I appreciate the opportunity. >> Yeah. >> And I'll put your kids through the paces. >> All right. Thank you very much. Run away papers. >> All right. Financial reports. Uh Kelly did a memo in her absence because she was going to be out of the office. So we already knew that. So she included a written memo. So um I read through it briefly. I was um jumped out at me. But if you have questions, I'm happy to answer any of those that I can. >> Everything looks on track. >> Looks like it. From what I can
008see, >> still estimating about 1.5 million in cash carryover, which is good. 1% building and district reports, elementary school. Yeah, Katrina's reports in here. Enrollment running about 178, which is uh you know, we we were a little more on the fall. We've dropped down. We're back about where we started the school year at the elementary. Attendance is up about 92% couple percentage up from April. Um think the behavior data looks pretty good. at the spring band concert tomorrow night. Mr. Dunigan sporting that pink hair. Is that was that for tomorrow night's band? >> He uh he had a bet with his sixth graders and if they could do something I can't remember exactly what it was that he would dye his hair pink and that is the um third touchup in the last week. >>
009I got Yeah, he was telling me they had to score above last year's sixth grade. in I guess there's like a couple different things they can score in. If they scored in two, then he was going to dye it and do a mohawk. If they did one, then he was just going to dye it. So, they voted on a coloring this last week. >> Nice. >> The um sixth grade outdoor school are going up to camp next week for three nights, two or two nights, three days. room do it. They're going to do a field day on June 10th and their last day at school with sixth grade promotion is June 11th. >> All right. We held parent teacher conferences on April 17th. We reached out to parents in a number of different ways. We
010successfully reached out to about 63% of students, parents through in-person meetings, conversations over the phone, and the ability to leave detailed phone messages and emails. Um, this data is down 22% from our November conferences. The largest deficit group from November to now was the ability to have conversations with seventh grade parents. Um, I believe a piece of this was do some recordkeeping because some of those parents were in attendance, but they weren't marked as having um conferences even though they were walking our halls and talking to people. So, um, we'll work on that. Um, I will admit that we tend to score lower in the spring. Um, that's pretty normal. Uh, junior high art class. On May 13th, four junior high art students had their art on display at the Art of Prevention Show at
011the Winston Community Center. On May 29th, seven of our junior high art students and Mrs. Garrett will be attending the UVR art show in Roseberg where their art will be displayed and each of the students have the opportunity to show off their pieces. They'll be given name tags. They're allowed to talk about their pieces. It's a pretty cool opportunity for our kids to to be a part of. Um, UCCC skills camp. We sent approximately nine students to UCCC to compete in the welding competitions today. I have not gotten the results because that was today. Um, >> Rainwater took second in advance. I forgot which one. And then he took third in another one. >> Nice. >> I don't know about the others, but I saw him at the game. So, I got that. >> Uh,
012message from the staff. This was uh sent by our staff. On behalf of the staff and association, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the district administration and school board for a thoughtful and supportive teacher appreciation week as well as for the continued support shown through the school year. The staff would also like to personally thank the district administrators and school board for their continued partnership, collaboration, support of staff and students within our schools. We appreciate the positive working relationship that continues to support our district and look forward to continuing that partnership into the next school year. Uh DFPA t uh pack test. The DFBA has been hosting pack test on our track this year. Uh, one of our seniors went down um this last week and completed it. So, because he's looking
013to join the DFBA. >> I had a little joke there. What did he get back up? >> Uh, Marines, Ayah Hilderbrand will be heading to boot camp on June 1st to join the reserves. and elementary teacher. Uh, graduating senior this year, Aiden James, is planning on attending UCCC next year and then transferring to a four-year school to get his elementary education license. Uh, maybe he'll be one of another one of our graduates who come back and support our kids and teach. Be kind of cool. >> Nice. >> Um, attached. We have enrollment data. Um, kind of holding steady. Uh, lost one kid um who got ill and the parents pulled him out. Um financials about the same. Uh remember negative numbers are good. Um not sure how that works. Attached is the rough draft of
014our graduation week uh schedule that we are putting together. I will say rough draft, but I think it won't change a whole lot. Um the hot pink is the color. And then on the following page is the list of our graduating class of 2026 which we will need to um evaluate and accept for this coming year. >> What were the majority of the drops from like how we went from 170 down to 157? Like were those >> multitude of reasons? >> Oh, was it just kind of a >> Oh, it's it's Yeah. So, yeah. Um, so numbers in early fall tend to be high. Um, we've lost a ton of kids to online school. There is a ton of kids who have attendance issues or don't want to get up in the morning and they're
015like, I could go to an online school and I can work on a computer and sometimes they're successful and sometimes they come back to us. Um, recently I've had a couple kids pulled from our school due to family situations where they're having to go live with aunts, uncles, grandparents, and they're completely moving to other districts. Um, so it's, you know, I think I being here, I talked about we have a very nomadic student population. So, one of the conversations I had with Erica, we have kids, I mean, you have kids who come in, they're here for a month, and then they're gone. Um, we had two new kids start two weeks ago. So, you know, you know, you're looking at our numbers are kind of consistent, but it's like there's still fluctuation within those numbers.
