Good evening. I'd like to call the May 4th special board meeting to order. >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Stanidge, >> here. >> Dr. Daniels, >> here. >> Miss Shelly >> here. >> Miss >> and the chair is here. >> Let's have a moment of silence, please. There's so much going on in our world. So much happening. Let us have to have a moment of silence. Thank you so much. I want to thank Mrs. Ber for agreeing to do a pledge for us. Please come forward and lead us in the pledge. Thank you. >> You'll join me. Salute. Pledge. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you so

much. I now will entertain a motion to approve the agenda. >> Move to approve. >> Second. >> They move them properly second. Any discussion? Any items I'm going to pull from? If not, let's vote. Mrs. Schulz, >> I. >> Mrs. Stand, >> hi. >> Dr. Daniels, >> I. >> And the chair votes I. >> Item two on the agenda. Vote to approve or not approve the purchase of 6,200 MacBooks, Neo laptops, and Apple for all secondary students. Miss White. >> Yeah, that's okay. >> All right. Um, President or Dr. President Dr. Kirk. Dr. President Kirk. Not sure how we do that. Dr. Kirk, members of the board, Dr. Cobb. Um, I am here today to request uh the purchase of keeping our district 1 to1 at the secondary level. This would include the purchase of,

as Dr. Kirk said, 6200 MacBook Neo laptops. This is the newest thing from Apple. So, I'll just kind of give you a t timeline um since I've last last seen you, which is February because I had a baby in March and I was at a conference in a I did not have a baby. Verify. Um so at the February 9th board uh came asking for iPad approval and that was meant to cover elementary. Um and then within that time frame I at the time discussed about working with diamond assets to do a device buyback. the funds that were used to purchase those the iPads that are currently in our elementaryaries were esser funds which is fine but just working with Jacqueline and Lacy because it was fedally funded we really want to make sure we

had all of our you know eyes dotted into so it just delayed all the paperwork work being push pushed through um and so I kind of I'm a things happen for the right reasons kind of person on March 4th Apple came out with the MacBook Neo so what we did is we paused we did research on this Neo the big difference um so the This is the current iPad that the high schoolers have. Um, feedback from them, a lot of it had to do with the keyboard. Um, it's called it's an unpluggable keyboard and if you know students, they like to take keys out. Um, Apple likes that on the iPads. So, that's just one of the cases that they recommend. So, anyway, the main feedback from our high schoolers was this was just very

hard to type on. Um, we were looking at options u keyboards like this to give students at least for testing things like that. That's just also not feasible. So then when the Neo came out, we just really took a pause. Uh this is the type of keyboard that's on a Neo. Uh this is a similar MacBook to what our secondary teachers are on. And so we're now truly going to have them on equivalent platforms. Uh the MacBook Neo uh has been deemed in a couple podcasts as the Chromebook killer. It's it's just Apple's production of a better device for students. Um our sole s sole source purposing for it is that we go through Apple because that's what gets us our education pricing. Uh this is on the market for $5.99 to $6.99 at like

an Apple store or Target and pick your pick your flavor. But when we go through Apple and go through our vendors, we get it for $4.99. And then we add on Apple Care, which is for care cover for your coverage, uh if something happens, uh as long as it's not deemed intentional, so a student can't get mad and throw it out the bus window and say it was an accident, right? So, um but for the most part, we're able to send it back to Apple and they they look at it, assess the damages, they fix it, and send it back. If it's deemed irreparable or irreparable, they send us a brand new one. Um, that also applies to the battery. And so we're we're able to use our program called Mosul, watch the battery life.

