001You ready? Good evening everybody and welcome to tonight's WACA broadcast of Ashlin High School varsity soccer against uh tonight our Ashlin Clockers will be playing against Denim's varsity boys soccer. We're at the Ashlin Middle School in Ashlin Walker Field. Beautiful night. Nice, crisp September evening. Not too hot, not too cool. Sun's going down, so the field is in shadows, and we're about to get going. >> It's the beginning of the season. This is only the second uh game of the season for Ashlin. Ashlin uh beat Norwood last week 3 to one and has a one-0 record. Denim actually lost their home opener at a Hopington uh zero to one. So Denim will be looking to uh get a win on the board. Last year Ashlin and Denim actually split. Uh at the beginning of the
002season, Ashlin beat Denim. Actually Asham lost to Denim two to one and then later in the season they won two to one. >> Here we are. We're about we're underway. Quick run downfield by Denim, but kick goes out of bounds. Ready to get the balls up to the center. headed ahead for looking to get something going. A little breakaway now by Ashlin. >> Oh, save by Denam. Great quick breakaway by uh >> Ashley looked like it was number um 14. thrown by Dam. Quick centering pass. >> Ball cleared. Header ahead. >> Mar's whistled I think for an offside. clears in. Picked up by Ashlin. Ashley trying to get something set up here. >> Cross to the near side. Oh, good good block by Denim. Five bits of Mina for Denim taking the ball in. >>
003Center try. didn't do a good job keeping possession of the ball. >> Just as I say, that ball's taken away by Ashlin. Clear it out. >> Dam will try to start it up again. throw in not far enough. Intercepted there by >> Ellison Cardardoso for Denim. >> Nice pass pass up of Little tanglement there. >> Okay, Kado with possession. Passes it over. Trying to get the ball up over the far side midfield. Go watch it. gets the ball in. Can't control it. >> Denim clears ahead. Decepted by Ashlin and back to Denim. Denim will try to get the ball going again. Coming up on the far side in possession now. Got a whistle. Turn over. She clears her head but little short. Picked up by Denim. Pass over to the side. ahead. >> Dam trading
004just trading possessions back and forth right now. >> We haven't seen one of the teams get set up in the zone yet. Pass ahead. Nice moves by Souza trying to get the ball up field near side. Nice pass up to Turner but just got away from him. Picked up by Dam offside. Nice kick to center. >> Go out of bounds. >> Again trying to get up the sideline. >> She keeps possession. down by Dilva. >> Gets it across field. A little bit too far. >> Yep. Not too much going on. Balls are trading possession here between >> between Ashlin and Denim as each team's trying to get something set up in the opponent's zone. Haven't been able to do it yet. >> Now looks like Da may Oh, couldn't get the ball out. Good throw
005in front, but >> Ashton's there to defend. >> Good job getting the ball out. >> Pass up out of bound. Be dead in possession. Throw again. pass up. I did on the chain in the corner, but calling it back. Start it over again. >> Colin Rofort with the centering kick. Nice header there in the box, but stopped by Ashley. >> Now Ashley would come out, try to get down to the denim zone and make something happen. >> Suza again flying around out there. >> And now I'm finally joined by my buddy Rod Silva. I didn't know how my audio was. We'll find out. Oh, >> that looked dangerous. >> Collision errors midfield. >> So, I don't have uh I don't have an Ashland roster, but I have the denim one. If you don't have an
006extra, that's okay. >> I got one >> because I can uh All right, good. Thank you. >> There's a better Denim one. >> Okay. Had a couple notes on there. >> Still scoreless hair. >> Denim looking for their first goal of the season. I saw they lost the opener. One- nothing. >> Hopington. Ashland beat up on one of their favorite opponents now in the soccer 3-1. >> Yeah, I was talking to coach Mo a little bit before the game um from last year. I think there were 18 seniors that graduated and now we have 14 new seniors that that have come together that have played I guess they played a lot of JV together so they're very familiar with each other. >> Um co you know coach is pretty um optimistic about how this team's
