001Cross country captains will now be handing the ball off to the football captains. Congrats to the Ashland cross country team, girls and boys, on an amazing state qualifying season. I'm sure Three, two, one. Maybe Hold on. Only one level is bouncing up and down. >> Yeah, I'm see. Hold on. Doesn't want to do it. Come on. They're both on internal for this one. Are you getting Are you like is it good for you or is it Yeah, there's only one Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. I don't know what the right process is. >> I took a couple Yeah. Yeah. actually brought I had forgot to bring it. >> Looks like >> that's what I figured. I might put that on later. Maybe with the post. >> We'll talk about that during the game though. Like, >> you
002know, after one week from the Ashland Fire Department. And I [music] want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Go Clockers. >> Men and women of the Ash Police Department, we wish you a [music] happy Thanksgiving and good luck in today's game. Go Clockers. >> The Ashlin DPW wants to wish you a happy Thanksgiving and best of [music] luck to our football team today in the game against Hopington. Go Clockers. >> Hi, I'm Joe Lane. Ashlin Community Theater wishes everybody out there a happy Thanksgiving. [laughter] >> All right, >> Jack Lewis here, your state rep on Deacon Hill, wishing you best of luck on your big game. >> Action. >> From everyone here at Techniplex, we want to wish you guys a happy Thanksgiving and good luck at today's game. >> Go blockers. Hey everyone, this
003is Marathon Deli. We just want to wish you guys a happy Thanksgiving and a great game today. Go Plyers. >> Happy Thanksgiving everybody. Let's go, Cloners. Welcome to Ashlin High School as we host a Thanksgiving Day classic. >> Will you hear us over uh the PA announcer? >> Yeah. No, I get that. That's I'm welcoming everybody. >> All right. Cuz we were a little faint on one of the other pregame. All right. >> You're going to You want to swing over here or you want to impressive and record. 005umpire, our headman Edward Snook, our line Charles, our backudge. >> All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Ashlin High School. Happy Thanksgiving. We're here at William Cunis Field, the plateau. A windy plateau. Very not the place you want to be right now. Hope you're all cozy in your homes and TJs or wherever you may be. Boca Raton. Um for the 101st Thanksgiving Day matchup between Ashley and Clockers and the Hopkins and Hillers. Clockers coming in at 8-2. Tri Valley champs. Hopkins Hillers a rough season for them. 2-8. Couple wins against Whand and Denim. Both teams that we shut out. So, uh we'll see. Ashland and Hopington both dealing with injuries and uh it's going to be an interesting matchup. Anything you want to add right there? Brian Sad. Oh, names. I'm Rob Silver. Brian Sad,
006welcome back on the >> Thank you. First thing I want to say, I've been waiting to say this for a long time. Good morning. Once a year, you get to say good morning for any uh high school sports that we're that we're broadcasting. Uh so I'm excited. As you said, Wendy, you know, I just saw the trophy >> RA. The trophy is kind of walking down over there, >> the annual trophy. So, >> got it. Got it. So, I'm excited, Rob. You know, again, eight and two versus two and eight. Two teams on kind of opposite, you know, tractions over here. I see our Ashlin boys are about to kind of walk in, but I'm exciting excited for this morning's game. Cold, windy. >> Yeah. >> I'm not sure who's playing the bag pipes, but
007I know in the past Tony Duke has done that. So, they got another person. It's a nice tradition as they walk up to the field. Uh since 2001, Hopington's won 18 of the 23 matchups. Clockers have taken the last three out of four. And more importantly at home, the Clockers have been stingy. They beat the last two times at home, they've won 43 nothing in 2021 and 35 nothing in 2023. And uh if you took a look at some of those Bobby Platinum lines that were put out somewhere for entertainment purposes only, you saw Ashland shut out open the week at 4 to one. Well, it's down to plus 250. So, uh you know, Ashlin obviously that's their goal to get a big win and a shutout. And just a little bit on the Hopington
008team. Uh we'll talk a little bit more about Ashlin, but Hopington looking they have a group of seniors leading the way. Evan Gronommire, Ryan Marin, they've been anchors up front on the lines. Senior linebacker Will Buchchet, one of the captains, led team in tackles, and classmate Liam Grady right behind them. On offense, according to coach Samborn and an article I saw in the Hopington Press, they've had to shuffle their lineup uh week to week based on injuries and uh seniors Ryan Lang, Alex Petoli, Patrice Petite Fraer, and junior Lucas Reed will be the four main parts of their offense. So, we'll see what happens. And uh big player to watch today for the Clarkers, Kevin Ozumba. Kevin Ozumba coming in 184 yards short of the 2,000 mark. So uh keep an eye on him. Number
00923, the orange cleats. Easy to spot. And nice article in the paper by Tim, I think it was Tim Dumis who, uh wrote the article in the Metro West Daily about him. And Kevin Ozima will be the first to tell you he couldn't have done it without all his teammates on the line and a lot of MVP TVL Allstars TVL MVP Kevin Ozima lineman of the year Alfredo Nato uh TVL defensive player of the year Nick Boomer and the other TVL Allstars Hugo Rossi Malachi Lambert Mark Murmurstein one of the captains who's injured been injured a lot of the season Isaiah Early and Pat St. Peter. Um, so >> yeah, what what I really loved about that article um about Kevin just was obviously it's a lot about with he has got 184 yards to
0102000 which is a incredible milestone. You know, at the pro level they're playing 161 17 games. At the high school level it's nine 10 games depending on playoffs. But what I loved is a lot of it was about his teammates >> and if he can make that milestone, he has a great shot today because of the wind. >> Besides watching Kevin, I'm curious to watch his teammates. Um especially those offensive linemen because a running back is as good as as the offensive lineman, the boys up front. And >> yeah, >> uh >> set a single game record this year with 334 yards in one of the games. Uh >> I think that was against Westwood. He also is averaging 9.78 yards per carry, which is phenomenal. And the the other thing that really you don't
011see, but because so many of the clockers wins this year have been blowouts, he hasn't played in the fourth quarter probably, you know, four or five of these games. So to accomplish what he's done is is pretty amazing. Um leads us to uh all all you viewers. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. I have a list of people I wanted to say hello to that may have t tuned in for the pregame. First off, my daughter Harley down there in in Bokeh. Hi, uh 2020 Ashlin High class graduate, member of the varsity softball team, varsity cheerlead, I'm still pushing to get you into the Ashland Hall of Fame. I will do whatever I can. and uh her mom and stepdad down there, Melissa and Tony. Uh and uh Andrea and Bruce, who uh her cousins down there
012that she's watching the game with, I think. And by the way, I also have a cousin Bruce in Bokeh. I don't know if that's uh you know, what are the odds of that? >> It's although I think a lot of people have cousin Brucees. Bruce is such a a common name, but uh >> Well, yeah, both in Bokeh. So, both in Bokeh. Then when I thought it through, I'm like, well, I am Jewish, so most of us have cousins in Bokeh. >> Yep. And then so it's probably actually more rare not to have a cousin Bruce in Bokeh if you're >> the question is are the delies open in Bokeh right now because there are some good ones you know >> Delray Beach when I used to visit my grandparents a deli and a Walgreens
013on every uh every corner over there. some of my uh other uh people to give a shout out to the obviously the Wacka family, Barbara Chisum, Paul Bowden, Jeff Hall who are with us here now. I want to give a shout out to Josh Abrams and Gabby, Chase and Logan. I'm sure you're watching at home. Hope things are well. Hope you have a good Thanksgiving. Chase, we expect to be watching you uh doing a Thanksgiving Day game 10, 15 years from now on uh CBS or whatever the channel of choice is. And real quick, Chase maybe so you or I are in the actually in the playoffs. So he I think is going to be I don't know if he's on the radio or on TV. I'm guessing on the radio on Saturday. Um so
014definitely tune in for that. I have uh a list of some other Ashland folks. My uh Ashland friends Dave Tracy and Joey Bowden and uh proprietor of Marathon Deli, the Ffields Doug and Meg Field and future clocker star athlete Gigi Field. Happy Thanksgiving. And uh we've had a lot of sponsors over the years. Uh today our gold sponsor 126 Self Storage and Ashland Townhouse Pizza. But we also want to thank some of the others that have supported us, Michael Campbell and family with Mr. handyman and uh Techniplex and uh the recently retired Clocker alumni fan, Carrie Turner, our friends at Subzero, Ashley and Al House and all the workers over at Marathon Deli. Happy Thanksgiving. Want to uh give a Thanksgiving shout out to girls basketball coach Pat Leslie and his newly expanded family. Hope
015you have a great Thanksgiving. Looking forward to an exciting uh upcoming season. Got to thank all our uh people that protect us here in Ashland. The at the town safety building led by police chief Carasi and Fire Chief Keith Roby. Shout out to all you do over there. Frank Maziello, one of the people I know personally there. Another couple alumni. I don't know if they're watching, but if they are, longtime friends going back. Ashlin Grads, Kerry and Rick Griffin over there on Myrtle Street. Happy Thanksgiving. All the fans down at TJ's, raise your glasses, do a couple shots, enjoy the game, and uh another good friend, Ellen Spencer, and the whole Spencer family. My friends up in Old Orchard Beach, Frank and Lauren Manorino. Best Airbnb you'll ever find. >> Rates are zero. >> Looking