Once it drops below 80, we also send it back. And that guarantees our buyback at the end of four years. So because this is a this is a hefty price. It's a hefty investment annually. Um, for the first time ever, not ever, but for the first time, I can say that this is for sure cheaper than even a Chromebook right now, just with the markets that we're living in. Um, Dr. Daniel your tech world you can understand that. So um so that's why so we took a pause reevaluated. Um so we did not buy any iPads that I asked for in February. So all of that money is still in the bank. Um that's the word. Um and so what we're going to do is take these iPads that are at the high school level,

move them down into elementary, and then we're purchasing for all of secondary. I will say in February when we asked for that investment, we still had a gap of sixth through 8th grade. I didn't what we were going to do at that time. And now this covers 6th through 12th grade as opposed to before I was still trying to figure out what to do with that group. >> Motion motion to approve. >> Second move to second. Any discussion? >> These are these still rugged eyes kind of like the Chromebooks are going to have cases. >> So we we've gone back and forth on that. What we found with the students take them off anyway and then there's a ticket that has to be submitted. Then we charge the kid for the the case. We still

have to buy the case. We struggle we do struggle with getting any sort of repayment from our families on our our schools work hard. Um our librarians work hard. So what we we've just chosen not to go with a case. It doesn't impact our Apple care through Apple. They're not requiring a case. Um I am evaluating some maybe store options that students can buy through a store that we recommend. Not just going to Amazon and hoping to get the right one. >> Use this link, buy this case and and use that. Um also looking when so Carter is a seventh grader next year. My son when he gets his in seventh grade, he will keep that one all the way up even into high school. So it's his. >> Right now what we do is

when he's enters sixth grade, he keeps it he turns it in the summer. Okay, >> to clarify. Um but when he comes back each year, but then when he goes to ninth grade, he gets that same one. So if he drops it in seventh grade, because he did his Chromebook in sixth grade, um if he drops it in seventh grade, we send it back, it comes back. That's his even in ninth grade. So, I'm hoping that purchasing the case that'll be a parent decision. Then they're able to personalize a little bit too. Put stickers on it, kind of show some ownership in it. >> So, why why would we not provide the case even though they may not use it? There may be 50% that does, but it may help, right? So, why >> right

now the cheerly we just don't have the budget. >> It adds about 20 $25 to Yeah. So, um just we don't want to pass it off. But for the most part, right now our Chromebooks haven't been in cases for two years. uh the drop impact has not been the children are the they like to take the kids >> and that's advertised over a fouryear period >> with roughly 30,000 in interest. >> Uh yes ma'am >> and that's all folded into our annual um purchase. Yes, I do anticipate these being a five to six year investment though. Okay. >> Um and then they are they're the first of its kind. So that buyback ability right now you can these iPad 11s a 12 or 13 is going to come out pretty quick. the NEO coming out,

they're going to give us some time. So, I think our buyback ability is going to last a little bit longer. >> We're not doing the fee for insurance anymore. >> We do. So, um when we started when we tried to ask for on the front end, we didn't get it. So, now we kind of use it as a deductible. Um we contact if we can't get the fees, we um assign the fee for the damage. The parent, you know, say the screen's 25 bucks, they typically call and they're like, "My child didn't do it." So, Charlie's like, "Well, hey, that's fine. For $15, that's our deductible. We'll take care of it." And so we've kind of gone deductible routes and we've been more successful in at least getting >> some repayment as you go. >>

That's really, >> right? Yeah. Before it was preemptive and and we have families who ended up taking care of other families which love the community aspect of that, but >> if their kid never broke it, >> ready to vote. >> Mrs. Schultz >> I, >> Mrs. Stan, >> I, >> Dr. Daniels, >> and the chair votes I. Thank you very much. Item four, vote to approve and not approve GMP amendment number 27 to the construction management at constructor agreement with Willoughbrook as well as architect engineer fees on the following bond fund 37 call high school's multi-purpose facility. >> Yes, President Kirk, members of the board, Dr. Cobb. Uh this is uh the guaranteed maximum price for the amendment for the construction of the indoor practice facility at Carlbert High School. Um and I believe Brook

is here to do a short presentation after I get done about what that's going to look like. Um this includes all the pricing on that. It does it mentions the pricing for the turf. I will actually be bringing the resolution for the turf next next board meeting next week. Um that'll be a separate price. It'll be incorporated as part of the project. But you do see the numbers here. >> Okay. >> Move to approve. >> Second. >> I have a question. >> What was the uh budget versus how much >> between the two projects? We're actually under budget. Uh it's coming out about $150,000 each under budget. So about $300,000 $380,000 budget between two projects. So we're under budget. which is a nice place to be. >> Now, I went through the paperwork for Are

