Granger Mrs Moore Mr Brown yes motion clearance thank you next we'll turn it over to our superintendent uh Dr Keenan for his report remembers my report for this evening under 7A we're going to begin with the principal of Abraham Lincoln to present the building level goals for Abraham Lincoln [Music] um it is [Music] but he has the key to the screen so I can sing if you want to be tested here [Laughter] amen foreign [Music] don't worry it's pretty good all right good evening school board members Community family staff allies welcome to Abraham Lincoln School I am principal John bestetter um and I was given the test tonight to go over the building goals that we set at the beginning of the year and kind of talk about our progress at Abraham Lincoln on the

goals I do know that this is about your last stop on the tour so that you've heard a lot of this already so I'm going to just highlight some things that are unique to Lincoln tonight okay our first area I want you to first see how cute our kids were that's what that picture is and celebrating the first day of digital time here for learning um they're new they're fresh they're excited and so I just like to show that on academics this is the documents you have in front of you so I realize it's very difficult to see on the screen so under the areas of academics we've had five goals and I'm going to talk about two um the other three are pretty much what has already been mentioned in the other schools the

first one is attendance and this was just an area that I I mentioned because it was something that we've been working on the school year um and we are still working on we did not meet this goal um we have tried many different strategies I am very happy with what we have come up with um for the last few months um and I look forward to carrying it into next school year um we have tried giving incentives we have tried making threats we have tried all of those strategies and nothing was improving our attendance right so we did decide that um we really need to get to the parents at this level because the students um are not responsible at this age for getting themselves to school and so we have but we have called

attendance meetings and they feel pretty much um routine the attendance meetings and we had let parents stop doing them on Zoom because of the pandemic and so we decided to make some changes and hold them in person and our focus is on academics and we want to make the parents aware of what's going on and create a partnership with them so we did collaborate with the red form office and Mr shy to come up with a plan and I do have um we have these attendance meetings now we're just starting and we we try to make the parents come in in person now try to eliminate the zoom and we try to talk to them about where your child is and where they need to go and I have this you can look at it

later we give each parent a box like this and the school counselor and the student support coordinator have been trained on how to go over the resources with the parent and they're all very home friendly things like there are links that will read stories to the kids if the parents are unable to read to the kids it's all kind of exciting things in here so we're really excited um we wanted to change the attendance meetings and just kind of focus on a partnership and we need your child here and we need them to grow so I'll leave this if anyone wants to table okay the other area under academics I wanted to speak on was our Ela goal and we said 40 of students in grades K1 who initially scored off track on the fall

Ela math assessment was scored on track by the spring benchmark while no more than 10 percent of students who score on track in the fall will score off track on the spring benchmark and when we first took the winner benchmark and Compares it to the beginning of the year we were not happy with the results so we made some changes and we are very pleased to announce that our goal was 40 percent and we hit 73 in kindergarten with 10 of them falling off track which was our goal for 10 or less and we hit 41 in first grade first grade is a time that you struggle more because they come in as non-readers and then they leave his readers it's a big time to grow so we are excited about the 41 percent uh

that we can in first grade and we still had 19 of them fall off track so we thought to go was very successful we have some very exciting data um this year 89 of our kindergartners are leaving kindergarten on track and 55 of our first graders are leaving kindergarten on track which is an increase in first grade of 20 from last year so we're very very excited about that and then the rest of the goals on their academics um TBT enhanced the curriculum drive and College and Career for Readiness we are on track until it's gone moving on to diversity equity and inclusion which is our third area we had six goals under this area um and I'm going to speak on the last one which is discipline um that goal said through the use

of a restorative practice framework think we're going to reduce their use of exclusionary discipline practices by a decrease in emergency removals suspensions by the end of the year we um have had four emergency removals we don't suspend here we've had four emergency removals this school year uh so you know it's kind of hard to decrease this but we keep this as a goal in an area of focus because we want to focus on how many students are being removed from class so at Lincoln that's going to be our Focus trying to keep the students in the classroom so we continue to work on that go and then in the area of communication which is the last area um we have the student school student news goal the streamlined technology the community promo and the parent

and Technology goal the parent and Technology goal remains a focus here at Lincoln um we weren't able to introduce the parents to some technology we had a table set up at some of our events um but we would like to continue to get them more active in um using the online resources to monitor their child's progress and communicate with teachers and then the family and Community engagement goal um we continue to maintain that as an area of focus um it we have seen an increase in activities for families and Community engagement um we would like to see here at Lincoln the staff become more important so that remains the area of opponents and those are the those um that we wanted to highlight here in Lincoln are there any questions I also so when we'll

be looking at the academics and we're talking about recluse first graders are on one track so what is that 39 as much so I'm sorry so what are you doing at support goals because is the gap when they continue to grow as they were tribulate through the brain because there's already a gap right now what are we doing to support those students as well as they go okay and it's actually 41 moved from off track to on track we have a total of 55. so we did switch how we were doing things when we received from Winter um Benchmark datas we use our intervention teachers and we switched our whole structure in the morning and um we used our four intervention teachers our title teachers and our reading recovery teacher and they now push into

