and that was because the front end loader or something yeah good evening I'd like to call to order the board of Finance meeting at this time uh could I have a motion for the board of Finance meeting to be called to order I'll make a motion and second second any discussion all right we are ready for a vote then all those in favor I I I anybody opposed okay Board of finan is now called to order I'd like to recommend the board approve the agenda for the board of Finance meeting 25-12 do we have a motion for that I'll make a motion to approve the um agenda please do we have a second I'll make a second any discussion all right signify approving with i i anyone opposed all right motion passes it's now time

to elect the officers for the board of Finance 25-13 the first order of business is the election of our officers the officers are the president and the secretary in the past the current board president and secretary are elected as president and Secretary of the board of Finance but of course it's the board's uh desire to see how they want to have those filled so at this time I'd like to ask for nominations for the president of the board of Finance I make a motion that John Wallace be the president of the board of Finance okay do we have a second for that I'll second any other nominations for the president of the board of Finance okay then we will take a vote all those in favor for Mr Wallace signify with an i i anybody

opposed all right congratulations to Mr Wallace who's not here that's what happens okay that's what you get that's what you get uh we now are seeking a secretary for the board of Finance do we have nominations I'd like to make a nomination of Dustin bence as secretary for the board of Finance okay do we have a second I'll second uh any other nominations okay those in favor of electing Dustin b the secretary for the board of Finance signify with an i i anybody opposed all right motion carries congratulations Mr B okay we are now ready for the report to the Madison Consolidated School boards 25-14 we're going to ask Danica house our Chief Financial Officer to do that it's our annual update Danica would you please update the board yes um so now that you've

elected the officers for the board of Finance um we're going to review a few items so the first item that we have to review is the investment policy so we've included that that policy in your board packet for you same policy that we had last year um and then the second item is to report and review on our investments for the year so we have interest bearing checking accounts money markets CDs and US treasuries currently so um I am happy to report that in 2024 we earned $864,900 and great all of our checking accounts our money market and our CDs so all that's due to when we started doing investments in May of 2023 so that was about $182,000 more than the interest um since we had a whole year of Investments versus last year

was May to December so that's great um so we know interest rates could drop but we're taking advantage of it while we can um so the third item we have to report on is the annual report assessing the financial condition and this report ised Ed by the distressed unit appeal board or we call it doab um and again just a reminder um this information is still because it's just through 2023 um so also we attach that in your packet for you to review and I just wanted to remind you to the on all the charts that you see it includes all of our fund so if you visit the website you can um view you know just the Ed and Ops phone if you wanted to so the chart wouldn't be as um overwhelming as

it looks now it's kind of harder to look at with everything um so I'll briefly go over each indicator with you so the first thing is our ADM so our um student count our daily average membership um so we did experience a decline in 2023 um now the chart doesn't show this yet but in 2425 we did increase um so we increased around like 42 kids I believe from October 23 to October 24 like that's the difference in the fall counts and we had hoped for a slight uptick starting in 2024 because that's what our Trends in the past showed and so we were correct with that um and then the next item we have is the fund balances and again um the chart shows all of our funds um to recap a little bit

so the Ed fund cash balance increase from 2020 2 to 2023 but the operations fund did experience a spend down and we have maintained the rainy day fund cash balance um the next item is the annual deficit or Surplus um so we did um have a slight deficit in 2023 which means that our expenses were more than our Revenue but this is due to spending down our high cash balance that we had and we expected this with a continued support that Dr Brown and the board shows to our employees through wages and um new programming that's been implemented in the district um and then the next item we have is fund balances as a percentage so the Ed and operations fund balances individually and collectively remain above the advised range of 15% so we're doing

good there and then Revenue by type um so we had a slight increase in state tuition from 22 to 23 um there was a slight a decrease in the federal stimulus Revenue um and that's due to Esser funds just starting to end um in 2023 and then now as of December 2024 all of the Sesser funds the federal stimulus Revenue has ended um all other Revenue remain constant uh or consistent with previous years all in all are operational funds experienced Revenue growth though and then the last one is the operating ref referendum fund which we do not have so that one is blank um so that is all the three items we need to review on so that's all I have for you this evening do you have any questions for me good job thank

