001in memory of the following former MCS employees who have passed away. Brenda Spry, former MCS instructional assistant. Larry Graham, former MCS bus driver, and his wife Francis, she was also a former MCS bus driver. Please. Thank you. We'll start off with Pledge of Allegiance. Everyone, please stand. I pledge allegiance >> to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> So, as you can tell, we have a lot of people in here today. So, we have a lot of student recognitions. So, we're going to go ahead and start off with Deputy Elementary School State Science Bowl team members, and I'll ask Camille to come up. Hi, I'm Camille Crim and I got to coach Deputy Science

002Bowl this year. Um, we had seven students participate and when you have one class, that's a lot. So, they did great. They got fourth in the state. We have Jace Eden. Sorry, I'll go faster. Jaden King up here. Marcus Griffin. Kinley Owen. We had Lincoln Scott and I don't think he's here today. Bryley Craig. Congratulations. >> And Penelopey Smith get down. You can come down if you like. >> Stay there. >> Good job. Next will be the USA swimify >> Kirsten Johnson. >> It's okay. Thank you. In Indiana, swimming is very competitive. Athletes only advance to the state meet by winning their sectional or achieving a state qualifying time, making this an extremely tremendous accomplishment. This year we have five swimmers who competed at the state level. In our sectional, our swimmers won eight of

003the 11 events, which is absolutely outstanding. What makes this even more impressive is that these athletes committed to many 5 a.m. practices throughout the season. Their dedication and work ethic have been incredible, and I'm extremely proud of them. Um, I will start with our first time state qualifiers in alphabetical order. We have Ava Canada, who is not here tonight. She won the 200 medley relay, the 50 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay. I'll give it to her sister. Next, we have freshman Lily Datillo. Lily won the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay. >> Oh, she has three. Okay, awesome. >> All right. And they're not in order. Sorry. >> I'll just give them to you at the end, maybe. Is that fine? Okay, perfect. Okay, next we have sophomore Alejandra Shy.

004Alejandra won the 200 IM, the 100 breaststroke, and the 400 freestyle relay. Sorry, I'll give it to you. Hang on. You can stay. There was one of them. Uh, also qualifying for state were second time state qualifier sophomore Tayy Johnson. Taylor qualified in the 200 medley. Somebody should have prepared me for this. Sorry. There you go. And our final qualifier is four time state qualifier. Our senior Lily Canada. Lily qualified in the 200 medley relay, the 100 butterfly, the 100 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay. Congratulations. All right. down here. >> I'm incredibly proud of the dedication of these swimmers showed this season and the way they represented our school. Congratulations, ladies. Now that I'm embarrassed, >> there's girls. Next is girls wrestling academic team. >> Okay. See if it matches. That's first. Got him.

005>> Good evening. Tonight, we'd like to recognize several members of our girls wrestling program who have earned academic all-state honors. This season was an incredibly successful one for our girls wrestling team. And these recognitions highlight the commitment these student athletes have shown both on the mat and in the classroom. In our athletic department, we consistently emphasize that our athletes are students first and athletes second. Athletics are an extension of the classroom, and these young ladies have done an outstanding job representing the philosophy by excelling in both areas. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, discipline, and example they set for others in our school community. At this time, I would like to recognize the following student athletes for earning academic all-state honors. As your name is called, please come forward. Um, first, we'd like to

006start with Maya Bullock. She is not here. Next, we'd like to call up Hannah Ferguson. Next, we'd like to call up Kirsten Phillips. I get the sticker, too. >> You get the sticker. >> And finally, I would like to call up Isabella Zuckwart. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding student athletes on this tremendous accomplishment. I got it. You saw it. >> Next will be the Indiana Football Coaches Association region 10 academic state. >> I'd like to thank Dr. Brown and the school board for having us here tonight to recognize our one of our football players who has succeeded both on and off the field and especially in the classroom. The requirements for being named academic all state by the Indiana Football Coaches Association is they have to be a senior, played in 70% of

