Follow me in the pledge of allegiance. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Great, please. >> Thank you, Lord, for this day and for our great country. I also appreciate so much uh getting to share these experiences with these uh employees at Mcconal School Corporation where we work together for the betterment of our community. Just ask that you bless our efforts with uh for the best for our kids in your name. Amen. >> Amen. Thank you. Okay, with that I'll call the Conf School Corporation Board of School Trustees March 18th, 2026 meeting to order. Roll call, please. >> Here, Greg Bington >> here. >> Andrew Adams >> here, >>
Alan Wilson, Shel >> here, Tim White here, Robert Dane >> here. Brings us up to item 1.2, additions or deletions to the agenda. >> Yes, sir. Have a couple of additions. uh miscellaneous uh personnel 1.2.1 Brett Gordon is a transfer from special ed to project the way and then 1.2.1.2 um is Dylan Clay who will transfer to special education at the middle school to take Mr. Len's spot that's approved. >> Okay, hearing that I'll entertain a motion to approve the agenda as amended. >> So moved. >> Second. >> I second. Any questions, comments on the agenda? Hearing? None. All those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Opposed. Same sign. Motion carries. Item 2.1, student rotarian for March. Leah. >> Yeah. Ask Lee to step up here with me. Got to brag on her
a little bit. Stand right here. All right. I know you don't seem the same. Yeah. The Marshall hearing of the month is Leah Bogs, daughter of Tim and Karen Bogs. Leah is involved in multiple school clubs including National Honor Society, Sunshine Society, Counterpoint Show Choir, and Theater Troop 106. She has also been part of the French club and she reminded everybody at Rotary that we don't have French club anymore the fellowship of Christian athletes. During her years in theaters she has been on sta stage manager, student production assistant and dance captain. Uh she has also played four years of volleyball serving as captain for one year, men's girls basketball for three years and completed and competed in two years of track and field. Outside of school, she is actively involved in the Abundant Life Church
in Peru, volunteering at events, services, and teaching on Sunday mornings. Leah is currently sixth in her class with a GPA of 12.0 and will graduate with academic honors. She has also received awards throughout high school, including academic allconerence, Miami County Holiday Tournament all academic team, and multiple distinguished honor role recognitions over the over her four years. She is currently working toward earning her Indiana College CPS, needing only one more college credit class to complete uh the required 30 credit hours for her first year of college. That also saves a little bit of money down the road, so that's good stuff. In her free time, I don't think she has a whole lot of that. Uh, she likes to hang out with friends, play pickle ball, go on walks, and read books. She plans to continue
her studies at either Indiana University or Purdue University, majoring in nursing. Her ultimate goal is to be accepted into a three-year program to become a certified registered nurse. >> Anast certified registered nurse anesthetist. >> Anastthetist. What do they do? >> Anesthesiology. >> Oo. Leah Balls. Let's give her a round of applause. Hold this right here. >> Congratulations. Good luck. My daughter loved the stage production and things when she was in school and her student after school too. She's working for Eastern today in fact. >> Thank you. Okay, that brings us up to item 3.1, approval minutes, regular meeting dated February 25th, 2026. Entertain a motion to approve those minutes. So, >> second. >> Any questions or comments? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I sir. >> I oppos. Same sign brings down
to item 8 or 4.14.2 financial business. >> Yes. Ask for your approval of payroll claim listing check dated 22726 amount of $464,39943. Check dated 313 of 26 amount of $497,754.39. And that accounts payable register 22326 to 313 of 26 amount of 1,292,6928 cents. Ask for your approval as presented. >> Thank you. Entertain a motion to approve the financial business as given. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any questions on the docket? >> Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I opposed. Same sign. Motion carries. >> Number five, visitor comments. >> There are none. So, we'll go right now to items 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, personnel. Quite a lengthy list tonight. Um, ask for your approval recommendations. Emily Dion, instructional assistant, middle school. Jeremy Ding, your second grade uh level chair. Uh, Chase
Haney, volunteer baseball coach. Katie Townson, substitute bus driver. Steve Dokenau, varsity baseball assistant coach. Elizabeth Shaunberger, uh, substitute bus aid. Rebecca Hansen, boys track assistant coach. Rich Percal, girls tennis coach, head coach. Uh, Kelsey Seymour, uh, girls track and field assistant. Sarah Jones, junior class sponsor, senior class co-sponsor, student council, uh, co-sponsor at the high school. Marissa Hos transferred from part-time cafeteria staff to part-time 4-hour cafeteria position. Brett Warden transferred from special education to Project Lead the Way at
the middle school. And then Dylan Clayool uh transfer from special education at the high school to special education at the middle school. Ask for your approval. Entertain a motion to approve the personnel report as given. >> So move. >> Second. Second. >> Any questions, comments on first? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I >> oppose. Same sign. >> All abstain. >> One obstainer. Okay. Do we have anybody we want to introduce that we just >> Yeah. If you want to look in the back of the room, there's a gentleman in a red tie. There's our new football coach, special ed teacher. >> Oh, man. I got a little Hello. Hi, everybody. Tell tell us a little bit about yourself, what your background was real quick. >> Yeah, my name is Ethan Robbins.
