more about

095it and I'd like to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving so thank you any uh comments from you no further comment sir all right easy enough um there's no comments from either of our associations so I will move to Central staff let startor with Deon with the working M I just wanted to compliment the the students it's really good to hear students instead of adults speak about what it is that they do it's much more exciting and I think a bit more organic um it looked like I was texting I really wasn't it was uh J just sent me an email and said I heard you were calling my name I was trying to tell her that she was on the the agenda to be more approved for the so I was telling her congratulations you

096guys approved it so um thank you for approving that and thank for teachers and students were I think mutually helping each other become better people that was good to listen to I think it was great students speak about go a little different direction we're in the middle of a math adoption and we're piloting and so um we've had uh the preaching department has been going into all the classrooms and helping the teachers teach we've actually been teaching with them um pulling small groups with the kids on all of the new material that we're getting acclimated to and it's just been very exciting it's excitement for the teachers it's very engaging for the students a whole different way to teach math so it's going well so I'll have more towards the end of the school year

097on you know what we de but K through 12 yeah they're all kind of starting at different times but yeah K to 12 M adoption um I'll just say on the building project itself they put the last section of wall in today over here on the storm shelter um so that is now completed on that part of it they're going to finish the roof they'll be pouring the concrete floor inside of that gymnasium storm shelter um be pouring it Monday and on Wednesday Wednesday they'll be pouring the roof on the storm shelter over at the 712 building which is 6 and 12 in deep of concrete for the roof so they'll be doing that over the next two weeks I think they're pouring over the next two weeks we'll have 80 something concrete trucks between

098both sites for the concrete pores which should finish a huge portion of the concrete work they also put in a a staff parking lot over here they were laying asphalt today so the staff parking lot's been installed over here so it's coming along they began painting walls inside so uh well block fill so priming this the center block preparing it for paint I should say so are all the windows in now no not all the windows are in they haven't finished the caul yet on them either so they still have to go back and start tucking the windows and cing them in but uh it'll take we'll be putting windows in through February because we got a lot of storefronts large pieces of glass to go up stuff like that still so but they're all

099on site we just have to get them all put up all put up W I'm I'm excited to see how they put concrete in the roof from the truck like are you asking the same question well I don't know if you seen they bring a big pper truck out with this huge arm that reaches up to it and just pushes huh what oh they put a decking down underneath it a metal decking and it's completely it's completely installed on that so be pouring it on just like do the second floor the floors are all concrete too they put a metal deck down then pour the concrete over the metal deck wow that that's really it's just so cool to see this building come together I mean I just absolutely love seeing how you mean just

100all the pieces come together and then you see the Big Crane out there and that's just super exciting to see you know I just love it wow well uh we have no General comments from the public today so we'll start with the comments from board members I might start with John you don't you don't have start don't you all right um I won't share too much about this but we did spend uh the past weekend most of us were able to attend the school board B school boards uh Association conference it will be the last time I attend it so I was attend a few sessions uh the only one I'll make a comment about uh really was kind of surprising that didn't really um share a lot with us that was help I'll put

101it that way but it was about um it was about genders and basically it was it mostly a law a law session where attorneys talked about cases involved transgender situations in schools and and other things too but the gist of what I got from it was that just about every case that has went to an appell at court or has went up to even State Supreme Courts has almost just been um passed on as far as uh any results because most of the cases they shared with us at least were parents who didn't like um you know maybe a boy going in the girls bathroom but they didn't have a transgender student they were just concerned about it so because they weren't affected as a student the courts bed on it and didn't make decisions

102at all so the gist of the session was that until the transgender students parents file something or something happens I suppose to a student that directly involves the parents of that student they're going to make decisions but it would be very helpful to uh to districts and this is not just the appell at court that affects Ohio this was almost every Court country uh appell courts are associated with different states um The District Court six affects Ohio I think Michigan Kentucky and Indiana if I'm not mistaken but there's four or five states that affect U District Six and they haven't made decisions that are health so I got the gist of that but I'll share a few other things I want to publicly thank shook for donating food to Pirate packs um so far they've