007the games and have a 3.5 GPA or higher. Corbin Fulenamp meets these requirements and exceeds the expectations with a GPA of 3.877 and a weighted GPA of 4.395. It was my privilege this year to coach him on the offensive line. Um, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Congrats Corbin Folenamp on this prestigious recognition. Corbyrat. Stay there for the middle. >> Next will be MCHS Indiana High School. Excuse me. Good evening. Um, tonight my husband Andy Woolridge is in the back. He's also a coach. Um, I'm an assistant coach and Michael Heights, the head coach, is in France. So, we will try to do him proud. All right. Tonight we are going to honor one of our senior male bowlers who has bowled for four years on the varsity level here

008at Madison Consolidated Schools. Um he has earned his academic honors demonstrating excellence both in the classroom and on the lanes. Throughout his high school career, he has balanced the the demands sorry he's balanced the demands of compet competitive bowling with a strong academic workload, maintaining an impressive GPA of 4.2 to while representing his team with dedication and discipline. His commitment to preparation, focus, and continuous improvement has made him a valuable leader and the role model for his teammates. Beyond his academic achievements, he's shown the success in sports and strength by his hard work in the classroom, earning academic all-state recognition reflects his determination to pursue excellence in all areas of school life. As he completes his senior se senior year, he leaves behind a legacy of p perseverance, sportsmanship, and academic achievement that will inspire

009future members of the bowling program. JADEN WALDRIDGE Next will be NCHS United State Championship team. Here we go. Hello, I'm Sarah Webster and I'm one of the unified coaches. Um, our cornhole team didn't start the season expecting a state title. Uh, but these guys through teamwork, persistence, and a lot of trust in each other, they found their group. We couldn't do this without Sierra Sha and the Jag program. She's an intricate part of this and always partners with us. Um, so I'm very grateful for you, Sierra. The Madison Cubs Unified team made history by winning the first state championship in Indiana and in the country. Um, and by the way, our unified bowling team has also qualified for the state championship which is this Saturday. So, we're very proud of what we have here at

010Madison. >> Yes. So, we would like to recognize our athletes tonight. We have Kennedy Rowlet. Congratulations. >> Kennedy Rowlet gets two. >> We have Rachel Couch. Kira Aaylor, Tara Charlow, Max Web, Max Sylvia Singleton, Jesse Rubble, Maddie McAllister, I don't think she was able to make it tonight. And we also have our awesome coaches, Amy Long, Megan Sprung, Sierra Sha, and myself. Stay there. Thanks, guys. Thank you so much for having us here to recognize the ISMA vocal solo and ensemble um competitors. Um all of these young ladies, we had four who went to the state competition. um they had to earn a gold rating at the district level in order to compete at state and I was very proud of all of them. They all did a great job. First we have uh Susanna

011Bailey. She could not be with us tonight. She earned a gold rating state. We have Chelsea Dillo. She is here. Earned a silver rating at state. She did very well. We have Claire Miller earned a gold with distinction rating. And we have Gabrielle Vest who is also not able to be here tonight. Gold with Good job. solo team member Scott. >> All right. Okay. First of all, I'd like to say thank you to the board and to Dr. around for inviting us out to recognize these students. Um, these students show exceptional skill inside the classroom and and outside of the classroom. They've spent countless hours preparing their solo. We had one Ian Thcker and then our ensemble, the Brown Quartet, who was our Sax Quartet ensemble. Um, both played in group one, which is the

012highest difficulty that you can uh play in to advance to state ensemble, and they both received gold at the district level. Uh we would like to recognize first uh Aaron Brown with the Sax Quartet, Silver Raiding. Uh also in the Sax Quartet, Isaiah Boyce, silver rating Sax Quartet. Silus Woodruff, silver rating. >> And lastly in the Sachs Quartet, Lillian Jung, Silver Rating. And then I had one soloist make it to the state level this year. I'm hoping to have more children involved next year. Um Ian had a clarinet solo, got a gold at the district level, went on to the state level and received a gold rating. Stay there. She was great. Next is Junior High School forestry team members. Um, good evening. Thank you for honoring our kiddos this evening. Um, we have several