you very much thank you thank you for such a great job investing our money yes absolutely love it so we're ready to adjourn the board of Finance meeting I'd like to ask for a motion to adjourn the meeting I'll make a motion to adjourn the board of Finance meeting do we have a second I have a second all those in favor signify with an i i anybody oppose motion carries Finance meeting has been adjourned and in three minutes we'll call to order our next meeting an p calling to order our regular meeting thank you those of you wondering why we had that brief time it's because this meeting is scheduled for 6:10 so we could not start it until that time so now we're starting it we'd like to begin our meeting by asking for

only on the court but in the classroom first off we have Destiny Nicholson who played four years and received academic allate [Applause] honors next we have Maya Gordon who is also a part of the program for four years and decided to manage and keep stats this year so she received support staff academic All State [Applause] and our last sport this evening um is boys cross country of Coach sing could please come up and we'll recognize our cross cross country member all right put this down a little bit I'm a little shorter than most um thank you uh for having having all the athletes out and recognizing them for their hard work we appreciate that thank you Mr Morrison for all the work that you do with the coaches and with the student athletes as well

you're you're a big support for for all of us um our loan member of the first team academic all state is uh Mr Ben Crouch he was um in the top 5% of the boys cross country in the entire state that was selected for first team academic all state so big um big accomplishment there it's usually the the GPA is um the the easier part and then once you get to the SAT and the ACT score that that eliminates a lot of people um so he's uh he's in a late level um within a late group so we appreciate all his hard work [Applause] all right if we could have all of our student athletes please come back up and we'll take one big group picture f between good [Applause] and there they all go

they they have to study okay as our students um are leaving because they have to go study exactly I would like to welcome to the podum Mr Trent Wy our principal of Lydia Middleton Elementary School he's here for his presentation to share uh updates on Lydia so welcome Trent let's let them get settled okay Take It Outside okay Mr wayy I think we're about ready for you to begin okay Al righty well I want to thank the board and administration for having us here tonight um anytime we get to talk about our schools uh we want to take that opportunity so I am proud to um share Lydia Middleton with you tonight and highlight some of the um great things we have going on down at Lydia um one of the things I wanted to

bring to our attention is um the vision of the school district and what we did as we approached this school year and planned our goals and and how we wanted to um reach our full potential um we we looked at that vision and we plugged in with all of our goals goals how they align to to the um vision and mission of the district so um our goals are very um focused on being student centered achievement focused and valuing our students and staff so I want to share a little bit about our story and um the highlights of our school um we could be here for three hours if I really wanted to share with you everything that we're so proud of at Lydia Middleton um but I wanted to share the highlights and how

that um ties into what we're trying to accomplish U as a school system so um being focused on our students and being student centered one of the things we're very proud about is our core value program where we um focus on a life skill each month and then we do um lessons with our counseling team with our students and every day we have announcements that highlight those core values and we're one wanting to instill those within our students and so each month we pick um our staff picks students that really um epitomize that core value for the month and we celebrate those monthly we also do the same with star students weekly we want to celebrate our students that are being safe responsible and respectful and uh we highlight those students every week and our

staff helps select those students um as you are aware all of our elementaries have a house program program and we're no different so we have house celebrations every quarter where we uh recognize uh the students the the houses that have um the best behavior for that that term um in December we had silly safaris in our yellow house pixus um and if you know Lydia Middleton were're star themed so all of our houses have um a constellation theme and so they were able to participate in that program and really uh come together and celebrate our uh positive behavior that we have going on um I also wanted to say one of the things that we have focused on this year with TBR um is our nurture groups and within our house we've formed smaller families