016>> Sure. Okay. >> It's just it's it's really weird. Um, I will say we do lose a lot of kids to online school and right now Baker Web Academy has a higher percentage than you know what they should. How many do you think >> Baker was probably pulling about 6% right now? >> Wow. Which is 3%'s 3.1 I think is where we have to sign off and you're pulling about six. So >> that's what 10 kids probably something like thatund $20,000. >> Yeah, it's not cheap. >> But I'm going be honest, a lot of it is attendance related. All right. Special education report. Um kind of holding steady where we're at. Um K through six has 46. We have three in process. Those eligibility and possible IEP meetings are happening in the next week or
017so. Um seventh and eighth grade there's 30 students, one is in the process. Um and 9th through 12 has 28. Um speech only right now is three with there's five in the queue for next year to process the eligibility stage. Um, and then the back page just has our total kind of the starting of next year will be 117 students if all the ones we currently have plus um six incoming kindergarten students. So, we'll kind of see what that looks like throughout the year. You got a chance to observe a couple of those kids today. >> Today? Yep. And I'll go and see one more tomorrow. >> Yeah. Head start. >> Are kindergarteners like some of the easiest to work out of an IEP? Hopefully by say third grade. It's really hard because it depends
018on their eligibility. Um, if they're eligible under, let's say, autism spectrum disorder, they'll probably never work out of that eligibility. >> Sure. >> Um, require services. um K through third grade. Oftent times they kids come in with an eligibility of developmental delay because it's really early stages to identify what their possible disability category could be. Um at at third grade though, you have to identify them if they're if they remain eligible under something else because um developmental delay goes away. So it's at that point that that three-year reelability that we they're still if they still qualify. If they do, it's often under a category like specific learning disability or other health impairment. If they have like ADHD, um maybe it's speech and language impairment. Um so it's really just specific to the student and their
019eligibility. And so with these six that are coming in, what are majority of them? Will they be being reassessed in third grade? >> Okay. >> Yeah, they certainly will. Yeah, that'll be their threeyear readal. >> Are any of them speech only right now? >> Two. There's two. Um, sometimes if they're identified for speech and that's their eligibility, it's not uncommon for them to then be identified academic services as well. >> Um, but also there's the case where they just stay speech only and then when their speech therapy and things improve, they no longer need services for that. >> Did we end up already I you guys kind of briefly touched on it a couple meetings ago that because of our numbers that we were going to have to submit a report to the state. Has
020that been done? significant disproportionality is working on it right now. >> It's like process, you know, we met as administrative team and she's meeting with case managers, classroom teachers. >> It's an ongoing process where OD has a timeline of certain um kind of check-in points and the next one isn't until June and then we'll retouch again um in the fall. And then it'll be ongoing throughout next year until we identify like the funds that we're going to use and then it'll kind of be an ongoing maintenance um over the next couple years. Um right now I'm working to kind of solidify the root cause analysis for our significant disproportionality flag. >> Um I'm happy to share that with you um >> at some point. Yeah, if we can get a copy of that report >>
021for sure. >> Thanks. >> You're welcome. >> Yeah. Maintenance. Um, besides all the field stuff, now they're transitioning to watering. They want to thank you again for donation of that pump. >> Did it run? >> Yeah, it did run. Great. running >> need those. >> Yeah. Um I could talk about I think I'll wait till the discussion items 53 and 54 to talk about the cops grant and the schoolyard project. >> We had our facilities uh committee meeting. We talked about uh the grandstand project, kind of reviewed a a budget. We're going to go out and try to get some donations for some lumber. Um Cody has a really good plan on, you know, taking it down in sections, like 16 foot sections, rebuild it, tear it down, rebuild the sections at a time. And
022uh we kind of we got to the point where um we were talking about the bond potential bond levy projects. Then we ran out of time because the budget committee meeting was starting. So we'll get to that. Trying to get some ideas if the facility committee would uh prioritize any of those long range facility plan uh pieces. Um uh the state is now requiring that we adopt an interim assessment. Uh so uh we got together the building principles. We're already using some Renaissance learning pro uh products called accelerated reader that the kids use mostly in the elementary school. They they'll read a book, they'll take a comprehension test, then they'll move on. It's um it's a pretty good program. Well, they have two assessments uh in that in the Renaissance Learning. One's called Star Reader
