Hi everybody. Welcome back to TechSafe episode 64 coming to you from WACA TV in Ashlin, Massachusetts. I want to give a shout out to our producer Paul. Thank you for having me in here today. And my name is CC Ducet. I am the director of Massachusetts for safe technology as well as the project called safer screen time which offers an online course that can be completed in about an hour to teach people what the wireless radiation issue is. So please feel free to go to safer screen time for a good primer. It'll only take you about an hour to complete that online course. I am honored to have with me today a very wonderful guest, Dr. Alexia Mcnite. Dr. Mcnite and her also medical doctor husband are joining us from Pennsylvania. Uh Dr. Mcnite, if

you could please say a few words about what your background is and then we'll have your husband introduce himself as well. I actually am a veterinary radiologist and I do equin MRI almost exclusively and in um residency we certainly learned about the dangers of ionizing radiation and we did not learn anything about the dangers of nonionizing radiation. I happened to come across that with personal experience which we will discuss I'm sure in a little bit. >> Excellent. and I'm delighted to meet your husband for the first time. Sir, could you please introduce yourself? Tell us what your background is. >> Yeah. So, my name is uh Larry Mcnite. I um am a board-certified um internist um trained at at the Mayo Clinic. Um I currently work in informatics but um u you know during my

you know practice in 20 years or so of of uh hospital medicine never really learned about um you know EMF issues at all. Um and got exposure basically through you know experience of of having my wife go through this and initially I was very very skeptical. um uh you know one it's not taught at all in in medical school. Um but after uh researching um you know doing the deep dive in terms of you know how did that conclusion get determined um there's obviously more to the story and um that's you know basically the the the deep dive that I've had. >> Excellent. And you make such good points, both of you, is that as trained professional doctors, you were never taught about these low-level nonionizing, non-therrmal microwave radio frequency exposures that we are all

now immersed in today. And we are so very pleased that there are experts all over the world working on this. The first medical school textbook is now available. And with great thanks to Dr. Panagopoulos out of Greece. He pulled together experts from literally different countries and different specialties to create this medical school textbook that is called electromagnetic fields of wireless communications, biological and health effects. And then we're also so grateful to Elizabeth Kelly and doctors and scientists from around the world who have developed the EMF or electromagnetic fields medical conference. That conference was available for 24.5 continuing medical education credits. And when that 2-year accreditation period expired, Elizabeth Kelly took the entire conference, all four days of lectures, discussion panels, and additional materials and put them online at no cost. So any doctor, any nurse,

any healthc care practitioner, and even members of the public can go out to the EMF medical conference 2021 and just mark your calendars, a half hour here, an hour lecture there, and you will learn from top scientists and doctors around the world. So if you go to my website at Massachusetts for safe technology on my resources page, this document for the EMF medical conference is right there in the top bullet. So we are grateful that we have resources today to train. But for all of those who went through medical school and never learned about this, I think that your experience with the utility smart meter that was mounted on your home is a very strong testament to why we need protections from our local utility companies, from our state level departments of public utilities, and

from our legislators. We have two bills here in Massachusetts to give people the right to opt out of these man-made radio frequency transmitting utility meters for gas, water, electric, solar, even propane are putting these transmitters on. So I would be very grateful if you would share your story with us on how you came from knowing nothing about nonionizing radiation to the experiences that you and your family have had and then to what you've had to do in the legal system to try and protect your family. I was coming home from running some errands on November 30, 2015 and there was a utility truck at the top of the driveway and he was there to install the new meter. Okay. So, we put the meter on and that evening I had a very bad headache and

I couldn't get rid of it. I've never been one to have bad headaches. And then the next day I became irritable. Some of my friends started to notice like what's wrong with Lexi? You know, she's just just snappy, irritable. Um, my neck started really hurting. My back started really hurting. My abdomen started hurting. And slowly I I lost um my memory was just slipping. I It was very difficult to maintain a conversation at my office dictating my MRI reports. I was unable to read what I just dictated. Um, and the ability to to focus, to concentrate, to to function in my office at my job was becoming very very difficult. And as time went on, I also started to get a cardiac arrhythmia and never had heart problems in my life. And I found myself

