Good morning. It's Wednesday, October 22nd, and we had a board meeting on Monday night, the 20th, and I want to just hit some of the highlights for you of that board meeting. And so, I'm just going to jump right in and and start up by uh talking to you about the best part is always the first part. We had a number of recognitions. And so, just kind of hit some of the highlights of those. October is principal month and we recognized our principles, read a proclamation from the governor of the state of Texas and just we are so blessed with the principles that we have in Marble Falls ISD. Mr. Garcia, Dr. Garcia uh then uh had a group of students that invited the board as well as the community to come to uh Hispanic

Heritage Night. That's going to be tomorrow night. If you're watching the video today, it's on Thursday, October 23rd at 6 o'clock at the high school and hope you can join us. But we got to have a couple of uh four students that came and invited us to that personally. From there, we got to recognize a couple of uh Colt Elementary students, Renie and Hollis, and uh got to hear about what great young people they are and the good job that they're doing at Colt Elementary. our going the extra mile award uh was first grade teacher uh Miss Carr from Coloula Elementary School and got to hear just a number of great things about her. Our spotlight on excellence uh was Miss Moss uh from the nurse from Marble Falls Elementary School and uh just had

a video her nomination. We always post those on Facebook as well. And then uh we had Spotlight on Engagement and Miss Ewing from Marble Falls Middle School. We finished our recognitions and celebrations with a group of eight students that were present from College Board from taking the PSAT test. It was a group of seniors and one junior uh that were present. There were probably about 15 14 15 total. Only eight were present, but it was a great time to recognize them for their achievements. We went through the information items quickly and then we went into presentation items. Uh the the school board got to hear about our district improvement plan as well as our campus improvement plans. If you work with your campus principles on those, you know exactly what those are. But every year

we submit those to the school board and keep those um a part of um they get approved in November. And so this was our our first chance to go over those. We also looked at uh professional learning. Uh Miss uh Lelet presented that as well on our professional learning uh plan. All of our professional development for the year. And then the last presentation by our CNI, Miss Lelett and uh Mr. Puga was uh on House Bill 3 early childhood goals as well as CCMR goals. and just reviewing those for the school board. Again, all of those will be approved next month at the uh November board meeting. Mr. Widow came in and talked to the board about three brand new trucks uh that uh the district approved uh to purchase. Two of those are uh

going to be uh bigger trucks and then one just a regular size truck. Uh this will really complete all of the vehicular purchases from the 2025 bond. Uh as far as the maintenance goes, uh they were under budget and uh there were some money that is still there uh if if we come back in a few years and need need another, but but that should get us in good shape. Um, we also purchased a compact excavator uh from a local dealership uh K Cabota uh here in Marvel Falls and that's going to give us a chance to uh have an excavator that we don't have but have needed over the last few years. And uh so we were the board approved that uh last uh on Monday night. The board went into executive session uh

related to personnel safety and security and uh contract with Fluger. And when they came out from that, the board uh approved a guaranteed maximum price for the softball facility. U the board did not take any action related to the baseball facility. They approved some personnel. Uh we will have a new uh HR director uh coming to us in January and we'll introduce her when she's on board full-time as well as uh they approved a staff member that is moving from pair professional to a teacher and uh will be um starting in the classroom quickly uh at Spicewood Elementary. It's a new tool in our tool belt that the state has given us. The very final thing that I want to just spend half a minute on is the the last thing is the board took

action and and I'm going to read the exact language. Uh the board directed administration and legal counsel to work with Fluger Architects to negotiate a partial descop including at least a CTE building and to renegotiate contract terms and fees as discussed in close session and bring back options for the board to consider at the next meeting and in the interim direct fluger architects to cease cease work on baseball facility CTE building multi-purpose building and Max Copeland gym project until the board can take further action. I'm not going to go into great detail because uh most of it was close session or covered in the Wednesday uh special call meeting, but but needless to say, the the guaranteed maximum price of what was uh proposed exceeded dramatically the capacity of what we had budgeted for. And

that budget was developed by Fluger during the bond uh process. And as we were getting ready to go out for bond and so uh the board took uh action to direct administration on what do we what are we going to do next and we're doing that. So I just wanted to share the highlights of the board meeting. It was a little bit of a long one. If you were to watch there's a little bit of time where uh you can fast forward through executive session uh that lasted a while. But I hope you're having a great week. I hope uh that um you're having a good month of October. Thanksgiving is going to be here before we know it. So, with that, I'm gonna part ways. Hope you have a great day. Thanks.
