001there you go we're live it's not Saturday Night board of education is mostly meeting and they we're all here at glory Walker he's absent and we're glad to have our superintendent back Leona okay pledge allegiance um brought To Us by AJ Morrison first grader at Cherokee Elementary class her parents are Chris and Jessica Morrison AJ's Hobby's interest yeah she's active in her church she plays basketball and is a member of the mini Sparks competitive dance team she loves arts and crafts and swimming foreign [Music] ready tensions [Music] it's public um call you out you need to state your name your address and you have five minutes to speak and we as a board cannot give you any feedback so the first person who thinks Dyson over here please good evening my name is Nancy Dyson

002and uh my address is Field Box 1901 Tahlequah Oklahoma and I just wanted to quickly address the board I see that it is on one of your agenda items about the gifted and talented program uh we really need to um help our gifted and talented children flourish we haven't lost many but we have lost a few children uh because they went on to larger schools for the programs and the classes that were offered at the larger schools I have donated to the gifted and talented program in the past and if this passes tonight I will again donate 500 to the gifted and talented to help them fulfill their program and that's all I wanted to say thank you thank you thank you yeah okay thank you thank you Christine Hudson my name is Christy Hudson

003my address is 205 Remington Place um it was brought to my attention that another um very um inappropriate post was made by Mrs Nemo who um obviously sits on the board and I just wanted to go ahead and make everyone in our community aware of it so you know how did those last years you know these are the same people that when a black guys but now they're like okay so just because my agenda that makes me a terrorist office oh yeah it kind of doesn't matter you're all right concerned right now too perhaps you're concerned that your baby girl my happy birthday pandemic if they call that slavery is bad news we're concerned y'all's crazy it was going to be expecting to be appropriate precautions like a [ __ ] parents and mostly we're concerned about

004the future a member of our school board posts that and has views raise your hand if you are a concerned parent I'm a concerned parent I'm not a domestic terrorist and I'm not an inlet and not any of these things and you posted this to your Twitter I don't have Twitter if this is floating around I'm not friends with you on Facebook I'm not anything with you on anywhere I don't know you I would never post something about our school board and include you in in this and I'm highly offended and I think every person here even if you're a staff member or an administrator you should be highly offended that a person that represents Tahlequah Public Schools post this is at the mouth Chrissy Nemo tweeted this out into the world reference into Tahlequah

005Public Schools I never called a doctor a fraud and I I never called her a name have you ever said that have you ever said something like that I've never said anything like this foreign make sure you absorb it that this is what's being represented uh two years ago when teachers were fighting at the Capitol we were their biggest source of support you're concerned that you your child has to share the monkey bar with my kids well she shouldn't be she goes to parades and hangs out with kids as a sitting board member you should not be there should be some kind of a spot integrity and dignity a perfect timing thank you foreign I pulled up dropped off my kid this morning 21 kids got out walking to school four of them had on

006mass one teacher walked out that teacher did not have on a mat okay so it's it's non-existent the Mandate is nothing more than political power that's a bunch of yes okay uh schools uh uh the next thing I want to catch on just real quickly why do we have parents that can't get to work on time because they can't drop off their kids before 7 45 I love the man the banks I should not have to contact her and say can I come drop off my kid at seven at 7 30 so I can be to work on time knows neither should anybody else we did it for 50 years we should be able to drop our kids off and get to work on time and there's no excuse there's zero excuse for not taking

007care of the public in that way uh last I mean this is what I got to get to get to you know so curriculum I'm not going to mention any names but my son brings home a quiz geography class a computer quiz from Google which is a data collection that's their business it's data collection your business is not education it is data collection okay quiz from Google on the quiz late-term abortion wants my my child to read to respond to this late-term abortion critical race Theory once my my child to respond to critical race Theory uh what you know and then have all kinds of connections where I can find out about that what does Google say is the right thing about critical race theory about late-term abortion about lgbtq and gay marriage uh about

008uh open borders and who should pay for the illegal immigrants coming in that's not the place of the school to be educating my children about political topics or your children don't give me your views don't let Google educate my kids I want the teachers of college educate my kids and I want them to use curriculum I know it's a long time ago but God I mean there used to be things called McGraw-Hill textbooks and those things were invented for the last hundred years by state boards and now I got Google and my kid goes into class and seeing him for the first 10 minutes of class I'm gonna tell you CNN is politics and Google is politics and my kid does not need to be educated by Google or CNN and I think that's fair

009I don't have to educate anybody else's kids to my point of view please don't educate my kids to Google's point of view or CNN uh and you know I mean I just would brighten this up I think it's something to think about because uh you know that Google's business model is data collection so it's my son's name and information on that 80 acres full of computers up there in Prior is it on the web that he thinks a certain way about pro-life on late term abortion is that where it's at because that makes me mad and I'm sure it's going to make some other people than that Google does not belong in our classroom and I know personally of an I.T guy in a school around you and that school purposely rejected the entire Google

010platform because of this purpose because their data collection and they went with an entirely separate separate concept Microsoft because their education and they're not into Gathering people's data these people are gathering data and they sell it that's what they do and you brought them into the classrooms of our kids and it's wrong uh Daryl Broner is that right yeah that's me okay thank you thank you so so stop surgery my name is about 30 years and I'm very concerned I'm a grandma now I'm not saying this is happening here at the school we sure want to find out I don't know if anybody is aware about these books flying around about Virginia mother that went before the school board does anybody know about that anyway she went before the school board because of two books