007going to work together. >> Yeah, he sent me a nice email. I I reached out to him. Oh, was uh >> ball almost slipped through. He's just I have to give props to coach Moto because he's always very accessible and just does a great job. >> The uh >> our cameraman gets an assist on that one. almost took out the camera, >> but uh yeah, like like you were saying, uh gave me a bunch of uh information. Hoping to get the TVL title. They finished what was it? Third last year according to what I saw. >> They did. I think they got knocked I think in the second round. They they got knocked out in a tie penalty, right? >> Penalty. Yeah. >> But uh that was in the playoffs for the TVL. They they'd
008love to get a TVL championship and um >> yes, >> DOA Sherburn >> came in first last year. They they count all like 11 12 teams in large and small as far as the TVL standings. Do Sherburn went 13-2. This Denim team was 123 and one in TVL action >> and Ashland 103 and two came in third. But that's one of the many goals I think coach Moda has set and this team like you just mentioned, you know, lost that heartbreaker and penalty kick. So, they're motivated because there's a lot of kids that were on that team. >> Very true. TVL's a tough league. You know, I think a lot of the teams end up going in the playoffs. Um, so to come out to come out on top in TVL is is really quite
009the accomplishment. Even even to finish at top three, I You're doing really well. >> Yep. >> Yeah. He coach Moto was saying Hollist looked strong with Westwood and Hopington and obviously >> Denim. >> These two split last year from what I saw. They each took their uh the game on their home turf. >> Yeah. >> So, we get a little break in the action with 2830 to go in the first half scoreless. It'll be interesting to see this year, you know, as we were, you know, saying with um I don't know if every other school has the same amount of turnover where, you know, it's it's basically a new team that that's that's out here. I mean, certainly they they've grown up in the program and yes, they've played, you know, they played somewhat varsity
010and they played a lot together JV, >> but um it' be interesting to see if the other teams also have the same kind of refresh >> um as we come into this new season. >> Yeah. Seems like uh coach motor has done a great job of cultivating the program from the middle school on up and I think he's got younger kids that play in the program as well. But I think the JV team he said was undefeated. So there's so much depth that some of these kids did get some varsity time but a lot of them they were obviously successful at the the JV level. It's just a matter of translating it. I didn't realize that the JB team was undefeated for the whole season, which is and that's true. And it and it's it's
011amazing. Actually has two JV teams, so they, you know, they they have quite a big group of uh kids to choose from. Austin trying to get something going up here. Susa again dancing around trying to get that ball forward. Get something set up in the denim zone. >> Crazy week. I didn't even I didn't get time today to try and uh learn some of these denim numbers. I'll let you focus on Ashland and I'll try and learn some of these uh denim numbers. Yeah. >> As they get one in off sides. goalkeeper came out. Grab that one. Smart play >> like to see you have the binoculars. You and I. >> You use those when you were doing the uh football. >> Oh, all the time. >> Yeah. >> Denim goalkeeper in all pink. He's
012very easy to spot out there. >> Which one is that? Is that uh Was that number one? Conor McDonald. Did you >> break now? >> Score. >> Is that number eight? I >> think it was number six. Emanuel Baloney. >> Your eyes are better than mine. >> And right on Q. That was one of the players that uh coach Moda highlighted in the email to me. He was out last year with an ACL and he didn't play at all last year >> really. >> So, uh, Emanuel Balone, Bologoney, I apologize if we're not pronouncing it correctly, make a huge impact as he just goes down. And let's hope this isn't an injury. He >> Yeah, >> it's not good. >> No, >> he's not happy right now. >> As we were just mentioning out last
013year with an ACL and we just hope it's nothing nothing serious. >> He's not happy with the the play against him right there that caused him to go down. Okay, welcome back to uh Walker Field here at Ashley and Denim facing off in this varsity soccer matchup as Emanuel Balone just heading off the field with an injury. after he just put the team ahead one- nothing at 26 just over 26 minutes in the first half. I'm Rob Silver with my partner tonight, George Tubin, here on WACA TV. >> Good to be back. Good to be back. >> It's great to be I think this is the first uh broadcast for WACA. >> I think it is >> here. I think it is. I I've been up on the roof while you've been in the uh