Uh I come from Greenfield, Indiana, where I've coached most recently uh out there at Greenfield Central and Eastern Hancock where I was a defense coordinator for both teams. Uh have a little bit of experience in Indianapolis at Pike High School as well for a couple years. Um Noblesville kid. I grew up on the south side, so I've I've really been everywhere around the state in the last 27 years. So I'm really really excited to be here. I'm really happy that you guys have chosen me to lead this program. And like I said, I I'm I more excited for the opportunity than I can let on right now. So, thank you. >> Real quickly, you don't want to miss this opportunity. There's somebody sitting to your side. You want to introduce her as well. >> This
is my fiance, Brooke. Uh she's a fifth grade teacher at Mount Vernon Intermediate School in Fortville, Indiana. And my better half. >> Thank you. >> Welcome. >> Thank you. >> Okay. brings us up to new business item 8.1 facility update. Miss Ker off last month put him to work, right? Um, a lot of probably I say 90% of my staff is going to be here over spring break. We have a lot of small projects going on. We are uh besides deep cleaning of the buildings, uh all my four hyd custodials are doing PM filter changes next week. Um Rick Hayes is prepping the outside sports complex and uh Josie is uh our lady that cleans admin is deep cleaning everything next week. So they're they're very busy. Custodial staff is doing everything from changing light
bulbs also and things that they can't normally get done. A lot of them are working 8 to 4. so they could be together a little bit, a little bit of a team morale and also it's a lot easier to get more things done. Um, we're going to uh clean the tunnels out next week so we can start on the 27th of April with that project. And then we're also working on a I'm working on a spring uh on a project during spring break. We're hoping in the middle school to in-house that we're going to take the panels in the hallway and change them to LED and do that in-house. So, I'm working with a com a couple of companies just to give them measurements and at no cost. They come in and say, "This is
how many you need. This is what what you might need to do different." So, we're hoping with moving the staff out of the high school in June and July, they'll give them some opportunity to do some of that stuff over there. So, that's kind of what we're looking at. Also, I don't know if many of you remember, but about a year ago, there was a ceiling unit heater going into the high school, the main entrance that we're replacing during spring break. So, we'll be moving the main entrance of the high school down to close to where the IT department is, just east of the main entrance for the and that should be done in 5 days. So, as you can tell, staff is busy and most of them, like I said, I say 90% of
them are working during spring break if turns to work. So, it will be a we kind of give them a little boost. They have about a half an hour lunch. So, a lot of times they'll be able to have food ordered and delivered and they have lunch together and stuff. So, it's it's nice when they can all work together like that on day shift. the high school staying on first, second, third, and third shift just because all the sporting activities, they're going to stick on the same shift. So, it's been a busy week. Um, >> thank you for getting on that roof right away and getting the people here and getting it sealed up because it went over Sunday. We had a swimming pool at the elementary and we never had >> and I can't
say enough good about between Stephanie Tid and her staff and I had a three of them on shift already for to start shoot how quickly they all work to get kids downstairs and get them safe. Um we've been working at that company that the company showed up when I called him. He said, "Give me less than 30 minutes. I'm galvesting. I'll be there soon." And they worked out Saturday from 8:30 to 8:00 at night. Uh, some of it started coming back up on Sunday evening. They came back out and buttoned things up and I think we only moved CL three classrooms for two days out of that area and then moved them back. So, they've worked hard. So, >> good job everybody on that. So, any questions? >> Who who'd you use her? >> McGuffs.