016forward to seeing them at their son's wedding celebration. We get ready for the uh coin toss here. Captains Kevin Ozumba and Mark Marlstein for Ashland >> and for Hopington. Can you make out the numbers? >> I do. It's 59 and 50. >> Number five, Trevor Blind. >> Number nine. >> Is that number? >> I thought it was a nine. >> Maybe it's a nine. >> Yeah. Nine, Will Butcher. >> Oh Yeah. >> Yeah. I thought seven, Ryan Mormon, but I'm not sure if it's tough to see. Yep. >> And there's a lineman over there. Lineman always have that jersey tucked in. >> Yeah, >> exactly. Oh, we talked about some of the uh these Bobby Platinum lines. The game line 21 and a half. Ashland >> still 21 and a half. It didn't go up
017at all. Is is that as of um two weeks ago? Is that as of the stat? >> That's as of now. I think >> that's as of now. Okay. >> I mean, missing Nick Boomer. Our key injuries Nick Boomer and Mark Marlstein, but Nick Boomer a huge loss. We lost him in the uh playoff game against Danvers which was a win. Clockers uh successful season won the first round of the playoffs just overmatched against the Tukesbury team who actually is going to the Super Bowl facing Situit next week. So >> I saw that they they beat Canton I think um 357 or something like that. It's just >> they're they're they're I mean our boys played hard. And by the way, congrats to you and I think it was Paul and Jeff that actually made
018the trip over there. Just the three of you calling in the game and I wasn't sure if if WACA was going to have the game and all of a sudden I got the notification and >> it was fun. >> Yeah. fun watching you guys and listening and [snorts] >> sung by Gabby. [singing] What's so We held at the twilight [singing] last [singing] [music] [singing] proof through the [singing] night [singing] >> [singing] >> for the land of the home of Gabby, >> that was Gabby Illan. >> Yeah, what a voice >> on the mic. >> What a voice. What a great way to start off this morning with a national anthem from Gabby. I'm not sure I didn't catch the uh year if she's a sophomore, junior, senior, freshman, but uh >> that's strong and any
019you know any event you start with a national anthem like that with a student athlete. >> We have a host of talent in the uh >> we do >> the national anthem field. We've had Carolyn Diamond sing a number of times. Phenomenal. >> So, Hopkins kicking. Uh the wind, it seems to be changing directions because it was going from our left to the right and now uh which would put Hopping kicking into the wind. But I don't know. Right now, it's a little it's died down. >> Yeah, it looks just look at the flag. It looks like it's going from the left to the right, but it it is changing a little bit. So, we're starting right on time over here. >> Expect a lot of runs from this Ashland offense. >> All right. Who's
020that? Number 15 from Hopping Kicking off. Looked like a little squib kick. >> Nice bounce. Short hop. Oh, that's going to be trouble. Malachi Lambert couldn't field it. Bounces off his leg. Good start. >> So, oh, well, let's see because now they threw a flag as if it wasn't touched, but let's see if it was touched. picking up the flag. They talked it over, realized Malachi did get a hand on it. >> That was number 15, Nathan Dickinson on senior on Hopping with a good kick. All right, we have Ashlin. No time uh went by. We got 12 minutes, four quarters. >> I'm going to do my best. I know they're keeping stats down below, but try and keep >> track of Kevin Ozumba as he makes a play for the 2,000 yards on the
021season. 184 yards away. Start right with their gunk offense. And it is Ozumba finds a hole on the right side, which is it is his preferred side. Number 23 Kevin on the carry. >> You watch when when OMA gets the ball he tends to go to the right of the line. When they hand off to Lambert he tends to go to the left blocking. >> All right 10 yards. Here we go. Now we're down to 174 to go. >> That's his average. [snorts] >> So I know one of your the fun bets was how long the national anthem is. It happened so quickly. I kind of forgot to set the clock, but uh >> going to have to watch on the replay. Exactly. We will. >> So much going on. >> In addition to trying
022to keep our limbs moving up here. >> Again, we >> Rob and I were talking. It's It's chilly. It's windy. It's It It could be worse. Um it's it's not that bad. >> Now the wind's picking up a little bit. So >> can't believe you said it could be worse. You're like inviting like >> I know >> non-stop gale for >> especially after all the your family that's in Boer right now that's you know probably has air conditioning on >> Oh three for three another four yards >> yeah Harley called me at 7:30 >> great way to start the day she was out on a walk uh temperature was 71 and uh she's she's living in Tampa but she's As I said, visiting cousins, the temperature in Tampa at that time 67. >> First 67
023reference of the day. >> For us, we're in shorts. For them, those locals, that's a little chilly. >> Yeah. Yeah. Lambert gets the pitch >> as you were predicting. He's going left side. >> Yeah. >> Strong side. Left side over there. >> Picks up about four yards. >> Malachi Lambert. >> Yeah. Malachi uh unfortunately out for the game against Tugesbury. Another key injury that we just really uh >> really couldn't overcome. >> Got in a couple plays saw more on defense, but uh you know, you lose him as a as another key running back. >> Yeah, he's and he's a two-way player, but he's solid running back. Such a good compliment. Not to take anything away from Don Palanszi, who stepped up admirably in that role. Uh but it's just a different game. Lambert, as
024you can see there, just a strong back, >> seven yards, >> finding the hole. >> Great block over there by the Lumber. Nice little push. Little by little, 10 yards, eight yards. Moving along over here. I'm guessing the clock's going to keep on running. I don't expect a ton of balls in the air. No >> by the quarterbacks because of the wind and just kind of how their offense is, but you never know. >> Over under on pass attempts. Four and a half. >> So, I'm probably going under for that one. It is uh minus 200 on the under, plus 150 on the over. >> Yep. >> Always a lump on the pitch. >> Finds the hole. Look at him looking. >> Great block on the end. >> Incredible block. Who that by? Is that
025the >> Ben? Yeah. >> Yeah. Look at that. >> Kudos to Ben Athetherton. >> Get out there and lead the way. >> It's close to 10 yards as you can get without uh >> can't round it up. you know, and Ben doesn't have that, you know, very skinny, slim. He He's a big boy, so he obviously runs the ball a lot. A lot of muscle over there. Love seeing the QB throwing down some blocks. Great career for him as well. >> Yeah, he really uh >> there he is following that block, the lead blocker. >> Number 59 leading away over there on Ashlin. >> 69, I'm sorry. >> That one's going to be seven yards. 69 Leo Matteo. That's a sophomore on Ashlin leading that block. >> And a timeout as Hoffington's got to reassess
026what they're doing on defense as we've seen all year. Clocker's just able to uh take that ground game and run it will against anybody really. >> And you figure, you know, the opposing team, you know, it's no secret, but it's just a hard offense to defend. And it looks simple, >> but it's it's it's uh it's tough to defend. >> And plus, you need a good line, two good running backs. So, they kind of have the perfect storm over here. >> Yeah. And uh like we said in that article, Kevin Ozumba, you know, it's it's a all his uh accolades go to his uh his line. Pat St. Peter number 52, Alfredo Nato uh number 54. Malik, excuse me, Josh Lambert number 55. >> Joe Vanna number 63. We have number 69 in there. >>
027Yo, >> Leo, who you had called on that block earlier. Yeah, >> sophomore. >> And he had Nick Boomer and you know, obviously Mark Merlesson would have loved to been out there. Isaiah Early's also having a solid year. >> He is. >> That's why he TVL Allstar >> and they drew him off sides with the hard count. off sides >> and that's actually a lot of it is the uh the motion over there >> is sold by Kevin >> Oumb% >> flag I didn't realize I think Kevin also wrestles in the winter so he's uh just a great athlete so just you know I think as I mentioned in the when you and I did the first game just the instinct he has this young man on on the football field good kid as well
028>> yeah that's what I've heard from some of the teachers that I've run into. But >> that's number 55 Josh Lambert kind of playing that fullback position over there. >> It's going to Lambert >> blocking from Lambert. >> I think he threw the block. He's mad at his brother. [laughter] Lambert. >> Uh, >> Josh comes out. >> I do love the way they kind of call the plays over there. Got two guys usually helping out over there. Josh helping taking over for Nick Boomer again. Solid player, fullback, incredible defender. Wish him the best. I know his uh ski season's coming up for him. >> Back to Lambert left side. >> Gets to the outside. >> Tough to get down. Good tack over there by Ashlin. I thought that was number eight. >> They're they're stacking
029the right side and kind of forcing Ashlan's hand, but you know, Malachi Lambert is >> no slouch himself, so it's tough. It's the lesser of two evils. I guess >> it is. >> It's kind of like the uh >> And Lambert's broken a few long ones, too. He's got some speed. This time they go to Ozumba the other side. >> Oh, might have been a face mask, but mis call. >> That's one way to stop. >> Yeah. >> One yard. [snorts] >> Yeah. So, it's it's nice to be uh have you back up in the uh on the booth on the roof. We started the season at the home opener against Bellingham, which was a >> overtime win, which >> in hindsight probably built a lot of character game because that was a game we
030thought they should win easily. >> Yeah. >> Had some mistakes that they overcame. Ozuma to the left cuts up the middle, >> you know, between the left guard, left tackle in the center. Just had a nice hover there. But again, then then it gets up to the running back to find the hole, breaking, go upstream and, you know, south to north. So, good run by Kevin about two yards short. Third and one maybe. >> Yep. Third and one. >> Ashlin's obviously wearing the blue jerseys, white pants, and Hington white on white over there. >> Athetherton keeps it himself right up the middle. He's very adept at doing that. >> So many weapons from that offense. >> Again, Ben is doing a lot of the uh tough runs over there. Two yards. Have some great blocks.