011that she had saw another mother in Texas her son had put things out that's um checked them out at the store when we're doing another song and so she wants to attend her school system check it out well uh when she was showing the pictures the school board got so upset well first off I told her to stop because um oh that there was kids in the audience there wasn't one child in an audience but she was showing the pictures which is pedophilia and sexually explicit in cartoon form and which is illegal according to the doj well they cut her mic off and then the other concerned citizens they had spoke what they how they felt so then because of that it went viral this happened just a couple weeks ago then um then uh

012what has a school boards whatever whoever it was a big wheel it's a hold of um uh I'm buying buying this whole AG to call concerned parents domestic terrorists you know which is a bunch of you know hogwash but anyway I have the two books here in question which I checked out of the library which came out of the library system they were not in our library but they can just they came from a little bit anyway and um there is no age limit to check them out I do think people need to see these graphic pictures and um foreign because this is not okay this is sexualizing or pedophilia it's normalizing uh pedophilia and it's actually room does anybody I mean okay can I show what's in this book I got it at the

013library here y'all thank God from the library system went just wrote this one came from Grove Public Library and she was a man with a young boy um and you know graphic pictures I mean it's okay for everybody to see what's going on here come on oh you guys aren't supposed to talk I'm sorry I'm new to this but anyway excuse me if you don't mind if anybody wants to see what's in this book that's at the library yeah I couldn't sit sleep for like several days I got sick to my stomach okay and I take care of my 80 year young husband I'm sorry y'all but if we don't see it who's going to do something about it don't Stone me okay but we gotta know right don't we have to know okay okay

014I mean if we turn around we don't want the lunch Anyone knows but this is our kids at the station okay yeah and then Okay so thank you I'm concerned grandma and your officers and any other officers and responsible did you all want to see it oh I'm sorry we're not supposed to say anything please forgive me I'm not with this can you see yes okay foreign like do you think that we're so stupid to you know your last little talk that you said you said I don't know what the long-term effects are for my daughters like she caught Hogan okay just got over covered ten days ago 11 13 days ago perfectly fine guess what all my kids are perfectly fine you've created yourself around your kids at all these parades when kids are

015right next to one another they're hugging on them your kids are hugging on them everything is it because we're outside is that your concern is because they're outside social distancing outside I know that everybody's different with coven everybody's different but the numbers are almost non-existent even though these kids every day that you're getting tested are testing positive it doesn't necessarily mean that they're sick I didn't have anything wrong with me I still don't have anything wrong with me it wasn't the best thing in the whole wide world but it was just like a common cold and it was just like the flu I felt like crap for a whole day but do you think that I'm that stupid you think I'm dumb you are a hypocrite Chrissy you are a hypocrite you cannot sit here

016and try to mandate something or want something mandated and then go out and just parade yourself around telephone and then post it on Facebook do you guys not see that like these guys not just go and just like view her Facebook it music I am shaking because I'm so upset about this it's a common cold none of our children have died from it look at them my children didn't die from it I have four of them I have a one-year-old she's perfectly fine she had diarrhea well there's also a stomach bug going around everybody has diarrhea from that too this is crazy this is absolutely crazy to mandate masks you don't mandate them during flu season you don't mandate them whenever people have strep throats you're taking away Smiles I can't even see if you're

017mad at me right now you I can't see if anybody's smiling or anything this is affecting these students guys only 33 years old okay and I'll tell you anxiety and depression is a big deal it's a huge deal these kids mental health is a big deal and I don't know if it's a big deal to you Leon you haven't been here is it a big deal to you mental health because that's a huge deal and all these kids that are in school they're going to have mental health it's going to become a problem it really will be true and according to the Mandate that you voted in you're not even you're not even wearing your mask right but you want my 10 year olds okay mental health it is such a problem in the United

018States and you guys are just putting our kids right up there on it my 11 year old okay has ADHD look it up look at what ADHD is it's not just fidgeting it's not just being excited it's not any of that crap you're putting him more at risk for mental health because he has ADHD and you put your putting your mouth on his face you'll have your nose out you see that they're not even wearing it right you can't twist it that's not in the doctor that you had come up here Dr Dan you wouldn't wear it right either you want to know why because my supervisor came to me and told me not to wear it that way stop being hypocrite Chrissy if you're going to represent and be on the school board in

019front of all these other parents stop being a hypocrite or stop putting your stuff on public AIDs that would be a start the next thing my 11 year old is party every day at school I want them all excused every single Target I'm excused I can't get my kids to school on time I got three different places to take my kids I have Greenwood Elementary Middle School and I have two kids to go to daycare they cannot I can't get to work on time they can't get to school on time which what affects school right they're learning I'm just tired of it just stop I don't say tigers roar we're gonna recognize the different principles all right this time um we always try to honor our belief that they're because every every member of our