I've used them prior. Yeah. And uh I probably used them off and on for 15 years, and they're out of Muny Cooko and Rex Huntington. >> Thank you. >> Yep. >> Anything else? >> Little tidbit that I did learn about Katherine on this is she doesn't like heights very well. So, going up on the roof is not like right there in her comfort zone. can't watch me. I probably would have crawled across. But Stephanie, Ted got up there and stood straight up. I thought, "Oh, okay. Here we go." So, but it it was a good learning experience even for Stephanie. She thought, "This is what it looks like up here." >> So, but it was a could have been a lot worse. We had no inter inside damage at all. So, that was a plus
about it with the rain on I think Craig said it right Sunday night. I don't think I slept and I don't think he slept. And we uh I came in about 4:45 just to see if there was any inside rain cuz they they didn't think it would. But so we were quite I the big joke with with uh Craig on Tuesday morning called me for the fourth morning in a row and I said, "See, I don't need Tinder or anything because I can't because I got you call it all." So, so but anyway, so that's it's just been a busy well, so it's been a busy eight days. So, but we're hoping to get that project wrapped up through the next month and get that fixed. So, any other questions? >> Good job. >> Thank
you. >> Okay, brings us down to item 8.2. two donations. >> Yeah, I have four donations. Uh three of them from Ben Switch Church uh for FCA programs, which if you ever have the opportunity to come to one of the FCA programs, those are some of our mo most well attended um clubs that we have here. So, uh pretty neat to see those kids getting involved in those FCA. So, 8333 uh at the elementary, the same at the middle school, and then 8334 at the at the um high school for that. And then also our coral department core boosters $500 for sound equipment. Ask for your approval of donations. >> I'll entertain a motion to approve the donations as presented. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any questions, comments on the donations? Hearing none. All
those in favor signify by saying >> I oppose. Same sign. >> Motion carries. Uh, new courses item 8.3 for the middle school 26 and 27. >> Turn that over to Mr. Drawer. >> Yeah, I only have one course actually it would be earth and space science. Um, originally we had a few others but we didn't need them. Uh, this would be a seventh grade science course and it would only be one class and it would be the advanced kids from sixth grade. U based on I learn scores and their grades. So you have class probably about 25 to 30 um if we get that many that would uh be eligible to take this class for high school credit seventh grade. >> So originally you were given local courses. Uh the state on their final approval
of uh the accountability model >> kind of recamped some of what they said. Um and so now we're just going to add one one new. >> That's the only only change for the year. >> Okay. Thank you. Okay. Entertain a motion to approve the earth and science and earth and space science one class at the middle school for the 2627 school year. So second >> second. >> Any questions or comments? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I same sign. >> Motion carries. 8.4 athletic trainer contract. >> Yeah, I shared this with you I think uh last week. Uh we've had some talks about this. Um Park View um has stepped up and said, "Hey, we we do have not just one but possibly two people who'd want to come to me." Uh
so today um our athletic director was interviewing those folks with that Parkview team. Uh the contracts are in front of you. Pretty minimal cost uh for those services. Um our attorney has looked over that, giving us the the green light to go ahead. Uh we will prorrate. um there'll be two months prorated to end this year uh once that person is on boarded um to to get those services for the remainder of this year. So ask for the approval of that contract moving forward. >> Okay. Take a motion to approve item 8.4 the athletic trainer contract. So move >> second. Any questions or comments? >> Who did we have before? >> So we had community five years ago. they dropped us um and nobody could get an athletic trainer. I mean, we we look everywhere.
