006our community, serve our students, and make sure that we're all pedipped up for any event that's coming our way. So, I have Miss uh Cynise. She plays a very big part in our student council. She has won sweep stakes for 20 years, I believe. And day in day out, I mean, she's fully dedicated. I am so proud of her. Uh, and she does it, but she can every single day. And I'm proud to call her a staff member from RER Nation. >> On behalf of the Real Grand City High School Student Council, I am honored to share some of the incredible accomplishments our organization has achieved this year. 007community service, pride and patriotism and outstanding student council. Our council also achieved the position of district uh 16 and has the honor of being vice president school for the 202526 school year. this upcoming school year. Luis Mihadis will be our student representative for that position. It says, "We from the beginning, our goal was simple to make Grand City High School a place where students feel included, supported, and part of our community. Through through teamwork and dedication, we turned that goal into action. We have successfully organized and led some of the most memorable events on campus. From spirit weeks and pep rallies to homecoming celebrations and community service projects. Each event brought students together, strengthened school spirit and created lasting memories. But our work went beyond that those events. None of this have been none of

008this would have been possible without the dedication of our student council members, the guidance of our adviserss, and the support of our teachers, our administrators, Miss Monte Mayor and her staff and our families. Uh I have Mr. Wis here who will present his two students who did extremely well and uh Mr. Wis can you please come up? Good evening everyone. I want to take a moment to recognize a special group of athletes, the ones who show up here at 6:30 in the morning. While most people are still asleep, we're already putting in the work. That takes discipline, commitment, and a level of mental toughness that not everyone has. Powerlifting isn't easy. It demands consistency, focus, and the willingness to push through challenges day after day. What stands out most isn't just the weight you lift. It's

010the habits you're building. You're proving that success comes from showing up even when it's early, even when it's hard. These early mornings are shaping not just stronger athletes, but stronger individuals. Keep showing up. Keep working. It matters and it shows. We're proud of you. Better just competed at the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association 5A Division 1 State Championships, bringing home fourth place. Better is a three-time regional qualifier and a two-time state qualifier. Pablo Solis is your current THSPA region 5 champion as an and is advancing to state meet to the state meet in Abalene this weekend. He's a two-time regional qualifier and two-time state qualifier. Good luck. We're all behind you. We also have our basketball team who the girls basketball team. We have Mr. Gustavo Valenciana who has gone to the playoff 10

011times out of the 19 years that he has been at Rio High as a head coach for girls basketball. Uh these girls, I mean, they give it all their all in their court and I love to go see them because they're always so energetic and and they do their best wherever they go. So, Mr. uh Valenciana, you want to come and introduce your lady Rattlers? Uh, just a small correction. Uh, Miss Matayor, >> I get my stats wrong. >> Uh, I've gone to the playoffs 12 times. Not that I'm counting, but >> it was probably the two years shared that I was gone. >> Again, not that I'm counting, but I mean, uh, I just want to say about this team. Uh, it's a very, very special team. Uh, we were only eight girls. Uh,

012and some of you know, some of you might not know, I had an health issue uh, the month of November, right when basketball season went was going to start and I was out the month of November. Uh, I came back that uh, that, you know, last week of November, early December, we started district uh, almost right away and we got off to a rough start. We were 0 and3 uh, in 19 district and uh, the girls could have given up. They didn't give up. We ended up winning uh after the 0 and3 start. We won uh 12 out of the last 13 games and we were actually one game out of being district champs. So very proud of the girls for that sticking with it. As far as the team members, I'm going to say

013their names and and their all district uh recognitions. Uh first we have Caitlyn Gonzalez. Uh we have Katherine Avalo who was an all district all academic team member. We have Elena Ramirez, an all district all academic team member. We have Angelina Fleming, all district all academic team member and all district honorable mention. We have Lorena Chapa, all district honorable mention. We have Mia Rodriguez, all district all academic team and second team all district. And then we have Camila Gara, first team all district. And then we have uh Yuya Aldap. This young lady has accomplished a lot. Uh she was uh all district all academic team. She was selected to the all district defensive team. She was the 35A district offensive MVP. Uh she's an RGB basketball coach association 5A all valley first team. Uh she's

