welcome everyone we're here for the ashon high school basketball game against Bellingham tonight joining me tonight is coach Mark champagne and our inaugural stop the clock segment so we've got a few questions for Coach champagne coach is here in this third season coach last year made it to the tournament what's it looking like for the boys this year well we have a lot of kids back from last year and um Shane continues to develop as a good big man which is a real nice commodity to have in the league aren't that many of them and I think um we have a big upside where we're starting to play a little better we've played three really tough games so far and I think we played well defensively not offensively but I think as the boys get
more comfortable uh playing with each other and and being more aggressive offensively I think we're going to have a good season excellent they did open up last week Friday night here with a win a couple tough road games against the iron Hopkinson and Medway yeah we play well at Hopkinson and we came out played very well and competed well and um but shot 30% so it's tough to win games like that shot bad from the line as well uh but they were a good team and then we played uh well against Holliston at times not not always uh really aggressively but overall very well they're a good team they're much improved over last year and we got ourselves a win in our own gym which was nice and then we went down to Midway Tuesday
night and they were a very good team we were down six at the end of the third quarter and then they opened up some space on us a little bit and especially with Shane getting in F trouble early in the fourth quarter we struggled but uh we're playing well I think we I think we're going to have a really uh really tough team to beat as we go on I think people are going to um know that you know they're not going to come in our gym and win and I think the league is very balanced and um you know game here and there is going to make a difference for teams making the tournament because the it is very competitive this year and we have the nice tournament next next week Thursday and Friday
which brings in three other good teams as well well you mentioned Shane he scored incrementally more points the first three games who else should the folks at home be looking for to put some points in the basket well we have uh begged and uh told Shane to get into the post more and be closer to the basket he does have a nice shot and is capable of shooting from outside but is definitely better for our team the more he's nearer the basket and he has done that more and more uh his team teammates know that that's a good option and they seem to be looking for him more as well so um I think that's going to continue and as other kids start to play off him being more aggressive I think we'll start to
score more points all right well we wish you good luck tonight go get them all right may we see you next week we will [Music] [Applause] [Music] well welcome everyone we got a rousing rendition of the national anthem by the fans tonight is little technical diff difficulty at the recording station but very nice very well done Devon very Lively crowd we have tonight it's going to be [Applause] good looks like we have starting for Ashlin ton night Evan labov Joe Burns that's van CLE Shane Pas anonio and Mr R rusi quite the high difference between the jump ball right here let's hope Ashlin gets it in their favor good UPS m him controlling the ball as a great defense right here good Board Outlet husi with the ball up top down low early inside up

this year and the defensive pressures are key to help these teams get some turnovers get some easy baskets on the transition so we'll be St in the second quarter here ashin 20 Bellingham five got a pretty good holiday crowd here lots of uh high school students looks like got a lot of folks back from college I even seen attendance the young little jwi a former teammate of mine Bellingham inbounds look like aon's going to stick with that z a nice athletic move by David Marson to make the steal loses it on the pass underneath the Bellingham Bellingham purs nice move couldn't convert that up the floor ashin with the ball now over to the wing for Morrison up to the top fineberg looking to drive shoots and he drains it fineberg with 11 points beginning

fineberg Christensen iusi and then David Morrison out right now coming out in a manto man defense which has done exceptionally well for them thus far tonight creating a lot of turnovers a lot of chaos for bellingham's ball handlers causing many turnovers almost like that great pass that's rebound by Shane off the glass Outlet ausi brings it up Marson from the corner comes up a little short Shane blocked off that rebound fineberg slows down the Bellingham Ball [Applause] Carrier millingham find it difficult to get any penetration only 9 seconds left on the shot clock [Applause] [Music] looks like we're going to have a Ashlin foul underneath Shane pass contonio desperation drive by the with the clock running down there Bellingham really lucked out right there acent gave him a call like that POA for two first

to convert on that fast break Ashan will take it out on the side hereit by the fans Marson and rusi Bellingham set up in a little 2 three Ash have a great ball movement tonight getting the ball up finding the open people iusi in the corner trying to enter it down to Big Shane they do Shin good stuff down low Bellingham definitely trying to make it a little more uptempo here up the court catch Ash land out up in position this is the first shot they get it back setting it [Applause] up 10 seconds left on the shot clock for [Applause] Belling shot by their shooter Mr Posta goes off the rim out of bounds ball going as's way I tell you what I know I've said it before but Ash's defense is looking incredible