023and the other one's called Star Math. Those were uh one of five acceptable interim assessments uh that the state asked us to uh adopt. So, that's the uh direction we're going to go at least for next year. We'll see how that goes. We should get some data, some test data uh from those that we can share with the board as part of uh student um achievement results in progress. Uh the other uh our TINET, we're talking about special ed, our TINET is a software program that we use to uh have a database all our students on IEPs and their records and whatnot. Well, it's it's going away. So, we're looking for an alternative. And there's a student information system that 90% uh student information system uh that 90% of the districts in Oregon use. It's
024called Synergy. It has a special education uh database component to it. And so we're going to start uh the transitioning to Synergy uh to start the 2072 28 school year, but they'll they'll start populating the database and doing some test runs and begin training office personnel, district personnel um during next school year. So we'll finish up with Infinite Campus next year and then transition to Synergy. And that's All I have in that report. >> Yeah, I've got uh in your packet I've got in my scribbling coordinator stipen request. I just put 8K. But but basically Title One is a federal program. We did about $125,000 a year in title one funding. It's u it's used to support additional um uh pull out or push in uh strategies for students who are reading below uh grade
025level. Uh and so they'll get a little extra dose of support. That's how we fund most of our uh instructional assistance in the title one area. What we we don't have we pretty much have uh I think Laura Ellison is kind of a lead IIA. We don't have a certified person that to kind of coordinates maps out each week what what those IAS are going to be working with those students. And so what uh what Katrina suggested, I think it's a good idea for at least next year is we'll take somebody a certified staff member who has a reading endorsement in in addition to their um uh teaching license uh and have them be the coordinator and pay them a stipen using the grant funds the title one. So that's that's a strategy that we're
026hoping to to do. We'll ask you to approve that uh position under the business uh for that second. We don't have any candidates yet, but we'll we like to advertise for it. >> How many have that endorsement at the elementary? >> You know, I don't know. I would imagine a few. It's a lot of lot of uh teaching lensure programs. they kind of recommend they pick up a reading endorsement or a math endorsement, but uh >> doesn't um I think Bud >> Bud understanding it was Bud was the old >> teacher had >> I think uh we have one of the ones you guys approved for hiring either in April or March or two of the ones I think they're both coming in. >> Yeah, I think both the new hires exactly >> endorsements. So
027there's possibilities there. There's a few. >> Um, so this is just kind of like a a portion of what because we used to have the title one teacher. >> Um, and this is just seems like a portion of those duties and not like the full >> not like a standalone title one teacher. It's just >> Right. Right. >> It's extra duty. >> Yeah. Federal money has really uh been depleted the last uh decade. you know, you know, with our population and whatnot, you know, we should be over $200,000 in federal revenue has been cut back significantly. I mean, it's it's all over. But >> we already have this or this is this a grant that we're working. >> We we have we annually apply for title one grant. Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's a it's
028an entitlement program. So all we have to do is apply. >> So um I just put I just plugged this in here. This doesn't really mean anything. I put it in a placeholder the seismic. It's like uh Joe Slack when he was here with the uh at the board meeting last month and then I was talking to him on the phone. He goes, "You guys really need to apply for that other seismic grant. You qualify. It'll help you put a new roof on the high school annex building." And uh we didn't have the greatest experience with the last seismic grant. Uh but I think that the the annex building will be pretty cut and dry. It's it's a it needs a roof. And this will be like about a two I think they're up to
029about two and a half million. And Russell was saying, well, you know, if they have to dig into the floor, we might get all that as best as floor tile removed as well. So, >> I feel like an earthquake would definitely pop those tiles. >> Yeah, there there's quite a few that are crumbling. >> Argument can be said for that. >> So, the um >> you're probably going to lose your senior locker bay windows. They'll probably have to Well, that's true. >> You think? >> Yeah. They don't They don't like windows precisely. >> Well, we could tell uh uh Joe to design something. >> They They'll probably do like a Yeah. So, something something on the bottom and something on the top with a window right there or something. >> Anyways, with your approval, uh