calling a cardiologist. And all of these symptoms happened immediately after that installation. So I um as as time continued to go on, the symptoms continued and they continued and they continued. The headache, I got depressed. Um like I said, my memory and the aches and the pains and this was pretty much constant for about 6 months. >> Oh my goodness. And then we were very lucky to have another electrical problem at the house and that was the utilities responsibility to fix. So they came over and in the process of sorting that out they took the smart meter off the house and my headaches went away, the depression went away, the cardiac arrhythmia went away, my aches and pains lessened. I was um feeling so much better and it was with better w my cardiac arhythmia

was better in in two weeks and by a month it was just gone and everything else had just improved as well. And I always felt pretty good like that for the summer cuz this was in May, May 24th. And then come September, I started to get uh headaches again. I couldn't sleep. That was another big big symptom actually. Entirely unable to sleep. Entirely unable to sleep. I tried all different beds and sofas in the house. I couldn't just couldn't sleep. So I ended up going outside. We had a little sailboat parked in the backyard and I could sleep out there. It was cold. It was in December. I could see myself breathe. But I could sleep. I could go to sleep easily and I could stay asleep. So the insomnia was a big problem. So

in the September after um many months of of feeling much more normal again, I the insomnia kicked in and the headaches and the aches and the pains and the arrhythmia started back up again and I had just come back from a business trip and I had was blaming the trip. Sometimes uh there's a lot of exposures, electromagnetic fields on business trips that I didn't have in the house. Since that smart meter exposure, I became much more sensitive to the electrical environment around me. I never really had this problem that was a big problem. If I put a cell phone up to my head, it would hurt my head. If I touched the laptop, it would sting my hand. So, I didn't put the phone up to my head. And I didn't touch the laptop with

my hands. Problem solved. And then I found that uh I would get I wouldn't feel well outside traveling. So when I'd come back to the house, the symptoms usually get better, but they weren't. They weren't getting better. Weeks later, they weren't getting better. And so then it occurred to me, well, these symptoms are awfully similar to what I had experienced before. So I ran around to the back of the house and sure enough, they had installed the smart meter again. Oh boy. And so I was still very lucky that this other electrical problem that the utility was was supposed to fix hadn't fixed thankfully. So I had the business card of the technician who took the meter off the first time and he came I told him like you know hey we still have this

three voltage problem. He's like ah okay well I I can take the meter off a second time for you be out there on Monday. He took the meter off again. The depression lifted. The arrhythmia improved, the headaches improved, the insomnia went away, aches and pains. Again, two total cycles. All of these symptoms, this all of these clusters of symptoms started immediately when that meter was installed, and they all went away when that meter went away on two separate occasions. >> Oh my goodness. >> Well, so telling >> of the Exactly. The timing of all this makes, you know, coincidence nearly impossible. just it it's it was definitively the the that meter. >> Mhm. >> So then to complain about it to get to to keep it off the house. Now remember he pulled it a

second time because we had this other electrical problem. Well finally they they had fixed settled it the problem. I think it took them over a year maybe 14 months something like that to fix this other problem and they finally fixed it. So to keep the smart meter off the house, we had to file u these legal proceedings. It's becoming parties to a lawsuit essentially. And you know, as debilitating as those symptoms were, there was no way I I could live in my house with that meter on. You know, I I I can't have the headaches. I I can't be depressed. I I have to have a functioning heart. I have to have a mood, energy. I I didn't have any of those things. So it was non-negotiable. I couldn't live in this house with that

smart meter on. So we had to go through these all these legal proceedings which ultimately took eight years before goodness. >> We finally lost after six, eight legal briefs that Larry wrote for me. Um fighting these utilities and dealing with the unbelievable the cards were so stacked against all of the litigants. the utilities would wouldn't respond in a timely manner. They had so many days to to object to a filing. Well, they didn't, you know, days later, week later, still no paperwork. And, you know, when you make technical errors like that, case people are known to win over these technical errors. But that's okay. The the utilities were always able to just file things late with no explanation. And even during our our legal hearing, the lawyers for the other side weren't even licensed in

