Told at 6:00, we're going to call this meeting >> A pen? >> Pen, all that drawer right there. Right there, under your hand. >> April 20th, 2026 Board of Trustees meeting to order. Quorum is established. Everybody but Josh is here. Eric, give us an indication. >> Sure. Lord, we thank you for your goodness, for your mercy. Lord, thank you most of all for being our Lord and Savior, God, all the blessings that you've you've given to us, Lord. We thank you for that. Thank you for um this community, Lord, and those here tonight, those in our district. Thank you uh for each of them. We just ask tonight for a for a special blessing on on each. Lord, I ask that you turn your face toward us, Lord. Shine on us, we pray. We pray

that you would direct us throughout the night as we as we tackle these agenda items. I pray that you give us wisdom, direction throughout. Um and that we would be led by you. Uh give us uh clear thoughts, easy expressions as we discuss, Lord, and guide us to be in your prayer. We pray. Amen. >> Please rise for the Pledge. For the Pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> John, you here for the paper citizen? >> I'm only here for the paper. >> Okay. I guess we're going to move to 5.1. Everybody have a chance to read the previous minutes? Did you find any mistakes? Okay, I didn't.

>> There was a mistake. >> Uh I guess comparison of revenue budget to budget. >> Okay, um if you'll if you'll look at the We're doing really well. However, I just want you to And if you know, everything's cost more now. Uh I heard uh Alex this morning I brought her the milk ticket from the elementary school and handed it to her. She said, "Oh my gosh, this has gone up." So, food's gone up, fuel's gone up, materials and supplies have gone up. So, we're going to be close with our budget, but right now we're right on on track to to come out okay. I guess in the past over the last couple years ago at about this time of year, I'd come to you and say we're going to have a surplus and this

is some things that we can do with our surplus, but I don't think there'll be a surplus and I think it's we're going to be very, very fortunate if we come out even this year. And if we move to >> I have a question. >> Okay. And since our last board meeting Okay. You're fine. Uh $189,991.41 have been paid in taxes and we're getting close to um getting all of all paid back. We operate the police these months on the income from taxes and after that we'll start getting our state out of it. We're doing well. >> How many months is it in? How many months is it in? >> 7 6 7 >> I wrote down on the board. >> Yeah, but >> 7 >> in November, December, January, February, March. Okay. >> 7

>> I guess it's 12. >> No, we started in September. >> Yeah. >> We worked on it all in August so so it feels like >> And it's 12. >> Yeah. >> It feels like it should be. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Anybody have any questions on consent agenda? >> Do we have a motion? >> Sure. >> So move a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> I'll second. Uh Turtle made a motion, Derek seconded to approve the consent agenda. All four. Passes 6 to 0. Uh Campus reports. >> Well, we're just pretty much the same as we were last month. We're testing away. Um tomorrow is our last star test and we're glad for that and then we move right on to map testing. Um lots of field trips and so fun things coming ahead

for the kiddos, but it's been a stressful month so we're ready to get to the end of that. Um also just kind of to talk a little bit about attendance. Right now we're currently I'm only counting students that we get ADA for. I'm not counting early head start, daycare, all those. But right now we have 293 students in attendance that we are collecting ADA for. We do have I believe it's six students in pre-K that are paid that they pay monthly I believe 350 a month for 10 months. August through May. And so the thing is though with the attendance what it really gets us is right now we're at 95% in attendance which is lower than I would like for it to be. We have just been I feel like it's been kindergarten one

grade after another that seems like they get hit with something and right now we're battling the stomach virus. Um but we do a lot of things to try and keep children there but you know at 95% that's 15 students that we are not getting paid for. And but we're still teaching them and I know I'm preaching to the choir but we just because a child is absent doesn't mean we just say oh you were absent. It's a lot of makeup work and there's just not enough time in the day for a teacher to take time away to re-teach a concept that they missed. So we have some students that have missed over 30 days. And it's just it's some of that. I'm sure that y'all may battle some of the same things out there but

