Okay, Madam President. We had some celebrations. I mean, we that this March board meeting was full of a lot of really great things. 90 over 90 students and families were there to be recognized for national championships and state championships. And there were some really great cookies that I didn't even get to eat. You know, so I mean, but the thing is the kids seem like they had a great time. Do you want to talk a little bit about our two cheer programs? You know, that that list we kicked it off with with a lot of exuberant Well, we already knew we had great things happening on our campuses with the cheer programs throughout our district. However, Caney Creek has definitely been leading the way. They've brought home our first state championship in cheer years ago

and last year I believe they took second or third and then this year anyway, that it's it's been on it's been coming. This is a long time coming. And what was really exciting was to see College Park come out of the gate with a national championship in Orlando, I believe, but it was the East Coast. And then a few weeks later, there goes Caney Creek on the West Coast to bring home a national championship. So we ended up and not only did we get history made that we had two schools in our district in the state when national championships, but they we also had our first state championship in the coed division not state national championship in the coed division. Well, that was a really cool thing to have made so much state history the

other night. >> And they're great kids. That's the cool part. I mean, it's just so much fun to celebrate the Abby and her kids, you know, and I mean, it's just all of it was just fantastic. It was really neat. Those kids are where they are as as champions because of the coaching that is put into them. Abby Constantino and her team and coach Jackson, amazing coaches with that. They are they're doing great things. >> Absolutely. And you know, the Woodlands High School girls are state champions and they've been state champions 13 times. You have to have coaches that come in and do this and this is amazing. >> It's a legacy. It certainly is. And then, you know, you think about the the college and you know, I want to continue on that process,

you know, Oakridge had like one kid and two state championships. I mean, that is so incredibly awesome. That is so neat. I said at the board meeting the other night when I said, "Conroe ISD, are we getting tired of winning?" And the word was, "No. We are it was it has been amazing the victories we've brought home. Well, you know, and it we kind of wrapped it up with wrestling and I mean, it's really cool. We had an even two for two. We had, you know, the the Woodlands girls had had team had had had a state champion and then we had the College Park girls team had one kid with her third state championship and she's actually on the national team and I watch her on Instagram cuz she's just follow on Instagram cuz

she's the funniest kid in the whole world. She's great. I apologize. I'm trying to remember the young man who was the freshman, his name, but he's on the I'm pretty sure he's on the Olympic Pan Am team as well. And so we have two. Yeah, and the thing is is that you know, you're saying the winning's going to continue. It's just it's just a exciting time to be a part of that. So you got two for two, three for the College Park and then that was that was neat. And then we just started celebrating principals. So we kicked it off with with Bradley, you know, and you know, she was she's with her hands and she's coming over. It that's going to be amazing. And then the Suchmos were there. Isn't it nice we have

the Suchmos family that come and visit? That's so nice. Yeah. Yeah. >> And Nick Crawl's going to be the principal there and then Cox Intermediate and and Tina Majeski just seems like a heart for kids and a lot of instructional strategies. She's going to be great. One of the things we want to do is continue that growth of leadership. Coello and she was coming from Rice and then she's going to be our new Travis Intermediate principal and we're we're happy about that. And then Stockton Junior High, somehow, you know, you know, Jared is a Texas Tech Red Raider, so I'm always interested in those guys, but he's been I didn't I didn't realize he was the assistant principal of the year for Texas. Yes. Carlton Todd, Dr. Todd, and Dr. Hostetler both took state awards

last year as I believe principal and the Yes, so it was and the associate or assistant, whichever way it goes, principals. Well, and then, you know, York, which, you know, filling big shoes to fill and we brought in somebody, Dr. McWashington from Katy, and we we called those the superintendent there and they just wouldn't get off the phone how much they were just thinking that we got the steal of the century as far as that goes. So we're excited to have her. You shared her picture on Facebook and I replied back with, "This one's fire." She she's professional. She's got good sense of boundaries, but bringing in fun, she's she's got so she's got such a great reputation and I'm telling you, put on top of it, she's one beautiful lady. I think she's going

to do great things there. I think it's going to be a great experience. And then, you know, Miss Grand Oaks actually, you know, Sarah's been with us for a long time and it was really nice that she's going to go and get be the captain of her ship over at Grand Oaks 9 next year. That's going to be really awesome. That was actually a good comment for her, Miss Grand Oaks, because Miss Dorsey has definitely been a fixture there since it's opening and this is the next move for her. It's really neat. I love that when that happens and especially affection for that place. And then, you know, the thing is that we have a new football coach. That's >> [laughter] >> people really care about that in Texas and Michael Burrell comes us from

