Also going to dairy dairy milk raises. Right now we're in the middle of a fundraiser where we sell chocolate hazel at five to 50 sessions. Yeah, >> we're doing selling swags and wreaths for Christmas this year and making them. >> Yeah, we're making swags. So, like centerpieces to put on your table or whatever and then wreaths you put on your door or something like that. And then uh we're also planning on doing a bake sales at the uh basketball games. Yes. And in front of Spruce Street, which is a really popular spot for bunch of people to come to make a lot of money. I mean, I did it last year. We had a what [clears throat] a sophomore raising money for the class and we made like 500 bucks. So it's really profitable to

go out there and you know kind of put ourselves out there as a buffet let people know that we're here and uh that want to be supported by all of you and uh it's been really nice cuz here we've done a lot of food activities, a lot of competitions to participated in a bunch of things and uh we just wanted to let you guys know that we're here want to be recognized. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Where? >> Yeah. >> Christmas. >> Okay. >> All right. Any adjustments to the agenda? >> Uh just that we would like to discuss moving the board um meetings to a different location. So we'll maybe talk about that. further to discussion. Okay. Any public comment on agenda? I would entertain a motion to approve the consent calendar. >>

Make a motion to approve approve the consent agenda as second. Any discussion? All in favor say I. I. I. None oppos. Uh review since she's not here. [laughter] >> I'm pretend. Any any questions about Lacy's fiscal? >> How about that? And we were just so you guys know that her and I had um I have met with her one time but I just finished getting the last of the things to the auditors and we're on track to have our audit done by December. So excited. Okay. Any questions regarding that? Okay. Cash vocational rehabilitation report. Any questions on that? That's just our annual. It's the YTP program and so it's just the annual contract that we have to do every year. Okay. It's mandatory. They never missed a period or anything. Any questions? Let's move forward.

Senate reports. >> Okay. Um, so I know that everybody's probably heard the state is asking different departments which uh budget reductions from uh beginning step of 2.5% to up 5%. So that is that's trickle down effect for us. Um it's not set in stone of course but they're they're wanting you to intend at this point. Um the big forecast is on Wednesday the 19th. So if the if the uh forecast is gloomy uh then they will put into effect uh probably they'll start at 2.5 um which includes of course the state the state um department of education. Um a lot of it is they've already presented on Friday I was in a big zoom meeting they presented all the different uh reductions. there's a variety of of programs that we don't have that that are

that will be impacted. Uh so that there's a variety of different pots of money. Um state school fund may or may not be affected. So so the monies we receive straight from the state school fund, not or any of those other things, uh yes, state school fund may not be affected. Um it would it'll be the last one to show um a deficiency. So what could happen uh potentially on Wednesday uh if if we get a poor revenue forecast then they will ask the districts then to come up with um a 2.5% reduction um across the board um or a 5% reduction across the board. Um they're still saying that the 2526 school year will not be affected. So there wouldn't be that you know I know that in 2008 they actually took money away

from us uh in in in May of 2008 uh that's not going to happen. So the dollar dollar amount uh basically is looking at a 5% two to five two to 5% reduction for the for the 26 to 27. So it would be in this on the back half the benium. So for us that's as much as 3 or 400,000 uh for the second year second year of the of the actual bienium. Um I don't think I don't anticipated that large of a cut but it will have major impact on SIA and then it will have major impact on HS on u our high school success. So those two pro those two programs would show could be as much as 10 or 15% cut both of those which would have major impact on us because

then we would have to move monies that we're using in those on those grants into our state school fund. Um so so that then the general fund. So you're actually going to lose money when that was done. So we'll know more u by the next meeting. Um and you'll hear on Wednesday whether or not the forecast how howy the forecast is. So, if it's gloomy, you can kind of bet that we will start um looking at ways to adjust next year's budget and ways to save money for the remainder of this year so that we don't go into, you know, into that dismal down trend as you have been in before. So, u you know, we'll we'll we'll avoid that anyway we can. Um, fortunately our BMW is still solid uh and not changing which

is a great uh so as long as we don't start to move down in that spiral then I you know that's that's a double that's a double whammy uh then I think we'd be fine. Um next week is of course no school all week for Thanksgiving. Today I met with uh one of the commissioners and uh Jason Wilson and uh I got to forget the other guy's name uh from the school from the fair board of about the two trees two oak trees sitting over the top of the oaks pavilion and the ash tree um we have so we came to the conclusion that we are going to we had already gotten bids Dan and I had already gotten bids quotes to take care of those three trees, the ash tree is going to be

