Good evening everybody. Thank you for being here. Happy New Year to everyone. Good to be back after a break and look forward to a great 2026. Board members, you have before you a proposed agenda for tonight's meeting. We would order the open for a motion that we either approve this agenda or make any changes that you see fit. I make a motion to approve. Okay, motion. I second. Discussion? All in favor say I. I. Anyone opposed say no. Thank you. If you all please stand for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. Okay. We have a couple of emails from Ms. Williams with our information

for the meeting. The December 31st email had the draft minutes from the December meeting. We open for a motion to approve those or make any changes necessary. I make a motion to approve December 1st. Okay. Meeting. Motion. Second. Second. Any further discussion? All in favor say I. I. Anyone opposed say no. Great. Thank you for that. And then in today's email, we have the disbursements for the month. Take a If you haven't already taken a look, please do that now of the disbursements for December. I make a motion to approve December disbursements. Thank you. You've got a motion. >> Second Second. A second. Any discussion of the disbursements? All in favor say aye. Aye. Anyone opposed say no. Thank you very much. Uh principals' reports. Happy New Year, Mr. Happy New Year, everybody. Uh I'll

start with Ralph Askins. Uh Ralph Askins said they were excited today to welcome their students um returning and and their new students as well. Uh coming up this month, their report cards will be sent home uh this Thursday, January 8th. And their awards program will be on Wednesday, January 14th. And the students who earned um honor roll and honor roll will be recognized and they will also recognize students who displayed good character and perfect attendance. For the middle school, they will also send home report cards on January 8th. The awards day will be January 16th at 10:00 a.m. And before the break, their seventh graders interviewed with local industry members and that was in Miss Smith's career exploration class and it was an incentive towards choosing their academic focus. So, and I know it's kind

of like our mock interviews that we do with our seniors and I heard that it was a great success. Their enrichment classes will begin with the new year and they're going to start with goal setting and mindful breathing activities. So. And then for the high school over the break, we had two of our health science students that completed their CNA certification. So, they went over to TCAT Pulaski. They had to be there by 7:00 and I believe it was over eight days, but I would just wanted to say huge congratulations to them for really doing that on their own as well. And Miss Brandy Thompson. Yesterday, we had a local quilting group, the Wonky Social Social. Was it the the Wonky Sewing Social? Sewing Social? >> [laughter] >> They created and donated a Underground Railroad

Freedom Quilt to Mr. Tim Hobbs and I know a couple of our board members are there yesterday and that will be on display at Feble High School during Black History Month. And then we'll also have a presenter um excuse me, Ms. Debbie Yorba. Um she will come during our uh program to explain what each thing on the quilt means. Um along with her, uh we also have uh now we have Kedrick Williams who's a former Tiger and Margo Gray of WAFF. Um will be there and uh we'll uh give more information about that, but that program will be February 20th at 10:00 a.m. Um Basketball is going well so far. Uh we're a little over um the halfway mark. Both teams I feel like are starting to hit their groove. Um We are going to

have I believe it's the first, you might know, um basketball homecoming. Good. So um and that is going to be Friday, January 30th. Um and the ceremony will be at 5:15 and that will be before the game. Yeah, I don't think we've had basketball homecoming specifically since um the junior high years. I think that's the last time we did it. So that's something that our student body president asked um and I think the kids kind of wanted to we decided to go for it this year. That's cool. Um the last news I have is FHS will be hosting two foreign exchange students this semester. And we met with them, Ms. Davis and I met with them today. They are very excited. Uh I know our staff members that are going to be teaching them and

all of our staff members are very excited. Uh there was a little buzz with the students as well. Obviously um one of the great things uh about that is as soon as they came in and we talked about classes, they wanted to know what sports they could be involved in, what clubs, what what they could do to fully immerse themselves here at Fayetteville High. So, I'm really excited to have them this semester. That's awesome. So. We've done that in the past, I know, several times and they had some great experiences. Do you know what countries are they from? Um Italy and Slovakia. Okay. So. That's a good deal. Yep. Yes. That's all I have. That's fantastic. >> Yeah. Good report. Yeah, thank you very much. And I'm sure you may need to slip out, but

it's spoiler alert. Next month is appreciation of principals and assistant principals. So, I don't think there'll be any doubt in the way the board will vote for that, but we do appreciate for you and all of your all your colleagues, what a great job you guys do for us. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate all the support. Thank you. Thanks. Next on the agenda is our time for any public comment that might have been requested. There were none. Okay. All right. Supervisors' reports. I know Mr. Griffin is out there. Hello. Hey, hey. Miss Dotson's not going to be able to be here tonight. She was sick and had to leave. So, you get stuck with me only. Calendar, I think Miss Sandy sent those out to you for next year. If you didn't, I have