the state of Pennsylvania. They were out of state attorneys. And ordinarily, you file paperwork, you know, to be what? Prohakichi, I think is the name of what you're supposed to do. They didn't do that. So, they went they they argued on their side throughout the 3-day hearing, never being allowed to be there, and we objected to that. And you would think that would carry some weight, but no, that's okay. That didn't matter either. They were allowed to do that. Um, and just what two hours ago, I get a text from another another litigant and she's fighting on her litigant and in the process of peeing appealing from the Pennsylvania PU court to the Commonwealth Court and having that record um, transmitted over. Well, in there she just happened to notice on her docket number a

new filing for a letter submitted to her six years ago that was never part of the record. and suddenly did he just wanted to insert it into the record just hoping nobody noticed and then and and submit that to the Commonwealth Court. So she has to fight that. These are the things that we're we're dealing with legally and uh it's it's been impossible essentially. So after eight years of fighting, one of the other cases that was very well represented, uh, the Povatch case, they had great legal representation and ultimately in the Commonwealth Court after they got beyond the PUC court, which was really going nowhere. The Commonwealth Court kind of ruled there was never a mandate to begin with, and that was that was what we needed to hear. And you were being told that

it is required for you to take these smart meters on your home. That it was mandated at the state level, >> mandated, but a seventh grader could read the language of the law and and read it was it was optin language. It was voluntary. >> So when the Connell court finally ruled it was never a mandate, we thought great. Oh, until somehow in the Supreme Court, the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court, they overruled that and say, "Oh, oh, yeah, it was. It was it was mandated." Even though the language is crystal clear, it was not mandated language. So, we know there was no win. No win. So, we ultimately just went off the grid. We generate all of our own electricity. And that was that was the tail end of our story. with expensive filtering. Yeah,

I I do have a a meeting I got to get to in like one minute. >> Well, Larry, thank you so much for joining us and for everything you've done to protect your wife and your family and your home. Uh it's very inspirational because we're all pioneers in this and we don't have a playbook to say this is how you win. It comes through family by family, experience by experience to teach our legislators and our local uh representatives what this issue is. So, I think your story is very compelling and we're very grateful, Larry, that you took the time out of your busy day to join your wife. Um, and we'll continue talking with Lexi, but thank you so much. >> Okay. Thank you. Yeah. >> All right. So, Lexi, I was at our local

farmers market a couple of weekends ago and there was a table with our select board. These are the, you know, like our city council. It's called a select board here. And there's a woman who serves on there by the name of Claudia Bennett. And Claudia is wonderful. She has worked through our schools uh as a school committee member. She worked on the local education foundation for years in its early years. and she became an administrator in one of our schools and I told her that we were going to do a free public education webinar and we would be featuring Ken Gartner who's a building biologist to talk about these utility smart meters and I was sharing a little bit of the science to say why it's important that we have a no fee opt out.

Well, I didn't get that far. She came up with it on her own and she goes, "Well, why don't people just opt out?" And I said, "Because we have not been granted that right to opt out without being penalized a fee." So up until now, the company that services our town in Ashlin, Massachusetts is called Eversource. The other big one in Massachusetts is National Grid, and they have offered an opt out through National Grid for a number of years, but you have to pay for it. So, you literally have to pay to get your public utility in addition to what you're already paying for that utility. >> And so, I was grateful that Claudia Bennett asked that really good question because we should all have the right to opt out. And it just breaks my

heart that in Pennsylvania, your PUC or public utility commission has not seen fit to protect the public. Most of the time we see that these companies roll into town and they tell our towns, "Hey, you can save money by using these smart meters instead of the trusted analog meters that would actually last 40 or 50 years without needing to be replaced. We can save you the cost of a walker going through your town to get those readings if you sign up for these digital utility meters." And it sounded like a great idea for our towns because who doesn't appreciate a cost save, but they were never forthcoming with the facts on the biological effects that you have described unfortunately so beautifully here today. Um Lexi, you told me a story one time. I shouldn't even

call it a story. It was a terrible experience about you and your daughter being out in the car one day. Can you walk us through what that experience was? I is that with trying to remember which which incident we had at the stoplight. >> Oh yeah. I was coming back from dance. The smart meter had been installed and it had been on the house for a while and I was coming coming home and the light ahead of me changed and for the life of me I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do. I didn't know if green meant go or stop. And I panicked. I just panicked. I went through that light thinking, hoping, praying. Green really did mean go. But I um just Yeah. My the what the effects on my my brain

