Call the meeting to order. Please rise for the pledge of >> allegiance. to the flag of the United States of America to the standy. >> Okay. Can I please get a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting held on 12-3-2025 and 12-8-2025? >> So move second. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. Okay, that passes. We do not have anybody wishing to address the school board on agenda. Non agenda item. I don't know. Somebody might be calling in to ask. We'll just give >> Oh. Oh, that's >> okay. >> Yes. >> Is that why we got >> Oh, well that's exciting. Okay. Um, can I please get a motion to approve today's agenda? >> So moved. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? >> No conflicts of interest. We will move on to item eight,

approval of the consent agenda items A through, let's see, G. Can I get a motion to approve the consent agenda items? >> So moved. Second. >> Any discussion? Okay. All in favor? >> I opposed. All right. We have um hang on. Did we Oh, are we just adjourned now? Oh my gosh, I was looking. Approval of finance report. Approval of personnel report. Okay, we've got that all done. It is usually a record uh set time, especially the December one. Uh now this is years past, there was a little bit of a race to see who could do it the fastest, but uh but there's no need to race. >> Okay. Okay. >> We're past those 50 seconds. >> Okay. Okay. Very good. Um I guess before we end, uh we know we're going to be

heading into the legislative um session. I want to publicly thank the governor for visiting um Sou Falls School District. When was that, Jamie? >> Last week on Friday out at our career and technical education academy. So, it was great to have uh the governor and lieutenant governor out there to visit th that site and to be able to see what we do in the SPAL school district. >> Excellent. Um I did let the board members know they'll be getting some board pins. I've encouraged them to please be visible at all sorts of events, whether it's the League of Women Voters doing their legislative coffee, whether it's a ribbon cutting, whether it's a groundbreaking ceremony. Um, there's just a lot of things and I want to thank them for the work that they do as elected

uh local officials. I know that having local governance is a priority um of our district both legislatively um as well as the large schools um and ASA BA um so and yes thank you keep going on the list we know it's a priority and it's easy to overlook and this group of people are very humble and their hearts are in the right place they're doing it for the kids, the teachers, the administrators. Uh but that doesn't mean that it goes unrecognized or um unthanked um because you only have so much political and social capital. And to the extent that you're using it to serve um kids, teachers, administrators says a lot about you and what you prioritized for the state of South Dakota. So again, thank you. Uh we'll look forward to the new year.

Um, we will be kneedeep into legislative priorities quickly. Um, as well as our budgeting. I know Todd will be busy gathering information. We also have on January 26th a strategic planning session for the board. So, between now and then, be thinking about um, uh, priorities that you want to carry forward or see us carry forward together. um and that public accountability and transparency and advocacy work that you all do is really important and it's recognized and um thank you. I I should add other I'd be remiss if I did not the first lady was also along with the governor so uh to give her respects there as well and visiting the school and also on that work session extended work session we used to call it a retreat it is not a retreat uh it's

an extended work session and I agree with with board member Swanson that it is not a retreat um but we will have on there really welllaid out plan with the the CIP process and and that moving forward as well for the board at that point in time and we'll give some updates prior to that but uh Mr. Conrad Mr. Morrison have been working on that plan along with Miss Conrad to make sure that we have that well laid out for the board and and the process that would be entailed with that. So that'll also be revealed uh at that time and some of that information sooner as well. >> Yeah, good. I had that down there. Appreciate that. Um anybody else for the good of the whole? Mark, any news on a grandchild? Well, we're

delaying right now. >> Oh, delay. Okay. >> Kind of a mixed message. So, you know, uh I shouldn't tell people this publicly, but my first two daughters were born and I was at a track meet at each one of those. >> So, my my daughter, the oldest one, constantly reminds me. >> You were at a track meet. >> Yeah. You weren't you weren't there when I was born. You had a track. >> But no, I'm excited. >> You were there for hundreds of other kids. That's a good point. I'm gonna remember that. >> Okay, Don Marie. Yes. Um I know the helpline center that is doing their final push to get 25 mentors into the three schools um could really use the last few numbers. They were trying to get 25 in. I think Ann

Sullivan, Terry Redlinin, and trying to think of the third one. Does anybody remember the third one? >> Cleveland. >> Yeah. and they were doing a um strive for 25 before the end of the year. So, I've been trying to recruit people individually, but that doesn't get all 25 in each school. So, if you even have a tiny bit of an interest in mentoring a child, we could really use our title schools um numbers to grow. They they deserve a mentor just like anybody else. and um that struggling number. We're hopeful to see that turn around with the supportive helpline and all the entities that do mentorship programming. So reach out to Jenna Lingquist. I believe she you can find her email, but that would be the greatest gift a person could give is to mentor.

So >> yeah, absolutely. And you brought up a good point and that is the partnerships. Our schools are major public institutions and the partnerships that we have are critically important and sit at an intersection of governance um accountability um and and driving forward what's best for kids and teachers and students. So, you bring up a really critical piece to the school district and that's our partnerships and your roles as elected officials with those relationships. So, thank you. Anybody else? Okay. Merry Christmas. Look forward to seeing you all in the new year and safe travels. enjoy your time off and may it be filling in the ways that you need to be recharged and refreshed uh to start a new year. We're adjourned. Oh, well I guess can I ask can I get a motion to

adjourn? Thank you. Do I have a second? >> All in favor? >> Opposed? We are adjourned.