anyway but we we do a great job and the teachers do a great job in trying to keep them all on track but um anyway that's pretty much I don't really have anything else to talk about. There's not a lot really There's a lot going on but not a lot that's really different. >> And Faith was not feeling well and jumped in Chuck's truck and >> I have I have this sheet sent to me and the middle school is sending us to start testing this week with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math. Um they started math testing to measure the end of year growth. For the teachers who have completed STAR, those contents are extending their learning by reviewing their TEKS with activities such as reading would be reading a novel together and applying inferencing

and writing skills. Social studies at 6th grade is continuing with maps and chart skills while 8th grade is studying about the upcoming 250th American birthday celebration. Science, the 6th, 7th, and 8th are finishing up all their TEKS and working on some labs. Uh they are planning end of year grade level awards and ceremonies uh and 8th grade promotion ceremony with the high school signing ceremony. I don't know if I can talk more about that. Uh and then the dates for the 6th and 7th grade are 10th and right now 8th grade will be May 15th uh for their awards assembly. And the spring concert will be Tuesday the 6th at 6:00. Uh for the high school, we are at a 94% in attendance uh and we have 174 currently enrolled at high school. All end

of course exams are complete except for Algebra 1 and it is tomorrow. And then we will be completed with all our STAR end of course exams. Uh Wednesday at 4:00 in the high school library that uh safety and security team will meet. So, please put that on your calendar for 4:00 on Wednesday. It's not a super long agenda, but it's always a good one and then we get to do kind of like a table top. Kind of like we'll talk about if this happens, what do we do? Just to test ourselves. Uh and so it's a it's a really good meeting. Uh one of them will be competing this Sat- uh this week in regional competition in Denison. They'll go tomorrow after school cuz they do their tech rehearsal on Wednesday and then their performance

is at 11:30 on Thursday and they will sit and wait for everybody else to finish, and midnight probably the results. So, Lester our academic UIL UIL also be in Denison this week and they'll go up Thursday and Friday for academic kiddos that made advanced up. And so, we're super proud of all of those kiddos. April 27th, we'd like to invite everybody to bingo the Spanish way. So, the Spanish club is putting on their bingo and it's free to play. Anybody can come in and play, but they're going like a meal for a fundraiser. So, the Spanish club has asked me to know if we would promote that. And then, April 28th is the high school GT Expo at 6:00. If you have not been to one of those, I would highly recommend you put that

on your calendar. That is really good. They each student will pick a certain topic, and then they have to become that topic and teach you about it when you go to them. And it's been really good the last 2 years. This last year was a wonderful one. It was wonderful job. So, 6:00 next Tuesday in the cafeteria if you get a chance to go. And it's a come and go. So, if you come 6:30 and just work your way around and then it's not a stay to do anything special. Just visit with all the kids and and come and go as you please. Uh May 3rd is going to be our baccalaureate and it'll be at 3:00 at the First Baptist Church. And then, we'll get into all of our banquets some of that coming

after that. And And are you going to talk about track and softball and all all that? Okay, then then I will be done because hopefully Chris will pick up where I left off. >> And the senior walk is fine. >> The senior walk is good. >> Yes, and then there's the tech. >> The tech. >> Lori, is GT also doing something with them? >> Yes, that is next week. It's next Tuesday. >> Okay. >> Yeah, the little GT and I art both together. So, people can come and just walk through. It's just going to be in the hallway and it's going to be in the library. >> Okay. >> Sherry's going to put all of her art up and Amber's going to get a cheeky project stand up, so >> I'm not telling y'all that

that I heard MAP testing referred to as smarter than my August 5th test. >> Smarter than my than my August 5th test. >> We'll hope so. >> Um, progress. Yes, we're wrapping up our spring sports seasons, and so um, we got some kids going on track, um, finish out the season strong, and advance some kids over to uh, area. Had three boys make it out of area, and so uh, Max Jones, Harley Pinkard, and John Ringel will be competing at the regional track meet Springtown next Friday, Saturday. Um, so with Max's thanks sitting number one in the region and number two in the state right now, his time has broke school records the past couple weeks, so um, he's done a great job in that, came a long ways, and uh, um baseball team's off