to make um you know that house of 80 students smaller and more intimate for um that group um and we're we're going to see great things with uh how we can Implement nurture groups within our house systems and build that Community within the house system um we're also proud of our robotics team uh they have in a few weeks actually next week I think um they're teaming up with the junior high to do a u kind of mock competition down at our school and uh it's really neat to see these fourth graders really in action and uh put together some of those uh stem skills that uh that they're learning in the classroom one of the things I wanted to highlight um in every um Elementary can say the same we have a fantastic preschool

program at Madison Consolidated Schools and uh I wanted to highlight our preschool program because we are starting to see wonderful things uh we have seen great things but um we're really starting to track that data and um starting with our three-year-olds and one of the things that I have found interesting this year as we're looking at that data closely um we have 49 pres uh kindergarten students and of those 49 kindergarten students 25 went to our Lydia Middleton preschool and so when we look closer at that data we can see um that of those 25 kindergarten students that went to our preschool 20 of them at middle of the year are showing that they're in the 601st to 100th percentile in our NWA testing that we do at our school so we are really proud

of our preschool program um at Lydia Middleton and across the district and we're only going to see more positive things with our Early Childhood Center and being intentional with our preschool program um you know it's the foundation and if we can have more of our preschool students um coming into our school with that safe Foundation aligned across the district we're going to see great things and we already are um and it's just exciting to continue that within math and Consolidated Schools and if you haven't followed our preschool Facebook page you need to do that because uh there are so many heartwarming pictures on that page posted um daily so um check that out another celebration um and we continue to be um proud of our SRO program at Madison Consolidated and uh we are lucky

enough to have Mr Conover officer Conover as our SRO at Lydia minlon and if you know Travis he he's got that kind of tough exterior but I tell you what seeing him with those kids he melts like butter um they really take a liking to officer Conover and I would almost say that um they like OS Conover better than me because uh they you know he's in the cafeteria he's at recess he's um this year we've really worked hard at um having small groups with him and he so he's mentoring students and um it's really been a neat thing to see um especially in year two of our SRO program it's really taking off and um you know this this picture on the slides you can see those boys we had a theme day and

all of those boys in preschool decided we wanted to be like officer Conover so we wanted to make sure we uh captured that moment and uh we're we're thankful to the school board for allowing us to have SRO in all of our buildings and we're we're blessed another celebration and um our literacy coach will be speaking in a few moments um with you all to share some of our highlights and and um really zero zeroing in on the goals that we have and how we're trying to accomplish those schools and so um I will let her speak but one of the things that she does is she works with our teachers um on what we call coaching cycles and within those coaching Cycles she's teaming up with the teachers on a specific skill and within

that uh specific skill she's um working closely with them in the classrooms teaching co- teing um and it's only strengthening our Core Curriculum so uh one of the things that I wanted to celebrate is our first grade team has been really um successful at making sure that they are working with our literacy coach each month and I have all of my first grade teachers can say that they've had coaching Cycles every month of this school year with our um literacy coach so we are we are really working hard on that primary building that primary Foundation um which we will um continue to build upon as as they move through the grades at Lydia Milton one of our goals this year um working with some of the feedback and Survey data from um the communications um

coordinator uh we wanted to focus on our communication internal and external um so we've been working hard to improve that at Lydia Middleton and make sure that within our building our our staff is um plugged into each other and we're communicating well and that we're also doing the same with the community one of the things that we did at the beginning of the year and it was the first two months of school and I heard some grumblings because teachers were like oh my gosh you know we've got we've got a lot on our um on our plates and things going on and Mr wayale is telling us to do this but what we found out was um I challenged the staff to reach out early on in the year to to families and I challenged

them to reach out to minimum 10 families in their classrooms and just share positive information what you know what's positive going on um and so we kept track of the um feedback and the the data there and we had at least 178 positive interactions in those two months with families and so when you think that liia midleton we have 35 approximately students um you know we're in the first two months we're positively engaged with um that amount of families so um we were U we saw some great results and built those foundations and those relationships with families early on um and Everyone likes to hear how their their kiddos doing in school so um just reaching out and having that positive um contact was was a great thing we're going to dive deeper into this