Um and so we're fortunate to be able to sign this three-year contract. >> Great. >> Any other questions or comments? >> Okay. Hearing none, all those in favor signify by saying I >> oppos. Same sign. Motion carries. All >> that's right. So item 8.5 asbestous removal. >> Yeah. So this is broken into two different um quotes that we we received. Um and just kind of a a short explanation of of what we're doing here. So you see one listed as bond project and then one is going to be a rainy day resolution. So this will actually be two votes uh tonight. So, one to accept the the bond project um bid at 186560 and then the other um to approve a resolution to transfer money in um actually appropriate money out of that rain day
fund for $152,640. Um for reason to break it up, uh we're running tight on bond money. So, by breaking those two up, two different scoops of work, uh we're able to get that project rolling. Without this, we're dead in the water for the project. So that's why this split up the way it is. >> Okay. >> You want to start with the bond project first? >> Yeah, we'll do the bond project first and then um Yeah, we do the bond project first. So I entertain a motion for the $186,560 come out of the bond proceeds for the current bond we are working under. So move >> a second and a second. >> Questions or comments? >> Know why these bids came in higher than what was originally anticipated? >> You know, it's hard to tell.
You're you're at the the mercy. These are the the two lowest of two were a couple hundred thousand above that. So we're fortunate to get something as low as it is. And I guess my question is why didn't Geralter put this part to pull that horse? So because we we bid to do the piping, but we didn't have a bid in to do the removal. So seemed like to me they didn't. >> So on asbesus is hands off. Um they don't they don't want to do the fitting on on asbesus. So actually we have to we had to go out and see is in viral error. >> Yes. um to to complete that process. So they had to bid that they had to do the scope of that work because they're involved with that. So
um on that asbesus removal, they were completely hands off. So we had to you'll see in the in the in the bid or not in the bid, in the in the project, there's about a $20,000 design for asbesus removal and that's what that is. But I I do agree that they should have waited to bid until we had >> Yeah, we should have had that before we did the other. Correct. >> So, we could have covered it all under the bond. I would have thought that that was my thoughts on it. And then also would have been nice to know up front that they they weren't going to seek the bids for the asbestous there. What's the $30,000 deal? I believe you said there was something in the paperwork for $30,000 that they charged for
asbestous for 20 whatever manager for the air quality testing and everything. So that was just for that that Okay. >> Is that common for architectural firms to not want to handle? >> I They did it the last time they were here. So that's why I find it hard this time, but they they because when we done the project when we had them and they did the middle school, they they took care of that. I find it why they changed their terms and conditions, I guess. But okay to sell, I guess. Awesome. All right. Any other questions, comments on that? Okay. We'll do a roll call because of bond money. So, to do the 186560 on the bond. So, >> ready. >> Dave Shlo. >> Yes. >> Greg Bington. >> Yes. >> Bedner. >> Yes. >>
Alan. absent. Tim White, >> yes. >> Andrew Adams, >> yes. >> Robert Dane, >> yes. >> Okay. >> And then the next thing is the we'll have to do a resolution to earbark funds out of the rainy day fund uh to pay the rest of that $150,640. So, I'll entertain a motion to approve that resolution. >> Some moved. Second. >> Second. >> Comments, questions on that. >> Okay. Hearing? Um, roll call, please. >> Dave Shlo, >> yes. >> Greg Beington, >> yes. >> Rex Bner, >> yes. >> Absent. Tim White, >> yes. >> Andrew Adams, >> yes. >> Robert D. >> Yes. Brings down item number nine, superintendent comments. Uh, a few things. Um, spring break is right around the corner. Uh, that means we're threequarters of the way through this school year. Um, and
looking at where we are, um, proud of the teachers. I mean, this is the roughest stretch for teacher students is from Christmas to spring break. It's the longest stretch. The weather's usually not great as we found out as we go away. Um so proud of our teachers, um proud of our administrators, proud of our support staff making it through those those times and those folks are going safe travel those folks that are going um elsewhere. Uh we mentioned the roof a little bit. Um something the board and I will have to decide is are we going to turn this in on an insurance claim or we're not. We'll have some more information for you that I'll send out um that will be bids to get it fixed. Uh we have some preliminary numbers that look