030later in the uh meeting, I will call Joe and say, "All right, we we'd like to see if we can get that." It's not a done deal. We still still an application, but >> Well, we we applied for it a couple years ago. got it and then eventually turned it down. >> Oh, it is. >> Yes. >> So, just because we didn't get it doesn't mean we have to go through it. >> Project. >> Yeah. I put uh I put in your packet uh kind of a site plan. little small and then kind of an elevation of of basically the the site plan. Uh you can kind of see where the building footprint is and then the the elevations if you start on the top and work your way down. It's kind of the kind
031of walks you through what those things will look like. They uh on Monday at at three they did a walk through. I think there were two contractors there. Uh then we had our maintenance folks there. Uh Erica, incoming superintendent was there so she can get familiar with the project. Um of course Katrina. So they walked through the site, got their questions. They were kind of looking at the bid uh bid documents and bids are due in a couple weeks. We'll see if we get any interest. And I also put the budget, you know, the budgets in there. It's 1.4 million. So about 1.1 million of that will be the construction cost with contingency. And then about 300,000 in project management from the TPL folks. update on the grant project. >> Yeah, I put this in
032your packet. It doesn't really mean anything. It's just a placeholder, but it kind of got a little overview on what the cops grant actually is. Um, we did uh James from Wire Map was out uh two days. They did walkthroughs with our Eric, our technology guy. Rocky and Vincent so we could kind of get a good scope of the work and they could make some notes on our needs. We're trying to do some coordination with the with the schoolyard project um in terms of uh security fencing and gates that may be controlled uh with magnetic uh uh door locks and whatnot. But, uh, one question I think we're trying to work our way through is the the cops grant has, uh, addition additional cameras to our video surveillance system that we have in both schools
033and the district office. Um, what I learned was that we we don't own that equipment. We lease it through Douglas ESD. It has a software component. Stop me if I'm wrong. It has a stuff software component and cameras and it's on our network. So that's really the only thing is we provide as the backbone. U the cops grant was proposing to add cameras to our existing network and then replace uh our software with a different program that they would recommend. Well, that we're going to have to work through that because we don't own our cameras and we and our we currently lease the system. We pay seven or eight thousand dollars a year to the ESD for the video uh the storage you know the cloud service and software and cameras. So I I don't
034know if if the cops grant will just allow us to add cameras to existing system and continue to use the ESD software. That's one of the things that kind of popped up. Other than that, a lot of key card entry stuff, security fencing. Um, yeah, just main create some vestibule space to make sure that people just don't have open access to any of our buildings. >> And we did the the two schools separate on that, right? >> Yes. Yes. facilities committee bond. >> Yeah, I I brought in we we were talking about uh at the last board meeting uh and I I've still throwing out this this uh number of 85 cents per thousand that could possibly generate about 4.5 million of uh for a 15-year bond levy. Um, and then when you get the
035uh match from the state grant, so you'd have roughly $9 million of projects to do. Um, and then I think uh the board would wanted to know what what kind of what would the steps be? And so I've kind of summarized that to the facility committee. So I just took a copy of the facility committee uh meeting agenda that we did because I had written information in there. Um, if if if you're if you're going to look at a bond measure for a year from now, basically May of 2027, you kind of need to get started like August, September. Uh, you know, decide what you want to do and uh and then put a you use a facility committee, get another kind of a bond committee together. uh you you really need and I pulled
036up because I've worked with her before. This is Carol Samuels. She is like the expert on helping you. She's the one who could tell you exactly how much you could generate at 85 cents per thousand. If you say we we want $4.5 million, she would say, "Okay, here's the rate and here's the term." And then she goes out and sells your bonds on the open market. you know, uh, once you get passed, once a committee, if you get the support that you got for the, um, didn't the, didn't the, uh, graveyard uh, levy pass? >> Yeah, but that was.1 cent, right? >> I know. >> Six cents per thousand. >> That was a six cents per Yeah. >> All I'm saying is if you get the same people generate to go up to 85 cents
