It's 6:05. I would like to call to the order the financial integrity rating of the Dion ISD school board. >> I I sent you a copy of it. Our school district was rated above standards achievement for the year. Uh this is a report that that we get every year about this time and it requires that we have a hearing so that people can uh see it and understand it. Um so we passed again just the only mister you want to ask any questions? >> No. Okay. I guess we need a motion to adjourn this one. >> Motion to 607. >> Are you looking for a second? >> If you want. >> No. Y'all need a copy of the >> There's an agenda over there. It doesn't have >> I've got it. Okay. >> In there.

Hope it's not signed in there. Okay. And it just keeps going. figured it out. >> Y >> I'd like to call to the order the school or Dillian board of trustees regular meeting at 608. Uh Cody Hodes and Derek Cwell are absent. school is you and Lisa. >> Yeah. All of our all my Well, two of my principles are real sick and one I'm in a doctor's appointment. >> No reason. >> Uh Fisher, we've only got one Is there any citizen participation? To my knowledge, no. Uh I guess we're counting the invocation. Bow with me and dearly father, just watch over us. Lead us. Guide us as direct us as we make good sound decisions for the district and the students. Just be with us as we go through and discuss the agenda that's present.

Just be with all the students as they're excited to get out for Thanksgiving break and just keep them safe from harm's way as they go about their daily duties and travel. In your name I pray. Amen. >> Amen. >> Carrie, would you please I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. consent agenda. Has everybody had a chance to review previous minutes? Did anybody see any changes need to be made? Okay. Comparison of revenue budget. >> You did not get this in your packet. So, I put I put a hand out at your place. The We're doing well. Uh we're right on line to have a really good year. Hopefully we'll um be able

to make up for a little bit of de deficit budget that we passed earlier and can ahead at the end. tax collections >> and this is the time of year from tax collections are very very low but it'll start picking up next month and the next next few months but we collected $7,421 Looking for a motion to approve. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. >> Uh motion by Ter, second by MJ to approve the consent agenda. All four five four uh campus reporters I guess. Do you have anything? >> I I do not. Uh they they really two of them said they were going to try they try to come and I said I don't really think that we need you to come to the board meeting. we need to get well and

come to school. They're just sick and upper respiratory just hard to shake. And Lori had a doctor's appointment that started at 4:00 this afternoon in Evelyn and so she >> understand. >> Uh facilities update. >> Everything's going well. I hope you uh at least seen pictures of the new weight room. It is looks great. >> Gorgeous. It is gorgeous. And So very very very proud of it and so it's in and everything's good. Um minor um things going on is as they break we fix it you know we have u heaters that didn't want to come on when it was first cold and they didn't want to go off it got hot again. So but but our maintenance keeps up with it pretty well. Um the maintenance we're short one person and that is being

advertised. U we do have I think an applicant that I think is coming that first I interviewed so hopefully that'll be filled in the next couple of weeks. >> Okay. This is something that I give out every year. Something that you do on your own time. It's not anything that that is a gotcha or anything. It's just for you to look at it, review it. I do it too. Uh it just gives you makes you think about some things. And so I have it and then I'll put it on the agenda for to to discuss in >> January providing you all later on having a board meeting. And I guess are there any training opportunities? >> I don't have any right now. There was one that was but it was in Abene and it was

a week day and I think we could get everybody and if we all went to get him training about that one but if I find any online again I will certainly send it to you. You can always go online and get them. Cherry's been really uh successful getting some trainings online >> in the past. Look again >> from so if you find anything good if you'll share with the rest of us that would be that'd be good. >> Something you're excited about. >> Uh I guess we'll move on to section seven uh donations and gifts to the district. did have one. I believe it was the Bass Club. Yes. Uh the Bass Club uh Signature Land and Home donated $100 to the Bass Club. So that's a very active club. >> They do. They >>

It's because they have their names all over. That's what I think. And so if we'll just do that for everything. If you could get your name on it, people would get paid. >> Well, they they are very active in they're very successful >> tournament right on Saturday. >> Very successful. So, and it's a good thing for kids to get out and about. >> Um the first one was PK. I don't know where that second was. And I can't even imagine because we have boys after that game, you know, >> and they have to be at the boat, you know, 5 a.m. >> fishing. I do. But anyway, it's a really good club that that kids belong to and and and it some of them are kids that don't play athletics that that can do that.