like they're going to be in that $250 to $350,000. Our deductible is $161,000. uh if we turn it in to insurance uh we risk probably a pretty good risk that our our premiums are going to go up which comes out of the um operations fund which is everything. So I've been in contact with um insurance company both our local insurance company and also um the claim rep from the larger company and they both have kind of hinted the same thing. Hey, we can turn it in um but probably we're going to see a premium increase uh at the end. So, it's a calculated risk we'll have to take um to figure out which way we want to go moving forward uh with that with that claim. So, I'll be in touch once we get some
bids in here in the next you think Katherine probably the next week or so we'll have some of those in. She has three companies she's going to try to get some quotes from to to figure out what that looks like. Uh looks like probably a total loss on that whole roof, meaning that membrane is compromised all the way back through the L. So, >> probably redoing the whole thing. Um, but there are some options out there that some are more expensive than others. Um, so we'll we'll probably try to get the most durable for the money type of thing. So, just want to give you a heads up on that. Um, also tunnel projects um that insulation removal will start on the 24th of April um by shutting off the boilers. So, they have to
have the boilers off by for two or three days because the piping's hot. uh those will be shut off uh the 24th of April and then we hope Monday the 26th uh we will start removing insulation in those in those areas. All that is controlled air. It's all in the tunnels. None of it is above above ground. So no risk there. Um so that's that's that. Uh Katherine mentioned that her and I have talked a lot lately in the mornings um with snow and whatnot. Um, you know, I appreciate the the the support of her. Uh, Heather McKinley, uh, getting up early, driving. Um, you have Catastaster's out here on Sunday, you're out here on Saturday. So, um, this place never sleeps. Uh, and and we have good people around to make sure that that
it's well taken care of. And the same thing is going to hold the true throughout the summer. Uh, we'll come up with a plan um hopefully by the 15th of next month on what it looks like on water shutdown at the high school. So, we know that at least part of high school is going to be not usable. We won't have domestic water in it. No, somebody going in and using a restroom that has water, obviously. Um, so we're trying to figure out a way to keep that back end open. Um, we know the cleat houses is going to have water, so that's that's a good. Uh, so we'll have a schedule hopefully put together here by the end of next month so coaches know, hey, we can use this facility or we can't use
this facility. So, uh, that's what we'll do moving forward. As a reminder, uh tomorrow night, um I'm going to be heading out on vacation for a week. Uh you can get a hold of me on my cell phone if you need to do so. Um but I cherish these moments because I have one kid really left now that that goes on vacation with us. So, um we'll we'll head south and try to get a little warmth here in the next week or so with our one that's left at home. So, appreciate everything you guys do. Uh, that's all I have for you. >> Okay. Thank you. The principal, >> Mr. Um, just to echo what uh Mr. Turnigan had shared that huge thank you to all of our teachers for working so hard um in
our schools getting ready coming up to this time for spring break. It's a time when kids really like to challenge everything and so it's really um an interesting time period but they have done a fantastic job. Um we have some exciting things happening and tomorrow is one of them that we have our STEM fair for our fourth graders. They've been working so hard in science and incorporating STEM um into their science program that they have a STEM fair tomorrow afternoon um from 2 to 3 in our gym. So if you get an opportunity to come and stop by and see their projects, they're pretty impressive to see what these kids have put together learning the scientific process as well as part of um the experience of STEM. Uh in addition to that, they actually had
the opportunity last week or the week before um when they've gone to the Indy500 for a field trip, but this year the Indy500 came to them and so they had it at here at our school. They had stations, they showed them everything that you needed to know. This is also tied into STEM. Um, and we actually had an indie car in parked on our sidewalk, as a matter of fact, between the middle school and the elementary school. So, it was really exciting for the kids to get that chance to see everything up close. And I actually feel like it was almost a better experience for them having them come to us because they really had a little more um onetoone information about that learning um having to do with STEM and the IND500, which also