031So, we got first and goal on the it looks like the seven yardd line. >> Yeah. >> Seven, eight yardd line. >> Any predictions over here? Who's who's getting the ball? >> I think Kevin gets it. as you're right follows his quarterback about four yards by number >> which is why Ben sometimes you see him limping because he's just not your typical quarterback. He's down there doing a ton of blocking. A >> lot of time off the clock. 520 to go here in the first quarter. Ozumba outside and into the end zone. First touchdown of the day. Happy Thanksgiving Ashley and Clockers go up 6 nothing behind the Wizard of Oz Kevin Omba. >> He's totally defing gravity right now. I guess >> nine carries on that drive for a total of 52 yards. >>
032Okay, >> about 132 left. Nice little TV uh TD um touchdown over there for Kevin. >> Aaron Wolf on for the extra point held by Athetherton. >> Good kick. >> Perfect. >> Yep. >> Nice and deep. Got a great leg over there. >> He does. Snap by Adam Wetski number 20. >> And a stronghold by our quarterback >> Ben. He's doing it all right now. Great way to start the uh you know let up about almost seven minutes or so. >> Yeah. >> Wears down the defense. >> Yeah. >> So uh one of the one of the fun lines that I saw Bobby Platinum put out was the Thanksgiving Day feast. Would five or more players score for the Clockers? So in the the back there, >> so I would take the under on that
033one. That's that's tough. >> Oh yeah. And that's why it's, you know, plus 5 to one probably should be higher minus 800 on the no. >> But my my thought process was >> or Bobby Platinum's thought process was I should [laughter] was uh you know it's Thanksgiving. You're going to want to try and get a lot of people involved if the score gets up there. Yep. Agree. >> And they uh >> can make some headway. So something fun. >> It's kind of like a the parlay in and of itself. >> Yep. So I like >> but that but that line is mispriced but that was should be 15 to one. >> You know there is a uh bet over there on the onside kick. >> Yes. Will there be a uh on uh onside kick
034fake punt >> that might go over. Oh good catch by number two on Huffington going right side. Found some space over there. Good little run back. >> Yeah. Oh and a flag. Might be a late hit or a hold. Maybe >> hold or late kick or a face mask. Is it only three? >> See over here. >> Illegal block. Okay. So I was wrong. All right. >> So get the first look from Hington. It looks like it's number >> 18. Was that number two on the return? It was number two. >> Yeah. Lucas Reed. Okay. >> Yep. >> So, I think it's 18. Connor Blind, I think, is the quarterback if I'm thinking that right. Sophomore. I tried to watch a little bit of game film last night against the Dery squad and I believe
035it was Connor that was uh in their sophomore quarterback. Threw the ball a lot. uh didn't have his best game, but he's just a sophomore and he's the name. Oh, fumble. >> First fumble. Here we go. >> Clockers think they got it. And it's Clocker Ball. >> Clocker ball. I I didn't see who got the hit, but >> wow, what a start for the Clockers. >> Early. >> Isaiah Earlyie. Great job over there, senior. wearing that nice right soft cast over there. Another wrestler >> sister had a really good volleyball career as a uh freshman. Won a couple awards this year. All right, so Hopp had a oneplay fumble. Going back to the offense, we got Ben leading away. Ball's going to Kevin. >> Falls over the top. >> Yeah, good job by the defensive
036line on Hopping over there. >> It's nice to see cheerleaders on both side. By the way, we see Hopington's obviously representing their their cheer squad. Ashlin as well. >> Yeah, packed house here at the high school. It's funny as you watch the the lineup because well now they're back to the other way but because they were stacking the right side they just switched Lambert and and Ozumba around the other side of the line. Now they're back >> and now they're back the other way. [laughter] >> I mean normally Ozumba will line up on the left side of the line. >> That is Ozima. What patience? Yeah, there was nothing there and then all of a sudden the hole opened up and >> looks like they're going to give him about seven >> seven yards. Okay,
037>> little by little, Kevin is working his way to that. >> I got to give him got to give him eight because he's a yard short between the two between the two runs both runs. Yeah, so it's nine yards. Um It's going to Lambert. Oh, great hole. Great job by the offensive line. Look at them. Keep on moving. >> Turning those legs. >> He's part of that file right there. >> That's team >> offense over there. Nice little push by our >> lineman. That was about uh 11 yardds. >> Yeah. first and goal on the two yardd line. >> Yeah, he looks healthy today. That's >> does look healthy. Yeah, he had a two weeks from the uh Tou game. And >> yeah, and he tried to come in on defense for a couple plays
038against Tou. I was surprised I saw his number, but you could see him limp off the field. His back was just killing him. Oh, Zumba with the ball. >> Oh, they're going to get a holding on the back field. Coach McKay >> not in agreement and the refs having none of it. >> Yeah, little little discussion over there. I'm guessing that's a hold from the uh back line over there. >> That'll make it uh >> it's probably be first and >> first goal. First and goal on the 12 yard line. Yeah, it was first down. That's right. personal foul. So clipping. >> Oh wow. Chop block. >> Oh no, by the offense by the defense. Okay, so that's a defensive uh chop block. So still first down. >> So now now we know what >>
039why. What's going He scored. >> Oh, he did score. Oh. They didn't change the uh they didn't change the scoreboard. >> So that was a lot of >> confusion. Yeah, >> cuz I never saw the uh arms go up. Okay. >> And the scoreboard didn't change, but it was a touchdown. Kevin Omba touchdown number two. >> Three yard from the three yd line. Extra point is good. >> But I understand now why coach McKay was so upset. You just don't need any injuries. >> Agree. >> And >> I highly doubt it's intentional. You know, bodies are falling all over the place. Nobody's out there to hurt anybody. >> So now I know. So basically the they're going to take the penalty to the yard and force it on the kick. So a little confusion because
040I never saw the refs actually put their put their hands up, but uh >> yeah, I agree. >> So three yard TD run by Kevin >> and there was no celebration. I know that's why >> it's Thanksgiving, so it's uh >> I do see a lot of the I'm guessing that's the Ashlin alumni over there on the right side by the 20 yard line. >> Yeah, >> I'm guessing. >> Take a look at flag. The flag's almost now it's blowing almost across the field. >> It is. >> So, this could be the fake punt. >> I was going to say the onside. See if they do the onside. >> Can't do this at the pro level with the new kickoff rule. No, >> no more surprises. Let's see. Great kick. A really good kick. That
041was deep to the three- yd line. >> Oh, good try by that was number 11. >> Good coverage by special teams. You know, they got him on under the 20. I think it's the 15 yd line. So, Hopkins going to have their second play of the first quarter over here. >> Yeah, that was Ryan Lang on the return for >> Hopkins. Another shout out to uh happy Thanksgiving to my friends up in uh Cape Elizabeth, Higgins Beach, Maine. Got my friends uh Casey Johnson >> watching from up there. I'm wearing his dad's socks. His dad gave me a pair of socks several years ago. My favorite pair of socks. >> He basically covers the south and the north. You got uh 70 degrees and probably 20 degrees up there in Maine. Alex >> gain about
042two yards over there. First uh >> positive play by the Huffington Killers. >> Game started today actually with the cross country run with the Hillers and the Clockers. >> Yeah, great great tradition. >> Really cool tradition. >> Now, I heard they they changed it. They don't go from the from the school, but they meet at TJ's >> and the game ball the two cross country teams meet. Brian is that >> so I got nervous because you were telling me about that and I thought the game starts when the ball comes here. I'm driving in around 910 and I see the cross country team running and >> I was like uhoh. >> So you sped up. >> I I got a little nervous. >> Well, you nicked one of them. >> I got a little nervous.
043I was like slow down a little bit. I saw coach Emily Riley taking some photos over there. >> Yeah. So, they deliver the game ball, the captains hand hand it off, they hand it off to the captains of the football team. >> Great tradition. >> Yeah. Comes with Blitz over there. Great job by Ashlin. Ezra Hatchet, up and cominging sophomore. That's a name you're going to hear over the next two years. solid breakout season by Ezra Hatchet. >> Yeah, >> because of the injuries to Mermlstein. >> Uh he started getting more and more playing time. >> Really made his impact on defense, but he's very uh he he'll be a key part of the offense as well. Try and fill that Kevin Oumba roll. >> So we have fourth down. Looks like obviously the Hillers
044going to be punting. That's number Wow. 40. Is that 41 or 11? Can't tell. I think >> I don't want to use my binoculars. My hands are in my [laughter] pocket. So, short kick. Kevin's going to let it bounce. Oh, a Hiller roll. Good roll over there. All right. Got a little close to one of the Ashlin uh blockers over there. >> About 36 yds net on the punt. Pretty good punt under the circumstances. >> Yep. It's all about the roll sometimes. >> It's like kicking a rock. It is so cold. >> 22 seconds to go here in the first quarter. Ashland Clockers leading on this 101st Thanksgiving Day matchup 14 to nothing over the Hillers of Hington. >> So Rob, what number is this for you for Thanksgiving games? >> I I it might
045be seven. Six or seven. Oh, and I didn't do that intentionally. 67, [laughter] but I don't remember. I know I've been announcing with uh WACA for 10 years. Started with basketball with Jake and Bob Thacker. Happy Thanksgiving to Bob who I saw Sunday at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The voice of Ashland for over four decades almost. Uh Kevin Oumba sweeping run to the left. Nine I think they'll >> maybe nine. You're right. Yep. That's probably the last play of the first quarter, >> but Bob would uh announce the games with another gentleman. I don't know his last name, Paul. But um and then I I filled in, he wasn't there one day, so I started announcing with Bob >> uh probably a year or two before the Super Bowl in 2019 season. Yeah.
046So [snorts] >> yeah, >> may I have your attention, please directly. One quarter in the books. We'll get a word from our sponsor watching Ashlin Thanksgiving Day football on WACA TV. We'll be back in a moment. 126 Self Storage is located at 162 Pond Street and is owned by Ashlin native Michael Kaine. Gated and fenced with 24-hour security cameras. They offer convenient drive up storage units for both your residential and commercial needs. Temperature controlled units and outdoor vehicle boat and RV storage is also available. Check them out at 126sto.com. And thank you to Michael Kane for being a great underwriter for WACA's coverage of Ashlin High School football game. >> Player three touchdowns. All right, welcome back to Ashlin High School William Cunes Field the Plateau. I'm Rob Silver with my partner today Brian S.
047You're watching Ashland Clocker varsity football here on Thanksgiving and the Clockers out to a quick 14- nothing lead. They have the ball and uh just into Hiller territory as we start the second quarter. Second and one into the win. Pitch to Ozumba. Finds a little hole. Does not go down easy. picks up another seven eight yards. Seven, eight yards. Two TDs in the first quarter. Grinding away. Looks like we might have an Ashlin injury over there. Hopefully, not sure who that is. That is our >> think. I think it's our quarterback. So, [snorts] >> one thing you don't want to see on this last game of the season, though, we hope he's okay. Tough kid. >> Really tough kid. We were talking about that earlier just >> yeah, >> you know, running the ball, but
048>> last person you'd think you'd see out there blocking in front of Kevin was the quarterback, but he was there. >> Huge part of Kevin success. So I know it talks about the offensive lineman, the quarterback, his teammate. So hopefully Ben is okay. >> Yeah, he's he's had a good season. >> Great season. Yeah. Um, you know, throwing the ball not it was not something he was asked to do. And when he did have do it, you know, it was always but he got it was always a little sketchy. But as the season wore on, he actually was thrown the ball really well. >> Uh but there were a couple games where maybe three games total where he threw the ball one time. Twice I know that was completed. One time there was a drop.