037per thousand. Yeah, >> you could get it passed. But anyways, uh Carol Samuels is is there are other people that do it. She's the best. I worked with her three times. So, she's >> awesome. >> Yep. And then, um >> is that fair for us to put on the new superintendent right off the get-go? >> Absolutely. She has experience with the bond they passed in Enterprise. >> Maybe, maybe they use Carol. Maybe they used a lot of interaction. I did I was interested to see who passed bond levies uh yesterday. Uh so the OSBA published that uh the the the only ones that passed, at least from what I could see from this OSBA thing, were the ones who already had a levy on the tax roles. So, they were asking voters to just renew
038a 15-year levy or a 20-year levy or a fiveyear levy. So, like Susla uh school district went out. Oh my gosh. They went out for a well. I don't see it. They It went down 64% against, but they were asking for a ton of money. Uh Brookings Harbor went down by, you know, 58 cents against. Uh Newberg was uh trying to pass just a five-year local option levy and it went down 60% against um Seaside Athena Weston. They Athena Weston actually passed a $5 million bond with a $5 million uh matching to build a career trade science and technical education center. I thought that was pretty cool. >> Uh but anyways, then I have a I asked OSBA to send me a historical thing. So, I have who who went out for bonds and who
039passed it and who failed uh from now all the way down out to to 20 18 I think. So, >> I know Lindell passed a geo bond in 2020, but they were the same. They had a sunsetting one and they just >> Yeah. So, we asked Carol, we don't want to increase our tax rate, so how much money can we get for not increasing our tax rate? So, we worked backwards. usually ask for a dollar amount and then they set the tax rate. We worked backwards. We said we don't want to change this. How much? >> So, you use Carol, too. >> She's the best. >> Well, I used one of her partners, but yes, Carol's team is fabulous. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So, anyways, I I I just put a kind of a timeline,
040but you basically you start in the in the late summer, fall, and and work up to uh work your way up to uh doortodoor full court press in you know March April I mean we pass the we pass the one in Oakland we had uh FFA kids leadership kids just canvasing all of Oakland knocking on doors and we had pamphlets that they were handing out and again we didn't pass it the first time in November but then trimmed it back and passed it in in the May ballot. But I mean, I I don't know your community as well as you do, but it seems like there's a huge amount of support for the schools. And if if you do enough uh uh marketing to help them understand what the needs are, and I like what
041you said, I think at the last meeting, it'd be nice to see something, you know, not just underground piping and roofing and stuff, but something that people say, "Oh, we're going to do this, this, and this piece." Probably generate some interest. So, policy. >> Yeah. First reading. This this is the policy update uh that we get, you know, three four times a year. Uh I tend to focus on just what's required, but you could see uh there are a lot of highly recommended ones. So, at some point you may want to address those. But the required ones on this one are evaluation, superintendent, integrated pest management, equal uh employment opportunity and sexual harassment. And the um I just kind of uh what's in your packet is your current policy and then the the um recommended
042policy from OSBA. So the first page and then the next page would be one at a n you know if you do a sidebyside comparison u like the valuation of the superintendent there's some new language in the third paragraph and and I will say that some of your policies are kind of old like 2014. So, what that usually tells me is that you had OSBA do a an audit and then you and then you went through and updated all your policies all at the same time in 2014 is my guess. But there, you know, you do have at least one policy in this thing that you just renewed that you just uh revised last year or 2024, I think. But anyways, the evaluation superintendent, if you look at that shaded part on the OSB sample
043policy, that's new language. Anything that's shaded, that's kind and a lot of times the policy, the language isn't much, but they just want to give you new references like statutes, whether it's federal or state. Um, and so not much on evaluation. Superintendent just talks about the um uh any direct you will will not include evaluation or directive of personnel concerning district goals objectives. So that language is new on the um integrated policy uh pest management. yours is like in 2014. That really didn't change too much. Uh but it added uh in the first paragraph it's adding um that the integrated pest management plan and list of chemicals being used or or or activities uh for pest management will be available to public through the district's website. So we'll give Karinda a little bit of work
044to post it. You may might already be gone there. I didn't look for it. sometimes. And then um uh there's another section in there who you designate. Uh oh, and then they added under uh under item eight. Uh you have to keep for at least four years of following application date records and applied pesticides that include they added the sentence the pest condition that prompted the application. So if you had mice, you say, "Oh, we had mice, so we had to put in some traps." Um, and you have not just the location, but the location and description of the area. So that's really the only things that change. And then at the very end of the proposed policy is um uh every five years the board has to review the integrated pest management plan. So