tonight they do an excellent job a switching screen rows getting in the offensive player's face Shane contesting that last shot right there so he couldn't go down to the buzzer Shane back up top over to Morrison they swing it across all the way over to ausi Shane up top again taking the three Shane and he drains it same pass anonio with the three-pointer talented not only down low but outside the key got a nice little jumper for a big man 65 you don't see that very often great shot by Shane pass and a stuff Shane come across the help and going the other way great job Shane Shane came across the help made the stuff one trains a three gets a block takes a charge great player that's what coaches love right there g a

it down underneath oh and a nice stuff by John Van CLE on the Bellingham shooter labove pushing the ball up the floor over to Burns crosscourt to Morrison up top to leov back to Burns who drives through the lane off the glass for two and he'll be going to line for the three-point play nice drive to the glass by Joe Burns what do you think there great strong move lower his shoulder Ed great body control he was up in the air laid it in for two and one burs showing himself that he's a great free throw shooter already hitting both his foul shots before I believe one I'm sorry oh no you're right Devon he made them both earlier and finishing makes upoint play great job by Joe Burns the captain pressuring the ball hand
her up top crossover great pass by the Billingham point guard and the finishing for two fineberg back in the game for ausi feberg I'm glad he's back in the game I'm actually looking forward to seeing him play a little bit more Burns again to the glass fouled back at the line for two more shots burn slashing to the Lane great strength of his right here taking the first foul [Applause] shot and he drains [Applause] it four for four so far tonight Deon great foul shooter got a great stroke keeps elbows in bends the knees looks good almost jinxed it gets a little help from the rim there Shooters touch Bingham bringing it up burns on his Man Down Low looking for that steel nice switch by Burns and labov on that play Bellingham player tries
to shoot cut off by fineberg fineberg running the floor gets the ball back looks to the glass to shoot off the far side of the rim the burns over there to tie up the play and that's Ashlin possession nice Hustle by the ashin boys tonight Deon great job they're doing an awesome job swarming the ball especially when a defender or offensive player on Bellingham gets in a corner trap them immediately swarm them suffocate him so they give up the ball excellent job by Ash defense fineberg no look over to Burns Burns to the glass again off the box and in he is a slashing machine right now that's a nice move by Joe Burns right through the traffic center of the box with that ball and in for two another what do we have here
yep we had another defensive turnover by ashlon intercepting that ball and Bellingham foul trying to get it back so fineberg going to the line believe for one and one right here Ball's Lo if he misses but he doesn't fber showing a great stroke right there puts in his 12th bucket Point rims out Bingham with the rebound Ashlin work that manto man still Bo down low stoping penetration another tip by the Ashlin hands fineberg to Le above a little move to the glass ooh off the front of the rim burns with the rebound in the box and into the net for two Joe Burns nice hustle to get up the floor get the rebound and convert that basket that's the end of the half here folks 45 ashon 45 Bellingham 10 quite the display by Ashlin
on the defensive side and just running and making those transition baskets Deon getting turnovers left and right hands going up deflections on the ball end up for Fast Break Outlets you name it ashy just did it doing an excellent job tonight all right folks we'll be back in a few minutes to give you the first half wrap up and bring you second half Ashlin high school basketball here on waca TV you're watching waca TV all right folks this is Mark Jon Devin fry here on waca TV here at ashin high school basketball tonight December 21st Ashen against Bellingham ashon with a commanding 45-10 lead at halftime Max fineberg leading all scorers with 14 Joe Burns with 12 and uh Bellingham searching for an answer to get over this tough ashin defense tonight Devon what do
you think about that defense Ashland's defense has been um impeccable to say the least uh they cannot get by Bellingham cannot get by their defense they're pressed whatever they throw at them really is pretty much Unstoppable for Bellingham um Ashan has hands up swarming everywhere the ball is um they're doing an excellent job yeah very interesting a lot of tips on hands up and with that tough defense ashon only four personal fouls on the the first half quick hands playing with their feet that's all that is right there coach is opening up with leov iusi pass Antonio Burns and Van CLE Bellingham taking it out here at the table and we're off third quarter action iusi pressuring the ball right up the top trying to start something Bellingham looking like they're coming out with some
more aggression and it is denied by Van CLE van CLE with a nice stuff underneath leov shoulder down to the rim and gets the basket looks like on that drive as wasn't [Applause] done again with hands John Van CLE gets the rebound the steel back goes to the glass gets two [Applause] pasc anonio gets called for the foul I'm sorry I think they call it a timeout we're going to see what the call here is if the timeout came up before the ref called the foul show Coach cam yeah coach champ champag getting a clarification it looks like the Bellingham coach called the timeout before Shane got that foul so that's a break for Shane it would have been his third but a nice aggressive defense and Shane just caught reaching in there but that