049We won't mention names, but um it was a perfect throw. And he's up, which is good. walking off under his own power. >> Little bit of a limp. So >> again, tough kid, Ben. Just >> so coming into the game is uh Mike Braden me who uh [snorts] >> will run this Gunko offense as well. You'll also see number two Owen Wolfram. >> Yes, there's two Wolves on the uh on the clocker roster. Number 13 Owen Wolf and Aaron Wolf, excuse me, and number two Owen Wolf. [crying] Braden me pitched to Ozalumba. Little head of steam. >> Oh, getting a little feisty. That's our quarterback Braden, too. So, I was going to say he comes in, hands the ball off. What does he do? Gives a great block over there. So, >> again, coach McKay,
050he you know, he asked a lot of of everyone that if you're playing in this game, you're going to be doing something. You're not just handing the ball off. You're blocking, you're contributing. So, it's a very disciplined offensive uh scheme that coach has and it works. Shout out to our cameraman down there on the field coming down into play, Brady Montino, and the rest of our crew today. Jeff Hall down below in the nice cozy confines. And uh Paul Bowden up here roughing it out with the big guys. >> Couple yards, maybe three. We'll see what he gets. Yeah, three yards. Kevin, >> I noticed Brady over there. He's not even wearing gloves. Look at that. >> No gloves for the guy on the field. So, >> not me. I got my mittens, couple gloves
051over here. >> Yeah, I have uh I have some gloves in here left over. They were They were Jake's. This is Jake's jacket. >> I do love that jacket, though. >> Yeah, >> still it fits you. >> His varsity jacket. I picked it up in in June when they were cleaning out the uh the wardrobe. So, I got this is I got some Patriots uh little gloves. God, he had small hands. [laughter] Braden meat on the keeper. >> Great run by our by our quarterback over there. Came in for the injured Ben. >> Three huge blocks >> and gets the first down over there >> on the stat board. first down. >> I I didn't even have him on my stat sheet for [snorts] uh for rushing yards, but uh >> we'll just add him
052in that space. He's up to six yards on the day. >> So, uh again, the the big number that we're looking for is Kevin Oz Lumba as he makes a push towards 2,000 yards on the season. And normally you see Kevin with at least one big long run where he just breaks it out. And >> I I think that's where they miss uh handoff to Lambert. >> Good run. Another run. Counter. >> That's where they miss Nick Boomer because Nick Boomer could really really open up some holes. Just a dominating force on the line. And if so's it's that kind of player that Nick brings where it's you're never going to see on the stat sheet. >> It's just all grind. >> Yeah. >> A lot of heart. [snorts] [snorts] >> So Ben's doing a
053Ben's See him kind of walking around. So no nothing major over there. >> Kevin with a nice run up the middle. >> Very patient. Another carry. >> Looks like he got about five yards. >> We'll do a quick >> I think that's Kevin's superpower where he's very patient. He kind of waits for that hole, waits for the blocks, and then just takes it up. So >> I have him at 94 yards right now. >> If that's true, he is literally halfway through. >> But like you said, yeah, the the big breakout run is where he's run up his stats so effectively this year. That 334 yard game he had a 76yd run and an 84 yard run on back-to-back offensive plays. Coach >> McKay takes a timeout. >> It's going to be a timeout by
054Ashlin. And the only reason he was able to get 334 was because because it was two play, you know, big plays at the end and they had he had already had 160 yards or so. >> Otherwise, they don't run up the score. They're not trying to embarrass anybody. You know, they want to get their second string in. Um, >> you know, because these kids work so hard all year long. >> You know, coach does a good job recruiting kids, >> you know, throughout their time here. Wants kids involved. you know, being on the football team, it's a lot of discipline, but it's it's all about teamwork and being good teammates. So, it's the grind. It's a long season. And, you know, for these seniors, for most of these seniors, this might be the last time
055they >> right put their put the pads on. >> Yeah. And when we get a second at the next break, I know you got the clocker roster up there. You have those seniors noted there. maybe rattle off some of the names and hopefully we'll get to see a lot of them get into the game that normally wouldn't get in, >> you know, if it was a playoff circumstances. But >> I think the the uh the goal is to maybe open up a big lead and when we get to the middle of the third quarter or so, you know, start working some of these folks in there. >> So, we're halfway through the second quarter over there. Pitches the lumber to Kevin. Shifty move picks up about six. >> Kevin couldn't tell who's that lineman that
056had is that number 70. >> Not sure if that was 75. Chris hard to see Kevin right now. That was 79. >> 79. >> Colin. Okay. Junior. >> What's [snorts] the last name? >> Uh Fabiano. >> Fabiano. >> Right tackle over there. Yep. >> Just eclipse the century mark on that run. Oh, breaks it to the outside. Diving for the corner. He gets in for touchdown number three. The Wizard of Oz with a hat-tick >> midway through the second quarter. Kevin Ozumba. >> And again, I think you know, great kid, great student. when he scores, he doesn't there's not a lot of emotion, you know. He just goes about his business. Doesn't want to show anyone up. >> How many yards was that run? >> That was about a sevenyard run, I think. >> And
057that play was dead. I mean, it kind of stopped and he just found the hole on the left side. >> That in wide left. Yeah, wide left. >> Wind uh caught it. >> Wind's going from uh >> right to left over there. So, had enough length just uh little left. So score 20 nothing. >> I hope this doesn't turn out like the uh the Cowboys game for the uh Eagles Cowboys. Well, >> well that was 21 nothing. So you know 20 Yeah, I know what you mean. >> But the three touch. [snorts] >> So our overunder for you >> I don't think that's going to be the case. Well 21 and a half was the line. >> Yeah. >> Our overunder for you to talk about the Cowboys, the Eagles or the Bears is five.
058So right there that's that's two. I think there's a TJ's drinking game that as many times as you mentioned the Bears, they gota every time you they got to do a shot down there. >> Well, hopefully they have someone driving because uh second half talk about the bet that Josh and I have a little bit later. >> There's no gambling. There's no gambling at Bushwood at the plateau. >> I know when it comes to uh jersey swapping. >> Yeah. Go down the field, do the jersey swap right after the game. We'll film it. >> Yep. All right, ready to kick off into the wind. Great time for an onside kick >> and oh, scoop kick. All right, >> into the void. See what happens. Fielded nicely by the upback. >> Good run. All right, good
059run by the upback. >> Looks like number nine. I couldn't tell. Let's see. >> You can tell me. We work together. >> Yeah. Number number eight. All right, that's number eight, Gabe. >> Oh, was that number nine? I thought that was number eight. It was eight. It was eight. Okay. Okay. Right. >> Yeah. Junior Gabe. I'm gonna mispronounce Gab's last name. Gthazo, wide receiver, Dback. And >> why are you going to mispronounce his name? >> Oh, unintentionally. >> Unintentionally. You >> unintentionally. Okay, >> maybe I got it right. >> Right. And so Hopington I think's had uh you know first play fumbled second play second um high snap number 11 nice hole over there. Wow >> had a hole but great defensive play. Is that >> was that Josh number one on the tackle for
060the Clarkers. >> Okay was Bansack. >> Bulans has had a nice quiet season. Yeah he's been asked to do a few things and he's done them well. He's I'll give the uh Connor Blend a little credit. That was a high snap and I mean he's a tall kid. >> Could have been a turnover. >> First pass of the day. Screen lateral >> defended well by the Ashlin Clockers. >> All right, so we got one throw. Is it the over under two and a half? It's >> or was that just for the >> for the Clockers? I just >> for the Clockers. Okay. >> I didn't know the the Hiller squad enough to uh >> Yep. put on any props on them. >> Sorry, third down. >> You know, quick shout out to our PI. I
061think that's uh Peter. >> Yes. >> Um cross country too as well. Didn't have to. >> Is it Goss? Peter >> Goss. Yeah, Peter Goss. Yep. >> He's done a great job. >> Really good job. First year just it's a tough job, >> man. In motion. Oh, great. Oh, what a job. Number 75. >> Yeah, great job by our defensive line. >> What we got there? Who's >> 75? That's Chris. Um, >> Chris Ba. >> Yeah, >> by and uh yeah, I think 63 Viana might have been on the tackle, too. But yeah, >> defensive line doing their job. One thing you notice about any offensive defensive lineman always wearing short sleeve shirts over there. No, no long sleeves. >> So, punting unit is in. They got the wind now. It's now going kind of
062across the field. Quick quick uh punt. Nicely done. >> Yeah. >> Being chased down, booted out of bounds. Oh, well, not booted out of bounds, but that's fine. That's perfect. >> Yeah, great job. You know, actually >> he was he was trying to recover it when all he had to do was slap it out of bounds. But >> actually, all he did was touch it, I Yeah, >> Gabe Kazo, good hustle. >> Good hustle. You know, Ashton, do you even have anyone on the uh returning? I think they were just more worried about the fake punt. And [snorts] >> even so, I don't think we even get that ball. That was a great punt. I missed the uh >> Oh, we Yeah, we we didn't need to get it. It was just a matter of
063uh >> if the ball's going to go out of bounds or not. >> Going to go in the >> in the end zone. >> So, 95 yards. If he breaks this one, we get him over the mark. >> Yeah, >> I'm just prefacing that right here. because we were talking about he has not had his big play over here and I don't think they want to pass even though >> Oh, okay. Braden's still in there. That's good. >> Okay, >> he could, but it's all about the running game. I think they as a team want to get him that record. >> Oh, Lumba. >> Not going to get it. >> No. Oh, a little uh little chippy over there. >> Two yard gain over there. Really no hole. Good job by the uh >> Yeah,
064Lucas Reed, I think it was number two, >> chasing him down. >> You know, one thing about the clocker's offense because they're running the ball, the clock just keeps on ticking away. So >> yeah, quick half. >> Very quick half, which isn't bad for the fact that we're getting a little chilly right now. >> Back to Kevin up the middle. >> Spins through those nine yards. >> Is that third down or did he get the first? Let's see. >> Okay, just shy. >> Just shy. All right. >> Yep. Third down in inches. What do you think if if he doesn't make it? You think he's going for it for on fourth down? >> Yes. >> Agree. >> See if they do. >> Keep it. He's going to keep it. >> Yeah, he's going to keep
065it. Yep. >> Great run. >> Got the first down. Three yards. >> As the sun comes out, >> warms up >> about a half a degree. I was going to say, >> but >> I think the wind picked up about two miles per hour, so it got colder actually. >> That puts uh backup quarterback into double digits on the rushing uh >> stats, averaging five yards a carry. >> Yep. >> Doing his thing, blocking, running, controlling the offense right now. Oh, we got uh first look at this offense. Spread offense. >> Spread offense over here. >> But it's Oza Lumba from the Wildat. Going to keep it. >> Good vision. AND HE'S >> HERE HE GOES. HERE WE GO. IS THIS IT? [cheering] >> Oh no, he's gone. Is this Is this the record breaker?