020staff principles it's true um one of the best groups that I've heard [Music] they don't outstanding job every day we don't get an opportunity to recognize them with any of our staff teachers for anybody but just tonight we wanted to dedicate our tire to Roar for each one of them just to let them know we do appreciate you and you know for me Youth and management Jones we appreciate the job you do it's hard to be a principal it's hard to be a principal in any in any size school but you go to an outstanding job and we do appreciate it so we'll we'll call you up here we'll have you have a little gift so if we would just kind of stay up here we'll take another picture we will go ladies first Mrs

021sheep excuse me of course [Music] Christian that's advanced foreign Mr Sanders and then Mr Foley again thank you all you're an asset to the district foreign [Music] never imagine any discussion about to proven off approve the monthly Financial reports in front of you at the end of September the bank balance was seven million 570 291.98 general fund receipts for the month of September were six million 31 837.14 maybe you will see that that balance matches on the page five balances general fund balance at the end of September is 6 million eight hundred ninety eight thousand two hundred Seventeen dollars and twenty five cents [Music] ability plan receipts for the month of September for 34 294.59 and that matches the balances on Page Six September was 857 dollars and then there was a co-op fund negative

02213 000 99.85 Seafood fund receipts for the month of September were 41 855.49 that leaves a balance of a safety fund for the month of September of 209 317.58 yeah for the month of September ending balance was 970 185.62 TV totals we are at 276.88 for those you guys have any questions [Music] you're doing a good job thank you thank you foreign it's been tough because it's hard to justify to parents the patrons why we still need to get these forms turned in because all of our kids need for free um I think we've done a pretty good job of explaining it um there's two different things and that sort of sometimes convey that message but our families and this District have done an amazing job at giving these forms the numbers are unbelievable for

023the forms that we have turned in as of today district-wide full history there are only 91 students that's unheard of and I foresee because everybody is still working hard because Child Nutrition doesn't have to have these numbers till October 31st so we still need to get applications turned in um so I still have a few days and we're working diligently to get those I will I look for that number the people of 50 districts that is amazing because the percentages have gone down and as you know percentages it's what gets the district funding so um kudos to everybody you guys are amazing the parents are amazing they're they're great I just can't say enough about it oh and that translates to that's 97.4 of our kids have turned in an application that is awesome um

024so I was going to keep it short and sweet and just talk about that tonight you guys have any other questions for me the numbers came down or not because we haven't got our actual number of reducing free it's because the Absolute Graphics that is correct definitely that's that's correct that's not it's not a bad problem to have but more people in your community are above the cutoff line for that it is not you're correct it's um you're correct the other questions all right well I'm gonna let everybody else I know we got a big night so I appreciate you um thank you thank you okay we can vote on all three of these and one motions got a second is there any discussion and I know I have a discussion about to approve Karen

025rnl as the activity fund the story yeah thank you Mr Myers is called mine and I item State principal and director's report okay uh if you're gonna we're creating to start so we usually do this consider in the school year but um we still wanted to allow our principal to kind of come and got to give the board an update on going back to school the startup to good things a bad thing because it makes it a long way just kind of let us know so we'll just kind of I'll probably get it up in order to Mr Stark we'll have to go first with worker with thank you I'm Kristen Stark I'm the director of Brothers childhood at Sequoia pretty good and so this year our enrollment we have 159 kids enrolled at 145

026000 40K 143 and then 10 of the adventure Head Start I'm excited to have a couple of new positions at my building this year and we do a full-time counselor and it was a go this year and then we also have a note so for credit card some extra people around um so far so good students are doing great and they're excited to be in school everybody's working hard getting procedures taught our pretend babies they have to be taught everything so we're making progress getting there and we were excited we got to have a book fair for the fall this year last year we did our tool and so we did get to let our kids take some yeah have some books in their hands uh that's always a good thing um we were supposed

027to get to go on a field trip to the fire station but the fire station had to cancel so we had them come to us today and so the kids have to see the fire truck I can get Sirens they were super excited about that I had a couple things coming up we're going to go to Rockin R Farms on October 25th and then we'll have our fundraiser for the year in our tribathon on October 28th so far so good oh my God the boxes we got today I haven't even opened mine yet but they are educational supplies from terrification so they have provided boxes for our students um which is a bunch of Education company so yeah safer they saw two big boxes yes lots of stuff so I hope parents have lots of

028storage with us um we have chosen our robotics team and they're practicing after school our student council elections having them two weeks ago and those kiddos are already becoming right leaders in our school um we have our literacy lab going I've been running with every retired teacher that's joined us for 30 years of first grade experience and we haven't had a lab in a few years so we're pretty excited about that um jogathon big deal it's our only fundraiser and we did that yesterday it was really cool that we were outside so parents could attend and they were running with their kids it was almost normal again it was really great and we have six thousands of people but 6 400 worth of corporate sponsors so that's more than we've ever had in corporate sponsor

029so the Tahlequah Community has really come out and really supported us and we're hoping to raise anywhere between 15 and 17 000 and and that will support us throughout the school of year it'll pay for field trip so pay for transportation it'll pay for teacher needs student needs and we had our first field trip today to supply state park with our third graders and they had a wonderful time when they were fishing and doing all kinds of outdoor activities um we have two more field trips tomorrow our fifth graders are going to this town and our first graders are going to the aquarium so we're excited about having those things a little nervous about our first graders going to be aware because they haven't gone anywhere yet they were kindergarten last year so it's a