014the fieldhouse uh doing the PA for football, but uh yeah, never on the mic together. >> No, this is exciting for me. >> Likewise. We'll we'll do a jersey swap swap when we're done. What size are you? >> Oh, yeah. I'd like that jersey. >> The Fenway Park, the Red Sox, Roman Anthony. Speaking of injuries, huh? Everybody's getting and he just won rookie of the month. I was lucky enough to be there last Sunday when um Durant hit the inside the park home run. >> Oh, nice. >> All right. In possession. Senior Conor McDonald in the goal. Not the longest boot in the world. They're trying to get something started. >> That's a little bit too hard, but Oh, >> keeping the pressure on. Susan with >> Yeah, that had a good good fielding by
015the goalkeeper. Had a weird spin as after it hit off the guy's back. >> So, clears the center field. Teams jockey for possessions. Oh, great pass up. Oh, the goalie comes out and gets that one. >> That one. Yeah, that was >> a great pass by for >> freshman Thomas Miller number 11 for Denim. Couple young players on number 11 and number 14 right there is another sophomore Quinn Shamway. Pass up a little bit far. Costa over to the side. >> Number three for Denim on defense. Menacing figure, huh? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Big guy. One of the senior captains, Julian Allison Cardoso. I >> think he was on the basketball team. I kind I kind of remembered you saying that name. We definitely have a >> nice flow. Yeah. >> Even the Ashlin team
016looks a little bit >> That's another freshman number 20 Raven Franza for Denim. So a young young team on the field right now for uh for Denim. >> Like you said, you don't know how many players uh you know they they lost last year. Nice little move by Ashland. Oh, great move there by Souza. Oh, and he Oh, just can't get around the goalie. >> Suza's got some serious speed there. Racing up the middle. >> What a good stop by Mcderma there. As you said, seniors doing a very good job for Denim. Yes. Change of possession here. >> I think I liked your roster better. They they have theirs alphabetically. >> Yeah. Right. >> And yours is numerical. The one that you printed with. >> Yeah. Alphabetic rosters don't make sense when you're announcing a
017game. >> No, not at all. >> Samakis gets it all the way across to the far side. just under halfway through this first uh first half. Ashlin leading one- nothing. >> Did you ever play soccer growing up? >> Very little. >> Did you? >> I played up until I think six or seventh grade. >> Okay. But I was always I was kind of a hefty kid, more so than I am now. And uh I always got stuck on defense. >> Oh, okay. >> And the same co and I was good, but the same coach would have me on his team every year and I'd be like center defense and you couldn't go over the midway line, the half, >> right? Right. >> 50 yard line or whatever it was. So, you know, at some point
018you want to have an at least a chance to score, you know, >> used to take the goal kicks, but >> get one of those long passes and hope they go in. >> Yeah. But you couldn't. >> Although Framingham used to have several teams and I remember the first time we were on our team, I think we were 0 and 10 or 0 and 11. I'm like, can I go over the the mid midline? We're not winning anyways, >> right? What is what worse could possibly happen, >> right? I'd get peppered back there. I mean, we were under duress the whole game as Cardosa clears it up to fighting with Ashland. Costa >> cost >> Nolan McDermott pressured back to Msina cleared away by Ashlin. So Vince Msina, senior for Denim with a throw in
019subs. Always a good time to mention our Townhouse sub of the game. Townhouse, one of our sponsors again this year. It's Michael Doyle coming in the game for Denim. >> Ah, our other gold sponsor. Oh, we should actually mention the kick. I Oh, off the goal post. >> Off the top goalpost on that kick. I I think our It would have been defended, but yeah, it looked like he had a good read on it, but uh that was >> another foot lower and that was it. >> Yeah. Always rather see it go off the goal post like that and bounce away. So, >> did um I came a little late, but Denim any any scoring chances earlier on? >> No, most of this game has been played between, you know, the 30 yardd lines, mostly