103made two donations that totaled over 2,000 items individual items which is just a huge huge help to us that's money we don't have to spend um they also packed this past Thursday I believe the packed was Tuesday or Thursday last week that they sent a group about eight or nine folks to help us pack so that was very very nice I think that's the first time they had actually physically been to the building and packed with us so I want to publicly thank them for that we have some pictures uh that I'll I'll get to staff at some point because they're going to make another donation uh maybe one or two more before the school Year's out so look forward to that and certainly want to thank them for that um want to thank these

104kids it is not easy as most of you in here know because you speak at that microphone too it is certainly not easy for teenagers to get up and do that and they PA said something so every almost every person that came tonight shared and that is just always a blessing to see that would love to hear kids and um maybe we can get some of the other buildings to I don't know if they have clubs in every school I'm assuming some of the elementes may not but um I I think this would be great to see this continue the rest of the the calendar year um two more things as far as packing for p packs goes you have have a group a CB Scout group Girl Scout group church group that's interested in

105packing you can go to the pirate pack.org website and we use a program most of you are probably familiar with called Sign Up Genius to actually sign up and pack with us the dates that are open are listed there and you can go there and sign up and join us for one of the almost 20 weeks of packing that we still have between now and May so we certainly welcome that um I think that is all I have the only other thing I wrote here was um there is a um can you bring my right okay never mind that's it thank you all right move on the lry I don't know that I can talk that um so yeah um the convention was um different um it was um it was a lot different than

106the than the first year um a lot most of the classes that that I uh sat in on had to do with um safety mental health um how how important trade schools are um and then how AI is integrating into our every last thing um yeah um and so um you know I I was really impressed that uh you know they were really emphasizing how important trade schools are you know everyone knows and hears that college is is an excellent source and that and for a lot of kids that works well but not for every kid um and how they're just really searching for so many of the different trades um that pay really good money um and they're begging for people to go into those and so it was just some ideas of of

107how we can you know kind of maybe connect with more um of our community resources to you know try and get the kids um apprenticeships and things of that sort to try to kind of push them in that direction um so that uh you know the needs are being met and the kids are getting a a a career um that may fall more in line with what they want to do and are are um interested in doing than um a college career might um extend to them so they're both very important um and we want to make sure that we have those resources for both of those um the clubs were awesome um and and I'm and I'm going to show my my age and my stubbornness here I did not expect to see so

108many boys in the Garden Club that's yeah I thank you okay so it's not just an old old woman thing here all right I I'm thinking it's going to be mostly females because that's where I went and I was shocked at how passionate they were they were excited um Miss Judy is doing a wonderful job because each and every child had nothing but good to say about her um and they were so passionate and excited about that um I almost want to try and plant corn again um it's not going to happen not unless I get in touch with her um but yeah that was really really interesting and um the Spanish club there were things they mentioned I'm like tell me more but I you know didn't want everyone to know that I didn't

109know what they were already so I'll ask her later um so there's that and then I wanted I want to give out a public service announcement tomorrow it will be a chilly day we might even see some little white flags don't call us we're not shutting school down we're having school tomorrow we don't want to hear from you we don't want to hear your opinion of what the weather should be or could be um just keep the phone calls to yourself recognize we live in Ohio and this is what we get and that's all I have to say about that all right follow that IU see how impressed I was with the clubs tonight it shows how well the the staff is working with the kids not only just on the club part of it

110but you heard the when students say that they've got help with their future goals in life and um I think that's happening with all the staff I think that you could tell that kids are enjoying their art and Robotics and the gaming it's great to see that and kids getting interested and that takes a l further further things in their lives and I think that's represents what great staff we here have here at West Carlton where they are going above and beyond working with the students and I'm very thankful for that um Happy Thanksgiving wow thank you so much yeah um it's just another thank you um and it has to do with P packs as well but the Marine Parks and Rec has agreed to let us use the building that we pack here

111for three more years and I just wanted to publicly thank them for that somehow I can't seem to write that correctly here but that's what L said that makes sense I didn't know did that that's great um yeah no I'm definitely going to be echoing a lot of what everyone said um you know even with the uh the snow you know but uh I know uh ospa was a really really good time um there was a lot of classes not as many as previous years but um you some of the classes I went to was similar with Lor's where you mean a lot of community engagement ones that was the one I was really focused on is how can I get parents more involved Community more involved with what we do here because I know

