001Hello Melissa ISD [music] community. My name is Omar Landram, vice president of board of trustees, and I want to welcome you to our board meeting highlights from October 20th, 2025. We begin the meeting with pledges led by students from [music] North Creek Elementary. Next, we recognize individuals with some cardinal accommodations. North Creek Elementary Principal Erica Parker recognized fifth [music] graders Bailey Nelson Walker and Roco Dlo for their outstanding leadership and character. NCE fourth grade teacher Ashley [music] Okconor and campus office manager and registar Julie Vong were honored for their hard work and commitment [music] to excellence and heart. Director of Nursing Hi Vinner then celebrated Samir Elementary nurse Rachel Hogan and Harry McKillip nurse Audrey [music] Santo for the dedication and the standard of care they provide to the young Cardinals that visit their clinics.
002Lindseay Dey was honored with a differencemaker award for her character [music] and many contributions to Melissa schools. GT sixth grade students presented their business proposal to the board to purchase 3D printers. And right after the outstanding presentation, GT coordinator Amanda Daniels and director [music] of IB Nancy Predomo surprised the students with the very thing they asked for, 3D printers. Chris Comnock [music] from Wipeout Kids Cancer then presented an award of gratitude. We also welcome new reserved officers [music] sworn in by Chief Chris Fontana, Officer Christopher Bradley, Officer Jacob Dudley, and Officer James Taylor. They celebrated this moment with their families as our campus staff cheered them on. Chief Fontana then Sergeant Laura Robersonson for all of her tireless efforts in serving Melissa ISD. She was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Next, we heard
003several important reports and updates. Our CFO, Dr. Brian Walton presented our school finance with the annual first report. Then the board heard a proposal for consideration for [music] two 6th through 8th grade middle schools for the 2026 2027 school year. The board then approved the annual employee incentive [music] which is $1,000 given to employees in November. Each board member approved the appointment of a community member to the sitebased leadership advisory committee. This committee assists the district in ensuring that the local community values are reflected in each school library catalog in the district. That wraps up our October board meeting highlights. We invite you to our November board meeting on Monday, November 17th [music] at 6 p.m. in the Melissa ISD boardroom. As always, it's an honor to partner with you as we work together in
004the best interest of our students. Let's go Cardinals.