014a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 5A all region team. Uh she's a RGB Viper Salt Valley Showcase selection. Uh they play March 28th on Saturday at the Viper I mean at the Berdogen Arena there in Edinburgh. And then she'll also be part of the RGV Basketball Coaches Association 5A All Valley All-Star uh game in May the 3rd. Enjoy girls. 12. >> No, no, fail. I don't know who that is. >> Thank you very much. Uh, Miss Montayor, that will uh conclude the recognitions. Before you all leave, I do want to recruit and some drinks here before you all leave. Congratulations again to everybody um all the parents, the students, the teachers, coaches. Thank you so much for being here today and um receiving these recognitions. Section six, we move on to reports and information. Good

015evening, >> Dr. Barera, Madame President, uh, Miss Lupita Garza, superintendent. Sorry about that. Members of the board, and everyone here present. So this is um report on summer dual credit courses. >> Correct. Thank you. Okay. I'm here today to present to you all on um the dual credit instructional plan that we have. Okay. For our students receiving an associates degree with their high school diploma. Basically when students are freshman the fall semester they take their TSI. TSI is a test to see if they are college ready. They pass their test. second semester, spring semester, they can take two classes. Okay? Now, sophomore year, they can take four classes. They can take and the reason, I'm sorry, the reason I am um giving you this information because based on this plan, we do not have a

016summer and they can still graduate with their associates. Okay? Now, um sophomore year, they take their classes plus four more classes, okay? For duel. Junior year, this is when it starts getting harder. Junior and senior year. Junior, senior year, they take four classes plus their core curriculum at their high school. Okay? It's um English, they take English, math, history, and biology. Fall, spring, fall, spring, fall, spring. Okay? This is what they take. If students fall, they follow all of this, they will be able to graduate with their associates without having a summer class, without taking summer classes. Okay? if they follow them. Now, last year, let me see where I left it right here. Last year, we had 58 students graduating with their associates degree and their high school diploma. Okay, following this, right now,

017potential graduates, 52. That's what we have right now. Okay, this is following no summers. No summers. Last year, we did not have any summer whatsoever. We did not offer summer classes whatsoever. Okay, that's last year at all. When did we stop doing summer classes? >> Last year they said nothing. The previous year I believe they only had two classes at early college >> and the previous year that's when we had so three years ago. >> Three years ago. >> That's when we stopped. >> And I believe it was because of the you know financial crisis situation we had. >> The situation. Yes. >> But I mean moving forward we can always go back and and and uh check on that situation the financial situation and we can see what we can do >> to help

018our students. But I'd like to uh thank you for supporting our students. because of you, we've had these students graduate uh with their high school diploma plus their um associates degree. But um any questions that you might have right now, this is the plan we have so far. You know, >> I've got a question for you real quickly. Let's say you have a senior that's missing one class as he's going into his senior year. You say he can't take it in the summertime? >> In the summer? No, >> we don't. >> Can the parents pay for it? >> And right now, okay, last year they started with that. We cannot. No section, but can we revisit that? Yes, we can. >> So, they're missing one class to get his associates. They cannot make it up

019in any form or fashion. >> We would have to meet with a counselor, meet with a superintendent, with the CCMR director, myself, and have a meeting with the parent and then we will the decision will be made on the board. >> And let me last question is what what's the logic of the parents want to pay for the class, what's the logic of not letting them take it? >> Right now, that's what was decided based on the financial situation. >> Has that ever Miss Rodriguez occurred in the past maybe two years? I know you just came in as a director and I don't see Miss Flores is here. Uh I'm sorry, Miss GarcA. Uh but has that ever occurred in the past when we're not offering summer dual credit courses, but if the parents are

020willing to pay if there is a way that as a district we can still offer that? >> Yes, they used to do that. They used to do that. Now it's depends >> on board. And I think that is something that like Miss I'm sorry to interrupt you, Miss Rodas, but I think it's something that's very important. And I think if it was let go about three years ago and it was because of the financial situation that the district was in because I'm not sure if you have any numbers to share there how how much uh you know we were having to allocate uh every summer based on these dual enrollment classes. However, uh it is not to say that as a district we want to be able to offer all these opportunities for our students.