030little person that extra people just to cover it um but basically we're just you know we're our Focus every day is a social and emotional health of our students and we're building classroom communities classroom families which in turn builds a School family and so that's our goal every year and continue to do that every day thank you thank you next we have Greenwood Christian reporters hello Jason school at Greenwood Elementary [Music] to be here um we currently have 501 students as of today um enrolled we have nine new teachers and I think we're sending four new pairs and we're still not fully staffed so so we're still looking um to fill a couple of positions as well hopefully pretty quickly um but we had our first Community parent engagement night which is the title one

031night we had it last Tuesday evening Community he wrote tonight we have police fire um grda different people in the community we have that outside had over 100 families attend and it was good to see people back like everybody has said people are excited to get back to our normal and so it was good to see them um we did a popcorn sales that they do every year at Greenwood and we have brought in um our our amount that we get is over 20 000 right around 20 000-ish is what Sheila just text me and again that's used for classroom supplies field trips different things um our fifth grade went to this town yesterday had a fantastic time we we have The Rock in our orange Rock in our arms and that first grade kindergarten

032are going to um Mrs Jones started checking out books so the kids have books in their hands and that you would think it's the best day ever I'm so excited to have those so lots of good things happening at Greenwood and I'm filling up for Miss Rogers she is at watching online she's at the principal training with Mrs Young so if you guys have any questions okay [Laughter] I always make lots of notes because I don't like to repeat what everybody else has said because a lot of us do the same things we have our book fair you know families got to schedule appointments to come in which was nice they got to to be inside the school and our kindergarten parents were super excited walking down the hallway and getting to that book fair

033uh We've also had student council elections um our offices that they were elected for were president uh spirit chairman and community service chairman uh their process that they have to go through is the linking process I have to get recommendations from teachers and other people in the community they have a formal interview process they have to record a speech that is presented to their peers um right now we've got all of our officers set they've determined our spirit base for this semester and are deciding on a community service project so we've got those kids rocking and Mr Dansby was here he's still here he's our student council representative and does a fantastic job with that robotics we've done interviews collection was today and we have grown an extra team so I'm super excited about that

034when I started um principal at Heritage we only had one team and we grew to two teams and now we've run into three and our 13 is a third grade team which will be more um recreational but building building that capacity to to competitions um one thing that we have a couple of things that are really exciting going on at Heritage this year our first thing is that we are hosting two interns for an NSU riverpot scholar program I don't know how many of you are interested or know about that program but it is a program for students with disabilities who are striving to earn a college certificate so they actually go to college they get that some of the college experience and they get not a degree but they get certificate so this is

035the first time that they put them into um work internships and this is the first time they've had anybody in education so um Mr Justin Chase is the director of that program and what was really cool was we have one of the interns who wants to be a history teacher so today was her day she had a PowerPoint she got up and and taught the class about the New England policy colonies so we were excited to have her and um the other one is wanting to work with special needs children who have got her in a special needs classroom so that's that's a really cool program we're excited to have them on campus another thing that we partnered with NSU about um actually miss Arnell and NSU Sarah Swain have gotten together and masterminded our

036after-school Intervention Program for El students and it is to get started this year also at Heritage we've also had our first fundraiser and our virtual parents involvement night was virtual this first this first one but we've got big plans for the next one I'm super excited Rhonda's got some Mastermind behind that one and we'll be Camp read a lot and we will have parents on campus joining that and we've got a lot of fun things planned um our next fundraiser that we're looking at is to have a jog-a-thon in the spring I was really kind of waiting to find out what our students wanted as far as having a focus on what you want to raise money for so during those student council interviews it was brought to our attention during the interview so the

037kids want more swing sets and I'm going to tell you I actually counted our twin sets we have 10 for the whole school five on one playground five on the other that's not enough sleep and that's usually the longest line if you go out to access it's the longest line of kids waiting to get on the on the swing so that's going to be our goal in the spring is to look at trying to get swing sets Brad Jones has told me they're very expensive so I don't know what we're going to be able to get but we're going to try we're gonna work hard for it uh we also have I wanted to say our first in-person music program last year Mr brewstered a fantastic job recording our music programs and posting those on

038our web page we are going to have our first one October 26th at six o'clock I encourage all of you to come out it's our fourth grade and they are being uh fall Follies kind of a mixture of all kinds of different music and the only other couple of things we've had Miss Amy spidel came and did some coaching at the end of um September for conscious discipline and a couple of the things that we have started school-wide we miss Gilbert starts our day with the brainstorm start um hopefully maybe we can do that on the Tigers and present what that looks like that would be a fun thing to do and our counselors have gotten together and started a school-wide you belong board so the kids are bringing friends and family pictures to put

039on our school by board so lots of things mentioned at Heritage a couple of good celebrations for our staff we've already had our first quarter staff birthday celebration we did it at Big it was quite fun and then PTO on our first distance learning Day surprises with the dessert bar so uh things are fun headed in the right direction we're back to normal type school stuff and I can be outside so we're looking forward to the rest of the year thank you thank you thank you man all right next we got the Middle School Mrs geese I'm the principal of the middle school and um we have almost uh 750 students and one exciting thing that I had our number of school today on we had 173 students received gold cards this first nine weeks