020in the in the middle as >> Dham and Ashley have just been trading balls back and forth. And Ashlin's >> has got the ball deep a lot more times than Denim has. as we say that. Denham finally getting the ball in. >> Yeah. >> Deep into the corner, >> but nobody nobody there. >> Good job by Fster to pick that up. And >> F sending ever sending everybody down. >> Joeling for the ball again. Good read. Oh, Cardardos steps up. >> The big def defender. >> The fans like that little move. >> That's a great move there by Jacob. >> Is that number 17, Thiago? Yeah, Thiago. Jacob. That's two two first names. It throws me off. >> Our cost is inbound. Inbounding. >> Head it back. Ashlin tries to push it up field. A
021lot of action in the middle of the field like you said. >> Yeah, just a lot of uh a lot of back and forth. A little pinball action going on out there. >> McDermad steps in. >> Yeah, nobody can really sustain a rally. Clock shows 17 minutes to go at least on the clock. >> Gets it outside to Jacob >> up in the corner. >> Just a little out. >> Do you think this turf is as quick as the turf at the high school field or you think they're similar? I I think >> this one looks a little more like grass almost >> interesting. >> Looks a little slicker. >> I don't I don't know which one would be slicker, but >> it's definitely a different different look. >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, I think the
022high school gets turned up a lot more with football, but this one maybe not so much. comes out. Get the ball back down to Dilva. Sue's on the far side trying to get around the corner, but ball just went a little bit too far. comes up, boots it up, goes out the side with Suz over there. trading possessions on the far midfield. >> Nice pass by Jacob >> Tento in the middle. Then nice pass over >> Cardoso with a good read for Denim. breaks it up. Ashlin resets. >> Calls off the defender. >> Oh, there's a mistake. >> Oh, >> is that a corner kick? >> Nice job by Dilva there. Able to get to the ball. >> Yeah, it is a corner. >> He's going to get the corner. Nice. >> Yeah. So, the
023mistake by Cardoso and actually all set up by Fstra's. Nice uh clearing kick and the good hustle by Dilva. >> Who's going to take the kick over there? Is it Dilva? >> I think Dilva and Jacob are over there. I think I don't everybody. No, number 10. Number 10 and Costa >> dribble the ball in. ref says Ashlin keeps possession. >> Nice play by far down the middle. >> Little space for Denim. >> Cleared it away. >> Fincher with another boot to midfield. >> Cardosa played that one well. Ashley intercept. McDermott. Is that him? No. >> Breakaway there by Denim. >> Yeah. Jeremy Chang. >> Number 17 with the orange cleats. >> Good defense there by Ashlin to break that break that play up. >> Yeah. Well, well uh well coached, very well disciplined. Everybody
024kept their position and [Music] >> long pass down the middle >> on side. They got something going here. >> They're almost dead. >> Suffocate the defend the uh offensive player. >> Change of possession. Denim has throw it in from around the 15 yd line. >> Picked up by Ashlin. Got some nice headers. Well, booted out of booted >> and almost almost on the tennis court. >> Well, out of play by Jacob. >> Wasn't going to take a chance of that ball not going out. >> So, Cardoso >> trying to get something set up. >> Pass up to Shamway and taken away by Ashland. Ashland seems content with these long passes. Maybe looking for a little mistake that they can capitalize. I think they have more speed than this Denim team and they're looking to just
025maybe, you know, little mistake outrun them like they did on that uh corner kick, >> right? I think that's the way the first goal was scored. It was just a >> Yeah, kind of like a lazy nothing pass. And oh, little contact. Good. No call. >> Oh, another great pass up just a little bit too far. >> Yeah, D Costa Silver, excuse me. >> Sticking with it. >> Good job back there by Vento to head that ball out. Ashley coming up the sideline. >> Yeah, a lot of space. >> Couple of nice moves there breaking into the middle. Uh >> just couldn't get by the defender. >> Stepped in to clear it away for Denim. >> Now Dam just kicking ahead right into the Ashland defenders. Yeah, >> Ashlin possession with uh Dilva throwing in.