045that's that one. uh the equal opportunity and uh employment opportunity that adds uh veteran and service member language and then how we communicate uh either through handbooks and the website more work for Kinda. Uh and then some procedural language. So that's what's changed on that one. Then uh sexual harassment. This is the one that you actually uh just revised on June 19th of 2024. So it so the only thing that uh we have to change the contact information on the second page and then um uh additional notice to person initiating the complaint. So once you go through your procedures for how you um handle a a complaint, there's new language that you uh notify the person that actually initiated complaint. So that's that's the new language in that one. So that's your that was this
046would qualify as your first reading. And what we'll do in June is we'll we'll clean up uh these four policies so that you can look at what the uh policy will look like with the new language and you could have take a look at it for adoption. If you want, you look at that list of of the other policies. If you see anything that you that's highly recommended, if you want, you can just jump on the website and look at one of our existing policies and see if you want to uh address it and then we can get you the um sample OSBA policy to to consider. So, were there two, >> but were there two ch were there supposed to be two changes to the sexual harassment? >> Which one? Sexual harassment. >> I
047just on the on the policy update. >> Oh, >> there's a sexual harassment required and then there's a a GD there's two >> they're the same policy. uh GBN and there's a J >> staff. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's it's the same policy. What we'll do is we'll bring it. It's the same policy, but because they're in different sections of your board policy. One's under personnel and one's under students. >> Okay. Okay. Make sure that we weren't messing. >> Yeah. No, I I I I just didn't want to add another package of pages. >> That's fine. I just wanted to make sure that I was understanding. >> But yeah, thanks for point for recognizing that. What we'll do is bring them both to you. You can see on that uh yeah, you got GBN
048and JBA. One is personnel and one anything that starts with a J is all students and anything that starts with a G is personnel. Can we see the recordings? >> Can we get a copy of the one that is the recordings of the board meetings? The policy the standard policy on the recordings and minutes of the board meetings. >> Oh. Oh, okay. We'll just I'll just uh email that out to you. >> Perfect. >> That's B DG. Yeah. All right, let's be summer conference. >> Uh, you probably all got this in an email, but basically Thursday, July 16th from 9 to 3:30 at LCC is your uh summer uh board conference. If anybody's interested in attending, just let us know. We'll sign you up. And you might want to look like we could download the
049agenda to see if there's anything interested in there. if you're going to take a day off work to go. >> Thank you. >> Executive order. >> I just againformational the governor um in fact I just uh did the uh survey that OD is asking. Thank thank you Russell. They sent it to Russell. Superintendent Russell. >> Yes. >> Superintendent. They sent it to me and they said, "Oh, it's due uh Friday." And so I thankfully one of the things I did early on is I just wanted to check our instructional minutes like how many minutes are kids actually in classroom when you take out the lunch and the passing period and uh our professional development day. So I already had all the things calculated which is nice. But the reason the governor passed is because a
050lot of school districts to balance their budgets, they're cutting school days. And so like our district, Rachel can help me out. If we cut a school day, we'd probably save $50,000 or something like that. I'm just ballpark. And so big districts, if they cut a school day, they're saving a million dollars or, you know, whatever for the day. So they oh we can balance our budget by reducing how many days we have kids in school and you know everybody takes a pay cut for those days off and governor said no you can't do that anymore. So uh so this survey that I just filled today was what were your instructional time last year? What are your instructional time this year? What is your instructional planning for next year? And of course, ours are all the
051same, but there are districts who have decided they wanted to cut days, which is now uh against the executive order, and wouldn't be able to do that. So, I was looking I think I was read an art read an article about Newberg who tried to go out for a local option levy for I don't know $20 million and it failed. They said they're going to have to cut days if they didn't pass that levy. Well, now they can't cut days because the governor's executive order. So, now they'll be cutting staff. I looked into it one time and like Texas and Florida kids had I want to say almost a full year of education more than the average Oregon kid because of the instruction days they have compared >> to their 12 years of schooling. >>
