001Hello Melissa ISD community. I am Amy Fagan, one of your board of trustees, and I want to welcome you to our board meeting highlights from [music] November 17th, 2025. We began the meeting with pledges led by students from Sumeir Elementary. [music] Next, we recognized individuals with some cardinal commendations. Library media services coordinator Carrie McGomery [music] recognized our MISD campus librarians for their hard work and commitment to excellence. Diagnostician Stacy Pucket recognized Melissa High School resource [music] teacher Amy Forney for her dedication to helping each student reach their fullest [music] potential and the difference she makes in the lives of her students every day. The principles surprised [music] Mr. Murphy and Miss Bodcker with presents for Superintendence Day, thanking them for their grounded leadership, vision, and dedication [music] to our Cardinals. Next, we heard several important
002reports and updates for the principal [music] report. Sumeir Elementary assistant principal Laura Arenss highlighted student successes, recent campus activities, and [music] commended staff for their dedication to students. Kenny Deal, executive director of [music] operations, gave an update on the ongoing construction projects across the district, including an update on the MHS [music] arena, which is coming along nicely. Transportation Director Kim Wowers reported on the grant application process that would help retrofit all older buses with seat belts. Jerry Wharton and Lindseay Pittz [music] shared an update on the middle school reconfiguration process. The plan establishes two 6th [music] through 8th grade middle schools starting in the 2026 2027 school year. The board approved several action items including the approval of the 2025 tax role [music] and approval of policy update 126. That wraps up our November board