021That's what it's about. It's about offering more opportunities for our kids. So at the end of the day, I mean but we do need the time. I I can't just sit up here and make a decision without talking to my to my team and looking at everything that we have to review before I make this recommendation. But it is something that we can honestly look at and you know take a look at it once again. >> Now I have a question or >> Yes. >> Uh is this decision that these these students that don't finish by their end of the school year and they're lacking let's say like Mr. says one one credit. Is it a an STC decision or is it a district decision that uh came about that final decision? >> The the

022final for a summer school is that for summer school or >> Yeah. >> is the district >> district decision. Yes. >> So the the the SEC will offer the class if the parent pays for it. >> Yes. But they they came to us. Whatever we decide they will go with that >> the board decides. >> So two things I don't like speaking in hypotheticals. If a student has one credit left or whatever, do we actually have statistics to that effect? We have numbers that say >> do you have some numbers to share what we pay back in the >> because I see some numbers over here with five. I see I see hand gestures and I just if that if there are five well then say that don't you know don't don't speak in hypotheticals.

023I like to say there's five kids then that's that changes the story that changes the the the impact that you know that we're talking about up here. But they also said it could be re revisited. So it's not something that said it's final. >> Yes. I need correct. I just don't like speaking in hypotheticals. You know, I like correct, you know, have numbers so we know have an idea what we're dealing with. >> Yes. >> How many students will be >> again? Let me just ask like I say, >> if if the parents are willing to pay, it's no cost to the district and they're missing a class or two to to get their associate. It don't it makes no sense not to let them pay for it and get their associates. >> Exactly. We'll

024revisit. >> We'll revisit that. I want I do want to see numbers, Mr. Rodriguez as to how many of those students you know happened within the past three years that this was the situation that actually you know we did this for. So I would like to see numbers please if you can get that for me and we will be meeting on this and then we'll make a decision >> as to uh whether we can bring those dual credit courses back especially if the parents are wanting to to pay for that and it's not going to financially burden the district in any way. >> Yes. Yes. >> I agree Miss Gara definitely with what you're saying. We could definitely look into that and make sure that if it's not a burden, you know, because the reason

025we cut this was because of our financial burden that we had a $17 million deficit uh for such a long time, but if it's not going to be something that's going to burden us and the parents are willing to do it, I I honestly don't see why we can't work something out where where they can they can do that if if they wish. >> All right. Thank you so much. >> Yes. Thank you. We now move on to section seven, public com uh comments on agenda items. >> Madame President, we have one public comment. Uh that's Eduardo Science. >> Mr. Science, you have five minutes and we may begin. >> All right. Uh seems like I've done a little more research than Miss Rodriguez here. Uh the reason I'm here is because my daughter Victoria

026needs 12 college classes to graduate. I talked to uh she talked to Mr. Pratt. Uh we have that information. She can take five classes in the fall, five classes in in the spring, and she needs two. La Hoya, Sanicedro, and Roma are all offering summer classes to their kids. Roande is not. We just found that out. I went to go talk to Missani Selenas and Miss Leonor today asked them, "Are you giving summer classes to your kids?" "No, we're not." So then I went to go talk to Melissa Salenas. She sent an email to Miss Dani Salenas requesting permission to off uh to go into summer school. You're going to be surprised with the cost. Uh to get 18 kids to take summer school this summer, we're talking about a grand total of $5,000. That

027was the five that you were looking at, Mr. Ramirez. $5,000 is what it would cost to educate kids at STC 18 kids this summer. And like I said, the email was sent to Miss Dani Salenas. Right now in my daughter's class, there are 12 kids. I've done a little bit more research than Mrs. Rodriguez. 12 kids that if given the opportunity to take summer school this year as juniors, they will graduate with an associates pending that they pass all the classes. next year, next May. I'm an advocate for kids. You all know me. I was with the district for 40 years. Students come first. $5,000. Really? Is that a financial burden on the district? I saw your your uh video uh March 4th workshop. According to the plans that Miss Robas presented, right now the

028district has utilized 51% of the of the budget. If you follow the monthly expenditures, if you divide it by eight, you're talking about 6.2 million a month. If we follow that from now until the end of this uh budget, you will have a surplus of $23 million. And if we can't afford $5,000 to send 18 kids to to to college, where is our priority? Well, that's my concern. Where is our priority if we cannot afford $5,000 to send 18 kids to school? There are 12 kids that need the summer school as uh as uh juniors. The other six can be seniors. We even talked to an SDC rep. It's called catchup to to uh finish with your associates and if you're behind, it's called catchup. the students can catch up to take the classes that

029they are pending. I mean, if me as a parent can get all this information, you all can do the same thing. You all are parents. You have sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and if you're like me, you would turn mountains to try to get your kids to fulfill their dreams. My daughter's dream right now is to get her associates when she graduates next year. I'm hoping you guys will afford her the luxury of doing that. Half of you have my telephone number. Hopefully by Friday I'll get a phone call. It's Mr. Science, your daughter's going to have the opportunity. And not just my daughter, the 11 other kids at early college that have the chance to graduate with an associates. Imagine the recognition that RGCGISD will get. The privilege, the honor, the satisfaction of having 12

