Hi, my name is Kenneth Userie and I serve as a McKenna ISD school board trustee. Every month after our schoolboard meetings, we love to provide our community with a brief overview of and a summary of the events and the items that we covered throughout the meeting. The meeting was called to order with the announcement that we had a quorum present followed by an invocation and the pledges led by school board trustee Stephanie Odell. The board recognized so many students and staff last night for notable accomplishments. It was really exciting to see all the great things that our student and our staff are doing, including our McKenna ISD school resource officers and armed security officers. We appreciate so much our SRO's and our ASOS for the vital work that they do every single day to keep

our campuses and our students and our staff safe. Next, we handed out the we are McKini ISD Superintendence Award. Congratulations to Andrea Vartto Lomeo from Vega Elementary and Raul Perez from Scott Johnson Middle School. Well done. Then we handed out the Every Student Every Day Awards. Congratulations to Wyatt Merritt from Wolfford Elementary and Stella and Izz from Walker Elementary. And we gave out the heart of the team award. Congratulations to Kim King from Mccclure Elementary and Lindsay Rouselene uh from DAE. Then we recognize the schools who won the Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas Award. That's quite a mouthful. Better known as the Crest Award. This award is sponsored by the Texas School Counselor Association and it recognizes outstanding school counselor programs across the state and serves as a tool for continuous growth and

advocacy. Next, we honor the McKini ISD counselor of the year. Congratulations to Angela Stevenson from Frasier Elementary. Then we recognized our 10 McKini ISD students who were selected as the Texas Music Educators Association all state participants. Next, we recognize the Texas Thesbsians, national qualifiers, and the McKini North Drama Dogs return to the state main stage for an astounding third year in a row with their production of Noises Off. McKenna ISD was named a premier community for theater education thanks to the great work of our McKenna ISD theater teachers. Great job, guys. We also recognized our UIL state cheer winners. Not just one school, but two here in McKenna. Congratulations to the McKini Boyd High School cheer team and congratulations to the McKini North High School cheer team. And our final recognition of the night was

the educational results partnership honor roll district and honor roll schools. We are proud that McKenna ISD was named an honor roll school district and the following schools were named honor roll schools. We had Menchu Elementary, Wolfford Elementary, Fabian Middle School, and Scott Johnson Middle School. Amazing. Great job, guys. Following the recognition, public comment was heard on agenda and non-aggenda items and then the board entered into closed session. After reconvening, the board heard a public hearing of the taper report and college career and military readiness by Jennifer Akens. So much phenomenal information in that report. Additionally, the board heard a strategic plan update on pillar five, communications from Dr. Shelley Spalding. And let me just say, we've got the best communications department of any school district anywhere. Great job, guys. The board then reviewed the consent

agenda and moved into the discussion and action portion of the meeting where we first approved the consent agenda. We considered and took action and approved Superintendent Pratt's contract. All the information about his contract will be on our website. We are so thankful for the work that Superintendent Pratt and his team have done over the past three years. The trustees then reviewed monthly written reports including donations under 5,000 and also bond, energy, construction, transportation, human resources, and the PK12 math and science reports. Upcoming district events include our regularly scheduled board meeting on March the 23rd at 6:00 p.m. and the location is the McKenna ISD Community Event Center. The meeting was adjourned following these items of business. Those are the highlights from this month's meeting. Thank you for all your interest in McKenna ISD and the

great great great work that is happening within our district.
