001thank you madam president Dr Smith members of the board tonight um at our public hearing we have Hannah Clint dinning here from Barnes & thornberg with us this is the next step in our process that we've been going through over the last couple of months for our 2023 to 26 facilities transformation long-term facilities Improvement and buses and Equipment Acquisitions project and so at this time I just turned it over to Hannah to explain a little more about where we're at tonight thank you the public hearing is open and do we have any comments or questions from the public this evening seeing No Hands hearing no comments we'll close out this public hearing thank you now um we'll call to order our work session and the first um item on our work session is the reorganization
002of the board the board is required to reorganize um by electing officers for each coming year and it um these officers will be elected to serve from January 9th continuing until January 8th 2024 or until the next officers are elected um do we have nominations for president of the board Madame President I nominate Wendy must for president do we have other nominations do we have a second okay um I all those in favor of myself as president I I I um any opposed okay thanks okay great uh vice president do we have nominations for vice president second did you second or second thank you thank you um are there other nominations for vice president okay all those in favor of Miss Norman being our vice president president I I opposed um and now I'm asking
003for nominations for secretary I nominate Crystal Pucket second oh second sorry okay okay okay um all those in favor uh if there are no other nominations all those in favor of Crystal Pucket being secretary i i i any opposed okay thank you we have our we have our slate of officers um now we will appoint the financial leadership team and again um we'd like to appoint Matt miles Chief Financial Officer purchasing agent and treasurer of the district and uh Mr Renee Hull Deputy Treasurer so we have appointed our financial leadership team um and now we will appoint committee members uh on the Lawrence Township Foundation board uh Miss Norman will you continue I will as our representative and also I want it to want to be clear that Mart Lawrence is also on the foundation
004board and between the two of them they will be giving our up our monthly updates um uh and also Miss Lawrence will you continue as our leaone to the Indiana School Board Association sure you know bringing it to our attention we don't all see every email so bringing those things to our attention is important they do have good programming and it is helpful um and I would also like to appoint Miss Crystal Pucket uh again to Lawrence Parks and Recreation board that it's fine with you okay um we have two other appointments that the superintendent um the superintendent appoints and by the way these appointments are part of our are bylaws the that's why we have these specific committees and um so and why we don't have other committees these are our committees through through
005our bylaws Dr Smith thank you madam president members of the [Music] board Miss Don as our board policy leader we call on you to lead again so we ask that you be appointed to work very closely with my chief of Support Services Dr Tim harshbarger Tim raise your hand for the public to take on this most important task that the board of education has in creating its policy and tied to that is our work with the state legislature we have our legislative committee the public needs to see that all five of our board members will serve on that committee as it's very important for us to work closely with our local legislators as well as state legislators across the state of Indiana to make sure that we do what's right on behalf of our children
006remember public that the majority of our public funds we receive come from our state legislature so we spend a lot of time lobbying and speaking with our legislature so those are the appointments thank you Dr Smith and I I would also like to thank you very much because under your leadership uh we have broadened our conversations with our legislators and there are too many meetings for um one person to meet and it's much more helpful that we all meet with legislators so thank you for that leadership okay thank you board for uh the reorganization um now we'll have a blue ribbon update Mr Smith oh sorry Madame President Dr Smith members of the board as we pull up the PowerPoint here starting with LC on the first picture is said the turf has been slowed
007down due to weather it's all ready to go uh you can see a picture of the stone being laid for the baseball stadium next slide is soccer stadium continues on and the concession that will feed both uh the soccer and the baseball area the new pool uh the Deep oil has been poured the sides are being poured now and they're working their way out of the pool and of course the inside of the building continues on likewise locker rooms hallways Ln front edition steel has started going up so the East wall of the Fieldhouse uh has been completed and that addition will continue to move forward LM Plaza is moving forward we'll put the storefront glass and doors in uh starting this week uh the old pool the floor has been laid so that pool
008has been filled in concrete was poured last week uh again to make that a multipurpose facility uh concession stand out at the softball and baseball continue on as well as a lighting around the new parking area uh out there World lit this is a twostory air eight or nine classrooms we are finishing them up they need two classrooms to start school tomorrow they have those Furniture in place and they will continue to move into the rest of the spots as we move forward those are Middle School the auditorium uh all concrete and blocks have been laid uh utilities now are going in restrooms uh electrical and Lighting uh we're moving in some to some new areas renovation we demoed the LGI room and the next slide shows six more classrooms that have been demoed for
009further renovation um the Special Needs Bus drop uh is prepped and ready to go and we'll be utilized this semester for our special needs V Creek Valley uh sidewalks uh along the uh uh building as well as out at the new soccer area uh they will be starting the fencing around that soccer area uh as the weather permits main office we moved into two more areas of renovation of the main office been demoed and starting to put back together uh in the 700 space we're moving around the building so more classroom SP in the center and two more classrooms under uh renovation as we speak just more of that renovation LCC here uh not much work going on it's outside so as the weather permits they will continue on uh with the tennis courts uh
010as well as landscaping and Roofing and the new lecc is out to bid and we're hoping to have um Awards coming to the board February 16th great thank you board questions for Mr Smith about Blue Ribbon okay thank you um next we move on to uh Mr Dr gag line I'm sorry request for RFP for student devices thank you question questions for Dr gagin yes so my assumption is that the device then is with the child from the time they were in they have a device in elementary then they get one in middle and then they get one in high school correct and so I've not seen anything about the disposal of property can you explain a little bit about the computers um the laptops Chromebooks that are no longer utilized the disposal process and
011if members of the public have the ability to obtain those devices so how is that uh how is that communicated to families is there a way that potentially we could make that more accessible to families I know with the price of devices and knowing that some families might like to have something in their house for a younger sibling or um something of that nature I think it' just be nice and also being transparent in terms of um what we're doing and the way that they can obtain those perfect thank you thank you for those questions Miss D I had a question um thank you Mr gagin uh the additional devices are those part of the program where families um purchase an insurance policy in case the uh Chromebook is damaged Beyond repair okay so that's

014here this evening I also would just like to say I can't believe it's been a year and I appreciate serving this community and our students and staff and working alongside of each of you looking forward to an exciting New Year and all the that's yet to come I believe The Best Is Yet To Come for our Township it's not exactly one year because uh January 9th last year was when we were all sworn into office I know this date quite well because it is mavis's birthday our third child um is January 9th so we're we're one day shy of the full year but um we're excited to to send her back to school as a birthday present for all of us uh no you I I would second uh what Miss Dunn said about having
015members of the community here uh I you know I have some suspicion why you all are in the audience and I just want to say um having an Engaged group of individuals is how change is made and I'm grateful to see multiple voices present at our board meetings and I want to continue to encourage you to come and attend these meetings um and when appropriate make your voice heard so thank you all for attending M Norman um again I second what you guys say um just happy New Year everyone I hope everyone was able to rest and recharge a little um going into the new semester and as a parent we love our kids but we're ready to send them back so um Good Luck as the week starts up and um I will hope