013FFA U members here that have advanced to state um, this year and we'll have even more um, to bring on later on. Um but our junior high um forestry team placed first at state. And the only reason Oh yeah, there we go. The only reason they are not going to nationals is because they don't do nationals for the juniors. It's only for the seniors. So um hopefully you guys stick with it and we are headed to nationals. Um but on the first place team at state is Ally Briggs. Um, Annie Harson, she wasn't able to be here this evening. Dylan Smith and Ryland Smith. And then our team that got sixth place at state was Ellie Shipman. and I think she's at a swim meet tonight. >> Practice. Um, Josie Scutter. Joel Bllelock and Tinsley

014Chambers and then our senior high um team. So, in the 23 years that I've been at Madison, for 22 years, we've got a team qualified for state. Um, and for two years now in a row, we've gotten fourth place. So, we are like we are inching up ever so closely. So, uh, Michael Briggs, Abby Ferguson, Emma Shakle, and Eli Copeland. And then our other senior team that got seventh in the state is Olivia Miller, Ben Copelan, Maddie Palmer, and Berlin Conover, who wasn't able to be here. And then we also had three others who qualified for state. Um Britain Wright could not be here. Jeffrey Spicer and Aiden Scott picture and then >> Okay. Oh my god. One more. right there. >> Okay, next is our livestock skilathon team. Um, these kiddos started in August.

015Um, and this is only our third year ever doing the contest. Um, and we've qualified for state for two years. Um, and our team was first place in the area that then qualified for state. So, our participants are Alli Briggs, Ryland Smith, Dylan Smith, and Joel Bllelock. And then our senior team that was 12th high in state was Michael Briggs, Ashlin Dryden, who I don't think's here, Abby Ferguson, and Laney Alexander. Our other state team is Ben Copelan. Kaylee Scott and Aiden Scott. Do you want to get welding up there next dom? Okay. Um and then we are able to take um a team of juniors and seniors are our senior team they call it and then freshman sophomores are junior teams for welding. Um and our coach was Ryan Lamb this year and he

016did a phenomenal job and Abby Ferguson um who whipped them into shape. Our uh senior participants are Abby Ferguson and Carson Brainstutter. We also had Will Ule on that team who's not here. He's still recovering. And then our um freshman sophomore team is Ben Copelan, Bo Fizzy, Jeffrey Spicer. and Vincent Fagan. >> That's it. Pictures. Exactly. Stay It's done. >> Really well. She's always prepared. Yeah, >> let's do it. >> So, next we'll go on with the Riker's Ridge Elementary School presentation. Ask Jackie Thirstston to come up. >> Kind of Good evening. I have Nicole Laurig, our counselor with me that's going to help me present. I am Jackie Thirstston and I am the proud proud uh principal of Riker's Ridge Elementary. I can get my slide. Oops. Hold on. Here we go. So, now

017we're going to talk about some celebrations that we have. Um, I'm not going to go through all of these, but um, we participated in the Junior Gardener Club with the Purdue Extension and the Madison Community Garden Project. Um, we won first in the Christmas parade. We were really very excited about that. Um, we do a lot with fire prevention, field trips, spell bowl. This was our first year for our robotics club, so we're really excited about that. Also, um our archery team, uh got to go to Worlds last year and they have state next weekend, so hopefully they'll do nationals and and um make it up to um Worlds again. Um we were for the second year in a row the state of Indiana familyfriendly school. So, we are excited about that also. >> Okay.

