Hey, we're outside the Ashland Public Library. It's Thursday night in July and we're going to take a workshop. We're going to bring you inside to see what's happening at the Ashlin Public Library. And it's all part of a brand new series called It's Happening at the Ashlin Public Library. >> Hey Paul, how are you? We are here. My name is Mina Jane. I'm the director of the Ashlin Public Library and we are here making mocktails. Our very first opportunity to do so with the community. As you can tell from be behind me, people are having a blast. They've made four different cocktails. And um they're just getting to know each other. They came in as strangers and they're going to leave as friends. So um we're going to be starting a monthly series, a weekly

series I think with uh Waka TV about it's happening at the library because so much is happening here and we want everybody to know about it. So, we hope you come and um do things like this or anything that we do. We'd love to see you here. >> Uh we're at the Ashlin Public Library. Um and the event tonight was making mocktails because we wanted um a fun activity that would draw people to the library um who maybe otherwise wouldn't have come here. Um, and also, um, we have a bunch of fun mocktail books for people who want to have fun when they can't drink. And we thought this would be a great way to try some out and see if any favorites pop up. I'll start with the first one I made, which was

the mermaid refresher. That one is really good. That is something I would drink at the mt totally would absolutely drink that. All right, now the mojito. Oo, that one's really good, too. >> Again, >> basil syrup. Brute basilic. I don't know. It's French. >> Yeah, that sounds >> me familial. I don't know. >> And what kind of cocktail are you making? >> I am making a watermelon basil cooler mocktail. >> One and two. Okay. And then we're on to lime juice. A tablespoon of lime juice. I know what this is. >> You guys doing okay with this? >> Yeah, that was kind of aggressive. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. >> Less is more with the basil. >> Okay, so that's one. And then two. That's the watermelon juice. And now we have our zero proof tequila. >>

Two tablespoons. >> That coffee is concentrated. >> Flavors theoretically is agave. Garnish with one ba with basil. >> A basil. >> Nice and spicy. >> Me, so I trust you blindly. >> That's pretty cool. >> Yeah, >> it's actually pretty good. >> And it doesn't have bubbles. >> It doesn't have bubbles, which I like >> from a foodie perspective. >> It's a little >> It's definitely a little spicy, which is great. The the chili is fun. Feel like I'm getting a little flush, but that's from the chili, but it like mimics. Isn't that kind of cool? >> It's all the flavors come at like a different time. >> Mhm. >> It's like a roller coaster. It's like a roller coaster. >> Like a roller coaster. >> Yeah. >> Yes. We're making a mermaid refresher. mermaid.

My first time ever doing this. >> And what do you think that's supposed to be reminiscent of? All these drinks seem to be >> uh like what you'd get at at a pool party or at the ocean when you're on vacation, except they're non-alcoholic. >> So, what's the first ingredient? >> The first ingredient on this is blue punch. >> This blue punch. >> I don't think I've ever had blue punch. >> Probably pour this all over myself. >> And then we just follow these directions. Stir in one tablespoon pineapple juice. >> Oh, that sounds good. >> And top with a/4 cup of selzer. I'm just going to eyeball this. >> Done. >> Why did yours turn green? Uh >> oh. >> I did this. I never thought you'd be such a thing you did. >>

Okay. Yeah, you'll have to ask them. >> Tastes good though. >> And I came because I really enjoy the social events that the library does and it's a great chance to meet other people around Ashlin. >> Um, plus I think it's like really fun. I have a lot of friends who in college didn't drink and so we would always do sort of like madeup mocktails, but now I feel like I'll have more talent going into our next get together to be able to like bring that fun sort of element of a drink to the party without having to make it centered around alcohol. >> Yeah. So, I'm going to taste it right now and see how it is. But I had a lot of fun making it together. >> Yeah, >> it's amazing. I mean,

>> the combination is awesome and we really had fun making it. The Hawaiian drink. I think that's dominating everything. And a tint of lemon. >> Uh the lemon uh rum one. The rum. Yeah. I like the taste. Yeah. It's very refreshing. >> Yeah. The chili and the basil and the tequila. Yeah. That's my favorite. Tequila is my favorite. >> So, what do you think that one is supposed to taste like? >> Uh spicy. >> I also like the mermaid refresher. I think that's lighter. It's very good. My my second favorite is the little chocolate martini. >> Okay. >> You've been through the mocktail workshop. >> Yeah. >> Can you tell me what your impressions are and what your favorite cocktail was? Mocktail. >> Um I don't remember the names. They said they were going to

give them to us afterwards that way. But I I actually like the spicy spicy one. >> The spicy one. >> That one. Even though I know the chocolate drink seemed to be the most popular. Now, have you been to events at the library before? >> Oh, yes. I enjoy coming here that way. They do awesome job. >> What are some of the events they do at the library that you would recommend to people? >> I I like paint paint night. >> Yeah, >> paint night's good. Um, they have good book clubs that way. Um, there they have different different types of, you know, like speaking groups and things that way. Um, that way. And I was going to say different crafts that way. So, I was going to say, um, we do felting that way,

like different animals and stuff like that. So, it's a lot of fun that way. >> Now, I notice it's getting pretty loud in here. >> Yep. >> Do you think there's a placebo effect kind of going on with the even though these are mocktails? >> Oh, people mean like I say a few a few groups. I almost think so in that way. It is funny. Yeah, >> that way. My name is Sahana and uh my favorite was the spicy one with the chili. The >> And if you were to describe it, how would you describe it? Like from a foodies perspective? >> It was very nice and it gives you a little bit of a uh chili flavor and it's nice spicy. So I'm having it for the first time and I enjoyed it. >>

We're going to a like cheering or clapping type of thing. So, if your favorite was the chocolate martini, raise your voices for this one. >> Slightly unfair to me. If your favorite was a mojito [Applause] >> mermaid refresher with the Hawaiian punch. If it was a watermelon basil cooler with