were intense. and to have your daughter in the car and to not be able to use those cognitive abilities is just unconscionable that our departments of public utilities would choose that over giving us the right to opt out. So, we're very honored that up in uh Vermont they have had a no fee opt out since 2012. And sometimes the utilities will come back and say, "Oh, no. We can't get those analog meters anymore. You have to have these digital meters." Well, I picked up the phone one day and I called one of the manufacturers and they said, "Well, of course, we can make whatever the customer wants." So, this is just industry railroading us in to using the technology that they've come up with because they're making revenue off of it and our towns think

it's a cost save, but nobody is taking accountability for the biological factors and I think that should be front and center. So Lexi, I'm so sorry that you guys had to take it in your state through legal channels just to give you the right to opt out of this. And it turns out you lost. And so you've had to go off the grid and find other ways to produce what used to be public utilities. Now you've got your own private utility. Is that right? >> It was very expensive to do that, but yes. Yes, we generate all of our electricity now. And so how did you do that? >> We have a lot of solar panels on the roof and two big um poles with more solar panels in the yard and a very very

large battery bank for nighttime when it could be cloudy for a couple of weeks and you don't generate enough over the winter time. So between the solar panels and the battery backup, that's that's how we function now. very very pleased with our system. But it's also important to note we also had to spend about $10,000 worth in filtering. The solar inverters are normally very very noisy creating more um neurological irritations. >> And this is called the dirty electricity. And I believe that's probably what got me so sick from those smart meters to begin with. And this is an interesting point. It one of one of the reasons we lost the real reason was they actually never really reviewed our case. the Commonwealth Court kind of um oh they complained about our page numbers. There was

some Pennsylvania code we didn't know about where the page numbers had to be a certain way. We didn't know that. They didn't tell us that when they um accepted the submission. So when they ruled they said, "Well, you know, these these this code wasn't followed for the page numbers." And then they lumped us together with the the other case, the Povac case, which was arguing science about RF, the potential for risk. They had to show science. We didn't need to show any science. It was it. But for the meter itself, the harm would not have occurred. But they continued to rephrase our case in the PC court. They kept inserting words that we never argued about, trying to say that our case was about the RF, so we needed to to present the um the

science, the evidence. That's not true. In one of our uh petitions for reconsideration, Larry had a a nice analogy with the uh a ship hitting the bridge, which just so happened to occur in Baltimore right around the time we were doing this. And um his analogy was that bridge the the ship hit the bridge, the bridge fell in the water. So um we were complaining that the ship hitting the bridge caused the bridge to fall in. That's all you need to show. You don't have to show how or what or why it happened. But the other side was trying to argue something, you know, metaphorically speaking. Well, because it was a diesel ship, then we have to prove how diesel ships are unsafe >> for all people. And that's not the case in in our

legal case. It was, you know, but for that ship hitting the bridge, bridge fell in the water. That was the case. and they kept refraraming it to make us prove the science of that whole ordeal. And so ultimately that's what that's all that the PUC kept trying to argue was was but you know because of that RF effect and all the science was never our argument to begin with. So the Commonwealth court seemed to more or less just jump over all of that. They didn't address any of that. They just our page numbers were off and we're close enough to the Pobatch case. So, bye-bye. This >> Oh, Lexi, I am so sorry, but I'm not surprised. We have seen this with other industries. We worked really hard with Representative Patrick Abrami up in New

Hampshire on a law that would require New Hampshire forms a commission and investigates this wireless radiation issue. And they did a remarkable job. They brought in worldleading doctors and scientists um from our own government at the federal level and they determined that yes these man-made radio frequency radiation exposures are not safe and they came up with this groundbreaking report where they make 15 recommendations and again this is on my website at Massachusetts for safe technology on the state efforts page but they called out the conflicts of interest with our federal agencies that have been captured by industry. And every time they wrote a new law to try and implement the 15 recommendations in this report, industry came in with their deep pockets and heavy influence and just torpedoed these beautiful bills that would have protected

the children, the adults, and the environment. So we see >> unconscionable. >> It is unconscionable and it happens all over. Um I do see one little glimmer of hope of changing some of the laws that have made our towns think they have no rights to speak up about this. In the current administration's Make America Healthy Again report, among other environmental pollutants that they are looking at, for the first time at the federal level, they have listed electromagnetic radiation or Wi-Fi as something that is harming us and our children and the environment and it needs to be addressed. But we know that kind of public policy will get dragged out like the courts did with you for years. You've been on this journey for 10 years just trying to protect your family in your own home.