in a few moments but with our vision being achievement focused we um really started to look at our data and uh we own our data uh there are things that we're proud about and things that we are going to continue to work on so I want to share with you our Ela and math scores from last year but on the next slide um we're going to compare that with the state and I really um really want you to see um and put that in perspective with how we're doing with the state so when you compare us throughout the state of Indiana with our IAD scores we are very proud of our last year's performance we're in the top 133% of the schools in Indiana um we are at a 93% pass rate um so we're

very proud of our scores but we we have things that we're working on and zeroing in on with our goals and our um alignment with curriculum and with our um literacy coach going into classrooms and um we're really drilling down on some things um I learn uh Ela we're in the top 43% of the schools I learn math we're in the top 23% of schools in Indiana and if you combine Ela and math we're in the top 30 so one of the things I wanted to point out there is we have room to grow but if you see all of those indicators you see top top top top so um that's one thing that I really am proud about that um you know when you compare us with Indiana schools uh we're listed in the

top um do we have things to work on of course we do and that's why um we have our goals this year um I going into um our IAD scores I did want to point out and I know um Danielle will point this out um here in a few moments but um our 2223 IAD scores we were at 91.3% last year we had the goal with our Indiana um Cadre literacy Cadre of um 93% and by goly we did it so um we did meet um with our third graders in 20 324 we had 93% pass our goal um obviously would be 100 we'd love to have that and that's what we're working on and aligning our goals um by 2027 the state of Indiana um is requiring us to have 95% of our students

pass so a lot of the intentionality behind what we're doing and forming those goals and um aligning them with um our um curriculum and uh we're we're really working hard to to get there so what are we doing um how are we valuing our students how are we valuing our staff one of the biggest things one of the biggest um changes this school year cross District um and we're starting to see the positive implications was having our PLC early release time the district was intentional with how we rolled that out with our staff and um and we've been very intentional with focusing on data and making sure that we're having conversations week to week about our students and how they're performing and and those data pieces so this is only going to see we're only

going to see our scores continue to rise across District so um thank you for allowing us to have that early release time each week um it's it's been great to see teachers sit down have the time to talk about students how they're performing and what they can do to accelerate their their reading or excuse me their uh learning we've been very um intentional and worked hard to align our interventions across the district um it took some Growing Pains but it we're seeing the payoffs already so our interventions are aligned with our curriculum they are um scientific proven to be successful and every Elementary is doing the same thing so we're getting those arrows pointed in the right direction and middle of the year and and Danielle's going to share some middle of the Year data

with you we're all every every um student third and fourth grade we saw growth out of from beginning of the year to middle of the year so um we're we're seeing some great things happen from the the changes and hard work that we're putting in um we we're investing in our students by um providing uh writing PD for our teachers and that's something that's happened across the um curriculum across the district and um that's one of the things that um you know when we talk to teachers and how we can improve um we writing has been a piece that we um have targeted as we and trying to improve and you know when it comes to our um standardized testing our state testing typically our writing portions are are lower so that is something we've

invested in as a district and U providing that for our teachers and our students um at this time I want to introduce our literacy coach at Lydia Middleton Daniel Hawkins and she's going to um share how we're meeting some of the um goals that we've talked about so as TR said I'm Danielle Hawkins and I am our um literacy coach down at Lydia Middleton um this year I have to say we are really rocking and rolling last year you know I came in as a new person new to Madison New role um there were quite a few growing pains and things like that this year it's been from day one I've either been in classrooms teachers have been either talking to me we've already been planning things I mean right from that very first day

of school so this year we have really been trudging along and it's been awesome um so again um the Indiana literacy CAD our goal is 95% of students will pass um Madison is a whole right now we're at 83.8% pass rate and Lydia Middleton we are at a 93% pass rate that was a big celebration for us again um because that was our goal that we'd set so coming in and working with my TSS that was a big celebration for us to be able to say hey we reached this goal for last year no let's keep moving um for our goal this year and so as a literacy coach something that I do is I participate in coaching Cycles um up here you can see these are kind of the seven core practices for student