066It is. Let's see. [cheering] >> 82 yds for Kevin Oumba. Touchdown number four. I think that's it. by number 23 Kevin [cheering] 198 yards. He's over 2,000. He's over 2,000 with that rush. >> Over 2,000. Congratulations. >> 198 yards on the game. >> Incredible. >> Number 13. >> Four touchdowns. That's incredible. >> Double check my stats here. 9198. And that's a good kick by our kicker over there. I think he now has surpassed that 2,000 yards. Teammates are really cheering for him. Here we go. >> That is incredibly difficult. 23 Kevin has accomplished a 2,000 yard season. [cheering] 82 yards. >> That's good. We were saying this this could be the time >> that that was the good part about that kick being that punt being so effective. It gave him a long field to
067work with. >> You know what I really love besides we're talking about Peter our PA >> the cheering by teammates also by Hington. I mean, that's uh fans kind of acknowledging that feed over there. >> Great job by Kevin by the offensive line, the team. And we're back over here. >> You know, Rob, so you know, we're lucky enough we're on the roof, but we have the coaches over here with us. >> A lot of pride by the coaches, the smiles knowing about that. Uh, huge accomplishment. So, congratulations to Kevin again. Glad I dug out this little statue. I use this for basketball. >> Yeah. Yep. >> And I as you see field goals, threes, free throws. I'm like, "Oh, this will work." >> That's why That's why Rob Silver, besides Josh, our OG, he's
068uh he might get a little frosting over here with his hands, but you were tracking those yards. So, we have 27 nothing, a little over three minutes left in the first half. might try and pass the ball over here. Ball's going deep. Nope. >> Good defense by number 21. That's Blake >> Brennan. 21. >> Was he on that roster right there? >> He is. So Blake. Yeah. >> Yeah. Cuz I had an older roster. He wasn't on there. And then uh >> he was the no name for whatever reason. It's just I think on one of the rosters, but uh great job by Blake [snorts] Senior. Incomplete pass stops the clock. >> We're looking for short completions. >> Keep that clock runs. >> Yep. So again, I think that is uh sophomore Connor number 18,
069Connor Blind. And we have a timeout over here by Ashlin >> Hopkins. Oh, Hopkins. Okay, I saw the ref kind of commemorative program for only special commemorative program being purchase. >> This is a chance to thank our uh gold sponsor 126 self storage and Michael Kaine. It's that time of year you got to put your uh extra car in the storage they have uh all year round. >> Yeah. >> Inside outside storage facilities. Wouldn't really have an outside storage facility, would you? But I meant temperature controlled. >> Temperature control. Yep. >> Again, huge thanks again to our sponsors. And yeah, what would outside be under a tarp? That really probably wouldn't work. Agree. >> Yep. When I say something stupid, I'll [laughter] I'll be the first one to acknowledge it. >> So, definitely looking at
070a pass right now. We have uh five receivers. See what Connor does. >> Second and 10. >> Comes the blitz >> under heavy pressure. >> Heavy pressure. >> Hit hard. broken up by Malachi Lambert, passing tender for number four, >> Liam Grady. >> Yeah, Ezra Hatcher was in there huge. Yeah, big time. And in that playoff game against Danver, that was what he did uh to at the end of the first half. got in there just enough to influence the quarterback's throw which led to a Kevin Ozumba 95 yard touchdown interception return. >> I remember that. Yep. >> But it was Hatchet that created that. Number six going in motion over here running the ball. Oh, quarterback sneak. Yeah, >> but look at the clockers just chase him down easy there. Hugo carries him out
071of bounds. Hugo Rossi. >> Smart play. Hannah wrapped up. And >> so let's see if if Hton's going to punt the ball or go for it on fourth down. Fourth and 10. >> I'm guessing they're going to go for it. >> Yeah. Four. Fourth and four. Yeah. >> Fourth and four. >> Long three. Scoreboard says three. Here we go. Not said fourth and 10. That's why it confused me a little bit. >> Oh, you were you looked up quick. You didn't give him a time. >> I didn't give him a chance >> to reset. >> Yep. >> That's okay. It's okay. >> All right. So, we got five receivers over there. I'm sorry, four. We got the running back. Two of Connor does. He's just going to try and draw him off sides. Nope. >>
072Quick pass screen to number six. Drop off. So, >> it's a turnover on downs. Lambert had him dialed in anyways. Even if he caught it, >> wasn't going anywhere. >> Six on six. >> The clockers take over leading 27 nothing. 214 to go in the half. The goal number one for the Clockers of getting uh Kevin Ozimbo over the 2,000 yard mark has been met. It's going to open up the offense a little bit. Have a little more fun. They don't have to focus. There's no doubt that was there. >> 100% 100% key goal. >> Hugo Rossi here at the bottom of the screen. Number four. Um and we do have uh >> looks like they're doing a wildat. Yeah, the wildat again. >> Back sneak. We have a flag. Two flags. >> Usually there's
073some movement or did somebody get over the line quick? I did see a Hiller in the back field fairly early. >> That's a bad job by me. I'm just looking at Kevin to see what he's doing. Nope. >> Too many men. >> Is it too many? >> I didn't I don't know. >> Substitution. >> Oh yeah. >> Quasi substitution. I quasi too many men. Yeah. >> Yep. >> Substitution. >> Penalty. You don't hear that often. >> Yeah. The substitution. >> Yeah. >> That would have been an interesting fun bet. A prop bet over there. >> Yes. >> So Kevin still in the Wildat. He's going to run the ball. Good fake up the middle. >> Short gain over there. >> Short gain of five yards. >> Five yards for him. For him it is. >>
074Yeah. That's under his average. Did you say >> 9? 9.7 inch or two. >> I'm on the second row. >> Second row now. >> If the metric is 9.8, anything under that is a short gain. So unless it's a >> short gain relative to him. For him. >> Yes. >> Back to the Wildcat, I think. Yep. >> Should be four yards because it's second to one. Malachi Lambert. >> Look at those run. Look at that Hulk from cutting left to right. Great job. Yeah. Yeah. floats over a couple defenders for another three yards >> from the 30 down to the uh 12 yd line. 18 yds for Lambert. You know, saw that nice gap between the uh tackle and the guard over there on the left side going back to the Wildcat. [snorts] >> Lambert
075again >> up the middle. Great blocking. >> 10 yards, maybe 11. a carry by number Lambert. >> So, what did you say the last game two years ago? Was it 33 nothing? >> Uh, or >> check our stats. It was 35 nothing. >> Trying to um >> probably won't happen if they score it because I'm guessing they just try and kick the ball. But [snorts] >> yeah, they could try and have some fun. >> Could go for it. And then back in 2021 it was 43 43 nothing. >> So we have a timeout >> with 30 seconds left. Clockers do take a timeout as they'll >> strategize to get the uh final final touchdown before the half ends. >> So you think it's going to go Kevin? You got Lambert. You could do a um
076Braden get the ball. What do you think? Um, >> I think they go to um I'll tell you who it's going to go to. You tell me. >> I'm I'm guessing it's going to to number six. >> Absolutely. Yeah. >> So, definitely [snorts] seems like they're trying to get him. Looks like uh quarterback number three, Ben's [snorts] trying to get back in the game >> coming off that injury. And I think they'd like to get him in the game so he might be able to throw the ball. Get Hugo Rosi involved. >> Hugo Rosi involved. Y >> and maybe uh number 13 Aaron Wolf >> has been on the receiving side of the ball >> a few times this year, >> but like I said, haven't been a lot of targets, but he has did
077catch a pass in one of those uh games against Westwood or Norwood, I think it was. >> Ben's coming in. So Ben and Braden are in the game. So this is interesting. Got both our quarterbacks. >> They will have Braden in there um often with Yeah, exactly. as a blocker with their spread offense >> eye formation. Okay, >> so there goes my uh prediction. Number six. I don't even think he's in the game. >> They might go number five over here. >> Lumba. >> All right. >> Great tackle by Hopkins. >> Really good tackle. Really good tackle. Hugo Rossi getting a little blocking over there playing till the Wer comes. Yep. >> He's got some aggression to take out. He's very uh passionate kid. Yep. >> Yeah. >> Good basketball player, >> but [snorts] he's
078usually very very controlled. >> So, hey, no flags. He's just playing hard. >> So, they got to run this play over here. 12 seconds left. >> Nine eight seven Athetherton keeps it. pulls his way into the end zone for the clocker. >> Good job by Ben. >> Touchdown >> and a 33 nothing lead. >> Yeah. >> To finish the first half and have the kick right now. >> Big Ben. >> Good for him. >> Parliament. Big Ben. Parliament. >> Big Ben. Yeah. >> You know that movie >> from um what a vacation movie? >> European vacation. Pig and a poke. >> So I'd have to say that's my third favorite of the vacations. point after >> my second I not a Christmas vacation guy. I didn't mind Vegas actually. Um >> I forgot about >>
079actually not I didn't >> Christmas I didn't mind Vegas >> and Wolf back on track makes it 34 nothing at the half. That is the end of our first half. >> So the half comes to an end and it's been all Ashland clockers leading 34 nothing behind four touchdowns by Kevin Ozalumba as he broke the 2,000 yard rushing mark for the season. Ben Athetherton just followed it up with a touchdown there. Um, I don't know what to expect on this uh this second half, but it's been very impressive. Kind of what we thought, Brian. >> Yeah, you know, I I'm not sure how much Kevin's going to play in the second half. I think you mentioned I'll probably get a bunch of some of the other players in. Very dominating play. The offense just run
080by Lambert, Kevin, Ben, Braden. Um, great defensive playing making it tough on this young Hiller team. Yeah, >> you know, I'm I'm excited that Kevin hit that milestone in the first half and we were saying he had a lot of yards over there. 82 yard touchdown, four TDs, >> just a great perfect perfect game. So, >> yeah, I think what we'll see is maybe a couple, you know, couple more runs by Ozumba, try and get Lambert to touchdown if they can preserve the shut out. That's big. >> I think that's big. And uh you'll see some of these other uh players come in. Maybe Owen Wolfram and then um Don Palanszi, maybe get Ezra Hatchet involved. See if we can get a touchdown score for him. >> Uh but you know, got to give Hogington
081credit. They're playing hard. They're underst under man. They got a lot of injuries. Um, so I mean, Coach Mccay is not going to do anything to run up the score, but he's not going to let the, you know, the backups not play hard, you know. >> Agree. Agree. >> So, uh, leave it up to them. All right. Well, you're watching WACA football here. Rob Silver with Brian S. We're at halftime. About 11 minutes to go. Going to take a break. If that is your ticket number, please box to receive your award. Thank you. >> [crying] >> That scar. All right. >> [music] >> Are we uh >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> All right, everybody. Welcome back to uh second half action here at Ashlin High School. Happy Thanksgiving. Watching uh the spirited matchup. Unfortunately, Ashlin all the spirit. 34 nothing. I say unfortunately if you're a Hill fan. So, 34 nothing behind the offensive explosion by Kevin Ozalumba as heclipsed the 2,000 yard mark, not for the game, but for the season. Four touchdowns. Ben Athetherton with a late touchdown. It's been all clockers. I'm Rob Silver. My
085partner here, Brian Sc. Uh Brian, I just wanted to give a quick shout out. My daughter Halley Silver has tuned in from Bokeh and we got a quick weather update. 78 degrees and sunny in Bokeh. Hie, just so you know, it's about 42 degrees, maybe 45 here and quite windy and sunny. >> Yeah, it is sunny. >> We we still have the same sun, but it is the the wind chill is probably >> 21 degrees. I don't know. It's it's it's definitely a little chilly over here. So, I'll reiterate the uh the happy Thanksgiving to Hie and uh your mom Melissa and Tony. Tony's your stepdad, not your mom as well. And your cousins Andre and Bruce and um Oh, yeah. If Francine's there, happy Thanksgiving to Francine, my ex-mother-in-law, the outlaw. And um yeah,
086hope you guys are having a great Thanksgiving. It's been a uh dominating performance by the clockers here. Oh, shout out to my brother Brian Silver. He's watching. Stephen Marx, the former athletic director watching and uh happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and all the great things you're doing with LClusion. Pretty impressive how that's taken off. So, congrats on that. Hope you have a great day. George Tubin, one of our co-announcers here as well, texted me. He wanted to give me uh an update. I was wondering why I hadn't seen Owen Wolf from number two uh in the lineup at all and he injured his hand recently and had surgery. So, George Tubin always like in the no as far as these injuries and stuff and appreciate that update. So, and happy Thanksgiving to George.
