I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to theublic to the republic for which it stands for it stands nation one nation under God >> indivisible indivisible >> with liberty and justice. >> Thank you. Now we'll start with roll call. Miss Matthews. Thank you, Madam President. Right. Miss Hoff. >> Uh, good evening. Present. >> You, Mr. Wright. Miss Richardson, >> present. >> Mr. Tong, >> present. >> Mr. Callahan. Miss Cook Henry, >> present. Miss Roberts, >> present. Miss Ivory >> present. >> Miss Boykins >> present. >> And now for student representatives, Miss Ascu Green, Miss Faber, >> present, >> and Mr. Torres. >> Madame President, that concludes. >> Thank you very much. Um, at this time I don't have any comments. Um, what I would say is a lot going
on right now in the world and uh, I would just say for everyone to stay vigilant and prayed up and remember to help your neighbors and um, yeah, we'll go from there. Um, next will be Dr. Boots with the superintendent report. >> Good evening everyone. Uh I do have a report this evening that I will share. Um I hope everyone is safe in their location. So I have a few um announcements and some thanks to tonight. Most of you probably know that each year we conduct a beginning of year, middle of year and end of year assessment. And so uh we are in that stage right now in the middle of the year. And so students in grades three through eight have demonstrated uh on their assessment strong growth in mathematics as well as English
language arts. And we really want to highlight tonight there are about 42 teachers in our district whose students showed high or high average growth. And so I think it's important for us to take some time out and celebrate those teachers for their efforts. Um, and we will recognize our K through teachers once their results have been finalized. But on this screen here, you will see the 42 teachers that have either showed high or high average growth. You can see that we have five teachers that have high growth. And that's on the math side, which is the left side of this page. High average growth. We have some additional teachers in mathematics. And then high average growth for ELA for English language art map testing. And again, MAP testing is the measures of academic progress that
our students are making. So I just want to thank all of those teachers for their efforts as well as the students. So congratulations to all of those teachers and we will follow up with you also at a later point. also want to take a moment uh and thank our board members. Although we're not there uh in person, we definitely want to take a moment to say thank you for your efforts and what you do in support of the William Penn School District. Um it does not go unnoticed that this is an unpaid position and the amount of time and dedication that you give not only to the students and staff but to the administration as well. We want to say thank you so much and we will recognize you with um something when we are
in person but we did not want this moment to go by without acknowledging your efforts. So, thank each and every one of you. Also, I do want to thank Miss Melinda Tax for making sure that we uh receive this award. It's the Red Apple Well-being Award. Um, and it's for our involvement in the healthc care trust for the 2425 school year. She and uh Tracy Gartner are a part of the healthc care trust and so lots of times activities and information is shared with our staff as a result of us being a part of the healthcare trust. So I wanted to thank her for bringing this award to our attention and I want to continue to thank our um artistic artistic teachers who are providing support and band and choir to all of our students.
And so this these are just some of the pictures from our most recent uh activities that were held over the last two months uh December and in this month January. So thank you very much to the students and families as well as the teachers who provide support to our students. Also wanted to let you know that one of our very own is being inducted into the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame, Miss Sophia Lewis. She is a sixth grade teacher at Bell Avenue, but she is also a graduate of this school district. And I should probably say a 1997 graduate because I know that the graduates of Pinwood are very specific about the year in which they graduate. So, want to just um give a shout out to Miss Lewis on being inducted into the
Hall of Fame and congratulations and information is here if you are interested in attending the induction ceremony. It does not stop with the class of 1997. You can see that some students currently um are being recognized for their performance in track and field. Uh we do have some top performers. So, we wanted to bring this to your attention. Um and you can see where some of our students have placed. Also, not only are our students effective in athletics, they're also effective in the arts. Um, the Delaware County Community College typically hosts a regional high school art exhibition and you will see some of the pictures here. And I do want to thank uh Kiara Stokes who received a faculty award for Pinwood High School. Congratulations to you. Um, and just thank our students as well
as Miss Grunt for her continuous efforts to support our students in the area of art. Also, uh, again, this year, the Penwood Foundation is sponsoring a dress down day. I do want to encourage everyone to participate in this because these funds actually go towards scholarships for our students. And so, we want to make sure that we are continuing to support our students in their endeavors to further their education. So on Friday, February the 20th, you will have the opportunity to dress down and you can see the associated payments that the foundation is asking for people to provide if you participate. Also, uh once again, Evans Elementary School is hosting a small black business expo. It is on February the 26th, which is a Thursday, and we do want businesses to uh participate. So there is
a vendor registration form right here on the screen and you can get this information uh and it should be a very exciting uh expo as it has been in the last couple of years. Okay, board members, it's that time again. It's the polar plunge and I expect us to have at least three board members and for the last two years it's been me and one other board member and I'm doing it again. It's February the 20th, 2026. Let's go. >> I'll be there. B coats. >> Okay. Just put on some extra layers. You will be fine. I need my board members to show up. Now, I'm also going to challenge the administrators. We need some people to show up. All of the funds, all of the money that we would raise supports a very, very
special program, Special Olympics, and the athletes and our students. So, let's get ready. I'm telling you now and I'm going to remind you again, you need to do the polar plunge. Those are all of my announcements. Thank you all very much. I'm sure that you all will show up and be be in place. >> See, see, Dr. Beos, the way my skin is set up, [laughter] >> Miss Boykins, that sounds like an excuse. That's all I'm going to say. And I'm just going to leave it right there. basketball season will be over by that time. So, >> I'll give a second thought. >> Okay. Thank you. Thank you so much. >> Thank you so much. We'll we'll get around to talking about that. Um, can I get a motion to approve the agenda? >> Second.