they not getting a marquee? >> So, Carl Albert High School is not getting marquee. The indoor practice is going to actually sit behind all the other buildings back by the practice field, baseball field, whatever. So, there's not really any place to put a marquee on. Midway City High School placements different. That's right off the main. >> Yes. You're going to drive right past it. So that was an opportunity to kind of dress up the front entrance. >> Are there gonna give a presentation, but is there any changes since or are they going to go over any changes since we saw the plans last? And >> they're going to do some >> Why don't we have them go forward with Nick and share with us what they have? >> There's been little changes that that you

saw. >> There are changes. >> There have been little ones. Let let guys do after you finish the question and we'll have Will come forward and tell us what those changes are. >> There are going to be some minor changes. >> There are changes and they're reflected in this. >> Yes. >> For instance, we we went away from uh the block walls in the in the locker room. We're going to go to a high impact chipboard is what it is. The walls are mostly lockers anyway. So net cost. So, some of those >> they're pretty. >> Thank you. You're gonna be impressed. >> Thank you much. >> I can wait till after they get done, but um I'm getting ahead of myself. There's two here. We got three. So, Dell City has left. I know

we had a lot of changes with that. So, >> there have been some changes with Dell City and I'm happy to address that. There's going to be some there's been some changes with Dell City. Del City is a these two were basically carbon copies of each other. Del City's been different. Part of it is because it's part of the fine arts edition as well. So that's all one package. Um so that's going to complicate that build to make it look a little make it a little longer. Uh we also had some challenges at Dell City as far as the placement of that facility. Um we have some underground utilities that are going to have we have a lot of underground utilities that have moved on that. Um we've got some parking things that we're going

to have to resolve before we can start over there. So there's there's some things that have um that are very different about the city building. >> When do we expect those? >> Uh it's going to be >> I'll let it go. >> Right now the plans are scheduled to be done the end of July. So by law we have to have them out on the street for 30 days. So, we're looking at receiving bids the end of August. So, hopefully if we can squeeze it in, we can make the September board award. >> If there's anything we can do to push that, >> the community is really watching that. So, if we that would just if there's anything at all because I myself don't want Dell City five months behind and you guys know that.

So that's not nothing new, you know, but the community will >> we also want to make sure we get it after >> I know I know but and I want to thank Dr. Cop. He sent an update about that to us. He sent all that information. >> I'll just say that you know we've had to make changes in the designs but the Midwest City and Carl Hour property are very uncomplicated >> and so we started designing all three at the same time. We just we just haven't had the setbacks at two of them that we've had in designing the Del City project. So, you know, it's I'm sorry that we're going to be a little bit behind, but we'll get through there with everybody. >> And Human has been wonderful on the Dell City project.

I mean, he since he took over, he explained a lot to me about elevation and how Dell City has five different elevations versus Carl Albert and Midwest City. And that is a challenge. So, I'm learning as I'm setting in all of this, you know, that the five different elevations are a huge >> huge, you know, that it's >> Yeah. Right there. Right there. >> Wish we could have had the other ones on street. >> Well, Midwest Cities is close. >> Maybe one other request maybe question. >> So, I know we had a lot of we were looking at differences and making sure things were if you don't mind if you bring Dell City, could we also bring these just so we can have a reference point. >> We're not saying bring them for review, but

just allow us to be able to look at them and compare, make sure that things are consistent because we would have slept by then forward and there are some differences, but my understanding is Del City is going to get some stuff maybe in the Manning Center to >> offset some of that because of space. >> Well, that's fine. I just want to be able to apples when they come through. >> I appreciate that. >> Thank you. You might as well stay. You just stay put. Thank you, Will. Let's hear from you. >> Let's see them. >> Oh, yeah. We need to >> um I don't think you need to. >> You want to do that first? >> Okay. Well, I'd like to invite Jordan up here. So, Jordan is with Mus Architecture and he's been