the classrooms for at least an hour um some are an hour and a half we looked at the data and we identified the classes we needed more support and they received a little more time and they collaborate with the teachers um and so the cloud they do groups um focusing on foundational skills in the other three areas of math and they have a rotation the kids rotate through i-Ready um they work with the learning loss teacher they work with their classroom teacher we did behind here at this building that all of them whether they're on track and we want them to stay on track or they're off track and we need to get them on tax need to spend some small time with their teachers and so we changed our structure to make sure every

child has small time with their teachers so that they can focus on the skills that they need to go and so on [Music] and what we did find is that and those numbers in front of us they met their growth financial program um so they're still growing you know and so that's our goal we do progress monitoring often we use the past assessment and we keep monitoring them and we make sure that they are still growing even that they're not on track um and if they're not growing we talk about them at our IAT meetings and come up with strategies on how to help them and how are you going to use this how are you going to use this number to put in the uh the um planning or to get these 45 things

that are off track and you're in the first person because there was you know over to them our hours you use in the summer time because our Enterprise into the summer program so we focus on those kids when we send home the Flyers the teachers get those flyers first into the carrying hands those students so we can focus on those students and then I have been collaborating with the curriculum Department even today on what summer resources we could put in place um to make sure they're still working on those foundational skills so you guys are not bringing the parents in to have one-on-one with these parents to let them know that's great so we're not personally bringing them in but the teachers are reaching out to them and saying you know your child was not

on track you really need them to participate in this program and then we have meeting scheduled with those who are really not making progress to talk about what the next step should be with that child so with the attendance go and that process and having the parents come in any of them explain what their challenges are as far as getting their kids here coming to school um yes we we they all have an opportunity to kind of discuss and brainstorm what the challenges are um they range from um work schedules to Transportation issues to illness um it's just very but those are popular we are at currently nine um our goal is 95 and I think we were at we're like at 89 years ago oh 90 yes yes and we're in the 80s we

Teeter around 82-83 we haven't made much progress outside of that I'm sure as far as the buildings the highest rate of chronic absenteeism over after that it would be Lincoln been followed by Obama and the best right now is JFK who is has met their goal they're about three percent under uh both in the intense rate and for chronic executes thank you so much so it has been you know Lincoln did see a decrease in chronic absenteeism from last month and they are better than they were last year it's not like All Is Lost it just you know better than last year but not exactly where we want no did you say 100 plus oh no two miles you're like everyone else the Ron's question when she asked specifically about like bringing in the parents

I think that and thinking about the idea of transportation and see if the location value our kids here what we have to do especially at the K1 building is creating a sense of urgency you know like we understand the struggles that our parents may have you know especially given you know the population of different Graphics of our parents the education piece it cannot just stand alone in you know email communication the local calls or whatever those whatever whatever we do we have to create that sense of urgency that's uh you're educating our parents so that would that means they may need to be forced you know into the school really so we can say this is where European is and help them understand what is RTI what is the past assessment because I don't care

about that says they go graduate in high school they're gonna pass that one right so creating that sense of urgency um around how critical it is for them to be here every day that's my impact except developers except in the future so I think that we could do a little bit more tinkering with just some of these strategies or initiatives and again I know it's going to be tough because parents aren't working these people like you can't deny the fact that they still you have you need to realize into the situations going on but I think that we just can't let it be an excuse if it's got to create fill up that sense of purpose and build in those supports uh like the ones who learning providers continue to keep up whatever we have

and I think that's going to help us better when we get into JFK when we get into Obama middle school high school Etc um the question that I had was not necessarily a question I think that when you're talking about diversity equity and inclusion uh this is for low number six um you know it's awesome they're not suspended kids when they first started school that doesn't make sense um and even before emergency removals is the event um I think that what you should do is not to continue to track this goals and change to go completely to what you said make it about unresponsive students are Spanish outside advisors and not really analyzing emergency removals and suspension because they're not doing anything important just completely revamped that entire goal and figure out what metric you

want to be put in place so that way you can be able to identify acting how much time you know a student is removable class it goes to a student support for coordinator or go to a nurse or I think that'll give you a better Bank when you get a little bit more of a data picture to show the realities all right thank you thank you thank you I'd like to move executive thank you Dr Keenan the board members of that opinion has given us a 7A presentation upon her doing goals um is asking for approval for item 7B um items one through five seven c one um and then 10 foreign ers uh Mrs Moore yes Miss Granger disregard Mr Blackwell yes Mr Brown yes thank you if there's anyone in the audience that

would like to come for the board go to the podium stage your name State your address and and you can see we'll go into executive session by the vote board members can have a motion stability victim sessions thank you and thank you thank you everybody else we are going to go into executive session for personnel 6 30.