one won't make it into the [Applause] book seems as though ashan's coming out with just as much fire as he did in the first two quarters of the game not relenting and not stopping coming out with their starters coach isn't done with this yet the three points out at the time clock hadn't drained so we're uh getting a correction on the clock going to be here at 718 left in the third quarter Bellingham taking it out by the scores table Bellingham bringing the ball up the court I Russy pressing the ball trying to get a quick steal seemed like a little push off right there I think he got away with it gets the ball out to their shooter Sean Posta leading all scores for Bellingham now with seven points above going to the glass
but we're going to get a call underneath Ash has got some quick slashy guards right here with Burns leov fineberg doing an excellent job getting to the rim and finishing Shane again up top with the ball swings it to ayusi who gives it back to Shane up top so up to laub they swing it across to Van CLE Le took a look from the three-point Burns gets it stops pops off the back rim Shane unable to control the offensive rebound Bellingham brings it up the [Music] floor that's a quick shot recovered by Van CLE and Ashlin pushing the ball Shane going to the glass and gets fouled Shane going line for two right here I already showed before he's got a very pretty stroke so I have no doubt in my mind he'll make both
of these for a big man he's got a great soft [Applause] touch and he drains the first big shame what a talent he is ball up and he jins the second Christensen coming in for Pas andon after he hits those two free throws 616 left here at the third quarter Bellingham with the ball Ashley on ahead 5113 ashon coming out in a one two2 it looks like Christensen with a good heads up D gets the Board Outlet iusi bring the ball up the court looking to the corner Burns gets a ball screen LS has it poked away that'll be ashin [Applause] ball passing ball underneath the hoop Jo going to take it out himself into Christensen up to iusi at the top of the key aggressive defense by the Bellingham play ofosa is going to
cost him a [Applause] foul and we're going to have a couple substitutions by coach champagne looks like fineberg and Marson coming in Van CLE and Evan Lau will take a rest Marson into burns up top Joel looking to drive pulls it back out over to Morrison Burns get to the basket at will Le Mor morr for three in corner misses burns with a great rebound good hustle o steps out of bounds unlucky [Applause] Bellingham at half courau being exhorted by their fans to get a little offensive movement going nice drive to the basket by number 33 Michael Michael [Applause] Furman fineberg with the shot great crossover PS the Deep two Christenson with the Wards going up jump ball called by The Ref ball going towards ashan's [Applause] way timeout called by coach champagne look like
we had a little defensive breakdown there with the substitution so looks like the coach is going to get that straightened out and uh it's ashon 53 Belling H 15 just a little over five minutes left there on the looking lot lot like a New England Patriots game right now Mark all credited to ashlin's defense and exceptional coaching um coming out with uh passion and aggression even after uh a great first half and they're doing an excellent job coming out still hot shooting well really banging on all cylinders tonight back on the floor ready to go marson's going to inbound to fineberg box trying to generate a little energy toughing up on defense Feinberg off the screen turns and makes a three young man likes to shoot and he's doing a nice job at it [Applause]
[Music] tonight Ashton's defense stifling fineberg with the board couldn't handle it Billingham guardar gets the ball Bingham with the ball down low ma did a nice job to uh get that rebound but the Bellingham player poked it away and Max fouled him trying to get it back Bellingham will take the ball out underneath nice move by Isaiah Rodriguez to score over Joe burns fineberg with the ball up top over to Marson steps back in the corner sees Shane underneath Shane gets fouled ashon should get the ball underneath the basket here Morrison taking the ball out of bounds ashon looking like they're in a stack formation Shane out to Max Max they're trying to get Shane down low right here fineberg with the three a rare Miss from him thr him bringing it up another thing
ashlin's doing exceptionally well is they're talking on defense they do an excellent job with communicating therefore allowing their switches and rolls all that stuff to work Joe puts it up gets it knocked down gets his own rebound and looks like we're going to have a jump ball and that'll be uh Bellingham possession table correcting the referees as referees had given the ball a this is some confusion referees going to go over the table and check it out table wins that discussion Bellingham will bring it up ashon on Andy run helping the referees with that call ellingham up the top rebound by fineberg who pushes it up the floor sees Morrison breaking of the glass and he's going to put it up get two and be fou finishing and one AET really um capitalizing on all
the fast breaks they get [Applause] nice look by Max fineberg C Marson making it run to the basket and finding him for a fast break points looks like we got Brendan Thurber in tonight making his first appearance of the evening seems to be a crowd favorite Marson makes the foul shot ashon 59 Bellingham 17 3 minutes left in the third [Applause] quarter GBA picks up the ball on the switch Bellingham working the corner trying to get a shot off and that shot will be blocked by Max fineberg Max really everywhere on the court tonight offensively and defensively getting rebounds hitting shots he ain't getting rebounds doing everything coach [Music] likes him forc it it underneath Shooters fouled by David Morrison he'll be going to the Lane to the line for two Isaiah Rodriguez from Bellingham
