Quinn Herder All right, we're going to get started. Welcome to the field for the 2019 All right, we welcome to the field senior, your captain number three, Quinn Herder. Her mom, Kim, and her brother, Quinn has been playing softball for 12 years and is also a basketball player. Quinn will be heading to Syracuse University in the fall to study kinesiology and neuroscience. First senior being honored is Quinn Herder. Who will be starting today batting ninth and playing center field. Okay, we'll have you guys stand behind the plate and then parents get to be handed to them, okay? And get to the parents. I can confirm that the Westwood team has officially started their descent down to the field. They have a recorded message. Hold on, stand by first. On Quinn's side. >> The next senior
being honored is Taylor Kotch, number six. She'll be batting eighth and playing right field for the Clockers tonight. Hey Taylor, mom and dad. We're so proud of you and excited for the next chapter in your life. You're going to really crush it at Syracuse, just like you're about to crush this softball. And our final senior senior at captain number 11, Rebecca Kriegsman. Next up is number 11, Rebecca Kriegsman, the captain. She'll be batting seventh and playing left field tonight. Rebecca has been playing softball for 10 years. She's also played softball, was on the swim team, is a MIAA student-athlete advisory committee board member. She is a National Honor Society current president. She is a peer leader here at Assumption. Tri-captains, Taylor Couch Yeah. You Yeah. I thought you were talking. Oh. So, captains, uh, Taylor
Couch, Rebecca Kriegsman, and Quinn Herder have all been honored today, which is really nice. Uh, parents have come out. Always a nice tradition that some of the underclassmen present them with gifts. That's what they've done. And, uh, looks like we have a gift basket for the parents as well here. So, they're doing it right here in the softball program. They make sure these kids get sent off in style. Uh, Taylor Couch even got a message from her parents played over the speaker, which is pretty cool. Wishing her the best. Yep. While your softball career may be coming to a close, we are so excited >> Maddie That's a fantastic addition to to a senior day. It really is. What a nice What a nice gesture on behalf of the coaching staff. I know Pam Curtis
put a lot of thought and effort into making sure that these girls got sent out in style. She You know, it's when you talk about high school athletics, um the importance of good people on the coaching staff is you can't say that enough, right? What these folks do, the amount of time and effort and hours they pour into the young athletes that they're mentoring and Larry Sasso obviously has done a tremendous job moving in as the head coach for the Clockers this year in the new role. But Pam has been a stalwart to these girls. And Pam has been someone who has been a lifetime Clocker. I know that she was on your first ever team, Coach Torosian. And you know, beginning back in 1984 when she was a pitcher and a shortstop. But Jacob,
I I can't say enough great things about Pam and I know I know how much effort she has put in to make sure that this particular day and this moment was going to be special for these seniors. Yeah, coaching means a lot, especially in high school sports. It, you know, it can turn a a bad season for a a player, a team. It can make it just a whole lot better. And having a good coach is just like the best thing possible for a high school athlete. So, it looks like right now, Ashland Youth Softball President Shawn Wiglich is sending a little message to the to the seniors as well. Uh Shawn is certainly a a terrific supporter of Ashland Athletics and he has been working with the youth in town for quite some time.
And it looks like he brought some youth players to to also share some gifts with the seniors today. So, again, this is this is just been a really nice tribute to three really terrific young women young student-athletes who have meant a lot to this school who have meant a lot to this team and they're they're certainly going to be missed. They're going to be missed on and off the field and we wish the best to them as they move on to the next stage of their educational careers. Again, Rebecca Kriegsman headed off to Bates and Taylor Kotch and Quinn Herder are both headed off to Syracuse University. So, impressive schools as well for these three. Very impressive schools.