centered coaching um so essentially what I do is I plan with teachers we'll go in and a teacher will say Hey you know either my whole class is maybe having some difficulty with something in reading or maybe there's just a small group of kiddos that they're wanting to Target so we'll have some planning time together we'll plan we'll set some goals and specific learning targets that are aligned with the standards and then from there we'll plan lessons together um and these lessons could be I'm in the classroom every day that week um recently in first grade we decided we'd plan out a whole writing unit over the course um from October through December um and that was just me and their classrooms a couple days a week because we decided hey this is the time

that we can squeeze that in we want to be really intentional just a few days a week um and along the way as we are co- teing together we're stopping we're looking at our students growing or wow that worked really well or oh my goodness they were like deers in the headlights with that we need to revamp and get back to that so it's great having that planning piece together getting to just have that second set of eyes as well on the kids as you know my teachers are doing their portion of kind of our co- teing i'm able to kind of Monitor and what we call notice a name just say oh you know little Johnny he was really getting that or you know oo maybe they were struggling a little or wow we're

really gonna have to push that kiddo because man they are just really flying by with that um so this year a few of my examples um were first grade teachers my first grade team um can't brag on them enough they're a fantastic group of ladies um we recently did a pie coaching cycle so persuade inform and entertain um and yes we did bring in pie for the kiddos as well as a little treat um for them um with this when we gave our preassessment 100% of the students all classrooms scored below 80% on the preassessment and their understanding of these Concepts um so the pre-assessments that lets us know okay we're on the right track because sometimes as teachers we've during coaching Cycles we've thought hey this is what those kiddos really need and we'll

give them a preassessment we'll go well they did okay on that so we'll kind of revamp and really Target what the kiddos actually are missing um and by the end of that um 77% were either at 80% or above and so that was really impressive there and then we're able to also with that we weren't quite at 100% of our students scored that so the teachers and I we've already replanned together again and it seemed like for some reason that inform form was something they still were struggling with so my first grade teachers and I from this coaching cycle already have a plan to start another one this next month to really get those kiddos the informational writing part of this um and in second grade um a really powerful one was our decoding small

group cycle we used our Dibbles data at the beginning of the year to really Target just a small group of kiddos that we were like man they're just really not growing where they need to be and so we began with our used our Dibbles data for our pre-assessment we progress monitored all along we actually brought in some multi-sensory things where the kids were using and their hands touching seeing saying um and four out of five of our students grew in that as as well and then with that one kiddo who didn't quite get that we were able to remake that plan and sometimes the plan might not necessarily include me in that coaching cycle it'll be me helping the teacher make that plan and they'll say okay yep definitely putting that kid in my intervention

group or you know during that ufly lesson I'm going to add just give them that little extra attention that they need and so this year especially all K through three teachers have participated in a coaching cycle or they've utilized me as a data thought partner and that's awesome um so I've had a lot of teachers who have just said hey you know I'm not ready for a coaching cycle yet I don't really you know need the co- teing but I really just want to look at my data how should I formulate my groups here and so we've had a lot of intentionality with this data with my teachers super proud of them I can't brag on these teachers enough for really digging into this data to look at okay I think my kids might be

here but let's look at where the state is showing they are so we know we're not missing anything with our students um and if you want to know anything more about Student Center coaching I clicked a little link on there so the link down in the bottom um a big thing this year as well at Lydia Middleton and across Madison that has been super powerful with our students and I know all the literacy coaches and myself we are so excited about the adoption of our uly program um so ufly it is a phonics curriculum and so essentially what that means it teaches kids letters and sounds it teaches them these tricky vow teams like Ai and ay it teaches heart words um and it also hits big on handwriting and spelling and that is a