018So, hold this. >> Yes. Thank you. Um so I'll talk a little bit about um a couple things that are near and dear to my heart. Um one of them is our student leadership team. Um feel very um passionately about student leadership um and having the opportunity for our students to have that accountability and student voice and ownership within their school. Um we have a student council um that that is sponsored by me but is supported by all the Riker staff um in our building. Every classroom has a student representative that um we meet weekly and we um come together with different student projects that are um led by their student voice, things that they want to see happen in their school. Um this year what we have done is well we've continued our school

019store. Um everything's a dollar or less so that way it can be affordable for all students to purchase and everything is studentled. um purchasing, inventory, cash bundle, um handling um really helps with more opportun entrepreneurship, sorry. Um and just giving their involvement in that. Um we also take all the profits from that to reinvest into more student led projects that they've identified they want to do. Um some other projects that we've done um are we've gotten to the community done some projects with um the Salvation Army bell ringing and we were able to um incorporate all of our school and do a food drive and from that be able to support 20 families um in need from our own school during Thanksgiving. So we were really um thankful that we were able to collaborate for

020that and support our own um students for that too. And also talking more about attendance. Um this is something um that we're working really hard with um at our school. Um we have um a focus on our chronic absenteeism reduction. Um I'm currently in an internship program through the masters of um school counseling through IUS and that's what I identified as my close the gap project. Um so we're working really hard on identifying those students that are chronic absenteeism or at risk. Um we meet weekly. We have an internal attendance team that we meet weekly um comprised of our principal, our SRO, myself, the nurse, our clerical um so that way we can have a deep dive to be able to look at that whole child, some different barriers that might be impacting their attendance.

021So that way we can um identify some underlying barriers that might be um preventing them from attending more. And that way we can match that with more um appropriate interventions to be able to support um improved attendance um because that helps um the whole child, their academics and everything. Um we also do a lot of celebrations for attendants that are going well or improved or um perfect attendance. Um so we have monthly celebrations to um celebrate those students that um have been attending well that have good behavior. We've done a lot of fun things like popsicles or extra recess and just different fun things that make them want to have to come to school. Um, and make it enjoyable and celebrate their accomplishments as well. Um, and then we also do a public recognition. They

022get a perfect attendance certificate and in the morning ceremonies that we have every morning. Um, once a month we'll present that morning certifi or the perfect attendance certificate. We'll take their picture. We get to post it online so the families can see it too. um just to be able to get that sense of pride and um that they are you know having that um positive um attendance too. Um so we also are looking for more future things that we want to be able to do to improve um our our support for our um um students in their engagement and their um school attendance um and how that will impact um their whole um self at school. um shifting our language from a truency to more of that supportive um system as well and looking at

023different other system things that we can do to support them. >> One thing that Nicole left off that I'm that I'm very proud of is um Ruckers Ridge is piloting um the parent square attendance plus that that we have available to us and we're going to find more effective ways to track attendance. It helps us with communication with parents and the importance of attendance. We're able to send messages back and forth, um, conducting interventions, recording notes all through this app. And it's been really nice. I've had a lot of parents um, comment on being able to they get a parent square message when their student is absent and they can reply right back to us and say that they were sick. So they don't have to worry about calling in or making that call or

024ensuring that there is a note sent the next day because sometimes with elementary students the notes kind of get lost in the backpack a little bit. So so it's been it's been great for us. Okay, fundraisers. I know all schools do fundraisers, but man are we small but mighty. We've just had two really large fundraisers this year and for alone with just these two we have raised over $5,000 for us to put back in for our students. So we are very very excited about that. Okay, just some just some academic things. Now we've been with all the fun stuffs now some academic things. our 2025 results was we had 50% of our second graders uh pass the I read and we had a 97% third grade pass rate last year. So, we're very very excited

025about that. Um this year our staff alongside with our literacy coaches are showing strong early literacy growth. We are seeing the impact of our focused explicit instruction and all of our intervention efforts. Um we are currently taking the I read um this week. So hopefully we'll have some some good results to for this year. Our predictions for this year in second grade um we there will be two rounds in March and in May. So they get more than one chance. Um our predictions are 83% for um our second graders. And for third grade, our predictions right now are 93, but I'm going to shoot for the 100% or at least the 97 again. So on our literacy um our literacy go literacy goals um center on developing confident readers and writers through a comprehensive researchbased