112that would build I mean relationships with the kids and make things better for everyone so um I learned a good amount of stuff with community relations um I know another thing I'm really excited for is to read the uh the anxious Generation by Jonathan is it hide it hate hide it yeah oh you actually got it it's do you it was funny cuz in one of the classes he had notes in his and I wanted to take that one because it looks like he took really good notes soad the out that with it I mean it's incredible and I think you know especially to everyone watching um it might be worth reading especially for your kiddos to see what social media does to these kids and the importance of see we right here we even

113have St talking about it it's it's important to understand the social media and what it does to your child and uh so I hope everyone at least takes a look at that book um or really anything to do with uh you know social media and the kids because I know how important it is to you know kind of be on that can you say something about that and and just a shout out to our staff and and and our um superintendent here there were there were there were school districts represented there that had just started restricting um cell phone use at their schools and oh the parents don't like it you know and I'm like well we're like two years ahead of this um and you know just what um they're learning what we've already

114known that it would just decreases the school um angst and and the bullying and all the I mean it doesn't make it go away don't don't put you know things on this that's just not going to happen but it does has lowered it um and that they were really had a lot to say about you know this is a great thing why didn't we think about this earlier I'm like we should have came to us we you about this well you know it's interesting that you say that because my last class that we had they were talking about students kind of doing surveys students you know kind of having a little bit more say on what happens in the school district and it ended up being me somehow teaching this uh group of people about

115our student reps and about all the amazing things that we do like tonight with uh with some of the clubs coming in they don't do that at their school boards so it's just so interesting because it became like a Q&A session for a lonely School Board member where I mean like with the knowledge that I have on what our sen program is and how important it is to have kids be involved or young adults be involved with what we do here you know and it's incredible that and it just shows on how proud I am am to be a part of this board how amazing it is to be a part of the school district because I mean and you guys hear it all the time we're always ahead of the game and just to

116have that is such a good feeling and and it shows in our great cows we've been doing such good work you know and I've just been over the moon um having those opportunities to talk to other schools about how amazing our school district is and how wonderful our kids are doing and all the amazing things that they do it's it's amazing I was going to ask reading allies I know it's doing a really good job I missed the hope for West girl to meeting I don't know if you made it I didn't I heard really good news though I heard has been fantastic did you like report out on anything you yeah well um I think um what are who the or Todd Tod yeah he reported on it and then I just Jed in

117about it hasn't been very good I've heard that the kids are like get getting their like goal so much quicker than we even expected it's I mean it's absolutely incredible to see how amazing this reading allies we my child one of my children went up a level went up a level oh my gosh wow it's just another thing of being ahead we'll have more data at the end of the semester so um their last day is uh the week before December 20th so that'll be the before we um break for the holiday um time off and then we'll start again in January but we'll have data to share or have um by the end of Janu or end of December man I'm so excited I it's just great to see the update is so so

118well already and it feels like we just started so that's awesome um of course our kids tonight are absolutely amazing as so cool to see this being our example of what our schools are and these clubs I mean most of these clubs weren't even a thing when I was there and I was proud of my spirit Club but some of the other clubs were just absolutely incredible you know and just to see you I mean not only they do something together learn something new like gardening they become like family you know like they almost tear me up and actually I might get emotional just thinking about it with Judy and and those kids like oh my gosh isn't that absolutely amazing I mean that's what we do is not only teach kids stuff like math

119but we show them what a community can be and how important it is to have friends that will do anything to help or you know I don't I don't know it's just kindness it kindness back to your community yeah just like uh just like Janine's little thing you know the the girl said to be kind is to play outs friends and it's a little chilly I didn't play outside today but you know and just for a lot of those kids you can tell that they were nervous being up here shoot I'm even nervous when I speak so just to see them and how professional they are they're 10 times more professional than I could ever be um it's just so cool to see that that's my future your future that's our future right there so

120um to end this of course I have a little quote and this one's about change um it is uh to improve is to change to be perfect is to change often and that's by Winston Churchill um we got I think that's it no executive session so we we appreciate you guys for listening and I think I need a motion in a second to adjourn this meeting all right you guys are excited to get out of here all right real call please Mrs Gibson yes Mr lell yes Mr M yes Mr yes all right have an amazing night thank you