026>> No, >> it's going to be cost inbound. >> She trying to get a play set up here. back to Costa with >> less than 10 minutes on the clock now in the first half here. That goalkeeper holding it, trying to get something set up. He boots it up the middle. Good battle there with uh Tatulian. >> Nice moves there by Souza, but then the pass goes a little bit. Nice takeaway there by Ashlin. Oh, that's going to be trouble. >> It's Isaac over there. Good takeaway. >> It's an opportunity. >> Good opposite, but it's >> Oh, nice stop by Roachford. >> Suzoua was by himself with three defenders. >> Oh, another chance. >> Oh, nice pass ahead. He's >> nice sliding block by uh Cardardoso over there. Ash will bring the ball in. >>
027Oh, >> nice center anding kick, but nobody nobody there to uh to do anything with it. >> Wow. Roachford couldn't clear, but now they get now they get the foot on it. >> Up to Julian. >> Get him on the breakaway. But >> Ashlin just not letting him get anything going. >> No. >> Oh, great pass up the middle. A little bit too far. did a good job shielding the uh offensive player away from the goalie. And here's Ashley. And again, relentless with their pursuit. >> Oh, nice. >> Oh, there's a Oh, shot on goal. And then the rebound. >> Souza had a great opportunity there. I mean, it was very tight. >> Yeah. >> Luckily, he got that kickoff and the goalkeeper couldn't keep possession. It got knocked back to Souza. He took another
028quick shot, but >> didn't have didn't have much of an angle when they after the uh the rebound tried to >> find the corner. But >> well, Ashley has certainly had more shots on goal than Denim in this game. >> I haven't kept count, but probably, you know, at least half dozen shots on goal for Ashlin and maybe just a couple for Dam. Smart play by Jacob. Reset >> again. Good job feeding the ball back when they can't f clearing it. >> Those big bounces, those are where you uh end up with some of those mistakes. There's uh >> Sue over there on the far >> corner. Who's is that number? See if I get a number. Thought it was number three in there. >> Oh, >> number three and 14. Is number 14 for
029Ashland. Nice defensive play there by number 19 Vento to stop that attack, get the ball back up field. >> Costa trying to kick it across to uh >> Gracias in the corner centering. Oh, just >> handled cleanly by McDonald. >> Yeah, tough. Just didn't get it quite far enough out. to the front there. Had the right idea and he had Souza right there out front. But >> I don't know if it if it's a big factor, but it seems like Denim is into the wind a little bit. >> You're right. You're absolutely right. >> I don't know if it, you know, is only a factor on the on the goal kicks or if it just helps all around. A little bit too far on that kick as well. >> Yeah, Cal Costa. >> Yeah, these
030are barely getting to the 45 yd line. >> Intercepted there again by trying to get some two defenders and he does. >> Gets the ball getting it down into the corner looking to center. >> Some help. He's got two defenders on him >> dribbling around. Jeez. Great job. Kick on goal. Oh, right. >> Right to the goalkeeper. >> Good. The shot was on goal though from there. It was a good shot. >> Yeah. >> A nice little uh >> curve to it as well. >> Yeah. Good job, Deacon. The defender >> got off a nice kick. Just hoping that maybe uh McDonald doesn't field one of these cleanly and can put away a rebound. >> Right. >> Mackie Kotab with the assist. >> That'll be fun to watch in 3D. Jacob with the inbound after
031these subs. Yeah, both teams subbing now with uh three and a half minutes on the clock. >> Nice bounce pass into >> Souza. Souza tries to get it all the way across. >> Will lose possession on that. Jack Jack Randres, freshman number 24 for Denim with the in inbound throw. >> Costa dances around, gets the ball ahead over to Soua. SA takes in the corner and the ball just gets away from him. I >> think if we learn Cuz number and Jacob will probably cover about 60% of the uh >> the play. >> First first game of the year for us. So >> they're being gracious to us playing on our side of the field. So we can see who they are very well. I >> think that'll change next half. >> Billy Pulio number
03215 for Denim. Oh, >> little aggressive by Jacob. >> Yeah, came in over the top. A little bit of a bump. Penalty called there. >> Colin Roachford, the junior for >> Powell, I should say. >> Soua all over that. >> Yeah. The scene of trying to bring the ball up >> inbound a little further up. Yeah. Great footwork. >> Amazing. Amazing dribbling there. >> Colorado ahead. >> Gracias. >> The ball to the far side. And that shot's going to go up. >> Goes out the end line. Goal kick. Oh, now off a Denim player. I think they're calling for a corner. Maybe not. Okay, goal kick. So, two minutes time being kept on the field for the last two minutes. Ashland Clockers looking to go two and 0 on the season, leading one- nothing. >>