052So, they actually with almost a full year. So, we're kind of graduating juniors, >> you know, basically you can look at it. >> Right to 6.0 business items. We have seismic grant application for the annex annex. Entertain. >> Um, I will make a motion to move forward with pursuing the seismic grant application. Second motion second in favor 6.2 two title one coordinator and that is going to be grant funds for that. >> I will make a motion to approve the title one coordinator stipen. All those in favor 6.3 It could be the very last. Yeah. Back side was basically add this U position as a M memorandum of understanding with the classified contract. We're doing that because this contract ends this year. >> No, we we went from have a food service director and and
053to lower our >> Yes. But the classified contract modification ends in 2027. >> Yeah. So, we have one more year of the uh classified actually both contracts or two-year contracts that end uh next school year. Yeah, they're just we just add add if we keep this um configuration where we have a head cook instead of a food service director. Then we just we negotiate the contract add this position into the actual contract. >> I'll make a motion to the head. >> I will second that. I have a motion and a second. validate class of 2026 graduates. >> Mr. Hawks would be happy to read all their names if you'd like. >> I would love it to hear that. Same. I want to hear it. >> Me, too. >> Let's hear it right now. There's at
054least two people really interested. All right. So, our class of 2026 graduating class, uh, Johnny Barrett, Joshua Bouquet, Cameron Chambers, Britney Gistler, Ayah Hildebrand, Aiden James, Corbin Clo, Nicholas McKini, Salvatore Migori, Piper Mitchell, Steven Nordike, Len Rainwater, Maya Sanderson Perez, and Cody to >> Okay, thanks for holding your >> All the names we're in. say you're also way better at pronunciation. >> I would have messed up the second one. I have said >> yes. >> Vqua. >> I will make a motion to approve the class of 2026 graduates. >> I have a motion. All those in favor graduates. >> Now there is one more piece of business action. Yeah, Amanda, >> I need a board member to hand out diplomas at graduation. >> Come on. >> And it sounds like John and Irwin have a
055uh a scheduled event that day. So, it comes down to you and Chantel. >> Chantel's not here today. >> And then that would allow you to be in the stands for Chantel to do it next year and then figure out I actually did a little >> Oh, that's fantastic. >> That's fun. >> Well, I mean, if Cole wants me to >> do you hand him the diploma and whisper to him like, >> "No, >> thank you. All right. Uh 7.0 business action items. Anything >> and then we have 8.0 regular session June 17th. Anything we have? >> Nothing before that. Uh I was going to mention that since Erica will start July 1st. I know you don't normally have a meeting in July, but it might be good for a short meeting on that July
0561st if if you're all available so you can get all the uh designations and get bank accounts and all that stuff set up. >> Okay. >> Do we want to go now? Do do you want to do a July July, but July 1st is a Wednesday. >> Yeah, she's July. >> She will be here July 1. >> Yeah. So, normally it would be >> the 15th. >> 15th. >> Right. >> Correct. Our normal board meeting, >> right? >> I mean, if you want to have a regular boardman, you can wait till the 15th. I just a lot of school boards don't like to meet in July because they're taking vacations. >> We normally don't skip it, >> but if you do if you just say, "Okay, July 1st, we come in for 30 minutes and
057do our designations and practice. >> Does it have to be the first? It's going to be like the >> be >> Well, you're you're talking to the wrong guy. I'm sorry. >> I have dates for me. Is your anniversary? >> On the 3. >> So, you're leaving on the first? >> I don't make plans yet. I just I I have a plan to have a plan to make 20 years. That's a big deal. I feel >> I I don't care. We can make do whatever. >> Eight, six, seven. I I don't know. I'm I'm thinking maybe either the 8th or push it the 15th because I hate to just like hey happy first day school like I just you want to do the ethy almost 7 o'clock time. Yes, please. That was cool that she
058stuck around for the band. >> Yeah, great. >> Okay. Uh 9.0 public comment time. >> Just one note about your designation meeting. You may get some information from Kelly or Angie to do it in June. Okay. >> At your June meeting because then in July you'll approve it because that's what has to go to the bank is the approved minutes. So if you do it in July, then it's got to wait till August and then you're like that much further. So you may get some information to do the two um for Angie as business manager and Erica as your superintendent just so that you're that much closer to making those steps happen. No comment. Do we have an executive session? I guess we are then ready.