030additional kids that that you already have your kids that are meeting meeting their criteria to graduate with their associates. Now you can give 12 more the benefit of joining that elite group, graduating with an associate degree from high school. That's a dream I never had. I have I have six brothers in my family. Five of us have master's degrees. That's an honor for my family. I'm going to have a daughter that has a chance to graduate with an associates. Never in my lifetime would I have figured my daughter would have that opportunity. You guys can grant her that opportunity this summer. And like I said, 11 others. We're just in March. We still have April that you all can meet and make a decision. And then you have May to afford them the luxury. And

031like Mr. said, "If the district doesn't want to pay, I'll take the burden on my daughter. I can't take it on the other 11, unfortunately. Uh, but I'll take the burden. I'll pay for my daughter's classes if the district can't handle it. But imagine 12 additional people can graduate with associates for $5,000, even if you double it, 10,000." So, that's why, and know I'm glad Miss Mr. Rodriguez spoke. Uh, so you already have a little idea of what you're uh what you need to discuss. >> I do have time, Mr. Science. >> Thank you. That's it. Thank you. >> Thank you so much. I think I got the the gist of my uh my deal. Thank you all so much. Retirement is awesome, guys. I had to throw that in. >> I know where you're

032coming from, Mr. Pñena. Thank you, Mr. >> Look at the big smile he has. >> All right. Thank you. Uh we will now move on to section eight, consent agenda items. for consent agenda um consent items listed on the agenda that was previously discussed and presented at the board workshop at this time. Can I have a motion to approve consent agenda items A through D? >> So move. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor raise your right hand and motion passes. >> Matt, I'm I'm voting against. >> One against. Motion passes. Now action item section nine item 9 a I consider and take possible action on ACE2 middle school 8th grade Washington DC trip >> presenting nobody's presenting >> I'm I'm sorry I don't have an item here to

033be able to discuss it I'm not sure who's the one that has this item >> it's a travel request for A's middle school >> okay I guess I just we don't have specifics, but I guess what we are requesting is that we do approve the trip that is coming forward soon. I'm assuming sometime in May. >> Yeah, I think this is a trip that kids organized. Um, >> yeah, they do organize. I just have that that you know specific information if y'all were to ask me anything. >> I have the decision making from here. >> Uh, good evening everyone. Uh so this is a travel request from AC2E middle school for the eighth grade Washington DC trip and this will be taking place from Saturday May the 23rd through Wednesday the 27th. All right. Can

034I have a motion to approve item 9A as presented? >> So move. >> Second. >> I'll second it. >> Any questions? All those in favor raise your right hand. That motion passes. Thank you, Miss Roodles. Now, um finance item 9B I consider and take possible action on CSP 2612 digital billboard. For the CSP 2612 digital uh billboard, we had this item under consent agenda. However, we had tabled it. However, we are deciding to reject all bits so that we can rebid on this uh digital billboard. Uh we have uh engineer Clomido Inohosa overlooking the electrical part of the digital billboard and so that is why we are deciding to rebid. >> So the recommendation is to reject bids and to go out and rebid >> right. >> Okay. So we do do need since that's

035the recommendation we need a motion >> to reject and rebid. >> All right. Can I have a motion to reject and rebid? So move. >> Mr. Pñena. Yes. >> And a second. Second. >> Eddie. All those in favor raise your right hand and motion passes. Item 9B I consider and take possible action on CSP 2614 fire hydrant replacement and evaluation services. >> Again uh this CSP for the fire hydrant replacement and evaluation. We also had it under consent agenda. We had tabled the item. However, we are recommending to reject all bids and resubmit or to rebid uh after the district meets with the fire chief so that he can make a recommendation as to the number of higher hydrants that actually need to be replaced instead of all of them. >> All right. Can I

036have a motion um to reject and rebid? >> So move >> and a second. >> Second. >> All those in favor is your right hand. And motion passes. Item 9B I I consider and take possible action on CSP 2616 vehicles for reality city Guru ISD transportation department. The request for proposals for vehicles for the school district again was under consent uh agenda to table. However, we are making a recommendation to reject and reit in order for us to include more local u vendors. >> All right. Can I have a a motion? So moved >> and a second. >> I have one question real quickly. Yes. Why is there such a discrepancy on prices? I saw the prices like there's a big big discre discrepancy. >> I wouldn't know, sir. That's not under the control of