the architect on the Midwest City. So these are Carl Albert in Midwest City. So these are his renderings. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> They're good looking. >> We've got this is Midwest City. We got flipped around a little bit. So I apologize. I'm flip forward. Everybody close your eyes. Okay. All right. So we're Carl Albert. >> Yeah. >> Same difference. All right. So, this is our exterior view. Not a whole lot's changed a little bit on kind of the imagery and the branding per request. There's a night view, but same facility. One thing that's not really shown on this rendering just because of technology, um, if the facility was in use at night, you'd see that lit up along the side there where the cow wall is. Here's the interior of the facility field.

Looking here is right in the entry as you come in just opposite of the restrooms and sitting area in our team room and weight room faced. Yeah, I believe Coach Dunn has another one over there. Yeah, >> came up. And here's our reception area. >> Love that. >> And there's another view of that triple case. Here's our locker room. All the graphics that you see on the perimeter here as well as in the weight room, those are finalized. >> Yeah, that's actually that right there. in the locker room. This is actually a custom FRP. So, fiber reinforced plastic. >> And there's the main the main vestibial as you walk in. >> The red paint on the outside over a period of time. >> That is why we were intentional about making it just the the

painted areas that were red and yellow. Same thing with yellow on Midwest City. Both of those colors are very kind of the least UV stable >> of the colors. You know, a lot of technology and work has been gone into developing those and making them last longer, but they're still the least stable colors so that we put them only on painted surfaces so it was easy to maintain. >> Thank you. Sorry. >> So that's Carl. Okay, I'll entertain a a motion. >> Motion to approve. >> Second >> and move and properly second. Any more discussion? >> I just want to say I'm excited. I've been watching this and seeing that we're close. >> I'm ready. We're ready to vote. >> We got a vote on >> the vote and call out. >> Dr. Daniels, >>

hi. >> Mrs. Stan, I >> Mrs. Shoots. >> I >> and the chair votes I. Thank you so much. Item four, move to approve and not approve GMP amendment number 27 to the construction management as contract agreement constructor agreement rather Willoughbrook as well as architect and engineer fees on the following bond 37 for Midwest City High School. That's number 28, I'm sorry. >> So this is pretty much rinse and repeat same for Midwest City High School. Um the one difference will be but the primary difference between the two facilities other than coloring that sort of thing is there is a marquee out front discussed it's going to be the front drive towards the building and it's a good opportunity to kind of improve the brand that front entrance is kind >> yeah it's kind of

odd it's kind of tucked back behind the it's almost like it's the back side building >> you know when those trees were there it was a lot prettier but they've all died >> so but yeah we We want to this is what it's like. >> Okay. >> So, you're going to notice a lot of similarities, but they are mirrored. So, you can kind of see the outline of the plane there on the left. I think the night shot shows it a little bit little bit better. >> And you'll see it obviously during the day, but photo is dimensional. So, This is the indoor field. Here is that the entrance. I'll entertain a motion to approve. >> Move to approve. >> Second move and properly second. Any discussion? I do have I know the million dollar

difference. How is that? I I know where there's a total of 11,686. The middle said it's a total 12,757 so on. Where is that absorbed? >> Um so about 100,000 of it is the market 159th >> dirt work. >> Oh, the dirt work. >> The dirt work. >> Get to the microphone. >> Hi. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, we've got to go in and do five foot of select field. Go in and take out 5T of existing dirt. >> Okay. >> And put five feet of select field material back in. Compact it all up. And it also has aggregate peers that go in as well. Carl Albert does not have that. >> Okay. Thank you. >> So, it's dirt work. >> Dirt work. >> A lot more dirt work. >> Thank you. I appreciate you.

>> Any more discussion? If not, let's vote. Mrs. Stan, >> I. >> Mr. Schulz, >> I. >> Dr. Daniels, >> I. >> And the chair votes I. Thank you so much. I appreciate you. >> Great job.