gone, done. Um, it's leaning over the fence. It's pretty much the biggest pain. And then the two huge uh oak trees will be cut an arc. The guys can cut in, they'll they'll cut about 33% of that arcing. So, if it were to fall, it would not reach the oak pavilion u because that's the direction it's going to go. Um, but so we'll we'll do that. Um, and then I'm going to ask uh and they they Mr. We felt that they could the county would give us some money. Um I will ask for half of that and the bid was $4,500 to do all that work. Um and that's cleaning has taken everything out. Um and actually they're going to do that tomorrow. So we want to do that before the wind starts blowing or

or some severe weather um might have an falling billion. So we're taking care of that. Um greenhouse is getting closer to to completion. I think we're nearing it maybe a week maybe two weeks out. So, we're about there. Um, and then for Maple Middle School, just a chance to practice. Uh, we have we're giving away eight Thanksgiving baskets um to families in need. Um, with families, majority of kids here. Um, and then, uh, Annie had eight turkeys donated by the case. So that will have all of those will have potatoes, all of those will have um stuffing, all of those will have um rolls, etc. for for those eight families. We're delivering six and two and two families are going to pick those up next Tuesday at 10:00. So and then Tabitha is delivering the

other six on that day. And then Christmas lights is on the 13th of December and it actually starts at noon. So that's from noon to as they're closing the bank down at 7. So they're down sooner from than later this time. So the mayor was here today and handing out brochures. So just so so it's all I have >> questions for Steve moving forward with the enrollment report. Let's hold our own just sitting there. That's good. questions. All right. OSBA legislative policy committee candidates for Douglas code. Looks like we have two candidates. We have Steve Hammerson and Janet Holland. question on either of those candidates. Anybody know either one of >> I don't I don't know. I don't I don't think it's better for me. >> Um I thought Janet Holland might be able to

be more effective in the position because she's had experience in the past working um on legislative policy through her her career. >> Yeah, >> I really appreciated Janet's experience as well. uh and the her identification not just of issues that we are all really aware of but some solutions passively to addressing issues that we know already exists answers there >> any other discussion regarding candidates. Okay. [clears throat] All right. Um, we're at first reading of policy GCBA. Any questions regarding those policies? All right. Uh, board meetings. So, do we have a place? >> Yeah. Well, Bob thought Bob thought Bob was I just we thought about this right before because it's old house. Um, but um the high school band is not being used. chose for inviting me a couple times which she didn't get.

Um the set I think the setup would be easier. Uh it would uh parking lots adjacent. Uh so I think it would be you know kind of it would almost be ideal wouldn't be hardship on anybody. We're not anybody's way. So >> I think everybody would be able to hear better in there too. Like Ellie just said, it's really this echo >> we'll be in there just at the gym now. >> Well, we're going to take we're going to take a good Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. We we'll take a we'll take a look and then and then send out an email before the January meeting. And that was a good thing. There is no December meeting. Just remember that. >> Remind so. But so we that's in consideration. So we'll look and see what you know

see what we what K9 came up with. >> Yeah. I think most of us are pretty flexible. So I think go wherever >> where the agenda. >> Yes, there will. >> Yeah, that sounds fine. >> Okay, moving on. Let's go to public comment regarding agenda items. >> I have nothing. >> Okay, then vote for OSBA legislative policy committee candidate. I laid it somewhere I think in front of Justin their suggested he's the one that you suggest. Good one. >> I move that the point school district board support Janet Holland for the OSBA legislative policy committee position. Yeah. [laughter] >> Any discussion? All right. All in favor say I. >> I hearing no any. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> All right. Coming meeting if so the January. Yes. might have something to put on. >> I just

have a couple of things. I just wanted to remind everybody, I know I've emailed you all a couple different times about the meeting on December 2nd. So, if you're wanting to go, you need to get a hold of Arm and I forwarded all those emails to you. But I'll I'll give you this for 6 p.m. >> Yep. All legislators have actually um said that they would be there. David Brooks and they said he'd be there last year did show up, but so that they they have admitted to being to being there. and they'll have more derbs. So, but they do want to have a head pal. So, they're trying to make sure we do that. And then the other thing I needed to let you guys know is I um just got through doing um

