The heritage and technologies of the Waterberry Clock Company, US Time Corporation, Warren Telecron Company, and Timex Corporation. So, we're taking a break from the marathon and we are inside one of the clock towers. That's the white you see in back of us is the back of it. And this is the last clock that just recently was replaced. Joe, you've been in town for a while. Can you give us a little bit of history about the building? Uh thank you
002Yolanda. Uh if my memory serves me right, this building was uh constructed in the uh early 40s. Um as part of Henry Warren's uh teleon which then became uh General Electric over the years. Uh this was a vibrant location. The building was completely utilized by uh General Electric the making uh the electronic motors and the faces of the clocks and the clocks themselves. here uh a lot of the painting of the clocks and the hands of the clocks were done offsite in Ashland at another location and they were brought back here uh for assembly and there were many assembly lines and everything was done by peace work so you were paid by the piece not by the hour. Yeah, the mani family had a history working in this building and uh it's nice to see
003it being utilized again. Yeah, there's a lot of space being used uh a lot of different offices and um you know different places for people to come and do stuff. It's certainly not the same as it was before, but it's nice to see that the building is still here and still being maintained. Absolutely. It's nice to see the outside grounds being maintained. Over the years, it hadn't been. And uh it was nice to see I think it's Parsons that is running the uh building or maintaining it. Uh keeping it up and planting it and taking care of the lawn. It's a it's a nice fixture in downtown. And uh I'm glad they are restoring it to the respectability that it once had. [Music]