037the purchasing department. However, the vendors decide how much to bid on those. Uh >> okay. I'm just saying there was an $80,000 difference in it from and I found that >> well on the first one of course they did not submit a bid for item four on one of them. So that's the first discrepancy that we see there and then from there on uh we just want to include more >> and Mr. rejecting the bid and going back for reasons because of the big discrepancy. >> I second the motion. >> All right second >> Jesse. Yeah, Jesse. And all those in favor, raise your right hand. >> And motion passes. We continue to curriculum and instruction item 9 CI. Consider and take possible action on school improvement targeted improvement plan. >> Good evening, Dr. uh

038Bara, board president, Mrs. Garca, superintendent, and members of the board. I'm here presenting on this item on behalf of Mr. Jesse Rodriguez. Currently we do have well in accordance with TEA requirements campuses identified for school improvement are required to develop implement and monitor a school improvement plan. Currently we have John and Olivino Host Elementary which has been identified for additional targeted support and Alberto and Selia Elementary for comprehensive support. Both are required to submit a TIP targeted improvement plan. We also have Laon Elementary and Ringold Middle School who have been identified uh with as targeted improvement campuses and must submit a lip local improvement plan. Mr. Rodriguez has uh put together this uh presentation that I'm going to quickly go through and it's a pathways to student success and what they've been work he along

039with the principles have been working on at these campuses. So why are improvement plans required? Um the the local improvement plan is just locally required for campuses to receive an that receive an overall D-rating under the state accountability system which we don't have but we do have um campuses that got identified for targeted support and improvement or additional targeted support in this case JNO. And then we have the uh targeted improvement plan uh for John and Olive and for Alberto and Celia because they are full comprehensive um campuses. These are their campus accountability snapshots. So like I said JNO and ACB they are requiring a tip whereas Lon and Ringled require a lip and those are their letter grades requiring for such this is the improvement plan process that they uh Mr. Mr. Jess Rodriguez

040along with the principal and region one have been working on uh at the beginning of this year they did establish campus leadership teams conducted a needs assessment at each campus develop their improvement plan they did submit to TEA and region one by November 11th and now it's before you so that you can approve and they submit by March 31st next week. Now components of the improvement plan. It does uh contain a needs assessment summary and stakeholder engagement asurances, analysis of student performance and accountability data, campuswide student outcomes, identification of underperforming student pops, district and campus leadership roles and responsibilities, the school improvement strategy, focus areas, milestones, progress monitoring, fiscal responsibilities, adjustments, reflections, and end ofear analysis. And this is just a few things at each campus that have been worked on. They're pretty much similar

041uh but some campuses do have distinctive uh pieces components that they are focused on but JNO uh is engaged in lasso cycle 3 grant. They do have uh the till Texas instructional leadership grant. They are also participants through the strong foundations implementation grant blended learning. They do have tutorials and extramies as well as adsy. They do have edpire for data analysis campus campus leaders leadership team weekly meetings after school planning sessions shining together series that Miss Garcia the principal put together for parents stakeholder meetings and they also qualify for the last cycle 4ft and lift add-on for next school year. Same thing with ACB Alberto. they um were tied in through the 1882 initiative even though we're not moving forward with that this year. They we still have the support of region one uh where

042we had um support there on campus twice a week. Then they also uh participate in the strong foundations implementation grant blended learning tutorials as well as extramies and ATSI uh edspire for data analysis campus leadership team uh weekly meetings stakeholder meetings as well as uh recipients of the lasso force cycle lift and add-on for next school year. Lion Elementary, same uh concept. They do have region one support that have been uh strengthening their PLC, strong foundations implementation grant, blended learning grant, as well as tutorials and ads, edspire, campus leadership weekly meetings and stakeholder meetings as well. And Ringold Middle School, their local improvement uh plan, they are also um have the region one support because they were part of the uh Texas partnerships 1882 initiative. So for this school year they do have that support