087>> George is like that sideline reporter that somehow knows what's going on before they even know what's going on. So, >> yeah. And he's also telling me that Hopington has several key players out with injuries as well, >> which we did. Yep. >> Which we did uh bring up, George. So, obviously, you haven't been watching the whole game. I'm a little offended by that, but we'll we'll get over it. We can bend those uh fences. So, >> yeah. All right. So, we have Aaron Wolf kicking it off to start the second half. Nice boot going about the 10 yardd line or so. It's a kick return by number two in Hopington. Is >> that Reed? I believe maybe. Shout out to uh my Hopping poker buddy Al Sanderson and the gang is there. Uh I
088don't think they're playing, but he did uh tune in. Oh, unfortunate a little injury here. Number 24. >> That is Nick Heaton senior. Hopefully he's okay. That's how you get your name called on the uh on the air. You go down with an injury injury. Hopefully, >> hopefully nothing serious. >> Looks like uh getting up on his own. Yep. >> Be a bruise, a hit to the thigh or something. Bruised ego maybe. No, just that's not That's not That's [laughter] why why would you go there? Why would you do that? >> I I do like the cleat. He's He's supporting those nice green cleats over there. >> Number 24. Favorite number. >> Favorite number. Ezra Hatcher for us, but that's uh that's Jake's number. Oh, Jake was 24, too. >> No, but that was his
089birthday. So, 24 is his number. >> Gotcha. >> All right. So, Colin is uh under under the uh >> hill over there. >> Pass. Oh, >> Kevin. >> Pick six. >> Wow. >> Touchdown number five. The Wizard of Oz. What can't he do? >> Oh, Peter Goss. Peter just >> using the Wizard of Oz call. First time ever. I love it. >> Defining gravity, Kevin. I mean, what a game. What a career. >> You were talking about earlier he had that nice pick six. >> Yeah. 95 y playoff game. >> I mean, this was only a 20 yard, so it's not as dramatic, but uh wow, what a what a game. Good for Kevin. So, let's see. Uh Aaron Wolf going for his sixth kick. Pat that is right down the middle. >> Five for
090six. >> Not pretty but effective. >> Yeah, he normally boots it but uh >> you just got to get it through. >> So 41 to nothing. >> So interesting. Unfortunately the way Hton started the first their first drive in the first quarter fumble. First play in the second quarter or that might have been the uh second play of the second half. Pick six by Kevin. >> Thanks. Wow. Two pick sixes of the year for Kevin. >> Yeah. Two in the last three games. >> Hie down in uh while you're down in BO with Mana and Andrea. >> Mom. Oh, that's you guys can get a uh Majon game going. You got you got four people, right? >> That's what you do. >> Have you played Majan before? >> I have not. >> I I tried
091it a couple times. It's not my game. >> Very confusing. >> Lucas Reed, nice run up the right side. >> Gets over the 30 yd line up to the 32 33. You >> know, I think for the Hillers, I think that's been their most explosive plays have been those kickoff returns. All right, Hill's going to try again. This is their second drive of the second half. >> Now, it's worth pointing out again the quarterback for Hopington dealing with, you know, an understaffed >> team, a young team. He himself only a sophomore. So, a lot of growing pains and you know, probably come back and they'll beat us next year. We'll see. >> We'll see. Good job by Jack Mulans to shed the t shed the block and make the tackle. >> Great job. Great pursuit.
092He just kept them going, >> you know, going to, you know, east to west and uh great pursuit by number one Jack Blueens Jr. >> Great tackle. >> Just a great overall performance by this young clocker team. >> Shout out to uh Allie's dog, Pippa. Pippa, if you're watching, >> hope you're enjoying the game. >> So, did you say your brother's Brian Silver? >> Yes. Another BS. >> Another BS. That's all. You beat me to it. >> Yeah. >> It's all BS for you, buddy. >> Yeah. Can't get away from it. >> Can't get away from it. >> Proud of it. >> I I was a I was an auditor back in my day and uh you know, when you're signing off, you have to you know, use your initials or like you want to
093use BS or BS. I was like, I'm going to use BS. I want to make sure 20 years later they know the one that signed off on that was all BS. So >> it's funny when I cuz when I put you in my phone and you both come up, you come up, you know, with BS. >> BS. That's right. >> I don't have a photo of you. >> It's cuz it's all BS. >> I don't need it. Don't need it. >> I have a photo in my mind. >> That's all you need. >> Clockers, excuse me, trying Yeah. Well, Clocker is trying to prevent the Hillers from their first first down of the game. It's third and three here. >> Looks like they're going to try and pass again. got their >> good pursuit by
094number 24 Ezra Hatchet all over him. >> Backside pursuit. >> Yeah, sophomore number >> Ezra just missed him. You know, had a nice little hit over there. >> Making his impact. Is that fourth down? Fourth and three. And looks like they're going to pump the ball. All right. This time it's >> put the ball into the wind. >> 41 for Hopington. >> So Devin >> Deon Morris >> Morsy. All right. >> Yeah, he's the one that's been kicking. >> Nice punt last time with the wind. Pinned them down to the five yd line. [cheering] >> Calling for fire means get away from me. >> Get away from me. Yep. >> Into the wind. Knew it wasn't going to be anything too uh effective. 1121 28 yds net on the kick. >> Yep. >> Clockers take
095over at their 33 yd line. >> That ball's >> Oh my god. This is the magic. Allie, >> if you're watching, >> this is the magic touchdown number. If they score here, it's a 67 yard touchdown play. >> I think that's my fourth 67 reference. Valley. Way overdone. I don't even know what it means. I don't care. >> Hey, you know what's happening tomorrow, right? Wendy's Frosties. 67 cents. Frosties. >> Really? >> Those are That's my weakness. >> I usually get them for free on the app, but I'll pay 67 cents. >> Kevin Om, the Wildat. Hands off to Hatchet. >> Runs into two hillers. >> Sweep by number Hatcha hasn't had a lot of runs for at this game. He made a nice little defensive impact >> on the prior drive from Huffington. >>
096Hatchetic gets back to the line of scrimmage. Gains a yard almost >> for Kevin right now is calling the plays. Going back to the Wildat. >> Has Kevin thrown the ball this season? I I don't think so. I don't remember. Maybe on the right. >> Excellent question. He may have quarterback sneak good play by the defensive line. >> Still some positive gains. >> So Kevin, five touchdowns >> over 200 yards. >> Hit that 2,000 milestone. [snorts] Every play has been positive. grinding it down. >> 202 yards in the first half. >> 202. That's unbelievable. >> Quarterback sneak >> sheds a tackle. They got him this time. >> Congrats to the Hopington Hillers. >> I might have just jinxed this. >> So, it's going to be fourth and three. >> Fourth and three. I'm guessing we're
097going for it. >> I'd be surprised if they punt the ball over here. Olli Laro is in the game. >> Who is the punter? I >> mean, you don't you don't want to run up the score. There's no real need to go for it. But >> I just think because they're on the 42 yd line, >> but again, you just want to get as many plays in there as you can. So, why not? >> And keep keep the clock running. So, >> yeah, >> two yards. Nothing wrong with going for it. >> Nope. >> Ozumba keeps it, looks for a hole. He finds it and >> scoots ahead for five yards and a first down. >> He was hit right by the uh >> on the, you know, right on the fourth and two. So,
098gain those yards spun around. >> Get those legs moving. >> It's part of a good running back. Just keep those legs chucking around. >> [cheering] >> So Josh Abrams watching from home mentioned uh he liked the catty shack reference. Trying to remember I know >> I I I vaguely remember. >> I'm more of a happy Gilmore guy when it comes to golf. Another number. >> Didn't love the sequel, but uh I I like it. Didn't love it. >> What are your thoughts if you're if you're in a uh you're going with a group of people >> for some >> and there's a fifth guy. Do you do you and and you're the fifth guy and they ask you, do you >> decline [snorts] because you know you're the fifth guy, it's going to screw things
099up and say, you know, a last minute invite or do you just say, "Oh, yeah, no, I'll go." I I I'd say I go because golf is golf and maybe we I I try to find maybe someone else. >> Okay. >> I would never deny golf. >> All right. I like that. >> Yeah. >> Passionate. >> Nice pass. >> He was waiting for a touchdown. He is. [cheering] >> Oh, so close. Great job by number two on the on the Hillers with that tackle. Lucas, >> what a run up the middle. Oh, they got him down at the 10. That's weird. I thought he was further than that. 42 yards on the carry for Malachi Lambert >> up the hole. Great job by that offensive line. >> I know he wanted that one. >> Needed
100to high step it or something. >> Yeah. Oops. >> Lost we lost our volume here. >> I don't know if they can hear us. Yeah. Now we're back. >> Are we back? Okay, we're back. >> We're back. >> Someone hit the switch. >> Yeah, I think the fans had enough of the small talk. >> Oh, okay. >> Got it. Okay. >> Oh, my my mic's in my mouth, so it's not supposed to be in the mouth. >> All right. Yeah. >> Pick up of uh three yards. Who was that? >> Oh, Lambert. I think >> Lambert. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, second and go over here. We have a 41 nothing just halfway through the third quarter. Lambert with a great 40 plus yard run up the middle trying to get his first TD of
101the game. If this was a uh tie game playoff performance, I'd say it's a gutsy performance by Athetherton as he's limping in there. But obviously he knows he doesn't have to do too much, but I give him credit for coming back in the game and trying to put his stamp on it. Pitch to Lambert. The senior tries to get a touchdown here on Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Day. They stuffed him two yards. >> Yep. >> All right, third down over here. I'm guessing we're in fourth down territory right now unless they go for the kick. >> Yeah, [snorts] Ben's looking over there. He's uh you know, he has a ton of heart on this team, honestly. >> Yeah, I play I think the thought process is you get Lambert his touchdown and then >> like I said,
102>> Yep. let the uh rest of the class >> play the game. So, >> this is an interesting I haven't seen this kind of offensive scheme right now. We got uh >> it's Lambert. >> Lambert going up the middle blockers. >> And he might be short. Yeah. Fourth and one. >> Is he not in? >> Fourth and one. I'm guessing it's going right back to Glambert. >> Five yards. That was close. >> Coach McKay fig out how he wants to run this uh fourth down and one over here. >> It's got to go to Lambert. >> Yep. >> Number 20's coming in. >> Brady Montesino, our cameraman, got a good angle down there on the field. >> See him? He's running. He's uh he's getting his steps in over there. >> Paul Bowden handling all