copies if you need a copy. And I think there was a revised version in today's email. That's it. That's what William sent out. It mirrors the county's? Yes. Yes. I like the spring break this year. I [clears throat] like that. Oh, well. I I haven't really spoken to any of them about the rationale, but I I it may have been specifically >> It was. I spoke with not have such a long stretch without a break. Yes, I spoke with Miss Tolman today about it as a matter of fact and and she passed that along that they uh they thought it'd be better for testing, which I certainly agree, and uh uh weather would be better for the break time, too. So, those are great valid reasons. So. So, we need to take action to approve

this calendar for the 2026-2027 academic Yes. >> [laughter] [clears throat] >> I'll make a motion that we approve this academic calendar. Second. And I have a second. Any discussion or further questions? All in favor say aye. Aye. Anyone opposed say no. Excellent. All right. And then since Miss Dodson was out, I was going to just double-check our graduation is on Thursday, May 20th, which tends has seemed to work well for the entire community. Everybody can go to everybody's graduation if if they desire. That's awesome. That's awesome. Thanks. I appreciate that. Thank you. Hope Miss Dodson gets well soon. We'll get the other one for you on okay. Uh Miss Williams has her monthly CFO report for us. These were emailed to you earlier today and it's the year-to-date revenue and expenditure reports from July through

the end of December. And this is just for review and now entertaining questions you may have. Any questions? We appreciate those monthly roll-ups. That's that's very helpful. Appreciate it. But at the macro level, everything is going well financially. We're we're really kind of right where we expected to be, which is remarkable when you put a budget together for the year and can be halfway through and be kind of right where you expected to be. That's awesome. All right, thank you. Uh committee reports, uh facilities and transportation. Yes, um of course being a uh short month in December there wasn't a lot of opportunity to have as much go on with buses and things like that, but we are we're going to have to replace some batteries on some buses. Um it's not affecting the routes

in any way, shape, or form. We're in good shape with enough spares. >> [clears throat] >> Our drivers are we're still in great shape with drivers. Uh one of the only school systems to have a full complement. And I'll um as Spencer was mentioning, uh the students who got their CNA um certificates completed, uh we've got a couple of other students who are going as we're starting this semester. And Drew Ivy is of course he's a licensed bus driver. He has a um he'll fill in and do do stuff for our buses, but he has taken those students before school um over to Pulaski so that they can do their coursework there. And then his planning is at the end of the day so he can go and get those students and bring them back

home. So we've got two other students who'll be completing, you know, within a month or six weeks uh you know, two more. And that's one of the neat things about being a small system is um if you've got good people and good policies and procedures in place and somebody wants to take advantage of an opportunity, sometimes there's a way to make that happen. Uh and I'm very pleased. I appreciate Drew uh taking that on. Um he obviously he is a part of the bus driving team, uh but that's kind of a little extra responsibility and he was uh incredibly helpful to do that. That's going to create a great situation for those young ladies. Um facilities, everything's in good shape and uh no major issues. We're this semester we're going to try to really dial

in the plan for the hallway that where we have some of the rain leaks at Fayetteville Middle and we'll get that implemented. The Deaton building has come along. We're in the very short rows of that. We're really kind of a cleanup and I I would anticipate we'll have we'll have some people occupying those offices within 3 weeks. Everything's going pretty well? We'll we'll do some sort of signage I assume when it's Actually probably You can take down the old We we will take down the old one and we'll have security film placed on the building and we'll just put basic contact information for anybody that wants to come up because there would be no business to be conducted there outside of the already existing contact information so we'll probably go with a minimalist approach on

that. >> Sure. Sure. Excellent. It's good to hear that. Is it going to be treated like an extension of the It's going to be like an extension of the campus basically? Yeah. Is that right? It's not a standalone. No, it it'll be So the way the address works, Fayetteville High School is A then middle school is B and this will be C. Yeah. It'll be following that. So like that. So we're good. FEMA TEMA project. There's been a little bit of a delay trying to get some signatures and things of that nature. Anticipate we'll get some information out locally downstairs and hopefully get a signature sooner rather than later and that'll help move everything forward so I'll let you know as I learn more. Okay. I'm sure those agencies uh were shut down for the

holidays or whatnot most >> minutes so and I do like I think you know, I'm never shy about polite, professional, uh constructive ideas as it comes to some of those bureaucracies. That's encouraging. I must say in the last month uh FEMA has been more responsive than at any point previously. So, that's encouraging. I don't know you know, I don't know that it makes the wheels go any faster, but I am pleased that the full communication is the best it's been. So, that's great. Good to hear. That's that's great. All right. Uh Finance Committee did not have anything other than uh we we did ask uh Mr. Jones and Ms. Williams that you know, our audits are um have not been delivered yet and they were due really in September. And we we're using the same