So, while we are hopeful that there are important inroads happening at the federal level and the FCC, Federal Communications Commission, has been sued for ignoring 11,000 pages of evidence of harm, the courts found them guilty and they didn't give them a deadline. They said, "You need to do a better job of bringing public policy in line with the science, but it's been four years and they've done nothing." So we always have hope but we need to take action at the local level. We need for our towns to get informed on this and then to speak to the utility companies with which they are signing contracts and say anybody who wants an opt out gets an opt out without being charged a fee. And then we need to back these bills and have our towns speak

up to our legislators and say we want choice. We want the right to choose not to have these radiating devices imposed on us without any kind of informed consent. So Lexi, given the decade that you have given of your life to deal with this, what would you tell somebody today who's learning about this and may become electrically sensitive or what is today now being called EMR syndrome or electromagnetic radiation syndrome. What do we say to somebody who wants to avoid that or who is already struggling with EMR syndrome? >> Some of the interventions we did that were particularly helpful before the meter was removed was turning the power off at night. um ideally turning it off period while you're in the house, but I recognize, you know, you have you need the power for for

living. But at night time when you're trying to sleep, you it it prevents the emissions of these transients, these frequency transients that many computerized equipment, motors, um and the smart meter particularly are so strong and they're just so irritating. So the the body is unable to rest and in that evening detoxification process while you're trying to sleep well. It just can't happen when you're constantly being um irritated by these frequency transients. >> And then in addition to that turn off all wireless devices that you have control over which are you know cell phones and iPads um and games decked phones. Goodness. Yeah. replace those with with phones that are not constantly radiating. >> Um it it was appalling once you you get the proper equipment to measure what comes off all of these devices >>

and and it's easier to to um take that step and disable them when you can truly >> hear um >> what what they're emitting. Turning that inaudible electromagnetic field into an audible sound. And then it it's um much more convincing to those that don't believe, >> right? And it becomes like a scavenger hunt. And I was so honored that back in 2016 when I figured out there are radio frequency radiation detection meters because like you say, it's invisible. How do we know where these signals are coming from? I went after a grant in my town in Ashlin, Massachusetts, and we became the first in the nation to put a radio frequency radiation detection meter on loan. So, anybody in the neighboring towns who's part of the Minute Man Library Network, they can reserve this device

that's called an acousta meter that we bought in 2016 with a $400 grant with great thanks to our select board that funded me for that. Um, other towns, Upton now has one, Pittsfield has one, and others around the country are getting funding from their libraries to put a radiation detection meter on loan. And the one that was recommended most recently at the EMF medical conference is called the Safe and Sound Pro2 broadband radio frequency radiation detection meter. It's about a $400 device, but it does allow us to see and hear these signals. We look at the maximum spike. >> And in the scientific literature in our living areas, they want us to be at 10 microwatts per square meter or less. And so it is critically important to have a meter. and asking your library

to put one on loan is a a wonderful way to have a tool in the community that everybody can borrow. Measure your car, measure your schools, measure your office, measure your home >> because as our doctors will tell us, the cumulative effect as with any toxin >> gets greater and greater with dose. So this the game is to do the scavenger hunt and remove as many of these exposures and especially during sleep. Otherwise the body can't sell repair. We've only got so much energy and it's really well calibrated to get us through a normal day. And when all of our energy is depleted just trying to fight off all these signals, there's not much left to do the regular cell repair and regeneration. >> I can vouch for the quality of that safe and sound.

