Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Ashlin girls hockey here on WACA TV your exclusive home for Ashlin High School sports. Today's Tri Valley League matchup features the Hopington High School Hillers versus your Ashlin Clockers. I'm George Tubin bringing you tonight's action high above center ice at New England Sports Center in Malro. And I'm fortunate to be joined tonight by longtime friend and youth hockey coach Jamie Trip. >> Hello. Thanks for having me, Kate. >> So, let me give you a quick background on these two teams, then I'll turn it over to Jamie for some insights. He's been uh much closer to this team than I have. So, first, the Hopkins and Hillers are made up of players from actually from Hopington High School, Millers High School, Nipmuck Regional High School, and Tri County Regional Vocational

Technical High School. So, they're a co-op. Ashlin Clockers is also a co-op now made up of players from Ashlin High School, Bellingham High School, Olison High School, and Medway High School. So, so far this season, the Hillers are 1 and4, one win, four losses. They got their first win against Wley High School last Saturday, and they're going to be looking to build on that momentum tonight and go for another win. Clockers so far are no wins and four losses, and they're really going to be looking to get their first win tonight against this team. So, let me turn to Jamie now for some for some some real insights rather rather than my background. >> Yep. >> So, we're only four games into the season. What you know, what's your perspective? What can you tell us

about the girls season so far? >> So, Ashton's a young team. We have uh three seniors, two juniors, and the rest are freshman and eighth graders. So, we're a very young team. Our goalie is a freshman. Um you know, where we are as a as a team. Um you know, high skill levels. I think they've just been trying to figure out the lines, figure out, you know, who the leaders are. um you know, got a lot of great stick handlers, a lot of good skaters. Uh we this team just has a lot of trouble putting the puck in the net. That's uh going to be we've been in every game. Uh the scores don't represent the level of play. Uh one of the games I think was pretty heavy was 7 to2 loss, but at

the end of the game, we let you know four goals in in like 3 minutes just because it was the first game and they were gassed. So now they got their legs underneath them. Um they're a talented group. They're good group of girls and uh you know, coaches coaching has been great too, you know. So everything is coming together uh you know like you said it's early in the season but I we really have a lot of positive things to to look at for what's going on and a lot of great players and I we this is a not a must win George but this is a hopeful win or should win and it's going to be either a very close game or some of these players on the hockey team that I know from

youth and from watching hockey for the last three years here they got some players. So there's going to be some fast hockey today uh and some some good shooting. >> Good. It's an exciting game coming up. >> Yes. And and is there any specific things we should be looking for out of the uh the clockers in today's game? >> The things we should be looking for and hope they happen is uh transition uh just like in any game it's it's getting that puck from from the defensive end through the neutral zone into the offensive on. Um we've had some trouble on breakouts, passing um just like any team does. But I find that uh you know just if you they haven't had a chance to play together as a team a lot cuz they have

some new players that came in as sophomores as well as freshman this year. Uh so first line is um you know obviously girls hockey is is really a two-line game where most regular hockey you look at a three or four boys game gets a little bit deeper on the bench. Uh most teams that are really good um stick to that two-line system. So maybe one two one two one two three bring in the third line. So if you don't stick to that rhythm and you try to match up your lines on offense and defense uh that's when you're going to run into trouble and get stuck in the zone and end up with a goal which is what's happened a couple times here. So >> excellent. All right, we're we got a couple of minutes

here before we get underway and we'll take a short break and we'll be back uh at Puck Drop here at uh New England Sports Center where the um Ashlin Girls hockey team is going to be Yeah. Ashlin Clockers Co-op. >> Ashlin Clockers Girls hockey co-op team, [laughter] which is a mouthful, but it is where Ashlin is going to take on Hopkins. Yeah, just call it Ashlin Hockey. Okay. In a few minutes hockey. Yeah. All right. We'll be right back. Thanks,