firm the city uh used uh for their audit and um my understanding is that they're very close on the school system audit. Uh but but one of the things we asked is that if we don't I think the anticipation is that we will have that audit for the February meeting. Uh but we had asked Mr. Jones if he would communicate to them if they're not going to have that audit to us, could they be here to explain kind of the problems they're having and the status of the audit so that we can get a an update um because we we have had to file for an extension with the comptroller and that starts to look like maybe we're not responsive to deadlines which we are eager to be. >> [laughter and clears throat] >> We

are very responsive to timelines. And so, we want to make sure that we uh understand exactly what's going on and and uh but I think I think every uh expectation is that it'll be delivered this month and we'll be okay to see our audit in the at the February meeting. So, um but I just wanted to do that one little update from the finance committee this afternoon was we will hopefully either have it we'll have the audit hopefully, but if we don't we should have a representative able who is able to explain uh where we are in the process. So, thank you all for that. We'll communicate that clearly. All right. Uh insurance and policy has a bit of a list. I do. Which is a good thing. Um, so I make a motion for

the approval of policy 1.102 on student board member on the second reading. Got a motion. Second. And a second. Any questions or comments? All in favor say I. I. Anyone opposed say no. Second. And a second. All in favor say I. I. Anyone opposed say no. Great. Thank you very much. Appreciate that. And next on the agenda is Mr. Johnson's report. >> [clears throat] >> Yes, sir. Um you have in your packet a letter from uh Ms. Fritz um requesting approval for the FFA chapter to attend the Tennessee State Convention this year. Uh the dates are March 22nd through 25th. And this is an annually recurring uh request. And uh they've always gone, had good success, and enjoyed time, learned a lot. So, I'd like to submit that request for board

approval. And they'll have some competitions as well that we'll be anxious to hear from when they return. Yeah, there's a lot that goes on in that convention. It's a pretty action packed. Mhm. But in the night, but they always go back tired and happy. So, Yeah, we've done We've done well with those in the in the past, those competitions. So, Good. All right. I'll make a motion we approve that trip. Second. Second. A second. Any further discussion? All in favor say I. I. Anyone opposed say no. All right. Well, thank you. Anything else? Yes, sir. Mr. Johnson's report. Thank you. Well, as I as I hinted to Mr. Pearing earlier, this the month of February, we have a resolute draft resolution before us to honor our principals and assistant principals. Unquestionable the leadership and guidance

they provide. They in layman's terms, they're responsible for their buildings and that is a lot of responsibility. And we sincerely appreciate all they do to really provide a safe, supportive, engaging learning environment for the for the students. And so this this resolution would resolve that the Federal Board of Education designates February 5th as principal appreciation day. And again, that's principals and assistant principals. Um on February 5th across all of our schools and we would extend our heartfelt appreciation to the principals and assistant principals for their unwavering dedication. And we would also encourage students, staff, and community to join in and recognizing and celebrating their leadership and service. And that's what's before the board for consideration. Can I make a motion to approve this resolution? Thank you. Got it. Second. And I have a motion and

a second. Thank you. All in favor say I. All who oppose say no. Great. Our next board meeting would normally be Monday, February 2nd. As far as I'm aware, that will work for all of us. Then we will plan to see everyone at 5:00 on February 2nd. Speaking of appreciation resolutions, this isn't technically an agenda topic, but those are some great shots of superintendent appreciation where you threw some I enjoyed that. >> socks uh thrown at you at at the schools. It was fantastic. I had Yeah, if you want to share any stories It was Well, it's a unique experience cuz you think, you know, >> [laughter] >> how often do you You're standing in the center of a circle and being pelted from every angle by hundreds of socks, but the kids enjoyed it

so much. I had a blast, and I'm looking forward to potentially doing it again next year. Um Sandy and I have concocted this plan that I was like, "It looked so neat being in the middle of it." >> Yeah. And I maybe you're getting a GoPro or something like that to get a first-person perspective because it was really fun. And I'm grateful with the older kids that I had like a little target to use as a shield for my face cuz those socks kids got >> [laughter] >> The The little ones, it was like it was sweet. The older ones [laughter] are like, "Here he is. Here he is. There he is." They really socked it to you. They really did, and we we all enjoyed it. I think I may have got those younger

ones a little too riled up though before we sent them back cuz the teachers were all looking at me like, Yeah, yeah, but it was a great experience. >> And it was for a good cause, right? It was fun, yeah. Yeah, the socks were They were all donated. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. It was really really fun. It was fun. Okay. All right, Mr. Bradford, anything from the city? >> [clears throat and cough] >> I don't really know anything. And the wheels turning for 26. Okay.