043in strengthening their PLC's and engaging in uh observations and coaching feedback region one coaching support instructional coaches which has been uh vital at the at their campus tutorials and adspire for data analysis campus leadership team uh weekly meetings as well as stakeholder meetings and also will benefit from the last cycle 4 lift grant for next school year. Next steps, ongoing progress monitoring towards established goals as we near the end of the school year that the goals that they set at the beginning of the school year are met. Strategic action and adjustments based on data improve outcomes for all students and exit the school improvement identification after we get their star scores this year. Thank you. So with that, uh, administration respectfully requests the board approval of the TIP targeted improvement plans for JNO and ACB

044and the LIP local improvement plan for Loun and Wrinkle Middle School. Thank you. Can I have a motion? There's >> a move, Madam President. >> And a second. >> Second. >> Any further discussion or questions? >> Just a quick comment on when you're going through a school improvement or targeted improvement plan. I know that it entails a lot of work. I I experienced it myself and it takes a lot of the principal's time and your team. So my suggestion would be to our leader Miss Garca if you can provide some type of uh uh you know somebody to support them how through they're going through that process because it is a long process it is a very tedious process and it takes a lot of time from them from their from their regular duties as

045if they weren't overwhelmed already and this I mean we can just give them that support that they need while they're going through that process. >> I I have a question ma'am. Uh I noticed that one of the campuses is is on this support I think got a B. Why would that campus be on on that? >> It's uh that was Ringold Middle School. So they got um targeted on their I believe math continuous uh uh the data on the math students. So it's even though everything on the accountability spectrum can look good but if we miss the sped population uh when it's continuously year after year that's when and it after three straight years we get flagged for it. >> Do we get funding for this? We not that I uh we get support. So

046we do get uh the support from >> but we we get funding to pay for the support. Correct. >> Oh yes. Yes. >> Okay. >> And with the with the lasso grant we were able to also uh since we already have those agreements with region one they were able to further other supports even a little like add-ons. Um I know with Ringold Middle School with the gear up we also got a lot of extra support through there that still help in that aspect. Yeah, because I was I was going to emphasize there's no additional funding. It's it's funded through last three grant and this is basically to be in compliance with TA. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. All those in favor raise your right hand and motion passes. Item 9 C I I consider

047to possible action on lasso 4 lift agreement with region one. Okay. So this item uh it's for next school year. Uh we are asking the board to approve our agreement with region one uh with the lasso 4 lift. So this particular grant does will be working with 13 uh campuses all our elementaryaries and our four middle schools. Um included also there's two agreements that you have. One is for the lift and then the lift add-on. The add-on is just for JNO and ACB to strengthen their PLC's. We already have an established relationship with region one. Uh they've been um supporting us this whole year with the lasso cycle 3 uh in our elementaryaries. So, we're just extending that to next year because now it's the next phase which is the lift. >> All right. Can

048I have a motion to approve item 9 CI as presented? >> So, move. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. >> Any questions or discussion? >> This is a three-year grant. Am I Am I correct? It's a three-year grant. >> Yes. And it's contingent every year as long as we stay in compliance. So, for the first year, it's that million 91, but 70% is going to region one. What what year are we in? Monday. >> What year are we in? >> Year one is next year. >> Oh, year one. >> They got two more years after. >> Got it. >> All right. Thank you. All those in favor, raise your right hand. And motion passes. >> We will continue with maintenance and operations. Um action item 9DI, consider and take possible action on district

049auction. >> Good evening, Madam President. Mrs. Gara, superintendent of schools, members of the board. The district has identified equipment that is no longer in use due to age, condition, replacement through updated purchases or operational changes. And we are respectfully recommending approval to proceed with a public auction so that we can, you know, get rid of these items that we no longer use. >> Auction is tentative for May 2nd at this time. >> May second. I think that's a very good idea to get rid of um all the stuff that we don't we don't need. >> Absolutely, ma'am. >> All right. Any questions, discussion, anything, Jesse? Any questions? >> You're good. Okay. Uh can I have a motion? >> So move. >> And a second. >> All those in favor raise your right hand. And motion

050passes. Thank you. And now health services item 9E. consider and take possible action on school-based interventions region one grant. >> Good evening, Madam President, ladies and gentlemen of the board, Superintendent Gara, staff and community members. So, I'm here requesting um you know permission to buy a more more equipment for our schools. I came a few months ago and we um we bought some some physical activity equipment that we can use in our recesses. We should be arriving this week and hopefully delivered by the end of the week to our campuses. This is the second phase which is more items. You know, they dispersed the they gave us the funds in in in portions. It was 5K and then 10K. So, uh we're hoping to purchase the remaining items to continue to to increase physical activity