103the shots here from the roof. And uh the director Jeff >> Hall going out deep snap. It's Lambert. And this time he's in. >> He is in. Great run up the middle. Malachi Lambert senior. Great career. >> That's what they were going for. >> Have a little discussion with the ref right now. >> Good run. Good call by the coach. So, we got 331 to go in the third quarter. The clockers now 47 to nothing. >> Pending this extra point. Extra point is good. 48 to nothing. >> I think he heard us last time when he said the kick wasn't as long. He booted that one. That ball and boot went >> Well, the last one was definitely a misit. It was uh >> it was up the middle but just not as uh not
104as hard. So we are 3 minutes. It looks like the clock is going to run right now. I thought that >> it's going to be running running time >> anytime. I think it's over 30 something points or 35 maybe. >> Okay. >> Oh, Glocker pretty much set out to do what they uh wanted. Yeah, >> great offensive game. Lot of new numbers coming into the game. We'll do our best to kind of uh >> Yep. >> announce some of the players over here. >> It will be uh you know the kick will be Aaron Wolf >> very busy. Aaron Wolf's had a very busy game right now. Pats. So I don't think we're going to hit your the on-site >> right prop. I think that one is definitely uh not happening unless Hopington scores. >>
105You can't. I I I would cringe if they tried an onside kick here. >> I I I do not expect any onside. See See if he gets the ball to the 10 yardd line. >> The back. >> Yep. >> About the Yeah, 10 yard line. >> Lucas Reed fielded it nicely. He's had some nice run backs >> and again he's going against the strip. >> Clockers say they got it. Hington. >> That might be the jinx of a >> fighting under the scrum, but he he saw the daylight and he turned it over. Great job. Clocker stripping it away and they just continue this annihilation. >> This may come back to haunt them. >> I know >> maybe not next Thanksgiving, maybe the one after. But at some point, but but like we said, you
106know, when you have the second string in there, they're going to play hard. Yep. This is their Thanksgiving Day game. This is their swan song for so many of these kids. >> And you can't just take the foot off the gas pedal. >> Nope. >> you know, if you do, bad things happen. So, you you play hard. >> Yeah, that's another great point. You do you get you get injured, you're not focused, you just >> But um into the game number 20, Adam Wetski. I know you were going to rattle off some of the names. Uh >> junior, [snorts] >> let's see if we can identify some of these players over here. >> Ezra Hatchet on the sidelines here talking to the coach going in. Number 50. Who do we got? The number 50. >>
107Number 50, we got Nick Borges >> senior. And a timeout as the Cockers look to figure out the offense they're going to put out there. >> Ashlin >> and that does stop the clock. So 29 seconds to go. >> 48 nothing. I have not seen a fivehandle on the scoreboard. I I don't know if I ever have to be honest with you. It's very possible that happens today. So I think that's four turnovers for Ashlin. I know a fumble the first play we had a pick six um fumble right there on the kickoff return I thought there was a fourth I might be wrong and there was actually on on down so I mean that technically it's a turnover maybe that was the fourth but great defensive playing good scheming coach McKay just finds his
108magic ever since he came on to be the Ashlin coach obviously we had our world our super bowl that 2000 was 19. >> Yeah. >> So cool to see to see uh uh Craft when he did his little announcement and just >> his recognition, you know, there's what, six, how many divisions? Six or seven. >> Yeah, I think they had eight games. >> Eight games and just specifically said that's the game he wanted to watch. So really cool. >> All right, so we have let's see, number eight, Dom Palanzi. Braden me back in quarterback. Palanszi on the pitch. A face mask not called, but that's okay. It's another positive gain about a one or two yard. >> That will take us to the end of the third quarter >> with the clockers up 48 to
109nothing. >> Yeah. as coach McKay >> beckons his team to the sidelines as we go to triple0 >> going to change field change sides of the field not a long walk so that's that's a positive >> give us a chance again to thank our sponsor all season long townhouse pizza roast beef thank you so much for feeding the crew and 126 self storage. >> Oh, the cheerleaders. We didn't rattle off the names of the cheerleaders. How quickly can you do that? >> All right. Are we going to a break or >> You can do it quick. >> Okay. We got our cheerleaders again. If I mispronounce the names, we got Isabelle. >> I've read them before. You are. >> You can go ahead and do it. >> We got the chair roster. Isabelle Barbados, Sha
110Brogen, Bin Carroll, Claudia Coniglio, Isabella Delgado, Gina Dibazo, Alice Cornitkaya, McKenna Murray, Sophia Pin, Isabelle Ryan, Elizabeth Surlo, Natana Thomas Hannah Wallenstein, and Nora Wilkinson. Thank you for supporting this team all year. And do we have the coach there? Coach Hannah Connors. >> Hannah Connor, >> she's been doing this forever. I remember she was around when Hie was a cheerleader. >> Hie, I'm still making the push. I told them making the push to get you into the Ashland Hall of Fame. >> So, as the everyday Hall of Fame athlete >> now, Hie normally does a at least a basketball game or two. Is she going to come down, come up? >> I don't know if it's in the WACA budget, but they may fly her up for a game. Hopefully, uh we'll see what uh
111her schedule looks like in January. >> It's going to be cold, so I know she's used to the warm weather over here. Ezra Hatchet. >> Good positive gain. He's not going down. Wow. They had him stop with a five yard gain. He just kept on going. Is that a first down? >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Peter. Our great uh PA announcer over there doing his thing. So, we have number five Braden Braden me senior running the plays right now. Got Malachi Lambert at 119 yards on the day after that big rush. So nice job [snorts] by him. 119 and a touchdown. Braden me with a little spin keeps it. >> What else do we have out there? Let's see. We have number 79. Uh Colin Fabino Jr. >> 57 over there. We have David
112Yapowski, no senior. >> Trying to get some of our our offensive lineman, the the unsung hero of any football team. >> Number 72 on the roster there. >> 72. We have Jack Callahan, senior. You know, one of my favorite number 72s of the Chicago Bears. >> Oh, the fridge. Was that >> the fridge? Yeah, they they have a new documentary on the Super Bowl Shuffle. >> Oh, >> and who do we beat 30 years ago? The Patriots. The Patriots >> might have a Super Bowl Bears Patriots this year. >> Ezra Hatchet going wide. >> Yeah, >> good job keeping his balance. He was banged around a couple times, picked up eight yards, first down, >> keeping those legs going. >> It's funny, we started the game. >> Uh we we did the first game like
113we said, >> first home game and at the time the Patriots were 0 and one and your Bears were 0 and one and you were in a panic. I said, "It'll be fine. they'll they'll these teams will be fine. And I couldn't have been more prophetic with my comment at the time. I didn't think they'd be this fine. >> Yeah. No one predicted that. I mean, Patriots lost to the Raiders, I think, and Bears lost to >> the Minnesota. >> Minnesota, I think. Yeah. >> JJ, >> well, did uh my brother did have them winning the division in a futures way. >> All right. BS, man. I love it. He's That's [snorts] no BS. Don Palonz bounces off tackler his own team. >> That's a gain though. Gain of a yard, I think. >> Yeah,
114keeping the yardage. Haven't had a negative play all game. That alone is a uh >> feather in the cap. >> See, I see number 66 as well. That's Vinnie >> Terzano uh senior offensive guard. Trying to see some of our other offensive linemen over here. Where we're positioned. Tough to see. I have the binoculars. >> Oh, do you? >> Okay. Well, >> I just can't. >> Okay, there I see 65. Cooper Ganks Jr. >> Me fakes the pitch. Keeps it himself going. >> Bulls himself forward down to the uh 15 yd line. Pickup of about nine. >> See number 50 over there playing until the whist >> Nick Bourge senior. 65. We got uh Cooper Gronk. I mentioned Junior >> Braden me up to 22 yards. What was the overunder? I think I had uh
115hold on on not me because I didn't even think he'd be rushing >> for TDs. >> No, for uh I'm going to look rushing yards for >> Oh, rushing yards. >> Uh for Hatchet. >> Me keeps it, gets the first down. Maybe total of three. >> Number 60, Adams coming in. Junior >> rushing yards. Hatchet at 25 and a half. He's almost there. [snorts] >> Lambert, I had him at 99 and a half. He went over with that big uh rush. >> Yep. >> Ombi had at 170 and a half. >> Wow. 170. Wait, in the half or >> 170 and a half total for the game and he broke it. That was before I knew he needed 188. >> Okay. All right. >> So, I did have him alternate rushing yards over 210 at
116plus five and >> over 250 at plus 8 to one. But >> he ended the game with 213 yards. Just got over that 210 mark that >> second >> and a pick six. >> Yes. Did you have was there anything I don't remember seeing pick sixes on the >> defensive touchdown score I had that's right >> seven minutes to go running time. Yep. But that's uh funny you mentioned that the anytime defensive touchdown. Where was that? Anytime front page maybe. back attempts. >> So I mean the one bet would have been the >> clock >> plus eight to one for a defensive touch. >> All right. Nailed it. >> So it's halfway through the fourth quarter. The pitch to senior Don Palanszi and there is the clocker first negative play of the game. Shout out
117to uh this Hiller team for just, you know, I know they're playing against the second string, but they continue to fight and play hard. >> Yep. >> Again, Hillers, you know, I know dealing with some injuries. A very young team where Ashlin has a ton of seniors. You know, they have um high number of juniors and sophomores as well. So, Hillers, they'll be, you know, working their thing for next year. Hey, we've been on the other end like like we said since 2001. They've won 18 out of the 23 matchups. It'll be now uh >> quarterback sneak >> a little closer. Braden me >> making the most of his final game. >> Pick up of uh four maybe five. This could be the first tough decision for coach Mccay. Is he going to go for
