All right, let's call this meeting to order. Let's have a little flex. >> [crying] [cheering] >> We are [cheering] here. We are Thank you. >> Do we have any just me? >> Okay. >> I apologize. I meant to um call Robera and tell her I was coming. I thought the meeting was next week. Next week is American Education Week and um South Dakota Education Association and the National Education Association are doing a Iheart public schools campaign because our fight is your fight as well. We fight vouchers. We fight um racial and social justice issues. We fight all the things that you fight to make schools better for um our kids. So, I went ahead and bought each of you your own iHeart Public Schools um t-shirt, and I'll give those to you today, and you
can hopefully wear them next week. Um >> that's why I asked for your sizes. >> Oh, okay. [laughter] >> She want to teach me that way. >> Awesome. Thank you. They are pretty forgiving as far as sizewise. So, um, what' you get? That's what I thought. >> There you go. >> Thank you. >> All right. Now, >> anyway, so hopefully >> you guys can and thank you for your dedication and commitment to public schools and >> truly that I live it. Chad's too. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Wonderful. I'll wear mine. >> That's the name I gave Chad when I first came to work here. >> Anyway, that's all I have for you. >> Thank you, Chad. Go home and get some sleep. >> We can promote public education together. >> Yes. Thank you.
>> Good. Thanks. Appreciate it. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> They're here for I believe monetary donation. >> Hello. >> We'll be taking four students to the it's called the C change conference >> ATC. >> It's the same as the other one that we that we did last. >> Oh, okay. >> The the one in Japan. >> Was that one um Dubai? >> That was last year. >> Oh, okay. >> Was that good? But I just >> what we ended up doing is we did um just a flat [clears throat] >> cuz I'm not. >> No, there is. So you take one of each. >> Oh, >> okay. Yeah. Oh. I only have two that were able to come with me today. But there's two students who came to come and it's um Kyle and
Emily. There's >> We already got Emily. >> Emily was here two weeks ago. I got two of >> these. >> I just need one. >> I don't need you. >> I'll just take one of yours when you guys are done with >> them. Sorry. They're just different students. >> And Chad's not here. No, he's not. But I I forward him. There would be more. >> And you just have to approve it and then I'll talk about the amount. >> We disapprove. >> Okay. Um, >> you could do it on 7.5. >> Here's another one too for Chris. >> Welcome. >> Hi. I have >> Savannah Gabby and one of the right here. >> What would you guys like to tell us what you're here to >> why we're going? >> No. Would you like to
tell us why you're here? >> Why we're here? Um, we're here to ask for monetary donations. Um any amount will help. Um you want us to explain like why or >> please. >> Okay. >> Well, the trip is to Japan and they're going to be having the design for change youth conference which we will be attending and they focus on things like um good health and wellbeing, no poverty. Those are like There's certain programs on our students this summer very hard on community projects and they got accepted to go and they got chosen to go. So they're basically showing their projects that they did here at home and like a video slide and talking about it um with kids from around the world doing the same thing and doing exactly what they did but for
their communities. I do. >> We'll be representing the US and our school. >> Y >> but we have had somebody else come in and visit with us about this. Um we can add it to our agenda. Um do you ladies want to? We'll just add it down at 7.5 and then I will get a hold of you. Do I get a hold of you individually? >> Can I'm stepping in for Alexis. I'm not the head chaperone, but on those papers, Alexis has her information on the bottom. There's also the students information on the top. >> So on the >> Oh, and I put their numbers in there. So >> your three I need to watch this. >> And then I didn't hand out Emily's paper since she already >> Yeah, Emily was already here. >>
So, you're just this you're missing one. >> Oh, I just >> All right. Um, >> they'll vote on something this at the end of the meeting and then I will get a hold of somebody. >> Yeah. either Alexis or um any of the students individually on top. >> Okay. >> So, >> I got 7.5. >> Yeah. 7.5. >> I just need Alexis Wit's information. Somebody would share that. >> I'll give you phone number or something. >> This has all of them. >> That has all that has. >> That's what >> Okay. Perfect. >> Right. Okay. And so I don't have anybody else on the public forum tonight. Is there any additions? Anybody wants to add? No additions. Um, moving on to adopt the agenda. >> Motion. Mark the motion. >> Second by Chris. All in
favor? Yes. >> Yes. >> Um, I'd like to turn the time to refer now um for superintendent report. >> The major thing was we had our accreditation review last week. We've actually been prepping for it since I don't know last spring. Um there's about 15 different components that they check. Um drills, immunizations, birth certificates, graduation rates. There's a whole list of stuff that we have to be in compliance for and it's a 5-year accreditation once we get it. Um I did note there that there were three things that we have to continue to work on. Birth certificates, which is historically been a thing, um immunizations, um certification, and that's just with some of our alserts that they have to either take a practice of intent and such and some graduation requirements. They were all minimal