some training and I have to set you all up in safe schools which is a [laughter] >> knock um system that has like you have to watch a certain amount of like clips and stuff and then they'll be able to test. But because you are mandatory reporters annually, you have to take the tab take this like >> mandatory report. >> Yeah. And it's not very long. It's like >> Yeah. They only have to do it once. >> So I just want you guys to be aware because I will get you all set up in the next couple weeks and then I will shoot out an invitation in your email and your username and password will be your first name and last name because guess what? Nobody wants to take your test for you. So I

don't think anybody's going to get into your class. So, just be watching for that from you. >> Can I um I have a comment about the U legislative representatives night. Has anyone been to one of those in >> um is can you describe what it's like? I mean, is it just you go up and talk to the representatives about issues your school district has or >> So, it's a real pool of people basically. Um, they um I think court will be there and David Brooks head and uh the guy that does >> Boomer um and they basically give a a spiel of their own. um how they support schools etc. Uh and then uh and not necessarily political views but but more more school views u to education and then um of course the question

and answers then then you're going to get you know some what what can you do what what have be done with so that basically what it is it's a form it's a form >> yeah is it helpful for >> it could be I mean not I don't know that you're going to uh change their political views uh on what whatever but but but they have the ability to tell you what what those are you know and and I don't I don't think it's a vote for me kind of it's not it's never been the ones that I have been to it's never a vote for me it's it's giving out information that deals directly with us >> and how >> and okay and how often do they add on for us >> oh so this

isn't like once every five years if I >> no No, because you have general legislation. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> But yeah, I think when I went, they talked about like stuff that they were going to be working on for schools. So, and it gave you an idea of what might be coming down coming up. >> And they have and they have the short session starting in January. So, so or February. So, that so that's that probably is some of the things that they will that they will talk about maybe some bills that that they one of them might be presenting. Um that kind of thing. >> Okay. Thank you. And it's not just open to board members, it's open to the district staff as well. If you guys are interested, let me know. I'll

>> Anybody on the board other than me? >> All right. Any announcements? Okay. Go to the order. Let's start peeling. Um, I would like to thank all the teachers for the parent teacher conference. It was really nice to see everyone and all the teachers, um, even though it was a Thursday night, they seem very excited to be there. So, nice. >> Thank you. Just looks like the district is hopping with everybody's activities and things going on and getting ready for holidays. Faster and faster. And I hate the dark out. [laughter] Justin. >> Yes. Um we said there part of this school years went great. So nice a pretty good school week off on Thanksgiving and um and we just finished volleyball football. So tough game on Saturday. And then great job to FFA. So that's

good. >> Great. >> I'm glad to see that the it's been too easy on the board lately that we're going to have cuts maybe coming. So you know, but I think we did a very good job of avoiding stuff lately. Now we don't hands. So we're back to that. So um I'm sure Steve will help us navigate whatever we have to do. Um fall sports are over winter starting. Dates are too short. Bridget, >> couple things. Um, one, so proud of our athlet all of our students, the teachers, but our athletes that participated in the state um champion championship process, the quarterfinals, our volleyball team. I was able to attend the state um the game down in the falls. Um it's so proud to be a Bobcat. I love our community. I love they show

up and support our teams. We had one evening when um NFHS could not show the football game in Napa and there was a bunch of us at home that just couldn't watch the game and Jamie Blandon got on there and did Facebook live and they just the community, the people that love our kids, whether they had kids playing or not. I just love how much adoration our community has for our kids. So, um that was great. I do appreciate the board and the superintendent um for allowing me to have these absences to participate and watch my boys um play for um Bobcat football team and um sitting at this table being a part of the board is really important critical work. Um having a voice to make a difference for our students is so important.

Um and I don't take that lightly. So it does you know I do appreciate that you give me the grace to do that but I do commit to be here and use my voice for that. is really important with that. I would like to find a way to have conversations with the board or the superintendent in the future, whatever that looks like, to advocate a little bit more for student voice at the table. What does it mean? Um to be able to bring forward the student voice. Um I know there's a process. I don't know what that is. Um but I just wanted to plant the seed for whatever the superintendent and the board want to figure out how we might be able to advance our conversation. And that thank you for letting me be.

I just want to say thank you to that. Thanks for coming. That's it's really awesome. I love it when you know you're getting updates about what's actually going on because you don't hear it very often and when you don't have a kid that's involved then it's like what's going on. [laughter] And then >> yeah, thank you. And then um also I related like that school did the um the teacher conferences like they do at the high school where they you can just come in and and see them whenever it's accommodating or you go unless you have to have an actual schedule one but I think that worked out really well for us school and uh with that let's join the meeting.
