Good evening. I'd like to call to order the Guthri Public Schools Board of Education regular monthly meeting for Monday, January the 12th, 2026. Uh, roll call, please. >> Husky, >> here. >> Flag, >> here. >> Pearson, >> here. Schroeder. >> Davis, >> here. >> Gerard, >> here. Smmedley >> here. >> Madame President, we have a quorum. >> You please stand for the pledge of allegiance. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Please join me in a moment of silence before we begin our meeting. Thank you. Okay. Agenda item number six, presentation of employee and student recognition. >> Mr. Hancock, >> Madam President, member of the board, Dr. Simpson. We
had a great uh a lot of choices to choose from this year uh this past month for student employee of the month. Um our student of the month is Miss Pisley Tucker. She's uh at Central Elementary. Um hers was for selflessness. We had to we had this as a challenge word in the classroom whenever we were talking and it was a tough one for the kids. But let me just go to say that this young lady helped a we had a short-term student um in our district who uh had hearing issues and only knew sign language. And this this young lady took her in, befriended her, tried to help her out for the few days that she was in district. So, uh, Miss T, uh, Paisley Tucker was our student of the month, again, nominated
by Miss Watson. Our December support employee of the month was from guest, Miss Joy Hok um, in the cafeteria. Uh, she was nominated by Miss Crawford. And Miss Crawford, whenever she was talking about it, she just talked about her attitude and how wonderful she is to work with and how hard she's working uh, with the kids and everything like that. Um, again, and I I'll just say I think in our support, it was probably since I've been here in my 30 years, we probably had the most uh nominations uh last month. So, this next one, uh, our certified employee would be Miss Kelly Simpson at Codell Elementary. Um, let me just say that besides uh a relative that's up here, uh, she was very humble in this. Um, >> just just uh just to say
she knew that she had been nominated because she's on my uh committee that helps us to decide and she didn't even give herself in the top three votes that we had. Um, so but uh Miss Simpson, she was raved upon by Miss Cotton and uh I'll be honest, she has been nominated probably three months in a row. Um, and she finally uh won. Uh, and you know, so we're proud on that. So those are our employees and student of the month. >> For the record, I didn't even know about it until after she had been told. [laughter] Thank you, Mr. Hancock. [clears throat] Uh, agenda item number seven, comments to the board by citizens registered to speak. >> We have none >> comments to the board by board members. Okay. Uh, agenda item number eight,
superintendent report. >> I have a brief report uh this month. First [clears throat] of all, uh, January is board of education recognition month. at your seats, you've got a small token of the appreciation from the district as well as a certificate of appreciation from the OSSBA. Uh the uh those were something that Samantha uh put together and uh she uh she wanted to make sure that you guys could show your Blue Jay pride. >> Okay. And uh so we we really uh we sincerely appreciate all the work that you guys put in because I know uh we take you away from your families and also not just on on board meeting nights but for the many activities that you attend and also for the committee meetings that are never uh on a live stream but
you guys are working too. We truly appreciate you. Next, uh we received uh recently our midterm adjustment of state aid funding and we will receive a reduction of just over $377,000 from our initial allocation. Uh don't everybody jump off the stage yet. We're okay. Uh while we are steady with enrollment and similar weighted ADM, this is simply making up for the growth in local funding due to the growth in property values within the district. So, if you remember from your finance classes, um the state aid is here, but when the local ALORA money goes up, the state aid goes down. And so, that's what we're seeing with that. So, uh Dr. Chapel and I have been talking about this and uh we'll be we'll be fine. it uh that is a district that is growing
with their local dollars like we are is going to see those things and so that's something that we plan for. Uh the last thing I've got is due to the increased popularity of the teacher of the year celebration. We separated it from the board of education meeting last year and it was a tremendous success. And this year the celebration will take place in Meridian Technology Center South Campus on Monday, February 23rd beginning at 5:30 p.m. And we want the entire community to know they are invited as well. And that uh that's turned into a a fairly uh large event for this community and it even grew by leaps and bounds last year as well. And so want to make sure you guys have that on your calendar. We look forward to uh having uh having
that great night of celebration of education in our community. That's my report. >> Thank you, Dr. Simpson. [clears throat] Uh agenda item number 10, consent agenda. >> I'll go ahead. >> Oh, sorry. No, I'm sorry. Yeah, I skipped it because I didn't So, agenda item number nine, Crossland construction update. >> I gave Lane the night off and thought I would give the Crossland construction update since it's very brief. Anyway, um the construction fencing is up and the uh we're we've got a few last minute things before they actually start turning dirt. We've got a plan for uh relocation of the utilities first. And then once we get those all cut over into the new uh services that they've got to put in uh for so that it's not under where the building will be, then
they can get to work in earnest on that. So that's where we are. In fact, we're starting our first uh construction meeting this Thursday. >> Nice. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Now, agenda item 10, consent agenda. >> Madame President, I move we approve the consent agenda. >> Second. >> We have a motion and a second. Roll call, please. >> Husky, >> yes. >> Plag, >> yes. >> Pearson, >> yes. >> Davis, >> yes. >> Gerard, >> yes. >> Smeling, >> yes. [snorts] >> Six eyes. zero. >> Uh, agenda item number 11A, business agenda, recommendation, consideration, and action upon proposed school calendar for 2026, 2027. >> Page 52 has the calendar that is the recommendation of the calendar committee. Mr. Hancock chaired that. Uh, you'll see it's not uh pretty much identical to what we have
this year. And that's typical when you look at the school calendar. Um there's not uh as many options as you might think. Uh but if you have any questions, Mr. Hancock was in the room for the deliberations and that uh with that committee and I would recommend approval. >> Madame President, I'll move that we approve the school calendar [snorts] for 2026 2027. >> Second. >> We have a motion to second.