big thing that our students really have struggled with and that our students really need um we have already seen growth with this we are just again I can't say it enough how excited I'm going to be at the end of this year to see the just from those teachers who are teaching this explicitly and with Fidelity um because we've already seen growth as we're going into collecting our middle year of the Year Devil's data and our K through 2 at the end of this month I really think that we're going to see a huge jump and a huge improvement from all of these great things that we're doing with the science of reading with coaching Cycles but also with this program here and and so just to give you a little snit bit of the

program too if you walk into any classroom at Lydia Middleton the kids if they're doing youly and you say what what are we doing right now they're going to go oh you fly um so just so you can get it from a kids's perspective to um explain kind of what ight is we have a couple videos here of some of our kiddos um so this is our first grader number one to explain youly tell us what does youly teach you letters writing sentences and you meet awesome and do you like doing you fly and he was not prompted to say yes I promise they all did if you ask them you go do you like youly yes what do you learn during youly how to spell words do you learn anything else how to write

words awesome do you like youly yes what do you like about youly I get to write letters on paper awesome gets to write them on the paper so um part of the youly program that allows teachers to automatically have good data with it so the teachers will teach two lessons a week with this the lessons are broken up into day one day two and then on Friday it automatically comes with the progress monitoring so the teachers can see immediately where they're at and this has helped a lot of our teachers with that skill-based grouping so rather than doing the leveled reading books they're actually able to see okay no that kid really can't spell those words or you know that kid really they're just memorizing those words they're not really doing the decoding on that

so that's what when he said I like writing on the paper can you tell us what youly is it's a phonic slideshow thing where you learn how to spell stuff and you learn vowel teams and what vowel teams say and you learn words that have those teams in them good job and believe it or not she actually before she said stuff when I said hey can you tell me what it is she actually said it's a full phonics program and we do all of this so I mean our kids really are understanding and knowing what this program is so tell us some things that you learn in youly you learn how to write words that you never knew before and there's blending drill visual drill awar and so this program really and again I'm thankful

that all of our elementaries are utilizing this as well um it's our you again the uly program and it does letters and sounds and it's just Al together going to really help our reading MERS um and especially once these kiddos get to third grade this is really going to help them with that decoding piece so then the teachers are going to really be able to focus on that comprehension piece because you know science says you can't comprehend what you can't read and so thank all these things are helping get the kids to where they can read so then those comprehension skills can move through and this shows just some of our data here in our K through 2 nwaa um you can just see the growth there so um every student did grow in this

as well um between our fall and our winter we went from the 58th percentile to the 67th or 62nd in our achievement on this so all of these great things that we have going um in our NWA reading we are really growing with that and then our Dibbles as well every kid we only have our third and fourth grade data um growing right now at the end of this month I'm going to be excited when we do our K through two so every student has grown in this our third grade teachers are also using this um many of them are doing it tier one if they don't feel like 60% of their class needs at tier one they're pulling them back in intervention and using this and this is one of our intervention programs as

well we're really working on taking away that cognitive load for these struggling kiddos so what I mean by that is when we're giving kids intervention if we're using one program where we're teaching the whole class and then we're going into a small group and we're teaching something completely different using different maybe the same concept but using different words to teach that concept that kind of can confuse the kids and just make that cognitive load they're going okay I think I know what you're trying to get me to do but I'm not sure so now with using youly is also one of our intervention programs it's helping we're using the common language the common things they understand that visual drill they understand the procedures with it so our interventions are much much more intentional with it

um and so again just super excited about everything that we have going on reading wise with this and next up is Mrs Hoskins I watched all of your faces when you saw those cute videos of those kids being alive because they were so excited that's that's what fuels me and I think that's what fuels Lydia Middleton I think that's why we have a lot of teachers that choose to stay there um we're family and I really appreciate not only being the school social worker at Lydia I'm a proud mom I started when my little boy was in three-year preschool he's in third grade now y I'll be a mess next year y'all but anyway um just so proud to be a part of this wonderful school um I am also our adviser for the mayor's