and running. They'll finish up this year play this week. Have a big uh, warm up game on Saturday with the number one team in the state, Axtell. Um, good chance to go see what they're about, and get get a little competition before playoffs, and then um, the softball pretty much already dead set uh, match up with Albany next week in a series, so that'll probably be on Wednesday and Thursday with regional track meet Friday, Saturday. Um, and then softball, they will have a series with Bosqueville, um, playing two games on Friday night in Clifton with game uh, the if needed game three on Saturday. And so, um, starting to finish up the spring sports. Uh, had two guys advance in regional golf. Uh, Kade Meurin and Jake Cooper. Jake Cooper ended up finishing, I think

it was right around like 16th or something like that out of like 91 91 players, so um, had two really, really good rounds, and he two of his better better scores this year and did a really good job um, representing us well. So, we're kind of in the mode now of starting also work on preparing for summer next next school year starting to get things in line, summer camps, summer schedule. So, we have our big uh parent meeting at 5:00 next Monday on the 27th before the bingo um to kind of go over just all the paperwork and all the summer stuff that So, I was just telling everyone a year ago today at this board meeting I was getting accepted and now here I am. And now, I mean, we're so much further ahead

and so much further advanced than um in everything is in our athletic program and all of our sports and uh just uh getting ready for the next school year and summer and um last year I was just going around with my hair on fire and now we feel so much more prepared going into summer, but we're getting there and um so, we'll be putting a lot of information out here in the next couple of weeks and um spring physicals coming up on May 6th and then plus our sports banquet on May 4th and um but let's hit the ground running It's going to be next school year before we know it. So, it's not not really slowing down at all, but things going good. >> So, why not the senior night and there's only one

game, right? 6:00? >> Yes, yes, one game only tomorrow night for baseball. >> They don't have a JV. >> Tomorrow night's the egg muster probably playing pool at the Thank you very much, sir. >> Nice to see you. Do you have anything? >> Um not a lot going on. A lot of lot of things going on. Nothing new. It's just uh not eating money right now right this second, but TIA on Wednesday I'll know more on uh we we pretty much know, but it'll be official on Wednesday the designations and the amount of money and different things. So, I'll have a report on that for TIA the next next board meeting. But, um basically we're spending it while we can. So, it's all good. It's all good. >> Uh 4 29 hours and I saw

it was posted. >> I'm supposed to read that. >> I read it. Uh Daily on ice day, board of trustees continuing education credits as of April 26. Uh myself has 10 hours, Derek has 10 hours, Carol has 10 hours, Carrie has 12 hours, Josh has 16 hours and MJ has 16 hours. Thank y'all for the lunch today. We do appreciate it. Uh I guess going from there to facilities is okay. >> Uh everything's going well. We uh we have um we're putting in new car- new carpet in the middle school this summer. Um and that will be happening sometime in really the first part of June. And the people at the middle school site have time that that it it will be very nice to get that carpet replaced in there. Um we are working

toward uh enclosing the Lisa, help me. The the at the where the ag barn is, behind it, you know, we had just a shed, just a cover. And they're wanting to enclose it now that our >> Yes, the pavilion with a slab. It is between the old gym and the ag barn. >> Where the trailers are stored. Uh Uh, building construction um courses are are really taking hold and went well and that would really be conducive to to that. >> David had a place for the construction area to take place. Uh, the welding pretty much when they bring trailers in and different things it takes the whole the whole ag building for the welding basically because we have welding in there pretty much all day long. And uh, it would just be a place for

the construction to take place. >> And of course the slabs there the slabs for the old high school and and the roof is there. We did that when we when we built the new ag building and so really it won't be too costly but it'll be some cost involved. >> Yes. Yes. >> So we will be able to use some CTE money but probably not quite enough to finish it out. I will come to you just this is just a fair warning we'll they'll be coming to you probably next board meeting to tell you exactly how much you need and all that. >> I think it'll be a really good thing. Uh, our building construction classes really uh, the kids are very excited about it and um and they can be very excited about it.