040and so that is very exciting and quite a few more that were on the principles honor roll for Asian B so that's great things happening for our students with that um some new things at the middle school that I feel super excited about are and we added Advanced science for eighth grade this year and um basically what that is is that science class is preparing students for honors classes at the high school and um they are going more in depth on topics they um it's a smaller group and the class discussions are just like maybe on a little bit higher level and a lot of Hands-On a lot of experiments teachers are mainly a facilitator of learning and so that's that's been really fun to see we also added a another elective that is gardening

041slash botany and um we had at our school eight raised beds in the back of our school and a big Garden area green beans and beef lettuce broccoli a lot of things right now growing and for fall plants and these students maintain those and they maintain them all summer long so these people this started in after school program and there was such a interest in this by our students we added and elected and so I'm very thankful for that and they we also compost at the middle school and we do that in the cafeteria and and use all of that and so it's really a good life skill also for these students to carry on and we added a preventionist and they that's also an elective during elected time and so um he is um

042Mr Dan Vivian and he is so wonderful he's just to know him is to loving and he's working on life skills with our students and working on empathy mindfulness social media safety and awareness and we do a vape prevention program in that class is a nine week scores self-esteem and those students are journaling daily and they just have a great time in there we added a map interventionist this year that is also on an elected time so students are able to get extra support and for their math lesson and also adding some activities to support mathematics and the lessons go along with the students are learning in their core classes and just helping them improve skills and so important you know everyone you know we're just behind a little bit and so we're just trying

043to add these extra supports in for these students to gain those skills and we added a counselor Miss addieville where she has just been a fantastic addition to that office in our school she has been working on the virtual account virtual counselor office page for our students and teachers and parents and she's working on our column room at the middle school and we had to bring for that and we're really excited for that and she meets the students and parents and it's just allowed that whole counseling office to play a more preventative role in student needs rather than just after a student need has already happened and we adopted a new science curriculum for all grade levels and it is just it's wonderful I mean if you ever want to come by they're using it

044every single day and it's Hands-On it's experiments every every week and it's just been really really awesome and an overall goal that I have for the middle school is to find a place for every student and you know the students are active in something and they're they're part of a club they may not be on the football team or they may not be in the Vander choir that my goal is to find a place for every student to land and so we have been adding some things for that and like the others said we have robotics there's student council and we have a TSA stem club and and they're doing lots of fun things so it's a whole organization Statewide and they get to do some competitions um we have um the after school program

045and we have activities such as chess club a student-led dance class Native American basket weaving we have all these things that are offered and we have choir which um and we had 10 kids make eastern district Honor Choir and then they'll be trying out for Allstate later this month um we're also right in the middle of October so I don't know if you drive around and you see those flamingos everywhere that's coming from us um Native American art has been playing stickball outside and they're loving that and drama Department with Mr Kohler is working on their Moana performance which will be November 5th and 6th and I know it's hard to think that these middle school kids could put on this awesome performance that it is so fantastic so I encourage everyone to come out

046for that we have about 125 students that stay for after school program every day too so that's really exciting for us and it's growing all the time our teachers are really active trying to get more students enrolled in that just so we can find a place for those students to land with different activities and groups um let me see here we post things on our Facebook page all the time I don't know if anybody saw it and we did Mr Davis our assistant principal and they're definitely extracting with kids and they unpacked Penny frames and all of that and it was just really a good another life experience for these kids that maybe they can look and go oh I'd like to do that in the future myself and so that's what we're really trying

047to build with these students and then the last few things is we are having a Halloween dance on October 28th that's super fun for our students and then on October 19th is our annual and pink out game chair and prom also perform at halftime and I'm dedicating this game to our student Peyton swim who passed away so um we're excited for that thing to happen and to be able to honor her and I think you know just lots of things are happening every single day at the middle school and we just really focus on making the middle matter every day any questions for me thank you I can't I like that dance class so at the high school we have right now 1224 students um and we are so happy that the majority of them

048are with us in person this year I want to tell you last year at this time we've had about 480 virtual and then about Christmas time he brought about half of them back so um this year I think there's only about 30 virtual and those kiddos are doing pretty well you know they're some potatoes Do Do Well virtually um so we definitely don't want to take that away from them but we loved when we get to have them and they're there so definitely active at the high school we become a field trip or we're going somewhere every single day it feels like FFA is going home says Galloway Cherokee language they're all going out um having field trips our softball team made it to State super excited about that last time exciting um super fun

049the kids did really well we have uh cross country going on today keeps us very active at the high school and it feels good that when you go around kids are learning kids are Hands-On learning and they're visiting and they're doing experiments and it looks different than last year because last year felt like they always had their Chromebooks out for everything and that's okay we have to do that you know but now it feels like we're getting back to normal and so it feels really feels really good um we added a new counselor talking about that I've had a lot of new teachers this year and so that we're just trying to get everybody acclimated and um you know some some are first-year teachers and so we're trying to give them a lot of mentorship

050and help along the way because that's a hard profession and so we're just trying to help them out but I'm having an amazing year every morning I think the band is just greeting me when I get there [Laughter] you guys break up there so early like 6 I get there right at seven and they are going and so I feel like that's pretty awesome um Holly's classroom they're singing out there it's just a happy place to be and I love it and I love that personal reading so um yeah [Music] [Laughter] anyway um if you ever want to stop by the high school and just see what's going on I'll take you around um I know Mr Myers has came by before and we just walked around see what's going on yeah how did the

