[Music] Hello and welcome to a very quick update from Around the Clock. I'm your host Jalanda Greavves. We are outside the Ashlin Public Safety Building and we're here to talk about a great upcoming event. We are here with Deputy Chief Lynn Morgan. Lynn, thanks for coming. >> Oh, my pleasure. My pleasure. Thanks for, uh, stopping by to visit the new public safety building. >> It's always great to have a conversation with you and one of our newest police officers, Officer Manny Tusano. Manny, uh, welcome to Around the Clock and to Ashland. >> Excellent. Thank you so much. I appreciate you coming here. I appreciate you, uh, having us on here and, you know, talking about a wonderful event that we have coming up. >> So, we, the police and fire are working together to do

a public safety night. They do it very Oh, I think almost every year you've done it. >> Yeah. Yeah. It's been a tradition for sure. Yeah. We've done it for many years and uh the officer was taking the lead this year and and we're all pretty excited about being involved with it. >> So, Manny, you've taken the lead. So, give us the tease. When is it happening and what can people expect? >> So, it's happening on August 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the middle school in Ashland. And what we're looking to do is just basically get more involved with the community, showing them the different assets that we have available to our community from multiple different agencies around us and also some local businesses coming out to assist us as well. That's

some fun stuff and activities that we have planned for that day. >> And who is this event geared toward? All a ages, families, who who should who should plan on attending? Everybody should should plan on attending this wonderful event because it's going to have a little bit of mix for things for kids. It's going to have things for some of the techie people. It's going to have things for some adults that would think that are really awesome to see. So, I don't want to spoil it too much by giving you too much information. We want everybody to come on down and see the event for themselves and see what they think of it. >> Okay. So, police and fire are going to be there and you've said some other um who else from the town

side will be there, Lynn? >> Okay. Um, so I'm sure the DPW is going to show up one of with one of their big yellow trucks for kids. Always always a big spotlight for any events. Uh, Manny has the list. I think the outside sheriff's department's coming. Uh, who else? >> Um, Metro is going to be coming. Um, they're going to be assisting us because they assist a lot of different communities uh, within the area. So, they're a vital asset to what we do. >> And, and who is Metro for those people who may not know? So, it's the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council and what they do is they're made up of different uh police departments um within the uh you know various counties around and they assist any type of with any type of

critical incident events and things like that to um our local towns and communities. >> So, are they involved like when we do the Boston Marathon or big events like that? >> Correct. They'll be out for stuff like that. they'll be out. Uh they have different things available like drone units, uh dive teams, they have um canine units. So they have so many different assets available that sometimes it's a little tough for you other communities to have all those assets. So that's why it's nice that they're a regionalized unit that can help out in various different ways in whatever communities need me. >> Okay. Now, it sounds like there's some great information and some great things for people to see. We all know there needs to be some food. >> Yes. >> So what is being

provided for food? Who's going to take that one for me? >> Food or beverage or >> for the kids? We have an ice cream truck coming. Well, I say for the kids, the little kids and the big kids. >> What kid doesn't want some ice cream? >> Absolutely. I think that's going to be the the hot item, especially if it's warm. Y >> uh we and a couple of food trucks are going to come. Uh and is there a mocktail? Did I hear something about a mocktail? >> Yes, there'll be a mocktail trailer there. >> So, we're keeping it PG for sure. Yes, absolutely. >> Safer. >> Do they need to pre-register or can people just show up? >> No pre-registering required. You know, we have uh we're sharing it on Facebook right now. So,

you'll see every day some different vendors that are being part being shared out. And we have um an event uh page listed on there as well so people can see, you know, check to see if they want to come, you know, and we asked everybody just come out and check out this wonderful day that we're planning on having for the community and showing them what type of assets are available to the town of Ash. >> Great. Okay. Anything else you want to add? Yeah, I just I just want to say that the the public safety evening has always been a big hit in the community and we just f I've just found over the years and Manny's new to the community that the the community is expanding so much that we're kind of running out

of space. So I think the the concept of using the the parking lot in the middle school is really going to uh give us the ability to bring in our partners and show them uh in in in in a positive way that they provide so much support for us on a daily basis. It's great that not only the police and fire, we partnership so collaborate so well together, but it's always fun for us to do something fun and entertaining and for the community to be able to come out and see all our awesome trucks, uh, police on fire, DPW, and then of course all the partnerships, uh, to come into town for a fun event. >> Excited about it. >> Well, that sounds like a really fun event. So, put it on your calendar for

August 5th at the Ashlin Middle School. So, it's off on West Union just before you get out of hop uh out of Ashland. Uh and hopefully you'll come and see Vanny and Lynn and the rest of our public safety who will be there in attendance. So, we hope to see you on August 5th at the Ashley Public Safety Night. [Music]