033Well, Ashen has certainly been down in the Denim zone more than Denim has been in Ashlin zone. Yeah, I mean looking at the roster just on the surface it seems like Denim is a much younger team doing a lot more rebuilding >> than uh Ashland from what coach Mod told was 14 seniors did we he say we have this year or something? >> Yes, 14. >> Yeah. >> Where I'm looking uh four, five, >> eight or nine seniors for Denim. I think as importantly as these these K kids all played together in JV, so they're very familiar with >> what each of them is going to do. >> They seem to be a little bit a little bit more of a coordinated team. >> A good job up the middle defending there by uh >>
034Dam trying to make a push here at the end. >> That might be it. One more big kick. There's the head it back. Trading headers there. >> And that'll do it for the half. >> That's the half. So, as we go into halftime, clockers one. Denim not yet scored, but it seems like the game is, you know, a lot of back and forth, but predominantly it looks like Ashlin, I think, is getting some better field position, getting some better shots on goal. Um, it seems to be a little bit more control of the game. Yeah, one goal at the about the 29 minute mark or so with Emanuel Balone who then a minute later unfortunately went down with an injury. We don't know what it was but uh he had to be helped off the
035field. So uh we just hope that he's uh pro not probably not back today but uh at some point in the season. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Hope hopefully it's not a season ending injury and and he'll be back shortly. >> If we hear anything, we'll let you know, but I don't I don't >> Yeah. >> think we're going to get any updates. >> No. And uh give us a chance before we take a break here. Thank our gold sponsor of the year. Uh Michael Kane over at 126 Self Storage. Want to welcome him back uh supporting us here football, all all sports for the fall season. You are correct. The Marauders >> and Ashlin
037kick getting trying to get the ball in deep. >> Kicking your head up to the side. Corner kick for Ashan. So immediately pressuring Denim. >> Is that Suza over there on the side kicking it in? Centering kick. >> Little long. >> A little long. It's going to go out the other side. >> There's a chance to thank our two cameramen today, Mackie Kotub and Lewis Miranda, bringing you these nice shots. See if Mackey can get the moon in the background there. >> And the uh production being done by Paul Bowden and Jeff Hall. >> These guys do a great job. >> Yes, they do. >> So Ryan D is called for a little contact. See if Ashland can take advantage and mount the attack. >> Get the ball just past center field >> into the
038wind. >> He's going for the goal. >> Vento on the kick on goal. >> Just wide. >> It's a nice kick just just wide of the goal there. >> Got a good leg. No doubt about it. will take the ball out. Centering up to Tulian can't control it. Goes out of bounds. Back to Ashland. This is where the binoculars come in handy. George, >> it does. It does. I feel like we're going to seemed like a lot of the game was played on the near side of the field la last time. So, I I I think this this half is going to be on the far side. Good cartoon far side. You don't see it see it around too much anymore. >> Souza pressured by a couple denim guys. Quick. >> Gosh. I'm getting the
039ball in deep into the corner. >> And there goes the roster. >> There goes my roster. >> We'll pick it up in a sec. We got a We got an attack. I I'll grab it. >> Denim right back. >> Five. Yeah. >> Getting the ball up. But that ball's going to go out back to Ashland. Give me >> Can you grab his roster? got blown away with a gust of wind. >> Thanks Paul Bowden to the rescue. National again with possession trying to get something going here. >> Owen Ishach number 14 came in late in the first half. Seeing some more action. Good communication letting him know they had some pressure behind him. >> Trying to get trying to get the ball up field there to Isaac. But a little bit too a little bit
040too far. >> Oh, look at this. >> Oh no. Did that go that a goal? >> Nope. Just behind it. >> Wow. >> Souza with a huge opportunity. Just rushed it a little bit. I don't think he realized he had as much time and room as he as he did. Yeah, I think at the last minute that ball bounced right in front of him and it was like he just couldn't stop his momentum. >> He's an exciting player. >> But there he goes. Another shot on goal. Wow. You know, they they highlighted in the Metro West some of the players to watch >> for soccer and I don't think there was one Ashland player mentioned, but uh tell you right now, keep an eye on Souza and Jacob and Dilva. >> Nice passing by Ashland.