051band do in the competition so I don't know about this weekend the last weekend at Bentonville I know they got seven but they got sent out of a lot in like big schools and so they did really well Holly do you know how well they did this I can't remember but I think you're doing well and Josh said they're young kids and he's flipping them into shape and they're doing really well they practice so hard and you have three international students again every time and we love that we love they're really awesome kiddos they add a lot to the to the school we hope that we get as much from them as I get from us you know it's kind of a two-way two-way deal so anyway I feel like Abby I love your thought

052of really trying to make sure that everyone has a place I also love that um I feel like we have a lot of different clubs um I also have to give you some data tonight and guys I will tell you I'm not just crazy proud of this data but I want to be transparent to you and I want you to know that the data is the data and so I want you to give me just a little bit of Grace and know that last year was hard and we had a lot of kids virtually and so I want to talk about our Dropout um report and this is from last year okay so 2021 data so 9 through 12. 9th or 12th grade so what happens if a kiddo drops out and immediately they're not

053picked up by another school they're considered a Dropout and so all of my 9th through 12th grade we have 40 kids total one kid is too many so I know that I have 1224 kids and so 40 may not sound like a lot in the scheme of things but it is a lot to me so I want you to know we're not taking the slightly um last year the number was 20 and this year the number is 40 and um I don't know if you remember but when I was standing up here last year I said it didn't feel well I don't know if you guys remember that but we were virtually and a lot of kids were failing and I and I I said to you please don't be mad my number is going

054to be high next year I didn't know it was going to be double but um it is what it is and so I want to be very transparent so two of the kiddos so then what happens is as you go on we have the David um Lookouts and the bird chips and very good ones and they chase these kids so they come they try to figure out where do they go well two of them came back five of them we got records requests from another district one of them finished their GED go ahead and click to the next so then we changed our numbers and so eight of those we got to take off of there but then that still leaves us 32. and so 32 came from either my site or the alt site

055but do remember that a lot of them were virtual and they just struggled and we tried to have them come back and you know they just they did they just struggled so I want you to look at the data so fire me tonight because I'm going to work hard to get these numbers up so we did have 40 then we made those changes that I was telling you about just a minute ago when we had 32 but I want to take it all the way back and I want you to be able to see a couple of years ago they really really were able to chase them really really well and I hope to get that back my eyes are terrible but can you see on the 2018-2019 we only had 16 and then we

056chased them and then we were down to seven and so that feels better seven is still too many Seven's still too many but it does feel better so that's what our hope is hope I'm standing up here next year I'll be able to report different members to you so so then let's talk about seniors so seniors we started out with 318. we graduated 285. one of them finished their GED 20 kiddos went to another school three walked we but we let them go to summer school I still didn't get all their credits so we have one kiddo that's actually still working on this credits and if those other two come back you know if any of them come back and still want to get their credits we'll try to figure out a way to do

057it and then at nine seniors truly did a 10-day drop um and so that was 32 there so our graduation rate is only 90 and it was 99 last year and so I am not standing up here telling you that I'm proud of that I want to get that up and I'm going to work really hard but I just want you to know the numbers okay so then let's talk quality remediation so this you have to go back a couple of years because it's not really fast that you get the data but um the top is our number talk about public schools and I think it says zero percent on reading but I went back and looked at my numbers last year and I really think that combined reading in English this year because English

058is up a little bit and last year last year my reading was like three percent my English was three percent and my reading was 5.7 so it tells me this year that they just pushed those together so 8.5 is English and that just means they take zero level classes which we don't want because they have to pay for those classes but they don't get credit for it so no one wants to do that I don't want my kiddos wasting money when they go to college so I'm going to try to get these numbers up but I just wanted you to have that too so I wish my report tonight was all roses and butterflies I think we can get it there next year I just wanted you to have the real numbers and you moved

059to know that we are working hard we are trying to encourage our boys and girls club it's after school from three o'clock to five o'clock it's three tutoring we have certified teachers that stay um so anytime a kid is slipping like it doesn't feel cool I know when you're in high school we go stay after school you can help them then it's worth it so um we're definitely trying to do that um any you guys have any questions for me [Music] you can I can create you one or you can have money you want this one Whatever you can have this one or I can send it to you okay um graduation right like I assume that that Dropout number went up across the stage I'm curious to know that too I think the reports

060and principles everywhere are giving those reports now and they're doing it on single sign on now and so I feel like in a couple of My Schoolhouse [Music] congratulations we did test our entire school last week that was a job Jennifer Lynn and the counselors did an amazing jobs we tested all ninth and 10th grade for the pre-act and 11th and 12th period for the act all in one day it's a big testing next we're curious to get that data to see how it compares to last year we know that we're still missing a lot but we're just going to keep working hard and sure we love the PLC time because we're able to look at our data and use that to drive our instruction it's 35 minutes so it's fast and Ferris and they've

061got to be ready we're using that time to hopefully fill in those those holes so yeah let's see no more cards might take me a couple of years guys we'll get there okay thank you no she's not here okay uh so we're gonna move on with superintendent support automatic okay um as we know October one is the official count date for school district throughout the state uh numbers on that day to get sent to the state and that's the number that are funding for the entire school years later we may even if we get 100 students next month more or two months later it doesn't matter October one is that number that we go till at the end of the year at the end of the year that number three is such October One Big

