We'll now move to agenda item number three,  consideration and possible action to hire Dr. King   Davis as superintendent of schools for Killeen  Independent School District. Trustee Gilchrist.   Mr. President, I move that the board of trustees  hire Dr. King Davis as a superintendent of Killeen   Independent School District. We have a motion  by Trustee Gilchrist. We have a second by Madame   Capito. Any further discussion by Trustees? There  being none, all those in favor, show of hands.   We have seven in favor, none in opposition.  Congratulations, Dr. King Davis. And welcome. And now we're going  to let you say a few things. Wow. Okay. Where do I start? Now I would be  remiss, as you guys know, I have to start with   my Lord and Savior. I'm on assignment, guys. This  this is a ministry for me. It always

has been. I'm   going do my best not to be emotional but, because  many, many years ago some public school educators   impacted my life and changed the trajectory  of my life. So I wholeheartedly believe,   this is a great, in the words of Horace Mann,  that its the great equalizer. We truly give   children the opportunity to change their lives  by way of a powerful education. And so I sit   here before you tonight and, sharing with this  community, I will give you my best every single   day. I know it's a tough road ahead, guys, but we  can get it done. This is a shared responsibility.   And as I've said before, there are lots of great  things happening at Killeen ISD, and we got to be   able to share that narrative. In the same breath  I shared with this

community, I've shared before,   we have to face our current reality. We have  some tough challenges that we got to face,   and we will face it, we have the right team, we  have the right people, and we got to remember   the great majority of our staff and students come  here every single day doing the right things. And   for the small percent that does not, we'll get  that fixed. And we know what the challenges are,   guys. We got to face them and we're going to do  that. And I say to to the Board, thank you for   your vote of confidence. I don't take this for  granted. Uh again, I will give you my best every   single day. I know what's at stake. This doesn't  frighten me. I understand to whom much is given,   much is required. And

as I've challenged  the team, uh there's a lot required of us   and but there's been much given. We have a huge  responsibility. This community is dependent on   us. And again to community, I say to you all, we  need you. This is going to take all of us. Again,   I want to keep emphasizing that. And uh we're  going to get it done. And as I've told the Board   time and time again, and as you just heard Mr.  Williams, our Board President, say we will take   our rightful place in Region 12 and beyond. And  I don't say that braggadociously, guys. That's   I say that with boldness and confidence. And  we have to take our rightful place. We are the   largest educational institution in Region 12. All  right. And we will take our rightful place and we   know

what that means. So, let's get to work.  Thank you and God bless. Ladies and gentlemen,   King Davis is officially signed, sealed, and  delivered to Killeen Independent School District.