this from the San Antonio area and Northeast ISD and heard lots of great things and that's another big shoes to fill. They had they had such a great season this season and it's so nice that you we have the kind of place where people want to come, right? That's right. >> neat. And then mascots, we like the owl. Owls represent wisdom and knowledge and learning and so it's appropriate for there, especially the heart and passion that Miss Arnold had for for learning and her passion for special ed and so this is perfect, I think, for her school. >> I think it's going to be great. >> be, I think it was the sea turtles, then the next best thing would have been. Well, you know, and I was fighting for the turtles for a long

time. No, but it is it's funny. Just give everybody a hard time. You know, the Lin Cartwright Junior High and the Cougars, we we're working on the coolest cougar mascot that we can provide. We haven't got that yet, but it's going to be neat and it's nice we work so closely with the families and then but we also do those those surveys and over 50% wanted wanted that that cougar, so that's going to be great. >> I was ready for the Colts, Chargers or something else to go with that feeder, but Cougars won. That's exactly right. The people have spoken. So we had a demographic presentation. This is one of my first rodeos, but I think that from the reaction of our principal or our board members, it was a it was a welcome thing

and I think it provided a lot of information. It was fabulous information that came forward, especially because the community is concerned with what they're seeing across the state with schools closing and things like that. I think it was important for them to know that we are paying attention. We are mindful. We are watching our own numbers and frankly, our numbers are really good in comparison to other schools districts across the state. I'm glad that we are being proactive. We are staying in front of things and not going to be caught behind again. Absolutely. And that's really awesome. And you know, we kind of wrapped it up with a couple of other things and we had a chance to talk about some exciting news with regard to an update as far as our our reading of

curriculum in in kindergarten through fifth grade and then another and then we had our beginning points of our curriculum audit. Do you want to talk a little bit about that? I'll keep this very simple. It's extremely hopeful. It's the results because they're not necessarily a whole apples to apples, you know, when we're trying to look at this and they don't totally equate to formal final success at the end of the year. The thing to take away is that it's strong. It is. >> We're moving forward. We're we're doing great and we're giving the opportunity for all children to learn through a strong high quality curriculum. And the thing is is that I'm I know that you one of the things y'all expressed over the presentation is how proud you are of the teachers and our

kids and these district leaders have done such a great job of making it happen. They really have. I will tell you the rollout from the central office administration all the way down to the boots on the ground, they they made it happen. They've done this with fidelity. They've put their hearts and souls and hours into this and I couldn't be more proud of them. I'm going to say this. I've The board couldn't be more proud. Sorry. I've I've completed four audits in my time as far as the process is going and built new curriculums and I couldn't feel better about where we are in terms of the hard work and dedication of everybody and everybody being together. I usually in these when you're when you're implementing a new curriculum, you see a a drop, a

dip and we haven't seen that and then all all all indications are that uh that our kids and our teachers are awesome. We're going to do some good things. And then we you know, the you know, I always we're going to someday stop talking about audits, but we had a really helpful and informative personnel audit that we had just wrapped up and you know, one of the things about it is that when we look at our data and we look at our things, we look for the ability to make sure that all of our campuses have what they need and then we also look for the notion of, you know, where can we move and change and and from this we're going to, you know, I I we're up to about $6.5 half dollars in

terms of our savings and then also making sure that our team we have the right places and the right teachers and and that we're we're we're following a balance and it also offered some opportunity for us to clean some stuff up and clear some stuff up. And so it was really cool. It was. I know that the board's big task that we gave you was to please look at what we have, who we have, where we have them and what could we do better to help in the classroom. Because the fact of the matter is when our teachers have the support and what they need educational outcomes will come. Absolutely. >> And and this was our goal and wherever you all find that that is the best place for everyone is we trust. But Conroe

ISD is its own district. We cannot make decisions just based on what other districts have Yeah. and how they use personnel. And this audit looked at what other districts have compared it to what we have but then said, "But we're not using them the same way or effectively and we could use it these person personnel elsewhere and be more effective with our teachers and that's the best thing we could have ever asked for." >> Absolutely and I'm very proud of the progress that we've made and the things that we've been able to do and the the future's bright. It is so bright. It is so hopeful and it feels like it's it this it's perfect time for this information to all come out because it's spring and great things are happening and I'm just going

to shamelessly put a plug in that we have a professional job fair on March 28th. Please come out if you want to be a part of something growing and glowing and doing great things. We're excited here in Conroe ISD. Come be a part of our team. Next month we're going to be talking about the Texas standard at our board meeting. We're going to talk about budget. But actually the thing is is we've managed it in such a way where we're going to be financially prudent to what we're doing and give you some solid numbers there and I look forward to it. It's awesome. Awesome time in Conroe ISD. We'll see you next time.