041Tom Miller, freshman for Denim. Another freshman. Seems like every time I look at a new name, it's a freshman. >> Okay. Got called there for a little bit. A little bit too physical. >> Yeah. Tatulian throws his hands up in amazement that he got called. Mazakus did a great job of uh being physical with the defender, but the uh ref thought it was a little bit too much. >> Well, I think when he kicked made that last kick and he missed the ball completely, it didn't it wasn't intentional. kind of almost need him in the stomach, but >> booting the ball back in again. He's got a another good leg. >> Beanster following in the foot footsteps of his older brother, Arian, who also played goalie for Ashland. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. Graduated two
042years ago. Mhm. >> Now at the University of Iowa not playing >> but uh >> Fisher spent a lot of time ago last season last year too. >> They may it's possible I have them confused. >> Ashlin trying to make something happen. Nice passes there. National ball in the near corner. Quick inbound. Good. Defenders all over. >> Give better try. >> Is that Dmitri? >> Rosakius. That's going to be my next email to coach is the phonetic pronunciation of all the players. >> I don't like mispronouncing the names. No, centering pass just a little bit too too high. Got away from uh Ashlin players out front. Denim will clear to the middle once again. Ashlin leading one- nothing. >> There's another opportunity and uh Souza couldn't control it. A little strong on the kick, but
043yep, >> good good direction. Just just a little bit a little bit off there. Great great idea, though. So, Roachford takes the kick for Denim. up to midfield. He thought that was uh off of Denim, excuse me, off of Ashland. >> The rough talking to the Denim player that was complaining a little bit. >> I usually don't see those things, but I did see that it uh deflected off of him. So, it changed direction a little bit. Nice pass ahead, but >> called for off sides. >> Nice strong kick. >> Good. And with the lights on this field, it's not the easiest thing to see player numbers and identify who who has the ball. >> Go with the ball. Nice give and go by Denim. >> The freaking Lubby up the sideline. >> Great defense there by um >> sub coming in >>
049number 29er >> and to the game is Ray Salipan for Denim number 16. Don't believe I've called that name tonight. And Ashley gets called for offside. >> Back on offside. >> Just under 17 minutes to go in the game. Clockers leading one- nothing in their home opener. >> Second half's looking a lot like the first half. A lot of just trading possessions midfield and then Ashlin getting some break breakaways. Uh getting the ball in. had a couple of great shots on goal. Um, one one of these will land. >> Yeah, you know, it's just you get those big bounces and you just have to make sure that you play them cleanly on defense and uh hopefully when you're on offense, you
053can take advantage of the bad bounce. It's >> still early in the season. Both of these teams, you know, feeling themselves out. >> Wanted to give a quick shout out to uh girls soccer Norah Cox in their four nothing win over Norwood on uh Tuesday or Wednesday, whatever it was. Is that denim? >> Clock's still running. >> Yeah. >> Thought they usually stop it during a timeout. >> Yeah. >> I think, you know, it makes sense for Denim to take a timeout to kind of regroup and think about what they're going to do to try to get a at least a shot on goal. Yeah,
056>> they stopped it. >> They put seven seconds back on the clock. >> Ah, yep. There you go. They did stop it. >> I haven't I haven't um seen a lot of games recently here at the middle school. It's It's um nowhere near as bright as the Ashlin High School field. >> Nope. >> But it's a nice field. >> It's very nice field. Lacking Wi-Fi access, which is why you were viewing everyone's viewing this on tape delay. You don't have the power to set up either. We'll see if Denim comes out with a new uh a new strategy here after the the timeout. Clear out to center field. That's uh number nine Tatulian back in the game for Denim after a little bit of a rest. They're going to need him down the stretch. Definitely

Not not really allowing Denim a lot of space to >> that one indeed. >> Good job by Denim to control it and F. >> Oh, great save by F knock it away. There was an opening there on the near side and the uh you know Denham took a shot on the ground. It a smart place to put the ball but Fster just went right down and knocked the ball out and now Denim will >> take the ball in from the corner. So going to be a corner kick. Great