026approach. We strengthen foundational skills through UFly and Hagerty to ensure that students build strong phonics and phenemic awareness. And at the same time, we are deepening comprehension with rich knowledg. We are prioritizing intentional fluency practice with consistent progress monitoring while also elevating writing through clear structure, sentence expansion, um, attention to point of view. Together, these focused efforts create a cohesive system that supports our literacy growth at every level. I love it. Each one of our classes have a hedgehog. We call it the um, Hagerty Hedgehog. And each a student a different student gets to earn that as how they participate with with Hagerty which is a lot of fun for them. Um we do have literacy coaching cycles with Miss Amanda Lawer. Um she is um she designs cycles to provide intentional job embedded support

027for every K3 classroom. Uh, Miss Laugher partners with each teacher to plan high quality standards um or highquality standard align instruction that analyzes student data, identify targeted next steps and growth. But the nice thing about this is through co-eing and micro ma micro modeling, she demonstrates the instructional strategies in real time for our teachers, allowing them to see to see practices in action and they can immediately apply them. Um, coaching conversations also include support with classroom management structures that maximize instructional minutes and student engagement. These collaborative strike cycles ensure continuous reflection, strengthen instructional practices, and improve literacy outcome for all of our students. And you can see these are just two of the cycles she has done. At one point we had I think it was like um 72% that were u mastering and when

028she was done with the cycle and they were progress monitored again we had 100% with the post test. So we're very very excited what she's doing with our classes. Um with math we use uh we have reveal math which is being used with fidelity. We also have um which offers individualized remediation of the standards, but it also has a diagnostic arena and if we just use it for 10 minutes per week, which every every one of our teachers has that built into their classroom time, um they it continually updates the individual student learning where there's still missing gaps, where they need to look at. The teachers could actually go in and look at these standards and create small math groups to help with those. So we are also using reflex and fracks which is gamebased

029on fact fluency. And then we have our STEM coaching um with uh help me out >> Jennifer. Yes, sorry Jennifer Colon. Yeah. Um and she also gives hands-on real world problem solving. And we have had a 100% of our teachers through >> have participated in one of these cycles with with one of our coaches. Okay. Um, so on staff recruitment and retention because we know right now in education there seems to be a lot of of staff turnover. Um, we have started a program that has staff member of the week where all the staff is um allowed to to nominate staff members. Um, the administrative team is not involved at all. It's all from the staff. And so we every Monday we I read about what the great things their co-workers are saying about them

030and they get a clipboard and so we have a staff member of the week. Um we have many TBRI lessons um because staff regulation and staff mental health is just as important as the students. Um we have afterchool PDs on writing to help our staff with explicit instruction, oral language, UFly PDS. Um, I've sent out anonymous surveys on felt appreciation, not just as the district, but for me as a principal. Um, so they can just tell me, you know, do they feel appreciated by me? And and if not, why? And it's all anonymous, so I can continue to improve my leadership. Um, and then every Friday, um, we have a staff circle where everyone circles up and we go through and tell say something positive about our week. So that's that's been really a big

031hit with the with the staff because we always have something positive. Too many times people focus on the negative. So we're trying to keep that out of our building right now. So supporting and growing our students. Um we spoke a a little bit about all of these literacy, STEM, PLC's. Well, I haven't really said much about PLC's, but we do PLC's. They're data driven. and they're I mean the whole corporation is we get so much um good learning and information from our PLC's. It's it's just been amazing for us. Um we also have MTSS which are tiered interventions with progress monitoring. Um we have supports for academics and behavior. Um responsive instruction based on data. So um but things that we would like to continue um oh I do want to mention our preschool. Our

032preschool has had amazing amazing growth on the BGance testing this year. So, we're really excited about that. Also, um with our TBRRI, we want to continue to enhance TBRRI. We have nurture groups in the classroom. Um there are lessons each morning that the teachers give. So, they either have a nurture group or they have a TBRI lesson that they go through through the building. We are using um consistent language, TBRRI language. seem to really help with we're all on the same page using the same wording. Um Michelle and Katie Brennan have just been awesome to to help us with all of this. And of course the most important part is we're building relationships with our students. So um with PBIS we are bringing our teams back. We have weekly behavior meetings with the teachers um

033and we have leadership groups that we are starting with the students also. But the main thing that I want to point out is our community involvement. At Riker's Ridge, we are a family and I tell the students and the teachers that all the time. We are the fam. We are a family and we need and want our community involvement. I was really impressed with um with some of the people that I reached out to and said, "Hey, this is ReadAcross America week. We'd love to have you in our schools. Would you like to come to our schools and read?" And it was just I'm not everyone is on here, but I mean it was just amazing the number of people that said I would love to come read to your school. Thank you, Mr. Ben.