blends the the two kinds of kids. So, that's good. I um did I put the GT report at your places? I think I did. >> Um Lori was No, we have a new GT coordinator. Amber Bates is doing it now, but this is a report from Deanna. So, Amber was going to do it for Deanna and then Amber something came up and Lori was going to do it for for Amber and then Lori couldn't come. So, this is it. Um, it it's pretty it's got pictures and which I really liked. I like seeing the kids. Uh, our our GT program I think has really um grown improved and um challenging kids at a higher level than than in the past. And so I think we're we have much to celebrate on that. So if you

had the opportunity to attend any of the things that they had last year, really really interesting and and and the kids took a lot of pride in their projects. So anyway, it's going well. >> Okay. Uh let's back up to seven 7.1 on donations and gifts. >> Can I have a motion? >> I'm sorry. >> No, you're fine. I'll make a motion to approve. >> I'll second motion by Carrie, second by Josh to approve the gift to the district. All four to zero. Unless someone has a question refer to Amber >> and it's a good program. I think we got good leadership in it and the project at the end of the year is always It is unique. >> Looking for approval on that. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I'll make a motion. >> Recommend for

approval of the GT program report. Uh motion by car, second by All four vote pass 5 to zero. Uh 7.3 is votes for the Comanche County Appraisal District directors. >> We can we can vote for these people or we can I think I don't think we can nominate anyone. We had to cast our votes for for one or split and candidates votes for several. And I was reading I can't remember how many votes we have. >> 523. >> 52. Yeah, here it is. 523. Yeah, 523 votes. We can cast all 523 for one person or we can divide them up and then I'll send it into it. There's only two that are in our district. I think is in our district. She might >> I don't I don't think she I think she lives in

school district. >> I knew that she was right there on the >> right there on the boundary. >> So Chance Singleton is the only one in our school district. >> I'm aware of he he is in the school or should be in the school district. >> What did we do last year? Did we split last year or did we >> I think we did all all >> I thought we did all we did. That's what I was thinking. The chance is >> this is off topic because he's the commissioner right now. >> Do you want to know something about this? >> Yeah. >> Yes, >> please. >> All right. So, the HIC tried to put three people on um on the appraisal board a few years ago right after CO or right during CO and

when they tried to do that they irritated the county. >> It was their own board was it not? So irritated the county. So the county went through much research that the apparently the school district didn't do and figured out that the school district didn't have the votes to do that. But in the process of doing that, the county figured out they had the votes to do that. And so they put Now there's two there there's a couple ways this works. Grace doesn't have to have the votes. >> Yeah. She automatically sits on it, >> right? So then they can say, well, we can put the clerk of the district court on there and we can put Chance on there and that way we have three people in this office that are sitting on that board

and basically it was a way to blunt what was trying to do and now they figured out and now they're doing that. So, >> well, Joe's name's on here. Is he not on the board anymore? >> He is. >> And that's still they still, >> but see, they have votes. They'll get him, but they have to use they have to use all of their votes to to do that. >> Okay. >> So, they might use them all, but they have to use much of them. >> So, when you start talking about that, you're talking about, like 5,000 votes or something like that. So, you got to divide them all between all these people with all these different points of view and allegiances. So basically for for the city or for um you don't have enough

votes unless you join together. You still wouldn't have enough votes but you might have enough to get one if you join together. So basically the battle between the county and in the large part but man has lost the votes that they had 5 years ago. They don't have any. And so that's what's giving the county the power to do this and get their people. >> Well, we don't really want to fight with them. We just need to vote. >> Yeah. So I mean whatever you want to do what I'm trying to say something if you want to give him a chance give a chance you want to give grace give grace >> well but grace gets grace is automatically >> you're just wasting those votes >> you're staying out of it I would say grace

just like we did last year he's on >> he on the school board over there >> who >> Jimmy >> I don't know I know who But I don't think >> he's involved in a bunch of stuff. >> So if you wanted to if you wanted to do anything about that, then it would require you to have a plot to use that plot to do what you wanted to do, which would mean that you have to you'd have to team up with somebody from Comanche or team up with somebody else in the county who want to put somebody forward. I mean, this is it's really silly, but that's the way it's been working. So, if you have somebody you want to put on there, I don't think we have any agenda. >> So, Correct. >>

