001[Music] Hello clockers. Welcome to another segment of WACA news blog. My name is Hi Silver and today I will be giving you a brief summary of the Ashlintown manager newsletter. Some news you need to know. Affordable housing groundbreaking on Main Street. Exciting progress this week as Habitat for Humanity broke ground at 487 Main Street. Local leaders, community members, and Habitat staff gathered to celebrate the start of construction on a new energyefficient all-electric single facility home. Thanks to a generous land donation from the Galani family, this long vacant lot will soon house a deserving family and bring new purpose to downtown Ashland. Volunteers will be needed. Stay tuned for ways to get involved. David Rosen Bloom. on the affordable member of the affordable housing trust in Ashland and our goal is to get affordable homes built

002and uh in Ashland and uh these by affordable these house uh these houses are subsidized they're available at a a very steep discount to the owners and that discount is passed on through the years to owners in the future. here. And actually, I think this is the first house we've uh we've done. And uh I think this is the first uh new construction that the trust has been involved in. Yeah. And uh unfortunately, it's the Ashland Affordable Trust. Uh we'd like to change the name someday maybe to the uh Ashland Workforce Housing Trust, but uh that's up to the state of Massachusetts, not us. But uh we're excited about this project. It's taken a long time, long history on this property as a bunch of other folks have mentioned, but thanks to David's efforts and

003connecting uh the owners of the property, uh the trust and uh Habitat for Humanity without David's efforts, we wouldn't be here today, but it's great that we are here and we're excited to see this project uh get started. So, when you say, you know, housing for workforce, like what do you mean by that? So, uh, you know, unfortunately when folks think affordable, they think, uh, low income and, uh, folks that are in in dire straits, uh, the affordable trust and the affordable programs in the state, uh, are income and credit driven. So, you have to have good credit scores and a good job. Uh and there are certain guidelines in terms of income, but Ashlin being in the Boston district set up by HUD, uh the income qualifications are substantial. Uh a goodsized family can

004make close to six figures and qualify. Unfortunately, we don't have the inventory, but uh that's what we're working on and uh this uh this project here is is a good start towards that. And uh it's a good program and we're we're proud to be members of the trust. Coming up with some community events at the Corner Spot, we have Pups on the Spot and the summer kickoff.