Yeah. And so we're probably going to build a little house. So it'll be good. But anyway, I wanted to give you a heads up on that. Um one of my things that I have uh, worried over all all baseball and football things and and softball season is because we have a lot of covered building at the baseball field and I have peeling building at the softball field and David promises that next fall that he will he'll plan to do that out of next year's budget so that we'll get those replaced and looking nice because our fields are so beautiful and the lighting is so wonderful. Uh we need to uh, uh make that look a little better and and be a little more serviceable, but those are the the big things right now other than,

you know, refinishing the floors and all that stuff that that's in our normal budget we get done. Um Lori's bathrooms in our elementary are wonderful. It is it's just a made a huge difference in in that program. Um we don't have little kids going back and forth from the gym to the main building all through the day. And so that's really really really good. And um anything else that you all can think of that we're construction wise? We're converting a lot of your one of your labs into uh >> It is a It's a special education lab. >> That's the last one to do. >> Yeah, it'll be another >> And and they have all of it done except they'll have to do the restroom. They'll have to make out a make a doorway to

get to the restroom. Um but they're waiting on the new install. >> If it gets installed But we they've been working on that on the days when they couldn't work outside. They they've been working on that through through the year. So that'll I hope it has our growing population of our special needs children. And um everything else is going well. I'll I will say that the the applicants that we've had come through and several of them have commented on the how how clean our buildings are, how well organized they are, and and that they the facilities for a two-way school they think are exceptional. And several of them really commented on the white room. So they thought thought it was really really nice. But anyway, I I think that that the things that you all

have have made happen in this school district are to be commended that we have a nice place for kids to come and learn and and be together. >> Okay. I will I will I will I will continue to look for them. >> Uh next month. >> We we've got one coming up. We we I've enrolled you all for next month and it'll be like this one. I'll be able to send out of the recording and you can do it at your own time and then I send certificate. >> Uh moving down to action items. The donations and gifts. >> Okay. So, since last month we've had the Dilley Athletic Booster Club donate $10,500 for academic awards. Don and Dana Marable gave $7,000 for academic awards. Well, all of them are academic awards. Kent and Cecilia

Boswell gave $2,000. Todd and Carla Swellington gave $250. And Kent and Kelly Strawn gave $250. So, uh the scholarship fund is is going well. Uh we we lost a couple that that had been regular donors that that have are no longer able to to give, but we found some new ones and so I think that we'll have a really nice uh gift for our kids. I I guess it is a gift for our students tonight when they come to the academic awards banquet. And that is >> Do I have a quarter date? I don't know cuz it's >> I think it's like maybe the 14th. I think it's the day before. I think it might be the day before graduation. >> Um scholarship for >> Is it the 7th? Okay. >> Is it the 7th?

>> That was the letter I got today. >> Okay. All right. Thank you, John. It's the 7th. So, it'll be on the Oh, I know. what it is. The The uh Academic Awards is is that night. And then the scholarship is the seventh. Okay. Good. >> I just know first of May is the banquet season. >> There's a There's a There's something almost every single night starting May 24th. So, just get ready. Although, I think the sports banquet is actually the sports just a sports award get-together. It's not a banquet. So, you're athletic it's it's just You're just getting >> like a food and >> You're not going to We're not going to have a dinner. We're just going to do awards. And I think that's good because it it's so long when it's >>

So, we didn't have a sort of production. >> Okay. So, I'm going to ask you to approve the donations. >> I'll make a motion to approve. So moved. >> I'll second. >> Josh. >> Uh motion by MJ, second by Josh to accept the donations to the district. Uh all four. Passes six to zero. Uh consideration for certification provisional provision of instruction. >> So, you want to approve that? >> Uh yes. Yes. We have to do this every year. And uh I've got I did not send out the packet. It's It's very almost identical to last year. They had a few extra questions on there about the certifications. What it is is the resources that the campuses use uh to uh you know, to make sure we're covering all the TEKS and everything. And of course

you can tell by our scores we can't cover everything. But nothing has changed this year is what to like I said just a few extra questions but I have this one packet because it takes a lot of paper. If y'all want to look through it I will pass it around for y'all to look through but you'll probably Okay. >> You trust me Lisa. >> Okay, thank you very much. >> So uh >> I'll make a motion on the 17.2 as presented by Lisa. >> I'll second. >> Motion by Carrie and second by Terrell to to approve instructional materials as presented by Lisa. All four. Passes six to zero. Uh moving to personnel. Do you want to do it by campus? Do you want to do it by >> Yes. Is there a motion? >> Okay.