062River District uh this year on October 1 3 501 students District white you have a copy that's behind there um uh last year at this time October 1. we had 35-23 so we have a net loss of 22 students just kind of curious I look back and added up uh October one before code first started and got in all this mess uh we're down 86 kids that time and that's there's been homeschool other vertical blog and the kids can attend they're just a lot of places um 86. now and I kind of hope this year that we've at least you know level off the losses that will have an impact on funding not a not a giant impact but the levels but also kind of the bigger concern of that when you pair that with

063our free and reduced that free and reduced number is also tied here state aid it works into the formula so the higher the number the more it's going to get per student it's also tied to all of your federal program dollars in the district it's also tied to every grant that we applied for now it's a double-edged board as we said to put our numbers going down I think people in our community are doing better qualified so of course that's a good thing on the flip side happens at that affects Revenue so it's just one of those things we have to kind of balance out deal with because um that's the enrollment number so I'm kind of get an update on the code number the wells District um from the beginning of school to the

064last board meeting we had 206 5 total cases in the district uh 233 kids and 32 teachers since the last board meeting we've had 45 positive students and five staff members who could be told in the last month brings our yearly total 278 for kiddos 37 for our staff members for 315 total started schools um with our mask mandate is kind of a number on that we've had 315 parents talk their students out about filling out points also had 70 staff members [Music] um any questions okay I just want to kind of go into a final review uh Robert if you can pull up you know we've talked for a while about possible bond issue we will bring this board next month we have structured it in a way that will be able to bring

065both of our elementary sites Cherokee and Greenwood kind of up the far as you know Heritage is our newer site so we're bringing those two sides up kind of the same part of that site there um we'll be able to do some restroom Renovations at the high school and some other athletic things that we're looking at uh this is the what we're showing here this is the proposed front entry for Greenwood nothing has changed from what I've showed you the different kind of understand I want to throw up there again uh this is a new front entry that Greenwood will be getting Robert we'll go to the next one this is the classroom Edition uh to Greenwood on the black side next to the cafeteria consists of two special needs classrooms a new music classroom

066and it also doubles the storm shelves for Charities and the number on that dollars and this would also have 971 000 within the bond to do the corridors and hallways at both Greenwood and Cherokee if you've been in there recently it's wood panelists and some kind of Base the building so it brings the inside of all those buildings up to date if we go to the next one Roberts this is the rendering of what the Cherokee would look like basically we would be adding a small Administration Edition and some restrooms on the front side where the cafeteria currently is kind of changing the front side of the building the drop-off area we go to the next one would also be renovating the old cafeteria into a new library media center and nurses stations the total

067of that renovation with the little over 5.2 million dollars and again there are some hallways of Cherokee that has the lovely wood paneling so we'll be addressing them as well if we go the next one this is our indoor facility we're supposed to be doing baseball softball field [Music] provide a large indoor service have some restrooms there right next to the baseball field price taxes that one it could be a little over 2.8 million it's got our last slide Rover yeah yep that's it okay now for the other thing we normally have a slide they're just kind of generalizations that we have we're going to be able to renovate all the restaurants at the high school which most of them are in bad need of attention uh total cost of that would be a little

068over 597 thousand dollars uh we're looking at applying uh Turf on our position fields to help our athletic team the fan also Community Little League football different things like that it'll be along with the current track and we're also going to include a little over 1.6 million dollars for district classroom Renovations we won't be able to renovate every classroom within the District of that money but we'll concentrate Cherokee Greenwood middle school high school the one that we really need to look at and put some money into so we'll have that lot of money there too supportive renovating class who also have a technology component with professor and ARP and all the new federal money that's come through we've really been able to hit a lot of our technology needs and so this is a small

069part of the bond it would be 500 000 it would be updating all the district cameras security cameras and servers associated with those within the district and then the final portion of the bond will be a transportation portion 750 000 to purchase five new buses two new SRO beatings we've got related people uh the total expenditures response would be for paying 839.21 and you know the great part about this is to dress because most of most of the buildings in the district it doesn't specifically address the middle school but with that being said we're using you know several million dollars from the art funding investor funding to put a new roof on Middle School we can send that money to fix the roof Sequoia so basically combine those federal dollars passes we'll be able to

070touch every every side of the division thank you so that's what we try to do next month we'll have Architects here construction managers kind of present that to you as well by dealing with the bonding companies development Associates will probably be in April Republicans do that so we'll have a little bit of time to we'll get out some information on our website Facebook we'll have some Community meetings with the cafeteria again where we need to ask the questions we'll try to try to push that through for our kids and that's my superintendent report part of my discussion about to approve or not approved it's all been Surplus seven containers of old science kids got a second or any discussion aye Mr Meyer it's Nemo and I consider jacket item J one two three seconds any