034They really enjoyed that, by the way. Okay. And we will continue to invite um community stakeholders into our school whenever possible. So, we have a lot of a lot of people that had a lot of good time reading. Awesome. >> So, I just want you to know we are so proud to be Riker's Ridge. We are we are so proud of our school and our students. they are just thriving. Um, and we just we are just proud. We're just proud and we're going to continue to grow. So, thank you so much for your time and I appreciate you allowing Miss Lori and I time to be here this evening. >> Thank you guys. >> Good job. >> Am I supposed to leave John up there? I hope. >> Okay. So, we'll go ahead and continue

So, a little bit different today because we do have John. Um, he's online, so we will be doing things a little bit different up here. So, uh, just wanted to point that out. So, can I'm going to ask for a motion. >> I'll make a motion to pass consent agenda 26-101 through 26-108 as presented. >> Can I get a second? >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> Okay, we'll vote now. John >> I >> Jody >> I >> Dustin >> I >> and myself I'm an I. >> Any public comments? >> So we'll move on

039to action items 26-109 approval to advertise for cafeteria bids. Dr. Brown. >> Yeah. I'm recommending the board give approval to advertise for the cafeteria bids for the period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Group three food and other products. We anticipate that we will procure the bread and the dairy bids from the Wilson Center. So asking for approval. >> Can I get a motion? >> I'll make a motion to approve 26109. >> Can I get a second? >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? John >> I >> Jody >> I >> Dustin >> I >> myself I'm an I. >> 26-110 approval of school student transfer requests deadline date. Dr. Brown. >> Yeah. I'm recommending the board approve May 21, 2027 as the last day to accept out of district students for the 2627

I'm an I. 26-11. Approval of Camp Invention summer program. Dr. Brown. >> Yes. I'm recommending the board approve the camp invention summer program. Camp Invention is a nationally acclaimed STEM summer camp providing in-person and atome learning opportunities that turn curious students into innovative thinkers by providing open-ended experiences that help them build the confidence, persistence, and problem solving skills to make their own creative mark on the world. We're looking at June 15th through the 19th, 2026 from 8:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Anderson Elementary. For the staffing, we're recommending we hire one director for a total of

04192.5 hours for pre-amp hours. Um, and then including the camp week as well. Assistant director uh would be for up to 56 hours. And again, that would be some pre-amp and then during the camp week hours. We're also recommending that we hire six teachers, five for camp invention and one for invention project. and also again including some hours pre-amp and then the hours during the camp and it totals 40 hours total. One assistant for the intervention the invention camp and that would be for 37.5 hours also including 10 to 12 high school student volunteers 120 students for camp invention and 15 students for the invention project. Um, everyone did good, but of course, I was keeping my eye on you. You did really, really good during it. So, we'll start with you. >> All right. Um to start off, congratulations to all the teams and students that we have honored tonight for um academ academic all state honors. Um and also all of the other teams that have made it to state. Um congratulations to the boys basketball team for finishing off the season this past weekend with hosting sectionals. And thank you to everyone who helped Madison host sectionals. I know that's a big um big deal and there were a lot of people here. So thank thank

047you to all the staff that helped with that. Um, congratulations to all the Isma um, compet competitors um, including the band and choir students. Um, some shout outs just overall across the board. Congratulations to both the cast of Finding Nemo Jr. and Frozen for putting on two amazing shows this past month. Um, thank you to all the staff who helped um, having an amazing job for crossing the ditch in Cubfest on March 4th. That was also a big event for Madison. Um, congratulations to Jacob Slade for being named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Shout out to all of those who participated in the Polar Plunge and raised money for Special Olympics. Um, shout out to everyone who participated in the Penny Awards raising money for one of our own students medical bills.