>> I'll second. >> Okay. Uh Motion by Josh, second by MJ to approve professional contracts as presented. Uh Uh, all four. I'm going to use my option to abstain. Due to conflict of interest. Uh, passes 5 to 0 with one abstaining. Uh. I guess now we go to the professional contracts for the new hires. >> Mhm. We have Annette Bates, uh, is coming to us for second grade. Quincy Lanham. Did I say it right this time? Lanham. For second grade. Only Andrea Ortiz is second grade. So, if you notice, we're replacing uh, both of our second grade teachers and adding one because of the the numbers worked that way. Um. Uh, Eliana Augustus is our PE teacher. Jeff Hendricks, high school special education {slash} coach. Bryson Tarpley, elementary PE {slash} coach. Bryson was with us

this year as a student uh, teacher. So, uh, he will come in as an old hand. Uh, Nolan Lanham is the husband of our second grade teacher. That's why we got that great coach because she's a great second grade teacher. Uh, middle school social studies and coach. They They both interviewed and they liked them both, actually. >> Interviewed and then they had to teach? >> They had to teach. They had to teach a lesson, so. Brian Cox, high school business coach. Carolyn Austin, resource coach. And that is a girl coach and she's going to be coaching softball. I mean, volleyball. Tasha Rudell Barton, uh, in speech language pathology, and that is for the co-op. So, those are all the brand new hires. >> Which Which ones are girls coaches? Just Austin? >> Austin, yes. We're

still We're still missing a girls coach right now. There's There's There's a girls coach in the next line after this. Okay. Um we're still looking for another girls coach right now. math coach John, if you find somebody that wants to teach sixth grade math and coach. This is And that would be an assistant coach. >> Some of those also boys and some of those help with boys and girls sports. >> Yes. Wait. >> The softball as well. >> Yeah, well, we've got that It's on the next line. I think they've approved this one too. >> You ready for a motion? >> I'm having a motion on 8.2. >> I'll second. >> Turn my motion turn on second to approve the post professional contracts for the new incoming teachers coaches. All four. Passes six to zero.

Uh 8.3 >> Okay. This is I wasn't quite sure that um these are changes of assignment, but I felt like because it did change so drastically that you needed to do approve these. Um So, Terry Grodahl, who is our science teacher at the middle school, and will continue to teach science in the middle school. She will go from 10 months to 10 and 1/2 months dual contracted and she'll be a coach / science teacher and she will be our head softball coach. Uh Lindy Tucker who is a teacher a math teacher I taught math at the middle school is moving from 10 months to 12 months as the high school counselor. >> I'll make a motion to approve 8.3 as presented. >> I'll second. >> Uh Josh made the motion Derek second to change the

assignments for Terry Grodin and Lindy Tucker all four. Passes 6 to 0. Uh 8.4 is acknowledgement of resignations. Uh Angela Morris, Lisa Cooper Landon Morris, Jordan Matthews, Dakota Shirley and Samantha Caden. >> That should say Angela Gooden. >> When I read I read that it said Gooden. >> Good God I have lived here all this time and now I just said I'm much like you all now. >> I called her Angela Morris. >> It actually says Angela now which is good. >> Well it's one of those I've read it with Angela Morris who's Angela Morris? >> Well there is actually an Angela Morris in you know that's what >> Well I'm telling you I've lived here long enough that I'm just a just like y'all because y'all do call her Angela Morris about that. >>

I'm not Memphis I'm the brown all of them. >> Anyway I apologize for that. So. So. And then do we need to go into executive session or what? >> I just want to get your I'm pretty sure >> I motion that we go >> into executive session. >> Okay. >> Yeah, 8.5 is I think we need to go into executive session. >> We're going to go into closed session >> 6:30 6:33 >> Thanks, everyone. >> Thank you all. >> Thank you, guys. >> Thank you. >> All right. >> I'll see you later.