ties into Indiana history as well. So, they kind of incorporated both of those in that. Uh, the other thing we have coming up is April 9th is our Meccanqua Roundup. And so that is if you know anybody who has um children who need child care uh preschool and or entering kindergarten, that's the night to come and uh go ahead and meet folks and see what's going on and get all the information that they would need to be prepared to enroll their kids uh next year for that. And so please spread the word on that. That is April 9th from 4:30 to 6:00 um at P Creek Elementary School. So, and with that, I hope you all also have some time if you have kids or whatnot, have a great spring break yourself, and we will
all be off and be fresh and ready to go when we get back. >> What time is this? >> Uh, 2 to 3. >> 23. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Next, Nigel. >> Evening. We uh middle school has finished up all of our sports. And it's interesting cuz they already started practice for soccer, track, and golf. >> Uh so hopefully when we get back, um some of you guys can bring some more weather with you so that they can have their meets and their matches and we can get everything rolling. Um as some of as as the elementary's been doing too, we've gotten most of our iLearn done, checkpoints done, all the fun testing stuff in anticipation for the summit of that's coming up later in April and May. Uh, one big one that
I want to talk about that was last weekend and Dave mentioned it last board meeting was the uh, ISSMA, the Indiana State School Music Association Middle School competition was at the high school last weekend, Friday and Saturday and and what was neat was and I even mentioned this to Mr. Burn because he really organized all of it uh, with a lot of help. There were 65 volunteers and twothirds of them were our students. Mr. Chevrolet spent a late Friday night there too, didn't he? And um and I talked to Mr. Vern. I was like it was just amazing the number of people that were there helping everybody get where they were supposed to be. Um and and I think it went flawless from what I saw. Um and the kids did great. All the kids
from the different schools were, you know, well behaved. We had uh about 780 different students there from at least nine different school corporations um Friday night till pretty late and then all morning Saturday. So, it was a great time and and we appreciate the high school hosting us and letting them do that and and giving our kids that experience of not having to travel somewhere too to have that competition. Um, I will tell you our our choir combined and they got a gold rating and our band our sixth grade band got gold and then seventh and eighth grade both got silver. So, it was a great experience for all of them. Um, and I think everything went well. >> That's all I got. Have a great spring break. >> You too. >> High school, Mr.
Ward. Sure. >> Nigel already stole my thunderbolt for competition, so I'll let him keep that one. Um, but this evening we are having our winter sports awards banquet actually right now. And they are honoring over 130 athletes and managers, which is really awesome. Um, and I just want to highlight that our girls swim team won the TRC, which is awesome. And our girls basketball team winning sectionals. the girls were in it to win it this year. Sorry boys. Um and then uh Evan Olsby and Ari Shrock representing Mac at the state wrestling tournament because my heart is definitely in for wrestling. Uh we have I learn biology testing coming up in a couple weeks at a reality store trip coming. And then we are gearing up for prom April 11th. So say prayers because that's
always very exciting in our realm of things. So >> you need chaprons. It's a good cheap date for you boys. >> Just saying it's real easy. Be like, "Honey, dress up. We'll take you out. We love it. It's fun." >> Thank you. >> Okay. Board member comments. Correct. >> I have no further comments tonight. >> Well, thank you for the fund report breakout like this. It was very very good to have it compiled and and printed this time too. >> David, enjoy the spring break. And other than that, I don't >> Thank you. Enjoy your break. >> Yeah. Start off by saying thank you to everybody for getting us here, right? It is a long stretch between Christmas and spring break. Um, Miss Ward mentioned the reality store. I know they are still looking for
a ton of volunteers. I got an email today. So, anybody that's in this room, if you have any extra time, get a hold of Miss Merrick at Pro High School and she'll give you some time slots to go in there and help with the reality store. Um, it's it's a great thing. All three schools participate, see all the kids come through there. So, see the shock in their eyes when they realize they have to pay rent. Kids do cost money. They don't think they do, but they do. So, it's always a good time to go there. So, um with that, just thanks everybody for doing what you do. It's a great time. So, appreciate it. So, with that, I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. >> So, move. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >>
I I want to journ. Thank you. And you got exact session