051to help out our kids be as healthy as possible in our secondary schools. >> If I may, I want to list a few of these items. It's the volleyball, it's >> tether ball, it's pickle ball, you know that that paddles, >> paddle ball, >> paddles, right? >> All that stuff. Yes. So, we want them to be uh happy, healthy, and enjoy the recess as much as possible >> because something we approve and I it's it's good to read them out, you know, just so they know exactly what what we're purchasing. >> Yes, sir. >> And and did we say what schools it was going to be? >> It's going to be our middle schools and high schools. >> Middle schools and high school. That's awesome. Okay. >> Any questions, discussion? >> All right. Can I

052have a motion? >> So move. >> Second. >> First second. >> Okay. All those in favor is your right hand and motion passes. >> Now item 9E III considering take possible action on purchase of bleeding control kits. >> I came in August as well to buy some bleeding control kits. So a few years ago, we bought some bleeding control kits and we bought them in two different phases. The first ones, the first batch that we bought were for the ones that expired. And now these also is going to be another batch for the the ones that are going to be expiring as well. >> Replacing those. >> Yes. >> I have a question, sir. Do you train the do you train the employees on this bleeding cage? >> Yes, our nurses are trained yearly and

053I believe our police office uh police officers have it. It's for somebody that would be the reasonable person to act to help out somebody in god forbid any situation. >> And it's coming from a a grant, right? >> Yes. Uh these these funds will be coming from safe grant cycle 2. >> All right. Any other questions, discussion? >> It's $8,000 give or take. >> I I believe the it's going to be $7,700. >> Okay. >> Can I have a motion? >> So move >> and a second. >> I'll second that. >> All those in favor, raise your right hand. And motion passes. Item 9E I III, consider and take possible action on purchase of AED battery pads, adult and pediatric. >> So a few years ago as well, we purchased some brand new AED machines.

054The ones we had previously were very old and they didn't even make the parts anymore. So, uh, believe in 2021, 2022, we purchased some AED machines for all across the district where we're required to have it and including our athletic, uh, department like, uh, we we take AED machines on on road trips for football games and stuff like that. So, it'll be for every campus and also our athletic department. >> I guess they're check they're checked often, right? Or how often are they how often are they? >> Replacing them after 2021. Now, we're replacing them again 5 years later. >> Correct. Yes. And we we do monthly inspections on them to make sure that they're working. the the the AED battery is working, the pads are not expired. So, yes, we do that. >> And

055this is for what, hurricane? >> Um, god forbid we have to do CPR on a person, we have to put ads like a defibrillator. We need to update them. We need to renew. >> How many of these do we have in our district right now? >> We have about 34. >> 34 be replaced. >> They're all over the campuses. All the all all districts have one and we have them at our our gyms the >> where they play basketball >> and they're we're replacing all of them. >> Yes, sir. >> And it's at a cost of about I think if I'm reading this right 14,000. >> Yes. So we're not we're not replacing the actual ad. It's just the battery pack and the and the pads that go >> and those should last us about

056another five years. >> Another four years and we figured out >> correct correct me if I'm wrong. Many many years ago one of those packs saves a man's life. Correct. In >> I believe in Gurua High School many years ago. Yes sir. Um, we great thing to have at our districts to help everybody out in case we ever need it. >> All right, any other questions or discussion? Can I have a motion? >> So, move >> and a second, >> Paty. Um, any other questions, discussion? If not, all those in favor, raise your right hand. And motion passes. >> Thank you. We now move on to section 10, executive session items A through E as listed on the posted agenda under Texas government code sections 551071 through 76 and 551082 through84. The time is now

0576:22 p.m. And we now are in executive session. >> The time is now 7:52 p.m. and we are back in open session. May I have a motion for each of the following um uh items? Uh item B, discussion and possible action on resignations, retirements of existing personnel. >> Madam President, I move that we approve item B as discussed in executive session. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor raise your right hand and motion passes. Item D, discussion and possible action on matters related to superintendent evaluation and contract. Madam President, I move to adopt the superintendent's evaluation and contract amendments as presented in executive session. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor raise your right hand. >> Madame President, I want to abstain on

058that one. >> All right. Motion passes. Item E, discussion and possible action on matters related to student expulsions. >> Move to approve item as discussed in executive session. >> Second. >> All those in favor is your right hand. And motion passes. We're now move to section 12, public comments. >> None. Thank you. And um do you have any announcements? >> Just a few announcements.