071discussion foreign Middle School 2021-22 Eli textbook adoption community new Ela grammar any of those types of things and this year it is split it's Elementary so it's going to be the Pre-K all the way to eight next year will be another language arts adoption and usually they're all together and then we'll purchase those and they'll get those the following year and they run for six years well we're just sorting out here that's going to get together and represent to go through all those girlfriend bye Mr Meyers professional development committee thanks and again discussion and vote to approve we're not approved the revisions review of the following policy the impact I the Indian policies and procedures so second policy 5175 sorry impact Aid policies and procedures we are a bishop that receives a large amount of

072effects um federal land uh Native lands or if you have parents claim them because you lose a certain amount of state aid local income those properties are not on your tax bills this is way for districts who are affected by that a lot of the districts that are affected either I love tribal land built in their boundaries they have a military base the policies have not changed since I've been here so they're still the same policy because that requires us to have a board of both to review and keep that policy in place each year this is still the same same policy of exchange we just have to have a vote confirmative fill up on impact a I know sort of ball had to do with just put your name or no but um why

073is that necessary well because a lot of times people don't know so we just try to get a form back from everybody and then we cross-reference addresses of work because sometimes we can find them some people who qualify that don't even know about it just important kind of like the free and reduce forms we just conform back for everybody and we can then go through the data and see if they call it and we're also rewarding them turning it in by giving him sentence like extended launcher is that one time or is that one time and that's extended once like off campus or is it some longer to eat their lunch at school they can go off campus we found that um we don't want to overuse it but we're going to try to use

074it three times this year because kids love to do an extended lunch where they can go downtown and so we'll do it for the frame reduced lunch forms and then the impact date and then enrollment and so because it's hard to get those things back in high school kiddos just it gets lost somewhere so um it tends too yeah that [Music] so then they get to go on Fridays but it's not an extended lunch they get to go just only for their 30 minutes on Fridays if they have a gold card yes sir yeah there's a sketches Myers automated discussion about your approve or not approved in 2021-22 CPS Gibson and Tyler and talented education plan I'll speak before we make a motion um oh I'm sorry I jumped out of the wrong one never

075mind grab a second we have any discussions [Music] this this one was just updated a little bit this year I was reformatted um so it's more easily readable it now lists the vision and a mission statement for our district it includes a lot more information about being culturally sensitive and making sure that we are identifying unrepresented groups as well um and we have done a lot of this work through the Javits Grant the state department started as something that was helping our teachers um know how to teach diverse groups and identify GT kids but through the years of that javix Grant it has kind of morphed into changing our District's land into what it is today so uh Miss Libby and Chrissy Ward they have put a lot of work into this and Libby would

076have been here tonight but I um told her she didn't have to tell my real life she needed to speak so I apologize and so I'm speaking for her I just wondered if there were changes I didn't see specifically major changes division statements like that our program is still intact we just have to approve the plan it's just it's a part of a grant well no this is something that's required by the state but we've had a we've had a javix gifted and talented Grant the last few years we're finishing at this here and the work of that Grant has helped us to remodel our plan for the district [Music] Mr Myers and I I don't know is the discussion about the procure we're not to approve the schedule of 2022 Board of Education meetings

077again read or listen now we'll what we're supposed to see um this time each year we approve our board meetings for the following year 2022 and you can see we have each of the monthly scheduled same time same place we try to teach the Tuesday format that we have this year now the one thing we need to do um I've already talked with Miss Nemo when she makes the verbal motion our March State needs to go from March 18th to March the 8th to take on my part going through calendars but they're on breakdown so we continue to correct that and make sure we have the right one of the 18th on spring break I believe so just make sure we have that correct but if he doesn't yeah these are mostly all the second

078Tuesday yes okay we're trying to keep to the same schedule oh [Music] I agree with o would change from March 18th of a second second hi Mr Myers and I item p is discussion about to approve the resolution for a board of education primary election to be held February 8 2022 I only have three or more Panda stop the Board of Education scheduled to be on the ballot Board of Education general election if necessary shall be held April 8 2022 under the following circumstances probably two candidates filed with this position scheduled to be on the ballot or for a position on the ballot for an unexpired term or If no candidate in the Board of Education primaries election receipts more than 50 percent of events cast the voters shall elect a board member for board

079position number two which has a five year term of offense as provided in title 26 OS 2002 section 13 a stash 101 the Board of Education request the County election board to close the precinct public places number 7 9 and 11 located in Cherokee County Oklahoma for this primary 18th and general election have been stereo Tuesday April 5th 2025 if there's only a fortunate within the boundary of the district and the board has determined that no one resides necklace and pretty soon so it's a full five years government that is safe so the second any discussion aye Mr Myers This is Nema and I have a key discussion and vote to approve or not approve the schedule of your Chemistry thank you got a second second to use that this is Naman aye Mr Myers

080Miss golfman and I are medicine I'm about to approve or not approved Personnel items are well through R4 items Mickey Garvin tmspt Paris professional Gentry right Kirk TMS Special Care para Ashley Lawrence THS Special Care para Kyrie Parker THS part-time parasub Ashley Gower THS nurse [Music] and uh Michael Russo transportation bus driver okay the second okay session hi Mr Myers this is Nina hi and I we do have one item under any business because we have a rewarded grants pays for a position to kind of oversee it and we'll provide you on all the details but we went ahead and try to get a head start District started in that position coordinator everything took place back together said so we just want to be able to complete it with it through that under new business

081tonight something I can't imagine [Music] got a second any discussion to adjourn ing