I had previously an acoustter which was fantastic for for some things, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. Um, >> and but it was unable to pick up those ultra short fast burst from the smart meters that we had in Pennsylvania. Okay. >> And I had a a friend with a car that made her very very sick and the acousta meter didn't pick it up, but that safe and sound meter did. They're very very short fast. It's like a bullet going right through. It's very real. But if you don't have the equipment sensitive enough to pick up those those bursts, those >> Dr. Mcnite, I love that you said that because it's been almost a decade since we put the acoustter on loan and I've been wondering if we should ask for funding to get a safe and sound pro

too. And now >> frequencies it cannot detect. >> Okay, great. >> The speed at which they are emitted, I should say. They're just too fast for that. And when we talk about frequencies, so we know through a scientist named Schuman who developed Schuman's resonance. We know from his research that the earth pulses these beautiful, healthy, healing electrons 7.83 times per second or 7.383 hertz. That's the unit of measurement is what we're all meant to be synchronized to. When we got into digital technology, we're now pulsating these man-made frequencies. In the megahertz range, which means 1 million times per second, we're getting jackhammered with microwaves. And in the gigahertz range, it's 1 billion cycles per second. So, it would be understandable that some of the older equipment wasn't picking up those faster bursts that are coming

at us. >> Yes. >> Oh. So, I have another question for you. Um the electric meters have been implicated as being very heavy um exposure units. What about the gas meters and the water meters that are now being switched over to smart meter systems? What kind of a a precaution do we need to know about those? >> Sure. That they do exist. You know, in my house here, we didn't have the gas or water to contend with. So all that I have to say about it, it would be third hand through other people but that I do know. One >> interesting fact of the water meter is sometimes they're in your house. They're inside your house in the basement for instance. And I do know people that get very very sick from those water gas

meters as well. Now in Pennsylvania, as of yet, to my knowledge, they weren't considered mandatory. um the water and gas like the the electric were. So some people were were able to uh circumvent that the need to have one of those, but I don't know how long that's that's going to be that that loophole. >> Well, so I want to give people hope and encouragement. Here in Massachusetts, we have a bill in the House. We have a bill well with great thanks to uh constituent Gene Lemieux who spoke to Representative Stella Reyes and she introduced a sister bill to one that Senator Michael Moore out of Worcester has had for a number of years to give us the right to opt out without being charged a fee. Because people who get sick from this radiation,

they often lose their ability to get out into society because they become sensitized to all sorts of man-made frequencies, whether it's Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or cellular. Our bodies can't handle that toxic load. And so they lose their jobs. And so now you've got somebody who's disabled and you're going to penalize them a fee >> just to access their public water, gas, electric services. It's unconscionable. >> This is another one of my beefs with this whole process is it was ridiculously expensive for us to do what we needed to do to protect my health and that of my family in this house. Somebody without as many resources would be at an enormous disadvantage. So the impoverished really don't have the ability to fight back um or >> buy the filters needed. We we've had to spend

$10,000 on filters for just to go off-rid alone, let alone the cost of the the off-grid system, which was far more than that. But the the filtering um is very expensive. The shields, some of the um perhaps some need RF bed canopies in order to sleep at night for RF exposure. They don't have the ability to turn off. They might be a tower right outside their bedroom. There's many people so affected and almost no resources to fight back. And my heart bleeds for those people. >> It is not appropriate. >> It's not. And you know, up in Canada, >> we have learned of people who have chosen the right to die because they are living in so much pain from this radio frequency radiation. And we never want anybody to have to face a decision

like that. >> So please everybody go out to Massachusetts for safe technology, click on the join us button and if you add yourself to my list, I will be sending out an action item so that we can reach out to our legislators and say please, it's been 10 years in the Massachusetts legislature. get these bills passed and protect every one of our citizens who want to opt out. But more importantly, that's a baby step. That's a first step. We should not allow these industries to roll out technologies that have been proven harmful time and again in the scientific literature. We need to step up and come to the table with these industries and work together to hardwire these meters to the home. Chattanooga, Tennessee has already done so. And then all of your data can

just go through the wiring and not through these man-made electromagnetic fields that are pulsating throughout the home. So, >> exactly. That was another answer that I I didn't get to about recommendations for others is is hardwiring all of the devices that they use in the house. So, the laptops, computers, the the phones, >> um tablets, etc. There's ca inter Ethernet adapters to plug these devices. >> Yeah, I've got one. When we talk about So, this is what the Ethernet cables are, right? This is how we always used to access our tech. You just plug it in the back of the to the back of your router and then you just buy a little dongle, a little adapter that plugs into the Ethernet cable, and then this part plugs into your device. So, there are solutions

for everything. I do a free public education webinar once a month and if you get on my list, you'll get the invitation for that to just come learn with us. People will come and learn one little baby step and they'll make a change and feel good about that and then they'll come back again and they'll learn a little bit more.