And finally, congratulations to Farmtop to the Farmtop team for being named innovative program of the year by the Indiana Chamber Chamber Institute. Thank you. That's all. >> Good job. No comment. No. >> Okay. So, we'll start off uh with John. John, do you have anything? >> Yeah. I'd just like to echo the sentiment of our student rep. uh and congratulate all those folks as well. Uh especially our students are here who were there tonight. Just amazing how many programs that we have that we can include so many of our kids and so many various programs, but that wouldn't be possible if we didn't have our our faculty in all of our volunteers. So, um I know we thank them on occasion, but

049I don't think we could ever thank them all enough. It just makes such a huge positive impact on these kids and uh and I think sets them for a brighter future. So again, thank them very much. Uh to Mrs. Thirsten and Mrs. Luric, thank you for being there tonight and congratulations on the outstanding job you're doing out on the ridge. Much appreciated. And uh last but not least, I would like to thank Pam. Pam, you there? Can you hear me? Pam, >> I can. >> Yes. >> Love you. Anyway, I would like to thank Pam. She works as we all know how tirelessly she works, but uh she's working seemed like almost around the clock to promote our school corporation and all of our students on on social media especially. She I don't think ever

050miss recognizing and thanking any of our kids and our faculty and staff for the for all the positive things you're doing. So So Pam, we know you work so hard at school, but uh you're working hard around the clock and it's it's much appreciated. Thank you. >> She said thank you, John. Jody. >> Well, um, big shout out, congratulations to all the students that were here tonight and also to all the people that volunteer or our teachers or parents or whatever that help with those teams um, and help make them successful. Um, second, thanks to Savannah because man, does she keep us in the loop. >> I mean, there's some of those things that, you know, I had the penny wars and stuff like that. That's great. Um, and and great for our students that

051are stepping up and and doing things like that. So, just big thanks to everybody. Um, we will have spring break before we come to back to our next board meeting. So, everybody have a great spring break and come back and finish up the year strong. >> Good. Thank you, Jody. Dustin, >> um, Miss Thirstston, Miss Lur, thank you both. Uh, it was an honor to read at Read Across America. I got to hear about Theo's half Nelson and double leg he's been working on. So, that was great. and then to share, oh, the places you'll go. Like, that was just so fun. So, thank you very much. The student leadership team, I wrote that down. Like, that's awesome to get your students invested in the school and make them feel like they have ownership. I

052always think that's cool when we hear about things like that. So, thank you guys. That was a good presentation. I thought also neat tonight was a wide range of students we honored, FFA, music, sports, academics. It just shows like how well-rounded of a school corporation we truly are. So, I thought that was neat tonight. Um, kind of slid on the radar, but officially Muny's coming down. So that was voted tonight. So El Muny's coming down. That's going to be a heart puller for a lot of people that went to Muny, but we're certainly excited about the early learning center and it coming up and and the future for Madison and our and our little ones. So it's going to be an exciting couple years for sure. And also I think the last thing I have

053to say is you notice Mike Scott's absent tonight. Uh thoughts and prayers. The Mike Scott, he's been deal dealing with some health stuff. So everybody, please just keep them uh in your prayers and thoughts. Thank you. >> Thank you, Dustin. So want to thank Rogers Ridge. Great presentation. and nice hearing all the great stuff that's going on up there. Of course, I love the country schools, a little bit smaller area and stuff. Um, and then all the students that showed up today, just like Dustin said, a wider range and, you know, being on the board for, I guess, going on my fifth year, I'm seeing these kids grow up, you know, when they're coming in here getting the awards and everything else. So, it's sort of cool to see that. And then Cubfest, um, I

054did not know there were that many people in Jefferson County and stuff. So, it was great. Uh, the school really, the junior high did a fantastic job. Everyone that pulled together uh to put that activity on, it was huge. So, if you missed it, not very many people missed it. You'll have to hit it next year because it's a really good event. It really will open your eyes to everything that's available, you know, even out in the community through the school and everything. So, just everyone that was involved with that, thank you very much because you guys did a really good job with that. Uh before I turn it over to Dr. Brown, I just want to remind everyone that the board will conduct a work session on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026 at 4 PM.