059centering pass to Souza and a quick kick right right into the goal. the goalkeeper didn't have time to even move when that ball just flew in there. >> He's had a lot of opportunities and finally able to capitalize. So, that's nice to see >> as he's been uh >> we believe it's Soua. It's in a very dark part of the field. So, >> exactly. >> If we have the number wrong, we apologize, but we we think that was Souza who got the goal. I don't know who got the assist. >> I'll I'll do a voice over at the studio if it was wrong. Just over eight minutes on the clock. Ashlin now up two nothing. >> Ashland continuing to pressure. One thing we've seen too is that Ashlin has some tremendous speed. >> Yeah. >>
060Oh. Oh, a call offside there. >> Great pass up to Soua. Souza, >> see his eyes just widen, but >> it was called off sides. That's tough because I don't think he's had a ton of playing time and then you get in the game and >> right >> called for a yellow. >> Just under five minutes on the clock with Ashlin up three nothing. Even even with the yellow card, it's still a lot for Denim to overcome. >> Ventos kicks that one sky high. >> Ashlin still aggressively moving the ball up field.
063>> Nice forward pass. Good job by Miller, the freshman, to uh >> get the ball away from Lio. >> Yeah, >> now Denham quickly tries to get the ball a little bit too far. Ashen clears back into Denim zone, but back to midfield. >> Great job. I don't know if you can hear them, but this Ashland team, a lot of communication, yelling out, calling for the ball or just letting other players know when they're in danger of being, you know, run down from behind or stuff like that. Right there, there's Vento again. I got it. >> Get him going up the far sideline. >> Wonder how the lighting affects the goalie if it does. I mean, when you're down in the playing field. >> Oh, that's a great pass up field, but called offside. >>
064Sure. You remember like when you were little you playing whiffle ball and it's like almost pitch dark out like >> but whatever you could still see the ball. That's >> Oh, just a little bit too far on the on the forward pass there. And >> the goalkeeper comes right out, snatches it up, boots the ball out to midfield. >> If he gets another goal, you're going to have to throw that hat on
065the field there, George. >> Hope it's not your favorite. >> Patriots hat. What do you think of the Pats this year? It's everybody's saying it's going to be a breakout year. They definitely have some very strong players. You know, may may finally have some receivers. >> Yeah. >> Did a lot to beef up the the front line. >> Yeah, I'm optimistic. I'm optimistic. It's uh >> defense is still a question, but >> yeah, it just seems like it's a different vibe this year. >> Yeah, >> with Vable as the coach knowing that he's been there. >> I agree. There's Souza. >>
066Nice pass. Oh, >> another call off sides. So they stop the clock with four minutes in the second half or in the game >> and they keep the time on the field. >> So somewhere just over four minutes left to play. D will inbound the ball from the far side. Trying to make something happen here. Washington defense has been tough. >> As much as we get as much as we get excited about the shots on goal and some of the breakaways on offense, the defensive side of um Ashley's play has been phenomenal. >> Yeah. Uh >> they just, you know, they haven't allowed many shots on goal. They've defended very well against the corner kicks. doing a great job anchoring the defense and Thiago Jacob. >> That ball cleared out. >> Yeah, they're content just
067clearing it out. You just want this game to finish with no other injuries, nothing, right? >> Sometimes, especially when the game gets a little out of hand, people can get a little >> little emotional. >> I agree. I agree that Ashton's just happy to run the clock out here. >> Good deep throw and out to grab that ball. >> Lighting not affecting him at all late in the game. Seeing everything. >> Boots it to >> Miller controls barely. >> Just great pass across. Oh, a quick kick just got away. Oh, up the sideline. >> Souza right there. >> Centering kick. I think it's uh easy easy silver medal tonight. What do you think, >> Arthur Souza? >> I I I think it'll have to be Souza.