at the line right now shooting two shots this is the first I have to say that uh even with the swarming defense hands up and I mentioned it earlier still Ashlin only five fouls on the night so far six fouls on the night great defense in control of the hands to make Steals and knock passes down without clutching and grabbing that's a nice pass by ausi to see Shane going to the rim nothing for the Bellingham plays to do with f Shane and he'll be going to the line for two beautiful pass by John iusi I think that was actually smart foul because I believe Shane was about to throw that down had one big drop step and about to go up with two hands have been a crowd pleaser right there I would have
been very pleased about that I tell you P Antonio finishes first shot and for the second Shane James second substitution coming in Shane sits down with Shane sits down with 10 points very consistent player Shane's going to be exceptional this year I think he's going to have a great year the sophomore John Van CLE coming in and Morrison with the steel goes all the way to the rim himself and he gets followed [Applause] Mr Marson will be shooting two it's Bellingham seventh foul of the quarter so ason will be at the line for the penalty Marson makes the first [Applause] one second one rimso Rodriguez with the rebound and Bellingham pushing the ball up the floor that's intercepted by Van CLE who pushes it to fineberg receives Morrison on the corner his shot comes up
short rebounded by young man Rodriguez pushes it up the floor Bellingham takes a shot that's going to go off for Ashlin player and Bellingham will take it out underneath the basket minute 57 left in the third quarter [Music] [Applause] and CLE comes out and a first uh look at Dean caralis tonight Rodriguez with a shot gets his own rebound comes off the rim again scrum underneath Bellingham playing with a little bit more aggression right now three rebounds in a row four rebounds in a row and they finally get a foul call right here on the floor Dean with that foul bound and short off the rim we're going to have a Ashlin five here a steal by Brendan thura over to iusi pushes it up the floor and that Ball's going to go off a
Bellingham player great Strip by Brendan right there husi coming out above coming in fall down though for ashon David marrison will take it out screen by corales fber gets the ball swings it all way around to Morrison who misses the three a rebound by Isaiah Rodriguez Mr Rodriguez and Derek Stone carrying the load here for Bellingham in the third quarter shot by Bellingham comes off the rim Rodriguez gets a rebound gets it again and he gets fouled going up Rodriguez really getting every rebound right now just can't finish at The Rim say Rodriguez at the line for two Rodriguez finishes the first nothing but net seconds up and it's good fineberg bringing the ball at the court trying to make something happen fast [Applause] RIS has it up top above comes off the screen takes
it on the corner see Thurber up top thir to Morrison above sees a lane to the rim goes comes off short Marson with the rebound fineberg gets it up top pulls it short makes the two really kind of a wild shot but he went in what a what a great touch right there I think fineberg just feeling it tonight noham looking to make the last shot here 8 seconds left Rodriguez takes it oh thought he was going the rim pushes out the three-point line gets the rebound and puts it in right at the buzzer very nice effort by Isaiah Rodriguez from Bellingham and we that'll end the third quarter here here ason with 64 Bellingham 22 ason continuing a pressure on the defense but young Isaiah Rodriguez pushing back on the ashon D and had
four points that quarter not to mention the 20 rebounds he just got right at the end of the half uh quarter he's taking advantage of Shane having a little rest but he's looking good out there fortunately the deficit right now is is a little too big to conquer be interesting to see who starts this next half this next quarter I'm [Applause] [Music] sorry thir still on the floor here to open up the fourth quarter Marson a lbound to Max [Music] fineberg giv the Bellingham Defender Fitz thura sees leub going to the rim loses it underneath Bellingham pushing it up the floor fineburg with a tip goes to the Bellingham player wild shot goes up and in he's going to go the rim it's going to go to the line for sure make it a three
Reed Pike at the line misses the free throw but Bellingham gets the board right at the top of the key there shooter gets fouled as he's going to the basket by Brendon Thurber going to the line but we have a timeout beforehand by it's an ash timeout coach champagne putting a lot of the young legs out on the floor right now trying to get some good looks get some experience for the young guys it's a quiet a down here in the gym comfortable lead for Ashlin several Santas in the audience tonight Devin several the Santa were leading us in our uh national anthem before the game as well very festive crowd here tonight Sean poster at the line trying to expand on his shooting foul also the leading scorer here tonight for Belling he he
makes the first gets a nice Shooters touch and he finishes second HST with a rain maker to get that second foul shot we're going to have a substitution by Bellingham and Morrison and Max fineberg will bring the ball up for Ashland when we accept to go here we [Applause] at Morrison for three in the corner look good th Thurber on the long rebound yes Evan calling for the play nice screen by corales drops it into thura goes to the rim Brandon's going to be called for a charge there that was a nice move but the Bellingham Defender got there in time to draw the offensive foul on Brendon th great rib through fortunately he was in some traffic Bron got up there pretty good he did looked great very athletic move right there Belling him
