001Hello clockers. Welcome to another segment of WACA news blog. My name is Hi Silver and today I'll be giving you a brief summary of the Ashlintown manager newsletter. Starting off with the Pawn Street roadwork alert. The 126/ Pawn Street streetscape project is nearly complete. Key work remains at Algangquin the Culver and landscaping during the week of July 7th. Expect 24-hour cruise, daytime lane shifts 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and night closures 10:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. with detours. Please plan accordingly and drive safely. And some Independence Day closures. All municipal buildings will be closed Friday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day. Normal hours resume Monday, July 7th. The MBTA zoning versus 40B housing. There's been some confusion between MBTA community zoning and 40B projects. Both are state mandates involving affordable housing and zoning, but

002they differ in process and purpose. Reminder, current 40B projects are developerdriven, not town initiated. A summary chart is available for clarification. The road condition survey is underway. BL Companies and Beta Engineering are surveying every Ashlin road using AI and camera systems to assess pavement, sidewalks, and curbing. This data supports the town's pavement management plan to prioritize repairs and optimize costs. Also, the recycling drop off is postponed due to the holiday. The next recycling drop off will now be Saturday, July 12th at the DPW on Ponderosa Road. Accepted items include oil-based paints, motor oil, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs. The Girls Incorporated STEM STEM and leadership camp will be held July 21st to 24th. Ashlin is partnering with Girls Incorporated for a STEM and leadership program for girls ages 13 to 15. It includes workshops, public speaking,

0033D design, and more. The cost is $250 and lunch is included. For town positions, we are now hiring. Some open town positions include the director of prevention and human services. Light and heavy equipment operators at the DPW and maintenance technician. Apply now on the town of Ashland website. Last week, you voted and Paddington in Peru will be the featured movie at the back to school night on September 5th at the corner spot. Also this week we will be honoring Chief Bob Gonfred. Ashlin is saying goodbye to a true hometown hero. Robert J. Bob Gonfred. Former Chief of Police passed away on June 22nd at age 86. Chief Gonfried began serving in Ashland in 1965 and became chief in 1973, leading the department through over two decades of growth, including the opening of the current station

004in 1978. Even after retiring in 1994, he remained active in the community, serving on the police chief screening committee, leading the Ashen Lions Club, and coaching youth hockey for 15 years. In 1994, he was named Grand Marshall of the Ashlin Day Parade, a reflection of the deep respect and affection this town held for him. Chief Gonfried gave Ashland his heart in uniform and beyond. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Joan, his family, and all who knew him. Read his full obituary at milfordailynews.com. For town manager coffee hours, we have some coming up. Meet town manager Michael Herbert for an open conversation on July 16th, August 20th, or September 17th at 10 a.m. at the Ashland Community Center. Very exciting. The Ashlin Summer Concert Series is back. Kickoff is Tuesday, July 8th at Stone

005Park with back Packages and Inky Fair. Join us Tuesday nights all summer for free family-friendly music. The Christmas in July book sale. Visit the Ashlin Public Library July 5th for the summer book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Donate gently used books and stock up for the season. The corner closet donations. Kids clothes are needed. We're still collecting children's clothing only on Tuesday, July 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the corner spot. No adult clothes, please. We have plenty. The CIA volunteer call. The friends of the Council on Aging need volunteers to support senior programs. Contact Candy Wilson at the senior center to help out. Also, some youth prevention input is needed. The Decisions at Every Turn D AE Coalition seeks community input to improve youth health and reduce risky behavior. Take the

0065-minute anonymous survey online. Coming up, some exciting library events for adult programs. We have Maong at July 2nd at 600 p.m. The ESL group July 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and the book sale July 5th at 9:30 a.m. And for kids programs, we have Minecraft Madness July 1st at 4 p.m. Minecraft Day July 2nd all day and coding class July 5th at 11:30 a.m. That's it for today's segment.
