001Hello, Melissa ISD community. I'm Dr. Bill Gray, one of your board of trustees, and I want to welcome you to our [music] board meeting highlights from February 9th, 2026. We began the meeting with pledges led by students [music] from Harry McKillip Elementary, Keith, and Joy Laorey. Next, we recognize individuals with Cardinal Commendations. Students from East [music] Cardinal Middle School were recognized for the positive example they set for others, while staff members were honored for their dedication to students [music] and campus culture. The MISD Police Department celebrated its classroom superheroes from each elementary campus. These students set good examples for their peers [music] by doing the right thing and prompting safety on their campus. Next, we heard several important reports [music] and updates. Principal Kim Cole shared her principal's report highlighting how students and staff are
002feeling the love in February [music] by celebrating kindness through a variety of fun activities. She also discussed efforts to engage both the community and staff through upcoming [music] sit with us meetings. Athletic director Seth Stinton reported that New Balance would be the official uniform supplier for the athletic department. Walter Perez explained how the opening of elementary number six helps to [music] level enrollment across all campuses. The district will look at opening enrollment to all MISD [music] families. The information will be coming soon. Mr. Lakey shared about the renovations at Cardinal Residence [music] Academy, including updated painting, new carpet, new playground equipment, and turf. [music] Coach Dill shared progress on the Melissa High School arena and [music] happily reported that the project is on schedule and under budget. Work is being completed on sidewalks, [music] stairs,
003lighting, and more. Board President Paul Anderson delivered the board report, sharing his enthusiasm for [music] the upcoming Special Olympics track meet in April. He highlighted what an incredible event this is for our students [music] and the entire Melissa community, celebrating the spirit, determination, [music] and unity it brings to our district. Lastly, Superintendent Keith Murphy recognized and celebrated our boys and [music] girls wrestling teams who both were regional champions moving on to compete at state tournament this past weekend.