118the field goal or going for the kick or going for the >> fourth and three? Fourth and three. >> I think they got to go. >> I think he's going for it. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Plus, they got the wind. I mean, the wind's [snorts] really coming on strong right now. >> And you can't throw the ball. >> Nope. So, here it is. Oh, off sides. But they're going to keep the flat. No, they do call it. Okay. So, off sides. So that'll give them two and a half yards. Go from the five to the two and a half yardd line. >> And again, clockers. >> Well, at some point they got to throw the flag, I'm guessing. >> Yeah. So So they didn't throw the flag. That's interesting because they didn't >> they didn't
119clarify that second touchdown. We all all were wondering. And they didn't throw a flag, but they blew the whistle. >> I know it's >> kind of all academic at this point. Yeah. But uh still gota gotta go through the motions. >> So it was fourth and three even though it's off sides. It's it's a half the distance. >> You know something? I didn't even realize it was I thought it was goal. So yeah now it's like fourth and inches. >> I'm going to go a little sneak over here. >> Yeah. >> Oh fumble snap. >> It's loose. It's in the end zone. Hopkins picks it up. >> Could this and the shadow out. Oh Lucas Reed nice side step. All right, >> first turnover of the game >> gives the Hillock fans something to chair
120about. >> Yep. >> Braden me could not secure the snap. >> Fumbles the ball. >> and that was that was number two who had that that fumble. Had a little uh comeback. Lucas Reed. >> Yeah, Lucas Reed. So >> star of the game, I'd say for Hopington. >> Great. done a great job on uh kick returns. He's had plenty of them. >> Had that one fumble. >> Good job. Not just to pick it up, but to uh pick it up. >> Yeah, he could have just downed it. >> Take off. >> So, 330 to go. The uh five handle is going to uh probably not happen. Number six. And there goes Ali Laro. Got to cut him off. Number 12. They chase him down. Yeah. Few of the clock is trying to preserve the shut
121out. So the running clock actually is helping Ashland. >> It is helping. Yeah. >> As uh >> Hopington a chunk play there down to the 40 yd line. Chased out of bounds. That was number six for Hopington. >> Malbert. Yep. >> Pulli I believe. Oh for uh >> Yep. >> Yeah is definitely picking up right now. [snorts] So really this game is going to get interesting because it's really Ken Hiller's score. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Get we'll get some excitement over here with three minutes left. Blitz coming up the middle. >> Charlie again, >> great job. >> Swarmed by the clocker defense. Number 57, the first one in there for the Clockers. Uh David Jampolski. >> 224 to go. Clock running. Hopington. Not >> not really in any hurry. Nope. If they break a long
122play and score, great. But they're >> certainly content. Just uh playing playing a few downs and go home, eat some turkey. >> 23 in motion. They're going to throw. Oh, a screen. Nobody over there. Braden me got to make the tackle. He does. >> And that stops the clock. >> Excuse me. Malachi Lambert. that five and six gets scrunched up. It's hard to see. >> So, real quick, do you have a prediction for your Cowboys today? >> I honestly don't even know who they're playing. >> They're playing the Chiefs. >> Oh, they're playing the Chiefs. Yeah, >> I think they'll be fine. I think their defense is fine and I think the Chiefs >> I think this will be a good game. I'm going Cowboys by three. >> Going past. >> They're going to throw
123blind side. It's hit. >> That's a reflection. So, not a fumble. Yep. >> Incompletion. But the clock does continue to run. 120, 117, 116. >> Not flipping the down mark. It is second down. Second and 10 at the 21 yd line. >> Clockers playing to preserve the shut out. Hington >> trying to end a three-year drought here at the plateau. They throw >> Oh, close to an interception. Great job breaking that up. Was that number >> eight? Was that zero? >> Zero. >> Daniel Castro. Yeah. >> So, it's interesting. You know, Hamilton could call a timeout, but they're letting it run. >> Yeah. >> Which is which is again sportsmanship on both sides. >> Yeah. >> I'll do my prediction for tomorrow's game. We got the Bears and the Eagles and my my Bears are
124expecting them to win. Little bet with Josh Abrams. Loser has to wear the the uh other team's jersey for one of our uh indoor games. >> There's the throw. >> Close. >> Do they call timeout for one more play? >> So, the clock they are. They're going to get fourth down. >> It's fine. >> Okay. >> So, here's the setup at home. It's 10 seconds to go. So, it's a running clock. So, that incomplete wouldn't have stopped it under normal circumstances, but uh Hiller's trying to get a score here late in the game. Can't blame them. >> Yep. >> So, 10 seconds left. They call timeout. It'll be the last play of the game, barring a first down. So, it's fourth and 10 on the 21. They could call a timeout if they get a
125first down. >> So, we've got some excite. You normally you wouldn't you wouldn't expect any excitement going on right now. You know Kevin he hit his [snorts] milestone but 48 nothing >> right. It's like when you get uh you know like last week Samford playing uh Texas A&M you know it's like a 50point spread and >> Samford is just happy to get a a point on the board >> and it's a moral victory. >> Yeah. So >> that's where we are. 48 nothing. Fourth and 10, 21 yd line. Sophomore quarterback for Hopington trying to ruin the shut out. Here comes the blitz. >> Drops back to pass. He's under pressure. And Braden me. >> Braden me. Wow. Oh, >> and Coach McKay calling the timeout as just to get the just to get the seniors
126in for the final snap. Wow, >> what a play. Bron me just comes in for the injured >> quarterback for Ben and what a game. >> Yeah, it's great. Is his dad one of the coaches? So, uh, [snorts] >> you know, obviously a very proud day for coach me as well. So, the final play of the game here, Clockers take over, having preserved the shut out. >> 48 nothing. Bringing in the senior starters or all seniors maybe for this final play. That's what I'm guessing it is. All the seniors Nick Oh, able to get Nick Boomer number 44. The injured Nick Boomer into the game. Always nice. You know, when they won the Super Bowl, they did the same thing. Final play of the game got Don Misaro who was injured in the previous week
127able to get in there. Get your name on the roster stat sheet. >> All right, >> and that does it here. >> Clock runs out. All zeros, including the score total for the Hopington Hillers. A lot of zeros on the board. >> Yeah, as they do the trophy presentations, the players of the game >> and uh line as the Knights of Columbus present the player awards and the veterans trophy. >> Just listening to some of the PA announcements, the Knights of Columbus will do some of the player awards and presentation of the trophy. >> Paul, can you get the uh the trophy down there in the truck there waiting to be presented? I don't know if it goes down that far. I don't know what the name of the trophy is. >> We were trying
128to figure that out earlier. I'm sure the known it's >> but we know it's stay in Ashlin right now for for the year. >> Yeah. >> Being heavily guarded being heavily guarded by both uh the fire department and the police department. >> I think it's more the fire department. So, uh but we we can do a quick recap. Uh so pretty much every everything we were hoping or expecting here today, Brian, uh happened and uh we started with Kevin Oumba going for the 2,000 yards. He had uh you know been plugging along, but then he broke that big 82 yard touchdown. That was his fourth touchdown of the game. gave him 198 yards at the time, which put him over the 2,000 yard mark. Had a few more carries, uh, 202 for the half and
129a total of 213 yards on the game >> and five touchdowns, >> uh, because we got the pick six as pick six to start the, uh, second half. So, just a tremendous career uh, all-time career uh, yardage leader for Ashland. may be the single season record for yards in a in a season. Still record keeping is a little sketchy. It'll be better going on, but that might be the new new mark. 213 yards on top of the I think he had or 1814. We'll put him at 2027. So that might be a uh single season mark and the single game mark with the 334. Uh besides that, we had Ben Athetherton with a touchdown late in the uh F. Okay. And uh yeah, as we do the pro pro trophy presentation, we had Ben Athetherton
130put the uh quarterback sneak and put the clockers up 34 nothing at the half. Two more touchdowns in the second half. as you said, Oz Lumba and then uh Malachi Lambert >> finished the scoring at 48 to nothing. So, tremendous season. Uh we'll watch the presentation. We're going to probably sign off. Want to thank our sponsors again. Townhouse Pizza Roast Beef 126 self storage with Michael Kaine. Thank you so much. Um any closing remarks, Brian? It was just, you know, obviously great game on the clocker. Super excited for Kevin and his family. And again, there was a great article written from him talking a lot about his teammates. I know they're doing the awards right now. It's going to Lambert and Kevin. I missed >> that might have been a defensive. I'm not sure >>
131if they do offensive, defenses, and then an MVP. I don't know how that goes. >> And now they're doing the uh cheering squads as well. So, I think both and the uh the Ashlin. So, they're out there doing their thing, supporting their their teams. And >> want to thank everybody for watching. Hope uh we made it entertaining. Thank our crew, Brady Montino, who's probably down on the field getting some shots, and Paul Bowden and Jeff Hall today. >> Yeah. and uh you know started with the uh traditional cross country run getting the uh traditional ball to the captains and uh besides the crew also congrats to to to uh Peter Graass for his contributions on the PA that was number five Braden me some award [snorts] incredible season Ashlin ended up what nine and two
132>> nine and two they won the Tri Valley large is coach McKay getting the presentation of the unnamed trophy at the moment and shares it with his team. >> That is uh not the Tri Valley one. That is for the uh traditional 101st Ashen versington. >> Yeah, Hillers and Clockers. That brings the series uh total I think it's 54 and five in favor of Hopington but the gap is getting narrower. >> It was a lot larger seven eight years ago. So all right well Brian happy Thanksgiving. Hope you have a terrific day. Uh we're gonna we're going to sign off. Want to thank everybody again uh on behalf of my partner Brian Siet today. I'm Rob Silver wishing everybody great Thanksgiving and good night and go clockers. >> Go clockers. Happy Thanksgiving all. Give me