and within the three-month period, we just have to upload stuff, fix it, but I think it'll be done by beginning of December. Um, and then of course, congratulations to our football team um and their trip to the dome. Didn't get the ending we wanted, but it's still an experience for them. And our volleyball girls go tomorrow night to Mitchell to Del Rapids. So, good luck to them. And then you have your upcoming dates. And that's all I have for you. >> Okay. >> Short and sweet. >> And then I would like I skipped ahead and kind of skipped something. We wanted to um shout out to Mr. Martinez for his work with our journalism class and they've created the Talons of Tribune and um they were at the dome. um we had students that were
out there taking photos and so they've just really represented our our district well and are really making a difference and learning how to, you know, report and and gather things. So, just a shout out to them. But moving on, sorry I skipped that part. We're on the 6.1. Anything the board wanted to discuss or bring up at this point? >> Well, I just needed to set a time to finish up some discussions. We got to do evaluations. Got to set up the evaluations. Contract talks coming up. So >> we need to discuss those items. >> So we need to set a date for that. >> Background checks >> and background checks. >> And we also have to discuss >> we do state, federal, tribal, too. Or no, not tribal. Okay. Anytime that there's been something
though that has caught somebody's eye, they would I usually get a phone call, but it's it's state that it's the law. That's part of the accreditation. You have to and you have to house them for 5 years. >> Y [clears throat] could we have this discussion on the student hearing on the 19th or is that too soon? >> No, we can be we can do it. >> Well, we're all here. That'd be good. after this. >> Subway. >> Okay. Moving on to 7.1 the consent agenda. Um is there anybody that wants to pull anything or support it for discussion or does anybody want to approve the consent agenda is submitted? We don't have to pull that one out, do we, Robera? >> No. >> I'll move. >> Chris, did you have something? >> I'll second
it. >> Okay. So, move by Tim to approve the consent agenda. Second by Chris. All in favor? >> Yes. >> Moving on to 7.2. Um, we've read these policies. Um, we just need to approve. Is there a motion to approve policy? I guess I you guys can read them as well as I can, but there are several here. >> I'll make the motion to move. >> Okay, >> I'll second it. >> Motion by Mark. >> Questions. >> All in favor? >> Yes. >> Um 7.3. Um there's a motion to approve long-term substitute waiverss. >> Moved by Amanda. >> Second. Second by Mark, right? >> Okay. All in favor? >> Yes. >> Question. What did you do? >> After the 45th consecutive day of school, a calendar day. If you [clears throat] have somebody in a
long-term position for a certified teacher, you have to just send a waiver. It goes to I sign it, you sign it. Um it goes up to the state. The secretary of education signs it. We just have to have it on file under the part of the accreditation. Okay. and Yousef is um has a certification, but it's in a different country. So, we're waiting to get that. Um the next one is actually doing her student she'll do her student teaching in the spring. >> Okay. >> So, she she's just filling an open position. And then the last one, we're waiting for one of the international teachers that was supposed to be here in September, but it's not here since crisis. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yep. >> I'll vote yes. >> Yep. 850. >> Um 7.4.
Is there a motion to approve the 2026? >> Let me Can I explain it real fast? >> Okay. So, did you get to see >> this? So, this there's a new law out there. Um and it's it's stated there, but now you get only two options for your election. It's either the primary, which is every two years, whatnot, or a general election in November. Um Chad is strongly suggesting we stay what we've been doing and stay with the June primary date. >> That's what Rodney suggested to the class when we were >> So that's that explanation. That's and and in the past you didn't have to choose a date until later in the year, but now it has to be done by December 15th. >> So that's why he puts it on a >> Is
everybody okay leaving it as is? >> Yes. holding this recommendation. >> I'll make the motion. >> I'll second mark by Amanda. All in favor? >> Yes. >> Um I don't believe we have anything to go through. >> 7.5. >> Oh, did I Oh, I just forgot about that. >> Sorry everyone. 7.5. Um [clears throat] after hearing our young visitors um that are coming about be the change celebration um is there a motion >> to make a monetary donation for these young people >> five we pay for the the meals >> okay >> our mad did you make it >> yeah she did do you want a second to make it just >> Okay, guys. >> So, amended this. >> All in favor? [snorts] >> Yes. >> 5 Z. Now, >> no personnel items, no meetings
or events that we haven't already discussed. We don't need exact. So, >> um, my phone Chris is probably says 5:46, but my phone [clears throat] pulling it out. >> Here we go. >> So, I'll adjourn this meeting by my phone. 5:47 p.m. >> And everybody stay warm. The weather's kind of doing strange things right now. You >> enjoy your day off? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
