Hey guys, it's August in Ashland and we're at the Ashlin Public Library again and we're going to go on a slide. We're going to talk to the director and find out what's happening at the Ashlin Public Library. [Music] Hello everybody. My name is Mina Jane. I'm the director of the Ashlin Public Library. I'm super excited to be here with Waka TV to talk about it's happening at the Ashlin Public Library because something's always happening at the Ashlin Public Library. So, I want you to meet my director of youth services with Katrina Ireland Biligu and the teen librarian Laura Bernier who is going to be talking in just a minute. But you can hear the music playing, can't you? because today we're going to be talking about three different programs. One for adults, that'll be me.
One for children, that'll be Katrina. And one for teens, that'll be Laura. So Katrina, tell us why are you playing music today? So we are so excited to welcome Evan from Music at the Blissful. He's a sixtime Parents Choice Award-winning musician, and he does an amazing family show. and we got him to come to Ash Lynch on this Thursday. What is it? August 7th, I think, something like that. Um, this Thursday at 400 p.m. He's going to be over at the farmers market field. So, there's lots and lots of uh room available for families to pack in there and enjoy his music. Um, it's a great interactive show. It's going to be beautiful weather. I think it's 80° and partly sunny. So, um, we're really hoping for a great crowd. So, I'm excited. >> That's
right. And you can learn all about our kids programs in our August brochure. Isn't this beautiful? So colorful. Um and we have these all over the library if anybody wants to come into the library and pick them up and know everything that's happening at the for children and teens um all month long. >> So I So you know, and it's funny because you know everything that's happening at the library, but so often I have no idea what's going on in adult land. So, what is happening for the adults this week? >> We're going to have to have a little talk about that because Katrina is our assistant director as well. >> So much brain space I have. >> It's well, you know, you got the music going. That's the important thing. So, we're really excited
because we've been we we have several book clubs. Um, some are in person, one is hybrid, and several are online. Um, but this Friday is our mystery book club, which has been so much fun. the um it's Fridays the I think the second Friday of the month at 12:00 p.m. and they are reading this book called Old City Hall by Robert Roenberg. It's a debut novel and it is um twisty. So I'm going to read a little bit about it for you so that you can um pick up the book from the library and join us for the conversation. So this is it is what the book is about. It should be an open andsh shut case. Canada's leading radio host, Kevin Brace, has confessed to killing his young wife. He had come to the
door of his luxury condominium with his hands covered in blood and told the newspaper delivery man, "I killed her." His wife's body lay in the bathtub of their suite, a fatal knife wound just below the sternum. It should have been an openand-shut case, but it's not. So, if you would like to join us for this amazing conversation, uh it's this Friday the 9th at 12 PM and it'll be here in the Chver conference room with one of our staff members. And our book clubs are awesome. So, if you like to read mysteries, join us for this one. If you are interested in other book clubs, definitely check them out in our August brochure for adults because we put these out every month. We have all of our programs and you can get this um physically
or you can get the digital one where you can actually click on links. So that's through our newsletter, but we are super excited about our book clubs because what else should a library be doing, right? >> That sounds like a really good book. >> It does sound like a really good book. And I'm not a mystery reader, but I'm like hm. And I love debut authors. I love giving them like a little bit of shine because I think it's really important to make sure that we're, you know, reading the James Pattersons, of course, but also saying, "Hey, there's a lot of good stuff out there." >> So Katrina, thank you. I'm looking forward to this music program. >> You'll have to come. >> I will. I'll have like your busy schedule. >> That's okay. I
mean, I love music, so I think I'll I will definitely check it out at the farmers market field. Awesome. [Music]