055The next scheduled regular meeting of the board of school trustees will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Turn over Dr. Brandt. >> All right. First of all, as the others have said, congratulations to the 83 students who were recognized tonight um at the board meeting. It was an incredible night to celebrate for 30 minutes, one name after another, of students that have just stepped up to do things outside of the classroom um and just achieving great success. And to their sponsors and those adults who have mentored and worked with them, we greatly appreciate all that you're pouring into our students. Cubfest was truly spectacular. Um I'd like to give a big shout out to Sean Pennington. um he was the um person that did the vast majority of all the planning

056and organizing. So greatly appreciate Sean. No small feat. Um on top of that, the junior high hosted for the first time this year. They were extraordinary hosts and had everything well organized. Um and just easy to walk in and and volunteer because it was all set up. So great job to our staff. uh they had a very long day. So they worked all day, taught all day, um and then came in and worked until 7:30 in many cases or later, shuttling people back, cleaning up from the event. Um just a long day for them. And I greatly appreciate again just pouring into our kids and showing all of the things that we're offering in our school district. Quite frankly, I can't imagine why anybody would not be a Madison Cub. It's just a special place

057to be. So, thank you for that. Uh, we fed over 400 in the cafeteria. So, appreciate Judy and all that her team did um in the cafeteria and the many volunteers who made that happen. Frozen, as you know, was this past weekend, just outstanding reviews. Appreciate um all the work that went into that, all the kids, the adults again um that just worked so hard on that play. Um, as you know, the high school hosted the boys sectionals um this past weekend, and I wanted to read a comment um that we don't often get um aloud. This came in to our athletic director, Devon Brierley, and this was from someone who has worked as an official for over 30 years. And this was the comment they made. Dear Devon, thank you for the outstanding job

058you did hosting the sectional tournament last week. The event was a huge success and it was clear that a great deal of planning and preparation went into making everything run so smoothly. From start to finish, the tournament was extremely well organized and managed with high level of professionalism. Your attention to detail, coordination of logistics and supervision throughout the event truly stood out. coaches, players, officials, and spectators. I won't read what was in parenthesis were all able to enjoy a positive experience because of the structure and organization you put in place. It was evident that you took great pride in ensuring that everything was handled the right way. One of the bestrun sectionals I've been a part of. Thank you again for your hard work, leadership, and commitment to making the event such a positive experience

059for everyone involved. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. So, just a huge congratulations to Devon and her team um that made all of that happen and certainly showcased again Madison and how well we do things here. So, greatly appreciate that. She's doing a super job. On top of that, um again, a big thank you to Jackie Thirsten, the principal at Rikers, and Nicole Lurig who came today to share their story about what's happening this year. Jackie's had a very successful first year there. Um we greatly appreciate all she's doing. On March 31st, we're having our teacher of the year, support person of the year, and operational person of the year banquet. Um, so looking forward to celebrating that on March 31st at 6 p.m. Reminder, spring break's coming up the week of March 23rd. So have

060fun, be safe, and we'll see you back after that for the end of the school year. As you know, that's approaching, and we have many opportunities to again recognize and celebrate our students and staff. want to thank our principles and our staff for all they're doing right now. This is a tough time of the year. The last the last couple of weeks before spring break, it's a tough time. So, we recognize that. We appreciate you hanging in there and taking care of each other. I've seen many examples and emails of coffee trucks and all kinds of things that you're bringing in just to kind of keep each other um elevated and supported. So, thank you for that. Um and I want to thank the board for all you do um showing up and giving extra

061effort. And then last but not least, happy birthday to my dear Pamela whose birthday is tomorrow. So >> thank you. >> No, she says >> a >> you get my age. It's just >> it's just another year, right? According to Pam, it's just another year.