From our district, >> he's actually pretty good in meetings. >> It's the other stuff. So, if it's if it's kind of a meeting thing, >> he's all right. But that's my opinion. It doesn't >> carry weight. >> Sounds good. >> Carrie, is that a motion? >> I like to make that motion for Grace >> for 523. >> Yes. Okay, I'll second it. Motion to uh approval to send all 523 votes to Grace Everheart. Motion was by Carrie, second by MJ. All four pass five to zero summer feeding program. The letter is a letter that needs to be signed by the president of the school board. We've done this in years past. We tried doing a summer feeding program. It just was not successful. We had waste the food. It is a lot of money and

and it just it just is not beneficial and you just you couldn't even give the food availability. So people just are not going to come in to get it. So anyway, we have talked about it. We feel like that this would be not cost effective for our school district. We'd like to send this letter that way for a number of years. >> Yeah. since we tried it >> several years ago. >> Yeah. >> I will make a motion to approve waiter from participating on the summer. >> Motion by Josh, second by Terl to approve the waiver for the summer feeding program. All four car five to zero uh December board meeting to cancel >> we've done this past December Motion by carry second by MJ to cancel the December board meeting all four pass to

zero and that's not saying if we have >> if we have to we can always do a call >> uh polic policy update 126. >> I sent you copies of that. Um I went through we only have a say so on mobile. We can that's the only one we really need to vote on. Um I didn't see anything in here that we didn't already know that we were supposed to be doing and and are doing. So, um, I've had it at our admin meeting and they got the same underlying that you did and we discussed it and, um, I would just ask you to approve the local policy changes. >> Well, I will tell you that one one of the things that that caught my attention was the use of AI, it's coming and we

we have to embrace it and we have to use it as a tool because it's here and it's going to be part of our lives from now on. And and so what we're encouraging our teachers and students and everybody use it as a tool to get better, not as a tool to get by. And so I I think that that's how we're going to use it. But um it it does CQD local talks about that about the artificial intelligence. These are just explanatory notes. The the actual board policy is is about that thick. In fact, it cost us almost $4,000 for Tasky to send it to us. So, so um we we also do uh we talked about this a lot about safety, remembering that we have door checks that that are unannounced. They come

and and check. We already had one for our elementary school. They found nothing unlocked. Um, so but every week somebody goes around and pulls every outside door in the school district just to see that to to make sure that we are remembering to lock the doors. But but most of our doors are are automatic lock anyway, especially our gates going into behind our fences. And I know we we all back when we put the fences in, we all kind of didn't want to do the fences. They really are wonderful for a lot of reasons uh for traffic flow, especially especially between the middle school and the high school. I don't think it takes away from the the the way our schools look, but it really adds to when they are released to go to van

or released to go to to lunch, there's a pathway if they're released to go to a there's a pathway and and it's just a it's been a real real help. Um I might add and I don't remember if cell phones are in here or not, but probably they are. But anyway, that has been one of the easiest changes. Our kids just are wonderful about it. I think they're kind of enjoying talking to each other and and so we have very we have very little problems with kids bringing phones to school. Once in a while, somebody brings one and uh but really and truly it has been one of the commonest things and I I was wrong about that. I thought it might be a real hassle, but it has not been. Yeah, take that win.

Take that win. It's really good. Anything else? I think we we know about it and we're doing ask for you to approve it. I'll make a motion to approve policy at 126. Uh, approval of policy 126. Motion made by Terrell, second by Josh. All four pass to zero. Voting. >> Yes, there he is. But but because Lisa, if you noticed in the Notice in the minutes now when we write the minutes we say >> I did notice that >> that >> who who votes for each thing. >> We do it by name. >> It just now I have been in board meetings before where the board secretary actually call ro every time it made somebody say yes or no but we can kind of see who votes for it that way. I guess we'll have

to call board election for May 2nd or 22. >> Yes, we do. The reason we're doing it so early is because it has to be done by December the 20 something. But anyway, it has to be done by December. If we do not have a meeting in December, that's how we're calling it now. But the board meeting board election would be on May the 2nd at the first Saturday in in May. And um the um I will post the the calendar for it, everything on the board so people can know the schedule of when they can vote and all this stuff. U we'll have two um cies and >> carries positions are up for reelection. So, we'll definitely get one new person on the board. And so, I'm going asking election for May the second.

It'll be here before you know it, guys. I'll make >> uh motion by MJ second by carry to approve uh to call a board election for May 2nd 26. All four five to zero. Is there anything that we need to discuss? >> All our teachers in place our board members. >> I guess we're down to number nine. I don't know. I can't say nothing. >> Don't we need to vote for the December meeting? >> Unfortunately, because you didn't you didn't notice. You had to come to it by yourself. >> I remember us talking about it. >> Well, I'm going to be honest. I don't remember us voting for it, but >> would y'all like to vote again? Okay, >> I got it. They voted. >> They voted. Okay. All right. U like I say, the

only vacancy I think we have in in the school district right now is one open, which is amazing to stay to have only one open. We do have a viable candidate for that. >> We Yeah, it's the easiest probably you'll have to >> accept his resation at the next meeting >> and then the rule says if if if there's less than six months left in his term that you don't have to appoint anyone you can just because he's his position going to be up for election anyway. at >> 6:36 that I think so.