Eagles the mayor's Eagles are groups of fourth grade students that really want to try to be leaders student leaders um to be a mayor's eagle and I think I have it on one of my slides and I'll go back to nurture groups to be a mayor's Eagle you have to be a fourth grader you have to sign a little uh why would you like to be a leader it could be I like to help people that's fine with me we and they have to promise to keep the grades up and to you know do their assignments but basically that's it anybody can be a mayor's Eagle you don't have to be a straight A student you just got to have a heart for service so this year we really wanted the mayor's Eagles to take

a leadership role in our houses so Mr wayy mentioned that we broke our big our four big houses into families our mayor's Eagles are kind of the Guardian leader of each of those families so when we do an activity like we did um we've been talking about the TBR principles in our house meetings you know being respectful and sticking together and just the Core Concepts that we want across our school our mayor's Eagles have had the younger kids within their families that they've helped Shepherd along that way so we're really enjoying them having that opportunity to be a leader so that's been real nice um going back um the mayor's Eagles uh this year have done several things other than that as well there are 24 kiddos at Lydia Middleton that are currently mayor's Eagles

um we do spend some time with Mayor Bob Courtney mayor Courtney usually comes and does a breakfast with them to talk about the role of city government the roles of things that they can do within our community to help our community be successful which the kids really love that we also this year they take a big part in our Red Ribbon Week showing good habits teaching people to make good choices trying to be good Role Models uh they also did the food drive this year uh they will help with our kindness week this year as well and we do a city government day with the mayor's Eagles so that's really a nice thing they're just kind of our people that they'll meet you at the door like if we have our centennial celebration the mayor's

Eagles were the ones that were welcoming the dignitaries and everybody that came um so I I enjoy being a part of the mayor's Eagles um I'm also very proud uh to be the School social workers so part of my role is I do the general character education uh which are the core social emotional learning values that kids need to learn they need to learn things about what is bullying how do we prevent bullying what do you do uh we talk about child safety but then we also talk about things like how do you manage yourself in a classroom I mean are you allowed to lay in the middle of the carpet with your body on top of your best friend you know body management self-regulation things like that so we do that generally across all

the grades um including preschool I'm in preschool now too and then we have started a bigger nurture group slash social skills groups at Lydia this year uh the nurture groups are from the TBR principal nurture groups that um have a certain like outline basically where you talk about certain topics but we've also done things like regulation groups we've done um uh be a buddy group we have a c we had a couple of kindergarteners that really were having issues just even knowing how to talk to each other so we've done a couple of smaller groups so the groups have been anywhere from the size of eight to the size of three so we've really enjoyed that um this year before we did the groups we sent permission slips home explaining all that to our families

and we got like 168 permission slips back we sent those home and then we've had people call in and say well hey I want my kid in a nurture group or I want my kid in a group so that has been real good and that has given us an opportunity to connect with families so that's been a really good thing officer Conover does a group with some of our fourth grade boys right now I asked him today I said how's that going Travis he goes well we're working on respect and I said yeah I go how's that going for you he goes we'll get there so um so that has been a really nice thing in addition to just the tier one character Ed we're doing tier one groups but then we're also bringing in

some of the kids that need the tier 2 interventions the kids that need more intense and and thoughtful interventions and we're including them too we're allowing our kids that are exceeding in social emotional Concepts that really have great empathy and are good friends they're they're being mentors to kids within the group that aren't so we really are enjoying that opportunity so to kind of um just wrap it up as far as with with Lydia Middleton it is a pleasure to get to see those kids each and every day and to be their school social worker and I'm very very proud of where we're going I'm I'm proud that we're all starting to kind of use the same language like Danielle was talking about if you teach a concept like if I teach somebody about empathy

in a class right but I see them out on the playground not being so nice to somebody else I'm going to circle back around and and do something else to try to help them understand the concept and we just got to keep keep that so thank you all so much for your time thank [Applause] you that concludes our presentation thank you for your time and for letting us share a little bit about lyia Milton thank you very much you thank you Mr wayy thank you Danielle and Amy appreciate your input tonight all right we are now opening our statutory meeting 25-105 approval of the OB