>> Good evening. I hope everyone's staying warm. >> Hello, Eli. Good evening. I hope you're staying warm as well. >> I am. Um, generally the heating has been fixed, which I'm really excited about. Though there are some cold spots throughout classrooms, like throughout classrooms in the building. Um, as it comes up, it's being reported to the high school administration. >> Um, the morning lines have gotten a bit better, but there's an increased issue with students cutting in the line. I've discussed this with Miss Brown and it's an issue because students want to get out of the cold quicker and there aren't enough security guards to monitor the students and it's specifically in the uh issue what's like um on the like the entrance near the art room. The other two have like areas where students
can wait inside the building to before going through the metal detectors. That one is like directly outside. >> Okay. And you have already brought that up to Miss Brown, correct? >> Yes. >> And she's working. >> But there's not there's not much that like that can be done without another person being there to help. >> Okay. >> Um and then my last comment is keep an eye out for the High School theater production of High School Musical 2. Um it will be on the 20th, 26th, 27th, and 28th of February. >> All right. Thank you so much. We are also looking forward to that. I'm pretty sure a lot of board of directors will be attending that as well. Um any other um any other feedback or comments? >> No, not for tonight. >> All
right. Well, thank you so much and stay warm and hopefully we'll see you in a couple days. You know, you never know how this weather is going to be. >> Yeah. >> All right. Um next we are going to go to Ishmael Torres. is not on the call. >> Okay. All right. Thank you so much. >> All right. Next, we're going to go um to our special awards. I'm sure one of those can find us and get you situated. Thank you, >> Miss Vapor. I can
um [clears throat] you know, I'll I can uh if you guys are around on a Saturday, I can bring my basketball team and we can help out. >> So, if you're open to that, >> yes, >> I'll bring if we can >> if the weather cooperates next Saturday, we should be in the high school, I believe. So, I will connect with you. >> Okay. Yes. And as long as they don't change our games this week, but because of the weather, too. But Saturday, yes, I will make us available. >> Great. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> All right. And Miss Tax, you have the floor. >> Hello. I just have a couple clarifying questions on the treasures report. >> Okay. Um I know we talked about this in a committee meeting under the regular programs
elementary secondary. I just want to clarify that includes our brick and mortar the charter school and out of district placement. Correct. That's that's included in that 20 million. Dr. Because do you want me to answer that or you want Jen to answer that? >> I think it is correct. I'm not specifically sure where in the treasur's report she's speaking, but I know that that was an item that was on the budget and finance committee report. >> That is correct, Dr. Pico. >> Okay. And then special programs, is that just all the special ed, but that's not out of district for special ed. The out of district for special ed would fall under that regular programs or does it fall under special programs? It's a combination of both. >> Okay. And then sorry just I just
have a couple clarification other instructional programs. What does that include or just the category >> the that is the um tech schools? >> Oh that's tech schools. Okay. And then higher education programs. Is that including the staff tuition that we reimburse for and the students that are doing um dual enrollment or are those separated >> or is this just for students? Debbie, did you hear her question? >> I'm sorry. I was speaking and I was muted. Uh, >> can you tell me the line item that you're looking at, Mr. T? >> Sure. It says,700. It just says higher ed programs. I know we offer >> That's the dual enrollment. >> Okay. That is >> Uhhuh. >> It's dual enrollment for the for the students for county community college. >> Okay. And then other support services.
What falls under that? >> Is it 2000s? >> Yeah. No, 29. Is that 2900? >> That that would be Delaware County Intermediate Unit Services. >> Okay. >> Thank you for your questions, Miss Tax. At this time, we've hit our threem minute limit. We're going to open it up for an additional if anyone else has a question and then we can circle back to you if you have any other questions. All right. At this time, I don't see any other hands raised. We are going to move on to our uh communications. Miss Matthew, are there any communications at this time? >> There are no uh communications at this time. >> Okay. Um now we are going to go to our committee reports with regard to our first report community relations agenda our black history month proclamation.
Um this is it says whereas in in the year 1926 Mr. Carter G. Woodson black historian and founder of the association for the study of negro life and history and American life proposed black history week. And whereas Black History Month was established in 1976, is sponsored by the Association of the Study of African-American Life and History, which is also ASAH, and is observed in the entire month of February. The ASAH has selected the 2026 American Life History um the ASAH has selected the 2026 Black History theme as a century of black history uh commemor commemorations. Um, this theme honors this legacy of black history celebrations and encourages reflection on its significance and future in the fight of inclusion and accurate historical narratives, especially amidst efforts to restrict black history education. Whereas, in order to carry
on the tradition, Mr. Woodson began Black History Month is Black History Month is observed to inform and educate people about the history of African-American men and women and the contributions they have made to American life and culture. The yearly themes reflect changes in how people of African descent in the United States have viewed themselves in the influence of social movements and the historical importance of race relations in America. Classroom lessons in the schools of the William Penn School District will commemorate the study of African-American life and history.
